Yandere! Suyin Beifong Headcanons
You weren't fond of Su when you both were younger
You thought she was spoiled and got away with everything
When Su got involved with the Terra Triad, she told you, thinking it was cool and impressive
It was quite the opposite. You told her they were terrorist and you couldn't believe she would join such a group
She was frustrated that you didn't understand
The group fills her mind with nonsense and fuels her yandere tendencies
When her mother sends her away, she is furious. She won't be able to see you, but you don't want to see her
You don't see each other until you're both young adults
She had changed and she reached out to you to come visit the city of Zaofu
You were hoping for the best, so you agreed to come
Little did you know it was a trap
You ended up getting hurt pretty badly and she offered you to stay
Though, you never get better. She keeps you sick by putting stuff in your food
Anytime you start getting better, you're hit by an even worse sickness
You practically become entirely dependent on Su
You feel bad, but she doesn't mind. In fact, she loves taking care of you
You do end up developing a sort of Stockholm Syndrome and when you do, Su slowly stops poisoning you
And when you're finally better again, your relationship with Su begins to develop and bloom

warning(s) ; sexually explicit content, lin and suyin (separately) failing the âno nut novemberâ challenge
minors and ageless blogs will be blocked
lin beifong
has technically âwonâ more than her fair share of nnns in the past, partially because of how busy her work keeps her (i.e. she barely has the time to breathe some days, let alone attend to her own needs) and partially because before you she just hadnât been in a relationship for a while, but now that sheâs actually in a devoted (and active) relationship with you she doesnât really see any point in participating â why would she want to actively avoid getting off when she could instead spend her evenings buried between your thighs making you see stars, or riding your face to destress after a long day?
so, needless to say, it will take a lot to convince her to participate â and she will only participate if you do too
but once she does finally agree, lin actually ends up finding the whole nnn thing to not be all that challenging and if she was left to her own devices she could very easily make it through the whole month without finishing once â even if there are plenty of days throughout november that could have been made much much easier with a glass of wine, a hot bath, and an orgasm in the evening to make her less tempted to punch the lights out of some of the people she deals with on a daily basisâŚ
that being said, sheâs still not entirely invested in the challenge and can be convinced to give up and fuck you dumb with her fingers/tongue/strap if you beg her really nicely or tease her enough that she decides to fuck the manners back into you â with the former being much easier and the latter being much more fun, especially if you happen to be of a brattier disposition (and enjoy seeing a rougher more authoritarian side to your girlfriend)
so, yeah, sheâll reluctantly participate in nnn if you ask her to do so with you and sheâs more than capable of succeeding, but isnât all that invested in it and will be more than happy to fold if asked or goaded into doing so
suyin beifong
found out about nnn years ago and will participate in the challenge every few years whenever she remembers it, but sheâs never actually managed to succeed â typically failing around the first or second week, and once just barely managing to make it to the late twenties of the month before crumbling just shy of the finish line â though sheâs still more than happy to give it another go with you if you ask
finds the first few days to be relatively easy, even going so far as to start teasing you here and there just for a bit of fun â optimistic as ever that sheâs going to win this time while also making no attempt to hide her need for you as she brazenly flirts and teases you throughout the day
by the end of the first week, and going into the second, she starts to become much more reactive to your own flirting, and becomes even more physically affectionate than usual â at this point sheâs still giving as good as she gets as far as the whole teasing thing goes, but itâs plainly obvious that itâs impacting her a whole lot more than usual from the way that she rubs her thighs together when youâre talking, or the way she canât seem to tear her eyes away from your body when youâre exercising or practising your bending
around the middle of week two she starts floating the idea of giving up on the challenge, still not quite at the point where sheâs failed on her own but very obviously starting to resent the whole âno cummingâ thing as the days go by
and if you donât give in and break with her then by the end of day thirteen she will have lost to one of her toys and, shortly thereafter, she will make it her mission to make you fail too â all in good fun, of course
sheâs extra flirty, extra touchy, struts about your shared bedroom in the most flattering lingerie youâve ever seen in your life, encourages you to join her in the bath every time she bathes, and just generally makes it difficult for you to go about your normal life without dousing yourself in icy water every few hours â and, playful as ever, she teases the hell out of you whenever she notices you getting aroused by her antics (which, depending on what youâre into, will either make the situation much better or much worse)
and when you finally, finally, give in and take her to bed she does everything she can to make it worth your while (or, in other words, ensuring you wonât be walking straight, thinking clearly, or feeling anywhere close to unsatisfied once you leave the bedroom) â all the whole joking about how you two can always try again next year since you have plenty of time to practice
in other words, while suyin is more than happy to participate and relatively optimistic about her chances of success, itâs very unlikely that sheâll get close to âwinningâ nnn and she has much more fun when trying to get you to lose with her

Dancer
Lin Beifong x reader x suyin beifong
Summary: both Lin and Su like you but youâre very oblivious to Suâs advances (thank you to @2sosa for requesting this! đ)
You live in Zafuo with the Beifong family since you were one of Suâs dancers. Su liked to house her dancers since you all performed often. Youâve met Suâs sister Lin a few times and you two really connected. You thought Lin was so strong and beautiful. You had a thing for strong women that could easily pick you up and lift you over their shoulders. It turned you on for some weird reason. Anyways Lin was coming to visit! Su was throwing a big party and invited Lin and the rest of team Avatar. You couldnât wait to see Lin but you had to practice when Lin arrived but you would see her after.
The next day you ate breakfast then went to practice. For some reason you were struggling to keep up with everyone; it was probably because Lin was on your mind. All you could think about was seeing her. After practice Su made you stay behind. âTell me whatâs going on Y/n.â Su said as she walked over to you. You couldnât tell her you were thinking about her sister! You shrugged. âCome on, you can tell me, you normally can keep up with everyone else. Whatâs going on?â Su said and ran her fingers through your hair.
âI didnât get much sleep last night. This party is bigger than what we normally do so Iâm also nervous about that.â You lied. âThereâs no need to be nervous. You know youâll do great, you're my little star.â Su said sweetly. âThanks Su.â You said. âOf course and you know youâre supposed to get some sleep, rest is important.â Su said. You nodded. âNow come on, we're going to practice.â Su said. âOk.â You said. Su helped you practice one on one. She stood behind you and guided your arms and hips. âThere you go. Now Iâm going to stop helping and you do it by yourself.â Su told you.
You nodded then did the whole dance routine by yourself. Su watched you intensely as you danced. You knew you were doing everything right. You know how to dance and follow choreography. Your mind was just clouded with Lin. Once you finished you looked at Su for approval. âThatâs my girl. Very good girl.â Su praised you. You smiled real big. âThanks Su.â You said. âYouâre welcome sweetie now go shower then say hello to everyone.â Su told you. âOk.â You said and ran off to go to your room. You took a long shower then did some makeup after your shower.
You wanted to smell good and look good for Lin. Once you were ready you went looking for Lin. âY/n!â You heard someone shout. You knew it wasnât Lin but it was ok. You turned and saw Mako. âHey!â You said and walked over to him. âGood to see ya, how are you?â Mako asked. âGood to see you too and Iâm good. How are you?â You asked him. âIâm good, you excited for your performance coming up in a few days?â Mako asked. âYeah Iâm really excited and Iâm so happy you guys are here.â You said. âHappy to be here to support you.â Mako said. âThanks Mako.â You said.
âCome on, let's go find Asami and Korra. You know theyâll be happy to see you.â Mako said. You nodded. Hopefully Lin is with Asami and Korra. When you found them they were with Opal talking but no sight of Lin. Where the hell was she? You gave Korra and Asami a hug and you guys talked for a while. âYou look so pretty.â Asami said. âThank you.â You said. You saw Lin walking with Kya while you were with everyone else and you wanted to run over to her but you didnât want to be weird. Ugh! You kept glancing over at her hoping she would notice. She always told you she knew when people were staring at her.
Lin eventually looked over at you and you smiled at her. âOh thereâs chief.â Mako said. You all made your way over to them and you gave Kya a hug then looked at Lin. âItâs good to see you again Lin.â You said sweetly and batted your lashes at her. âItâs good to see you again as well, Y/N.â Lin said. âOh the twins are having a power disk game soon, do you guys wanna come watch?â Opal asked. âI need to go get lunch I didnât eat after practice.â You said. âIâm surprised mom didnât yell at you.â Opal said. âShe doesnât know I havenât eaten yet.â You said. âMakes sense.â Opal said.
âIâm not interested in going, you all have fun.â Lin said. âOh come on aunty Lin.â Opal said. Lin shook her head. âFine, come on guys.â Opal said and led everyone away. âCome on, let's go get you some lunch.â Lin said. You smiled. You two headed out and went to go grab lunch. âIâm glad you could make it.â You told Lin. âI wouldnât miss you dancing for the world.â Lin said. âReally?â You asked. âYes really. Youâre a beautiful dancer.â Lin said. Your heart fluttered at her words. âI really missed you.â You said shyly. âI missed you too.â Lin said and put her hand on top of yours.
Oh now your heart was ready to leap out of your chest. After lunch you two made your way back home. âWriting letters back and forth is nice but itâs much better when weâre in person.â You said. âI agree I wish I could come visit more but you know criminals never stop.â Lin said. âCriminals suck but you do what you have to do to protect the city.â You said. âMaybe you could come visit me.â Lin said and held your hand. âYou want me to come visit you?â You asked. Lin nodded. âYou can stay with me when you come to visit.â Lin said. âI would like that.â You said. âGood we can plan something and Iâll show you all of Republic City as best as I can.â Lin said.
âI canât wait to see your city.â You said. Lin smiled. After a while it was time for dinner and you sat between Lin and Su. Under the table you and Lin kept touching hands. You were trying not to smile like an idiot but it was so hard. Everyone was laughing but your main focus was Lin. All you did was listen to her talk you love when she talks. Once dinner was over you went to your room and took a shower. You cleaned your face from makeup then washed your body. After your shower you put on your pjs and laid down on your bed.
There was a knock on your door and you sat up. âCome in.â You said. Su opened the door and came in with her eyes covered. âYou decent?â She teased. âYes Iâm decent.â You said and laughed. She uncovered her eyes. âDonât seem too decent to me.â Su said and closed the door. âWhat do you mean?â You asked. âThose shorts seem a little short and that tank top seems really tight.â Su teased. It was true that your tank top was tight. âI can see your nipples as well.â Su said and waggled her brows. You covered your nipples and laughed. âThey seem as hard as a rock, who were you thinking about?â Su teased as she sat next to you.
âNo one, it's just cold. I just got out of the shower.â You said. âMhm sure.â Su said. âIâm telling the truth.â You said. âAnyways make sure you get some rest. It's important. I need you to be my good girl tomorrow and keep up with everyone else, ok?â Su asked and ran her fingers through your hair. You leaned into her touch and smiled. âIâll be good, I promise.â You told her. âI know you will. Youâre always my good girl and you make me so happy.â Su said. âI always want to make you happy, Su.â You said. It was the truth you wanted to show her how good of a dancer you are and for her to be proud of you.
âYou make me very happy.â Su said. There was a knock at the door. âCome in.â You said. Lin walked into your room and she was surprised to see Su. Your heart fluttered at seeing Lin. âSu.â Lin said. âLinny.â Su said, then removed her hand from your hair. âI have that book you wanted to borrow. I just wanted to know if you want it now or later.â Lin said. âOh Iâll take it now please.â You said. Lin nodded. âIâll be back.â Lin said. âOk.â You said. Lin left your room. âDonât stay up late reading.â Su said. You nodded then she left your room.
After a while Lin came back and you smiled. She sat on your bed. âHi.â You said. âWhat was Su doing in here?â Lin asked. âOh she just wanted to make sure I donât stay up late because today I wasnât keeping up with everyone because I stayed up so late. I couldnât sleep.â You said. âSleep is important. You need to rest.â Lin said. âIâll sleep soon, I just want to spend time with you right now.â You said. âWeâll spend time together tomorrow I promise. After dance practice weâll go to lunch together again.â Lin said. You pouted. âDonât pout honey.â Lin said. âFine, I'll see you tomorrow for lunch." You said.
Lin left your room and sighed. You got comfortable in bed and fell asleep. When you woke up you went to the bathroom. You brushed your teeth then fixed your hair. After that you went to eat breakfast with everyone else. You and Lin sat next to each other and again you two were holding hands. When it was time to go dance you didnât want to because you wanted to spend time with Lin but you had to go dance. You did your best at practice because you wanted to show Su that you could keep up. You wanted to please her. After practice Su pulled you aside. âYou did so well today. I'm proud of you.â Su said.
âThank you Su.â You said. Su nodded then ran her fingers through your hair and you smiled. âYou were a very good girl today. Keep making me proud and keep up with everyone.â Su said. You nodded. âGo shower and then eat.â She told me. You nodded and ran off to go shower. After your shower you put on makeup then got dressed. There was a knock on your door. âCome in.â You said. Lin opened your door and you smiled. âHi.â You said. âYou ready?â Lin asked. âReady.â You said and walked over to her. âYou look beautiful.â Lin said. âThank you, you look beautiful as well.â You said. Lin nodded and you two left.
It was the day of the party and you were getting ready. You were running a little late but it was nothing serious. When you left your room you ran into Su. âThereâs my pretty girl.â Su said. âI know Iâm a little behind.â You said. âItâs ok honey you have plenty of time.â Su said as she walked over to you. âI know but I still shouldnât be late.â You said. âItâs ok. Are you gonna be my good girl and do well?â Su asked you and stroked your cheek. âIâm gonna do my best.â You said. âThatâs my girl.â Su said and pulled you close to her and you smiled. âSu.â You both turned and saw Lin. âWhat are you doing?â Lin asked.
âMind your business Lin.â Su said. âI thought I was seeing things when you were in Y/Nâs room but now I know Iâm not.â Lin said. You were so confused on what Lin was talking about. âLin, I told you to mind your business.â Su said. âSu youâre married.â Lin said. âLin mind your business.â Su said again. âIâm sorry but Iâm so confused right now.â You said. âSuyin, a married woman has been flirting with you the whole time.â Lin said. You looked at Su. âIs that true?â You asked Su. Su sighed then nodded. You had no idea what to say. âWhy couldnât you mind your business Lin?â Su asked.
âI have a performance to do.â You said and tried to walk away. âY/n.â Su said. âSu let her go perform.â Lin said. âLin go away. Why do you even care?â Su asked. âBecause youâre married and I like her.â Lin said. Oh there goes your heart again. âWell I like her too.â Su said. âAgain Su youâre married! Youâre just like mom canât hold a proper relationship.â Lin snapped. You couldnât believe they were arguing like this in front of you. âLin you havenât been in a relationship since Tenzin you have no clue how to love someone.â Su snapped.
There was a metal pole that came flying and you and Su ducked. âYou could have hit Y/n!â Su shouted. Lin didnât say and just sent the same pole to hit Su. Su went stumbling back. You got up and ran over to Lin. âStop it.â You told her. Lin pushed you up against the wall and you heard the pole clatter on the floor. âNow you could have hit Y/n.â Lin hissed. âYou just always have to get in my way.â Su snapped. âSu be so serious!â Lin yelled. The two of them kept arguing and you couldnât take it. âHey!â You shouted. They both look at you. âDonât I get a say in any of this?â You asked.
âOf course you do sweetie.â Su said. Lin nodded. You sighed. âSu you and I canât be together. Youâre married. Iâm not going to be anyone's affair partner or side piece. I canât do that. I deserve to be shown off and not hidden and thatâs how you and I will be. You'll have to hide me and I just canât do that and I like Lin. She gets me and I know she wonât hide me.â You said. Su just took a deep breath then nodded. âWell I hope you two are happy together. Letâs go so you can make it in time for your dance.â Su said. You nodded and you all left.
You made it to your performance and kept up with everyone and did amazing. Once your performance was over you went over to everyone and Lin immediately kissed you. You melted into her kiss. This is all youâve ever wanted. âWhen did you two start dating?â Korra asked. âToday.â You said with a big smile. You went over to your fellow dancers and Su hugged all of you. Once she got to you she held you tight. âIf you and Lin donât work out you can always come to me.â Su teased. âSu.â You said. âJust teasing but I hope she makes you happy.â Su said. Lin came over and Su let you go then gently pushed you over to Lin.
Lin held out her hand and you took it. She pulled you into her and you two kissed again. After the party you and Lin went back to your room. âThis has been an interesting night.â You said. âDid you really not notice Su was flirting with you?â Lin asked. âNo not at all, I thought she was just being silly. I didnât take anything she said in a flirty way like when she called me her good girl. I didn't think she meant it like that.â You said. âShe called you her good girl?â Lin asked. You nodded. âAnd you didnât take that as flirting at all?â Lin asked. âI thought she meant in a mentor way or something.â You said.
âSuch an oblivious girl.â Lin said and shook her head. You stuck your tongue out. âPut your tongue away before I make you put it to good use.â Lin said. âMake me.â You said then stuck your tongue out again. Lin pushed you onto the bed and climbed on top of you. You quickly put your tongue back in your mouth. âOh no no baby girl donât think you can behave now.â Lin said.

Icy Waters Vol. I
Chapter Twelve
Linâs hands shake as she approaches Kiko; her nervousness getting the better of her. Why am I so goddamn nervous!? Weâve practically been on what feels like hundreds of dates already. Â
The waterbender is currently sitting on a bench on Air Temple Island, having taken a break from the bustling dining room. Today marks yet another dinner with the whole family; the Beifongs, the Avatarâs family, along with Sokka and sometimes Suki. Kiko is of course still included in this.  Â
Lin had managed to sneak away while Katara was removing the plates from the table. She knows that she only has ten minutes or so before dessertâsweet bunsâare served. Â
The metalbender sits on the bench next to Kiko, her hands clutching onto the edge of the seat in a desperate attempt to suppress her nervous habits. Â
Kiko turns to face her, a small smile tugging at her lips, âHey.â Â
âHey.â Lin replies, ducking her face to hide her red-tinted cheeks. Â
âWhat brings you out here?â She asks. Â
Lin can only shrug, finally lifting her head to meet the waterbenderâs eyes, âJust busy in there, I guess.â  Â
âFinally had enough of Kyaâs teasing?â Kiko snickers. The Avatarâs daughter had figured out not long after the night of the festival that something had shifted between the two; her teasing has only gotten worse since. Â
Lin snorts that cute little laugh that her lover adores, âAlways. She's been doing it more since we got back.â  Â
Kiko hums, âDo you think we should tell her?â  Â
âNot just yet. I mean, we havenât even been on a proper date yet.â Lin acknowledges, her anxiety spiking once again as Kiko makes a sound of agreement. Â
âI suppose youâre right.â She muses. Â
There is a small silence between the two of them, short, but noticeable, before Lin speaks up again, âSpeaking of... is there any chance you would like to go out with me tomorrow?â  Â
She notices the waterbenderâs eyebrows raise comically, âIs that why your heart has been racing since you got out here?â  Â
How did she know that? Lin makes a mental note to ask her later, and shrugs, âYeah, I guess.â  Â
Kiko lets out a huff of a laugh, nodding, âI would love to, Lin.â She moves her hand from her lap to rest on Linâs thigh, making the metalbender lean into her touch more. âWhere are you taking me?â Â
Lin hums, âI was thinking Kwongâs.â  Â
âKwongâs? Thatâs a bit expensive.â Kiko notes.  Â
âWould you prefer to go somewhere else?â Lin asks softly, knowing how sensitive Kiko is about spending too much money, especially if itâs someone elseâs money. Â
The brunette thinks for a moment, before perking up a bit, âWhat about a picnic?â  Â
That could be fun, âHow would you want to do it? We each bring a few different bits?â  Â
Kikoâs smile widens, âIâm looking forward to it.â She teases, bumping her shoulder with Linâs affectionately. Â
---Â Â
âSo... are you going to tell me who this hot date is?â Kya teases, making eye contact with Kiko in the mirror. Â
The waterbender had finally built up the courage to have her cut her hair; it was long overdue. Her hair was an unruly mess, reaching below her ass in her braid. Â
Frankly, she hated having her hair cut. Â
It was a precious thing to herâsomething to be savoured. Her father always made sure to let her know. Â
âYour hair is sacred, my girl. Be careful with who you let touch it.â Kiko knows that it is more of a Fire Nation tradition to savour hair, but since her father spoke those words, her young and impressionable self took it to heart âdespite their admittedly rocky relationship. Â
She supposes that it just continued into adulthood. Â
Admittedly, there was another reason; since that night sheâs always been wary of people touching her hair. Purely from the muscle memory reaction to how she had been treated that night. It was a recurring nightmare, after all. Â
The young girl yelps as her father tightens his grip on her hair, âWhat do you have to say for yourself? Huh!? Youâre a liability, I knew it from the start!â  He pulls her head up by her hair further, tugging tightly on her scalp.Â
âIâm sorry!â  She wails desperately, watching her fatherâs heavy hand approach her face at lightning speed, a sharp strike ringing out through the night. Â
Her eyes avoid her fatherâs locked onto the body in the centre of the living room, blood pooling out from beneath her mother. Â
âItâs your fault, Sehira. If it werenât for you, she would still be here.â  Â
The waterbender shakes her head in response to her friend, simultaneously trying to shake off the memory as Kya threads her fingers through her loosened braid, âNope.â Â
âBoooring.â Kya drags out, removing the intricate bands from Kikoâs hair. She seems to have dropped the curiosity as she mutters, âHow do you do this every week?â Â
The older waterbender places Kikoâs blue bands onto the bathroom counter as she takes a brush to her hair. Kiko shrugs, âIâve always been doing it. It's just second nature to me at this point.â Â
Realising that her tone is a little dim, Kya continues, âDo you not want to go on this date or something? You seem really down.â Â
âYou know I donât like doing this, Kya.â Kiko rolls her eyes, trying to fight of the instinct of hyperventilating that comes with people touching her hair. Â
âIt wonât be long.â The healer assures, âYou only want two inches off, right?â Â
Kiko nods, âYes please.â Â
Kya begins snipping away at Kikoâs hair gently, trying desperately not to tug too hard or do anything that would spook the waterbender in front of her. She would hate for that to happen. Â
The older waterbender is extremely grateful that her friend even trusts her enough to allow her to touch her hair. She doesnât know about the sensitive history behind it, only that the feeling of someone touching it sends her into fight or flight. Â
The only thing she can really do is try to keep her as distracted and comfortable as she can. Â
âSo, sheâs hot then?â Kya attempts to return to the prior conversation, and luckily, Kiko lets her. Â
The sitting waterbender snickers a little, âNosier than normal today, arenât you?â The question is more of a statement, but still Kya jokingly shakes her head. Â
âI would never!â She takes a subtle break from the hair cutting to place her hand over her heart, as if sheâd been wounded. Â
Kiko scoffs, âYeah, right. How many times in the past weeks have you asked me about Lin?â Â
âCome on, itâs like a romance story is unfolding right in front of my eyes; you canât blame me for wanting to know!â The waterbender pauses, âAnd now youâre going out on a date and you won't even tell me who it is!â She has a faux offended tone to lay the guilt on thick. Â
âNo, Iâm not going to tell you who it is because youâll only get worse!â Kiko thinks that Kya definitely has a sneaking suspicion that sheâs going out with Lin, going by the sly smirk plastered on her lips. Thankfully, she doesnât mention it. Â
She and Lin have agreed not to tell anyone until they are both ready; and that might take a while. Â
Even so, Kiko canât wait to be able to show off her girlfriend on her arm. She hopes that they will be more open about it before Lin gets her promotion so that she can be happily paraded around on her arm.Â
The thought of Lin in her work uniform; white shirt, the top button that she keeps unbuttoned showing off a sliver of her porcelain collarbone, and those wide leg trousers that show off her gorgeous hips. Kiko canât help the smile tugging at her lips at the thought. Who wouldâve thought? All I needed to do to prevent high levels of anxiety when getting my hair cut was think of Lin? Â
âWhat are you smiling at?â Kya interrupts the comfortable silence. Â
Kiko shakes her head, smile not leaving her lips, âItâs nothing.â Â
âThinking of your date?â Kya asks, which only confirms to Kiko that she knows itâs Lin. Sheâs grateful that she doesnât mention it. Â
Kiko only hums, tugging on the towel that she has around her shoulders, revelling in the feeling of the heavy weight of her hair being cut. Â
It takes around 30 minutes for Kya to completely finish with Kikoâs hair, sending her off for a shower to get rid of the excess hair that fell on her shoulders and around her body. Â
The younger waterbender thanked her best friend profusely for being so gentle with her, as she always is when cutting her hair. Â
She utilises the hour and a half before sheâs meant to be at the docks on the mainland, where Lin is meant to be picking her up. She can only hope that Kya isnât going to get any funny ideas and follow her on the boat. Â
Kiko walks out of her connected bathroom in only a towel, taking a deep breath of the clean air wafting in from her open window in an attempt to calm down a little. It works partly to calm her nerves; the deep breaths slowing her heart rate back to normal from after her hair cut. Â
She has to admitâit does look far better than it had before. It had been a bit unruly and untameable prior to Kya cutting it; flyaways coming out of her braid after five minutes and bangs covering her eyes. Â
The waterbender walks over to her closet to pick out something to wearâher next dilemma. I donât know what to wear to dates! I havenât gone on one since before I moved to Republic City, and that was with a man, so it hardly counts. Â
Despite her anxious inner monologue, she filters through the hanging shirts and the occasional dress in her wardrobe, which was, admittedly, a little messier than sheâd like to admit. Â
Which is why she nearly completely missed the light green qipao hanging between two of her black work shirts. Where in the spirits did this come from?! She pulls it out from between the shirts and holds it up to her body. Â
It was a gorgeous dress; pear-green with a subtle floral pattern that looks to be embroidered with a slightly darker green shimmery thread. And it fit her perfectly. Â
What a coincidence. Â
Kiko huffs slightly, knowing that Kya was definitely the one to have left it in her room. She also now understands that Kya definitely knows about her and Lin. Great. Just great. Â
Even though she hates the idea of someone spending money on her, Kiko canât help but admire the sight of herself with the dress, despite the fact that she is only holding it up to her body. Â
After a few moments of careful consideration, Kiko just rolls her eyes at herself. Â
Screw it. Â
She places the dress down carefully on the bed, ensuring that it doesnât gain any wrinkles before untying her towel from her side and throwing it carelessly on the other side of the bed. Â
Lacey underwear? Why not. She digs through her underwear drawers to find a nice pair, just in case I get laid tonight. Â
After getting dressed, Kiko canât help but admire herself in the mirror. Hair freshly done, even having decided to change it up a little for the occasion with two braids instead of one for once. I should do it like this more often. Â
She smooths her hand over a tiny wrinkle in her dress, wanting it to be perfect despite knowing that it will get wrinkled on the ferry to the mainland. Â
The waterbender shakes her head in spite of herself and lets out a small, calming breath. Â
âYou can do this.â She whispers to no one in particular, just an attempt at reassuring herself. Â
Taking one last glance in the mirror, Kiko picks up her towel to put into the bathroom and exits her bedroom, new found confidence and excitement coursing through her. Â
She enters the kitchen, where a few members of the family are currently congregating to speak to Katara. However, the room quickly goes silent when she walks in. Â
âIs something wrong?â Kiko is hesitant to ask. Â
She notices Kyaâs soft smile behind Tenzin, not a hint of teasing on her face, âWhy are you all dressed up?â Tenzin asks, a slight sneer in his voice. Â
âIâve got a date.â She answers simply, not letting Tenzinâs impoliteness get to her. Â
â Youâve got a date?â He asks again, as if itâs a completely implausible idea. Â
Oh, was Kiko tempted to just outright tell him who her date was and rub it in his face. Yeah, you know the girl youâve been in love with for just about your whole life? Itâs her. Â
Instead, she only rolls her eyes, with a bit of a mocking smile tugging at her lips when Aang tells his son off, âDonât be rude, Tenzin. Kiko looks wonderful.â The Avatar smiles at her, âWe all hope you have a wonderful night tonight, my dear.â Â
âOur girl going on her first date!â Katara pretends to wipe a tear from her eye. Â
Kiko canât help but blush at the insinuation that she is their daughter, instead deciding not commenting on it and just hugging the healer instead. She whispers a small thank you to her mother figure, before walking to the fridge and pulling out some of the things she had made for her and Linâs picnic. Â
Thanks to their many dinner dates prior to even getting together, Kiko knows exactly what to make; one of her favourite Water Tribe dishesâfish cakes as well as a delicious Air Nation desert that Aang had taught her how to makeâsweet red bean cake. No matter how many times she insists she doesnât like sweet stuff, I can see right through her. She goes through the majority of the plate of these when sheâs over for dinner. Â
Kiko chuckles under her breath at the thought and packs the dishes into a basket that Katara has lent her, along with some other bits and pieces like some classic vegetable dumplings (Katara wouldnât let her cook meat on the island) and two egg custard tarts, considering theyâre Linâs favourite. Â
By now, the family had gone back to bickering indistinctly, allowing Kiko to sneak out of the temple easily. She takes in the peaceful atmosphere of the island; the sun still slightly peaking over the horizon and gently breeze. Â
However, her peace is soon broken by the footsteps of someone behind her. Before the waterbender can do anything to detain whoever is following her, her nerves are calmed by Kyaâs voice. Â
âI really do hope you have a good time, yâknow.â Kiko raises her eyebrow at her, clutching the basket sheâs holding over her forearm, âI know that we have history, but Iâm so happy you and Lin found each other.â Â
Kiko smiles softly, her hand reaching out to gently rest on her best friendâs shoulder, âThank you, Kya.â They both stand in silence for a few moments, âAnd thank you for this.â She gestures to the perfectly fitting dress. Â
âDonât mention it.â Â
Their eyes meet for a few moments, but it doesnât imply anything further than platonic love. Â
I really do love Kya. Â
Kiko takes a deep breath, stepping back slightly from the older waterbender and smiling brightly, Iâll see you tomorrow.â Â
Kya snickers, her usual teasing tone returning to her voice, âDonât do anything I wouldnât do!â She shouts after the retreating waterbender. Â
âThereâs not much you wouldnât do!â Kiko shouts back, throwing her one last glance over her shoulder. Â
---Â Â
Kikoâs heart is pounding as the ferry approaches the docks; the shining lights of the bustling city almost blinding her in her bright-eyed admiration. Â
The boat jostles slightly, and if that didnât indicate their arrival, then the boisterous shout of the captain from the stern wouldâve. Â
The waterbender nods her head and thanks the captain as she departs, noting the fact that there was no one trying to travel to Air Temple Island. Makes sense, itâs getting late. Â
However, her focus was completely diverted as soon as she noticed Lin leaning against the passenger door on her Satomobile, waiting for her. She was wearing a silky green shirt that was suspiciously similar to the colour of Kikoâs dress that was tightly fitted to her strong body. Kiko's mouth almost waters at the sight of it straining over her biceps. Lin was also wearing dark brown trousers that were form fitted to her hips and thighs, before widening out below her knees and covering her black combat boots. Â
What makes the waterbender really swoon, though, was the change in hairstyle. Looks like we both decided to change out hair up a bit tonight. Instead of her usual pinned up short style, her hair is down and reaching the tops of her shoulders, in all of its curly glory. Â
Kiko quickly walks up to her, Linâs head immediately perking up as she notices her lover approaching. They embrace happily, Kikoâs nose pressed into Linâs freshly washed and silky hair happily. Â
Lin pulls back, taking a glance at her partnerâs painted lips before realising they were in public, catching a few slightly disapproving looks from the few bystanders. Â
Kiko clears her throat, an air of slight awkwardness surrounding them, âSo... where are you taking me?â Â
âYouâll just have to find out, wonât you?â Lin teases, taking the basket from Kikoâs arms and putting it on back seat next to a bag of, presumably, her own food, before getting in the driverâs side. Â
Kiko hauls herself into the passenger seat, watching the sea as they drive further from the docks, curiosity plaguing her as she notices Lin driving to the outskirts of the city. Â
Her eyebrows furrow in confusion, âWhere in the spirits are we going?â She asks, no harshness in her tone. Â
Lin only lets out a chuckle under her breath and reaches over to take Kikoâs hand that had been resting in her lap, âWeâre nearly there. Have patience.â Â
It takes about ten more minutes before they arrive at Linâs intended destination; a familiar spot to Kiko. It is where she and Kya would hike out to with some lillyweed after a particularly stressful day at work. Â
The waterbenderâs eyes widen when Lin stops the car at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the sea, the coastline of Republic City and even Air Temple Island. The sight causes a sudden rush of deja vu to rush over her, having not returned here since Lin arrested her and Kya. Â
The metalbender can only snicker lightly at her partnerâs reaction; amusement taking over her as she releases Kikoâs hand and opens the door. Â
âShocked?â Â
Kiko also decides to get out of the car, walking straight to the edge âat a safe distance, knowing that Lin would kill her if she got too closeâand inhales the clean air. Â
While she loves Republic City, all she misses is the clean and natural air of the North Pole. You donât get that in a big city; pollution becoming an increasing problem with the growth in popularity of carsâand airships if you were rich. Â
Lin approaches behind her, timidly placing a hand on the small of Kikoâs back, âYeah, I am.â The metalbender responds calmly, Linâs touch knocking her out of her thoughts. Â
She notices the checkered blanket in her hands, taking it and holding on to two of the corners and allowing Lin to take the other two to help lay it on the ground. Â
---Â Â
âNo way that actually happened!â Lin exclaims, laughter breaking through her words as she tears a piece of her last sweet red bean cake to throw in her mouth. Â
âIâm telling you! We got to the main squareâsince we lived quite far from the village and he went head first into the river!â Kiko cackles loudly, âI was embarrassed for him. I mean, it was set up by our parents; two awkward fourteen year olds, one of which was a lesbian and the poor guy went and embarrassed himself further.â She shakes her head in amusement, admiring the bright smile that is tugging at Linâs glossy lips. Â
She looks ethereal tonight (not that she ever doesnât), with not only the clothes that Kiko wants to tear straight off, but also the subtle makeup that she applied. The waterbender knows that she wears makeup on a semi-daily basis, but tonight she had put on some dark mascara to emphasise her emerald green eyes and shiny lip gloss. Â
Kiko looks at her with loving eyes as Lin responds, âI bet that was hilarious! Embarrassing, but hilarious!â Â
âIt was. I felt horrible for him though, I had to waterbend him out, since he couldnât do it himself, poor guy.â Kiko really did feel horrible for him, but she canât help but snicker at the fond memory. âWe became friends after that; he knew that I wasnât into men and he didnât like the thought of dating someone after such an embarrassing incident. Let's just say I didnât let him forget about it.â The waterbender trails off a little, stuck in her own memories. Â
The atmosphere between the two women has calmed slightly âtheir food having been finished off and the sides of their bodies having been moved flush together long ago. Their heads are leaning against each otherâs comfortably, Linâs hand fiddling gently with the back of Kikoâs dress. Â
The two sit in a comfortable silence for a few moments, before Lin speaks up reluctantly, âDo you ever miss it... your home?â Â
The waterbender takes a few moments to think; the heavy question laying heavy on her mind, âSome parts of it.â She pauses, âI miss the coldness, and my step-mother. I miss when my brothers were happy.â Â
âDo you speak to them anymore?â Lin asks, a bit more confidence with her questions after Kiko answered the first one. Â
âI havenât seen them since just before I moved. One of them disappeared; I have no idea where he went, and the other stayed in the North Pole.â Â
Lin only hums, pressing her lips into the side of Kikoâs shoulder for a moment, before resting her head back in the same position, âI donât know what Iâd do without Su.â Kiko makes a small noise, as if prompting her to continue, âSheâs my little sister, and I love her, despite the fact that she annoys the hell out of me.â Â
Kiko snickers slightly, a smile once again on her painted lips, âI once had that with them. I was the oldest, and they annoyed me incessantly, but I still loved them... I still tried to look after them.â She laughs again, slightly louder than the previous, âSu is a sweet kid. She's energetic and loud, but sheâs adorable.â Â
âNot so adorable when she hassles you constantly for food and steals your stuff.â Lin adds, slightly cynically, but her tone only makes Kiko laugh louder. Â
âYouâll miss it one day... when youâre both older and donât see each other as often as you do now.â Kiko shakes her head, settling to look at her partner. Â
Lin turns her head, too, their eyes meeting in the intimate darkness. Kiko notices the slight blush thatâs creeping up the metalbenderâs cheeks at their closeness. She can guarantee that no matter how many years they will be together, sheâll never get over that cute redness that stains her cheeks in embarrassment. Â
Kiko only smiles at her, before lying back fully on the blanket, âYouâre cute, Beifong.â Â
It's clear the metalbender wasnât expecting that, if the confused hum was anything to go by. Â
She raises an eyebrow in confusion, so Kiko clarifies for her, âWhenever I get close to you, you get this cute blush.â She snickers, âHow many times have you stuck your tongue down my throat by now?â The waterbender decides to tack on to tease her further, enjoying how she turns away in embarrassment. Â
âShut up.â Lin hisses, no real malice in her voice. Â
âYouâve gotta get used to it, Beifong. Youâre stuck with me.â Kiko tilts her head to admire the black-haired girl in front of her, Lin desperately trying to repress her giddy smile. Â
âYou talk too much, you know that? Â
âOh, come on. You love it really.â Kiko moves her arm from behind her head to touch the small of her back, fiddling with the silky fabric that is probably worth more than she earns in four months. Â
Lin can feel goosebumps erupt on her skin under the waterbenderâs cold touch, her back arching slightly instinctively. As if to counteract her reflex, she lies down on the blanket next to her partner, curling her body into her side. Â
Kiko hums as she feels Lin bury her face into the side of her neck, the feeling sending a shiver down her spine. Â
âI do.â The metalbender says simply in response to Kikoâs gentle jesting. Â
The brunette doesnât respond, only turning her head to press a kiss to Linâs forehead, before turning her own body around to face her. Â
It's a somewhat familiar position by now; the two having slept like this for almost every night they could on Ember Island, as well as on the boat back to Republic City. Kiko misses it, however. Having moments to themselves to spend time together and just enjoy each otherâs companies has become very few and far between since returning. Â
But that all disappears as Kiko looks at her; the woman who has supported her unconditionally thus far, despite their rocky meeting and Kikoâs less than conventional life prior to the one she has now. Â
Lin knocks her out of her thoughts quickly, her lips capturing Kikoâs. There's an underlying passion that hadnât existed before, one of her hands coming up to cup the waterbenderâs cheek and the other resting tightly on her hip. Â
She's never been this bold before, Kiko thinks with a hint of amusement, kissing her lover back with the same amount of passion and intimacy, leaning over her slightly and threading a hand through her soft black hair. Â
Lin lets out a little hum at the intensity, their tongues quickly meeting and fighting for dominance, of which the metalbender quickly sacrificed if not for the head-spinning way Kiko tugs on the roots of her hair. Her hips buck subtly, sending a wave of embarrassment over Lin, despite the fact that Kiko didnât seem to acknowledge the movement. Â
They continue kissing, before Kiko detaches from Linâs lips, a mixture of thick lip gloss and saliva connecting them. A small whine escapes Linâs lips at the loss of contact, before Kiko dips her head down to press hot, wet kisses along her jugular, feeling the high-pressure blood pumping through. Â
The waterbender uses her grip on Linâs hair to tug her head back slightly, baring her throat for her to be able to nip down her neck. Kiko appreciates the milky skin of her collarbone, something she always teases in her work uniform, by planting firm kisses along the protruding bone, before pulling away to bring her face back up to her partnersâ. Â
She connects their lips for a deep kiss, only lasting a moment before pulling away again, âCan I mark you?â Kiko whispers against Linâs mouth. Â
Lin doesnât quite know what to say; her brain foggy and cheeks burning. Before she can think of the consequences, she nods eagerly, raising a hand to the waterbenderâs hair and pushing her further down gently. Â
Kiko has her hand braced by the side of Linâs face, now, holding her weight up. The other hand, however, is inching up the metalbenderâs waist at an achingly slow, teasing pace. Meanwhile, her back arches slightly at the feeling of Kikoâs teeth dragging against her neck, the feeling sending a shiver down her spine and causing heat to pool in her abdomen. Â
She can feel Kiko sucking a deep mark into her neck, knowing that itâs going to leave a nasty bruise there for at least three days. Linâs back arches further into Kikoâs body at the feeling of her hand reaching the side of her breast, not properly touching, but the weight there sends a spike of arousal down her body. Â
Gently bringing her hand to the back of Kikoâs head, she pulls her away, âWait...â She breathes out, attempting desperately to catch her breath. Â
The waterbender immediately detaches from her place on her neck, eyebrows furrowed in concern as she faces her partner, âHmm?â Â
âWe should head back to my place...â The metalbender sighs out. Â
Kiko's pupils dilate at that, nodding breathlessly before kneeling on the side of Linâs body and outstretching a hand for her to take. Â
The couple make their way back to the car in almost complete silence, the only sound being their heavy breaths and once in the car, the quiet static radio. Lin keeps her hand on Kikoâs thigh when driving back to Linâs apartmentâsqueezing gently at the soft flesh. Â
---Â Â
Linâs grateful when they get home, even though the sexual tension that had built up between the two had calmed down to a comfortable atmosphere. Â
While Lin wouldâve been happy to have sex with her partner that night, she doubts Kiko would have agreedâseeing as they had both agreed to take it slow. Why did I ever agree to this whole taking it slow thing?! Lin thinks frustratedly. Â
Despite her slight disappointment at the fact that she wasnât getting railed tonight, Lin places both of the baskets in her small kitchen, while Kiko pours two glasses of the nice wine that she had brought for the both of them. Â
Sheâs standing at the counter, trying to get an equal amount of wine in each glass, before startling slightly when Lin approaches her from behind and buries her face between her shoulder blades. The sudden contact made her jump, but she was lucky not to spill any of the expensive wine all over the countertop. Â
The two stand in silence while Kiko pours the wine, before she picks up both glasses and gently moves the two to the couch, making herself comfortable on the soft cushions. Â
The waterbender passes Lin her glass, before taking a hefty sip and sighing contentedly, âThatâs the stuff.â She mutters into the rim of her glass. Â
Lin nods in agreement, despite not being much of a wine drinker, before setting it down on the coffee table and snuggling closer to her partner, âThis has been nice.â She mutters, not one for words. Â
Kiko only lets out a hum of agreement, resting one arm over the back of the sofa, âI really have had a great time, Lin. Thank you for this.â She places a soft kiss against her loverâs forehead, loving the way her nose scrunches up at the contact. Â
The two sit on the couch and chat for a good three hours, until both of their eyes are drooping and threatening to send them to sleep. Â
Instead of trying to fight it, the two make their way to Linâs bedroom, where Kiko notices that she doesnât have any clothes to wear, which prompts Lin to dig through her drawer until she finds a shirt and shorts that looked like they would fit her. Â
âThis is my shirt!â Kiko exclaims, noticing the bright letters of one of her favourite bands slayed across the top of the shirt. Â
Lin is thankful that their backs are to each other in that moment, her blush creeping up once again, âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â Â
âYeah, right. Shirt thief.â Kiko teases her, not actually mad at the shirt stealing. Â
Lin's the first to get in bed, lying on her side to face the wall, before she feels the bed dipping beside her and arms wrapping tightly around her waist. Â
Kiko presses a soft kiss to Linâs shoulder, her warm breath against her skin as she whispers her goodnight wishes, âNight, Lin. Sleep well.â One of her hands around her waist tightens in comfort. Â
Lin does the same, one of her hands clutching Kikoâs and whispering her own goodnight into the darkness of the room, âGoodnight Kiko...â Â

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 25
CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD
Korraâs POV
The slam of the door echoes across the dining room followed by an intense silence. No-one says anything for a few seconds.
I turn to Suyin, giving her a sympathy gaze. âI am so sorry for that. That was uncalled for.â
âApology accepted!â Varrick replies, voice loud and booming. âNow, if you all donât mind, Iâm going to dive right in. Iâm famished!â
Ignoring the businessman, I continue staring at Suyin. The anger that was present within her eyes has now diminished.
âIs your friend normally like that?â She eventually asks, voice now calm and controlled.
I shake my head. âNo. They arenât.â
Looking back at the now closed door, I narrow my eyes in deep concentration.
Where did all of that come from? What was Y/Nâs problem? Suyin has been nothing but kind to us! What they said about her was just mean! Whatâs gotten into them?
Ever since weâve left Air Temple Island, Y/N has been actingâŚoff. Somethingâs bothering them. Iâve been so busy on finding the airbenders that Iâve neglected my best friendâs feelings. Still, thatâs no excuse to treat Suyin like that.
Sighing heavily, I turn back to my food. âIâll have a word with them later when theyâve cooled off.â
âMake sure you do.â The matriarch replies, also turning her attention back to her food.
I still stare at my food, untouched for the past few minutes.
First Lin. Now Y/N?
Can things get any worse?
Y/NâS POV
I storm through the corridors of the maze-like building, hoping to find a way out of this obnoxious place. My fiery rage from my debate with the matriarch still goes strong. If anything, the anger is amplifying.
Each step I take, the flames within grow. Each step I take, the dragonâs voice at the back at my mind becomes louder and louder and louder.
Suyin is corrupt. Just like the Earth Queen. Just like Tarrlok and most of the Republic City Council were. They are all the same.
No, stop it.
Stop denying. You know itâs true. Suyin puts on a noble façade with a fake smile, but she is just as bad. Maybe even worse.
No! Tarrlok and most of the City Council treated all non-benders like they were Equalists! The Earth Queen rules with an iron fist and treats her people like theyâre objects! Suyin doesnât do that!
Suyinâs methods are different, but her rule is the same tiresome, infuriating theme as theirs. Arrogant, self-absorbed egomaniacs who attempt to make their vision a reality whether the public like it or not. Tarrlok tried to be Republic Cityâs saviour and ended up as bad as his father, but he never sugar-coated his actions. He accepted them for what they were. The Earth Queen doesnât hide her true self either. She is what she is and sheâs proud of it. But Suyin? Either sheâs oblivious and painfully unaware of who she really is or sheâs lying to herself. She hides her true self. She phrases her actions as kindness and honourable. That is why sheâs worse.
I said stop!
Suyin has the majority wrapped around her little finger.
Her family.
Her city.
Asami.
Bolin.
Mako.
Korra-
STOP!
The intrusive thoughts, the dragon, goes dead silent.
I slow down my steps, the door to the outside in my vision.
Suyin is flawed, hypocritical, and arrogant, but she isnât as bad as the others. Sheâs trying to bring a positive force. She leads a beautiful city and has an amazing family. Sheâs flawed, not evil. Flawed, not evil. Flawed, not evil.
This time, the dragon is dead silent.
Good.
The anger, while still present, has diminished slightly.
I just need some fresh air. Yeah, some fresh air. Maybe I can leave the city and explore one of the nearby mountains. Go and walk around the natural environments. Yeah, that will be nice. Calm. Peaceful and relaxing. When, Iâm done I will go to bed. Yeah, that sounds nice.
Taking a deep, long, breath and releasing it in a soothing exhale I open the doors, expecting to see the starry night skyâŚ
Only to see metal surrounding the sky!
WHAT?!
Domes surround the city when its night?!
DAMMIT!
âUGH!â I groan loudly, throwing my arms into the air. âI canât even look at the stars now?!â
First no secrets at all, then not allowing Opal to leave, then Varrick, and now I canât even see the night sky?!
I march around the area, not really paying any attention to my surroundings, until I eventually reach to some sort of metal bench. Sitting down with a loud huff, I bury my face into my palms and rub them against my features rapidly.
I thought getting airbending was a dream come true. In my early childhood I longed to have bending. Now I get what my toddler-self wished for and everything goes downhill. First, my parents. Then, the Earth Queen and her corruption. Then this Zaheer and a bunch of criminals. Now this.
Whatâs worse is none of my friends even seem to care. Not even Korra, my best friend. Sure, we havenât always seen eye to eye but our differences in our beliefs havenât always been this stark.
Thereâs got to be someone who gets what Iâm saying, right?
âExcuse me, are you all right?â
I whip my head upwards and see on of the Zaofu guards standing before me. Sheâs wearing big metal plates covering her form, her helmet with three dagger-like spikes on it covering most of her head. However, I notice her grass pupils and a tiny black mole underneath her right eye.
âUh, yeah.â I tell her, dropping my hands back onto my knees. âYeah, Iâm fine.â
The expression on the guardâs face doesnât change in the slightest. âDo you wish to be escorted back to the dining room of the Beifong Household?â
âNo!â I rush out, causing the guard to jump back slightly in surprise. I regain my composure and respond in a more controlled manner. âNo, Iâm fine. That is the last thing I want to go right now.â
This time, I see a flash of curiosity painted across the guardâs face. âIs there a problem?â
I sigh. âTo be blunt, I had an argument with your matriarch.â
Her expression, again, changes very little. All I see is a slight frown. âI see.â
Shit, did I make her mad? Oh, who am I kidding? Suyin is the cityâs leader! Of course, her guards are going to be mad!
Rising from my bench and dusting off my clothes, I face the guard. âI hope I didnât intrude or disturb you from your duties. I just wanted to have some fresh air but, much to my disappointment, I was greeted by the metal domes.â
âI understand your frustration.â She sympathises, her tone having no trace of anger or annoyance from my earlier comments. âHowever, they are a vital addition to the security of Zaofu. It helps keep the public protected.â
âYes, of course.â I reply. âSuyin called it the safest city in the world. However, I fear she has sacrificed some freedom for maximum security.â Knowing who I am talking to, I raise my hands in an apologetic gesture. âNot to discredit your job and your effectiveness, Iâm sure you and the rest of the guards are great, but surely you can understand what Iâm saying, right?â
The guard doesnât respond for a moment, her face neutral. I can almost hear the cogs turning in her head.
âI do.â She finally says. âHowever, I believe that it is necessary. Without that protection, our freedom can easily be taken away.â
Hm. An interesting perspective.
I nod in understanding. âI get that. Still, I just find it frustrating. Doesnât help that Varrick is here.â
As soon as the name of the businessman leaves my lips, I notice it. A flicker of irritation in the guardâs pupils.
âTheâŚinventor, right?â she asks, voice gruff.
I hum in confirmation. âAfter all the shit heâs done, he gets away with it all and ends up living the life here. Itâs a misuse of justice. Thatâs what my argument with Suyin was about. She wouldnât hear any of it. Even my friends wouldnât listen. Not a single person agreed with me. Itâs frustrating!â
Finishing my rant, I notice the guard staring at me withâŚcuriosity? Familiarity? Something else entirely?
I let out a tense breath, scratching the back of my head. âSorry, I didnât mean to rant to you. Iâll leave you back to your duties.â
âI agree.â
Huh?
I whip back to the guard. Her face is once again neutral.
âIâm sorry?â
âI agree with you.â
âOhâŚâ
I open my mouth but close it again having failed to find my words. After a quick swallow, I speak up once more with confusion. âIâŚI was under the impression you would have sided with your matriarch.â
Then, much to my surprise, a pretty smirk forms on her lips. âI may be Suyinâs guard, but I donât believe in everything she does. I am a person, after all.â
OhâŚwell, thatâs true.
Chuckling with a sheepish smile, I cross my arms together. âI guess so. And who is the person I am talking to?
Her smirk widens slightly, and she stretches out her hand.
âKuvira.â
I take her hand.
âY/N.â
âI know. Suyin had me do a background check on you and your friends.â
âOhâŚyeah. Forgot about that.â
She chuckles. Itâs nice.
When the handshake ends, I gaze back at the buildings at the edge of the dome.
âI should probably head to bed.â I tell her. I gaze back Kuvira and give her a small smile. âIt was nice meeting you. Itâs refreshing to find a like-minded individual.â
Kuvira smiles in return. âThe feeling is mutual. Perhaps, we could meet again the following day?â
My eyebrows perk up in surprise. She wants to hang out? Well, it will be better than dealing with awkwardness with me and the others whilst meeting a new friend. Plus, maybe I can get to learn more about Zaofu.
âSure!â I tell her. âWhere and when?â
âHere at nine?â
âAn early bird, huh?â
âThat is required when you have a job like mine.â
âIndeed. See you at nine, Kuvira.â
âAnd I you, Y/N.â
We exchange goodbyes and, just like that, we head our separate ways. Kuvira is probably going back on her patrol whilst I walk to my guest room.
At least one good thing came out of tonight.
That good mood didnât last long, though. Soon after I return to my room, I am interrupted with some pounding knocks.
âY/N, we need to talk.â
Shit. Itâs Korra.
Sighing heavily, I slowly but surely walk up to the door and open it and in front of me I see a very pissed Korra.
âThat was out of order, Y/N. What in the spirits were you thinking?!â
Frowning slightly, I cross my arms. âWhat I was thinking was giving Suyin some rightfully deserved criticism. Itâs about time someone gave her the harsh reality.â
My response only seems to anger Korra who places a hand on her hips. âWhat you did was humiliate her in front of her family. She was trying to do something good, and you threw it in her face.â
Something good? Seriously?!
âYouâre telling me after everything Varrick has done you are okay with him escaping punishment?â I ask her. âYou were there when he bombed the Southern Water Tribe Cultural Center. So many people could have been hurt!â
The features of my best friendâs face softens slightly. âI was confused initially and I see where youâre coming from. But Suyin is trying to better Varrick and Zaofu by-â
â-Donât give me that!â I interrupt, throwing my arms up in the air. âSheâs doing it for herself.â
The softness on Korraâs face hardens once more. âVarrick is leading her technology division that can benefit the city and its people.â
âWhich will benefit Suyin and her reputation.â I counter smoothly. âI see through her act.â
âYou think too lowly of her.â
âAnd you think too highly of her.â
We both go dead silent for an intense moment. The air is thick and suffocating.
I let out a deep and heavy breathe, rubbing my hair with my palm. âI donât want to end our night in a fight.â
Korraâs face softens once more and her gaze casts downward. âMe neither. Things are already awkward with Lin and Suyin. I donât want things to be awkward between us too.â
Pinching the bridge of my nose, I let out yet another sigh. âLook, I wonât apologise to Suyin. I think she deserved it. However, Iâll try to tolerate her while weâre still in Zaofu. For you.â
Looking back up, I see Korra nod slowly and a tiny smile form on her lips. âOkay. Thank you.â
I smile back. âDonât mention it. Have a good night, Korra.â
âYou too, Y/N.â
Closing the door, I lean backwards on the door with the back of my head pressed against it, revealed that the moment is over. I can still feel the bittersweetness of the departure.
Letâs hope tomorrow is better.
TIME SKIP
I stand in the same place as the night before, five minutes before nine. I make sure to got up early to avoid any awkward meetings. I havenât spoken to the others else since Korra and I donât particularly want to join them at breakfast. Despite telling her that Iâll try to tolerate Suyin, I still fear that she will somehow get a reaction out of me. Itâs best I stay out of the matriarchâs way for now.
âImpeccable timing.â
I turn to the source of the voice, and I pause.
There, in front of me, is Kuvira standing tall and proud. Now absent of her heavy armour representing the Zaofu Guard and replaced with the known green robes that typical citizens wear. No longer wearing her helmet, I can see her jet-black hair tied up into a ponytail. Sheâs stunning.
Feeling my cheeks warm slightly, I cough awkwardly. âOf course.â
Kuvira doesnât react to the scene playing out before her. She tilts her head in a questioning way. âHave you had breakfast?â
I open my mouth to answer her question but instead of words, the answer is the growling of my stomach. Shit.
Kuvira smirks. âI guess not.â
With a sheepish grin, I rub the back of my neck. âYeah, I decided to skip breakfast with the others. I didnât want to risk causing another argument.â
Listening to my explanation, the smirk fades from her lips. Then, the guard turns and starts walking. âCome. I know a place we can eat.â
Huh?
Rushing forward to catch up, I walk side-by-side with her. âWe?â
âI havenât had the chance to eat either.â Kuvira explains. âI know a good place that serves good food. Besides, this will be an opportunity for you to see more of Zaofu.â
OhâŚ
ThatâsâŚsweet.
As she leads me to the train that leads us to another section of the city, I have more look at the intrinsic building. They scream of a utopia with signs of a bright new era on the horizon.
âIâm really impressed with the architecture.â I comment, turning my gaze to Kuvira. To my surprise, she is already focusing her attention at me with a curious glint in her cool eyes. âItâs so much better than what I saw in Ba Sing Se. Not a single inch of poverty and dilapidation.â
She smiles. âIndeed. Thanks to Bataar, the architect, Zaofu is the most advanced city in the entire Earth Kingdom.â
The mention of the architect brings a flash of memory in my mind with the image of a middle-aged man and his younger accomplice passing by the dining room, with the former apologising to his wife and telling her he had a major breakthrough in the tram system.
Despite my issues with Suyin, I cannot deny that her husband is a genius. This architecture and technology should be shared with the rest of the kingdom!
âWell, he should be proud of what he has accomplished.â I finally respond. âAll of this is revolutionary! Why hasnât this been shared with the rest of the nation?â
My question appeared to trouble Kuvira slightly as I see her rip her gaze from me to stare through the tramâs window with a frown present.
Uh oh. Did I make her upset?
âUnfortunately,â Kuvira begins with a trace of bitterness. âthe sharing of Zaofuâs resources wouldnât be possible.â
The phrase of her answer makes me perk an eyebrow and lean forward slightly.
âHow come?â
The frown deepens on Kuviraâs face. âThe Earth Queen would never allow it. She despises changes or, at least, changes she didnât implement. She certainly wouldnât allow a rival of hers to improve her kingdom.â
Of course. Why am I not surprised?
A frustrated groan erupts from me, and I slump down to the tramâs seat. âTypical. The Earth Queen has a chance to improve the lives of her people and refuses it because it would hurt her pride and ego. I met her when we visited Ba Sing Se and what I saw was despicable. Her people were suffering and she herself was vile.â
I hear a hum of agreement from my companion.
Sighing heavily, I glance away. âSorry, I didnât mean to rant. Itâs just been troubling me for a while.â
âThereâs no need to apologise.â Kuvira assures me, finally looking back at me. âI had nothing to add. I agree with you completely. The Queen is a horrible woman who should never have been in charge of the Earth Kingdom.â
âExactly!â I exclaim, relieved with being understood. âI told Korra and Tenzin the same thing! You know what they said? They said there was nothing we could do other than advise! How is that right?â
All I get from Kuvira are two words.
âIt isnât.â
Before I can respond, the tram reaches its to a screeching halt. We have arrived.
Leaving the transport, the guard leads me through the city for around twenty minutes or so until finally we reach a small establishment. It has a square-like shape with the windows revealing the green interior of the building. I notice a counter with all types of food displayed with a male cashier behind it.
I glance up to see the sign on top of the store. âBadgerâs Borrow.â
âIs this a cafĂŠ?â I ask her.
âIt is.â Kuvira confirms. âI sometimes come here when Iâm not on duty or busy with my dancing. It is welcoming and peaceful.â
Humming in acknowledgement, I gesture to the store door. âWell then, shall we?â
My gesture brings a smirk out of her. âWe shall.â
The following minutes were nothing special. All it consisted was us waiting in line and ordering food to eat. Kuvira paid for both of us before I could even tell her I had no cash. She must have know beforehand. Clever.
Now, we sat on a table by the window eating our food. The time it took for us to explore Zaofu, travelling on the tram, and walking to the store was long enough for sunlight to shine down on the city.
âThe food is pretty good here.â I tell her, taking bites of the item I ordered. âI can see why you come here.â
âIndeed.â She agrees with a smile. âItâs relaxing.â
The softness in her voice as she compliments the burrow opens a door of revelation for me. When I first saw her, I thought she was all serious, tough, and no-funny business. Now, though, I realise thereâs more to her than meets the eye. Heh, in a way, she is a lot like Korra.
KorraâŚ
The image of Korraâs rage at my outburst to Suyin flashes to the forefront of my mind brings my mood down. Despite making up at the end of the night, arguing with my best friend always saddens me greatly.
Kuvira seems to have noticed the change in my mood. âYou seem troubled.â
I shake my head. âItâs nothing.â
Glancing upwards, I see curiosity and concern in her gaze. This time, however, Iâm going to do ask the questions.
âCan I ask you something?â
Her eyes widen in surprise of the sudden topic change but relents. âYou may.â
I lean forward to further engage in the situation. âYou barely know me and yet youâre showing me around the city and taking me to a coffee shop you go to. Why?â
The guardâs eyes widen slightly in surprise of my bluntness but proceed to narrow in thought. She doesnât respond for a while, as if she doesnât know the answer herself, and I take a drink to act as a distraction to fill in the silence.
âYou intrigued me.â Kuvira at lasts respond, though brief as it is.
Oh?
âIntrigued you?â I repeat.
She nods. âYour frustrations with Suyin, specifically.â
I frown. âYou said you agreed with me when I talked about Varrick.â
âAnd I still do.â Kuvria confirms. âEven more so after given it some thought. When Suyin announced Varrickâs contribution to Zaofu despite his history I was troubled.â
Interesting.
I take another sip from my cup, my eyes still locked with Kuviraâs, and place it back down. âDid you say anything to her?â
She shakes her head slightly. âI did not. It is not my place. Iâm the Captain of the Guard, not an adviser.â
âCaptain of the Guard?â I repeat with surprise. âAdviser or not, thatâs a pretty impressive rank to hold. You must be proud.â
She nods with pride. âI am. It is an honour to be given such a title.â
âSuyin must trust you pretty well.â
âI am her protĂŠgĂŠ.â Kuvira reveals to me, taking a sip of her own drink after the comment. âShe mentored me since I was a child.â
âInteresting.â I comment. âYour parents must be proud.â
As soon as that sentence leaves my lips, I know I made a mistake. Kuvira frowns sharply and gazes down at her cup. Her eyes have hint of bitterness andâŚshame.
âIâm sorry!â I speak up almost immediately after my previous comment. âI didnât mean to bring up any bad memories.â
âItâs fine.â The captain assures me sharply, though her tone betrays her. Itâs clear sheâs feeling uncomfortable now.
Despite the awkward silence that followed, I donât feel any of it. Instead, a great wave of sympathy washes over me and alsoâŚfamiliarity.
An idea comes to me.
Should I do this? I mean, sheâs a stranger. I havenât even told Korra and Mako yet! Or even Tenzin, Kyuni and the others!
A stranger who seems to be like-mind as I. One who seems to be familiar with family troubles. Maybe this might make her feel slightly better.
âIf it makes you feel any betterâŚâ I begin, trailing off slightly but then catch myself. âI have my own issues with my parents.â
At the mention of my situation, Kuvira immediately snaps her attention to me with her eyes widened. âYou do?â
I nod solemnly. âI was gifted airbending too like Opal. I was so excited. I was always so interested in the Air Nationâs culture and to have the chance to be a part of it wasâŚamazing. I remember feeling the rush as I went to call my parents. I told them and do you know what they said?â
Before Kuvira can even have the chance to respond, I chuckle sadly. âMy father accused me of abandoning my tribe! Then, he tells me if that if I join the Air Nation I will not be considered as their own! Can you believe that? After years of loving memories, they were willing to abandon me!â
A single tear rolls down my left cheek and I quickly swipe it away.
âSorry.â I tell her, gazing at my cup. âDidnât meant to dump all that emotional shit onto your plate.â
Then, to my surprise, I feel a hand land on top of mine with a slight squeeze.
I look back up and I see Kuvira avoiding my gaze and instead focus it on our hands.
âI wonât sugar coat it by telling you everything will be fine.â The captain tells me, her voice hoarse. âIt wonât be fine. It will never be. All I can tell you is following your own path. Donât let your idiotic parents stop you from fulfilling your passions.â
My heart stops from Kuviraâs speech. When it concludes, it resumes.
Her advice is similar to Asamiâs and yetâŚKuviraâs seems the mostâŚhelpful? I donât know how to explain it. Maybe it was her bluntness of it all. Maybe it was because she seems so familiar.
When she called my parents idiotic a brief spark of anger threatened to erupt but it quickly faded. After I gave it, some thought, she was right. I mean, after everything weâve been together my parents are willing to cast me aside for wanting their child to follow their dreams and do some good in the world? What kind of parents do you have to be to do that?
âMy parents abandoned me when I was a child.â Kuvira speaks up, her stature tense. âThey dropped me with Suyin with a mere sack of my stuff and left me. Father told me it was for my own good but, really, it was to make their own lives easier. They abandoned their own daughter. They abandoned me.â
The sympathy that I already had for her intensifies in power and I place my own hand on top of her, now squeezing her hand gently.
Kuvira was abandoned as a child, but she overcame it. She was cast aside by the people she trusted the most and yet she rose to such a high position: The Captain of the Guard of Zaofu. Itâs inspiring.
It has inspired me.
If Kuvira can overcome her past with her parents, then so can I. I can surpass this. I know I can.
âYour parents are fools.â I assure her. âFrom what Iâve seen, youâre so much better than them. Screw them.â
My own comfort brings a smile on Kuviraâs lips.
A smile forms on mine.
Then, in a tiny coffee shop with a stranger I barely know and yet feels so familiar, everything becomes clear. Everything.
âYou were born in the Southern Water Tribe, you grew up in the Southern Water Tribe, and had practiced Southern Water Tribe traditions. And now you are abandoning your culture for another!"
âYou are trying to abandon your tribe, and your mother and I will not tolerate such a betrayal.â
âThe next time we talk, you better tell us you are not joining the Air Nation. If not, donât contact or visit us ever again.â
The echoes of the past, once plagued my mind, are now only harmless afterthoughts.
I have made my decision.
I will join the Air Nation.

Hope you all enjoyed it!
Feedback is appreciated! :D

a/n: this one was an interesting one, i love the idea of the Kyoshi warriors still around !! i might do one with Iroh II i feel that one would be interesting to write but different prompt so it doesn't seems too repetitive! THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING, ENJOY :D
â Just give me true love and understanding for the rest of my days.
â â â ââ âThe Kyoshi warriors are there to help out people who need it.â the female's voice sounded distance. âYour granâgran Suki was the best warrior out there and I'm sure you will be a great leader to the new generation of warriors just like her.â
You hands played with your set of fans while sighing. Even after so many years, you still had your mother's comment rounding your mind every now and then.
She was the daughter of Sokka and Suki, born a waterbender, she was never forced to follow her mother's path nor her father's career, but after Suki's passing she decided to keep her legacy alive as much as she could before her own descendants could. Your mother always wanted to have children, but had the bad luck to have a hard time conceiving, so she decided that it would be best to adopt. She would have the child she always wanted and would give one a family.
She had always said how it was an instant connection when you two first met. Seeing a little you coloring on a book with such concentration and determination made her heart warm and after that it was history.
You didnât know by that time that you were an earthbender, but your green eyes had told on you to be from the Earth Kingdom, your mother said how âeven if you weren't blood familyâ she could see Suki on you, it was almost like she came back to live. And so you were taught the Kyoshi warriors culture, she made sure to let you know how if you didnât want to follow with it that would be okay, but you always said how you will continue the legacy. That was what you've been doing all this years.
You've been living in the Kyoshi island since reaching your teenage years and only after your training with them finished and finally named a warrior you were able to come and go from the island as you wish. In one of those trips, you met Wing.
The Kyoshi warriors were split and sent to recognition of the most important points of the Earth Kingdom first and your group was sent to Zaofu. When you arrived the matriarch received all of you with open arms and such a sweet aura that made you feel welcomed, Suyin said how excited she was to finally meet the Kyoshi warriors after hearing stories about them when she was younger and showed everyone around.
At your arrival to what it seemed to be a training area with big metal pieces, you could spot two boys, twins to be specific. While you were looking around that area and Suyin was explaining what it was, green eyes were set on you with a special brightness in them; Wing felt as if he was just struck by an arrow when he saw you giggle at a joke made by his mother.
â â â ââ âThink fast!â Wei screamed throwing the disk at him, he was too distracted and got hit with the object at the side of his face. With a loud groan he felt sat on the floor. âMy spirits, you are an idiot.â
â â â ââ âBoys!â the older woman exclaimed terrorize by the sudden accident.
Everyone was quick to get closer to them, you had tell that you'd check on the hurt twin since you knew about first-aid. âHey, are you okay? Can you hear me well?â you asked after crouching in front of him.
â â â ââ âI think the disk made him stupid.â the other twin said laughing when Wing took too long to answer clearly distracted by you, his mother hit him in the shoulder.
At first he was mumbling a little bit at your sight that made you frown. âPretty... I mean! Yeah, I can hear you!â Wei exploded in laughter and you could feel your face warmer.
â â â ââ âThat's great,â you made sure he was seeing well by asking him to tell you the amount of fingers you were holding. âCan you tell me what your full name is?â your hands touched the skin in his face looking for any wound open.
â â â ââ âWing... Wing Beifong.â he answered feeling tickles in each spot your fingers were touching. âWhat's yours?â you smiled and presented yourself, he made sure to burn your name in his brain.
â â â ââ âWhat day are we in, Wing?â he answered with the date, feeling his heart skip a beat at how his name sounded on your voice. âOkay, I'm sure you're fine, just don't take any naps right now for precaution.â
Suyin sighed and took her other twin's ear. âYou and I will talk about your way of playing.â you looked at the exchange with a smile and when you turned back to Wing, he was still staring at you with such curiosity.
And after that interaction, Wing was obsessed. He loved the way your touch felt on his skin, how sweet his name sounded on your voice, how your green eyes had this cute brightness on them that made them shine like they were a pair of the most beautiful emeralds, how your Kyoshi make-up looked so good on you and made your eyes the center of attention.
Wing looked for you in any chance he had, always bringing you gifts, taking you on small walks on the city, asking you on spontaneous dates which you gladly accepted to ever single one of them and after some time on the city, the warriors needed to visit a different one so Wing took the opportunity to ask you out formally a day before leaving.
A couple of years had gone by since that, sometimes you would visit the family on Zaofu or he would meet you at Republic City, the relationship was just great.
When the whole Kuvira situation took flight, you made sure to be by your boyfriend's side as much as you were allowed too and when it ended, you had an idea.
â â â ââ âYou want us to visit the Kyoshi island?â he asked carefully, making you nod with a little of slowness.
â â â ââ âI thought... Uhm, since this whole thing took a toll on everyone that... Maybe you can come to the island and have tiny vacations... Just if you want! I'm not pressuring you to anything! If you don't want that's okay.â you talked a little too fast for his liking, but he smiled with such calm before cupping your face in his palms.
â â â ââ âWe would love to, my love.â he answered giving you a tiny peck on the lips.
Another thing he loved from you was your personality. Even if when you were fighting people you looked intimidating, at any calm interaction with new people, you would almost make yourself smaller. He knew after your third date how you didnât like being in such places with large groups of people and he made sure to take you to places were you felt comfortable. When he introduced you to his family formally, he answered every single question for you and the way how he always was thinking of you and your well-being made you fell more in love with him... If that was even possible.
â â â ââ âWe are!?â an excited Opal asked at the dinner table, a big smile on her face.
â â â ââ âI asked for permission and was granted,â you nodded. âIt's a little vacation trip I want you to have to relax and also as a thank you for teaching me how to metalbend.â your voice got lower at the last part, a little bit withdrawn, your face started to feel warm.
Your boyfriend took your hand in his, smiling. âNonsense, darling, you were already a natural when you came here!â Suyin exclaimed. âWe just helped you activate your potential.â
Plans were made and not even a week later, the whole Beifong family was at the entrance of the Kyoshi island, looking around amazed by it. Even after all those years, the island was restricted to just the people on the village and the warriors, so almost no one in the modern age knew how it looked.
You had asked one of your teammates to do the tour for you and after that, a small welcome dinner was held.
â â â ââ âUh, sorryâ.â you tried to speak to get their attention, Wing made a gesture that he would handle it.
â â â ââ âFamily!â he exclaimed loud enough for them to stop talking, once in silence, he smiled. âThank you, you can go now.â the last part he said your way.
â â â ââ âHi, sorry, I would like to thank you all for accepting my invitation here.â your fingers were drumming slightly on your side after standing up. âIt really means a lot to me to have all of you here, I appreciate you for taking me in as one of your own and... I hope you enjoy the island.â a nervous smile took place on your face.
After that the whole family burst in cheerings clapping at you and smiling with such fond aura. Wing got closer to you after sitting down. âThat was sweet, honey, I love you.â he said, a soft kiss was exchanged between you two.
â â â ââ âUgh, that's disgusting! We're eating!â Wei exclaimed in a jokingly way, throwing pieces of bread at his brother.

Pairing(s): Korra X GN!Reader
Characters: Korra Reader, Kuvira
â ď¸ Warnings!: Spoilers for LOK
______________________________________________________________
â¨You met Korra first in Zaofu, where you and Kuvira were both taken in by Suyin Beifong.
â¨Instead of working as a member of the Metal Clans guard, you ended up being personal assistant to Suyin
â¨You don't posses the ability to bend metal, thus making it hard for you to integrate fully into the metal bending clan. This has also generated a slight rift between you and your sister, who is a master metal-bender.
â¨Korra and you took an immediate liking to each other, and bonded over your mutual enjoyment of pro-bending.
â¨You are pretty starstruck by her being a member of the Fire Ferrets formerly. She feels a little shy about it as she initially thought you were pretty physically attractive.
â¨However, as you two start to open up to each other more, and she expresses her anxieties about Zaheer, you really start to bond.
â¨She invites you to accompany her and Opal to the Air Temple, however, you still want to fulfil your obligations to Suyin in the Metal Clan.
â¨The next time you and Korra meet, it's when you go with Suyin and Kuvira (at your insistence) to help when she confronts Zaheer.
â¨After Korra's traumatic final battle, you visit her when she is recovering. You notice that she isn't the same woman you knew, but can't place what the issue is.
â¨When Kuvira starts to slowly get her claws into the Earth Kingdom, taking over land she shouldn't. You begin to doubt her motives and leave one night when things get to intense for you.
â¨While making your escape from your sister and going into hiding briefly as you make your way to Republic City, you run into Korra.
â¨She is at her lowest and at first tries to avoid you. However, you convince her to let you travel with her.
â¨You only start to get close romantically after her confrontation with Zaheer where she learns to let go. This allows her to also start to move forward with your relationship.
â¨You aren't officially dating, but only start making it official near the end of the events of book three.

Orphaning My Old Work???
Howdy everyone!
I'll keep this short, but I just wanted to hop on and let you all know that today I orphaned some of my old works on Ao3. I've been wanting to do so for over a year now and finally bit the bullet. Yes, this includes my most popular fic "Legend of Korra X Reader Oneshots" (for anyone whose request I didn't get to, I apologize. I bit off way way more than I could chew with that and have over thirty requests and a dozen half finished fics).
Why?
Well, when I started writing fanfiction for Ao3 I was 17/18 years old. I started publishing said fanfiction at 18/19/20 (19? I think?) and I am now in my mid-twenties so...I've changed. Lol. I've grown up.
When I first started writing I was immature and unexperienced with the world. I wrote for characters I never had attraction to myself (Ex. Adult! Toph, Suyin, Korra, Asami) because people asked me to, I saw those characters got hits, and I wanted to be liked online. It was hard because I didn't see them as romantic interests and I feel the writing suffered for that. Even 'I Bought A War Criminal' (another popular fic I wrote) I fell out of love with Kuvira while writing and it had a rushed ending due to that fact.
The X readers in particular had some smut chapters that explored kinks I don't have and truthfully had never even heard of until reading some other fanfictions. I won't get too personal, but, like many of us on here, I was exposed to way too much shit way too soon in my life so I found new edgy smut topics to keep me engaged. I've since dealt with some of that trauma and also experienced more IRL trauma around relationships and sexuality that make me read some stuff I wrote -- and stuff I READ while underage -- (ex. knife play, non-con, etc) and go woah hey who let me have Wattpad at 12 and what kind of effect did that shit have because--??? (I would like to say that being into certain kinks is not bad and I'm not trying to kink shame but to me I was desensitized due to exposure too young to NSFW material and due to some IRL trauma -- reading and writing that was my way to cope without actually working through any issues. An unhealthy way to cope. I didn't know healthy relationships because everyone in my life up to that point had abused me or hurt me in some way or another either intentionally or unintentionally so I figured Ao3 / Wattpad / Fanfic.net smut wasn't 'that bad'. Now, I deal with my trauma in healthier ways and realize it's just not what I'm into. A lot of it I wasn't even into when I wrote it. But I read it, so I wrote it. Even recently with Outlander I wrote wildshape smut not because I was into it but because all the other Jaheira fics had it and I figured hey it will get views. Because yes, smut gets views).
I'm just not proud of the writing quality. The first chapter of that X Reader Oneshots collection switches tenses like a million times. Who let me do that? Lol. I have a published book IRL that I'm taking down too because omg don't let 17 year olds self-publish XD
The point is, I never really wrote much of that stuff for me. I wrote it to get views. To get comments. To explore things I thought I was suppose to explore. Because no one in my real life was telling me I was good or capable. I wanted reassurance that I was writing the 'edgiest' stuff or the 'fluffiest' or the 'right characters' and the 'right stories'.
Going forward, I want to write for me. It's why I've moved fandoms because yes, I love Legend of Korra and Lin Beifong, but I'm not obsessed with it like I was. I found community in LOK and in AO3 and online in general but, after getting offline -- deleting social media -- reading things other than fanfiction -- basically, as I became less chronically online for the first time since Middle School, I realized that there's so much more out there that I enjoy. And much healthier ways to enjoy it.
I love all of the support you guys have given me and I stand by the amazing love and community I've gotten from all of my commenters and kudos-ers. But those fics just don't represent me anymore. Few of them ever represented me at all. Many were just what I thought would 'sell'.
I want to keep writing, so I will. But for the stories and characters I want to write about in ways that I actually enjoy. I want cute romances and metaphores for life. Writing smut feels like a chore most of the time so I'll probably just fade to black most of the time with a chapter or two exception. I still love fanficton -- it's an artform all its own. But yeah. Anyways, I hope my little ramble here makes sense and I hope you all get what I'm trying to say.
And if you are like past me -- having interacted with the internet and NSFW and smut since a young age and now feeling like every boundary isn't enough in fiction (*clears throat* I see you BookTok wth r those abusive ass relationships you're reading?) just know that maybe that kind of content isn't good for you and know that vanilla isn't lame. Know that you can write the stories and characters you want and that you don't have to write characters you don't want to write or situations that scare you. And you don't have to pretend not to be scared just for the sake of not kink-shaming.
Yeah. Anyway, if ya'll have any questions fell free to reach out to me! I hope you continue to like my work and if you don't, that's fine too. I hope you don't feel like I'm abandoning you. I think I'm just growing up and getting better mentally. <3

either way though she does tend to take the lead and try to guide you with gentle words and gentle hands

e.g. âthere we go, good girlâ, âjust like thatâ, âyouâre doing so wellâ, âyou look so beautiful like thisâ and so on
also big into body worship (giving and receiving) and can happily spend hours kissing and stimulating your body until youâre both too riled up to stop
she has a lot of experience under her belt, having had a bit of a promiscuous period during her time at the circus, meaning she knows exactly how to please a woman and sheâs more than happy to share this knowledge with you
she also loves going down on you and will gladly stay on her knees in service until youâre begging for a break
as far as receiving oral goes, sheâs also a big fan and will play with your hair and sing your praises when you eat her out â breathily moaning and whimpering all the while
sheâs extremely vocal but not loud â talking lewdly and gently throughout and offering plenty of low, breathy moans that go straight to your core
very big on decorative bondage and other things that add a certain aesthetic beauty to sex â such as intricate lingerie, use of flower petals and so on
decorative bondage involves metal chains and handcuffs, of course â things she can control and easily remove in case the safe word is called
scented oil massages are a common form of foreplay and a good way to get her worked up as she can stress herself out quite a lot throughout the day
some light spanking is also something she can enjoy
aftercare with suyin is incredibly thorough, involving: hot baths, scented candles, fresh fruits, cold water and lots of massages and compliments as conversations
calls you âsweetheartâ and âdarlingâ in bed
her favourite positions involve you two being able to be close and that allow you both to move without much restriction
she has a large collection of toys that sheâs more than happy to share: sucking toys, air pressure toys, vibrators, dildos, beads, and so on

No More (angst)
Young Suyin Beifong x fem reader
(Thank you to my lovely đ¸anon for requesting some angst!)
You and Su had been together for a while and you loved it but what you didnât love is how reckless sheâs becoming. You get she likes to steal with her friends and sometimes she brings you nice jewelry from those steals. You didnât mind her being a criminal because at first it wasnât that bad but now things just keep getting turned up. It was worrying you but she always told you not to worry. If she got in trouble sheâd only be arrested for a few hours till her mom let her out.
There was a knock at your door. You answered it to find your girlfriend Su. âI brought you something.â Su said then held out a pearl necklace. âOh Su itâs beautiful.â You gushed. âA beautiful necklace for a beautiful girl.â Su said. You let her in then she kissed you. You wrapped your arms around her and smiled. âI love you Su.â You said. Su kissed your forehead. She never really said I love you back but you knew she did. âLet me put the necklace on you.â Su said. You nodded and turned around.
You lifted up your hair then Su put the necklace around you. Once it was on you looked into the mirror. âWow.â You said. âItâs perfect for you.â Su said. âBreaking news! Local jewelry store has been robbed! Be on the lookout for criminals.â A voice from the radio said. You looked at Su who was laughing. âThat place was robbed thirty minutes ago jeez their slow.â Su laughed. You took the necklace off then held it out to her. âWhat? Do you not like it anymore?â Su asked.
âI donât want stolen jewelry anymore Su.â You said. âOh babe come on itâs not that serious.â Su said. âItâs serious to me.â You said. There was a knock at your door and Su stashed the necklace under your sofa cushions. You answered the door and there were Suâs robbing buddies. You rolled your eyes. They never liked you and you never liked them so at least the feelings were mutual. âOh your little friends are here.â You said dryly. Su walked over to you. âIâll be down in a second guys.â Su said.
Her friends left then she stepped out the door. âIâll see you later.â Su said. âWhatever.â You said. âBabe come on donât be like that.â Su said. You just shrugged. Su kissed your cheek. âIâll call you.â Su said. âBetter not be from a jail cell again Suyin.â You said. âNo promises.â Su said with a grin then left. You love Su but she stresses you out. You locked the door behind her then sat on the couch. You reached under the couch cushion and pulled out the pearl necklace.
âOh Suyin what am I going to do with you?â You asked out loud. You held the necklace in your hands and tried to figure out what to do. You love Suyin you do you just hate sheâs a thief. You love the jewelry but you shouldnât itâs wrong. She shouldnât be doing this. You tried not to cry. You couldnât keep being a girlfriend to a thief and she seems that she wasnât stopping anytime soon. Thereâs nothing you havenât said to try to get her to stop. Youâve cried and begged and pleaded but she didnât care.
Her not caring hurt but she would try to make up for all your tears with jewelry but this jewelry means nothing! Sheâs not actually apologizing her stopping she just shuts you up with shinny things! Like youâre some toddler and you let her! How could you let her? You started to cry. This relationship canât keep going on.
The next day Su came over and she looked frantic a bit. âSu are you ok?â You asked. âI think Iâm screwed.â Su said. âWhat do you mean?â You asked. âLin caught up with me and she tried to arrest me. She wrapped her cable around my wrist and I got angry and I cut it thenâ Su went silent. âThen what Su?â You asked. âWhen I cut itâŚit cut her cheek.â Su said. âThe cable cut her cheek!â You shouted. âDonât yell!â Su shouted back. âHow bad is it?â You asked. âItâs really bad. She was bleeding.â Su said. âSu.â You said.
âShe shouldnât have tried to stop me.â Su said. âSu she was doing her job!â You shouted. âAre you on her side or mine?â Su asked. âSu are you serious right now?â You asked. âYes I am! Are you on her side or mine!â Su shouted. âSu you hurt your sister! You made her bleed and have probably given her permanent damage!â You yelled. Su glared at you. âI canât believe this Su. Iâve been begging you to stop before things get too crazy and look what has happened.â You said.
âShut up!â Su shouted. âI begged and begged and you just didnât care. Now look what youâve done Su.â You said. âAll you do is cry and cry! Youâre such a cry baby! Shut up and donât act like youâre any better than me! You take the jewelry that I give you.â Su said. âI do take the jewelry and itâs wrong. I also never said I was any better than you. Iâm not any better what we do is wrong Su.â You said and you felt tears pooling in your eyes. âHere you go crying.â Su said and rolled her eyes.
There was a knock at the door and Su went to go open it. It was her mother Toph who didnât say a word but Suyin knew she had to leave. She left without saying goodbye. Too much has happened. You canât do this anymore.
The next day you went to visit Lin in the hospital you knew she was probably still getting her cut checked out. When you found her room she was sitting in her uniform and you could tell she was upset. âLin.â You said softly. She looked up at you. âYouâre Suâs girlfriend arenât you?â She asked. You nodded. âWhat do you want?â Lin snapped. You handed her your bag. She raised a brow but took it and opened it. It was full of some of the jewelry Su had stolen.
âWhere did you get all of this?â Lin asked. âSu. I think itâs time I give them back.â You said. âYou knew she stole these and kept them?â Lin asked. You nodded. âI could arrest you.â Lin said. âI know but Iâm hoping you wonât.â You said. Lin sighed. âI know you donât care but I am sorry for keeping the jewelry she would give me and Iâm so sorry about what happened to you.â You said. Lin didnât say anything. âIf you see Su could you please tell her to stop by my apartment later.â You said. Lin just nodded.
When you went home you sat down and wrote a letter for Su. After you wrote your letter you packed your bags then left for the fire nation. No more Su. No more taking stolen jewelry. No more being with someone who canât say I love you. No more being with someone who calls you a cry baby. No more mistreatment.
Su did come by and found your letter and to say she was heartbroken was an understatement she was being sent away and her girlfriend broke up with her. She kept that letter for years to come.

Icy Waters Vol. I
Chapter Eleven
The next few days passed in a blur.  Â
Kiko was happy to finally be out of the busy city, though she was desperately missing her kids. She often wonders how theyâre doing without her.  Â
Are they being looked after? Are they being fed? Are they keeping safe? The questions torment her frequently.  Â
There has been one thing thatâs keeping her mind off her worry, however, and that person just so happened to be sneaking into Kikoâs room late at night. Â
Lin cracks open the door to her room, poking her head in to confirm that it is the correct one, before she scurries in, a little comedically. Â
Kiko snickers at the way she is walking, âWhy are you walking like that?â  Â
The tired metalbender pouts, slightly grumpy at the teasing, âIâm trying to be quiet.â She sits on the bed next to Kiko, tucking her legs underneath her.  Â
The waterbender takes in what she is wearing; an oversized band t-shirt that looks suspiciously like Kikoâs; like the one she thought sheâd lost on the boat, and loose shorts. Despite the fact that sheâs clearly just wearing pyjamas, Kiko canât help but drag her eyes over her figure. Â
Kiko's lying lengthwise along the bed, reaching her hand over to rest on Linâs calf as she talks a little more seriously, âIâm only teasing.â  Â
âI know, donât worry.â Lin assures. Â
Kiko hums and continues, âDid anyone see you?â  Â
The metalbender shakes her head, âNo, I made sure Su was asleep in her room before I snuck out; she has a tendency to sneak into my room. Don't worry.â She places her hand over Kikoâs that was still resting on her leg. Â
It's not that they were ashamed of the relationshipâfar from it. Kiko would love nothing more than to be able to parade Lin around on her arm around Ember Island, as well as in Republic City.  Â
But, theyâve only just began the transition into a new relationship, itâs hardly the time for meddling family members. They both agreed to keep their development quiet for the time being, until theyâre ready to share.  Â
Kiko doesnât think thatâs going to last long, though.  Â
With Kya, Sokka and now Izumi on their trail, thereâs no way theyâre going to be able to keep it a secret for much longer. According to Lin, Suâs becoming suspicious, too. Toph, though, couldnât care less.  Â
There is another factor that makes Kiko hesitant to share this new relationship, however. Tenzin.  Â
He's what made her so damn hesitant in the first place. She canât help but feel bad at it. It's hardly her fault though, right? Lin clearly had no interest whatsoever in Tenzin. Â
Though, a little part of her deep down canât help but look forward to rubbing it in that smug airbender face. Â
Kiko's slightly spiteful thoughts are interrupted by Lin leaning over her, âYou still here?â She waves a hand in the waterbenderâs face, who catches her hand and intertwines their fingers. Â
She snorts and pulls Lin a little closer, âHow could I not be with such a beautiful woman by my side.â  Â
Lin rolls her eyes slightly, a cheeks flushing red. She doesnât say anything, just leaning down with her eyes locked on Kikoâs lips, who whispers against her, âShy?â She asks when the metalbender pauses. Â
She only shakes her head, before pressing her lips against Kikoâs, deepening the kiss almost immediately. The brunette tilts her head slightly, adjusting the angle all while wrapping an arm around Linâs slender waist.  Â
Kiko can feel her take in a sharp inhale of breath when she presses their chests flush together, and she revels in the noise, other hand releasing Linâs and moving to run through her silky black hair. Â
Lin, seemingly becoming a little braver, runs her tongue along the seam of Kikoâs lips and allows herself to explore Kikoâs mouth with fervour, eliciting a small groan from the waterbender who tightens her hand on her waist in response. Â
They kiss with passion and intensity, Lin clearly getting worked up as she pushes Kiko fully onto her back from where she had been slightly turned on her side, and leans over her, legs intertwined. Â
Kiko can feel one of Linâs hands run down her body from her waist to run her finger around the seam of her pyjama trousers, prompting the waterbender to take her hand from her partnerâs hair to hold that hand. She reluctantly pulls away, though their faces stay close together.  Â
Lin keeps her eyes close as Kiko admires her; a small string of saliva still connecting their kiss-bitten lips.  Â
âNot yet.â She whispers, watching as Linâs eyes open once again, revealing the emerald green eyes that Kiko has come to love. Â
She only nods, once again closing her eyes and resting their foreheads against one another. Kiko inhales deeply, rubbing her nose affectionately against Linâs, before pulling away and tucking her head under the black-haired girlâs chin. Â
âIs there any chance you can stay tonight?â She asks hopefully, knowing that she will likely decline due to their agreement of not letting anyone find out quite yet. Â
Lin hesitates, before tightening her arms around the waterbender and kissing the top of her head, âI just need to make sure I get up early to go back to my bedroom.â  Â
Kiko smiles against Linâs chest, nuzzling her face in further like a cat in an attempt to get more comfortable.  Â
They look like a tangled mess of limbs on the bed; entwined legs and arms tightly hugging each other.  Â
Kiko thinks sheâs in heaven Â
---Â Â
Despite the amazing time off on Ember Island, Kiko was glad to be home in Republic City, back working her two jobs and living on Air Temple Island. Â
It was her first day back at The Union when she saw her again; Asako, who was looking as elegant as ever working at the bar. Â
She always had an air of finesse around herâlong black hair always freshly washed and silky, similar to Linâs, though it was longer, and the red lipstick she always had painted on her cupidâs bow lips. Â
Kiko never really wore makeup; never really had access to it growing up, unless she had rummaged through her motherâs. Some of her favourite memories was of her mother attempting to help the young waterbender put on some makeup. She was squirmy as a kidânever wanting to stay in the same place for too long. Â
It was only occasionally that she wore makeup nowâfor when her and Lin go somewhere a little bit nicer, or if they were going to some sort of festival. Â
However, she did notice that Lin liked to wear a small bit of makeup every day; some neutral lipstick making them look extra soft and kissable, as well as her slightly infrequent use of mascara. Â
Kiko doesnât think she needs any makeup; as cliche as it sounds, she really does think that Lin is the most beautiful woman she has ever seen. Â
Asako notices her friend come out to the bar, pushing off the counter where she was talking to a customer before taking a once over of the waterbender. Â
âLooking good, Kiko.â She smirks, âThat got something to do with a certain metalbender, by any chance?â She asks, a cheeky smile spreading across her rosy cheeks. Â
Kiko rolls her eyes; Asako had been continuously asking if anything had happened between her and Lin. While she was disappointed to be let down time and time again with Kikoâs news of no progress, the waterbender is excited to let her know the new development. Â
She had already asked Lin, in anticipation for this, about whether she could disclose their relationship to Asako, considering their plan of keeping it low-profile for the time being. Â
âWouldnât you like to know?â Kiko smiles, giving her friend a quick side-hug before fiddling with her shirt cuffs. Â
âIs that a yes?!â She practically screams, catching the attention of a few patrons at the bar. Â
Kiko nods apologetically towards the old man that was currently rolling his eyes at them before nodding at Asako, âYes.â Before she can elaborate any more, she notices a few more customers approach the bar, âIâll tell you more later.â She whispers, placing a hand on her friendâs shoulder as she walks past. Â
âOh, girl. Youâre coming back to my place after this.â Â
Kiko only laughs, before approaching the new customer and take his order. She really was ecstatic to be able to share the news with her friend, despite knowing that Lin was a little hesitant at first, considering Asako and Kyaâs ârelationshipâ. Â
âYou want to tell Asako?â Lin questions, a little furrow between her eyebrows. Â
They were back on the boat by now, in the same arrangements as they had been when they were arriving on Ember Island; Kyaâs feet by Kikoâs head, with Linâs head on the waterbenderâs chest. Â
Kiko was running a hand soothingly through her hair, and Lin feels slightly like she is about to pass out in her arms. Â
âOnly if youâre alright with that. I know that weâre keeping this... development private for now.â Kiko really didnât know what to describe their relationship as â can she say that theyâre dating? They never agreed on any labels or arrangements. What if she only saw this as a holiday fling? Â
Before the brunetteâs mind can race anymore, Lin is able to put her mind at rest, âWe need to make sure she doesnât tell Kya.â Â
She always seems to know when Iâm stuck in my own mind. Kiko thinks affectionately, before kissing the top of her head, âShe wonât tell, donât worry.â Â
Lin only hums, tilting her head up and pressing a kiss against Kikoâs chin, before the waterbender tilts her head down to kiss her properly. Â
Kikoâs shift goes relatively quickly. Â
By the time she reads 22:45 p.m. on her watch, there were little to no customers left in the bar, a few stragglers the exception. Â
She has a rag in her hand, wiping down the counter with disinfectant spray as she hears the bell ring above the door, shouting out the mindless words she does every night, âWeâre closing soon, if you want a drink then final orders are in five minutes.â Â
Footsteps approach the bar in front of her, âLookie who it is. Beifongâs pretty little girlfriend. Tell me, are you still getting yourself into trouble?â He sneers with a disgusting smirk. Â
Kiko's head snaps up at the familiar voice. Lieutenant Keta. Â
She takes a brief and subtle look over her shoulder at the back door, where she knows Asako is right now. She can only pray to the spirits that sheâs going to come out soon. Â
The waterbender tries to ignore the disturbing feeling that rushes through herâthe spine-chilling shiver that crawls through her body. The way he looks at her makes her want to tear her skin off. Like sheâs a piece of meat. Â
âExcuse me sir, is there anything you want to order?â She pretends not to know him, though she knows that he sees right through her. That he sees the fear that he instils in her. Â
Kiko's dealt with monsters in her time, but this guy feels different. Â
âWould you tell Beifong if I said you?â He gives her a smarmy smile; one that makes the waterbender believe that her scepticism of him isnât completely unreasonable. Â
She doesnât know what to say, just gaping at the man in front of her, âI- thatâs highly inappropriate.â She stutters, completely unsure of what to say. Â
âDidnât know youâd be a prude with that body.â His eyes run down her figure in the form fitting black shirt sheâs currently wearing. Kiko wants to crawl out of her skin. Â
âSir, I-â Â
Luckily, another voice butts in before Kiko can get into an even bigger mess, âI think you should leave.â Asakoâs voice calls out from behind Kiko, her strong voice projecting from behind Kiko; a hint of warning in her tone. Â
âYouâve got to be kidding me, right?â The asshole has the nerve to look shocked. Â
âWe have the right to deny service to anyone, especially people harassing our staff.â Asako stands confident in front of him, having made her way closer to the bar. Â
âIâm a cop, you canât kick me out!â Keta shouts in outrage. Â
Asakoâs composure breaks a little, âI will kick out anyone that harasses our staff, now please collect your stuff and leave.â She nods her head towards his bag and badge that is lying, discarded, on the stool next to him. Â
He huffs and clenches his hands in an aggressive manner. Kiko isnât subdued by any means; she will fight if she needs to. She's been doing it her whole life. But something about this man makes her shrink back. Â
âYouâll regret this.â He points at the waterbender, before snatching up his things and leaving the bar. Â
Kiko lets out a shaky breath, leaning her back against the bar. They occasionally got aggressive customers, yes. But no one has quite shaken her like Lieutenant Keta. I have to tell Lin about this. Â
There were a few head turned by the disturbance, but luckily, a lot of the left over customers were either very drunk, or forgot about it very quickly. Â
Kiko feels a hand on her shoulder, turning her head to be reminded of her friend that was standing next to her. Â
âAre you okay? He was completely insane!â She points out, turning her head towards the door, as if checking to make sure that he is really gone. Â
The waterbender can only nod, âHe was.â Â
âHave you met him before?â Asako asks with a furrow between her perfectly sculpted brows. Â
âHe works with Lin. Ran into him once at the station.â Kiko shakes her head, eyes trained on her shoes and arms crossed, âHe said some weird things then, too.â Â
Asako looks taken aback, âWas Lin with you?â Â
âShe sure was.â Â
âAnd she didnât do anything?â Â
âOf course she did, âSako. I had to pull her away.â The waterbender meets her eyes. Â
The Fire Nation native can only nod and heave out a small sigh, looking a little relieved at Kikoâs assurance, âIâm gonna start closing up.â Â
---Â Â
Kiko needed this; sitting on her friendâs balcony smoking a joint of lillyweed. Â
The waterbender looks across the horizon from the top floor. Despite working in a bar earning merely minimum wage, Asako is rather well off. Kiko thinks that she is part of some wealthy noble family that comes from old money in the Fire Nationâsimilar to Lin. Â
Though, Lin lives in a rather humble apartment compared to Asakoâs penthouse. Â
Kiko takes a hit, tilting her head to rest on the back of the lounge chair as she blows the smoke out of her mouth, handing the joint back to her friend. Â
âYou need to tell me more. How did you two even end up on the beach?â Asako asks before taking a hit. Â
The brunette chuckles at the memory, âI had told Lin earlier in the day that we could leave the festival if she was feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, and thatâs what we ended up doing.â Â
âYes, and...â Asako prompts with the hand holding the joint. Â
âWhat do you mean âand?â? That's what happened.â Kiko playfully rolls her eyes and takes the blunt out of Asakoâs hand, enjoying that familiar floaty feeling roll though her body. Â
âWhat happened after that, dummy!?â Â
âWell, we sat on the beach and chatted for a while,â Kiko places a hand on her chin in a mocking thoughtful pose, âAnd then... letâs see... she was cold, so I gave her my cardigan.â Â
Asako nods, gesturing for her to continue, âWe were... lying very close, I guess. But then she said something that pissed me off a bit-â Â
â-What did she say?â The black-haired woman is on the edge of her seat. Â
The waterbenderâs smile fades a little at her words, âShe just mentioned how me and Kya are very close, and she asked if I was leading her on. Which is a completely reasonable thing to be a bit pissed about, by the way.â She hands the joint back to Asako. Â
âEither way, I ended up kissing her.â Â
The Fire Nation native lets out a little squeal, âHow was it?!â Her excited voice cuts through the replay of the moment that Kiko had been replaying in her mind. Â
She smiles dreamily, âOnly everything I couldâve dreamed of, Asako. Sheâs like no one Iâve ever met before. She makes me feel.â Â
âWhat did she do after.â Â
Kiko shrugs a little, âWe were both a little caught up in our own world, but eventually I snapped out of it, suggested we go swimming. Did I mention she was wearing one of the sexiest bikinis Iâve ever seen?â Â
Asako shakes her head and scoffs a little, âLook at you, all lovesick.â She teases. Â
âI really like her.â Â
âI can tell.â Asako nods, her tone expressing that she is genuinely happy for Kiko. However, her face soon turns a little more stern, âAre you going to tell her about what happened today? With Lieutenant Keta?â Â
Kiko shrugs again, âI donât know. She has a lot on her plate at the moment; sheâs trying to get her promotion to detective, apparently the triads are all kicking off, and now weâve added a somewhat hidden relationship to her plate.â Â
âIt would be worth it to tell her. Don't want her finding out from other people.â Â
âI guess youâre right.â Â
---Â Â
Lin was reading over some reports when she heard him; Ketaâs smug voice filling the bullpen. Â
âSaw that waterbender chick again last night. The one that works at the Union.â He shakes his head, âHad a right stick up her ass. For a broke girl, she really is picky about customers.â Â
Lin's head raises at his words, surely heâs not talking about Kiko. Â
âShe was lookinâ all scared, like a puppy.â Lin bristles at his words, his description of the woman she knows is Kiko, âHad her sexy friend come over to kick me out.â He lets out a booming laugh and all colour drains from Linâs face at his next words, âYâknow, if they werenât such tightasses, I wouldâve had some fun with them.â Â
The metalbender clenches her fists in raw anger, restraining herself from going over there and slamming his face into his messy desk. Maybe if he did some more work instead of gossiping, then the triads wouldnât be so many steps ahead of us. Â
Maybe if he did some more work, then I would be home and inviting Kiko over right now. Â
Lin canât help but shake her head at the thought. His words made her angry, yes, beyond belief. But they also made her sad. Why hasnât she told me? The black-haired woman tries to listen to her reasonable thoughtsâthat theyâve both just been busy and they havenât even seen each other since the morning before that shift. Â
But the other side of her brain is taunting; she doesnât trust you. Â
Lin knows that itâs wrong. Their relationship so far has been built on a strong foundation of trust, one thatâs developed over the time of their friendship. So why would things have changed in a day? She berates her taunting thoughts. Â
She takes a peek at the clock, noticing that it reads just gone 8 p.m. The only reason she was staying this late is because sheâs been trying to find a lead on the triads, trying to find a mistake. It's not her case, she knows this. Â
But the guy who has been assigned to it is currently mouthing off to his uninterested âfriendsâ. At least his friends donât like him either. Â
Lin decides that she is going to focus for another half an hour, before she makes her way back home and contact Air Temple Island. Â
She manages to get back to her apartment by half-past eight. Luckily, she doesnât live far from the station. Â
The metalbender doesnât bother bending off her uniform when she gets home; focused on calling Kiko and ensuring that sheâs alright. She dials the number for the womenâs dormitories and is relieved when she recognises Kikoâs voice immediately. Â
"Hello?"Â Â
"Kiko?" She asks, just to make sure that it really is her. Â
"Lin?"Â Â
"Yeah, it's me. Are you alright?"Â Â
Kikoâs concerned voice projects through the tinny phone, "I'm fine... Is something wrong?" Â
"I just overheard Keta talking about a waterbender who worked at the Union. Did he come in last night?"Â Â
Kiko sighs frustratedly, and Lin can practically picture her running her hand though her hair, "He did pay a visit last night, though I think he took it more of an opportunity to antagonise me." Â
"Are you okay?" Lin's voice is filled with concern Â
"I'm fine, just a little shaken up. I get a really bad feeling about that guy."Â Â
Lin nods, though she knows that Kiko canât see her, closing her eyes in frustration, âI know, me too.â She huffs out a small, frustrated laugh, âYâknow, today, he wasnât even focusing on the triad case, he was gossiping about you to his friends.â Â
The metalbender can hear Kiko let out a sigh over the phone, âI had a feeling that might happen. Iâm sure that heâs going to be bitter about that for a while.â Â
Lin can only hum, thinking during the small moment of silence before asking again to reassure herself, âAre you sure youâre alright?â Her voice is almost timid for asking again, but she needs to ensure that her partner is uninjured and mentally sound. Â
She can hear Kikoâs small, amused laugh over the phone, âYou really do worry a lot, you know that?â Â
âKiko-â Â
âIâm fine, Lin. Donât worry about me.â When Lin still doesnât talk, she carries on, âIâll come and visit tomorrow, and you can see for yourself.â Â
Lin nods to herself, before agreeing, âBe careful.â Â
âAlways.â Â

Summary - fem reader gets sick while the team avatar is in zaofu
You do not have permission to repost, translate or copy my work
âĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄâĄ
I was exhausted, the team and I were heading to zaofu so we could throw a suprise birthday party for Lin.
We were all loaded onto the air ship. It was noisey and cramped, and all I wanted to do was go home. Well, I didn't have a home, but I just wanted to lay down and die.
If you couldn't guess, I didn't feel well, which is weird as I never get sick, I think the last time I got sick was when.... well, I can't remember.
You may be thinking,'Why don't you sleep' or 'stay home' you see I can't.
I was the one who had the idea of the suprise party in the first place, a lot of people needed convincing but I begged and pleaded, lin needed the break so I couldn't just not attend.
I radiod a-head to suyin to help set it up so it would be ready when we arrive, right now lin thinks we're on some diplomatic meeting, it was funny seeing Bolin try to lie we had to keep pulling him away so he wouldn't spill the secret.
I snap back into reality, seeing everybody get up to head off the air ship. I startle when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
I look up my eyes blurry and head thumping, "Kid?" I blink, trying to clear my eyes."Hmm? Oh, lin, " I say, finally able to see.
I see her furrow her brows and immediately stand up, I regret it immediately as my vision turns fuzzy, my head feels warm, and my ears ring. I wobble a little as lin tries to steady me. A few seconds later, everything clears up.
"Maybe you should sit down," asami says from the spot beside the door. It looks like everyone had stopped what they were doing. I let out a wet crunchy cough into my elbow, waving away the concern I waltz off the airship, nearly flying down the ramp.
Everyone exchanges looks but shrugs it off. Except for lin, she keeps an eye on me until we get to the group of people off the loading bay.
I'm not sure what happens next, but the next thing I know, I'm pulled into a hug. I relax almost immediately, smelling the familiar smell of metal and Jasmin. I sigh, snuggling into suyin.
"Hello dear." She smiles amused, and she looks to lin for an explanation. Normally, I'm not this touchy and do anything to avoid hugs or any kind of physical contact.
"She's sick." Bolin chimes in, I grunble."No I'm not" it came out muffled as I was still clinging to suyin.
I thought of suyin as a mother figure, I've never had a mother nor a father and she's the closest ove ever had, similarly lin was like an aunt, that's why I wanted to treat her, show her how much I appreciate her.
Suyin chuckles, her chest vibrating as she scratches the back of my head with her hand. "Hmmm," I smile doppily, "is she now?" From my peripheral vision, I see the gang moving inside. I blink, snapping out of it, clearing my throat. I let go of suyin. No matter how much I feel ill or how much I want to crawl back into her embrace, I planned this suprise, so by spirits, I'm going to witness it.
Suyin let's me go watching in concern as I stumbled to catch up to the rest of the group, we made it inside where the party was , we all sung happy birthday to lin who looked like she would rather be anywhere else.
The day progressed, and I kept getting worse, I was warm but cold, my nose kept running hut was blocked, my head was thumping which wasn't helped by the music, I was dizzy and felt nauseous not to mention the wheeze cough.
It was getting late, it was around 11 pm. we arrived around 6 pm. I hadn't interacted much with the group, which was normal, I was introverted, and although I loved my friends, they understood I needed space sometimes, which is why nobody noticed how unwell I was.
I crept out of the party, stumbling to a spare room unaware of the eyes on me.
Lin was about to follow me, but suyin interviewed, "I'll take care of her, enjoy the party." she spoke loudly to be heard over the music, "Are you sure?" Suyin chuckled she never thought she'd see the day. lin was worried over a 16 year old. "Yes, it's your party, go!" Lin was shood away.
I panted, finally finding an unlocked bedroom. I sighed, trying to take my clothes off, but I felt too weak and only succeeded in getting my pants half off, I felt like crying as I flopped on the bed coughing and wheezing as I went. I whine feeling uncomfterble when I felt a hand on my back.
I gasp startled, but it only led me to cough furiously into my elbow. "Shh, it's alright dear it's just me," I relaxed, turning onto my back to see her. "OH hun you do not look well at all." She sighed, placing her hand on my forehead she gasped "oh your very hot. " I smiled smugly "thankyou I know. " it turns out I had a high fever, making me feel delirious.
Saying rolled her eyes, leaving the room. "Hey!" I whisper, wanting her to come back, tears filled my eyes as I start to cry, a mixture of feeling miserable and feeling abandoned.
What felt like hours to me but most likely minutes in reality she returns with a cold towel, some medicine and tea. Immediately she spots the tears, setting everything down on the desk she rushed over, pulling me into a hug and brushing the tears away.
"I'm just so mean, huh?" She was clearly amused, but I didn't catch it, "yeah, " I sniffle.
"Well, how about some medicine and sleep?" She offers, "you stay?" I ask hesitantly, looking up at her. She nods softly. "Of course," I smile brightly before she finally notices my poor attempt at taking my clothes off. She chuckles. "Need help, sweetheart?"
I give my consent and she wastes no time stripping me, she runs over to a drawer pulling out some of her clothes. It's only then do I notice it's her room I stumbled into.
She dresses me in light shorts and a T-shirt that smells like her.
She gives me the medicine and tea, and it helps unblock my nose. Once everything was eaten and consumed and the damp towl turned into a sweaty damp towl. She helped me lay down, turning the lights off, "goodnight dear I'll be close by if you need anything" She opens the door about to leave.
I whine, struggling to stand up. Once I do, I walk over to her and cling. "OH, you're just a clingy baby, huh?" She was milking this. She was a touchy person, and I wasn't so to have me clinging to her was rather nice. "Uhhuh," I mumbled into her chest. She picked me up, not surprising me as I knew she was strong. She walks over to the bed where she sits down me, straddling her with my head in her chest.
She starts to hum her chest vibrating as she cards her hand into my hair. I relax tearing up slightly, I've never had this much affection from someone before it made me realize how much I love suyin, and how I viewed her as my mother. So I decide to tell her that as my fever makes it so I have no filter, how convenient.
"I love you," I whisper. She stops for a second hand stilling in my hair. She takes a shuddering breath, "I love you to my darling girl." I cling to her tighter, holding back tears, "you're like my mom" I tensed waiting for her reply.
"You're like my daughter too, and I'm so proud of you." she hugs me tighter. I feel a tear land on my hair, but don't mention it.
She starts humming again, gently swaying side to side. "Good night, my daughter." I smile so bright my cheeks hurt, "good night, mom.".
Although I was miserable for another couple of days after, I was happy, I got the family and home I've always wanted, and I got loads of snuggling. Turns out I don't hate physical contact, I'm just touc starved. Who would have, though?
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. I didn't have a plan for this lol I went with the flow.

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 26
OLD FACE. NEW IDENTITY.
Y/NâS POV
Kuvira and finally arrived back at the edge of Zaofu where the Beifong Household is located. After our emotional talk about our parents of all things we hung out for bit more while before we headed back. Apparently, the guardâs shift was about to start soon.
When we finally reach back to where we began, it was past afternoon. I donât see any of my friends anywhere. They must be around here somewhere.
âHere we are.â Kuvira states.
âHere we are.â I echo back.
I glance back at the guard with a smile who smiles back.
âThis was nice.â I tell her. âI had a good time.â
She nods. âAs did I. Hopefully, we could meet again before your departure.â
I hum in agreement. âSo do I.â
Then, before I can even react, a press of warm lips land on my cheek and I am engulfed in flames.
âGood day, Y/N.â Kuvira tells me with a smirk, finding my flushed state amusing, and walks away with her hands behind her back in a business-like stature.
Even when sheâs walking away, my cheeks still feel like they are on fire. I place a hand on the cheek that she had kissed.
Well thenâŚ
Shaking out of my flustered state, I start walking around the city and trying to find anyone there. Itâs time I stopped avoiding them.
It took a few minutes, but I finally found them.
And what I see
âWhat in the spirits is going on here?!â
I see Lin lying unconscious on the floor with Korra holding her head. Boulders spread out across the land like confetti, metal panels bent out of shape to form barriers, and I even see one of those weird metal structures crashed against the wall.
Thatâs not the only thing I see. I notice Opal on a bridge with Suyin and Bolin on the right end and most of the Beifong family on the left.
âY/N!â Bolin exclaims with urgency. âNot trying to be rude but, uh, you kinda showed up at the wrong time.â
âClearly.â I agree, walking closer to Korra and Lin. I kneel down next time and examine the Chief of Republic City Policeâs health to see her condition. She looks awful. Not only is she slightly wounded from the fight, but she looks as pale and white as the snow land of the South Pole.
Opal rush towards us too, her posture clearly expressing her nearly overwhelming worry. âIs she okay?!â
âSheâs pale.â I comment. âAnd slightly injured butâŚsheâll be all right. What happened?â
âI just learnt how to metalbend and Bolin was about to start but Lin showed up out of nowhere.â Korra explains, nervous and confusion mixed into one. âShe and Su started to argue and then Lin attacked and all of a sudden they started fighting!â
Putting the revelation that Korra can now metalbend aside, I continue focusing on the chief. Sounds like the tension between the two siblings finally reached its dangerous breaking point.
âThat doesnât matter right now.â Suyin tells us, who has now walked towards us. Her tone expresses regret and shame. âWe need to take Lin to her room and give her some medical attention.â
âAgreed.â I tell her. âLetâs carry her.â
With the strength of Korra, Bolin, Suyin, and I, we manage to bring her to her guest room. When we place her onto the bed, Aiwei enters the room with clear distress. âI heard what happened. Is she all right?â
âIâm not sure.â Suyin tells him.
The trusted advisor lets out a very tense sigh. He marches towards Lin and examines her. âThis is my fault. I suggested to her to visit an acupuncturist to help deal with her supressed feelings. She must have not allowed herself to rest once the process was done.â
The worries from the matriarch and the truth seer arenât mutual to mine.
âThe Chief has been through worse.â I assure them but looking at Suyin specifically with sympathy. âSheâll live.â
âY/N is right.â Korra agrees, facing them too. âLin has dealt Equalists and mecha tanks. If she can survive that, she can survive this.â
The words of our reassurances seem to have worked as the tense and frightened looks of Suyin, Aiwei, and Opal smooth out and diminish slightly.
âThatâs good to hear.â Aiwei responds. âRight now, I think she just needs some rest. We should leave her be.â
Yeah, thatâs probably the best idea.
As we all reluctantly leave and then proceed to go our separate ways, I hear my name being called out.
âY/N. May I have a word?â
I turn and see the matriarch. Her expression is unreadable.
With my fists tightly clenched and my body tensed, I slowly but surely walk towards her.
âYes?â
âThank you for helping to bring my sister here.â She tells me with her tone containing gratitude. âYou didnât have to after our last meeting.â
OhâŚ
âLin needed help.â I reply. âI wasnât going to refuse to help her because of some argument.â
She nods in understanding. âOf course. Youâre as noble as Korra.â
âNo chance.â I tell her in an attempt to appear humble. I hesitate slightly and bite my lip. Then, finally, I continue speaking. âLook, I am not going to apologise for what I said last night. I stand by my words. ButâŚI will apologise for how I said it in front of your family. That was uncalled for.â
My apology seems to have startled the matriarch as her eyes widen in surprise. Then, a moment later, the surprise is gone. âThank you. Apology accepted.â
And, with an exchange of nods, we depart.
I meet up with Korra, Bolin, and now Mako and Asami who seemed to have been caught up on what happened.
âThe talk with Su gone all right?â Korra asks me when I finally approach them.
âSurprisingly, yeah.â I reply. âI apologised for how I acted to her. We seem to be on mostly good terms now.â
âThatâs a relief.â Asami says. âThat means you wonât be skipping breakfast tomorrow?â
I rub the back of my head with a sheepish grin. âIâll be there.â
âWhat were you doing anyway?â
âI had a prior engagement.â
Korra cocks an eyebrow. âPrior engagement?â
I shake my head gently. âMet a guard of Zaofu when I stormed out. We hung out and decided to hang out today. She seemed pretty cool.â
âPretty cool, huh?â Bolin asks with a smirk.
The memory of Kuviraâs kiss on my cheeks resurfaces and I feel my cheeks heat up slightly. Regardless, I roll my eyes.
âNot like that.â I tell him. âWhat about you guys, though?â
âLike I said before, Suyin gave me some metalbending lessons!â Korra informs me with excitement. âI am now the worldâs first metalbending avatar!â
My eyes widen. Not even Aang learned metalbending? Interesting.
âThatâs awesome, Korra!â I tell her. I turn to our earthbending friend. âWhat about you, Bolin? Did Suyin teach you too?â
My words seem to have struck the wrong chord, though, as nervousness washes over him. âUh, no. No. Not yet. She was about to but, uh, Lin interrupted.â
âOh.â I respond, not really knowing what to say. âWell, Iâm sure she will give you some lessons later.â
âYeah, yeah.â Bolin responds, the nervousness still present. âOf course.â
Hm. Odd.
I open my mouth to speakâŚand then close it.
Now with the urgency of Linâs condition now gone, the memory of my conversation I had with Kuvira and my final decision now returns more louder than ever.
Itâs time.
âThereâs something I need to tell you, guys.â I announce, my voice calm and steady. âWell, specifically, I need to tell you something Korra and Mako.â
âWhy us two?â Mako asks, eyebrow raised in curiosity.
I gaze downwards to the ground, and I rub my arm up and down. âAsami and Bolin already know.â
âKnow what?â Korra presses.
I take a deep breath and slowly let it out. Despite making my decision, I still feel my heart beating as fast as an Air Scooter.
âBack on Air Temple IslandâŚâ I begin softly, shifting my gaze to my friends now. âI phoned up my parents to tell them I got airbending and was planning on join the Air NationâŚâ
âWhat did they say?â the firebender asks.
I sigh yet again. âThey told me if I join the Air NationâŚthey will disown me.â
Makoâs jaw drops in shock. Bolin and Asami stare at me with sympathy and care. And KorraâŚ
âTheyâŚthey couldnâtâŚâ
I get it. I really, really do. Korra has known my parents for years. Iâve lost count of how many times she came to my house and played together while my parents watched on. They treated her almost like she was their own daughter.
âI thought the same.â I bitterly mutter. âBut they did. They were being dead serious. They told me I was trying to abandon the Southern Water Tribe.â
âWhat?!â Korra exclaims, concern now being replaced with anger. âHow could they do this?!â
âThatâs not it.â I continue. I turn to face her directly and I see the fiery rage in her normally cool eyes. âThey even brought you into it by wanting me to ask you take my bending away.â
âWHAT?!â Korra barks out. âThatâs it! Let me call them and Iâll- â
â-Korra, no.â I interrupt her, placing both of my hands on her shoulders. I squeeze them gently. âItâs okay, I-â
â-Itâs not okay!â she tells me. âTheyâre your parents and theyâre willing to abandon you! Thatâs awful! How are you fine with all of this?â
âIâm not.â I bluntly tell her. âWhen the call ended, Bolin saw me as an emotional wreck. It has been bothering me since weâve left Air Temple Island. I didnât want everyone else knowing yet. I only told Asami about it because sheâs had similar experiences with family trouble.â
âWhy didnât you tell me and Korra?â Mako questions. His tone doesnât come across as judging or hurting or anything of the sort. Just curiosity.
I sigh. âYou guys were so excited and focused on finding new airbenders and IâŚI didnât want to be a downer.â
Before I can even react, Korraâs two strong arms pull me into a tight hug with her face buried in my shoulder.
âYou will NEVER be a downer.â She assures me. âIâm sorry youâve been feeling this. I knew something was off, but I had no idea it was this bad. Iâm so sorry.â
The beating of my heart that was running as fast as a Satomobile slows down to a gentle pace and a comfortable warmth fills my form. I hug her back just as tightly and smile. âItâs okay. I get it andâŚIâve made my decision.â
âAnd?â Asami asks.
Korra pulls back to look at me. I gaze at all of my friends, and I take a deep breath. âIâm going to join the Air Nation.â
âBut your parents-â
â-Screw them.â I interrupt my best friend, looking back at her. âIâm not going to let them bully me into not living my life. I want to rebuild the Air Nation and be part of its culture. If they donât want to be part of my life when I do that, so be it. It will hurt, really hurt, butâŚI have accepted it.â
As soon as I finish my monologue, two big, strong arms wrap around my waist and lift me upwards. I know the all too familiar hug.
âWeâre so proud of you!â Bolin exclaims, voice overly emotional.
Mako and Asami walk closer to Korra, Bolin and, I, smiles full of pride on their features.
âGood on you, Y/N.â Mako compliments.
âIâm glad youâve made your decision.â Asami adds on.
Korra is the last one who speaks up. âWeâre always going to be here for you. I will always be here for you.â
SpiritsâŚ
I feel droplets beginning to form from the kind and heart-warming reassurances.
âI know.â I finally tell them, voice watery. âI have you, guys.â
âYeah!â Bolin agrees, now excited. âYou have Team Avatar!â
Classic Bolin.
I giggle at his excitement. âYeah, I have Team Avatar.â
Weâre like that for a moment or two, basking in the warmth that is our friendship. It feels like all the problems in the world are nothing but a minor inconvenience now.
Everything will be all right.
TIME SKIP
Darkness clouds my vision as I rouse from slumber.
Great. Another restless night.
Some time passed since I told my friends of my situation with my parents. Lin managed to fully recover and even patched things up with Suyin and her niece. Opal even convinced Suyin to let her go to the Northern Air Temple to learn and train with the rest of the airbenders. We just saw her depart a few hours ago.
At least, I think it was a few hours ago. I donât know how long I slept. Ugh.
After a few minutes, my vision adjusts to the dark room and I can see everything more clearly. For now, though, I am not interested. I continue staring at the ceiling, lying flat on my back.
The thoughts of my parents stills fill my mind.
I have made my decision to join the Air Nation. Now I just need to tell them.
Tomorrow...
Yeah, tomorrow. I might as well get it over with.
After one phone call, my old life will be over.
Despite the hurt that will come, the wonder and joy of living the life of an Air Nomad will be worth it. I know it.
Maybe, just maybe, if I allow myself to think of it and if Iâm really, really luckyâŚthat new life will have Korra as my girlfri-
âTHEYâVE GOT KORRA!â
WHAT?!
Scrambling out of my room and my own room, I see Mako and Bolin already sprinting out of theirs. I follow them soon afterwards, and I see four of the strangest people I have ever seen.
A tall and powerful woman with a jet black ponytail and a tattooed third eye. A combustion bender?!
A long-haired woman withâŚwatertendrils as arms?! WHAT?!
A scruffy-looking bearded man with a dangerous build and stance, carrying an unconscious Korra over his shoulder. That bastard!
And a bald man in robes. WaitâŚhe looks familiar somehowâŚ
I donât have much time to ponder on this, however, as the four individuals unleashed a tsusnami of attacks with boulders, flames, water whips, and gusts of wind.
Wait-
Gusts of wind?! An airbender?!
ZaheerâŚ
That airbender must be Zaheer. Lin said he got airbending now.
But stillâŚwhy do I feel like I know him?!
Again, I donât have time to analyse that question but thankfully Bolin creates an earth barrier to block the initial attack of the boulders which buys us just enough time to dodge the other incoming attacks and take cover behind one of the metal pillars.
âSound the alarm!â I yell out to any guards in the area. âZaheer and his friends are here!â
My yell worked as not even a second afterwards an ear-piercing screech that was the alarm fills my ears and blinding headlights appear into view and start shining towards the four individuals.
My relief is short lived, however, as mere seconds later an explosion appears out of absolutely nowhere with a force of ten mecha tanks which fling the three of us backwards! I roughly land on my back and pain fills my entire form!
Asami rushes to us with panic and worry written clear on her face.
âWe canât let them take her.â Mako groggily tell us, trying to recover from the impact of the explosion.
âI donât think theyâre going to get far.â Asami reassures us. She points towards them with urgency. âLook!â
I turn to the direction Asami pointed at and I see it.
Together with the effort of Lin, Wei, Wong, Kuvira, and the rest of the guards they are able to trap the four fugitives in a metal prison of their own making.
âWe have you surrounded. Itâs over.â Kuvira declares, her tone not revealing any trace of fear or nervousness. âRelease the Avatar!â
I rush up to them to examine the scene. Okay, okay. Good. They canât escape now! Thereâs no way they can-
-Suddenly, the grass around begins to be filled with molten rock, then filled with a hot pool of lava!
WHAT?! HOW?!
The metal panels that trapped the four fugitives succumb to the overwhelming heat of the lava and one by one they fall apart, revealing them in battle stances.
âNo way! That guy is lavabending!â Bolin exclaims with complete shock. âThatâs awesomeâŚly not good for us.â
Lavabending?! Thatâs a thing?!
âSave your admiration for later, Bolin.â I snap at him.
Then I see the bald man use his wooden staff attempt to create some sort of cover for him and his friends with his airbending. One of the guards notices this and exploits the temporary vulnerability by shooting out a metal cable that wraps around his arms like a snake and with considerable strength, flings him away off the platform!
That manâŚwhy is he so damn familiar? I have to know!
I run. I run despite the yells and screams of my friends. I run to where the man lands as he fights two of the guards. Much to my surprise, he seems to be taking them on effortlessly with some sort of mixture of martial arts and airbending. Who in the spirits is this guy?!
He blasts the two a good distance away and before he can press his attack, I launch my own with a powerful gust of wind! He is sent back but quickly recovers with a retaliatory swing of his staff that creates a tunnel of wind in my direction. I dodge with a roll, raise my fist and-
Freeze.
So does the man, his eyes now so wide they look like they could pop open.
That faceâŚ
I know that faceâŚ
I know those olive green eyes and those sharp eyebrows. I know that slightly cut left eyebrow which has been disconnected from one section of the eyebrow to the other.
âYorru?!â I exclaim, my stance faltering into shakiness.
The flash of recognition in his eyes confirms my suspicions. âY/N?!â
It is Yorru!
Yorru is the man who tried to kidnap Korra?!
Yorru is Zaheer?!
âWhat are you doing?!â One of the two guards yells wh are now running back. They launch their metal cables at Yor-Zaheer, but he dodges them with a quick backflip. When he lands he launches yet another air strike which hits them again. This time, however, it knocks them out cold.
And I? I just stand there during all of this, still frozen in shock of the truth.
When the guards get knocked back, though, I snap out of it.
I rush forward to Zaheer and deliver a low air swipe kick in an attempt to knock him to the ground. I know he would most likely dodge it and when he does just now I use my low position from my previous attack to roll away from his counter-attack and then flip into the air, spin as fast as I can, and launch a powerful air kick!
Only for him to dodge it!
WHAT?!
Now left vulnerable midair, Zaheer launches an upward air kick in retaliation which knocks be back to the top of one of the pillars, hitting me straight in the spine.
âAGH!â
I land with a loud THUD! I try so hard to get up but the pain on my back is too much.
However, instead of seeing him towering above me, I glance up and I see Zaheer looking back at the platform with his face full of panic.
Panic?!
I look to the source of his fear, and I see it.
Lin Beifong, Korra in her arms, holding a metal cable that is elevating her to the top of the dome, away from the other fugitives.
YES!
My relief quickly vanishes because Zaheer turns his staff into an air glider and begins advancing towards the two in the air!
NO!
Luckily, Lin dodges Zaheerâs attack and before he can launch another one Suyin appears in a metal cable of her own and sends dozens of daggers into his direction, ruining one of the wings of the glider and causing him to land back onto the glider!
Before, I can celebrate the victory, however, the entire area is filled with black smoke that clouds my eyes! When my vision recovers, they are gone!
HOW?!
Despite the frustration, though, we had a victory. We saved Korra.
KORRA!
Ignoring the excruciating torment, I am feeling, I slowly rise to my feet. Almost immediately after I get up my back engulfs into a fiery torture of suffering. âAH!â
âY/N!â Asami yells, rushing forward to me. âAre you okay?â
âIâm fine!â I snap, trying to advance forward. However, as soon as I take a step, I begin tumbling back onto the floor. Luckily, Asami catches me just in time.
âYouâre not fine!â She retorts angrily. âYouâre badly hurt!â
âI donât care!â I bark back. âI need to see Korra! Is she okay?!â
âLin and Suyin have her.â She replies. âWe need to give you some medical attention.â
DAMMIT!
TIME SKIP
We are in Suyinâs office. I am sat with Mako, Bolin, and Asami on one sofa while on the sofa opposite, Korra lies still while Aiwei takes care of her. When I saw her, my heart broke again. I havenât seen her this bad since she broke down sobbing in front of Tenzin and I during the Equalist Crisis. No, scratch that. This is worse.
âThis should neutralise the shirashu toxins.â Aiwei informs Korra, handing her some sort of drink. It seems to have worked slightly, as I see her slightly moving her fingers. It ainât much but itâs a start.
âHow could you let this happen?!â Lin yells at Suyin, frustration clearly present. âYou assured me this was one of the most secure places in the world.â
âIt is.â Suyin counters. âI donât know how this happened. Obviously, this was a well-planned operation, so donât blame me.â
WHAT?! How fucking dare she!
âTake some fucking responsibility!â I loudly tell her, my rage allowing me to ignore the pain of my back. âItâs clear you have a rat within Zaofu! A rat who is very influential and knows the city inside and out like your guards! Your arrogance nearly costed Korraâs life!â
The short-lived peace we established has fallen apart as Suyin glares daggers at me. âYou have no right to lecture me, Y/N! We will question them all! Whoever betrayed my city will suffer the consequences!â
I let out a sarcastic laugh. âOh, so when outsiders make âsome mistakesâ you give them second chances but when someone within Zaofu makes one then they will get punished? Fucking rich!â
âEnough, Y/N!â Lin barks out, silencing me in an instant. The anger, while still present, is mixed with shame and guilt.
Dammit. I told Korra I would tolerate Suyin and I already failedâŚ
âEveryone!â
We all turn to the voice and I see Kuvira, standing tall and proud. âWe searched the entire estate. Thereâs no sign of them.â
DAMMIT!
âWell, keep looking!â Lin orders at the captain.
Now that the silence has filled the room, despite the intensity due to the argument between Suyin and I, my mind returns to Zaheer.
I need to tell them.
âI met Zaheer before.â I announce.
âWHAT?!â everyone shouts, absolutely shocked. Even Korra, in her paralysed state, appears shocked with her widened eyes.
âWhen?!â Lin demands. âWhen did this happen?!â
âIt was just before Harmonic Convergence.â I explain, trying my hardest to recollect. âKorra, Jinora, and I meditated into the Spirit World to close the Northern and Southern Portals, but we got separated. A spirit told me to go to Wan Shi Tongâs Spirit Library for some answers. When I got lost, Zaheer approached me. He said his name was Yorru and he guided me to the library and justâŚdisappeared.â
âDid he say anything to you?!â Lin demands, quickly processing my story and like a true Chief of Police seeks out any other relevant information. âAnything at all?â
I pinch the bridge of my nose as I concentrate to find the memories.
âI simply spend my time in this realm because it makes me feel more free than ever. Freedom is essential to one's happiness."
âI haven't been free in a long time. "What ifs" and what could have beens have been plaguing my mind for years. I'm homeless, you see? I am worthless to the eyes of corrupt leaders of the nations. But here? Here, I feel more alive than ever."
âI did. Three of them, actually. They were my best friends. One of them...she...she was the love of my life. But they're gone now."
"I, too, find the culture fascinating. I admire it. Their views on life and how the world works are truly inspiring."
âHeâŚhe talked about freedom, corrupt nation leaders, having three now gone best friends with one of them being the love of his life, and his fascination with the Air Nomads.â I slowly tell them as I begin to remember the words. âI assume the three friends he was talking about was the other fugitives present. However, he also claimed he was homeless. For all I know some of it could be bullshit.â
âItâs the best weâve got.â The Chief tells me. âThatâs more information weâve had about him than when we interrogated him.â
âWhy didnât you tell us before?â Mako questions.
I frown. âI didnât think it was important. How was I supposed to know he was a criminal? That doesnât matter now, what matters is that we need to find out let them in and why.â
âAnd we will do just that!â Suyin exclaims. âWe wonât stop until the traitor is found!â
She marches off, anger still burning within her. I frown yet again. The absolute hypocrisy of that woman drives me fucking insane!
I glance back at Korra who is still lying flat on her back and paralysed. Iâve never seen her so helpless before in my life.
My fists clench at the sight.
Zaheer will suffer for this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's it!
Did you know Yorru was Zaheer? He used that name when he infiltrated Air Temple Island in "Rebirth"
Hope you all enjoyed it!
Feedback is appreciated!
See you all in the next chapter!
