When Emmeline asks her why she’s staring at Potter (again), she replies with “I can’t help enjoying watching Mulciber get punched in the gob, can I? It’s a sight for sore eyes” (she means Potter).

When Sirius asks her why she’s staring at his best friend, she blinks back - James Potter has fallen asleep curled up on the floor beside the fire, his glasses askew, hair wild, a wet patch of saliva on his shirt sleeve - “he’s so cute” she wants to say; she doesn’t, just blushes.

That’s after he lived in a cave and ate rats to be near Harry in case he needed him, and risked the dementors’ kiss just to watch him play Quidditch and buy him a broomstick etc…

PS re Sirius being stuck in Grimmauld Place - being repeatedly told you are less than your sibling counts as emotional abuse. Portraits are like a cartoonish version of your personality. So if Walburga screamed abuse at Sirius in her portrait form, it means she did irl even if there is no other nuance about their relationship which was obviously more complex. Given culture in 1960s-1970s where “spare the rod and spoil the child” was a firmly held belief by many and lots of schools used corporal punishment- it’s quite likely Sirius was in some way physically abused, if so possibly not in a way that left physical marks. However, even if not - Emotional abuse - everyone thinks that the impact on children is not as significant as other types of abuse.

What I’m trying to say is - him being in his childhood home reminded of what happened there and his you get brother’s death was TOUGH.

We don’t talk enough about how every institution Sirius should have been able to put his trust in betrayed him at some point. From his parents to his friends, to the light side he left everything for, to the dark side he would give anything not to be in.

The greatest irony of Sirius, is that for a person who is literally distinguished by his loyalty, a character who let himself be tortured to the brink in Wizarding hell for twelve years simply because he trusted the wrong person, a person whose animagus is literally a dog, is this: He would die, die after being kept in a cage at the urging of Albus Dumbledore and the Order he sacrificed his family for and then murdered by that very family itself. That he’d fall only after he has been utterly ruined by everyone he ever loved, everyone who he should have been able to trust, down to his house elf.

Sirius was 21 years old and lost his entire twenties to Azkaban because even Dumbledore who would bat for reformed Death Eaters and students rearing murderous spiders in his school wouldn’t consider giving him so much as a trial.

Friendly reminder that he wasn’t just locked up in a cell and left there, this was his state of affairs:

“…. he was one of the most heavily guarded in the place, you know. Dementors outside his door day and night.”

And we can infer, considering that he was a barely legal soldier raised in an abusive household that that was not a cakewalk. Dementors are terrifying torture machines even for the well adjusted let alone the traumatised.

It also speaks a lot about why he gives himself to James with such abandon and why no one else will ever hold that position in Sirius’ life. James is the only person to ever to take that love, that trust, that faith and to nurture it, protect it, to worship it. He’s Sirius’ guardian and Sirius’ salvation and Sirius’ font of security. Is it truly such a surprise that Sirius never quite recovers from his death? With James gone, where else could he go?

Sirius was the Brightest Star in the sky and apparently the only thing Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix could agree upon is snuffing out his light.

In relation to the last post I also have to be honest and say that I’ve been really trying to not bring twitter negativity to tumblr especially because I have many lovely stay friends here and the stay fandom on tumblr is super chill but most of my annoyance towards twitter kpop stans does come from seeing what twitter stays have been doing and most negative posts I wrote on here after coming from twitter unfortunately have been inspired by stays :/

Thank you for the asks! I’m choosing Have Yourself a Merry Little Wolfnoote which is a Wolfstar fic where James & Prongslet (aka tiny wingman Harry James Potter) meet with success in their attempted matchmaking of two stupid men (aka Uncle Blithering Idiot Remus & Uncle Clueless Fool Sirius) 🥳🥰

23. A fix with your favourite line

I’m not sure I could decide because there’s a few (we all get a bit sentimental about our marauders, don’t we?) but let’s just go with my favourite prongsfoot brotp line which is from Boys Don’t Cry which is a Prank fic exploring why Sirius told Snape about the Whomping Willow. I love their friendship so much:

“You’ve got me. I’m your brother now,” James said, quietly, confidently.

Sirius clenched his jaw. He would not cry, Merlin, damn it.

“You’re not my brother, Potter,” he said.

Dismissively, coldly.

He watched a flicker of hurt cross James’ face, replaced by something else.

“I know that,” James said. “But you’re mine.”
