So true OMG what a great point!
And despite being a cold blooded murderer who planned all this - he knew Dumbledore thought Sirius was secret keeper, he knew if the Potters were murdered Sirius would be blamed, he purposely shouted and caused a scene so random observers would swear also if necessary that he accused Sirius of being the spy and then was “killed” in the mayhem caused by a huge blast which killed many innocent muggles (and which he uses to hide his transformation into a rat and escape)-
Despite him working as a spy for Voldemort for a whole year before 31st October 1981 - during which time members of the Orders were dropping like flies, murdered in awful ways (Fenwick blown to smithereens, Marlene’s entire family murdered) - so much so that everyone knew they had been compromised and there must be a spy in their midst
Despite us knowing he managed to somehow (I headcanon) sow mistrust to the point where Sirius believed Remus to be the spy
Despite all this:
We still so underestimate Peter Pettigrew to the point of being shocked when someone like you reminds us that he was a mass murderer…
One hell of a clever fucking character
I feel like this fandom never really talks about the fact that Peter Pettigrew murdered at least twelve people. Probably more (either directly or indirectly) while he was working for Voldemort. Like, everyone fixates on the fact that he turned traitor, that he was a spy and he got James and Lily killed and framed Sirius for it, and all of those things are absolutely terrible, but like... he murdered twelve people in cold blood. What Sirius went to Azkaban for was that murder, not for supposedly betraying his friends. Most of the wider wizarding world wasn't aware that the Potters had a secret keeper or that they'd been betrayed, they just thought that Voldemort had tracked them down, as he had so many others, and that was that. What Sirius was famous for was supposedly murdering thirteen people (twelve muggles + Peter) with a single curse. The mass murder was the big deal here as far as the rest of the world was concerned, and even without all of the betrayal, murdering twelve people on its own is still an absolutely horrific thing for Peter to have done, and nobody really seems to talk about it. He literally has so much blood on his hands.

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"

Enough with Lois being flattered and seduced by Bruce Wayne. I want Clark blushing like a school girl every time Bruce gets within ten feet, and Lois wants to know why.
So of course she sleeps with him. Mostly to prove to Clark that Wayne isn’t all that and a bag of snacks. A little bit because hey, Wayne isn’t exactly horrible to look at, even if her vibrator has more sentience.
And then, in the middle of trying to prove to Clark that there’s absolutely nothing to get flustered about, Wayne rocks her fucking world. Not once, not twice, not a fluke — all weekend. In between rounds she spots him doing the New York Times crossword in pen and decides it’s a hallucination.
She limps (happily) back to the office on Monday and when Clark brings up Bruce Wayne again, she keeps her mouth shut.

Wait, the tsun event has a whole bit dedicated to Malleus bragging about what kitchen appliances he knows how to use? Twst EN just got the milk culinary crucible, which means at the same time Malleus is showing off, the entirety of the EN players are learning Leona doesn't know how to use a microwave. The timing really just makes it feel like Malleus is flexing on Leona XD
it's in Mal's card story rather than in the event proper, but yep! after teaching his tsum proper microwave usage, he takes it on a tour and very proudly shows off his extensive knowledge of household appliances. (except when he thinks his tsum fell into the washing machine and doesn't know how to unlock the lid, so he just. explodes it instead. hashtag just diasomnia things. 🤷)
I do think he and Leona should get into a fight about who has done a better job of learning how to use kitchen tools! Leona has the advantage of having grown up in the modern world, but Malleus has the motivation to actually do literally anything. who will win

How did Treasure Planet manage to come up with the greatest aesthetic in all human history? Victorian elegance plus space-age flair, with just enough dirt and grime and wear and tear to make it feel real? A combination of traditional and computer animation that perfectly embodies the movie's blend of old and futuristic? How does it get any better than that?

Love that Oppenheimer is a deeply disturbing horror movie about a man forced to accept that he is, in a person, the representative manifestation of mankind’s evil in committing one of the greatest horrors of human history - LITERALLY acting as the modern Prometheus, tormented by his sins for the remainder of time. Knowing that he will never be pitied and his actions will forever be utterly unforgivable because the blood of genocide and the potential of total human annihilation will eternally drip from his hands.
But also the simultaneous indictment by the film that to blame a single person for the Manhattan Project is to refuse to accept your own capacity for great evil if the ends ever seem to justify the means, and the culpability of every member of a species that lets itself create something so unspeakably terrible.
Hate that twitter’s take on such a nuanced and brilliantly handled examination of those issues is “movie bad because protagonist not evil enough.”

Guys. The cows were about how if people don't like you or don't want to listen to you, they'll decontextualise your actions and use them to discredit you in any situation. How doing one (1) memorable bad thing can be held against you forever. The cows are about looking a council of world leaders in the eyes, telling them we're all being robbed of our futures by megacorporations, showing them the receipts and numbers and photographic evidence, and being told none of your arguments matter actually because you're The Cow Guy.
The cows are about how people don't forgive, not really.

just finished vengeance most fowl. it was so fun first and foremost but i don't think I'm the only one who saw it as a fairly heavy handed generative AI analogy - at least in part. there's helpful things AI can do, sure. but patting your dog, being 'creative' on your behalf and being your everyday reliance for things as simple and human as making tea aren't it.

Schrödinger’s Feyre: Where Feyre is simultaneously a cunning and badass girlboss with a mind of steel and a fragile little lamb who doesn’t know any better. When they’re proud, she’s a skilled strategist and competent High Lady, but when it comes to facing the consequences of her actions and the implications of her power, suddenly she’s a little baby waddling through fairy land.
