Friends, can I share one of my favourite bits of 5e homebrew?

This system (specifically the concept of a depletion die) has been a FANTASTIC addition to my campaigns, as it really breaks players out of that habit of hording consumable items and never using them for fear of needing them more at some point in the nebulous future.

You know what else this system is great for? ADVENTURING SUPPLIES. Now rather than expecting my party to go shopping and fiddle with small change and encumbrance, I just say they have a group "supply die" that's split across all their packs and baggage. How large is that supply die? Tally the group's collective strength bonus and compare it to the "average remaining uses" section of the chart. How much does it cost to resupply? There's a handy-dandy "cost" chart that you can just multiply by 10.

Rather than tracking rations, we just roll the supply die once at the end of each long rest. Whenever my party needs a random doodad that they that they could've picked up in town, they can roll the supply die and take it out of their bag, after that it's added to their permanent inventory until they lose it. Beasts of burden and carts act as a separate strength tally, with a beast able to carry 2x it's base strength bonus by default, and a cart multiplying that number by 5.

i use a laptop (i used to use a secondhand thinkpad, nowadays ive been using a different type) and a good ol' wacom intuos!! nothing fancy :]

Soooooo I wrote this incredibly self-indulgent thing about Miles. I have many feelings about how he keeps himself so tightly in control. It's gotta go somewhere.

The lock clicks. He slips his suit jacket off. Loosens then removes his tie. Untucked, buttons undone. It’s all laid out on the bed. Step by step. Shoes set to the side and trousers swapped for silken pajama pants.

The bathroom door closes behind him. The second lock between him and the world. The shower comes on. Towel laid out on the counter.

His drawer, second down on the left. He pulls out the small black bag. Gold zipper. Supple leather. Inside, his collection. Three packs of new razor blades. An open pack of blades; used ones tucked into the back. A single hypodermic needle. A crafting knife. Two unopened band aids.

The rest of the drawer’s contents is ignored, antiseptic and suture kits, butterfly closures and rolls of gauze, in favor of practiced hands sliding the tin of blades from the bag and the blade from the tin.

He sits on the toilet, lid down. Elbow straight. Fist clenched. The first slice with a small inhale. Bright and sharp and stinging. Familiar and comforting. Line after line as red blooms from the wounds. The ecstasy second only to the Kiss. Rivulets follow gravity down. Strategically placed tissues catch the mess.

Stained crimson, they fall into the waste basket. He flexes his wrist, testing the pull of the broken skin, blots the last of the blood away. Blade inspected and stowed; everything returned to it’s place. Pajamas folded on top of the toilet, he steps into the shower.

A lot of these probably really need the context of the enemy-color archetypes to make sense, but this post is already long. One little hint: Red also gets Resonance creatures, but Differently.

Keyboard Rant

I'm sure no one who works in office procurement will ever see this, but STOP BUYING OFFICE SUPPLY BRANDED OFFICE SUPPLIES. I have 20$ 'gaming' keyboards that would probably still work if I threw them through a wood chipper but every single HP, dell, logitech, and other "office brand" keyboard I've ever used (with the exception of 2 specific models of microsoft keyboard) has broken at the slightest provocation. Keys stick, if you type faster than like 30 wpm the whole thing bursts into flames... it's a nightmare.

I shouldn't have to keep "replacing" work equipment with aftermarket knockoffs of aftermarket knockoffs because office purchasers are allergic to any keyboard with an actual switch.

I'm not even writing that much.. I'm a coder.. I'd hate to imagine if a work keyboard had ti survive my fic writing 'yield'

...Yes I just burned through another HP keyboard... I have to see if I still have my backup mechanical somewhere in this apartment. It has blue switches and sounds like machine gun fire but at least it f**king works.
