#this is all extremely true#but also treating different preferences as dangerous conflict#or demanding moral justifications for those preferences#or treating different interpretations as moral failings#are equally if not more obnoxious in the context of fictional characters#like the problem is not that there's a difference between sports fandom and other fandoms#it's people applying moral frameworks as a cudgel in fandom arguments in order to feel superior about their own preferences#and that is definitely not any LESS dumb when it happens in discussions of steven universe or whatever than it does in discussions of f1 lo
i agree with this basically, that this is a really insidious, frustrating, and quite prevalent element within most fandom. probably a lot of what i read as inexperience in sports fandom boils down to that sort of needless moralization in fandom spaces. i think that the people engaging in this sort of behavior are probably engaging the exact same way with traditional fiction fandom - i just also think that even a surface-level engagement with traditional partisan sports spaces does a lot to highlight how silly it is to act like this, more so than in typical fiction fandom argument (in which things like authorial intent tend to play a major role in discourse).
i should have phrased my original post better - but to be clear, i see regular fandom preferences and difference in opinion as separate from the partisan fandom of sports.
to me sports fandom is different than traditional fiction fandom. in sports fandom, partisanship is not a byproduct of natural human difference in preference and opinion, it's literally built into the way the average sports fan engages with the thing that they're a fan of.
if someone is a fan of one team, chances are they hold active dislike for other teams/athletes. there's one athlete i hate because he kind of underperformed for my team for a while and then left for a rival team. my dislike of this athlete is quite literally not any deeper than the fact that i arbitrarily chose one team to support and he no longer plays for that team and so i hope he misses every penalty he ever takes. (actually now that i think about it there are two athletes at the same club who i feel this way about). i don't think these athletes are evil because of that. i just don't want them to succeed. because i don't support their team.
to quote an important text:
Tumblr media
i struggle to think of a traditional fandom of a non-sporting/non-competitive event that would have this sort of partisanship baked-in in the same way.
my original post wasn't really about people trying to strong-arm a moral justification from someone about their team/driver allegiance - it was in response to an f1 blogger who has stated that they have a very specific, singular driver preference and gets daily anons from people who don't seem to grasp how someone can have one athlete/team to root for. to me it felt very silly because that sort of narrow focus in a sport is, like, really typical in most sporting fandom spaces??? if not the way a majority of sports fans engage with sport?? a lot of sports fans don't even interact with people who support teams aside from theirs in sport-focused spaces online much less root for other teams.
that sort of attitude, to ME, is super revealing that a lot of people here don't actually treat f1 as a sport. as i said before it's fine to be mostly interested in the rpf side of things - but i think it becomes frustrating/disruptive when they project that onto f1 bloggers who do actively partake in the partisan side of f1 fandom.
when people say that it’s obvious that a lot of f1blr have never followed a sport before, they’re not saying that it’s a BAD thing to have an entry point into sports fandom. like, it’s tumblr, a lot of people belong to communities that are marginalized in traditional sports spaces. everyone has to start somewhere. it’s also okay to mostly engage with the sport through the lens of traditional tumblr fandom. like, that’s mostly how i use this particular platform. who cares.
what is grating to ME is when people don’t see a difference between sports fandom and traditional tumblr fandom, and start treating different team/driver preferences as dangerous conflict. or start demanding moral justifications for those preferences. or treat preferences/interpretations different than their own as moral failings and not pretty basic natural outgrowths of sports fandom spaces.
that sort of behavior just demonstrates to me that the person hasn’t interacted at all with sports fandom spaces other than tumblr. sports are essentially about arbitrary conflict and tribalism yknow? nothing dangerous about that.

Big rant because making a critical account for my yapping is a stressful path I won't take, very sorry. You are brave. Feel free to delete if this is all too much, I am Literally just the frustrated yapper
Helluva has been Super Disappointing for me and as a result I've been leaning more for the critical side. Issues I have feel addressed and pointed out Sometimes in this end of the field. But I do read fans with more "positive critique" to make sure I have a full plate of Helluva Analysis.
And it's very frustrating. Which is what helluva boss encompasses tbh, being frustrating. I'm aware I'm not going to agree with every person I see, obviously. But I just can't find a positive critique that I DO even slightly agree with, and it's frustrating! I love when people enjoy things that I don't, it fills me with this joy about the beauty of people and our differences. But I also like UNDERSTANDING! And I don't! They talk about things they say are "so obviously portrayed in the story" and I don't see it!
I mostly look up Stella opinions so this is where my experience with this comes from. Opinions on her from the positive people are so inconsistent it adds to my confusion. "She has character! You need to see Stella as more than just a idiotic bitchy ex wife! She's been manipulating Octavia against Stolas! She's Mother Gothel! Her abusive character is actually well done and researched." Where are you getting that from, when has Stella ever done that, what are you talking about, It would be NICE if she was but that isn't there it's literally not there, she's mean and wants Stolas to die but then Andrealphus appears and takes care of the rest of it. Then on the opposite side of the same positive analysis:
"It's fine that Stella is a flat character! Hellooooo, Disney villains? She doesn't need to be built, it would bloat the show." It would bloat the show??? It's fine to have a FLAT supposedly Main Villain in our RICH CHARACTER DRIVEN show????? And so she IS flat, you agree she's flat??? Then it shouldn't be a problem if someone wished she was a fuller character, feels like she isn't a threat to anybody for her flatness, and that the role that should've been hers was handed off to a suddenly appearing Male Character? Who was given more personality and motive than her mind you!
"It's commentary on the society. The male character overtakes hers because she's a pawn for high society, the one that hurt her and Stolas" how did we get here, I'm positive that isn't the writer's intent what-
"Stella isn't a character she's symbolism for the cruelty of the society that forced this marriage, do you lack media literacy? This is obvious." What are ANY of you people talking about!!!!!!!
"the show isn't even over. They could build Stella next season and you're having an issue with arcs that aren't finished yet." [Blows this one up with my mind before this gets Any Longer]
What am I missing that's so obvious that everyone else is seeing?? I see wasted potential and they're telling me it's not and then explain the a made up playground game. Then when I don't get what they just drew in the sand I'M the idiot with no media literacy?? It's not even that I'm upset that "helluva boss didn't do what I personally wanted so I think it's bad.", I don't know what it IS doing to make people see it as GOOD!!!? Pulling my hair,,, frustrating. Helluva Boss and it's positive analysis or "critical crushers" is frustrating I want to understand but I don't,,aghhhh
💀 Reading this made me realize, I barely talk about Stella. Yeah Anon, Helluva Boss can be frustrating at times especially with the plot holes. I think the main problem with Stella is the lack of attention she gets in the show and we the audience don’t know much about her besides Stella throwing tea parties and being a Stolas hater. So people create head canons about her to fill in the gap.
The worst part is that the things you listed above can make Stella so much more interesting. Hopefully, Stella does something worthwhile or actually takes the lead in season 3. Because for most of Season 2, Andreaplus was doing the planning, fighting, and scheming instead of Stella, the one is affected most by Stolas.

Anon who doesn’t get why Sebastian gets lumped in with the 'asshole when you meet them' love interests: I think it’s a combo of him generally being wholly uninterested in the farmer (the “Uh… I don’t really know you”, “Um… need something?”, “What? I didn't hear you... I'm busy thinking about something. What do you want?”, etc dialogue) but also his resentment for the town itself. When you first talk to him he immediately asks “Out of all the places you could live, you chose Pelican Town?” He hates it there. He hates the town, he doesn’t care for the people beyond Sam and Abigail, he’d leave in a heartbeat if he could and he says it constantly. Which, y’know, coming from the place of the farmer, who chose to move there and loves the valley, comes across as kind of a dick move? He’s just shitting on the farmer’s life choices. To their face. It’s kind of off-putting. Can you imagine moving to a new place and your neighbor telling you they’d rather be anywhere else first-thing? It’s not as personal as Haley and Shane’s insults, but it’s also cuts way deeper than their insults, if that makes sense. He’s not even saying it to be rude but it IS super rude.
(I say this as someone who doesn’t really have strong feelings abt Sebastian either way, that’s just one way his dialogue could be interpreted)

just saw ur post but I want to stay anon hehe :). Anyways, how I see it is Will did not call or write because he thought mike didn't want to talk to him. "You made it super clear you're not interested in anything I have to say." Now people always say Mike was right in the argument where he said Will also could have reached out. I personally disagree because if Mike was constantly sending El letters, all he had to do was write something like "P.S. tell Will the phone is busy", or he could have just put two letters in the same envelope one for El one for Will. I think since he was still sending stuff to El, Will as he said in the argument, assumed Mike did not want to talk to him because in Will's eyes it would have been just as easy to send him something, but if Mike didn't see Will as worth the extra note, then Will would obviously feel rejected and feel ashamed or embarrassed trying to bother him. (Again, though this is Will's perspective as we end up hearing that it isn't true, and Mike just couldn't get through the busy phone.) I personally think Mike did not want to write to Will because it was what he was doing for El and he is scared of the romantic way he secretly sees Will, which would also make sense with the very defensive "yeah that's because she's my girlfriend Will," when Will brings up that Mike wrote El a bunch of letters and not one for him. Sorry, this is long and confusing I hope it kind of makes sense.
hi anon! i think this makes a lot of sense. mike probably sees the letters as a romantic thing and will thinks he's being rejected by not getting any. i think mike didn't tell will about the phone being busy because then will would answer and mike would have to confront his feelings. he's just trying to be a straight heterosexual dude bro. i'm not trying to blame will here, but i think if he called or wrote to mike, mike would have stopped ignoring him and written more. he just needs a little push. again, not blaming will. it's not their fault, it's the internalized homophobia. thanks for making me think because i just could not organize my thoughts about this.

This might be a bit of speculation, but do you think that Lestat also found the 20th restrictive? I feel as though his relationship with Louis brought him into a social climate that he may have otherwise ignored or avoided. I wonder if it impacted his relationship with Claudia also.
Oooo, that's a really interesting question, anon. My inclination is yes, he would've? Especially given he's already run through a few chapters of history and been living apart from human society in a way that Louis doesn't really make the active choice to do until he decides to turn away from Morgan and Amelia at the Romanian shelter in 2.01.
Depending on how they decide to adapt this part of TVL though, Lestat does go to America to make a connection and live a human lifetime that he never got to as a mortal. That's what Marius wanted him to do, so I think there probably is - to an extent - a broad embrace of this society that Louis' a part of that goes with that. He's getting to share this new mortal lifetime with a man who he loves, and I think he probably figures that they'll live that and then move on from it and it'll be this thing that they both look back on with nostalgia at some point. In some ways, Lestat's arrived in 1910 New Orleans basically to play house, which I think fundamentally contributes to this disconnect between him and Louis, because Louis' not playing - this is still his life - and Lestat's all in, of course he's all in, but he's already left this equivalently formative part of his human reality behind him.
In that sense, I don't think Lestat is ever fully aware of the toll of the era on Louis or on Claudia, and while I think he probably feels some degree of restriction, he's also got far greater freedoms broadly by being white, wealthy, and able to pass as straight when he's with Antoinette. It's a very, very different type of freedom though from the one he had in Paris with Nicki, and the one he had while travelling with Gabrielle though, and I do think we see that he chafes with certain things. Like I think he does feel restricted that he and Louis can't be together publicly, for instance, because we see the catharsis of it for both of them when they kiss on the dance floor at the Mardi Gras Ball, and I actually think he struggles sometimes with them being so anchored to New Orleans, even though he's in love with that city. He tries to get them to travel a couple of times, after all, and Louis' refusal to do so as he's still so tethered there to his mortal life, I think probably did feel restrictive in its own way.
And yeah, with Claudia, I think the social climate there probably affected him a lot because it really compounds the othering within their family unit. Louis gets to be Daddy Lou, he and Claudia get to share a vampiric language in telepathy, but they also inherently share a human one too by both being Black. They experience the world differently still by nature of Claudia being a little girl and Louis being an adult man, and that results in very different levels of social power in the 1910s-through-1940 (hell, still does today), but they have more crossover than they don't.
If Louis' the father, if he's Daddy Lou, Lestat can't publicly be anything other than Uncle Les. Gay marriage was illegal, gosh, interracial marriage was illegal, and transracial adoption was extremely controversial, so in this sense, I think the social climate that they're in absolutely has a huge impact on that relationship. It's particularly interesting - and potentially even more poignant - when you consider again the fact that Lestat's technically the birthing parent given he turned her. Those social restrictions of the era means that only one of them was ever going to be able to live openly as her parent, and that was never going to be Lestat.

not to mention the entire antaam fleet like 😭 that was the PERFECT moment to show off what the lords could do!!! The antaam fucked over rivain, theyve been a thorn in the whole nations side for a long time now, they would not pass up a chance for payback via full scale naval warfare so that the veilguard can do what they need to!! Sure dreadnoughts are dangerous but at this point they probably have tricks up their sleeve, thats one of the few things they have!
also wouldn't it be personal because does solas not try to blow up kont-aar because he's trying to 5d chess tevinter and the qunari into destroying each other. like. i know technically this would not be incredible widespread news because the attack was stopped, but i don't think the wonderful citizens of kont-aar would have missed the tsunami that nearly hit them and the shockwave that actually hit them. rumors go around. and i assume irian/vadis tell varric. who i think would tell isabela. who would tell the group she leads. who would care because ofc, they LIVE IN RIVAIN, and now know that solas and his followers thinks they can trade rivaini lives* to further his plans.
*while i also think there's probably a divide between kont-aar and the rest of the nation, it's one that the rivaini love to jump across and back over. an interesting comparison to be made here with most of rivain having similar sentiments towards dairsmuid and the chantry. like this is the country specifically mentioned to have a lot of citizens who follow the qun/are non-andrastian + it being MUCH more multicultural and accepting than other nations. any attack on rivain, even if it's a qunari settlement, would fan a lot of flames that solas cannot put out so the idea of trying to him taking multiple steps back because he didn't realise how intensely the qun/rivaini/lords would react is very fun for me. it would have been soo interesting for rivain to be a hub for efforts against solas because of how it's not influenced by andrastianism, how he (or his agents) specifically fucked them over, and (maddeningly for solas) also part of this resistance has spirits who willingly guide them against him. this could have even been a plot device where the door goes both ways and solas finds out rook's plans because he manages to eavesdrop through a seer or something.
and on the spirits. all the stuff where the mourn watch regularly communicates with spirits could have been done with rivain as well, and with different takes on being 'friendly' with spirits. iirc there's a spirit in the hall of valor which is so interesting but it's literally just there for flavour text. THERE'S A SPIRIT IN THE HALL OF VALOR THAT DOES NOTHING BESIDES LIKE. SAY HI. ??? bioware i would have liked to see more spirits and seers and the matriarchal pantheists you have talked about please. and also the idea of the peaceful qunari settlement being pushed to protect the country they are part of and what that means for them as qunari vs. rivaini. taash's storyline could have contributed to this . so A LOT less about choosing a side, more about how kont-aar has developed, changed, how rivain has influenced it and what it means to be qunari. not the qunari agents and fighters that we have seen, but their 'civillian' way of life in kont-aar.
complete waste not seeing any of established lore reflected in the lords of fortune or rivain because i stupidly actually thought we were going to see some kind of settlement and be introduced to a very different cultural norms.. in my beautiful mind i like to think taash is a little taken aback by how badly mages/elves/etc are treated. like they understood it was different outside of rivain (they would have been young when the dairsmuid circle annulment happened right? so they don't 'remember' it themself, they likely heard others talking about it when they're old enough to understand) but until they actually saw what was happening first hand, they had a weird dissonance about it. but what we got was a deserted beach, ties to another faction (wardens are fine!! they are great !!!! the fourth blight is interesting!!!! yet they are not the faction with a lack of info about them!!!!!) and also the hall of valor that exists as flavor text with nothing meaningful behind it besides a pub used in a few cutscenes and a minigame.
#it's just hard to discuss the qunari in general when it is so obviously written to be quote unquote bad#and theyre like. in veilguard. really just reduced to being an invading force. which they were before. but there's literally nothing else#not a single character that explains more about the qun or how it operates + the game presenting choices about taash#that obviously lean towards favoring rivain. god knows why. its not like we know enough about it to choose it#even a quick peek into a rivaini lifestyle would have been helpful. all we know are from lorebooks !!!!#its actually like. 'qun would have made taash into a weapon/they are actively invading treviso/theyre working w ghil+el/shathaan' etc#and then on rivain's side the points are just 'umm. well the lords are super nice. and love freedom... and its also NOT qunari!'#there ARE reasons to pick rivain just none of them are in the fuck ass game. no one who doesnt read the books would know this shit#does anyone know why the antaam are acting outside of their orders. i dont rmb if this was explained or if its supposed to be like#a very severe response to solas and defying orders to 'deal' with a threat?#but god. kont-aar as it exists is so interesting. maybe elements of like .#'the main qun ignore the changes in kont-aar/rivain because it's such an important part of their trade' situation. idk#i just cant see a lot of the extremely rigid qun followings actually meshing with this extremely 'accepting' culture that is in rivain#eg. rivaini seers allowing possessions vs. sareebas#but its said that the rivaini pantheists actually have lots in common with the teachings of the qun (?)#and again. its peaceful. most of the issues that are mentioned in games/etc are to do with the ORLESIAN chantry causing issues in rivain#so it just. makes me think. maybe things have changed and there's a blind eye to whatever happens in kont-aar#or if there are more hostilities or issues caused by their differing beliefs then it would be good to fucking like. hear about it#plus the qun in general is just. worldbuilding standpoint is like. what. im not a guy who knows too much about this part of da lore so#i had to fact check a few things while writing this response and some of the answers were like#just so unbelievable that im choosing to do whatever i want#anyways. sorry. got out of hand. let me know if anything i said isnt true#its entirely possible. my knowledge of rivain is patchwork but this is probably to do with the fact there's not a lot. yeah#god. i have to stop talking now. thank u anon for agreeing w me. sorry u asked me about the lords and i took it as an excuse#to air out my issues w rivain. because tyche was partially built up around that and then none of it even mattered#veilguard spoilers#answered#rivain

why do you hate Joshua Graham or Honest Hearts so much?
This DLC and character represents a bigger issue with fandom spaces I have but particularly fallout fandom in general.
Fallout tends to tackle a lot of topics controversial and not. The first two games it’s heavy cause they are the most satirical and direct with how anti-war, nationalism and etc… they are. 3 loses this as it’s very clear once you play or learn about all the games that Todd and a bunch of guys at Bethesda just liked the 50s post apocalyptic aesthetic and refuse to actually critique the ideals of the time period like the earlier titles.
New Vegas is the game that really gets back into it a degree it almost seems like it’s taking too much on. There are things done exceedingly well while other things are done horribly wrong . I’ve made posts about it before and plan to make a big series of posts (it’s a lot of writing) but my biggest gripe is with Honest Hearts and all the gross and white savior esque depictions it has of indigenous peoples. The entirety if FNV does not do the injustices faced by indigenous people correctly on any count. My two biggest complaints are with the Khans and the tribes in Zion but I’ll talk about the former on a different post.
Both characters of Daniel and Joshua are the most accurate depiction of white saviors I’ve seen and I hate how the DLC tries to justify and defend them. The DLC treats Joshua like this man who has repented for his past actions when he is just retracing his steps after his cruelty bit him in the ass. He was one of the worst parts of the Legion and it is all but explicitly stated that if you don’t force him to be non-violent he will turn the tribes of Zion into the legion 2.0. The Dead Horses and the Sorrows are horribly infantilized by both Daniel and Joshua who both use them for self serving purposes guised by religious duty. The White Legs are the horrible stereotype of violent and savage indigenous and I personally think a lot of their interlinking with Ulysses, his hair and Ulysses character in general are distasteful and very telling of how BIPOC or POC where involved.
But outside of the game it’s the weird obsession people have with these characters ideologies and trying to make them seem more interesting/philosophical than they are. Tumblr is an echo chamber and many fans of Fallout are not the people on this site. Many people are not educated in the issues these characters convey and how poorly they do or used these characters as a poor introduction for their takes. Contrary to what a lot of people believe in, fallout has a prediomeny white cis male fanbase. More importantly a large portion of the fanbase is white.
You can joke how FNV made you trans or see the numbers on post/fics or diverse headcanons but these are kiddy numbers compared to the millions that consume the franchise and aren’t in those more aware spaces or don’t engage in the spaces the same way someone like me does/has to. Their views shape a lot more than people realize and it’s exhausting to be in a space where people don’t correct the more subtle yet toxic aspects of it but also adopt them into some weird quirky view point on the characters or issues. Some people don’t realize and some people don’t care.
My main issue is just the idolizing of these sort of thing in this fandom space and people try to acts like a game like fallout whose tagline is “War never changes” and has never had a game not revolve around political or militaristic factions issues isn’t that deep or doesn’t relate to real issues. I think it’s mainly caused by how over powered you can become and how you can strong arm your way past these learning moments as majority of people who play this game do play it as a power fantasy where they can do so as they please (which of course, go ahead it’s fun) but never take in parallels or lessons in the story as if it was just another first person shooter.
Also like another personal gripe is Cazadores spawn like hell whenever I’m there and I have not found a mod that works to mod them out so I have to play Indigenous Racism the DLC while getting jumped by giant wasps WHILE helping Mormons. Like I cannot catch a break.
#I’m mostly silly or character headcanon focused on this blog#but sometimes I forget some people literally have never interacted with someone slightly outside of their ideologies or don’t learn about#philosophies that don’t pertain to their view point and actively block them out#and so I have like a meltdown and occasionally post about it cause like I see more people hate Danse for regurgitating BoS teachings than#hate Joshua Graham who helped found the legion participated in their practices and still has this weird bloodlust#like make it make sense why do you like this white man genuinly like outside of his aesthetic#I can say silly shit about them hit it’s always I think it’s surreal they even exist while others genuinely wish they did so they could fix#them and some of all don’t realize how quickly jokes lead people down rabbit holes and pipe lines cause ur not gonna see posts even pitying#that man in here#like when I defend Danse it is through the signs and events in game that show he is not stuck in his ways and possibly only adopted those#beliefs because of his tramatic events with super mutants and the bos being very anti anything not human#their are affinity reaction that concern this while Joshua like moans yes when killing the white legs and is always polishing his gun goon#pile like I’ve learned too much about him the Mormon faith and that dlc to be told I’m playing favorites he is not fixable or repentent#this fandom has one of the worst issues of he’s my fave so he can’t do wrong when some of this characters are literal unapologetic rapist#racists or individuals who condone or perpetuate like ideas and concepts like obviously I’m gonna not like them????!#like I still think it’s interest to dissect them and I try so hard to not be a hypocrite but sometimes it’s like the whole this is just a#fun thing for you but like be aware of what you are taking in and reflect like is so important fiction can slowly seep into your morals#I’m rambling and losing track of shit so imma stop here before I reach the tag limit but again dm and ask cause this is the stuff I will#blab about#horrible at normal conversation tho#fallout#fallout new vegas#joshua graham#honest hearts#ask#anon#fallout 3

Hi! I've read a handful of your blogs here and I wanted to say I really like them. Even though I haven't seen for myself any of the shows/movies/etc you've talked about, I love how passionate you are, especially about the things you love.
Which brings me to Kill la Kill - my only experience with that anime is literally a couple of clips I watched when I was a teenager, and forgot about a couple of weeks later. Now I (sort of) know the gist of the overall plot by reading about it. But having read several of your essays on it, how invested you are kinda rubs off on me despite not having actually watched the show XD - like, I can feel how much you love these characters.
With that off my chest, I had a question in mind regarding the ending. Again, I don't know every little detail about the story as a whole, but I know that Honnōji Academy is destroyed at the end.
But do you think it would have been cool if the academy was reformed rather than destroyed?
I mean, Satsuki ran the place with an iron fist, and if she reformed, I don't see why the academy couldn't. Imagine Honnōji being a place that ran on cooperation and nurturing of each other's strengths rather than ruthlessness.
Think that's a good idea, or do you think it wouldn't work?
Tumblr media
Oh my gosh?? I'm absolutely blown away that my writing can capture interest even without knowledge of the media (and am so curious about how you found me!). Thank you so much.
As to your question: hmm! That's a really good one that I've been pondering for a while (my apologies for the very belated response). One question that comes to mind in response is what a school (or any place) truly is. Is it the location? The building? The people?
If it's the people who made Honnouji Academy what it is, then Satsuki reforming is, in essence, the place reforming. The physical building isn't what made the school what it is.
But I think there's meaning in the inanimate. I'm reminded of an episode of Batman Beyond, "Shriek," where Bruce fights to keep the place where his parents died preserved. Terry wonders why—wouldn't it be best to tear it down? To forget the awful memory? But Bruce throws back at him, "Do you want to forget what happened to your father?"
In Batman Beyond, Crime Alley is left in tatters. It's abandoned, it hasn't been refurbished, and Bruce actively doesn't want it to be. There's meaning in leaving it as it is; it's a reminder of why Bruce became Batman and why the work he does is important.
Perhaps similarly, Honnouji Academy itself doesn't totally disappear. It sinks to the bottom of Tokyo Bay and becomes less immediately visible, but it still exists, and nothing is rebuilt on top of it. The memory of what Satsuki had done, and what she must never become again, lies just beneath the surface. And, because it's just beneath the surface, no one is going to try to make it into something new like the attempts with Crime Alley.
That said. I can also see worth in making a place once known for causing harm into a place that fosters love. Things can change without forgetting and disrespecting what came before.
But maybe there's a "line"? And I could see Honnouji Academy as crossing that line, where keeping it and trying to transform it does a disservice to the atrocities that occurred there, and that's why it ultimately sinks.

I see it now! I was literally reading and listening about their relationship in your podcast! i really thought that Statice and Nick DESPISE eachother. This AU is interesting, I love it vry vry much. Im not fond of it at first because I can't really Imagine Basil. Basil doing all of that stuff. because he's my favorite character(and I can't really see him being like that). But I eventually learnt to separate them and sees Nick as his own character. Like an actual oc(Still sees him a little bit as Basil if you understand what I mean)( can't wait when Sunny's other friend gets revealed or maybe the parents. *Maybe* they're not that important to the story but the CURIOSITY IS TOO STRONG AND SORRY FOR YAPPING HSJSKAK IT MUST BE TIRING TO ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS I WON'T DO THAT AGAIN)(Also excuse my grammar also, english is not my first language 😣)
-Anon from the previous previous post.
(the aura I felt after asking that is unimaginable. I used to be so shy to ask anything on people's blog so Im a *bit* proud of my confidence!)
Oh I see !!
Yeah Nick is... more or less an OC, he's got very little to do with Basil now. I refuse to cut of all ties to OMORI/Basil because it's very important to his origins and taking that from him would be taking out a lot of how I personally see him, but, well... He wasn't exactly based off of normal in-game Basil, either, so it makes sense that he's very different. He looks different, acts different, has a different family, age, personality, story, nationality even, different interests... He's like, 70% OC and 30% OMORI AU. Basil is also my favorite character, and that's not how I see him at all either.
I understand why you thought Statice and Nick hated each other — to be fair, there aren't a lot of people who don't hate Nick, lol. Being around him and knowing why he is the way he is makes it easier to love him, though.
#also no parents are important to the story — in nick and statice's case their abscence is what counts even#so i dont think they'll ever even get introduced#i'll do something about the third friend eventually when i'm motivated enough but tbh--#--that plotline is one of the earliest things i worked out about the AU back when it was really just an outlet for venting#so it's not very detailed. i have a very good idea of the events but. yeah since it was for vent purposes and im better now--#--i guess i dont. really want to think about it anymore. lots of things have changed in my brain since november...#i like playing with arsenic and sunny like dolls. it's less about having a concrete storyline and more about playing around with dynamics.#i've always been a slice-of-life person and this is no exception... i'd rather just take snippets of their lives to think about#i like the more mundane aspects. i like putting them in different circumstances and seeing how they'd act#but i'm not super interested in making this a very structured thing with a beginning then story then ending#this au is very personal to me so i guess i like thinking about it and explaining things about it more than i like. making Content for it#there's a difference between Content im giving people and what i do with that AU. so it doesnt end up looking very logical or structured#and it's hard to understand some things if you're from the outside looking in (like statice and nick's relationship for instance)#most of the characterization and info is hidden away in discord chats. sorry everyone#btw ! PLEASE dont be afraid to send more asks i LOVE getting asks like you wouldnt believe#you're not annoying for asking about things i promise !!!!#i love talking about them ! so much !!!#if someone gives me an occasion to talk about them i will NEVER SHUT UP (as im sure you've come to realize by now)#i love asks !!!!!#arsenic#rant#ask#anon

Hi, I started watching f2 this year and I had question if you can answer: why do some of Franco's fans hate on drivers like Paul?
hmmmm im not sure if im the right person to ask, but i think it's because fans from certain countries (such as argentina) are very very passionate about their drivers? so when they have a driver such as franco who's doing well and driving in f2, they're extremely supportive when he does well, but they also get quite protective when things go wrong. if you check out the f2 ig comment section of posts where franco has scored points, there will be tons of argentinian comments cheering him on, which is lovely and im sure franco is very thankful for their support!! but then in cases such as when paul was upset about franco's overtake during the last lap of imola, they get defensive instead 🤷‍♀️

please do keep developing ur alien biology a/b/o stuff i live for that kind of thing. genuinely so much fun to read about the specific details of omegaverse universes and that kind of thing, id read the fic ur writing for that factor alone lmao
ASDFGHJKL THANKS but i think the funniest part of all this is i genuinely don't know how much of what i'm figuring out here is gonna end up in my final fic. i think i just need to know the mechanics of things for my own sanity.
anyway. my current idea (tho this may change) is that the galra have two sexes: alpha and omega, with beta essentially being a colloquial term for sterile alphas. as previously mentioned, omegas are a transgressive phenotype only possible through hybridogenesis. when breeding with non-galra, both alpha and omega offspring are possible, but similarly to how only female ligers/tigons are fertile, only omegas are capable of reproducing. here's a handy diagram, with 'x' representing non-galra species:

jason kim your ex is on tumblr now https://www.tumblr.com/thesushiguyy
Who...?
Tumblr media
Oh. The guy from Ushi Bar, right.
We never really dated? He did help me move my stuff to Hollie's place though- that was... nice of him.
#ooc: current blog canon has decanonized him and kim as an item! unless they want to interact w me and have an ideas on how I can Fix That#ooc: it was more convenient for doing the hollie interactions. the way im currently imagining things is that Kim's beef with Hollie is less#+ a legitimate backstabbing/betrayal and more Kim being put off/a little jealous of the fact that people who expressed an interest in her +#+continually will also go for Hollie and will actually pursue her more actively than they would Kim#ooc: so like. if i was leaning more on SPTO canon. stuff like roxie's comment after their kiss would probably have made her a Mega Bitch +#+ to Hollie the next time she saw her despite them not interacting. does this make sense?#ooc: anyhow at a glance it looked like they were running some jason/ken bit currently#ooc: so yeah. the way ive been thinking about it so far Kim just knows Jason as a guy who expressed an interest in her when she'd show up +#+to get something on lunch break- which she was considering seriously... until she brought Hollie along one day and saw how he was ogling +#+her by comparison. Kim was upset but less about Jason himself and more just “what the hell am I? dirt?”#ooc: i am super open to reworking this since im not 100% happy with it but it's just. the way things work best I guess with the Kimona stuf#ooc: ALSO. I have her call it the Ushi Bar because the S is always out. she refuses to call it Sushi Bar again until they fix it.#pine.txt#asks#anon#rp#kim pine#sp comic#spvtwtg#spto#spvtw#(now to go reblog their intro I suppose!)#(ooc: also. processing that you d i d give me the opportunity to put this in separate continuity... but since this is their first mention +#(+ here and this change is relatively recent for blog canon I don't want to confuse anyone)#((ooc: ALSO... he IS brought up for the first time just after the Knives kiss right? man was a shield. that's my thoughts on that.))#thesushiguyy#jason kim#((ooc: also that jealousy thing WOULD effect more than just Hollie. it's just that it happens more frequently with her than anyone else))#?#(unsure if i may change the formatting for this to make it roadtrip compliant)

omg everything you said i have so much i wanna say but i dont wanna talk your ear off but i GOTTA say about naoya.. crazy that i didnt find him REMOTELY attractive until i found out he's 27, i dont know WHY but my brain was like that is such a sexy age??? i didnt know he was your favourite though that's an interesting choice hehe what do u like about him!!
LMAO REALLY????? oh my gosh no i can’t relate, i was instantly drooling all over myself the moment i saw him <333 i really love his character design in general, his hair n his piercings make him exceptionally physically attractive to me HAHA but on the character side, he’s just such an absolute piece of shit. like downright fucking awful with his extreme narcissism and misogyny and murderous tendencies <3 i love how he’s the bratty baby of his family, spoiled as fuck and arrogant because of it, and also like fairly pathetic, all things considered. he pretty much contains all of the red flags i love in fictional men, so idk i don’t think it’s super surprising that he’s my favourite HAHA. i also love that he gets the death he fucking deserves, it’s SO satisfying. and then, of course, i love love love heavily dysfunctional families, and the zenin clan is nothing if not HEAVILY DYSFUNCTIONAL hahaha <3 so that element adds to it as well!

tangentially related to the topic, while not tagged, denouncing the desert also has bounty hunter/jester and since the main couple is shieldbreaker/antiquarian i feel like i hit that one fanfic jackpot everyone has at some point in their lives, the "fanfic not written by me yet specifically tailored to my tastes". its great. its fun and im having fun if you even care btw (<- not meant to antagonize just something ive been saying often)

Not everything needs a meaning There's a reason for the existence of the term idling, while I prefer getting stuff done recreational breaks are important, and I wouldn't say we have been arguing now have we? More of a civil discussion.
I'm called on-your-side anon or Oys for short btw nice to formally meet you,l I'm the one sending those lengthy/ier asks.
as for this place since its a multiverse there is an abundance of info, be it alters of yourself or people you know or entirely new ones, that you can use if you are willing, sure takes a while to get to that info but I believe it's rather gratifying to find what others do wrong and process this info as so to not do the same. There's a lot to be learned here if you are willing
//I'll definitely check them out if they pop up again thanks I love collecting new blogs.
Also for you tell me one thing about your version of the siblings you added to them, or in Russet's case created, that you absolutely adore.
Also I'm sorry I keep writing Russet's name differently every ask, I kinda use the qwerty and the qwertz layout, and multiple language packs on my phone so autocorrect fuddles Sometimes and I don't notice
... I guess. I just prefer to stay busy - there's always something that needs to be done in the club, or I could be training...
Oys. It's... You aren't awful, at least. You seem sensible. I can appreciate that.
... I guess I can see the merits of that. Information is a form of power, of strength. ... Though I doubt most are as sensible as you seem to be, from what I've experienced here.
#pkmn irl#kieran takeover#kieran replies#russet's kitakami trip#//yeee no problem! i love promoing my friends :D#//ooh there's so much. i think my favorite thing to add was each of these characters have a small percentage of pokemon blood -#//specifically they have dragon blood! we have kieran with hydreigon. carmine with garchomp. and russet with noivern!#//it adds another layer of nuance and complexity to their actions that i like to manage on top of everything that's wrong in the family#//for example why this kieran is so prone to lashing out AND why he's so wary about the idea of forgiveness. part of it is instincts!!#//plus with the siblings in general i'm really delving into what things were like for them in kitakami which is SUPER fun#//as for my favorite thing about russet... oh that's a hard one.#//i think. his worldview is really interesting. he doesn't like to lie but also ends up lying to himself a lot. saying he's fine with thing#//-when he really isn't fine with them. reducing himself to a background character in his own life.#//russet is JUST as mentally ill as its siblings it is simply in a less obvious way. imploding instead of exploding.#//because of that he's flown under the radar and really hasn't gotten the help he needs. he's been the family therapist for his whole life.#//also no worries! i get it. i spelled ninetales wrong for like. i think almost a month before i realized. i'm not stressed about typos#//especially since i can tell what the meaning was#oys anon

Can we keep using “deny defend depose” as much as possible bc frankly I think that’s one of the hardest lines the assassin could have used. Elon posts on Twitter? Replies flooded with triple d. I think it should be everywhere. They’re scared. Keep it that way.
DENY DEFEND DEPOSE
