A friend of mine (not very close, we have never met and only talked for about a year) is a wigmaker and he is really talented but lately he has been kinda passive agressive about me buying his wig. Now I am the type of person to believe that artists don't owe anyone a friendship discount and I am not looking for one. But heres the thing. His MSD wigs cost around 120$ because he uses expensive alpaca and his packaging is very detailed and such idk, not judging him for his price it is his choice, but I am personally not spending 120$ on a wig for my doll and I don't even like alpaca hair because it is so staticy.
I am someone who is pro artst and I have a few dolls that cost 600$ so I do understand that this hobby can be expensive and that is ok for me. But I still budget. I make a lot myself including faceups, accessories, eyes, props and wigs, to save money and be actively creative. But his behavior is upsetting. He always talks about how his other friends have bought his wigs before and how he is so thankful they support him and they value his work etc. and he also texts me "jokingly" when I buy wigs from different wig makers that are way cheaper about how he could've made that wig for me too, and how I betrayed him, everytime I get a wig from a different artist.

I'll be drawing all the dragons for Volume 3 of 'A Pocket Field Guide to Botanical Dragons' in August 2023, and I would thought it would be fun to give my wonderful patrons a say in which flowers/plants I create a dragon from!
Become a patron here and get your flowers/plants made into dragons!

Arlo Parks – Music Hall of Williamsburg – September 22, 2021
Two things can be true: Arlo Parks is having a(n extended) moment and Arlo Parks is exactly what we need right now. The 21-year-old London singer-songwriter and poet put out her first full-length, Collapsed in Sunbeams, back in January. “Her music is like a warm hug, a reassurance that everything is going to be OK when the world is dark and things seem out of control,” says NME in a five-star review. “True to form, her debut album is a sanctuary of compassionate lyricism and groove-along tunes.” The album hasn’t just won her praise but also plenty of awards, including Breakthrough Artst at this year’s BRIT Awards and the very prestigious Mercury Prize. And having just launched a North American tour in support of her LP, Arlo Parks welcomed the arrival of autumn and an adoring Brooklyn crowd at a sold-out Music Hall of Williamsburg on Wednesday night.

As you & other anons have said, the Larrie conspiracy theory makes no logical sense. According to them, Harry's management & label contracts (illegally) force him to remain in the closet & have fake girlfriends - even though they have, & fully support, open LGBTQ+ artsts on their rosters - but also (pay for and) allow him to send non-stop 'messages' about 'his gayness' through 'gay songs', 'gay clothing', 'gay dancing', 'gay lighting', 'gay merch', 'gay flag raising', etc. Not only does the contradictory theory make no sense, but their obsessive need to stereotype gayness, and what's masculine vs feminine, goes against everything the LGBTQ+ community has been fighting for for years. I don't know how they can say they aren't doing any damage when they're perpetuating a constrictive & dangerous mindset.

Tall Walls Wall Us
Tumblr media
Watch an excerpt from Tall Walls Wall Us (2021)  – one of the new moving image works in Pam Skelton's solo exhibition We Refuse to be Scapegoats in advance of the in-person private view on 23 June 2021 at P21 Gallery.
This excerpt features a rare recording of Louis MacNeice's own reading of Prayer Before Birth (1944). Nearly 80 years after its publication this poem by the Irish poet Louis MacNeice (1907–1963) is still recited at protests and demonstrations by peace activists and human rights supporters.
We asked Pam Skelton how she had discovered the recording of this evocative poem.
‘I discovered Prayer Before Birth in 2008 while undertaking an artist's research into the archives of the Society for Co-operation in Russian and Soviet Studies (SCRSS) in London. During one of my research visits, I came across an old vinyl record titled ‘Some Recent English Poems.’ It was produced in 1946 by the SCRSS as a gift from British poets to their Soviet counterparts featuring author's readings by John Lehmann, Edith Sitwell and Louis MacNeice. As part of my residency at the SCRSS archives, I arranged for the digitisation of the record. MacNeice's is only one of the powerful voices of artsts and activists I have included in my new moving image works We Refuse to be Scapegoats at P21 Gallery.' Pam Skelton
