Yandere! Suyin Beifong Headcanons
Tumblr media
You weren't fond of Su when you both were younger
You thought she was spoiled and got away with everything
When Su got involved with the Terra Triad, she told you, thinking it was cool and impressive
It was quite the opposite. You told her they were terrorist and you couldn't believe she would join such a group
She was frustrated that you didn't understand
The group fills her mind with nonsense and fuels her yandere tendencies
When her mother sends her away, she is furious. She won't be able to see you, but you don't want to see her
You don't see each other until you're both young adults
She had changed and she reached out to you to come visit the city of Zaofu
You were hoping for the best, so you agreed to come
Little did you know it was a trap
You ended up getting hurt pretty badly and she offered you to stay
Though, you never get better. She keeps you sick by putting stuff in your food
Anytime you start getting better, you're hit by an even worse sickness
You practically become entirely dependent on Su
You feel bad, but she doesn't mind. In fact, she loves taking care of you
You do end up developing a sort of Stockholm Syndrome and when you do, Su slowly stops poisoning you
And when you're finally better again, your relationship with Su begins to develop and bloom

Sugar mama Lin Beifong x sugar baby reader
Summery: things get a little spicy between you and Lin and not in the good way (REMEMBER I SAID YALL CANT JUMP ME! YALL CANT BE MAD AT ME)
I woke up to the sound of a door closing. I slowly sat up and Lin wasn’t in the room, I got out of bed and went into the living room and still no Lin. I peeked out the window and saw Lin getting into her car. I pouted then I turned to the kitchen. There was a plate of breakfast waiting for me with some coffee. “She’s so in love with me.” I said to myself then took a sip of my coffee. When I finished eating I cleaned up the kitchen then did some laundry and tried to figure out what to make Lin for lunch.
As the days went by with Lin being stuck in the office she made sure to come home in the morning to take a shower and make breakfast for me. It was sweet but I want her to lay with me! I was laying in bed when the phone rang and I answered it. “Hello.” I said. “She ripped it.” Asami said. “What?” I asked. “I wore the matching outfit we bought last night and Korra ripped it. You need to put yours on.” Asami said. “Y’all nasty.” I teased. “You and Lin fucked in my closet.” Asami said. “That is true.” I said.
“Exactly so you better put that outfit on and then that pencil skirt outfit and go up there and do what you need to do.” Asami said. “You’re right.” I said. “Also are you and Lin coming with the rest of us to Zaofu?” Asami asked. “Why are we going to Zaofu?” I asked. “Because Lin’s sister has invited us to visit.” Asami said. “Her what?” I asked. “Her sister Su…has she not told you about her?” Asami asked. “No! I had no clue she had a sister.” I said. “Well they are still learning to get along so I’m kinda not surprised but I don’t know as her girlfriend I thought she’d mention her to you.” Asami said.
“She’s been busy a lot lately so I’m not surprised that she hasn’t brought it up.” I said. “Well I say get to packing so you guys can come.” Asami said. “Oh we’ll be there, trust me.” I said. “Good, I’ll talk to you later. I love you.” Asami said. “I love you too.” I said and hung up. I sighed then decided to start packing. I packed the new pink lingerie in my bag and a bunch of clothes and other things. When I finished I decided to make Lin’s lunch. When that was done I dressed up then made my way to her office. I didn’t put on the lingerie outfit because I’m mad at Lin.
She’s not getting any from me. I saw Mako and Bolin. “Hello boys.” I said. “Hey!” Bolin exclaimed and gave me a hug. I hugged him back then hugged Mako. “Chief isn’t in her office, she’s in another meeting.” Mako said. “That’s fine I’ll just wait in her office also you guys are coming to Zaofu right?” I asked. “Yeah of course.” Bolin said. “Are you guys going? I know chief has been a little dodgy about answering if you guys are going or not.” Mako said. “We’re going.” I said. Mako and Bolin nodded. I went up to Lin’s office and I sat in her chair.
The more I sat there the more irritated I got. How could she not tell me? Why wouldn’t she tell me? I’m her girlfriend, she's supposed to tell me these things! How the fuck do you not say hey babe I have a sister! Like makes no fucking sense. The door opened and I looked up. “What’s wrong with you?” Lin asked. “So you have a sister.” I said. “Who told you?” Lin asked as she closed the door behind her. “Asami called me asking if we’re going to Zaofu with everyone else because your sister invited us.” I said.
“We aren’t going.” Lin said. “Oh yes we are, I already told Asami, Bolin and Mako we are going and I’ve already packed.” I said. “Well unpack because we aren’t going.” Lin said. “Yes we are.” I said. “No.” Lin said sternly. “I’ll go without you then.” I said and folded my arms. “You wouldn’t dare.” Lin said. “Try me.” I said. “Why are you being so difficult?” Lin asked as she walked over to the desk. “Why don’t you wanna go? Why didn’t you tell me about your sister?” I asked. “Because it’s none of your business.” Lin snapped. “I’m your girlfriend Lin.” I said. “No you are not. Remember your place.” Lin snapped.
“Ok.” I said. I got up and left the room. She wants me to remember my place. I can do that but me remembering my place means her remembering hers. When I got back to the apartment I didn’t even bother to clean up and I ordered food for myself. When dinner time came around I didn’t bother to cook for Lin at all.
The next morning I woke up to the smell of food. I got out of bed and went into the kitchen. I saw Lin at the stove. “So you didn’t wash dishes last night?” Lin asked. I didn’t bother to respond and I made myself some coffee. “Am I talking to myself?” Lin asked. I turned to look at her and just took a sip of my coffee. “Really?” Lin asked. I shrugged. “You are being such a brat right now.” Lin replied. That’s the point Linny. I’m back in my place. “Do you think this is funny?” Lin asked. “No I don't, Linny.” I said. “You clearly do.” Lin said. I shook my head.
When lunch time came around I made her lunch and just dropped off the food. I didn’t bother to sit and be with her. The same with dinner. Just drop offs and go. I've been doing this till it was time to go to Zaofu. I made sure I had everything in my bags that morning. “Are you really going?” Lin asked. I nodded my head. “You’re on your own for lunch and dinner. Good luck. Hopefully when I come back your attitude has changed.” I said and made my way out the door. I’m being petty I know but I don’t care! She started it!
When we made it to Zaofu I got introduced to everyone. “I’m surprised my sister got a girlfriend as sweet as you.” Su said. I just laughed. “Speaking of aunty Lin, where is she?” Opal asked. “Paperwork is keeping her way too busy.” I said. “When will she ever take a break?” Su sighed. “Who knows.” I said. I was shown around and of course I went shopping on Lin’s card. She’s gonna spank the hell out of me but I don’t care! I sat with Su outside and we just talked. “You know I didn’t think my sister would fall in love again.” Su said. “What do you mean?” I asked.
“Last time she was in love was with Tenzin and that was years ago.” Su said. “Damn.” I said. “I don’t know if she dated other people after him really but she seems to like you if she sent you to meet me and I’ve heard Korra talk about the two of you. You two seem so sweet. I wish she was here so I could see you two together.” Su said. “She’s dated some other people before me. I believe she made it seem like it was all just casual.” I said. “Well she’s taking you seriously so just try to be patient with her. I know she can be a handful.” Su said and we laughed.
The next morning I woke up to knocking at my door. I got out of bed and opened the door. There stood a pissed off Lin. “Oh hello.” I said. “You really made me come all the way here to get you.” Lin huffed. “Oh no no I didn’t make you come here.” I told her as I moved aside to let her in. “I’m not in the mood for you brat.” Lin said. “Then why are you here?” I asked. “To bring you home.” Lin said. “Why?” I asked. “Because you don’t need to be here.” Lin said. “Why? Your sister seems nice and your niece Opal was asking about you.” I said.
“You know nothing about my sister.” Lin snapped. “Then tell me.” I snapped back. “It’s none of your business.” Lin said. “Lin, just explain please. I just want to understand.” I said. “You just don’t need to be here!” Lin yelled. “Don’t raise your voice at me Lin Beifong.” I said. “I wouldn’t be raising my voice if you just listened!” Lin shouted. “I’m trying to listen but you just keep yelling and saying a whole lot of nothing baby.” I said and sat on the bed. “Pack your things we’re leaving.” Lin said. “You can’t make me leave.” I said.
“If you don’t come with me this is over.” Lin said. “Ok, I don’t need your money. I’m more than capable of taking care of myself. In all honesty the reason I’m still here with you is because I genuinely love spending time with you. I love our time together that’s why I’m here but if you don’t care about that then ok. I’ll pack up and leave if that’s what you want.” I said. Lin huffed. “Tell me what you want, Lin.” I said. “I want us to go home. Please let’s just go home.” Lin said. “Please tell me why I just want to understand.” I said.
“Why do you have to know? Why can’t we just go home?” Lin asked. I grabbed Lin’s hand and pulled her to me. “Talk to me. I want this to work Lin and this won’t work if you don’t talk.” I said. She sat down and I straddled her. “Lin, please just let me in.” I begged. Lin sighed. I cupped her face but then quickly removed my hand from her scar cheek. Lin grabbed my hand and put it back. Lin took a deep breath and started to tell me about her relationship with her sister.

the beifong sisters vs no nut november hcs ; 18+
Tumblr media

fandom(s) ; the legend of korra
fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; lin beifong, suyin beifong
warning(s) ; sexually explicit content, lin and suyin (separately) failing the ‘no nut november’ challenge
minors and ageless blogs will be blocked
lin beifong
has technically ‘won’ more than her fair share of nnns in the past, partially because of how busy her work keeps her (i.e. she barely has the time to breathe some days, let alone attend to her own needs) and partially because before you she just hadn’t been in a relationship for a while, but now that she’s actually in a devoted (and active) relationship with you she doesn’t really see any point in participating — why would she want to actively avoid getting off when she could instead spend her evenings buried between your thighs making you see stars, or riding your face to destress after a long day?
so, needless to say, it will take a lot to convince her to participate — and she will only participate if you do too
but once she does finally agree, lin actually ends up finding the whole nnn thing to not be all that challenging and if she was left to her own devices she could very easily make it through the whole month without finishing once — even if there are plenty of days throughout november that could have been made much much easier with a glass of wine, a hot bath, and an orgasm in the evening to make her less tempted to punch the lights out of some of the people she deals with on a daily basis…
that being said, she’s still not entirely invested in the challenge and can be convinced to give up and fuck you dumb with her fingers/tongue/strap if you beg her really nicely or tease her enough that she decides to fuck the manners back into you — with the former being much easier and the latter being much more fun, especially if you happen to be of a brattier disposition (and enjoy seeing a rougher more authoritarian side to your girlfriend)
so, yeah, she’ll reluctantly participate in nnn if you ask her to do so with you and she’s more than capable of succeeding, but isn’t all that invested in it and will be more than happy to fold if asked or goaded into doing so
suyin beifong
found out about nnn years ago and will participate in the challenge every few years whenever she remembers it, but she’s never actually managed to succeed — typically failing around the first or second week, and once just barely managing to make it to the late twenties of the month before crumbling just shy of the finish line — though she’s still more than happy to give it another go with you if you ask
finds the first few days to be relatively easy, even going so far as to start teasing you here and there just for a bit of fun — optimistic as ever that she’s going to win this time while also making no attempt to hide her need for you as she brazenly flirts and teases you throughout the day
by the end of the first week, and going into the second, she starts to become much more reactive to your own flirting, and becomes even more physically affectionate than usual — at this point she’s still giving as good as she gets as far as the whole teasing thing goes, but it’s plainly obvious that it’s impacting her a whole lot more than usual from the way that she rubs her thighs together when you’re talking, or the way she can’t seem to tear her eyes away from your body when you’re exercising or practising your bending
around the middle of week two she starts floating the idea of giving up on the challenge, still not quite at the point where she’s failed on her own but very obviously starting to resent the whole ‘no cumming’ thing as the days go by
and if you don’t give in and break with her then by the end of day thirteen she will have lost to one of her toys and, shortly thereafter, she will make it her mission to make you fail too — all in good fun, of course
she’s extra flirty, extra touchy, struts about your shared bedroom in the most flattering lingerie you’ve ever seen in your life, encourages you to join her in the bath every time she bathes, and just generally makes it difficult for you to go about your normal life without dousing yourself in icy water every few hours — and, playful as ever, she teases the hell out of you whenever she notices you getting aroused by her antics (which, depending on what you’re into, will either make the situation much better or much worse)
and when you finally, finally, give in and take her to bed she does everything she can to make it worth your while (or, in other words, ensuring you won’t be walking straight, thinking clearly, or feeling anywhere close to unsatisfied once you leave the bedroom) — all the whole joking about how you two can always try again next year since you have plenty of time to practice
in other words, while suyin is more than happy to participate and relatively optimistic about her chances of success, it’s very unlikely that she’ll get close to ‘winning’ nnn and she has much more fun when trying to get you to lose with her

Icy Waters Vol. I
Chapter Twelve
Lin’s hands shake as she approaches Kiko; her nervousness getting the better of her. Why am I so goddamn nervous!? We’ve practically been on what feels like hundreds of dates already.
The waterbender is currently sitting on a bench on Air Temple Island, having taken a break from the bustling dining room. Today marks yet another dinner with the whole family; the Beifongs, the Avatar’s family, along with Sokka and sometimes Suki. Kiko is of course still included in this.
Lin had managed to sneak away while Katara was removing the plates from the table. She knows that she only has ten minutes or so before dessert—sweet buns—are served.
The metalbender sits on the bench next to Kiko, her hands clutching onto the edge of the seat in a desperate attempt to suppress her nervous habits.
Kiko turns to face her, a small smile tugging at her lips, “Hey.”
“Hey.” Lin replies, ducking her face to hide her red-tinted cheeks.
“What brings you out here?” She asks.
Lin can only shrug, finally lifting her head to meet the waterbender’s eyes, “Just busy in there, I guess.”
“Finally had enough of Kya’s teasing?” Kiko snickers. The Avatar’s daughter had figured out not long after the night of the festival that something had shifted between the two; her teasing has only gotten worse since.
Lin snorts that cute little laugh that her lover adores, “Always. She's been doing it more since we got back.”
Kiko hums, “Do you think we should tell her?”
“Not just yet. I mean, we haven’t even been on a proper date yet.” Lin acknowledges, her anxiety spiking once again as Kiko makes a sound of agreement.
“I suppose you’re right.” She muses.
There is a small silence between the two of them, short, but noticeable, before Lin speaks up again, “Speaking of... is there any chance you would like to go out with me tomorrow?”
She notices the waterbender’s eyebrows raise comically, “Is that why your heart has been racing since you got out here?”
How did she know that? Lin makes a mental note to ask her later, and shrugs, “Yeah, I guess.”
Kiko lets out a huff of a laugh, nodding, “I would love to, Lin.” She moves her hand from her lap to rest on Lin’s thigh, making the metalbender lean into her touch more. “Where are you taking me?”
Lin hums, “I was thinking Kwong’s.”
“Kwong’s? That’s a bit expensive.” Kiko notes.
“Would you prefer to go somewhere else?” Lin asks softly, knowing how sensitive Kiko is about spending too much money, especially if it’s someone else’s money.
The brunette thinks for a moment, before perking up a bit, “What about a picnic?”
That could be fun, “How would you want to do it? We each bring a few different bits?”
Kiko’s smile widens, “I’m looking forward to it.” She teases, bumping her shoulder with Lin’s affectionately.
---
“So... are you going to tell me who this hot date is?” Kya teases, making eye contact with Kiko in the mirror.
The waterbender had finally built up the courage to have her cut her hair; it was long overdue. Her hair was an unruly mess, reaching below her ass in her braid.
Frankly, she hated having her hair cut.
It was a precious thing to her—something to be savoured. Her father always made sure to let her know.
“Your hair is sacred, my girl. Be careful with who you let touch it.” Kiko knows that it is more of a Fire Nation tradition to savour hair, but since her father spoke those words, her young and impressionable self took it to heart —despite their admittedly rocky relationship.
She supposes that it just continued into adulthood.
Admittedly, there was another reason; since that night she’s always been wary of people touching her hair. Purely from the muscle memory reaction to how she had been treated that night. It was a recurring nightmare, after all.
The young girl yelps as her father tightens his grip on her hair, “What do you have to say for yourself? Huh!? You’re a liability, I knew it from the start!”  He pulls her head up by her hair further, tugging tightly on her scalp.
“I’m sorry!”  She wails desperately, watching her father’s heavy hand approach her face at lightning speed, a sharp strike ringing out through the night.
Her eyes avoid her father’s locked onto the body in the centre of the living room, blood pooling out from beneath her mother.
“It’s your fault, Sehira. If it weren’t for you, she would still be here.”
The waterbender shakes her head in response to her friend, simultaneously trying to shake off the memory as Kya threads her fingers through her loosened braid, “Nope.”
“Boooring.” Kya drags out, removing the intricate bands from Kiko’s hair. She seems to have dropped the curiosity as she mutters, “How do you do this every week?”
The older waterbender places Kiko’s blue bands onto the bathroom counter as she takes a brush to her hair. Kiko shrugs, “I’ve always been doing it. It's just second nature to me at this point.”
Realising that her tone is a little dim, Kya continues, “Do you not want to go on this date or something? You seem really down.”
“You know I don’t like doing this, Kya.” Kiko rolls her eyes, trying to fight of the instinct of hyperventilating that comes with people touching her hair.
“It won’t be long.” The healer assures, “You only want two inches off, right?”
Kiko nods, “Yes please.”
Kya begins snipping away at Kiko’s hair gently, trying desperately not to tug too hard or do anything that would spook the waterbender in front of her. She would hate for that to happen.
The older waterbender is extremely grateful that her friend even trusts her enough to allow her to touch her hair. She doesn’t know about the sensitive history behind it, only that the feeling of someone touching it sends her into fight or flight.
The only thing she can really do is try to keep her as distracted and comfortable as she can.
“So, she’s hot then?” Kya attempts to return to the prior conversation, and luckily, Kiko lets her.
The sitting waterbender snickers a little, “Nosier than normal today, aren’t you?” The question is more of a statement, but still Kya jokingly shakes her head.
“I would never!” She takes a subtle break from the hair cutting to place her hand over her heart, as if she’d been wounded.
Kiko scoffs, “Yeah, right. How many times in the past weeks have you asked me about Lin?”
“Come on, it’s like a romance story is unfolding right in front of my eyes; you can’t blame me for wanting to know!” The waterbender pauses, “And now you’re going out on a date and you won't even tell me who it is!” She has a faux offended tone to lay the guilt on thick.
“No, I’m not going to tell you who it is because you’ll only get worse!” Kiko thinks that Kya definitely has a sneaking suspicion that she’s going out with Lin, going by the sly smirk plastered on her lips. Thankfully, she doesn’t mention it.
She and Lin have agreed not to tell anyone until they are both ready; and that might take a while.
Even so, Kiko can’t wait to be able to show off her girlfriend on her arm. She hopes that they will be more open about it before Lin gets her promotion so that she can be happily paraded around on her arm.
The thought of Lin in her work uniform; white shirt, the top button that she keeps unbuttoned showing off a sliver of her porcelain collarbone, and those wide leg trousers that show off her gorgeous hips. Kiko can’t help the smile tugging at her lips at the thought. Who would’ve thought? All I needed to do to prevent high levels of anxiety when getting my hair cut was think of Lin?
“What are you smiling at?” Kya interrupts the comfortable silence.
Kiko shakes her head, smile not leaving her lips, “It’s nothing.”
“Thinking of your date?” Kya asks, which only confirms to Kiko that she knows it’s Lin. She’s grateful that she doesn’t mention it.
Kiko only hums, tugging on the towel that she has around her shoulders, revelling in the feeling of the heavy weight of her hair being cut.
It takes around 30 minutes for Kya to completely finish with Kiko’s hair, sending her off for a shower to get rid of the excess hair that fell on her shoulders and around her body.
The younger waterbender thanked her best friend profusely for being so gentle with her, as she always is when cutting her hair.
She utilises the hour and a half before she’s meant to be at the docks on the mainland, where Lin is meant to be picking her up. She can only hope that Kya isn’t going to get any funny ideas and follow her on the boat.
Kiko walks out of her connected bathroom in only a towel, taking a deep breath of the clean air wafting in from her open window in an attempt to calm down a little. It works partly to calm her nerves; the deep breaths slowing her heart rate back to normal from after her hair cut.
She has to admit—it does look far better than it had before. It had been a bit unruly and untameable prior to Kya cutting it; flyaways coming out of her braid after five minutes and bangs covering her eyes.
The waterbender walks over to her closet to pick out something to wear—her next dilemma. I don’t know what to wear to dates! I haven’t gone on one since before I moved to Republic City, and that was with a man, so it hardly counts.
Despite her anxious inner monologue, she filters through the hanging shirts and the occasional dress in her wardrobe, which was, admittedly, a little messier than she’d like to admit.
Which is why she nearly completely missed the light green qipao hanging between two of her black work shirts. Where in the spirits did this come from?! She pulls it out from between the shirts and holds it up to her body.
It was a gorgeous dress; pear-green with a subtle floral pattern that looks to be embroidered with a slightly darker green shimmery thread. And it fit her perfectly.
What a coincidence.
Kiko huffs slightly, knowing that Kya was definitely the one to have left it in her room. She also now understands that Kya definitely knows about her and Lin. Great. Just great.
Even though she hates the idea of someone spending money on her, Kiko can’t help but admire the sight of herself with the dress, despite the fact that she is only holding it up to her body.
After a few moments of careful consideration, Kiko just rolls her eyes at herself.
Screw it.
She places the dress down carefully on the bed, ensuring that it doesn’t gain any wrinkles before untying her towel from her side and throwing it carelessly on the other side of the bed.
Lacey underwear? Why not. She digs through her underwear drawers to find a nice pair, just in case I get laid tonight.
After getting dressed, Kiko can’t help but admire herself in the mirror. Hair freshly done, even having decided to change it up a little for the occasion with two braids instead of one for once. I should do it like this more often.
She smooths her hand over a tiny wrinkle in her dress, wanting it to be perfect despite knowing that it will get wrinkled on the ferry to the mainland.
The waterbender shakes her head in spite of herself and lets out a small, calming breath.
“You can do this.” She whispers to no one in particular, just an attempt at reassuring herself.
Taking one last glance in the mirror, Kiko picks up her towel to put into the bathroom and exits her bedroom, new found confidence and excitement coursing through her.
She enters the kitchen, where a few members of the family are currently congregating to speak to Katara. However, the room quickly goes silent when she walks in.
“Is something wrong?” Kiko is hesitant to ask.
She notices Kya’s soft smile behind Tenzin, not a hint of teasing on her face, “Why are you all dressed up?” Tenzin asks, a slight sneer in his voice.
“I’ve got a date.” She answers simply, not letting Tenzin’s impoliteness get to her.
“ You’ve got a date?” He asks again, as if it’s a completely implausible idea.
Oh, was Kiko tempted to just outright tell him who her date was and rub it in his face. Yeah, you know the girl you’ve been in love with for just about your whole life? It’s her.
Instead, she only rolls her eyes, with a bit of a mocking smile tugging at her lips when Aang tells his son off, “Don’t be rude, Tenzin. Kiko looks wonderful.” The Avatar smiles at her, “We all hope you have a wonderful night tonight, my dear.”
“Our girl going on her first date!” Katara pretends to wipe a tear from her eye.
Kiko can’t help but blush at the insinuation that she is their daughter, instead deciding not commenting on it and just hugging the healer instead. She whispers a small thank you to her mother figure, before walking to the fridge and pulling out some of the things she had made for her and Lin’s picnic.
Thanks to their many dinner dates prior to even getting together, Kiko knows exactly what to make; one of her favourite Water Tribe dishes—fish cakes as well as a delicious Air Nation desert that Aang had taught her how to make—sweet red bean cake. No matter how many times she insists she doesn’t like sweet stuff, I can see right through her. She goes through the majority of the plate of these when she’s over for dinner.
Kiko chuckles under her breath at the thought and packs the dishes into a basket that Katara has lent her, along with some other bits and pieces like some classic vegetable dumplings (Katara wouldn’t let her cook meat on the island) and two egg custard tarts, considering they’re Lin’s favourite.
By now, the family had gone back to bickering indistinctly, allowing Kiko to sneak out of the temple easily. She takes in the peaceful atmosphere of the island; the sun still slightly peaking over the horizon and gently breeze.
However, her peace is soon broken by the footsteps of someone behind her. Before the waterbender can do anything to detain whoever is following her, her nerves are calmed by Kya’s voice.
“I really do hope you have a good time, y’know.” Kiko raises her eyebrow at her, clutching the basket she’s holding over her forearm, “I know that we have history, but I’m so happy you and Lin found each other.”
Kiko smiles softly, her hand reaching out to gently rest on her best friend’s shoulder, “Thank you, Kya.” They both stand in silence for a few moments, “And thank you for this.” She gestures to the perfectly fitting dress.
“Don’t mention it.”
Their eyes meet for a few moments, but it doesn’t imply anything further than platonic love.
I really do love Kya.
Kiko takes a deep breath, stepping back slightly from the older waterbender and smiling brightly, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Kya snickers, her usual teasing tone returning to her voice, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!” She shouts after the retreating waterbender.
“There’s not much you wouldn’t do!” Kiko shouts back, throwing her one last glance over her shoulder.
---
Kiko’s heart is pounding as the ferry approaches the docks; the shining lights of the bustling city almost blinding her in her bright-eyed admiration.
The boat jostles slightly, and if that didn’t indicate their arrival, then the boisterous shout of the captain from the stern would’ve.
The waterbender nods her head and thanks the captain as she departs, noting the fact that there was no one trying to travel to Air Temple Island. Makes sense, it’s getting late.
However, her focus was completely diverted as soon as she noticed Lin leaning against the passenger door on her Satomobile, waiting for her. She was wearing a silky green shirt that was suspiciously similar to the colour of Kiko’s dress that was tightly fitted to her strong body. Kiko's mouth almost waters at the sight of it straining over her biceps. Lin was also wearing dark brown trousers that were form fitted to her hips and thighs, before widening out below her knees and covering her black combat boots.
What makes the waterbender really swoon, though, was the change in hairstyle. Looks like we both decided to change out hair up a bit tonight. Instead of her usual pinned up short style, her hair is down and reaching the tops of her shoulders, in all of its curly glory.
Kiko quickly walks up to her, Lin’s head immediately perking up as she notices her lover approaching. They embrace happily, Kiko’s nose pressed into Lin’s freshly washed and silky hair happily.
Lin pulls back, taking a glance at her partner’s painted lips before realising they were in public, catching a few slightly disapproving looks from the few bystanders.
Kiko clears her throat, an air of slight awkwardness surrounding them, “So... where are you taking me?”
“You’ll just have to find out, won’t you?” Lin teases, taking the basket from Kiko’s arms and putting it on back seat next to a bag of, presumably, her own food, before getting in the driver’s side.
Kiko hauls herself into the passenger seat, watching the sea as they drive further from the docks, curiosity plaguing her as she notices Lin driving to the outskirts of the city.
Her eyebrows furrow in confusion, “Where in the spirits are we going?” She asks, no harshness in her tone.
Lin only lets out a chuckle under her breath and reaches over to take Kiko’s hand that had been resting in her lap, “We’re nearly there. Have patience.”
It takes about ten more minutes before they arrive at Lin’s intended destination; a familiar spot to Kiko. It is where she and Kya would hike out to with some lillyweed after a particularly stressful day at work.
The waterbender’s eyes widen when Lin stops the car at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the sea, the coastline of Republic City and even Air Temple Island. The sight causes a sudden rush of deja vu to rush over her, having not returned here since Lin arrested her and Kya.
The metalbender can only snicker lightly at her partner’s reaction; amusement taking over her as she releases Kiko’s hand and opens the door.
“Shocked?”
Kiko also decides to get out of the car, walking straight to the edge —at a safe distance, knowing that Lin would kill her if she got too close—and inhales the clean air.
While she loves Republic City, all she misses is the clean and natural air of the North Pole. You don’t get that in a big city; pollution becoming an increasing problem with the growth in popularity of cars—and airships if you were rich.
Lin approaches behind her, timidly placing a hand on the small of Kiko’s back, “Yeah, I am.” The metalbender responds calmly, Lin’s touch knocking her out of her thoughts.
She notices the checkered blanket in her hands, taking it and holding on to two of the corners and allowing Lin to take the other two to help lay it on the ground.
---
“No way that actually happened!” Lin exclaims, laughter breaking through her words as she tears a piece of her last sweet red bean cake to throw in her mouth.
“I’m telling you! We got to the main square—since we lived quite far from the village and he went head first into the river!” Kiko cackles loudly, “I was embarrassed for him. I mean, it was set up by our parents; two awkward fourteen year olds, one of which was a lesbian and the poor guy went and embarrassed himself further.” She shakes her head in amusement, admiring the bright smile that is tugging at Lin’s glossy lips.
She looks ethereal tonight (not that she ever doesn’t), with not only the clothes that Kiko wants to tear straight off, but also the subtle makeup that she applied. The waterbender knows that she wears makeup on a semi-daily basis, but tonight she had put on some dark mascara to emphasise her emerald green eyes and shiny lip gloss.
Kiko looks at her with loving eyes as Lin responds, “I bet that was hilarious! Embarrassing, but hilarious!”
“It was. I felt horrible for him though, I had to waterbend him out, since he couldn’t do it himself, poor guy.” Kiko really did feel horrible for him, but she can’t help but snicker at the fond memory. “We became friends after that; he knew that I wasn’t into men and he didn’t like the thought of dating someone after such an embarrassing incident. Let's just say I didn’t let him forget about it.” The waterbender trails off a little, stuck in her own memories.
The atmosphere between the two women has calmed slightly —their food having been finished off and the sides of their bodies having been moved flush together long ago. Their heads are leaning against each other’s comfortably, Lin’s hand fiddling gently with the back of Kiko’s dress.
The two sit in a comfortable silence for a few moments, before Lin speaks up reluctantly, “Do you ever miss it... your home?”
The waterbender takes a few moments to think; the heavy question laying heavy on her mind, “Some parts of it.” She pauses, “I miss the coldness, and my step-mother. I miss when my brothers were happy.”
“Do you speak to them anymore?” Lin asks, a bit more confidence with her questions after Kiko answered the first one.
“I haven’t seen them since just before I moved. One of them disappeared; I have no idea where he went, and the other stayed in the North Pole.”
Lin only hums, pressing her lips into the side of Kiko’s shoulder for a moment, before resting her head back in the same position, “I don’t know what I’d do without Su.” Kiko makes a small noise, as if prompting her to continue, “She’s my little sister, and I love her, despite the fact that she annoys the hell out of me.”
Kiko snickers slightly, a smile once again on her painted lips, “I once had that with them. I was the oldest, and they annoyed me incessantly, but I still loved them... I still tried to look after them.” She laughs again, slightly louder than the previous, “Su is a sweet kid. She's energetic and loud, but she’s adorable.”
“Not so adorable when she hassles you constantly for food and steals your stuff.” Lin adds, slightly cynically, but her tone only makes Kiko laugh louder.
“You’ll miss it one day... when you’re both older and don’t see each other as often as you do now.” Kiko shakes her head, settling to look at her partner.
Lin turns her head, too, their eyes meeting in the intimate darkness. Kiko notices the slight blush that’s creeping up the metalbender’s cheeks at their closeness. She can guarantee that no matter how many years they will be together, she’ll never get over that cute redness that stains her cheeks in embarrassment.
Kiko only smiles at her, before lying back fully on the blanket, “You’re cute, Beifong.”
It's clear the metalbender wasn’t expecting that, if the confused hum was anything to go by.
She raises an eyebrow in confusion, so Kiko clarifies for her, “Whenever I get close to you, you get this cute blush.” She snickers, “How many times have you stuck your tongue down my throat by now?” The waterbender decides to tack on to tease her further, enjoying how she turns away in embarrassment.
“Shut up.” Lin hisses, no real malice in her voice.
“You’ve gotta get used to it, Beifong. You’re stuck with me.” Kiko tilts her head to admire the black-haired girl in front of her, Lin desperately trying to repress her giddy smile.
“You talk too much, you know that?
“Oh, come on. You love it really.” Kiko moves her arm from behind her head to touch the small of her back, fiddling with the silky fabric that is probably worth more than she earns in four months.
Lin can feel goosebumps erupt on her skin under the waterbender’s cold touch, her back arching slightly instinctively. As if to counteract her reflex, she lies down on the blanket next to her partner, curling her body into her side.
Kiko hums as she feels Lin bury her face into the side of her neck, the feeling sending a shiver down her spine.
“I do.” The metalbender says simply in response to Kiko’s gentle jesting.
The brunette doesn’t respond, only turning her head to press a kiss to Lin’s forehead, before turning her own body around to face her.
It's a somewhat familiar position by now; the two having slept like this for almost every night they could on Ember Island, as well as on the boat back to Republic City. Kiko misses it, however. Having moments to themselves to spend time together and just enjoy each other’s companies has become very few and far between since returning.
But that all disappears as Kiko looks at her; the woman who has supported her unconditionally thus far, despite their rocky meeting and Kiko’s less than conventional life prior to the one she has now.
Lin knocks her out of her thoughts quickly, her lips capturing Kiko’s. There's an underlying passion that hadn’t existed before, one of her hands coming up to cup the waterbender’s cheek and the other resting tightly on her hip.
She's never been this bold before, Kiko thinks with a hint of amusement, kissing her lover back with the same amount of passion and intimacy, leaning over her slightly and threading a hand through her soft black hair.
Lin lets out a little hum at the intensity, their tongues quickly meeting and fighting for dominance, of which the metalbender quickly sacrificed if not for the head-spinning way Kiko tugs on the roots of her hair. Her hips buck subtly, sending a wave of embarrassment over Lin, despite the fact that Kiko didn’t seem to acknowledge the movement.
They continue kissing, before Kiko detaches from Lin’s lips, a mixture of thick lip gloss and saliva connecting them. A small whine escapes Lin’s lips at the loss of contact, before Kiko dips her head down to press hot, wet kisses along her jugular, feeling the high-pressure blood pumping through.
The waterbender uses her grip on Lin’s hair to tug her head back slightly, baring her throat for her to be able to nip down her neck. Kiko appreciates the milky skin of her collarbone, something she always teases in her work uniform, by planting firm kisses along the protruding bone, before pulling away to bring her face back up to her partners’.
She connects their lips for a deep kiss, only lasting a moment before pulling away again, “Can I mark you?” Kiko whispers against Lin’s mouth.
Lin doesn’t quite know what to say; her brain foggy and cheeks burning. Before she can think of the consequences, she nods eagerly, raising a hand to the waterbender’s hair and pushing her further down gently.
Kiko has her hand braced by the side of Lin’s face, now, holding her weight up. The other hand, however, is inching up the metalbender’s waist at an achingly slow, teasing pace. Meanwhile, her back arches slightly at the feeling of Kiko’s teeth dragging against her neck, the feeling sending a shiver down her spine and causing heat to pool in her abdomen.
She can feel Kiko sucking a deep mark into her neck, knowing that it’s going to leave a nasty bruise there for at least three days. Lin’s back arches further into Kiko’s body at the feeling of her hand reaching the side of her breast, not properly touching, but the weight there sends a spike of arousal down her body.
Gently bringing her hand to the back of Kiko’s head, she pulls her away, “Wait...” She breathes out, attempting desperately to catch her breath.
The waterbender immediately detaches from her place on her neck, eyebrows furrowed in concern as she faces her partner, “Hmm?”
“We should head back to my place...” The metalbender sighs out.
Kiko's pupils dilate at that, nodding breathlessly before kneeling on the side of Lin’s body and outstretching a hand for her to take.
The couple make their way back to the car in almost complete silence, the only sound being their heavy breaths and once in the car, the quiet static radio. Lin keeps her hand on Kiko’s thigh when driving back to Lin’s apartment—squeezing gently at the soft flesh.
---
Lin’s grateful when they get home, even though the sexual tension that had built up between the two had calmed down to a comfortable atmosphere.
While Lin would’ve been happy to have sex with her partner that night, she doubts Kiko would have agreed—seeing as they had both agreed to take it slow. Why did I ever agree to this whole taking it slow thing?! Lin thinks frustratedly.
Despite her slight disappointment at the fact that she wasn’t getting railed tonight, Lin places both of the baskets in her small kitchen, while Kiko pours two glasses of the nice wine that she had brought for the both of them.
She’s standing at the counter, trying to get an equal amount of wine in each glass, before startling slightly when Lin approaches her from behind and buries her face between her shoulder blades. The sudden contact made her jump, but she was lucky not to spill any of the expensive wine all over the countertop.
The two stand in silence while Kiko pours the wine, before she picks up both glasses and gently moves the two to the couch, making herself comfortable on the soft cushions.
The waterbender passes Lin her glass, before taking a hefty sip and sighing contentedly, “That’s the stuff.” She mutters into the rim of her glass.
Lin nods in agreement, despite not being much of a wine drinker, before setting it down on the coffee table and snuggling closer to her partner, “This has been nice.” She mutters, not one for words.
Kiko only lets out a hum of agreement, resting one arm over the back of the sofa, “I really have had a great time, Lin. Thank you for this.” She places a soft kiss against her lover’s forehead, loving the way her nose scrunches up at the contact.
The two sit on the couch and chat for a good three hours, until both of their eyes are drooping and threatening to send them to sleep.
Instead of trying to fight it, the two make their way to Lin’s bedroom, where Kiko notices that she doesn’t have any clothes to wear, which prompts Lin to dig through her drawer until she finds a shirt and shorts that looked like they would fit her.
“This is my shirt!” Kiko exclaims, noticing the bright letters of one of her favourite bands slayed across the top of the shirt.
Lin is thankful that their backs are to each other in that moment, her blush creeping up once again, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Yeah, right. Shirt thief.” Kiko teases her, not actually mad at the shirt stealing.
Lin's the first to get in bed, lying on her side to face the wall, before she feels the bed dipping beside her and arms wrapping tightly around her waist.
Kiko presses a soft kiss to Lin’s shoulder, her warm breath against her skin as she whispers her goodnight wishes, “Night, Lin. Sleep well.” One of her hands around her waist tightens in comfort.
Lin does the same, one of her hands clutching Kiko’s and whispering her own goodnight into the darkness of the room, “Goodnight Kiko...”

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 25
CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD
Korra’s POV
The slam of the door echoes across the dining room followed by an intense silence. No-one says anything for a few seconds.
I turn to Suyin, giving her a sympathy gaze. “I am so sorry for that. That was uncalled for.”
“Apology accepted!” Varrick replies, voice loud and booming. “Now, if you all don’t mind, I’m going to dive right in. I’m famished!”
Ignoring the businessman, I continue staring at Suyin. The anger that was present within her eyes has now diminished.
“Is your friend normally like that?” She eventually asks, voice now calm and controlled.
I shake my head. “No. They aren’t.”
Looking back at the now closed door, I narrow my eyes in deep concentration.
Where did all of that come from? What was Y/N’s problem? Suyin has been nothing but kind to us! What they said about her was just mean! What’s gotten into them?
Ever since we’ve left Air Temple Island, Y/N has been acting…off. Something’s bothering them. I’ve been so busy on finding the airbenders that I’ve neglected my best friend’s feelings. Still, that’s no excuse to treat Suyin like that.
Sighing heavily, I turn back to my food. “I’ll have a word with them later when they’ve cooled off.”
“Make sure you do.” The matriarch replies, also turning her attention back to her food.
I still stare at my food, untouched for the past few minutes.
First Lin. Now Y/N?
Can things get any worse?
Y/N’S POV
I storm through the corridors of the maze-like building, hoping to find a way out of this obnoxious place. My fiery rage from my debate with the matriarch still goes strong. If anything, the anger is amplifying.
Each step I take, the flames within grow. Each step I take, the dragon’s voice at the back at my mind becomes louder and louder and louder.
Suyin is corrupt. Just like the Earth Queen. Just like Tarrlok and most of the Republic City Council were. They are all the same.
No, stop it.
Stop denying. You know it’s true. Suyin puts on a noble façade with a fake smile, but she is just as bad. Maybe even worse.
No! Tarrlok and most of the City Council treated all non-benders like they were Equalists! The Earth Queen rules with an iron fist and treats her people like they’re objects! Suyin doesn’t do that!
Suyin’s methods are different, but her rule is the same tiresome, infuriating theme as theirs. Arrogant, self-absorbed egomaniacs who attempt to make their vision a reality whether the public like it or not. Tarrlok tried to be Republic City’s saviour and ended up as bad as his father, but he never sugar-coated his actions. He accepted them for what they were. The Earth Queen doesn’t hide her true self either. She is what she is and she’s proud of it. But Suyin? Either she’s oblivious and painfully unaware of who she really is or she’s lying to herself. She hides her true self. She phrases her actions as kindness and honourable. That is why she’s worse.
I said stop!
Suyin has the majority wrapped around her little finger.
Her family.
Her city.
Asami.
Bolin.
Mako.
Korra-
STOP!
The intrusive thoughts, the dragon, goes dead silent.
I slow down my steps, the door to the outside in my vision.
Suyin is flawed, hypocritical, and arrogant, but she isn’t as bad as the others. She’s trying to bring a positive force. She leads a beautiful city and has an amazing family. She’s flawed, not evil. Flawed, not evil. Flawed, not evil.
This time, the dragon is dead silent.
Good.
The anger, while still present, has diminished slightly.
I just need some fresh air. Yeah, some fresh air. Maybe I can leave the city and explore one of the nearby mountains. Go and walk around the natural environments. Yeah, that will be nice. Calm. Peaceful and relaxing. When, I’m done I will go to bed. Yeah, that sounds nice.
Taking a deep, long, breath and releasing it in a soothing exhale I open the doors, expecting to see the starry night sky…
Only to see metal surrounding the sky!
WHAT?!
Domes surround the city when its night?!
DAMMIT!
“UGH!” I groan loudly, throwing my arms into the air. “I can’t even look at the stars now?!”
First no secrets at all, then not allowing Opal to leave, then Varrick, and now I can’t even see the night sky?!
I march around the area, not really paying any attention to my surroundings, until I eventually reach to some sort of metal bench. Sitting down with a loud huff, I bury my face into my palms and rub them against my features rapidly.
I thought getting airbending was a dream come true. In my early childhood I longed to have bending. Now I get what my toddler-self wished for and everything goes downhill. First, my parents. Then, the Earth Queen and her corruption. Then this Zaheer and a bunch of criminals. Now this.
What’s worse is none of my friends even seem to care. Not even Korra, my best friend. Sure, we haven’t always seen eye to eye but our differences in our beliefs haven’t always been this stark.
There’s got to be someone who gets what I’m saying, right?
“Excuse me, are you all right?”
I whip my head upwards and see on of the Zaofu guards standing before me. She’s wearing big metal plates covering her form, her helmet with three dagger-like spikes on it covering most of her head. However, I notice her grass pupils and a tiny black mole underneath her right eye.
“Uh, yeah.” I tell her, dropping my hands back onto my knees. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
The expression on the guard’s face doesn’t change in the slightest. “Do you wish to be escorted back to the dining room of the Beifong Household?”
“No!” I rush out, causing the guard to jump back slightly in surprise. I regain my composure and respond in a more controlled manner. “No, I’m fine. That is the last thing I want to go right now.”
This time, I see a flash of curiosity painted across the guard’s face. “Is there a problem?”
I sigh. “To be blunt, I had an argument with your matriarch.”
Her expression, again, changes very little. All I see is a slight frown. “I see.”
Shit, did I make her mad? Oh, who am I kidding? Suyin is the city’s leader! Of course, her guards are going to be mad!
Rising from my bench and dusting off my clothes, I face the guard. “I hope I didn’t intrude or disturb you from your duties. I just wanted to have some fresh air but, much to my disappointment, I was greeted by the metal domes.”
“I understand your frustration.” She sympathises, her tone having no trace of anger or annoyance from my earlier comments. “However, they are a vital addition to the security of Zaofu. It helps keep the public protected.”
“Yes, of course.” I reply. “Suyin called it the safest city in the world. However, I fear she has sacrificed some freedom for maximum security.” Knowing who I am talking to, I raise my hands in an apologetic gesture. “Not to discredit your job and your effectiveness, I’m sure you and the rest of the guards are great, but surely you can understand what I’m saying, right?”
The guard doesn’t respond for a moment, her face neutral. I can almost hear the cogs turning in her head.
“I do.” She finally says. “However, I believe that it is necessary. Without that protection, our freedom can easily be taken away.”
Hm. An interesting perspective.
I nod in understanding. “I get that. Still, I just find it frustrating. Doesn’t help that Varrick is here.”
As soon as the name of the businessman leaves my lips, I notice it. A flicker of irritation in the guard’s pupils.
“The…inventor, right?” she asks, voice gruff.
I hum in confirmation. “After all the shit he’s done, he gets away with it all and ends up living the life here. It’s a misuse of justice. That’s what my argument with Suyin was about. She wouldn’t hear any of it. Even my friends wouldn’t listen. Not a single person agreed with me. It’s frustrating!”
Finishing my rant, I notice the guard staring at me with…curiosity? Familiarity? Something else entirely?
I let out a tense breath, scratching the back of my head. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to rant to you. I’ll leave you back to your duties.”
“I agree.”
Huh?
I whip back to the guard. Her face is once again neutral.
“I’m sorry?”
“I agree with you.”
“Oh…”
I open my mouth but close it again having failed to find my words. After a quick swallow, I speak up once more with confusion. “I…I was under the impression you would have sided with your matriarch.”
Then, much to my surprise, a pretty smirk forms on her lips. “I may be Suyin’s guard, but I don’t believe in everything she does. I am a person, after all.”
Oh…well, that’s true.
Chuckling with a sheepish smile, I cross my arms together. “I guess so. And who is the person I am talking to?
Her smirk widens slightly, and she stretches out her hand.
“Kuvira.”
I take her hand.
“Y/N.”
“I know. Suyin had me do a background check on you and your friends.”
“Oh…yeah. Forgot about that.”
She chuckles. It’s nice.
When the handshake ends, I gaze back at the buildings at the edge of the dome.
“I should probably head to bed.” I tell her. I gaze back Kuvira and give her a small smile. “It was nice meeting you. It’s refreshing to find a like-minded individual.”
Kuvira smiles in return. “The feeling is mutual. Perhaps, we could meet again the following day?”
My eyebrows perk up in surprise. She wants to hang out? Well, it will be better than dealing with awkwardness with me and the others whilst meeting a new friend. Plus, maybe I can get to learn more about Zaofu.
“Sure!” I tell her. “Where and when?”
“Here at nine?”
“An early bird, huh?”
“That is required when you have a job like mine.”
“Indeed. See you at nine, Kuvira.”
“And I you, Y/N.”
We exchange goodbyes and, just like that, we head our separate ways. Kuvira is probably going back on her patrol whilst I walk to my guest room.
At least one good thing came out of tonight.
That good mood didn’t last long, though. Soon after I return to my room, I am interrupted with some pounding knocks.
“Y/N, we need to talk.”
Shit. It’s Korra.
Sighing heavily, I slowly but surely walk up to the door and open it and in front of me I see a very pissed Korra.
“That was out of order, Y/N. What in the spirits were you thinking?!”
Frowning slightly, I cross my arms. “What I was thinking was giving Suyin some rightfully deserved criticism. It’s about time someone gave her the harsh reality.”
My response only seems to anger Korra who places a hand on her hips. “What you did was humiliate her in front of her family. She was trying to do something good, and you threw it in her face.”
Something good? Seriously?!
“You’re telling me after everything Varrick has done you are okay with him escaping punishment?” I ask her. “You were there when he bombed the Southern Water Tribe Cultural Center. So many people could have been hurt!”
The features of my best friend’s face softens slightly. “I was confused initially and I see where you’re coming from. But Suyin is trying to better Varrick and Zaofu by-“
“-Don’t give me that!” I interrupt, throwing my arms up in the air. “She’s doing it for herself.”
The softness on Korra’s face hardens once more. “Varrick is leading her technology division that can benefit the city and its people.”
“Which will benefit Suyin and her reputation.” I counter smoothly. “I see through her act.”
“You think too lowly of her.”
“And you think too highly of her.”
We both go dead silent for an intense moment. The air is thick and suffocating.
I let out a deep and heavy breathe, rubbing my hair with my palm. “I don’t want to end our night in a fight.”
Korra’s face softens once more and her gaze casts downward. “Me neither. Things are already awkward with Lin and Suyin. I don’t want things to be awkward between us too.”
Pinching the bridge of my nose, I let out yet another sigh. “Look, I won’t apologise to Suyin. I think she deserved it. However, I’ll try to tolerate her while we’re still in Zaofu. For you.”
Looking back up, I see Korra nod slowly and a tiny smile form on her lips. “Okay. Thank you.”
I smile back. “Don’t mention it. Have a good night, Korra.”
“You too, Y/N.”
Closing the door, I lean backwards on the door with the back of my head pressed against it, revealed that the moment is over. I can still feel the bittersweetness of the departure.
Let’s hope tomorrow is better.
TIME SKIP
I stand in the same place as the night before, five minutes before nine. I make sure to got up early to avoid any awkward meetings. I haven’t spoken to the others else since Korra and I don’t particularly want to join them at breakfast. Despite telling her that I’ll try to tolerate Suyin, I still fear that she will somehow get a reaction out of me. It’s best I stay out of the matriarch’s way for now.
“Impeccable timing.”
I turn to the source of the voice, and I pause.
There, in front of me, is Kuvira standing tall and proud. Now absent of her heavy armour representing the Zaofu Guard and replaced with the known green robes that typical citizens wear. No longer wearing her helmet, I can see her jet-black hair tied up into a ponytail. She’s stunning.
Feeling my cheeks warm slightly, I cough awkwardly. “Of course.”
Kuvira doesn’t react to the scene playing out before her. She tilts her head in a questioning way. “Have you had breakfast?”
I open my mouth to answer her question but instead of words, the answer is the growling of my stomach. Shit.
Kuvira smirks. “I guess not.”
With a sheepish grin, I rub the back of my neck. “Yeah, I decided to skip breakfast with the others. I didn’t want to risk causing another argument.”
Listening to my explanation, the smirk fades from her lips. Then, the guard turns and starts walking. “Come. I know a place we can eat.”
Huh?
Rushing forward to catch up, I walk side-by-side with her. “We?”
“I haven’t had the chance to eat either.” Kuvira explains. “I know a good place that serves good food. Besides, this will be an opportunity for you to see more of Zaofu.”
Oh…
That’s…sweet.
As she leads me to the train that leads us to another section of the city, I have more look at the intrinsic building. They scream of a utopia with signs of a bright new era on the horizon.
“I’m really impressed with the architecture.” I comment, turning my gaze to Kuvira. To my surprise, she is already focusing her attention at me with a curious glint in her cool eyes. “It’s so much better than what I saw in Ba Sing Se. Not a single inch of poverty and dilapidation.”
She smiles. “Indeed. Thanks to Bataar, the architect, Zaofu is the most advanced city in the entire Earth Kingdom.”
The mention of the architect brings a flash of memory in my mind with the image of a middle-aged man and his younger accomplice passing by the dining room, with the former apologising to his wife and telling her he had a major breakthrough in the tram system.
Despite my issues with Suyin, I cannot deny that her husband is a genius. This architecture and technology should be shared with the rest of the kingdom!
“Well, he should be proud of what he has accomplished.” I finally respond. “All of this is revolutionary! Why hasn’t this been shared with the rest of the nation?”
My question appeared to trouble Kuvira slightly as I see her rip her gaze from me to stare through the tram’s window with a frown present.
Uh oh. Did I make her upset?
“Unfortunately,” Kuvira begins with a trace of bitterness. “the sharing of Zaofu’s resources wouldn’t be possible.”
The phrase of her answer makes me perk an eyebrow and lean forward slightly.
“How come?”
The frown deepens on Kuvira’s face. “The Earth Queen would never allow it. She despises changes or, at least, changes she didn’t implement. She certainly wouldn’t allow a rival of hers to improve her kingdom.”
Of course. Why am I not surprised?
A frustrated groan erupts from me, and I slump down to the tram’s seat. “Typical. The Earth Queen has a chance to improve the lives of her people and refuses it because it would hurt her pride and ego. I met her when we visited Ba Sing Se and what I saw was despicable. Her people were suffering and she herself was vile.”
I hear a hum of agreement from my companion.
Sighing heavily, I glance away. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to rant. It’s just been troubling me for a while.”
“There’s no need to apologise.” Kuvira assures me, finally looking back at me. “I had nothing to add. I agree with you completely. The Queen is a horrible woman who should never have been in charge of the Earth Kingdom.”
“Exactly!” I exclaim, relieved with being understood. “I told Korra and Tenzin the same thing! You know what they said? They said there was nothing we could do other than advise! How is that right?”
All I get from Kuvira are two words.
“It isn’t.”
Before I can respond, the tram reaches its to a screeching halt. We have arrived.
Leaving the transport, the guard leads me through the city for around twenty minutes or so until finally we reach a small establishment. It has a square-like shape with the windows revealing the green interior of the building. I notice a counter with all types of food displayed with a male cashier behind it.
I glance up to see the sign on top of the store. “Badger’s Borrow.”
“Is this a café?” I ask her.
“It is.” Kuvira confirms. “I sometimes come here when I’m not on duty or busy with my dancing. It is welcoming and peaceful.”
Humming in acknowledgement, I gesture to the store door. “Well then, shall we?”
My gesture brings a smirk out of her. “We shall.”
The following minutes were nothing special. All it consisted was us waiting in line and ordering food to eat. Kuvira paid for both of us before I could even tell her I had no cash. She must have know beforehand. Clever.
Now, we sat on a table by the window eating our food. The time it took for us to explore Zaofu, travelling on the tram, and walking to the store was long enough for sunlight to shine down on the city.
“The food is pretty good here.” I tell her, taking bites of the item I ordered. “I can see why you come here.”
“Indeed.” She agrees with a smile. “It’s relaxing.”
The softness in her voice as she compliments the burrow opens a door of revelation for me. When I first saw her, I thought she was all serious, tough, and no-funny business. Now, though, I realise there’s more to her than meets the eye. Heh, in a way, she is a lot like Korra.
Korra…
The image of Korra’s rage at my outburst to Suyin flashes to the forefront of my mind brings my mood down. Despite making up at the end of the night, arguing with my best friend always saddens me greatly.
Kuvira seems to have noticed the change in my mood. “You seem troubled.”
I shake my head. “It’s nothing.”
Glancing upwards, I see curiosity and concern in her gaze. This time, however, I’m going to do ask the questions.
“Can I ask you something?”
Her eyes widen in surprise of the sudden topic change but relents. “You may.”
I lean forward to further engage in the situation. “You barely know me and yet you’re showing me around the city and taking me to a coffee shop you go to. Why?”
The guard’s eyes widen slightly in surprise of my bluntness but proceed to narrow in thought. She doesn’t respond for a while, as if she doesn’t know the answer herself, and I take a drink to act as a distraction to fill in the silence.
“You intrigued me.” Kuvira at lasts respond, though brief as it is.
Oh?
“Intrigued you?” I repeat.
She nods. “Your frustrations with Suyin, specifically.”
I frown. “You said you agreed with me when I talked about Varrick.”
“And I still do.” Kuvria confirms. “Even more so after given it some thought. When Suyin announced Varrick’s contribution to Zaofu despite his history I was troubled.”
Interesting.
I take another sip from my cup, my eyes still locked with Kuvira’s, and place it back down. “Did you say anything to her?”
She shakes her head slightly. “I did not. It is not my place. I’m the Captain of the Guard, not an adviser.”
“Captain of the Guard?” I repeat with surprise. “Adviser or not, that’s a pretty impressive rank to hold. You must be proud.”
She nods with pride. “I am. It is an honour to be given such a title.”
“Suyin must trust you pretty well.”
“I am her protégé.” Kuvira reveals to me, taking a sip of her own drink after the comment. “She mentored me since I was a child.”
“Interesting.” I comment. “Your parents must be proud.”
As soon as that sentence leaves my lips, I know I made a mistake. Kuvira frowns sharply and gazes down at her cup. Her eyes have hint of bitterness and…shame.
“I’m sorry!” I speak up almost immediately after my previous comment. “I didn’t mean to bring up any bad memories.”
“It’s fine.” The captain assures me sharply, though her tone betrays her. It’s clear she’s feeling uncomfortable now.
Despite the awkward silence that followed, I don’t feel any of it. Instead, a great wave of sympathy washes over me and also…familiarity.
An idea comes to me.
Should I do this? I mean, she’s a stranger. I haven’t even told Korra and Mako yet! Or even Tenzin, Kyuni and the others!
A stranger who seems to be like-mind as I. One who seems to be familiar with family troubles. Maybe this might make her feel slightly better.
“If it makes you feel any better…” I begin, trailing off slightly but then catch myself. “I have my own issues with my parents.”
At the mention of my situation, Kuvira immediately snaps her attention to me with her eyes widened. “You do?”
I nod solemnly. “I was gifted airbending too like Opal. I was so excited. I was always so interested in the Air Nation’s culture and to have the chance to be a part of it was…amazing. I remember feeling the rush as I went to call my parents. I told them and do you know what they said?”
Before Kuvira can even have the chance to respond, I chuckle sadly. “My father accused me of abandoning my tribe! Then, he tells me if that if I join the Air Nation I will not be considered as their own! Can you believe that? After years of loving memories, they were willing to abandon me!”
A single tear rolls down my left cheek and I quickly swipe it away.
“Sorry.” I tell her, gazing at my cup. “Didn’t meant to dump all that emotional shit onto your plate.”
Then, to my surprise, I feel a hand land on top of mine with a slight squeeze.
I look back up and I see Kuvira avoiding my gaze and instead focus it on our hands.
“I won’t sugar coat it by telling you everything will be fine.” The captain tells me, her voice hoarse. “It won’t be fine. It will never be. All I can tell you is following your own path. Don’t let your idiotic parents stop you from fulfilling your passions.”
My heart stops from Kuvira’s speech. When it concludes, it resumes.
Her advice is similar to Asami’s and yet…Kuvira’s seems the most…helpful? I don’t know how to explain it. Maybe it was her bluntness of it all. Maybe it was because she seems so familiar.
When she called my parents idiotic a brief spark of anger threatened to erupt but it quickly faded. After I gave it, some thought, she was right. I mean, after everything we’ve been together my parents are willing to cast me aside for wanting their child to follow their dreams and do some good in the world? What kind of parents do you have to be to do that?
“My parents abandoned me when I was a child.” Kuvira speaks up, her stature tense. “They dropped me with Suyin with a mere sack of my stuff and left me. Father told me it was for my own good but, really, it was to make their own lives easier. They abandoned their own daughter. They abandoned me.”
The sympathy that I already had for her intensifies in power and I place my own hand on top of her, now squeezing her hand gently.
Kuvira was abandoned as a child, but she overcame it. She was cast aside by the people she trusted the most and yet she rose to such a high position: The Captain of the Guard of Zaofu. It’s inspiring.
It has inspired me.
If Kuvira can overcome her past with her parents, then so can I. I can surpass this. I know I can.
“Your parents are fools.” I assure her. “From what I’ve seen, you’re so much better than them. Screw them.”
My own comfort brings a smile on Kuvira’s lips.
A smile forms on mine.
Then, in a tiny coffee shop with a stranger I barely know and yet feels so familiar, everything becomes clear. Everything.
“You were born in the Southern Water Tribe, you grew up in the Southern Water Tribe, and had practiced Southern Water Tribe traditions. And now you are abandoning your culture for another!"
“You are trying to abandon your tribe, and your mother and I will not tolerate such a betrayal.”
“The next time we talk, you better tell us you are not joining the Air Nation. If not, don’t contact or visit us ever again.”
The echoes of the past, once plagued my mind, are now only harmless afterthoughts.
I have made my decision.
I will join the Air Nation.

Hope you all enjoyed it!
Feedback is appreciated! :D
See you all in the next chapter!

Breakeven - Jonas Taylor (The Meg)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jonas Taylor x Reader
Warnings: nope
A/N: Inspired by the song Breakeven by The Script. I was having trouble finding a Jonas Taylor fic that fit what I was looking for so I wrote one. The story of my life. Enjoy.
Jonas Taylor’s gaze swept around the flurry of activity surrounding him. He’d just left the infirmary after making certain his sister would recover from the injury she’d received when her sub had been attacked. He needed a shower and a change of clothes but he was too busy searching the halls of Mana One for your familiar silhouette. He hadn’t seen you since the two of you divorced and now that he was so close to you, he felt the need to find you. To assure himself that you were still whole and alive.
Finally, he caught a glimpse of you as you conferred with Suyin, both your heads bent over a tablet as she showed you something. He sucked in a breath as his chest tightened, an odd mix of longing and bitterness churning inside him. He shoved down the rush of emotions threatening to surface, schooling his features into his normal flat expression. He had to appear unaffected. He couldn’t let you know how affected he was by your presence, how the pain clawed at his insides.
“I thought you were going to clean up,” Mac’s voice interrupted. His friend followed his line of sight to see you. “Oh.” He dropped a hand on Jonas’ shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze.
Jonas shrugged him off and gave him a tight smile. “Got sidetracked is all.”
“I see that,” Mac agreed as he put his hands in his pockets and followed Jonas as he walked away from you. They walked in silence for a bit, steps echoing in the quiet hall.
Jonas licked his lips. “Seems like she’s doing okay after everything.” Bitterness colored his words though he’d tried to hide it. He hated that he was torn in pieces, aimless without you and you didn’t seem bothered in the least. It was bullshit.
Mac studied him for a moment. “She’s keeping her head up.” He grabbed his friend by the arm and pulled him into a room. “Let’s have a drink. You look like you could use one.”
Jonas nodded and took a seat in what was clearly Mac’s private room. He sipped at his drink as he watched Mac contemplate something. Jonas knew the look well and waited for his friend to come to a decision.
“You’ve got it all wrong you know,” Mac finally said with a furrowed brow.
“What have I got wrong?”
“It killed her to file those papers.”
Jonas snorted. “I find that unlikely. No, she thought I was crazy just like everyone else and left rather than stand by me like she should have.”
Mac shook his head. “I promised her I wouldn’t say anything, but I’m tired of holding her while she cries over you. I love her like a sister, but she needs you.”
“Then why the hell did she leave?” Jonas tried and failed to mask the desperation in his words.
“Because,” Mac hesitated, swirling his drink as if searching for courage in its depths. “Because the old bastard gave her an ultimatum.” Jonas knew instantly he must be talking about your father. None of you liked him but he was too wealthy and powerful to just write off. Mac sighed, regret contorting his features. “He threatened dire consequences, Jonas. Said you’d suffer if she didn’t cut ties.”
A heavy weight settled in his stomach. If your father wasn’t already dead, he’d kill him for threatening you. For making you too scared to come to him. “Threatened? What did he do, Mac?” His grip tightened on his glass, knuckles whitening.
“He didn’t want your presence staining his good name as he put it. Said he’d use all of his resources to make sure you were broke and homeless with no where to turn. He told her there wasn’t a corner of the Earth where you would be safe from him. Then he told her if she tried to run with you, he’d make certain she’d never see you alive again.” Mac’s voice was little more than a whisper by the end, heavy with the burden of the knowledge he’d been carrying.
A cold shock washed over Jonas, followed by a surge of anger that left him breathless. Your father hadn’t threatened you. He’d threatened Jonas. You’d shattered your entire world to protect him. His breath came heavy and he placed his glass on the table in front of him, afraid he’d drop it otherwise. He ran a hand over his head. “Damn it.” How hadn’t he seen this? Why hadn’t he demanded more answers from you? Why had he just assumed you were abandoning him like everyone else? “I can’t believe she never—”
“Hey,” Mac interrupted gently, placing a hand on Jonas’s back. “You didn’t know because she didn’t want you to. She walked away to keep you safe.”
“Safe,” Jonas echoed, the word bitter on his tongue. The truth of your motivations stripped him of his resentment, leaving a raw, gaping wound in its wake.
“Jonas,” Mac’s voice softened, “she loved you enough to let you go but she was far from okay with it. It tore her up. Still does.”
He clenched his jaw as he processed everything he’d just been told. If you loved him that much, maybe there was still hope for the two of you.
You’d taken to hiding in your room since Jonas arrived, leaving only when you were made to. You hadn’t even been to see Lori in the infirmary afraid you’d run into him there. Mac had been trying to get you to tell Jonas the truth since your father died, but you just couldn’t. He’d hate you for breaking his heart, regardless of the circumstances. It was better to just let him move on without you. For him to find his happiness even if you never did.
A knock at your door reverberated through the room. You opened it without checking who was on the other side. An action you regrated instantly when you found yourself face to face with the love of your life. “Jonas,” you whispered, your voice breaking on the word.
He greeted you in return before pushing gently past you and stepping into the room. You shut the door behind him, your hand trembling against the cold steel. “I didn’t expect—”
“Neither did I,” he said cutting you off. “Why did you do it? Why did you leave me?”
The words hung between you as your eyes searched his, wondering why he suddenly wanted to have this conversation when he’d never asked at the time. “Jonas, I…” you trailed off not certain what you could say to get him to possibly forgive you.
“Please,” he pleaded as his hands clenched and unclenched at his sides. “I heard things about your father, about threats. I need to hear it from you. The truth.”
The silence that followed was suffocating. Your gaze faltered, drifting away before finding its way back to him. “I…you don’t understand.”
“Then help me understand,” he said, stepping closer.
You swallowed the lump in your throat as your heart raced, pounding against your ribs. “My father threatened everything. I never wanted to leave you but if I stayed, if I fought for you…He might have been bluffing, but I couldn’t risk it.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, his voice thick with emotion. “Why didn’t you ask for my help?”
A laugh escaped you then, a cold, bitter sound of disbelief. “How could I, Jonas? Threats from my father aside, you’d been pushing me away since the day everything went to shit. I tried to help you, tried to back you and you didn’t want it. When my father gave me the ultimatum, I figured it wouldn’t matter much to you anyway. It didn’t matter if I was broken, as long as you were okay.”
You couldn’t bear to look at him as hot tears trailed down your cheeks. Strong hands gripped yours and you sucked in a breath in surprise. “Listen to me,” Jonas ordered. “I always knew you deserved better than me and I didn’t want to drag you down with me, but nothing, absolutely nothing would ever make me quit loving you.”
When you said nothing he squeezed your hands. “Say you believe me,” he whispered. “Believe that in a million moments, in a million lifetimes, I would always choose you.”
Your eyes found his, wanting to believe his words. Gods you wanted to. And as he gazed at you full of hope and love and desperation, you found that you did. Could the two of you really have another chance? With your father and his threats gone from your lives, what was stopping you?
Jonas leaned forward suddenly and you barely had time to catch your breath before his lips met yours in a kiss that was both an apology and a plea. His hands moved to cup your face tenderly as if you could vanish in an instant.
Pulling back just enough to meet your stunned gaze, Jonas ran his eyes over your face as if memorizing your features. Whatever he found must have made him happy as a wide grin curled his lips. “Marry me,” he breathed. “Be mine again. Forever this time.”
The sincerity in his eyes was undeniable. Fresh tears trailed the paths of the previous ones but this time they were happy, full of love and hope. You brushed your lips against his as you whispered his name.
He kissed you again, needy and wanting, before resting his forehead against yours. “Is that a yes?”
You chuckled. “Yeah, baby, that’s a yes.”
His hands trembled slightly as he pulled you into his chest and wrapped his arms around you. He buried his face into the curve of your neck and inhaled your still familiar scent. For the first time since you walked out the door all those years ago, he felt whole.
“I’m so sorry,” you whispered against his skin.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for, sweetheart. As long as you never leave my side again everything will be fine.” As he pressed a kiss to your temple, there was a knock on your door.
“Go away,” he called, making you laugh.
There was a stretch of silence before you heard Mac say your name in question which only made you laugh harder. You pulled away to answer your door, Jonas moving with you. Mac looked between the two of you, before grinning like an idiot. “I’m sorry to interrupt this, like you have no idea how sorry, but we’ve got a meeting to talk about the meg.”
You nodded and moved to follow him before Jonas grabbed your arm and pulled you back. “We’ll be there in a minute,” his rough voice said as he shut the door in Mac’s face.
When he turned you and pressed you against the door as he kissed you deeply, all your protests disappeared. This is where you belonged. Right here with your husband as if the last five years had never happened. You wrapped your arms around his neck as you kissed him back and wondered if they really needed you to tell them to kill the giant shark before it ate everyone. Surely they could figure that out on their own.

“ Just give me true love and understanding for the rest of my days.
Tumblr media
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “The Kyoshi warriors are there to help out people who need it.” the female's voice sounded distance. “Your gran–gran Suki was the best warrior out there and I'm sure you will be a great leader to the new generation of warriors just like her.”
You hands played with your set of fans while sighing. Even after so many years, you still had your mother's comment rounding your mind every now and then.
She was the daughter of Sokka and Suki, born a waterbender, she was never forced to follow her mother's path nor her father's career, but after Suki's passing she decided to keep her legacy alive as much as she could before her own descendants could. Your mother always wanted to have children, but had the bad luck to have a hard time conceiving, so she decided that it would be best to adopt. She would have the child she always wanted and would give one a family.
She had always said how it was an instant connection when you two first met. Seeing a little you coloring on a book with such concentration and determination made her heart warm and after that it was history.
You didn’t know by that time that you were an earthbender, but your green eyes had told on you to be from the Earth Kingdom, your mother said how –even if you weren't blood family– she could see Suki on you, it was almost like she came back to live. And so you were taught the Kyoshi warriors culture, she made sure to let you know how if you didn’t want to follow with it that would be okay, but you always said how you will continue the legacy. That was what you've been doing all this years.
You've been living in the Kyoshi island since reaching your teenage years and only after your training with them finished and finally named a warrior you were able to come and go from the island as you wish. In one of those trips, you met Wing.
The Kyoshi warriors were split and sent to recognition of the most important points of the Earth Kingdom first and your group was sent to Zaofu. When you arrived the matriarch received all of you with open arms and such a sweet aura that made you feel welcomed, Suyin said how excited she was to finally meet the Kyoshi warriors after hearing stories about them when she was younger and showed everyone around.
At your arrival to what it seemed to be a training area with big metal pieces, you could spot two boys, twins to be specific. While you were looking around that area and Suyin was explaining what it was, green eyes were set on you with a special brightness in them; Wing felt as if he was just struck by an arrow when he saw you giggle at a joke made by his mother.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Think fast!” Wei screamed throwing the disk at him, he was too distracted and got hit with the object at the side of his face. With a loud groan he felt sat on the floor. “My spirits, you are an idiot.”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Boys!” the older woman exclaimed terrorize by the sudden accident.
Everyone was quick to get closer to them, you had tell that you'd check on the hurt twin since you knew about first-aid. “Hey, are you okay? Can you hear me well?” you asked after crouching in front of him.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I think the disk made him stupid.” the other twin said laughing when Wing took too long to answer clearly distracted by you, his mother hit him in the shoulder.
At first he was mumbling a little bit at your sight that made you frown. “Pretty... I mean! Yeah, I can hear you!” Wei exploded in laughter and you could feel your face warmer.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “That's great,” you made sure he was seeing well by asking him to tell you the amount of fingers you were holding. “Can you tell me what your full name is?” your hands touched the skin in his face looking for any wound open.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Wing... Wing Beifong.” he answered feeling tickles in each spot your fingers were touching. “What's yours?” you smiled and presented yourself, he made sure to burn your name in his brain.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What day are we in, Wing?” he answered with the date, feeling his heart skip a beat at how his name sounded on your voice. “Okay, I'm sure you're fine, just don't take any naps right now for precaution.”
Suyin sighed and took her other twin's ear. “You and I will talk about your way of playing.” you looked at the exchange with a smile and when you turned back to Wing, he was still staring at you with such curiosity.
And after that interaction, Wing was obsessed. He loved the way your touch felt on his skin, how sweet his name sounded on your voice, how your green eyes had this cute brightness on them that made them shine like they were a pair of the most beautiful emeralds, how your Kyoshi make-up looked so good on you and made your eyes the center of attention.
Wing looked for you in any chance he had, always bringing you gifts, taking you on small walks on the city, asking you on spontaneous dates which you gladly accepted to ever single one of them and after some time on the city, the warriors needed to visit a different one so Wing took the opportunity to ask you out formally a day before leaving.
A couple of years had gone by since that, sometimes you would visit the family on Zaofu or he would meet you at Republic City, the relationship was just great.
When the whole Kuvira situation took flight, you made sure to be by your boyfriend's side as much as you were allowed too and when it ended, you had an idea.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You want us to visit the Kyoshi island?” he asked carefully, making you nod with a little of slowness.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I thought... Uhm, since this whole thing took a toll on everyone that... Maybe you can come to the island and have tiny vacations... Just if you want! I'm not pressuring you to anything! If you don't want that's okay.” you talked a little too fast for his liking, but he smiled with such calm before cupping your face in his palms.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We would love to, my love.” he answered giving you a tiny peck on the lips.
Another thing he loved from you was your personality. Even if when you were fighting people you looked intimidating, at any calm interaction with new people, you would almost make yourself smaller. He knew after your third date how you didn’t like being in such places with large groups of people and he made sure to take you to places were you felt comfortable. When he introduced you to his family formally, he answered every single question for you and the way how he always was thinking of you and your well-being made you fell more in love with him... If that was even possible.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We are!?” an excited Opal asked at the dinner table, a big smile on her face.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I asked for permission and was granted,” you nodded. “It's a little vacation trip I want you to have to relax and also as a thank you for teaching me how to metalbend.” your voice got lower at the last part, a little bit withdrawn, your face started to feel warm.
Your boyfriend took your hand in his, smiling. “Nonsense, darling, you were already a natural when you came here!” Suyin exclaimed. “We just helped you activate your potential.”
Plans were made and not even a week later, the whole Beifong family was at the entrance of the Kyoshi island, looking around amazed by it. Even after all those years, the island was restricted to just the people on the village and the warriors, so almost no one in the modern age knew how it looked.
You had asked one of your teammates to do the tour for you and after that, a small welcome dinner was held.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Uh, sorry–.” you tried to speak to get their attention, Wing made a gesture that he would handle it.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Family!” he exclaimed loud enough for them to stop talking, once in silence, he smiled. “Thank you, you can go now.” the last part he said your way.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hi, sorry, I would like to thank you all for accepting my invitation here.” your fingers were drumming slightly on your side after standing up. “It really means a lot to me to have all of you here, I appreciate you for taking me in as one of your own and... I hope you enjoy the island.” a nervous smile took place on your face.
After that the whole family burst in cheerings clapping at you and smiling with such fond aura. Wing got closer to you after sitting down. “That was sweet, honey, I love you.” he said, a soft kiss was exchanged between you two.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Ugh, that's disgusting! We're eating!” Wei exclaimed in a jokingly way, throwing pieces of bread at his brother.

✨Instead of working as a member of the Metal Clans guard, you ended up being personal assistant to Suyin
✨You don't posses the ability to bend metal, thus making it hard for you to integrate fully into the metal bending clan. This has also generated a slight rift between you and your sister, who is a master metal-bender.

Makeup
Lin Beifong x fem reader
This was a request I got! Fem reader dresses Lin up and does her makeup all girly. I’m still working on the kuvira vs Lin one I’m trying to figure out what to do I kinda know what I want to do it’s probably gonna be a quick mini series but don’t think I forgot I’ve literally been moving 😭 well I’m moved into my house now but now I gotta put shit away and I’m trying to figure out where to put stuff and blah blah it’s a fucking mess anyways! On to the story!
I was looking around for Lin but I couldn’t find her till I heard groaning coming from a room. I sighed. I already knew what she was doing. I opened the door and saw Lin working out. “Linny really?” I asked and placed my hands on my hips. She was in her tank top lifting weights. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t turned on but now is not the time! Lin sighed and put the weights down. I walked over to her and poked her chest. “We have to get ready. Now let’s get you in the shower.” I said then turned away from her and walked towards the door. I heard Lin coming behind me mumbling a bunch of incoherent nonsense to me. She’s being a baby. She promised Su she’d dress up for this party but not the way Lin normally does. No suit and tie for her and again I’d be lying if I said seeing Lin in a suit and tie didn’t do anything to me. Drove me up a wall. Lin has to wear a dress and makeup! I was tasked with finding her dress and makeup. Su was gonna do her hair.
We got to the room and Lin was still folding her arms. “Linny you promised Su.” I told her. “I know, I know. Let’s get this over with.” Lin grumbled as she sat down on the bed. “Ok let me show you the dress I picked for you.” I told her and went into the closet. I grabbed the dress and stepped out the closet to show Lin the dress. I held it up for her. “What do we think?” I asked her. I was holding up a long black dress. It was backless and it had light silver chains hanging on the back. The dress straps were basic. I didn't want to constrict her to the dress and plus I want her to show off her muscles! She works hard. She's gotta show em off. “I like it. You picked well.” Lin said. I looked at her and she was nodding her head in approval. I smiled. “Yay!” I squealed. She playfully rolls her eyes. “Now go shower, I'll wait.” I told her. Lin nodded then went into the bathroom.
I laid the dress down gently then set up the vanity. I made sure I had everything for Lin. After a while Lin came out in a robe and I smiled. “Did you wash your face?” I asked her. She shook her head. “Let’s wash your face then moisturize.” I told her and dragged her back into the bathroom. Lin nodded and I let her use my face wash. After she washed her face I pat dried her face then I let her use your fancy moisturizer as she likes to call it. Once that was done I took her to the vanity and I sat her down so I could do her makeup. I primed her face, used concealer, and skin tint because it’s a bit lighter and her face doesn’t need a lot of coverage. I didn’t bother to contour because she’s already got good bone structure so just a bit of bronzer to bring color to her face. Once that was done I did light blush. I didn’t want to add too much to her face like I do myself.
When I finished it was time to do eyeliner. I was trying to figure out how to find a good position to do her eyeliner. “Fuck, ok I’m gonna have to get up and personal.” I told her and sat on her lap. Lin opened her eyes and looked at me. “I’m sorry I gotta get this eyeliner done.” I said. Lin nodded then relaxed and pulled me closer to her. “Thank you for cooperating.” I said and started to do her eyeliner. I did a simple small wing, nothing crazy and I did my best to copy the same wing on her right eye. I closed the eyeliner pen then put it down and cupped Lin’s face and looked at her. Turning her face from side to side to make sure the eyeliner looked good.
Lin opened her eyes. “Close your eyes.” I told her. She sighed and closed her eyes. “Ok I think it looks good.” I said. “Can I look at myself now?” Lin asked. “No! I’m not done yet jeez.” I said. She groaned. “Be patient.” I told her. Lin sighed and patted my thighs. I laughed. I turned to grab my eye shadow palette and brushes. It was a basic brown palette. Just to bring a little warmth to her eyes after I finished I grabbed my lash tray and glue. I put glue on the left lash then let it dry a bit. Once it was semi dry I put the left lash on her left eye. It was a simple lash, nothing dramatic but it would work really well with her eyes. I did the same to the right lash then cupped Lin’s face and turned it from side to side. “Looking good.” I mumbled. I then grabbed my setting spray.
“Keep ya eyes and mouth close.” I told her. Lin nodded and then I sprayed her face with setting spray. Once I was done Lin coughed. “Is that fucking hair spray?” Lin asked. “Probably but it keeps your makeup together.” I said. Lin sighed. I looked at her face again then smiled. “Perfect.” I said. I grabbed a little mirror and gave it to Lin. She looked at herself. “Hmm pretty good.” Lin said and nodded her head. “You like it?” I asked. “I do but I know I won’t be as pretty as you.” Lin said, stroking my cheek. The door opened. “Hey…am I interrupting something?” Su asked. “Oh no. I just finished up her makeup. She’s all yours.” I told Su and got up from Lin’s lap. Su nodded and I left the room to go to mine. My heart was racing. I got to my room and started getting ready. I did my makeup then got dressed. By the time I finished I heard a knock at my door.
“Come in.” I said. My door opened and it was Lin. “Oh Lin! You look beautiful.” I said and walked over to her. “Thank you but I will never do this again.” Lin said. “Oh come on! You look stunning.” I said. “I do but this isn’t my style and you know it.” Lin said. “I know but you look so pretty.” I said. “You look beautiful.” Lin said. “Thank you.” I said. “Let’s get this party over with.” Lin said and held out her hand to me. I took her hand and my heart melted. I let her lead me into the party. Mako and Bolin were shocked to see Lin all dressed up. “Wow Chief!” Bolin exclaimed. “You look great, Chief.” Mako said. “Thank you.” Lin said. As the night went on Lin and I drank and danced the night away. I was having the best night of my life with her. The party was still going but Lin and I decided we were over it and went back to her room making out.
When we got into her room she locked the door and tossed me onto the bed. Lin started taking off her dress and I sat up to take off my dress. Lin climbed on top of me and we went back to making out. “You know since you’re so pretty and feminine you wanna try without the strap?” I teasingly asked. “No.” She said. “Fine. We do it your way.” I said. “That’s right.” Lin said and smirked.

Icy Waters Vol. I
Chapter Eleven
The next few days passed in a blur.
Kiko was happy to finally be out of the busy city, though she was desperately missing her kids. She often wonders how they’re doing without her.
Are they being looked after? Are they being fed? Are they keeping safe? The questions torment her frequently.
There has been one thing that’s keeping her mind off her worry, however, and that person just so happened to be sneaking into Kiko’s room late at night.
Lin cracks open the door to her room, poking her head in to confirm that it is the correct one, before she scurries in, a little comedically.
Kiko snickers at the way she is walking, “Why are you walking like that?”
The tired metalbender pouts, slightly grumpy at the teasing, “I’m trying to be quiet.” She sits on the bed next to Kiko, tucking her legs underneath her.
The waterbender takes in what she is wearing; an oversized band t-shirt that looks suspiciously like Kiko’s; like the one she thought she’d lost on the boat, and loose shorts. Despite the fact that she’s clearly just wearing pyjamas, Kiko can’t help but drag her eyes over her figure.
Kiko's lying lengthwise along the bed, reaching her hand over to rest on Lin’s calf as she talks a little more seriously, “I’m only teasing.”
“I know, don’t worry.” Lin assures.
Kiko hums and continues, “Did anyone see you?”
The metalbender shakes her head, “No, I made sure Su was asleep in her room before I snuck out; she has a tendency to sneak into my room. Don't worry.” She places her hand over Kiko’s that was still resting on her leg.
It's not that they were ashamed of the relationship—far from it. Kiko would love nothing more than to be able to parade Lin around on her arm around Ember Island, as well as in Republic City.
But, they’ve only just began the transition into a new relationship, it’s hardly the time for meddling family members. They both agreed to keep their development quiet for the time being, until they’re ready to share.
Kiko doesn’t think that’s going to last long, though.
With Kya, Sokka and now Izumi on their trail, there’s no way they’re going to be able to keep it a secret for much longer. According to Lin, Su’s becoming suspicious, too. Toph, though, couldn’t care less.
There is another factor that makes Kiko hesitant to share this new relationship, however. Tenzin.
He's what made her so damn hesitant in the first place. She can’t help but feel bad at it. It's hardly her fault though, right? Lin clearly had no interest whatsoever in Tenzin.
Though, a little part of her deep down can’t help but look forward to rubbing it in that smug airbender face.
Kiko's slightly spiteful thoughts are interrupted by Lin leaning over her, “You still here?” She waves a hand in the waterbender’s face, who catches her hand and intertwines their fingers.
She snorts and pulls Lin a little closer, “How could I not be with such a beautiful woman by my side.”
Lin rolls her eyes slightly, a cheeks flushing red. She doesn’t say anything, just leaning down with her eyes locked on Kiko’s lips, who whispers against her, “Shy?” She asks when the metalbender pauses.
She only shakes her head, before pressing her lips against Kiko’s, deepening the kiss almost immediately. The brunette tilts her head slightly, adjusting the angle all while wrapping an arm around Lin’s slender waist.
Kiko can feel her take in a sharp inhale of breath when she presses their chests flush together, and she revels in the noise, other hand releasing Lin’s and moving to run through her silky black hair.
Lin, seemingly becoming a little braver, runs her tongue along the seam of Kiko’s lips and allows herself to explore Kiko’s mouth with fervour, eliciting a small groan from the waterbender who tightens her hand on her waist in response.
They kiss with passion and intensity, Lin clearly getting worked up as she pushes Kiko fully onto her back from where she had been slightly turned on her side, and leans over her, legs intertwined.
Kiko can feel one of Lin’s hands run down her body from her waist to run her finger around the seam of her pyjama trousers, prompting the waterbender to take her hand from her partner’s hair to hold that hand. She reluctantly pulls away, though their faces stay close together.
Lin keeps her eyes close as Kiko admires her; a small string of saliva still connecting their kiss-bitten lips.
“Not yet.” She whispers, watching as Lin’s eyes open once again, revealing the emerald green eyes that Kiko has come to love.
She only nods, once again closing her eyes and resting their foreheads against one another. Kiko inhales deeply, rubbing her nose affectionately against Lin’s, before pulling away and tucking her head under the black-haired girl’s chin.
“Is there any chance you can stay tonight?” She asks hopefully, knowing that she will likely decline due to their agreement of not letting anyone find out quite yet.
Lin hesitates, before tightening her arms around the waterbender and kissing the top of her head, “I just need to make sure I get up early to go back to my bedroom.”
Kiko smiles against Lin’s chest, nuzzling her face in further like a cat in an attempt to get more comfortable.
They look like a tangled mess of limbs on the bed; entwined legs and arms tightly hugging each other.
Kiko thinks she’s in heaven
---
Despite the amazing time off on Ember Island, Kiko was glad to be home in Republic City, back working her two jobs and living on Air Temple Island.
It was her first day back at The Union when she saw her again; Asako, who was looking as elegant as ever working at the bar.
She always had an air of finesse around her—long black hair always freshly washed and silky, similar to Lin’s, though it was longer, and the red lipstick she always had painted on her cupid’s bow lips.
Kiko never really wore makeup; never really had access to it growing up, unless she had rummaged through her mother’s. Some of her favourite memories was of her mother attempting to help the young waterbender put on some makeup. She was squirmy as a kid—never wanting to stay in the same place for too long.
It was only occasionally that she wore makeup now—for when her and Lin go somewhere a little bit nicer, or if they were going to some sort of festival.
However, she did notice that Lin liked to wear a small bit of makeup every day; some neutral lipstick making them look extra soft and kissable, as well as her slightly infrequent use of mascara.
Kiko doesn’t think she needs any makeup; as cliche as it sounds, she really does think that Lin is the most beautiful woman she has ever seen.
Asako notices her friend come out to the bar, pushing off the counter where she was talking to a customer before taking a once over of the waterbender.
“Looking good, Kiko.” She smirks, “That got something to do with a certain metalbender, by any chance?” She asks, a cheeky smile spreading across her rosy cheeks.
Kiko rolls her eyes; Asako had been continuously asking if anything had happened between her and Lin. While she was disappointed to be let down time and time again with Kiko’s news of no progress, the waterbender is excited to let her know the new development.
She had already asked Lin, in anticipation for this, about whether she could disclose their relationship to Asako, considering their plan of keeping it low-profile for the time being.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Kiko smiles, giving her friend a quick side-hug before fiddling with her shirt cuffs.
“Is that a yes?!” She practically screams, catching the attention of a few patrons at the bar.
Kiko nods apologetically towards the old man that was currently rolling his eyes at them before nodding at Asako, “Yes.” Before she can elaborate any more, she notices a few more customers approach the bar, “I’ll tell you more later.” She whispers, placing a hand on her friend’s shoulder as she walks past.
“Oh, girl. You’re coming back to my place after this.”
Kiko only laughs, before approaching the new customer and take his order. She really was ecstatic to be able to share the news with her friend, despite knowing that Lin was a little hesitant at first, considering Asako and Kya’s ‘relationship’.
“You want to tell Asako?” Lin questions, a little furrow between her eyebrows.
They were back on the boat by now, in the same arrangements as they had been when they were arriving on Ember Island; Kya’s feet by Kiko’s head, with Lin’s head on the waterbender’s chest.
Kiko was running a hand soothingly through her hair, and Lin feels slightly like she is about to pass out in her arms.
“Only if you’re alright with that. I know that we’re keeping this... development private for now.” Kiko really didn’t know what to describe their relationship as — can she say that they’re dating? They never agreed on any labels or arrangements. What if she only saw this as a holiday fling?
Before the brunette’s mind can race anymore, Lin is able to put her mind at rest, “We need to make sure she doesn’t tell Kya.”
She always seems to know when I’m stuck in my own mind. Kiko thinks affectionately, before kissing the top of her head, “She won’t tell, don’t worry.”
Lin only hums, tilting her head up and pressing a kiss against Kiko’s chin, before the waterbender tilts her head down to kiss her properly.
Kiko’s shift goes relatively quickly.
By the time she reads 22:45 p.m. on her watch, there were little to no customers left in the bar, a few stragglers the exception.
She has a rag in her hand, wiping down the counter with disinfectant spray as she hears the bell ring above the door, shouting out the mindless words she does every night, “We’re closing soon, if you want a drink then final orders are in five minutes.”
Footsteps approach the bar in front of her, “Lookie who it is. Beifong’s pretty little girlfriend. Tell me, are you still getting yourself into trouble?” He sneers with a disgusting smirk.
Kiko's head snaps up at the familiar voice. Lieutenant Keta.
She takes a brief and subtle look over her shoulder at the back door, where she knows Asako is right now. She can only pray to the spirits that she’s going to come out soon.
The waterbender tries to ignore the disturbing feeling that rushes through her—the spine-chilling shiver that crawls through her body. The way he looks at her makes her want to tear her skin off. Like she’s a piece of meat.
“Excuse me sir, is there anything you want to order?” She pretends not to know him, though she knows that he sees right through her. That he sees the fear that he instils in her.
Kiko's dealt with monsters in her time, but this guy feels different.
“Would you tell Beifong if I said you?” He gives her a smarmy smile; one that makes the waterbender believe that her scepticism of him isn’t completely unreasonable.
She doesn’t know what to say, just gaping at the man in front of her, “I- that’s highly inappropriate.” She stutters, completely unsure of what to say.
“Didn’t know you’d be a prude with that body.” His eyes run down her figure in the form fitting black shirt she’s currently wearing. Kiko wants to crawl out of her skin.
“Sir, I-”
Luckily, another voice butts in before Kiko can get into an even bigger mess, “I think you should leave.” Asako’s voice calls out from behind Kiko, her strong voice projecting from behind Kiko; a hint of warning in her tone.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, right?” The asshole has the nerve to look shocked.
“We have the right to deny service to anyone, especially people harassing our staff.” Asako stands confident in front of him, having made her way closer to the bar.
“I’m a cop, you can’t kick me out!” Keta shouts in outrage.
Asako’s composure breaks a little, “I will kick out anyone that harasses our staff, now please collect your stuff and leave.” She nods her head towards his bag and badge that is lying, discarded, on the stool next to him.
He huffs and clenches his hands in an aggressive manner. Kiko isn’t subdued by any means; she will fight if she needs to. She's been doing it her whole life. But something about this man makes her shrink back.
“You’ll regret this.” He points at the waterbender, before snatching up his things and leaving the bar.
Kiko lets out a shaky breath, leaning her back against the bar. They occasionally got aggressive customers, yes. But no one has quite shaken her like Lieutenant Keta. I have to tell Lin about this.
There were a few head turned by the disturbance, but luckily, a lot of the left over customers were either very drunk, or forgot about it very quickly.
Kiko feels a hand on her shoulder, turning her head to be reminded of her friend that was standing next to her.
“Are you okay? He was completely insane!” She points out, turning her head towards the door, as if checking to make sure that he is really gone.
The waterbender can only nod, “He was.”
“Have you met him before?” Asako asks with a furrow between her perfectly sculpted brows.
“He works with Lin. Ran into him once at the station.” Kiko shakes her head, eyes trained on her shoes and arms crossed, “He said some weird things then, too.”
Asako looks taken aback, “Was Lin with you?”
“She sure was.”
“And she didn’t do anything?”
“Of course she did, ‘Sako. I had to pull her away.” The waterbender meets her eyes.
The Fire Nation native can only nod and heave out a small sigh, looking a little relieved at Kiko’s assurance, “I’m gonna start closing up.”
---
Kiko needed this; sitting on her friend’s balcony smoking a joint of lillyweed.
The waterbender looks across the horizon from the top floor. Despite working in a bar earning merely minimum wage, Asako is rather well off. Kiko thinks that she is part of some wealthy noble family that comes from old money in the Fire Nation—similar to Lin.
Though, Lin lives in a rather humble apartment compared to Asako’s penthouse.
Kiko takes a hit, tilting her head to rest on the back of the lounge chair as she blows the smoke out of her mouth, handing the joint back to her friend.
“You need to tell me more. How did you two even end up on the beach?” Asako asks before taking a hit.
The brunette chuckles at the memory, “I had told Lin earlier in the day that we could leave the festival if she was feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, and that’s what we ended up doing.”
“Yes, and...” Asako prompts with the hand holding the joint.
“What do you mean ‘and?’? That's what happened.” Kiko playfully rolls her eyes and takes the blunt out of Asako’s hand, enjoying that familiar floaty feeling roll though her body.
“What happened after that, dummy!?”
“Well, we sat on the beach and chatted for a while,” Kiko places a hand on her chin in a mocking thoughtful pose, “And then... let’s see... she was cold, so I gave her my cardigan.”
Asako nods, gesturing for her to continue, “We were... lying very close, I guess. But then she said something that pissed me off a bit-”
“-What did she say?” The black-haired woman is on the edge of her seat.
The waterbender’s smile fades a little at her words, “She just mentioned how me and Kya are very close, and she asked if I was leading her on. Which is a completely reasonable thing to be a bit pissed about, by the way.” She hands the joint back to Asako.
“Either way, I ended up kissing her.”
The Fire Nation native lets out a little squeal, “How was it?!” Her excited voice cuts through the replay of the moment that Kiko had been replaying in her mind.
She smiles dreamily, “Only everything I could’ve dreamed of, Asako. She’s like no one I’ve ever met before. She makes me feel.”
“What did she do after.”
Kiko shrugs a little, “We were both a little caught up in our own world, but eventually I snapped out of it, suggested we go swimming. Did I mention she was wearing one of the sexiest bikinis I’ve ever seen?”
Asako shakes her head and scoffs a little, “Look at you, all lovesick.” She teases.
“I really like her.”
“I can tell.” Asako nods, her tone expressing that she is genuinely happy for Kiko. However, her face soon turns a little more stern, “Are you going to tell her about what happened today? With Lieutenant Keta?”
Kiko shrugs again, “I don’t know. She has a lot on her plate at the moment; she’s trying to get her promotion to detective, apparently the triads are all kicking off, and now we’ve added a somewhat hidden relationship to her plate.”
“It would be worth it to tell her. Don't want her finding out from other people.”
“I guess you’re right.”
---
Lin was reading over some reports when she heard him; Keta’s smug voice filling the bullpen.
“Saw that waterbender chick again last night. The one that works at the Union.” He shakes his head, “Had a right stick up her ass. For a broke girl, she really is picky about customers.”
Lin's head raises at his words, surely he’s not talking about Kiko.
“She was lookin’ all scared, like a puppy.” Lin bristles at his words, his description of the woman she knows is Kiko, “Had her sexy friend come over to kick me out.” He lets out a booming laugh and all colour drains from Lin’s face at his next words, “Y’know, if they weren’t such tightasses, I would’ve had some fun with them.”
The metalbender clenches her fists in raw anger, restraining herself from going over there and slamming his face into his messy desk. Maybe if he did some more work instead of gossiping, then the triads wouldn’t be so many steps ahead of us.
Maybe if he did some more work, then I would be home and inviting Kiko over right now.
Lin can’t help but shake her head at the thought. His words made her angry, yes, beyond belief. But they also made her sad. Why hasn’t she told me? The black-haired woman tries to listen to her reasonable thoughts—that they’ve both just been busy and they haven’t even seen each other since the morning before that shift.
But the other side of her brain is taunting; she doesn’t trust you.
Lin knows that it’s wrong. Their relationship so far has been built on a strong foundation of trust, one that’s developed over the time of their friendship. So why would things have changed in a day? She berates her taunting thoughts.
She takes a peek at the clock, noticing that it reads just gone 8 p.m. The only reason she was staying this late is because she’s been trying to find a lead on the triads, trying to find a mistake. It's not her case, she knows this.
But the guy who has been assigned to it is currently mouthing off to his uninterested ‘friends’. At least his friends don’t like him either.
Lin decides that she is going to focus for another half an hour, before she makes her way back home and contact Air Temple Island.
She manages to get back to her apartment by half-past eight. Luckily, she doesn’t live far from the station.
The metalbender doesn’t bother bending off her uniform when she gets home; focused on calling Kiko and ensuring that she’s alright. She dials the number for the women’s dormitories and is relieved when she recognises Kiko’s voice immediately.
"Hello?"
"Kiko?" She asks, just to make sure that it really is her.
"Lin?"
"Yeah, it's me. Are you alright?"
Kiko’s concerned voice projects through the tinny phone, "I'm fine... Is something wrong?"
"I just overheard Keta talking about a waterbender who worked at the Union. Did he come in last night?"
Kiko sighs frustratedly, and Lin can practically picture her running her hand though her hair, "He did pay a visit last night, though I think he took it more of an opportunity to antagonise me."
"Are you okay?" Lin's voice is filled with concern
"I'm fine, just a little shaken up. I get a really bad feeling about that guy."
Lin nods, though she knows that Kiko can’t see her, closing her eyes in frustration, “I know, me too.” She huffs out a small, frustrated laugh, “Y’know, today, he wasn’t even focusing on the triad case, he was gossiping about you to his friends.”
The metalbender can hear Kiko let out a sigh over the phone, “I had a feeling that might happen. I’m sure that he’s going to be bitter about that for a while.”
Lin can only hum, thinking during the small moment of silence before asking again to reassure herself, “Are you sure you’re alright?” Her voice is almost timid for asking again, but she needs to ensure that her partner is uninjured and mentally sound.
She can hear Kiko’s small, amused laugh over the phone, “You really do worry a lot, you know that?”
“Kiko-”
“I’m fine, Lin. Don’t worry about me.” When Lin still doesn’t talk, she carries on, “I’ll come and visit tomorrow, and you can see for yourself.”
Lin nods to herself, before agreeing, “Be careful.”
“Always.”

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 26
OLD FACE. NEW IDENTITY.
Y/N’S POV
Kuvira and finally arrived back at the edge of Zaofu where the Beifong Household is located. After our emotional talk about our parents of all things we hung out for bit more while before we headed back. Apparently, the guard’s shift was about to start soon.
When we finally reach back to where we began, it was past afternoon. I don’t see any of my friends anywhere. They must be around here somewhere.
“Here we are.” Kuvira states.
“Here we are.” I echo back.
I glance back at the guard with a smile who smiles back.
“This was nice.” I tell her. “I had a good time.”
She nods. “As did I. Hopefully, we could meet again before your departure.”
I hum in agreement. “So do I.”
Then, before I can even react, a press of warm lips land on my cheek and I am engulfed in flames.
“Good day, Y/N.” Kuvira tells me with a smirk, finding my flushed state amusing, and walks away with her hands behind her back in a business-like stature.
Even when she’s walking away, my cheeks still feel like they are on fire. I place a hand on the cheek that she had kissed.
Well then…
Shaking out of my flustered state, I start walking around the city and trying to find anyone there. It’s time I stopped avoiding them.
It took a few minutes, but I finally found them.
And what I see…
“What in the spirits is going on here?!”
I see Lin lying unconscious on the floor with Korra holding her head. Boulders spread out across the land like confetti, metal panels bent out of shape to form barriers, and I even see one of those weird metal structures crashed against the wall.
That’s not the only thing I see. I notice Opal on a bridge with Suyin and Bolin on the right end and most of the Beifong family on the left.
“Y/N!” Bolin exclaims with urgency. “Not trying to be rude but, uh, you kinda showed up at the wrong time.”
“Clearly.” I agree, walking closer to Korra and Lin. I kneel down next time and examine the Chief of Republic City Police’s health to see her condition. She looks awful. Not only is she slightly wounded from the fight, but she looks as pale and white as the snow land of the South Pole.
Opal rush towards us too, her posture clearly expressing her nearly overwhelming worry. “Is she okay?!”
“She’s pale.” I comment. “And slightly injured but…she’ll be all right. What happened?”
“I just learnt how to metalbend and Bolin was about to start but Lin showed up out of nowhere.” Korra explains, nervous and confusion mixed into one. “She and Su started to argue and then Lin attacked and all of a sudden they started fighting!”
Putting the revelation that Korra can now metalbend aside, I continue focusing on the chief. Sounds like the tension between the two siblings finally reached its dangerous breaking point.
“That doesn’t matter right now.” Suyin tells us, who has now walked towards us. Her tone expresses regret and shame. “We need to take Lin to her room and give her some medical attention.”
“Agreed.” I tell her. “Let’s carry her.”
With the strength of Korra, Bolin, Suyin, and I, we manage to bring her to her guest room. When we place her onto the bed, Aiwei enters the room with clear distress. “I heard what happened. Is she all right?”
“I’m not sure.” Suyin tells him.
The trusted advisor lets out a very tense sigh. He marches towards Lin and examines her. “This is my fault. I suggested to her to visit an acupuncturist to help deal with her supressed feelings. She must have not allowed herself to rest once the process was done.”
The worries from the matriarch and the truth seer aren’t mutual to mine.
“The Chief has been through worse.” I assure them but looking at Suyin specifically with sympathy. “She’ll live.”
“Y/N is right.” Korra agrees, facing them too. “Lin has dealt Equalists and mecha tanks. If she can survive that, she can survive this.”
The words of our reassurances seem to have worked as the tense and frightened looks of Suyin, Aiwei, and Opal smooth out and diminish slightly.
“That’s good to hear.” Aiwei responds. “Right now, I think she just needs some rest. We should leave her be.”
Yeah, that’s probably the best idea.
As we all reluctantly leave and then proceed to go our separate ways, I hear my name being called out.
“Y/N. May I have a word?”
I turn and see the matriarch. Her expression is unreadable.
With my fists tightly clenched and my body tensed, I slowly but surely walk towards her.
“Yes?”
“Thank you for helping to bring my sister here.” She tells me with her tone containing gratitude. “You didn’t have to after our last meeting.”
Oh…
“Lin needed help.” I reply. “I wasn’t going to refuse to help her because of some argument.”
She nods in understanding. “Of course. You’re as noble as Korra.”
“No chance.” I tell her in an attempt to appear humble. I hesitate slightly and bite my lip. Then, finally, I continue speaking. “Look, I am not going to apologise for what I said last night. I stand by my words. But…I will apologise for how I said it in front of your family. That was uncalled for.”
My apology seems to have startled the matriarch as her eyes widen in surprise. Then, a moment later, the surprise is gone. “Thank you. Apology accepted.”
And, with an exchange of nods, we depart.
I meet up with Korra, Bolin, and now Mako and Asami who seemed to have been caught up on what happened.
“The talk with Su gone all right?” Korra asks me when I finally approach them.
“Surprisingly, yeah.” I reply. “I apologised for how I acted to her. We seem to be on mostly good terms now.”
“That’s a relief.” Asami says. “That means you won’t be skipping breakfast tomorrow?”
I rub the back of my head with a sheepish grin. “I’ll be there.”
“What were you doing anyway?”
“I had a prior engagement.”
Korra cocks an eyebrow. “Prior engagement?”
I shake my head gently. “Met a guard of Zaofu when I stormed out. We hung out and decided to hang out today. She seemed pretty cool.”
“Pretty cool, huh?” Bolin asks with a smirk.
The memory of Kuvira’s kiss on my cheeks resurfaces and I feel my cheeks heat up slightly. Regardless, I roll my eyes.
“Not like that.” I tell him. “What about you guys, though?”
“Like I said before, Suyin gave me some metalbending lessons!” Korra informs me with excitement. “I am now the world’s first metalbending avatar!”
My eyes widen. Not even Aang learned metalbending? Interesting.
“That’s awesome, Korra!” I tell her. I turn to our earthbending friend. “What about you, Bolin? Did Suyin teach you too?”
My words seem to have struck the wrong chord, though, as nervousness washes over him. “Uh, no. No. Not yet. She was about to but, uh, Lin interrupted.”
“Oh.” I respond, not really knowing what to say. “Well, I’m sure she will give you some lessons later.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Bolin responds, the nervousness still present. “Of course.”
Hm. Odd.
I open my mouth to speak…and then close it.
Now with the urgency of Lin’s condition now gone, the memory of my conversation I had with Kuvira and my final decision now returns more louder than ever.
It’s time.
“There’s something I need to tell you, guys.” I announce, my voice calm and steady. “Well, specifically, I need to tell you something Korra and Mako.”
“Why us two?” Mako asks, eyebrow raised in curiosity.
I gaze downwards to the ground, and I rub my arm up and down. “Asami and Bolin already know.”
“Know what?” Korra presses.
I take a deep breath and slowly let it out. Despite making my decision, I still feel my heart beating as fast as an Air Scooter.
“Back on Air Temple Island…” I begin softly, shifting my gaze to my friends now. “I phoned up my parents to tell them I got airbending and was planning on join the Air Nation…”
“What did they say?” the firebender asks.
I sigh yet again. “They told me if I join the Air Nation…they will disown me.”
Mako’s jaw drops in shock. Bolin and Asami stare at me with sympathy and care. And Korra…
“They…they couldn’t…”
I get it. I really, really do. Korra has known my parents for years. I’ve lost count of how many times she came to my house and played together while my parents watched on. They treated her almost like she was their own daughter.
“I thought the same.” I bitterly mutter. “But they did. They were being dead serious. They told me I was trying to abandon the Southern Water Tribe.”
“What?!” Korra exclaims, concern now being replaced with anger. “How could they do this?!”
“That’s not it.” I continue. I turn to face her directly and I see the fiery rage in her normally cool eyes. “They even brought you into it by wanting me to ask you take my bending away.”
“WHAT?!” Korra barks out. “That’s it! Let me call them and I’ll- “
“-Korra, no.” I interrupt her, placing both of my hands on her shoulders. I squeeze them gently. “It’s okay, I-“
“-It’s not okay!” she tells me. “They’re your parents and they’re willing to abandon you! That’s awful! How are you fine with all of this?”
“I’m not.” I bluntly tell her. “When the call ended, Bolin saw me as an emotional wreck. It has been bothering me since we’ve left Air Temple Island. I didn’t want everyone else knowing yet. I only told Asami about it because she’s had similar experiences with family trouble.”
“Why didn’t you tell me and Korra?” Mako questions. His tone doesn’t come across as judging or hurting or anything of the sort. Just curiosity.
I sigh. “You guys were so excited and focused on finding new airbenders and I…I didn’t want to be a downer.”
Before I can even react, Korra’s two strong arms pull me into a tight hug with her face buried in my shoulder.
“You will NEVER be a downer.” She assures me. “I’m sorry you’ve been feeling this. I knew something was off, but I had no idea it was this bad. I’m so sorry.”
The beating of my heart that was running as fast as a Satomobile slows down to a gentle pace and a comfortable warmth fills my form. I hug her back just as tightly and smile. “It’s okay. I get it and…I’ve made my decision.”
“And?” Asami asks.
Korra pulls back to look at me. I gaze at all of my friends, and I take a deep breath. “I’m going to join the Air Nation.”
“But your parents-“
“-Screw them.” I interrupt my best friend, looking back at her. “I’m not going to let them bully me into not living my life. I want to rebuild the Air Nation and be part of its culture. If they don’t want to be part of my life when I do that, so be it. It will hurt, really hurt, but…I have accepted it.”
As soon as I finish my monologue, two big, strong arms wrap around my waist and lift me upwards. I know the all too familiar hug.
“We’re so proud of you!” Bolin exclaims, voice overly emotional.
Mako and Asami walk closer to Korra, Bolin and, I, smiles full of pride on their features.
“Good on you, Y/N.” Mako compliments.
“I’m glad you’ve made your decision.” Asami adds on.
Korra is the last one who speaks up. “We’re always going to be here for you. I will always be here for you.”
Spirits…
I feel droplets beginning to form from the kind and heart-warming reassurances.
“I know.” I finally tell them, voice watery. “I have you, guys.”
“Yeah!” Bolin agrees, now excited. “You have Team Avatar!”
Classic Bolin.
I giggle at his excitement. “Yeah, I have Team Avatar.”
We’re like that for a moment or two, basking in the warmth that is our friendship. It feels like all the problems in the world are nothing but a minor inconvenience now.
Everything will be all right.
TIME SKIP
Darkness clouds my vision as I rouse from slumber.
Great. Another restless night.
Some time passed since I told my friends of my situation with my parents. Lin managed to fully recover and even patched things up with Suyin and her niece. Opal even convinced Suyin to let her go to the Northern Air Temple to learn and train with the rest of the airbenders. We just saw her depart a few hours ago.
At least, I think it was a few hours ago. I don’t know how long I slept. Ugh.
After a few minutes, my vision adjusts to the dark room and I can see everything more clearly. For now, though, I am not interested. I continue staring at the ceiling, lying flat on my back.
The thoughts of my parents stills fill my mind.
I have made my decision to join the Air Nation. Now I just need to tell them.
Tomorrow...
Yeah, tomorrow. I might as well get it over with.
After one phone call, my old life will be over.
Despite the hurt that will come, the wonder and joy of living the life of an Air Nomad will be worth it. I know it.
Maybe, just maybe, if I allow myself to think of it and if I’m really, really lucky…that new life will have Korra as my girlfri-
“THEY’VE GOT KORRA!”
WHAT?!
Scrambling out of my room and my own room, I see Mako and Bolin already sprinting out of theirs. I follow them soon afterwards, and I see four of the strangest people I have ever seen.
A tall and powerful woman with a jet black ponytail and a tattooed third eye. A combustion bender?!
A long-haired woman with…watertendrils as arms?! WHAT?!
A scruffy-looking bearded man with a dangerous build and stance, carrying an unconscious Korra over his shoulder. That bastard!
And a bald man in robes. Wait…he looks familiar somehow…
I don’t have much time to ponder on this, however, as the four individuals unleashed a tsusnami of attacks with boulders, flames, water whips, and gusts of wind.
Wait-
Gusts of wind?! An airbender?!
Zaheer…
That airbender must be Zaheer. Lin said he got airbending now.
But still…why do I feel like I know him?!
Again, I don’t have time to analyse that question but thankfully Bolin creates an earth barrier to block the initial attack of the boulders which buys us just enough time to dodge the other incoming attacks and take cover behind one of the metal pillars.
“Sound the alarm!” I yell out to any guards in the area. “Zaheer and his friends are here!”
My yell worked as not even a second afterwards an ear-piercing screech that was the alarm fills my ears and blinding headlights appear into view and start shining towards the four individuals.
My relief is short lived, however, as mere seconds later an explosion appears out of absolutely nowhere with a force of ten mecha tanks which fling the three of us backwards! I roughly land on my back and pain fills my entire form!
Asami rushes to us with panic and worry written clear on her face.
“We can’t let them take her.” Mako groggily tell us, trying to recover from the impact of the explosion.
“I don’t think they’re going to get far.” Asami reassures us. She points towards them with urgency. “Look!”
I turn to the direction Asami pointed at and I see it.
Together with the effort of Lin, Wei, Wong, Kuvira, and the rest of the guards they are able to trap the four fugitives in a metal prison of their own making.
“We have you surrounded. It’s over.” Kuvira declares, her tone not revealing any trace of fear or nervousness. “Release the Avatar!”
I rush up to them to examine the scene. Okay, okay. Good. They can’t escape now! There’s no way they can-
-Suddenly, the grass around begins to be filled with molten rock, then filled with a hot pool of lava!
WHAT?! HOW?!
The metal panels that trapped the four fugitives succumb to the overwhelming heat of the lava and one by one they fall apart, revealing them in battle stances.
“No way! That guy is lavabending!” Bolin exclaims with complete shock. “That’s awesome…ly not good for us.”
Lavabending?! That’s a thing?!
“Save your admiration for later, Bolin.” I snap at him.
Then I see the bald man use his wooden staff attempt to create some sort of cover for him and his friends with his airbending. One of the guards notices this and exploits the temporary vulnerability by shooting out a metal cable that wraps around his arms like a snake and with considerable strength, flings him away off the platform!
That man…why is he so damn familiar? I have to know!
I run. I run despite the yells and screams of my friends. I run to where the man lands as he fights two of the guards. Much to my surprise, he seems to be taking them on effortlessly with some sort of mixture of martial arts and airbending. Who in the spirits is this guy?!
He blasts the two a good distance away and before he can press his attack, I launch my own with a powerful gust of wind! He is sent back but quickly recovers with a retaliatory swing of his staff that creates a tunnel of wind in my direction. I dodge with a roll, raise my fist and-
Freeze.
So does the man, his eyes now so wide they look like they could pop open.
That face…
I know that face…
I know those olive green eyes and those sharp eyebrows. I know that slightly cut left eyebrow which has been disconnected from one section of the eyebrow to the other.
“Yorru?!” I exclaim, my stance faltering into shakiness.
The flash of recognition in his eyes confirms my suspicions. “Y/N?!”
It is Yorru!
Yorru is the man who tried to kidnap Korra?!
Yorru is Zaheer?!
“What are you doing?!” One of the two guards yells wh are now running back. They launch their metal cables at Yor-Zaheer, but he dodges them with a quick backflip. When he lands he launches yet another air strike which hits them again. This time, however, it knocks them out cold.
And I? I just stand there during all of this, still frozen in shock of the truth.
When the guards get knocked back, though, I snap out of it.
I rush forward to Zaheer and deliver a low air swipe kick in an attempt to knock him to the ground. I know he would most likely dodge it and when he does just now I use my low position from my previous attack to roll away from his counter-attack and then flip into the air, spin as fast as I can, and launch a powerful air kick!
Only for him to dodge it!
WHAT?!
Now left vulnerable midair, Zaheer launches an upward air kick in retaliation which knocks be back to the top of one of the pillars, hitting me straight in the spine.
“AGH!”
I land with a loud THUD! I try so hard to get up but the pain on my back is too much.
However, instead of seeing him towering above me, I glance up and I see Zaheer looking back at the platform with his face full of panic.
Panic?!
I look to the source of his fear, and I see it.
Lin Beifong, Korra in her arms, holding a metal cable that is elevating her to the top of the dome, away from the other fugitives.
YES!
My relief quickly vanishes because Zaheer turns his staff into an air glider and begins advancing towards the two in the air!
NO!
Luckily, Lin dodges Zaheer’s attack and before he can launch another one Suyin appears in a metal cable of her own and sends dozens of daggers into his direction, ruining one of the wings of the glider and causing him to land back onto the glider!
Before, I can celebrate the victory, however, the entire area is filled with black smoke that clouds my eyes! When my vision recovers, they are gone!
HOW?!
Despite the frustration, though, we had a victory. We saved Korra.
KORRA!
Ignoring the excruciating torment, I am feeling, I slowly rise to my feet. Almost immediately after I get up my back engulfs into a fiery torture of suffering. “AH!”
“Y/N!” Asami yells, rushing forward to me. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine!” I snap, trying to advance forward. However, as soon as I take a step, I begin tumbling back onto the floor. Luckily, Asami catches me just in time.
“You’re not fine!” She retorts angrily. “You’re badly hurt!”
“I don’t care!” I bark back. “I need to see Korra! Is she okay?!”
“Lin and Suyin have her.” She replies. “We need to give you some medical attention.”
DAMMIT!
TIME SKIP
We are in Suyin’s office. I am sat with Mako, Bolin, and Asami on one sofa while on the sofa opposite, Korra lies still while Aiwei takes care of her. When I saw her, my heart broke again. I haven’t seen her this bad since she broke down sobbing in front of Tenzin and I during the Equalist Crisis. No, scratch that. This is worse.
“This should neutralise the shirashu toxins.” Aiwei informs Korra, handing her some sort of drink. It seems to have worked slightly, as I see her slightly moving her fingers. It ain’t much but it’s a start.
“How could you let this happen?!” Lin yells at Suyin, frustration clearly present. “You assured me this was one of the most secure places in the world.”
“It is.” Suyin counters. “I don’t know how this happened. Obviously, this was a well-planned operation, so don’t blame me.”
WHAT?! How fucking dare she!
“Take some fucking responsibility!” I loudly tell her, my rage allowing me to ignore the pain of my back. “It’s clear you have a rat within Zaofu! A rat who is very influential and knows the city inside and out like your guards! Your arrogance nearly costed Korra’s life!”
The short-lived peace we established has fallen apart as Suyin glares daggers at me. “You have no right to lecture me, Y/N! We will question them all! Whoever betrayed my city will suffer the consequences!”
I let out a sarcastic laugh. “Oh, so when outsiders make “some mistakes” you give them second chances but when someone within Zaofu makes one then they will get punished? Fucking rich!”
“Enough, Y/N!” Lin barks out, silencing me in an instant. The anger, while still present, is mixed with shame and guilt.
Dammit. I told Korra I would tolerate Suyin and I already failed…
“Everyone!”
We all turn to the voice and I see Kuvira, standing tall and proud. “We searched the entire estate. There’s no sign of them.”
DAMMIT!
“Well, keep looking!” Lin orders at the captain.
Now that the silence has filled the room, despite the intensity due to the argument between Suyin and I, my mind returns to Zaheer.
I need to tell them.
“I met Zaheer before.” I announce.
“WHAT?!” everyone shouts, absolutely shocked. Even Korra, in her paralysed state, appears shocked with her widened eyes.
“When?!” Lin demands. “When did this happen?!”
“It was just before Harmonic Convergence.” I explain, trying my hardest to recollect. “Korra, Jinora, and I meditated into the Spirit World to close the Northern and Southern Portals, but we got separated. A spirit told me to go to Wan Shi Tong’s Spirit Library for some answers. When I got lost, Zaheer approached me. He said his name was Yorru and he guided me to the library and just…disappeared.”
“Did he say anything to you?!” Lin demands, quickly processing my story and like a true Chief of Police seeks out any other relevant information. “Anything at all?”
I pinch the bridge of my nose as I concentrate to find the memories.
“I simply spend my time in this realm because it makes me feel more free than ever. Freedom is essential to one's happiness."
“I haven't been free in a long time. "What ifs" and what could have beens have been plaguing my mind for years. I'm homeless, you see? I am worthless to the eyes of corrupt leaders of the nations. But here? Here, I feel more alive than ever."
“I did. Three of them, actually. They were my best friends. One of them...she...she was the love of my life. But they're gone now."
"I, too, find the culture fascinating. I admire it. Their views on life and how the world works are truly inspiring."
“He…he talked about freedom, corrupt nation leaders, having three now gone best friends with one of them being the love of his life, and his fascination with the Air Nomads.” I slowly tell them as I begin to remember the words. “I assume the three friends he was talking about was the other fugitives present. However, he also claimed he was homeless. For all I know some of it could be bullshit.”
“It’s the best we’ve got.” The Chief tells me. “That’s more information we’ve had about him than when we interrogated him.”
“Why didn’t you tell us before?” Mako questions.
I frown. “I didn’t think it was important. How was I supposed to know he was a criminal? That doesn’t matter now, what matters is that we need to find out let them in and why.”
“And we will do just that!” Suyin exclaims. “We won’t stop until the traitor is found!”
She marches off, anger still burning within her. I frown yet again. The absolute hypocrisy of that woman drives me fucking insane!
I glance back at Korra who is still lying flat on her back and paralysed. I’ve never seen her so helpless before in my life.
My fists clench at the sight.
Zaheer will suffer for this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's it!
Did you know Yorru was Zaheer? He used that name when he infiltrated Air Temple Island in "Rebirth"
Hope you all enjoyed it!
Feedback is appreciated!
See you all in the next chapter!

Orphaning My Old Work???
Howdy everyone!
I'll keep this short, but I just wanted to hop on and let you all know that today I orphaned some of my old works on Ao3. I've been wanting to do so for over a year now and finally bit the bullet. Yes, this includes my most popular fic "Legend of Korra X Reader Oneshots" (for anyone whose request I didn't get to, I apologize. I bit off way way more than I could chew with that and have over thirty requests and a dozen half finished fics).
Why?
Well, when I started writing fanfiction for Ao3 I was 17/18 years old. I started publishing said fanfiction at 18/19/20 (19? I think?) and I am now in my mid-twenties so...I've changed. Lol. I've grown up.
When I first started writing I was immature and unexperienced with the world. I wrote for characters I never had attraction to myself (Ex. Adult! Toph, Suyin, Korra, Asami) because people asked me to, I saw those characters got hits, and I wanted to be liked online. It was hard because I didn't see them as romantic interests and I feel the writing suffered for that. Even 'I Bought A War Criminal' (another popular fic I wrote) I fell out of love with Kuvira while writing and it had a rushed ending due to that fact.
The X readers in particular had some smut chapters that explored kinks I don't have and truthfully had never even heard of until reading some other fanfictions. I won't get too personal, but, like many of us on here, I was exposed to way too much shit way too soon in my life so I found new edgy smut topics to keep me engaged. I've since dealt with some of that trauma and also experienced more IRL trauma around relationships and sexuality that make me read some stuff I wrote -- and stuff I READ while underage -- (ex. knife play, non-con, etc) and go woah hey who let me have Wattpad at 12 and what kind of effect did that shit have because--??? (I would like to say that being into certain kinks is not bad and I'm not trying to kink shame but to me I was desensitized due to exposure too young to NSFW material and due to some IRL trauma -- reading and writing that was my way to cope without actually working through any issues. An unhealthy way to cope. I didn't know healthy relationships because everyone in my life up to that point had abused me or hurt me in some way or another either intentionally or unintentionally so I figured Ao3 / Wattpad / Fanfic.net smut wasn't 'that bad'. Now, I deal with my trauma in healthier ways and realize it's just not what I'm into. A lot of it I wasn't even into when I wrote it. But I read it, so I wrote it. Even recently with Outlander I wrote wildshape smut not because I was into it but because all the other Jaheira fics had it and I figured hey it will get views. Because yes, smut gets views).
I'm just not proud of the writing quality. The first chapter of that X Reader Oneshots collection switches tenses like a million times. Who let me do that? Lol. I have a published book IRL that I'm taking down too because omg don't let 17 year olds self-publish XD
The point is, I never really wrote much of that stuff for me. I wrote it to get views. To get comments. To explore things I thought I was suppose to explore. Because no one in my real life was telling me I was good or capable. I wanted reassurance that I was writing the 'edgiest' stuff or the 'fluffiest' or the 'right characters' and the 'right stories'.
Going forward, I want to write for me. It's why I've moved fandoms because yes, I love Legend of Korra and Lin Beifong, but I'm not obsessed with it like I was. I found community in LOK and in AO3 and online in general but, after getting offline -- deleting social media -- reading things other than fanfiction -- basically, as I became less chronically online for the first time since Middle School, I realized that there's so much more out there that I enjoy. And much healthier ways to enjoy it.
I love all of the support you guys have given me and I stand by the amazing love and community I've gotten from all of my commenters and kudos-ers. But those fics just don't represent me anymore. Few of them ever represented me at all. Many were just what I thought would 'sell'.
I want to keep writing, so I will. But for the stories and characters I want to write about in ways that I actually enjoy. I want cute romances and metaphores for life. Writing smut feels like a chore most of the time so I'll probably just fade to black most of the time with a chapter or two exception. I still love fanficton -- it's an artform all its own. But yeah. Anyways, I hope my little ramble here makes sense and I hope you all get what I'm trying to say.
And if you are like past me -- having interacted with the internet and NSFW and smut since a young age and now feeling like every boundary isn't enough in fiction (*clears throat* I see you BookTok wth r those abusive ass relationships you're reading?) just know that maybe that kind of content isn't good for you and know that vanilla isn't lame. Know that you can write the stories and characters you want and that you don't have to write characters you don't want to write or situations that scare you. And you don't have to pretend not to be scared just for the sake of not kink-shaming.
Yeah. Anyway, if ya'll have any questions fell free to reach out to me! I hope you continue to like my work and if you don't, that's fine too. I hope you don't feel like I'm abandoning you. I think I'm just growing up and getting better mentally. <3
