If Ace were to find a partner, he couldn’t get anyone better than you. You were his closest friend before you both became aware of your deep romantic feelings for the other and both confessed, allowing things to effortlessly progress into a romantic relationship. With you Ace knows he is safe and free to be himself, just as you can be yourself without judgement. Because you were both friends before becoming a couple, you both are content to spend time together while also being apart. You both can spend an evening in a bar with the other Whitebeard Pirates and hardly say a word to each other until its time for you both to return to the ship. Because of the fact neither of you cling to the other for the entirety of the night, it can lead to some misconceptions about the relationship you both have to an outsider.

One evening you returned to the Moby Dick after being sent out on a solo mission by Pops. As usual the deck was lively and filled with laughter and chatter. You noticed some new faces to the crew, making a note to properly introduce yourself to the new recruits after you spoke to Pops. On your approach you slowed to see one recruit standing very close to Ace, who merely smiled at them with his usual friendly smile. While he couldn’t see the lust in his admirer’s eyes you could see it clearly. “So you’re my commander? I’m so lucky to be under someone as handsome as you.” She smirked and Ace laughed, while you rolled your eyes, continuing to walk forward. 

Marco spotted your approach first and called out your name in greeting. Immediately Ace looked over excitedly only for his smile to drop when he spotted the look in your gaze. Normally you were as excited as he was when you were reunited but now you seemed almost disappointed. Worry flipped in his stomach and he reached out towards you but instinctively you pulled your arm away and continued to walk. “I have to talk to Pops first. I’ll catch up with you after.”

“Looks like someone’s in the doghouse.” Izou teased when he knew you were out of earshot. 

“Can you blame them? They go for a couple weeks and come back to Ace flirting with another person.” Marco chimed in with a feigned look of disapproval while Ace became panicked and looked between his fellow Division Commanders. Did you really think that? Was he really in trouble? Worse still, was his relationship with you at risk because he hadn’t realised one of the recruits was flirting with him again?

Acting on impulse he immediately raced up the deck and slid to a halt beside you, hooking an arm around your waist and hauling you off of your feet. “Sorry, Pops! Emergency!” he called out over your shouts, ignoring them and the whooping cheers as he carried you below deck to your shared room to speak in private. When you were set on your feet you lightly shoved Ace. “What the hell did you do that for?” You demanded only to blink in surprise when Ace threw himself onto his knees and wrapped his arms around your waist, staring up at you in desperation. “Please don’t end things with me! I promise you’re the only one I want, I’d never throw what we have away. I swear I didn’t flirt back. I’d never-” 

“I know Ace.” You stopped his rambling with a small smile and lightly setting your hand on his cheek. “You never realise when anyone flirts with you. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen someone throw themselves at you.”

“But that look on your face…and Izou and Marco said I was in the doghouse…”

“Yeah I don’t like seeing someone flirt with you but I know you’re loyal to me.” You shrugged. “As for those two, they’re just bored. I wasn’t going to get mad at you for not realising someone wanted to get with you. I trust you Ace.”

“If you were mad at me though…”

“I’d tell you.” You promised before pinching his cheek and scowling. “For example, I’m not happy you dragged me away while I was in the middle of talking to Pops. But I’ll forgive you just this once because of how worried you were.” You smiled to see the relief in Ace’s eyes and suddenly became aware of the strain in your neck. “Now would you please get up and welcome me home properly?” With a grin, Ace adjusted his hold on you and quickly pulled you down to instead settle on his lap so he could lovingly pepper your face with kissed before finally kissing you with all the love he could convey. Despite you promising you were fine he needed to show that you were the only one he ever wanted this way.

“Oh Captain’s got his hands full again….or rather hand full.” You glanced across the bar as you entered the building to see what Lucky had been talking about and your sights zeroed in on the swarm of women around your Captain. Any that hadn’t been able to grab a chair at the table, stood excitedly close all of them listening to the current tale of adventure the crew had been on. Everyone in the crew, including yourself were used to this occurrence. Of course they’d be drawn to the handsome Captain with the roguish smile. You’d been drawn to it and fallen for his charm so you couldn’t exactly blame anyone else for it too. 

Despite that you still couldn’t help the foreign, uncomfortable feeling stirring in you at the sight. Up until a few months ago, you would have joined in with the rest of the crew, teasing your popular Captain but since then you’d fallen for him and started a relationship with Shanks which some of the crew still weren’t completely aware of. Jealousy wasn’t something you’d ever really felt before seeing as your previous relationship were flings at best and you and your partner knew as much. What you had with Shanks however felt different and because of the fact neither of you had made it public or put a label on what was going on between you both, it made the feeling even more uneasy at the sight in front of you. 

You walked with Lucky Roux to Shanks’ table just as he finished his story. At your approach Shanks’ eyes lit up and he grinned at you from behind his mug. “You two have some catching up to do.” He joked, while Lucky grinned and reached for the filled mug of ale offered to him, you nodded slightly and took your own with less enthusiasm as you normally would. Immediately Shanks’ suspicions were heightened, while his carefree smile remained the look in his eyes sharpened as he observed you drink steadily. A couple of the newer members of the crew rose from their seats to let you and Lucky sit at Shanks’ table out of respect to you both. Lucky took his seat without hesitation whereas you smiled and shook your head gently. Instead you drained your mug and turned to go to the bar for a refill. Shanks’ eyebrow quirked slightly and his fingers drummed against his mug while he watched you in concern. “Were there any issues Lucky?”

“Not a one, Cap’n. Ship got restocked without problem and the locals reported no trouble since our last visit here. Everyone’s happy.” Lucky reported with his usual smile before returning to his own conversation with Hongo. Shanks glanced at you from across the room again, watching as even with your new drink, you remained by the bar, sipping it slowly and staring at nothing. Shanks finished off his drink and moved to stand only for one of the women fawning over him put a hand on his shoulder, insisting they’d go and get the drink for him only for the others to pipe up too, leading them to bicker over who would get him a refill. “No, no, I’ll go myself, it’s fine. You all stay and Ben here will tell you of my best battle, won’t you Ben?”

At the promise of another story, Shanks was able to get away from the table without being followed by his admirers and he let out a sigh when he was out from the crowded presences and now standing beside you, fully noticing the difference he felt in the comparison of the two feelings. While he waited for the bartender to see to him, he glanced at you and saw your far-off look. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I’m staying close to the alcohol so I can catch up like you ordered me to Captain.” Your answer was even and detached, your gaze remaining on nothing in particular on the opposite wall. 

“You’ve got me worried, love.” At that pet-name you finally looked at Shanks. Unable to help yourself you glanced behind him to the table filled with people still waiting for him to return before returning your stare to his face. 

“It wasn’t my intention to worry you or ruin your fun. I was keeping my distance specifically to avoid that.” You explained and Shanks finally realised what the problem was. You were jealous, over them? People who paled in comparison to you in every way. 

“My fun’s only ruined if you’re not with me.” Shanks murmured closing the small space between you both. He saw the hesitancy in your eyes and he gave you a reassuring smile before securing his arm around your waist and kissing you deeply, the action dispelling the unease you’d been feeling instantly. Over the sound of the crew whistling and shouts of others to pay up because of a bet neither you or Shanks were aware of you broke apart from the kiss and smile when he lay his head against yours. “Should’ve done this a long time ago when I finally got you.” 

MARCO

You knew what you were getting into when you and Marco gave into your attraction for each other. You knew that his time would be taken up mostly with caring for Pops on a daily basis and the other members of the crew when they were sick or injured. Any free time he would have was precious and you were never possessive of that. When he was able to spend time with you he did and your patience was alway appreciated from him. Sometimes when he’s overloaded with work you stop by to offer him some food and sit in his office for an hour or so, just to enjoy each other’s presence. You don’t need to talk, just being there is enough for you both. 

On this occasion you hadn’t seen Marco because of a nasty flu making its way through some of the crew and after a few days without seeing his face, you’d grown to miss him. So you made your way to the medical office and your step faltered when you heard the familiar sound of his laughter coming from inside. Lightly you knocked on the door once and entered the room to see one of the nurses standing beside Marco as he sat at his desk. You smiled warmly when Marco seemed happy to see you but your smile fell when you spotted the empty plate on his desk. “Ah, you’ve already eaten.”

“Of course he has.” The nurse giggled, smiling at Marco playfully. “Though he would have forgotten if it wasn’t for me. As amazing as he is as a Doctor, he’s hopeless at looking after himself.”

“He’s lucky you’re here to look after for him then.” You said, unable to sound as cheerful as the nurse. Clearing your throat you looked down at the small plate of food you’d brought for your boyfriend. You knew nothing was going on between him or any of the nurses that worked closely alongside him but you still felt the jealousy growing in your chest. This was a small thing you could do for Marco and you felt childish for feeling stung that he didn’t need you. You didn’t like the feeling and needed to distance yourself from the cause. “I’m glad you’ve eaten so I’ll let you get back to your work. Don’t let him overwork himself, okay?” You forced the joke out with a tight smile while the nurse smiled brightly and nodded in joy that you were trusting her. Marco watched silently as you turned and left him. Even with his tiredness, he could still see something was wrong with you. 

As soon as he completed the current task on his desk, Marco stood and stretched. After working without resting for these days, he knew no-one would begrudge him a break away from his office. Stretching out he walked through the corridors until he was walking into the room he shared with you. You looked up in surprise from your lounged spot on the sofa. Before you could react, Marco was crawling onto the sofa and laying ontop of you, his head resting against your chest as his arms encircled you, holding you close. “Marco, what are you-”

“You left far too quickly.” Marco groaned out, now that he was lying down he realised just how uncomfortable sitting at his desk was. “I missed you, sorry I was cooped up in my office all this time.”

“You’re don’t need to apologise for that Marco.”

“I feel like I do need to say sorry for something though.” he admitted, lifting his head slightly to look at you with concern. “You didn’t seem yourself when you stopped by.”

“It’s not you, it’s me.” You promised, gently running your fingers through his hair. Under his patient stare you sighed and continued. “I’m not a doctor like you or trained in anything medical. For the most part I’m fine with that because I’m good in other ways but it’s just when you are overworking yourself there’s not much I can do to help you. One of those things is taking care of you and making sure you’re eating. It’s silly but it made me jealous to see someone else doing that for you.”

“It’s not silly at all. We can’t help our emotions but I’m glad you were able to talk to me about it.” Marco smiled, taking your hand to press a loving kiss against your wrist. “Never feel like you’re replaceable. I’m only ever able to rest like this because of your influence over me. No one looks after me the way you can and you’re the only one I want.”

Wild how when I call Shipping Culture oppressively pervasive and awful for any Aro/Ace with the gall to enjoy anything on the Internet, I get called a Fun-Hating Killjoy and told to just shut the fuck up or off myself, no matter how mild or polite my comment is. Wild how when I say a character either is textually Aro/Ace or is easier to read as Aro/Ace than Alloromantic/sexual, people start talking down to me like I'm a child who doesn't know anything, saying "Friendly reminder that Aro(s)/Aces can Date/Have Sex too, just like us Normal People!". As if I don't know anything about my own identity. Wild how when I do either of these things or even just say I'm not into a pairing or uninvested in shipping in general people call me fucking homophobic, even if the (at least popularly perceived - let's be honest, people are wrong half the time) genders of the characters is never once made relevant. Even though their reasoning for me being homophobic is lack of investment in a gay pairing they like, and nothing more. Wild how people throw little baby tantrums at even the gentlest criticism of Shipping Culture, or someone choosing not to engage heavily in it. Wild how they have the audacity to ask, with hostility, what the fuck Aro(s)/Aces are talking about when they say Shipping Culture is hostile to Aro/Ace fans, or ask what's wrong with them when they say that they aren't into Shipping.

It's almost like Bigots don't realize they're being Bigots when they do Bigotry, so just saying you're not a Bigot isn't enough. It's almost like Aro/Ace people know what the hell they're talking about. It's almost like we have a fucking point. It's almost like we're valid in expressing contempt and frustration with the constant expectation to engage with Romance and Sexuality at every waking moment, even if we're Romance and/or Sex Favorable. It's almost like we're tired of getting our identities erased, and we're tired of expecting to "act normal", and we're tired of just taking it when Allos use the Favorable members of our communities as a scapegoat for why they should be allowed to totally erase any of our representation just for their "Harmless Queer Fun" - deliberately, and I mean DELIBERATELY, failing to recognize or acknowledge the character's orientation, and how an A-Spec's personal relationship with and expressions of Love are going to look drastically different from an Allo person's - and call us the Bigots when we even glance in the direction of objection.

Alloromantics/sexuals are constantly looking for any reason they can to call Aro(s)/Aces unloving, unfeeling, frigid, soulless, cruel. Inhuman. They're looking for any reason they can to call us whiny children, stupid, people who "just haven't found the right one", addressing us only as "Works in Progress", or someone who can have their sexuality corrected with the right stimulus - Conversion Therapy and Corrective Rape are okay when it happens to us, after all. Any reason at all to call us heartless monsters. AlloAces are confused children. They can be fixed. AroAllos are manipulative, unfeeling sexual predators. They can't be fixed - just kill them. AroAces are frigid, mean bitches. They can be fixed. God forbid you're Aplatonic. God forbid you're part of the Repulsed spectrum. God forbid you're one of the Loveless. God forbid you hold any pride in your identity, God forbid you don't keep your mouth shut, God forbid you critique the overinflated importance Allos place onto Love as a concept. God forbid you critique something as asinine and juvenile as fucking Shipping Culture. Do any one of these and you've put a bright red, blazing neon target on your back.

Wild how the only real humans amongst us are the Romance, Sex, and Friendship Favorable who put their head down and mask as Allo, and side with the Allos when their fellow A-Specs get too loud for the comfort of their Allo friend's delicate little fee-fees. After all, Vitriol and Harassment are warranted when an Allo's feelings get slightly hurt that an Aro person says, on their own account, to no one in particular, that they're sick of every tag being 80% Shipping Content. i said nothing about us being oppressed compared to other aces & i said nothing about other aces being better off than us !

i do believe that there's an experience those on different ends of the spectrum have that those on other parts are probably never going to understand or personally experience — i myself am never going to experience something like being excluded from our own community, because i'm what someone would see as the Posterchild Aroace™

but i can simultaneously acknowledge that our world & many fandom spaces are extremely amatonormative & generally speaking are going to be more open to those who can, or are more comfortable, integrating with cultures on sex & romance.

i think we can all agree that shipping culture alone has the power to make or break a fandom. i also tend to notice like i mentioned in tags, that many people, even within our own community, who are not repulsed aroaces, tend to treat us talking about our community experiences with apprehension, or tend to make assumptions in what we're saying/misconstrue our words to make what we ask sound unreasonable. again, i know that there are different kinds of aphobia on other ends of the spectrum & it's not fun being on the internet with a marginalised identity within a marginalised identity, but it's also not like it's untrue that those who are romance & sex repulsed may feel unwelcome participating in fandoms with a heavy emphasis on those things. especially when most people's response to that is to dismiss us by saying to simply block tags & accounts, not taking into account that a lot is untagged & blocking everything just makes community comparatively wayyy less available

i'm not trying to put one end over the other or cause infighting & i apologise if it seemed that way ! when i said "minority" it was more of an acknowledgement of what i have personally seen (in my Personal™ experience, i've noticed it's much more common to identify with one or the other, ace or aro, or a microlabel, than it is to be aroace. & even in aroaces, more common to be at least romance neutral, while rarer to find someone repulsed by sex & romance. but yes i admit this is entirely anecdotal !) that doesn't really include other connotations that come with the word. i'm not tryna like ... One thing I absolutely love about Hazbin Hotel is the diversity of representation in it. However I do note a lack of respect for that same diversity in the Fandom and it infuriates me. Yes, I am primarily talking about Alastor. Alastor is canonically AroAce. There seems to be a complete disregard for that in a large portion (though not all of course) of the Fandom. I've seen him shipped with Lucifer, Vox, Rosie, and Angel. I also want to say I've seen him shipped with Charlie and Vaggie, though, fortunately, not particularly commonly. Now I do understand that desire and attraction are not necessarily synonymous. Dude, I’m aro (specifically demi-ro) and allos3xual ( bi specifically), I'm familiar. I also know QPRs are a thing. However the implications in the vast majority of shipping posts is not that a desire (without attraction) is being filled or that the relationship is a QPR. It is an implication of romantic and/or (usually and) s3xual attraction and chemistry. Also in addition to the attraction situation there's another issue I have with these ships, I would say canonically it is implied that Alastor is not only AroAce, but is also sex repulsed (I'm not going to go into my arguments for that in this post, but maybe in another). Now if you're looking at me going “Didn't the creator say we could ship anybody with anybody” or “it doesn't really matter,” Let me put a question to you. If you saw a character who was canonically confirmed to be lesbian, and a large portion of people in the Fandom started constantly shipping her with every single man in the cannon, would you still have this same level of apathy? I doubt it. If people were excusing it with “it’s just my headcanon ” or “the creator said we can ship anybody” would that change anything? No that would still be lesbian erasure I'm pretty sure I'd be seeing a lot of posts with people up in arms about it, right? Why aren't we bringing the same energy here. It's the same thing. This is AroAce erasure. Now if you're saying, and I've seen people say this kind of thing, “it's just a character it doesn't matter. Pick something that does,” Yes it does matter. There are very, very few confirmed AroAce characters, just in general. We know that representation matters. Also aphobia is a problem not only outside, but also inside of the LGBTQ + community. There are people who tell aro and ace people they aren’t really part of the LGBTQ+ community, even to the extent of not allowing them in LGBTQ+ spaces. Our character representation deserves the same respect as yours. We deserve respect.

To address this ask, I first pose a question myself; Why?

The point of shipping, or really any fan creation, is to show your love and support for media/a character by expressing yourself, your thoughts and your theories/headcanon's through your work. The reason a lot of characters are loveable and popular is because they are fully capable of allowing fans to see themselves in them and see their versions without destroying the canon.

For example; If we look at Zoro from One Piece. As far as we're aware, bro has little to no romantic inclination. And yet his top ship is with another man on the crew, who happens to be woman loving Sanji. But it isn't something that feels wrong or out of place, because the ambiguity is there and their relationship is prebuilt, fans just need to figure out how it moves to romantic. The ability to see past the initial "Oh, Sanji loves women" and see the potential branches for this path. Yes, it's probably canon he legit loves women like that, but it could also be a trauma reaction based on his back story. Or it could ALSO be possible that he's bi/pan/etc

In short; Just because someone is shown a certain way, doesn't mean that's the only option. As fans we have the freedom to conjure up theories and beliefs based on the information presented to us.

Another good example would be Naruto. He's married to a woman, and yet it's still VERY much suggested that he loves Sasuke the same way. There is no "definite" answer. Assuming there is purely because of the canon relationships is a little closed minded in my opinion.

AND, even if it is stated, people change. We weren't born thinking "Oh heck yeah, dong". We develop our tastes as we grow and learn and experience new things. A great example would be Deadpool for this. He starts off in love with a woman (I'm speaking film wise by the way) and continues to love her, but very much over the course of their relationship begins to experiment and opens up that door for himself. Some people need to find the right person that makes them question themselves before they can confirm anything. Or, on the flip side, they need to see a lot of potential and not react lovingly/sexually to them in order to put the pieces together for aro/ace.

Life is a mystery bag of tags and labels that we as humans made to understand things better, and that's ok. Be who you are and love what/who you love. Be YOU

Anyway, I think I went a bit off tangent haha XD All I'm trying to say is, doors aren't entirely shut because of one thing or another. Fans can and will continue to express themselves and their thoughts through their loved characters, and that's ok. It's healthy even! I know people who use characters to test the waters for themselves because it can't hurt the people around them. It's harmless. A bit of fun, if you will.

I will always say this to these kinds of comments, ones where you should ask yourself "why am I bothering to send this?".

It is easier to keep scrolling past something you don't like, then drawing attention to it, and yourself, by commenting something that could hurt or upset an innocent person, and honestly makes you look like a silly grumpy guts :)

What is this project about?

This project is somewhat similar to an AU — instead of one Yuu, there are many, and they all live at Ramshackle together. In other words, chaos is prone to happen... (hence the project's name)!

Other than that, it follows the canon storyline from the game.

What exactly is the focus of this project?

The project focuses on the members' Yuus and their relationships with each other. The canon characters and OCs from dorms other than Ramshackle obviously play an important role, too! We develop friendships and rivalries between our OCs, come up with scenarios, and also have an official OC x canon ship list!

Apart from all this, the main purpose is to make friends within the fandom, showcase and further develop your OCs, and discover other people's characters!

Is there an established lore that this project follows?

Other than the fact that all the Yuus live together in Ramshackle at the same time and that we have established ships, there isn't.

In order to make the project as easy and fun as possible (especially due to the large number of OCs), we don't have a defined storyline and focus on situations rather than larger plots.

When does this project take place?

Primarily during the same time/school year as the game. Scenes can take place before the prologue, way after book 7, during any of the books, or at another point entirely!

However, one thing stays the same no matter what: the Yuus presently don't know why they're in Twisted Wonderland, and the major mysteries remain hidden from sight...

No, as we're trying to keep the school's overall setting as close to canon as possible.

Oh I love QPRs, I love relationship anarchy. I love the diverse ways that people can define a relationship that works for them, with whatever they need in it, and it can have sex or no sex, kissing or no kissing, sleeping together or sleeping apart, raising children together, buying a house, marriage, pet names, holidays with family— any sort of thing we put into a relationship, and we can pull that apart and reassemble it in a way that works for us, and it can be romantic or not, or sexual or not, but boy howdy it sure is queer.

Okay I have been assuming that this is in a fandom writing context, but the above all applies to them in real life. In FANDOM—

Okay I may be on the outside with this, but I think a QPR can definitely come up to the line of being ship, depending on the QPR, so I don't necessarily agree with the way this fandom has fallen into QPR = not!shipping that's safe to publically do to cubitos whose creators don't want ship.

Cause like, we have clips from streamers saying they're not comfortable with ship, or not comfortable with things being "weird", but they usually don't specify beyond that. In a lot of cases, they haven't specified if there's a distinction between character shipping or IRL shipping, so like in no cases have they specified if the issue with shipping is sex (cause you can have an ace romantic marriage with no sex— does that count as "ship"?) or romance (cause by definition QPRs would not apply) or strong emotional dwelled on bonds that tie them to another player in a tight way (cause like, this is what a fair number of people writing QPRs fall into, cause from the outside if you're not aro some of the QPRs look pretty close to romantic relationship on the surface! I know it's not romance, and you know it's not romance, but is a streamer just scrolling twitter going to see that at a first glance if they come across a snippet of someone calling each other a life partner and going to bed together?) Cause like, trying to put myself in the shoes of the streamer, I could see the problem being sex (makes sense) OR romance (makes sense) or any really tight emotionally-dwelled on life-bond relationship (some of this I don't know if the streamers might still think it's weird to see done to their characters, even if it's technically by definition platonic). So some of this I still don't know if QPRs are something that every creator is going to feel comfortable seeing?

And I don't tend to love the implications of some of the stuff twitter does where it's like "oh, i can't ship, only QPR", like QPRs are automatically like santitized "safe" shipping, instead of their own category of thing that could mean almost anything. Like in real life if you know someone is in a QPR you know they're in a QPR, you still have no idea if that means they're married, or have sex, or make out on the regular, or call each other lovey dovey things, or sleep together, you just know they have a life bond. This fandom treats QPR like it's only one thing, and like it's a lesser, training wheels type of relationship, and that really grinds my gears.

So for me QPRs fall into a category where I'm like, awesome, pog to do, I know we love to take interactions between cubitos and expand them out and it makes perfect sense to take some of these in a QPR way. Go on with your bad self. But unless a creator has explicitly allowed it/canonized it, honestly I'd treat it the same way as I would some of the more hot-button trigger tagged fics (abuse, cannibalism, whump, mind control, addictions issues, torture) or like "instincts driven" family dynamic stuff or extremely aged down family dynamic stuff, where I'm like yes, technically this is fine, but let's just be safe and keep that where the streamer only finds it if they go looking for it. Please keep it out of TTS. This is something for the fandom, not for the streamers.

Just tag your shit and keep it away from the streamers and you're good.

See, here's the thing, I am onboard with SolarxMoon. Their dynamic is the cutest within the Tsams/Tlaes that I have enjoyed. What I am not onboard, as an AroAce, is when you and your friends use your A-specs cards as some sort of gotcha. Yes, some A-specs can date either romantically or qpr, and they are used against us A-specs that are romance/sex-repulsed as some sort of invalidation of who we are. We are all too familiar with: "Well, this A-specs person dates. What's stopping you? You have no excuse." and "I like shipping and I'm A-specs, so..."

You and your friends got to understand why the way you worded things made you three seem aphobic to your own community. Adding on, celebrating that Moon is now questioning was another questionable move on your guys' part. A lot of A-specs Tsams fans found comfort in him being AroAce and being the representation for a group who has little to no representation at all in any sort of media. Imagine how it felt seeing people of your own community being happy that the one thing we had as a community is now being erased.

Just because you're part of the minority group doesn't mean you can't be -phobic to that very same group. Tons upon tons of LGBTQA+ infighting has proven this.

But a fictional character, expressing need to change their sexual orientation because of differing circumstances, means a great deal to me. Because back then, folks thought 'the gays' we're just all 'born this way' or there is something wrong with us.

That if you were gay or ace or lesbian you were born that way and it's concrete and nothing you can do or say will say that.

Unless they literally beat or fucked it out of you. Which is just awful btw.

Nowadays, people experimenting with sexuality and labels is far more common.

To see it in characters in a silly little youtube show like Moon, and Lunar makes me really happy.

A ship I have with said character: All right, surprising no one, I adore Sephiroth/Tseng. Like, I just think they're so good for each other before, you know, Nibelheim. I think Sephiroth needs someone patient with him, someone willing to let him go at his own pace when it comes to figuring things out, and Tseng is very happy to let him do so.

That said, I also really like Sephiroth/Genesis. I tried my best to get some written for Sephesis Week, but I just couldn't get the dynamic I wanted on the page. I'll have to try again.

A BROTP I have with said character: Angeal and Genesis and Glenn and Lucia and Matt. I just. I want Sephiroth to have all of the friends, tbh. T_T

A NOTP I have with said character: I used to ship Aerith/Sephiroth really hard when I was young (I feel like in part because it side-stepped me out of the Aerith/Cloud/Tifa thing), but honestly, I don't know that I could ship them together anymore. It would be... It would have to be a very weird relationship, and most of what I see just tries to push it into very simple boxes.

A random headcanon: Sephiroth is quietly brilliant with all things science-related, and when Gast was still around, he was occasionally allowed to follow Reeve around the Science department as he did work on reactor designs. This lasted until Gast vanished and Hojo took over, when Sephiroth was around eight.

A year later, Reeve took the reactors from Science and started putting together what would eventually be Urban Development, and the next time he and Sephiroth saw one another, Sephiroth was a SOLDIER and Reeve was a director.

General Opinion over said character: I love Sephiroth. I have a particular soft spot for sane!Sephiroth, mostly because that's the time period I prefer to write in.

Reno of the Turks

Sexuality Headcanon: Aromantic, and definitely on the asexual spectrum. He is perfectly happy to have sex with someone-- no repulsion or anything; he just doesn't feel sexual attraction to any individual.

That said, he'd climb Rude like a tree, if Rude will let him. In no small part because he is 100% aware that Rude experiences romantic and sexual attraction, and Reno wants their partnership to be unbreakable on Rude's end.

Gender Headcanon: Cis male, but he's far less attached to the 'male' part of his identity than most of my characters.

A ship I have with said character: I... don't know that I have any happy ships with Reno, but I have plenty of absolutely heartbreaking ones.

Reno/Rude - A classic for a reason, but I suspect Rude leans a little more straight than most of my others, so it's always temporary to some degree.

Tseng/Reno - Ah, Tseng/Reno. A favorite and the bane of my existence, all at once. Basically, my default Reno and Tseng are in a D/s relationship where Tseng has carte blanche to tell Reno... anything. Because of that, I write it where Tseng would never let himself press into a sexual relationship with Reno, just because he knows that Reno cannot tell him no emotionally. For more information on this, I recommend my "Reno and Loyalty" meta that I just cross-posted from my old RP blog!

Reno/Elena/Rude - So this starts out as Reno wanting to tie Elena into the group a little more during the OG. (Curious what that looks like? I've written it here.) And when it's become a regular thing and they have a rhythm and everything, Reno... slowly pulls back. It's after AC and everything, and it's really gradual. And he doesn't pull back from them because he dislikes them or anything, he just... He knows what long term relationships are supposed to look like, and they don't usually include "someone like him," you know?

Reno/Tifa/Rude - This starts out super great, but just like Reno/Elena/Rude, will almost inevitably end with Reno pushing Rude and Tifa together and drifting off from them.

A BROTP I have with said character: Reno and any Turk, frankly.

A NOTP I have with said character: Mm. Most Tseng/Reno stuff, frankly. But not because I don't love it! I just love... specific variants of it.

A random headcanon: Reno has five younger sisters that he's responsible for. They live in the slums when he's first hired on into the Turks, but eventually, Reno gets them moved Above the Plate.

General Opinion over said character: Reno was the first canon FF7 character that I ever RPed, well over 20 years ago now. He's got a special spot in my heart, as I'm sure you can tell, given my icon is basically this icon on everything.

OC/Ship Ask Game: Firsts

Quinn:

5. First time breaking a bone

She was about 8, and was at recess with her classmates and was dared to jump off the roof of the shed (where all the sports equipment was kept). She tried to roll on landing because someone told her that was the safe way to do it, but landed hard on her wrist when she tried and broke her arm. All she really remembers was how fun it was to jump off the roof, and how her parents got mad when she asked for a pink cast (they made her get a plain white one, and she colored all over it with markers anyway)

7. First time they experimented with their personal style

She didn't really have a rebellious period until she was in college, since her parents didn't really allow her to. And I think I've told this story before, but when she got to college, she went to see a drag show with a few friends and that led to her realizing she was trans. I think her first real experimentation came from that - trying out some hyperfemme styles back when she still thought she was just "trying drag", realizing she was female, then finally settling into her more punk style once she was comfortable with that realization.

15. First thing they remember feeling proud of

She was raised to take a lot of pride in her studies, though schooling didn't come naturally to her (they were plenty smart and clearly knew the material, but couldn't focus when they were cooped up behind a desk). She remembers feeling proud of her first aced exam, since she was otherwise more of a B and C student.

25. First major success in their story

Honestly, I'd say getting away from their parents and stumbling into their first pickpocketing gig. It's not really presented as a success in the context of the story, since she's so emotionally uprooted at the time, but as a whole it's what spurs her into the best periods of her life.

P. First time seeing the other all dressed up

They didn't have the opportunity or money to really dress up while in the Wolf Pack, so I think it was probably once they were with the Ghosts. One had them all dress up nice for one of the missions, and Quinn honestly had a great time going dress shopping with Two and Five (not her first time shopping for dresses, but definitely her first time wearing anything so fancy/formal).

It didn't look like a huge deal to the rest of the team, since they were all so focused on the mission at the time, but as soon as they got back to the Graveyard... you can probably guess how the rest of that story goes.

X. First major hardship they got through together

They went through a lot of hardships managing the Wolf Pack together - injuries, botched missions, team drama, you name it - but if you're talking about the first hardship they get through as a couple... it's probably learning to navigate around Quinn's disabilities. Because they'd known each other so well before the accident, there were a lot of physical routines and rhythms they had to relearn, as well as a lot of ingrained guilt and embarrassment to sort through. It's definitely a shift from what they were used to, and it took a while before they really fell back into sync with each other.

Jimmy:

First big aspiration (i.e. what did they want to be when they grew up?)

He wanted to work with animals, and specifically to discover new species like Charles Darwin did. Obviously, only one-half of that worked out (he did work with animals), but he's still satisfied with that.

18. First example of real character growth along their journey

After his death, it was hard for him to connect with people (both physically, since he's a ghost, and emotionally, since he had such a traumatic and bigotry-motivated death), and we do see him start to reach out again over the course of his story.

21. First major change in their life, and how they dealt with it

His family went through some financial ups and downs, especially based on the job market. One of the biggest changes Jimmy remembers is a new family moving into the spare room of their condo - he was too young to realize his parents were subletting the place to make a little extra money, he just knew that all of a sudden his house was very crowded and he didn't really like it. It was one of the things that spurred him into his love of reading, since he'd escape off to the library when he needed a little more peace and quiet.

22. First introduction in their story (share a snippet or description)

A-ha! I'm actually really proud of this one, because I don't actually start HIYH with Jimmy's, or even Lars' POV! The first chapter is this sort of dramatic, folklore-y introduction about the ghosts of Coney Island, and I think it sets a really neat atmosphere for the rest of the story. Here's Jimmy's introduction:

Perhaps the most peculiar is the ghost of a young man named James Luciano. He walks the fair with a smile on his face and a wound gushing blood, appearing as tangible as any living human but soon vanishing without a trace. On his more daring days, as the stories suggest, he’ll appear to bachelors at the carnival booths and ask them to win him a prize. History states that he died in the year 1915, shot straight through the heart by a jealous ex-lover while floating through the Tunnel of Love. History rarely tells the truth.

🎬 - First fandom(s) you wrote for, and if you still write for them

Technically I wrote a 5-page fic in the Terfy Wizard Fandom when I was like 11 and didn't even realize what fanfic was. Other than that, it was X-Men, which I ABSOLUTELY still write for.

Again... I started writing X-Men, so if you count mutants as "nonhuman", then it would be my OC Mira Hart. If that doesn't count... idk, Robin has a pet cat named Yoda?

🤯 - First story that gained traction/attention, and how it made you feel

Oh man, Catch and Release gained a ton of traction right after I first started posting it, and it was a huge shock to me. I remember intentionally making the decision to just start even though I usually let my stories marinate a bit before I write them, because I wanted to take advantage of the No Way Home hype before it died, but I didn't expect that to actually work! I actually started getting regular kudos and comments (they've since slowed down significantly, but there was a big spike at the beginning), and it was outrageously surprising to me.

It was cold...

Way too cold

You never felt warmth throughout your whole life, but this time it was way worse than any other time. You were just walking on the beach when the coldness hit you, you saw a pirate ship in the distance so you wanted to get a closer look but seems the world decided to finally end you suffering. Your eyes started closing as you fell on the sand. You thought you heard footsteps but it's not like it mattered anymore. You could feel your life was slowly coming to an end...

"Her temperature is way too low, how is she even alive right now?" Marco muttered partially to himself while Ace just stared at your unconscious body "it's gonna get lower than it already is she'll die for sure-" "what if I warm her up?" Ace cut him off. Marco thought for a minute thinking of any other way but this one seemed like the best one to help you at the moment "yeah it should work, just don't do it rapidly we need to take it slow so the body will get used to the temperature in a healthy way" Marco replied. Ace quickly sat on the inflammatory bed pulling you close to him. Your body was cold as ice so he hissed at the contact, but you needed him right now. He didn't even know you. He didn't know what made him so determined to help you, but he didn't bother thinking about that, for now he needs to help you. Maybe it was the feeling that he was needed to someone..

Hours later you were still unconscious but your body seemed to warm up "her temperature seems to be normal now, you can lay her down" Marco told Ace. But as soon as he stopped touching you the thermometer showed once again that your body heat seemed to low down to a dangerous level "what the hell... Why can't her body hold heat on its own?" Marco was confused, he never seen anything like that, he couldn't even give you any meds since he didn't know what was wrong with you. The only thing that seemed to help was Ace, who was keeping you close once again seeing your state worsen. "I'm gonna go find some books, maybe one of them will help. For now, keep a close eye on her. If anything happens come get me" Marco told Ace who nodded actually looking like he payed attention for once which surprised Marco a bit but he decided to ignore it.

You felt weird, comfortable, but in a weird way. You never felt anything like that, without thinking much you wrapped your hands around the 'thing' that was emitting the weird feeling. Was it warmth? No it couldn't be... You heard a grunt in response making you freeze in place scared to open your eyes "huh?" Ace looked down and saw you clench to him for your dear life as if you were about to die if he was to leave. It took him a minute to realize what's happening "oh shit, you're awake! Are you ok, does anything hurt?" He asked you worried "...I'm ok" you whispered into his chest "I'm gonna go get Marco, he needs to check up on you" he spoke fast trying to stand up but you wouldn't let him go. He looked down at you and you looked like you were about to cry "please don't go... I haven't left so warm in my life" you whisper-begged him, he didn't understand. You didn't feel warm? "What do you mean?" He asked confused sitting down again allowing you to hug him close "since I was born I never really felt warm. I could even spill boiling water on myself and wouldn't feel it..." You explained. He didn't know what to do, if he doesn't get Marco he's gonna get his ass kicked by him, and if he does go to get him your state will worsen. He didn't want to take you with him since it was cold outside already, he thought for a second "I'm not going anywhere, don't worry" he reassured, you were so happy you couldn't stop yourself but kiss him on the freckled cheek making him blush furiously. "Thank you thank you thank you!" You kept on repeating hugging him tighter while he shyly hugged you back.

Soon both of you fell asleep considering it was the middle of the night. Marco came back to the inflammatory room to tell Ace he wasn't successful in finding anything when he saw you both cuddled up on the bed. He checked your temperature making him sigh in relief seeing it's normal, when he pulled away the thermometer he saw you move you hands around Ace making him happy to see you're not completely unconscious anymore. Though most of his happiness came from the fact he has now more stuff to tease Ace about with the others. He pulled covers on both of you and went to his room to get some sleep, thinking of what his next course of action should be.

You woke up cold again "maybe it was a dream.." you thought to yourself. You sat up scanning your surroundings, no, it couldn't be a dream the room looks exactly the same. You stood up immediately walking towards the door opening it up, it was cold, but you were desperate to find him again. He can help you, you saw some people staring at you "isn't that the girl Ace found last night?" "I think so-" "where is the guy with freckles?" You cut him off "oh, you mean Ace? I believe he's with Marco and Thatch in the kitchen right now, but you shouldn't be walking around the deck you're sick aren't you?" You didn't bother listening to more and decided to find the kitchen running away, you didn't know where the kitchen was but you didn't care. You just needed to find him, you felt a bit dizzy but decided to ignore it for now "it'll get better when I find him" you thought.

You were opening doors one after another until you finally opened one of them seeing three guys staring wide eyed at you, and one of them was him, the freckles. "What are you doing out of your bed?" The pineapple head started speaking "I told you I shouldn't have left her, why won't you believe me?" "Because it makes no sense!" Both freckles and pineapple started arguing while you started feeling dizzy again "hey girly, you hungry? I can cook for you anything you want-" before the other guy could finish you started falling to the ground, before you could hit the floor though Ace caught you and lifted you up. "Shit, are you ok?" He cursed under his nose, you didn't bother replying and just nodded, you could feel warmth coming from his body making you feel at ease. Marco quickly ran up to you putting his hand on your forehead feeling it get warm rapidly "what the hell, Ace I told you to not warm her up that fast!" Marco scolded him "but I'm not doing anything! I'm just holding her right now!" Ace defended himself, Marco put his hand on his forehead then Ace's, it wasn't hotter than his own "huh-" he was even more confused than earlier "you can't think on an empty stomach, how about we all eat and then think?" Thatch suggested and both of them nodded in agreement while you nuzzled yourself into Ace's chest making him blush and the other two smirk.

You all ate and you got to know all of their names making you feel stupid you didn't think of Ace's name earlier considering he has a tattoo of it. Soon enough Marco started bombarding you with questions while Ace kept you in his lap "so basically you can't feel heat since you're born and the only one you're feeling it from is Ace?" He asked in shock "pretty much yeah" you shrugged "so what do we do?" Ace asked "well, her state got so bad to the point she will die if she won't feel your touch for too long, we don't really have too much of a choice here do we" Thatch spoke while Marco nodded "it's all up to you Y/n, would you like to join Whitebeard pirates? I'm sure Pop's will understand your situation" Marco said, it nade you think for a bit. It's not like you have anything to keep you in your home, everyone always bullies you for your disability, so.. "as long as I can be with Ace I don't mind" you blantly said making Ace cover his face with his hand at your choice of words. "It's decided then, let's go to Pop's!"

Whitebeard was reculant at first but he quickly took a liking to you "I can't fight but I can do other things I can cook too!" You said as Whitebeard laughed at your determination "As long as you don't bother Thatch I don't have anything against it. Now, let's have a banquet for my daughter!" Whitebeard announced laughing as you hugged Ace's arm feeling cold yet again. "Welcome abroad" he smiled making you smile back at him. "Now that I think of it" Marco started catching everyone's attention "how are you gonna sleep?" he finished making Ace's face drop at his words and making Thatch laugh like a maniac while you were standing there confused at everyone's reactions. "She'll need a separate room that's for sure, but considering she needs to keep warm she could just sleep with Ace in his room" Marco continued smirking at Ace making him blush furiously "y-yeah I guess" he stuttered avoiding eye contact with everyone.

The evening came fast, everyone was enjoying the banquet drinking and laughing "Ace is one lucky guy to have such a beauty stuck to him~" one guy said, he was completely wasted just like most of the crew. You laughed with everyone else while Ace had more confidence in his drunken state putting his arm around you being on the verge of passing out after so many drinks "I'm gonna put him in his room, he's gonna pass out any minute.." Izo said being the most sober person along with you. He picked up Ace while you followed them to his room "if you need anything feel free to ask" Izo said smiling while putting Ace on the bed. You giggled at his soft snores, he looked cute "good night y/n" "good night" you replied as Izo closed the door behind him. You looked around, you didn't expect the room to be so clean, you looked at passed out Ace on the bed, he was still in his pants "it must be uncomfortable to sleep in those" you thought, you took them off along with his hat and necklace and pulled covers over his body. You looked around the room and decided to search for any shirts, with no avail "I guess he really doesn't like shirts" you thought to yourself taking off everything except you panties and bra joining Ace under the covers cuddling up to him and soon falling asleep.
