Fake Enemies to Lovers Enjoyers: Enemies to lovers only works when [insert thinly veiled description of their fave ship’s dynamic]! Otherwise it’s abusive and toxic!!

These types want so badly for their preferred ships to be the exception to their sweeping generalizations and arbitrary limits on what can, and cannot be explored within the trope. They’re such hypocrites that want to have their cake and eat it too, they want the pleasure that comes from lording one’s perceived moral superiority over others while also enjoying the things that are so similar to what they condemn.

I beg of you…spare me the inane moralizing of your fictional preferences and please just sit down. Stop trying to move the goalposts to suit your specific preferences, stop ostentatiously moaning about what constitutes as what in regards to a broad trope like Enemies to Lovers. It’s a futile game and you look stupid trying to impose moral judgment on what is just a matter of taste

one of the reasons i didn't accept being trans sooner is because i'd look at the cishet men i know and at how they treat women in their lives, at how fucking vile they can get and how casual they are about being blatantly misogynistic, how there are usually absolutely no repercussions for any of it, and i'd think to myself "if this is what being a man is about then i don't want to be one". eventually i'd figure out that no, this isn't what being a man is about, it's just something a lot of them perpetuate, it's not inherent, you don't have to be That. so seeing other trans men who, generally speaking, should've had somewhat similar experiences, come out of it on the opposite end where they gleefully grab onto transmisogyny and have fun with it and feel justified and righteous perpetuating it is fucking baffling

is it okay if i dm you some of my old meta when i have the time? 😭 this season/carmy in particular among other things was intensely maddening to me but i really do think that syd and carmy have significant feelings for each other and in their most harmonious moments have electric chemistry (thank you JAW and Ayo) despite their respective mental and emotional (carmy especially, hoo boy! whew chile, the ghetto!) hangups - and that they can build a loving, stable, and fulfilling relationship together someday IF given the opportunities by the writers to have the healing and character development that is needed for them to do so in a convincing and realistic way

also as sweet as their interactions were, and as much as i want syd to be with someone calm and respectful who is not verbally abusive and is polite - imo - i still think lucus (marcus and luca's ship name) had better chemistry to me, sorry. sydluca is cute but the chemistry is not firing on all cylinders to me considering i've only seen their interactions in one episode thus far. maybe i'll jump ship to sydluca someday if I see more of their interactions in the future, but I highly doubt it. 😭

p.s. here's three of my old Sydcarmy edits from post s2 in the interim until I wrangle my old Sydcarmy meta text posts (I first started to do fan edits / gifs / fanfic because of sydcarmy - at its best their dynamic is THAT compelling to me - I hyperfixated on them so bad that I did almost 30 fanvid edits for them up on my channel within a six month period after season 2 dropped - will be waiting until I see what the writers do in season 4 to decide if i want to do fan edits for them ever again though) ❤️

I am frankly baffled by the lack of canon interactions between Jason and Damian. Thank god fandom has way more of them and actually does analyze their potential for a bond, because they have so many parallel themes.

Both of them are the closest to being Bruce’s actual children, all other Robin’s and mentees are in a bit of a limbo position between sidekick, partner and child, but with Jason and Damian the parental-child relationship to Bruce has been made explicit. Both have a significant relationship towards Talia as well (even though DC canon also totally sleeps on Jason and Talia’s relationship.) They both have marginalized backgrounds, Jason coming from poverty an Damian with a chinese/arab background on Talia’s side and being raised partially with cultural ideals that Bruce, as a representation of the west, rejects and attempts to correct him on.

Both Damian and Jason have to deal with Bruce’s rejection of them and Bruce’s expectations of obedience. They are both blamed and held accountable for bad behaviour without understanding of external factors of abuse to their integrity and childhood. The victim-blaming/gaslighting they endure from the narrative should be such a strong ground for them to bond over. 

While I can’t imagine either that they would get on without disagreements, they should by all means have far more understanding and sympath for each other’s position than DC will write them as.
