once again with the whole excitement about sunrise on the reaping and who will play haymitch, please keep two things in mind!

1) he's sixteen, so someone decently young would be playing him, not one of your favs or a guy older than that (that shouldn't be the case anyway but it wouldn't surprise me nevertheless)

2) his movie adaptation (played by woody harrelson) is NOT how he looks in the books. he has olive skin, grey eyes and dark curly hair. so while you'd expect that they'd cast someone who looks similar to woody, it would be inaccurate to the books. yeah! a change in appearance would be weird when they had his actor look a certain way for 4 movies, but then again, haymitch isn't white. he isn't blonde and blue eyed and he should've been played by someone who was accurate to his actual description. and again, he SHOULD be played by someone who is accurate to his actual description if he does have any apperances in sotr.

Im sure we’ve all seen the TikToks comparing Hunter Shaffer and Emma D’Arcy and I do agree that they have similar appearances. Not only that, but I find that Emma is a good mix of both actresses and would be a good bridge between ages. Not to mention they have proven themselves to be a phenomenal actor and definitely capable of taking on the complex character that is Tigris. Also imagine them with tiger strip tattoos, like Tigris hasn’t gone full tiger yet and is transitioning into that full feline appearance.

As for Ewan Mitchel as Coriolanus Snow I’ve stated before that Coriolanus gets plastic surgery and it’s implied a facelift by the way Katniss states his skin appears to be “too tight”. No hate to our baby but with a bit of makeup I could see it giving him a more pulled back appearance of the face, magic after all can do wonders in the hands of the right artist. I’d also think he got the surgery to appear younger and also to participate in the new process of transformation the Capitol had taken on for itself.

And as for them both working together on House of the Dragon right now, plenty of actors work together more than once. Not to mention I also don’t really think they’re seeing each other much besides at Premiers and interviews as I’m pretty sure they film at different locations and as far as I know they don’t have any scenes together this season.

i've only seen one article on this casting, but how are so many people thinking they'll age tom blyth by 40 years when kiefer sutherland is right there? like, they would be almost the same age and motherfucker is basically a carbon copy of his dad.

Can I rant about this article for an hour? TLDR, they want Tom Glynn-Carney, who is currently playing King Aegon II on House of the Dragon to play young Haymitch calling it "too perfect."

In fact, I have seen interviewers ask Glynn-Carney about this directly which is insane to me that more than one person thought this.

First of all, Glynn-Carney (though a great actor, and is giving a surprisingly nuanced portrayal of Aegon who is fairly flat in the book) is currently 29 years old. He'll be in his 30s when this films. Objectively he is too old to play a teeanged Haymitch in a movie that won't come out for several more years.

We are looking for someone who is around 16-18 now, I would say. Who will be early 20s during filming. (Rachel Zegler is 23 now, for example but the movie was filmed two years ago.)

Secondly, he doesn't look much like Woody Harrelson to me, and he especially doesn't look like Haymitch as described in the books.

Why are people pushing this? I don't get it.

If we have to cast a House of the Dragon actor Harry Collett is right there. He's got a long face like Harrelson, but also has dark hair which is important to me personally. (Although wouldn't it be CRAZY if we actually cast someone indigenous?!?)

Lulu Wilson could also be Maysilee Donner. ("The Wrath of Becky" is an indie film about a teenage girl who kills a bunch of neo-Nazis that stole her dog. And finding someone who can do stunts is important!)

If Mrs. Everdeen makes an appearance in Sunrise on the Reaping I would definitely want to see her Played by Emily Rudd:

I just think she has that appearance of a girl from the less poor Merchant district and she shares a similar appearance to a young Primrose Everdeen played by Willow Shields:

The rare fairer skin, and the combination of blonde hair and blue eyes. And she was described as being pretty, just being beat down by age and loss. She’d be 17 and in my opinion I think she’d be able to pass as 17, I’ve also seen a few of her pieces and she’s not a bad actress either, demonstrating an ability to show a range of emotions.

What do you think her name is? Do you think we’ll get a name for her, or even meet her? Or will it just be a small reference that we are able to work out that it is her?🤔 I would hope we would get at least one or two small scenes with her as she was friends with one of the girls reaped that year, Maysilee Donner. It’d be nice to see their goodbye and then Haymitch talking to her after the games and perhaps apologizing or something. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see🤞

Sunrise on the Reaping Casting-90s edition

Realizing that even if the movie doesn't do it, SOTR should be styled in the 90s, I thought it'd be fun to fancast SOTR if it had been filmed in the 90s. For our District 12 alliance, we have:

Dante Basco as Haymitch Abernathy. Not gonna lie, the options for Haymitch and other Seam are limited in the 90s from actors I'm aware of, but he acted across from Robin Williams so he had the skill alongside his physical features (that is a face Katniss would admit was a "looker"). The legend herself Brittany Murphy as Maysilee Donner/Maysilee's twin. Brittany would have had to have dyed her hair blonde, but her range as an actor, even while young, makes her prime material for the Donner twins.

I could have retroactively cast Donald Sutherland again, but for fun, we have Jon Voight playing middle-aged President Snow. Mostly because he looks like what I imagine President Snow looks like. For our District 1 girl that Haymitch has her final battle with, is the OG Buffy Summers, Kristy Swanson. Look at that and tell me she isn't District 1. I want SOTR District 1 girl in ALL of the bright 90s neon!

Last, while we don't know if they'll be in SOTR my hope is we get at least a hint of their love story, so I have Claire Danes as (future) Mrs. Everdeen and Mike Vitar as Mr. Everdeen. Claire Danes needs no explanation, though I think she has a very classic sort of beauty and presence, a certain calmness with romanticism, that I see a young Mrs. Everdeen having. And Mike Vitar I cast because as a kid I thought he was cute. 🤭
