I know Shockwave would never mess with bumblebees mind to make bee like him more but what if some other decepticon noticed him and is basically like "hey I noticed your autobot son is so disobedient and still loyal to the autobots. Don't worry I fixed him for you so now he'll listen to you! You're welcome!" And brainwashes Bee for him.

he'd get sooooo mad, like unbearably so. it's very important to him that bumblebee's affection towards him is "real" and the fact someone brainwashed him, and it wasn't even shockwave's doing, would actually make him crash out CRAZY STYLE.

Does shockwave have anything to do with what’s going on with Optimus? I have a slight theory that if this is true, shockwave is doing it because of his relationship with Bumblebee (and many other reasons)

nope! he doesn't really care about optimus (since he's technically out of the way) and the prison stuff is mostly under lugnut anyway. optimus' situation is more connected to megatron more than anything.

Idea time hear me out.

Peace au where a third enemy showed up and autobots and decepticons had to unite to defeat it trope. Broke war vetaran Bumblebee who keeps getting fired from his workplaces so he gets desperate enough to go around doing odd jobs to earn money.

He runs into Shockwave somewhere and instead of ignoring him like he'd hoped and prayed, the mech strikes up a conversation to reminisce about their friendship in bootcamp when he was undercover as Longarm- completely ignoring the fact that he was a spy and basically manipulated Bee into framing an innocent person, plus the emotional damage of tearing open the old wound of misplaced trust. Bee just smiles and plays along while cursing him out mentally due to fear of losing another job (the high command decepticons are pretty well-off due to a good political joice made early on). And just when Bee thinks he's about to lose control and tell this mofo to piss off, Shockwave offers him a job as his lab assistant. Bee's first instinct is to refuse, but upon hearing his potential salary he takes the offer.

Let the horrors commense. (Maybe constantly getting fired wasn't only because Bumblebee kept fumbling it.)

i love ideas where bee is forced to work in proximity to shockwave. it's soooo good. and with that last comment...i'm taking that as shockwave deliberately sabotoging bumblebee's work so he'd eventually be desperate enough to take anything (even a job with HIM) and i also like to think they didn't just bump into each other by chance lol.

there's just something abt shockwave manipulating things in the background, making bee think that maybe there's something wrong with himself for not being able to hold work...it's all very shockwave-y lol. it's like he hasn't learnt his lesson about wasp at all!!!!

In side of your evil shockwave dad au do you think that it could ever get to a point where bumblebee would consider sawing of his like horns/ear things on his head because they look sorta like shockwaves?

nahhh, bc i don't think bee would really EVER compare himself to shockwave whatsoever. he already hates being around him, he's more likely to point out their differences and how much they aren't related.

shockwave remembers watching the caretaker and the sparkling. he remembers them kissing its forehead. he tries it on bee, forgetting to change into longarm and ends up aggressively poking his optic on his horn. this is the only W bee will be getting for the next cycles.

i think ive put multiple scenes in the fic where shockwave actually tries to mimic that forehead kiss by bumping his helm against bee's. but thankfully, he hasn't poked bee's eye out (yet).

i dont think he'd really keep bumblebee's parts, its not like he can use them for anyone else since they're autobot parts. but he does have one thing he probably kept around :)

If I may crank up the weirdness/cringing from Bumblebee to genuine horror:

If attempts at humor fail, Shockwave could try other ways of making Bumblebee feel like "home"... by analyzing Team Prime instead.

Missing a bleeding spark like Optimus as a leader? Why, he'll go straight away to Bumblebee and lecture him about Megatron's "qualities" such as "open-mindedness and generosity". Playtime with Bulkhead? If he's in such a rush, he could go Longarm for him and do whatever Bee suggests (if Bee suggests anything at all). Training with Prowl? If it entertains the kid, Shockwave will gladly set up an obstacle course just deadly enough not to kill Bumblebee, only severely maim him in a way that (Ratchet's turn) would lead Shockwave to nurse him back to health should he be careless, maybe even suggesting a few mods to make him a tougher Decepticon than a weak Autobot.

Worried about Sari? Why, Shockwave can always make him a technorganic pet from his lab and spare parts, even give it long mechanical ears to emulate Sari's pigtails and paint it gold like Bumblebee.

If all that fails, Shockwave will just have to keep on searching, while Bumblebee will be questioning his sanity and begging the AllSpark for an escape.

honestly, love the idea of shockwave not being able to express care normally unless he's "copying" it off someone else. i like driving home the idea of shockwave kind of not even really knowing who he is as an individual without associating himself with another bot. despite how far shockwave is to how he initially was programmed to be, its like its ingrained into him to always follow what a superior says.

but idkkkkk maybe that'll change :)

and yes, i did that on purpose, until the very end where i show a kind of "mystery" universe where shockwave is holding his actual hand out and bumblebee takes it. i didnt show more of them in that bc i kinda wanted it to feel more impossible than the others (because it is).

i really like the idea that no matter what, in every universe theyre always going to end up separating. be it in good or bad circumstances, i will let you guys go wild with that idea lol.

i was rereading the jettwins section of chapter 5 to pretend nothing went wrong ever but angst brain turned on while reading them thinking of how to escape so

they do attempt an escape plan, they almost succeed but are caught- by shockwave himself, and shockwave cant have these bots trying to take his bumblebee! plus, if starscream got to destroy his sparkling's pede and optic, who's to say he can't take something from his charges?

a jet broken off from each, welded together and attached to his sparkling. they don't work, they disrupt bumblebee's transformation further, but they weigh bumblebee down, both mentally and physically. that, and it makes his sparkling look more like a proper decepticon.

anyway, i genuinely think this is kinda interesting and if it ACTUALLY happened in the game, i can see starscream very violently swerving into the "I HATE SHOCKWAVE CLUB. HE NEEDS TO HAVE HORRIBLE THINGS HAPPEN TO HIM" club. i can even imagine him deciding to just ditch the decepticons and come with bee and the jettwins after that.

shockdad has infiltrated my mind so thoroughly now that I've begun just sort of auto-implimenting it into any and every other fanfic idea I have. Like, not even as a main thing, or exclusively to my own ideas. If a fic doesn't directly feature either of them I've just started assuming their specific shitshow is happening in the bg.

This has also created a kinda funny scenario where like, everyone else is having their own toxic/tragic yaoi plots going on and Shockwave just like, glances over at everyone like "yikes, what the hell is wrong with you people. All I'm doing is psychologically torturing a teenager into being my son, you know like a normal person." Idk it's nearly midnight I'm just rambling. Bi

choose your battles guys, do you wanna go through a divorce spanning through millions of years or do you wanna kidnap a child and force them to view you as a parent???

In reference to this ask, Bee having the equivalent of a gamer vocab and a tumblr accent and it drives Shockwave crazy. Like what do you mean "then beg" when someone says "I beg your pardon" what the frag does "poggers" mean?

I think Brainrot isn't what Bee would have. He would talk like it's WoW and no one but Bulkhead understands

the fact that bumblebee canonically likes gaming i genuinely believe that he'd have gamer "lingo" ingrained into his brain. he would be the kid explaining "no i cant pause this game, its co-op!!!"

Got thinking of different approaches Shockwave could have to make Bee feel "welcome" while prisoner of the Decepticons, so seeing the kid's fighting spirit and one-liners, he decides to analyze at length Bumblebee's sense of humor in order to appeal to him while lugging him around to teach him about being a 'con.

Stuff like, hearing Lugnut chastise himself for not following Megatron's order, saying he should offline himself then and there, only for Shockwave to vocalize "Now now, no need to to do anything irrational" while loudly kicking a very sharp surgical blade in his direction, leaving Lugnut to stare at the implied threat.

Or hearing Starscream complain about some fake issue for failing a mission like his wings being weighed down by the atmosphere, and Shockwave piping up "Are you sure it wasn't your massive ego holding you down? Whatever's in your processor certainly always made your Seeker wings useless."

Just, anything that might be anywhere close (or far if he misunderstands) to Bee's brand of humor, so he can hear the kid laugh (whether he succeeds or not, your pick, but if he did, Bee would catch himself when he realizes he's laughing and pretend he was just venting out something in his system instead)

(Megatron is the only one spared from such remarks, and he's tempted to send a comm to Team Prime asking if they can keep the yellow clown minibot until he actually becomes an issue, bc it's made Shockwave very entertaining to listen to)

this is shockwave's equivalent to very loudly referencing memes to their child in order to relate to them more. as fun as it might be to imagine bee laughing along and catching himself, i think he'd genuinely just be weirded out by it.

if i were to make this worse, it would even make it seem like shockwave just cannot get a read on bumblebee whatsoever, even if it clearly makes him uncomfortable to think that shockwave would say jokes in this situation with him.
