Rise Characterizations Pt. 5!!!!!
Okay I promised I'd share my Splinter reference notes, so here I am! Also wanna take a moment to thank everyone reblogging the prev. parts. All the tags/notes are so sweet!!! Anyway, here's our one and only Rat Man,
Splinter Character Notes
Language Habits:
Catchphrase: "HOOOOOT SOUP!!!"
Will yell "whoa/oh nelly!" when in a tight spot or stumbling around
Makes puns/dad jokes, and laughs at said jokes to himself
A poor liar, will skirt around the truth until you drop it
Penchant for interrupting people if he's not interested, devout user of "yada, yada", "ah, bup, bup, bup"
Verbalizes his attacks/moves, something his sons pick up on. Could be a habit picked up from his action star days, such moves include: lights off jitsu, and slow motion jitsu
Uses 2010's slang, (i.e. "totes", "chillaxed"), could see him incorrectly using up to date slang to embarrass his boys
In a group refers to his sons as "boys"
One by one will refer to his sons by their designated colors, but will pull out the full name (not nickname) if the situation is serious
Also refers to Donnie as "the funny one"
Personality:
A performer, well he is an actor after all. He knows how to captivate an audience. Splinter likes attention--something that may be connected to his strict childhood with high expectations--but he also performs for his boys. To keep them happy, but most importantly safe. This also means he keeps his true emotions tucked closely to his chest
Jovial. Despite his dark past and heavy responsibility thrust upon him at a young age, Splinter is always laughing. He finds the fun in everything
Secretive. As mentioned before, Splinter tends to keep things close to his chest. Despite this, he's a terrible liar. He'll just avoid the truth until it comes back to bite him in the ass. This makes him sometimes a little emotionally unavailable
Lazy. He always finds the easiest way to do something, and procrastinate on his responsibilities as long as possible
Vain. He's glory seeking for all the proper attention he lost in his youth. So the Lou Jitsu aspect of his life boosted his ego in irreparable ways. He also uses the identity of Lou Jitsu to escape from the idea of being stuck as a rat. Glorifying the past is way to find comfort for him
Adrenaline junkie. Part of that glory-seeking and glorification of the past manifests into him needing adrenaline to feel alive. (i.e. when he steals the tank)
Attentive and empathetic. He can be a little hare-brained when it comes to remembering the details, but he's always very attentive to his sons needs. In flashbacks he's shown to supply them with items needed for their interests (i.e. little Mikey gets art supplies), and always apologizes when he messes up (i.e. the conversation he had with Donnie). This empathy also extends to other people and animals, as he was sympathetic with Cassandra when she was lamenting about the foot clan and was immediately worried about the turtles Draxum had in his lab
Protective. He would sacrifice everything to save his sons, and he does
Miscellaneous:
His tail is Very expressive, and one of the most active parts of his body, so if you want to subtley show emotion I'd focus on that
Has a Lou Jitsu body pillow
Remembers all his stunt double's names
Snores loudly
Talented singer, can sing opera and lived next to a karaoke bar in Japan
The show he watches the most is called "Soapy Treadmill", a Japanese game show where they throw things like scorpions at people who are soapy on treadmills
Has a "do not touch!" cabinet, full of trophies, mystic artifacts, and mementos of his past
I have a List of all the mentioned Lou Jitsu movie names mentioned in S1, but I'm probably gonna wait till the end of my S2 rewatch and post it separately (it's also long too). Will link here!
I'm also gonna add a recommendation here at the end.
This is for the white and non East Asian folks. I'm not as well-versed in East Asian or Japanese culture, but Splinter is a first generation immigrant! He keeps a distance from his heritage because of the trauma of his youth, and the role Lou Jitsu probably also forced him to westernize his identity to make it more palpable to Hollywood. But it would be a disservice to sever parts of his identity, because one is uncomfortable or not knowledgeable in writing it.
For my white folks intimidated by writing a person of color because they want to get it right, research always helps. Research helps with everything!!! writingwithcolor here on tumblr actually has a lot of useful resources, here's their guideline, and a research chart one of their moderators created, which I personally found to be very helpful. I believe their ask box is closed right now, but if you ask questions in the future be nice!!!!
Anyway I'm gonna do April next :)

something that's incredibly important to me is how capable mari is as a person. not in the sense of her skillset, but more so her capabilities in human to human connection, compassion, and care. while she can be intensely cold, cruel, and ruthless, there is a piece of her inside that is waiting for the opportunity and safety to express itself. and that piece is soft, tender, empathetic, and wildly loyal— it's a piece of her that was taken advantage of, abused, and horribly betrayed, time and time again. when we learn, as people, that it is no longer safe to be certain aspects of ourselves, those aspects get hidden away and shoved down. whether it be in larger scopes, such as hiding these big pieces of who we are as people, or whether it be in the smaller sense, and we simply hide our mouth when we smile, our experiences shape us. when mari is given a safe environment to be able to express that, and feel comfortable in letting that piece of her grow, you often see these very vulnerable states that show just how stunted mari was in her growth. she was never given an opportunity to grow up and let those pieces of her shine, and simply hid them away to invest into these hardened, rough, and mean exteriors. while mari is capable of being the most untrustworthy person around, and holds a disconnect on not seeing people as people, she simultaneously can be the person you should trust the most in your life. she's devoted, loyal, and would go to any length for those she cares for. she's capable of being incredibly empathetic, wildly supportive, and intensely loving. but to see those pieces of her means you have to allow them to understand that it is safe to come out, so to speak. once you begin to invest into those sides of mari, the more they can develop, grow, and come to the forefront.
one of the most significant things about the breaking bad verse i'm using for my default verse is that it is a recovery narrative. mari has someone (jesse/@tocook) invest into her, devote time and effort and empathy to her, and helps cultivate a safe environment for her. with time, and plenty of bumps in the road, it means that she is able to recognize things about herself, accept things about herself, and stop fighting so hard to become someone she really isn't. she's still mean in her own ways, disrespectful, and generally kind of a menace, but the important piece of the puzzle here is that she is given a space to grow. this isn't a love heals all narrative, but it surely is a thinkpiece on how we, as people, are driven by other people and can often learn to accept ourselves through recognition and understanding. mari goes from being a hired gun, refusing herself any friends or company and drowning in her solitude, all the way to finding a new life and learning how to invest into herself in a real way. she becomes a jujitsu teacher for children, she eventually puts down the knife, and while she still surely struggles with plenty of things and does not have access to the healthcare that would fully help her heal (as she still does struggle, because again— this is not a love heals all narrative) she's able to figure out who she is as a person, and not a weapon, or a chess piece, or an asset. those neglected, stunted pieces of her are able to shine. she is able to grow up.
#out.#characterization.#sorry for the ramble i may delete this later but i'm just thinking about her so much this morning

KELSEA BALLERINI WITH NOAH KAHAN - "COWBOYS CRY TOO"
youtube
It's time to be a cowboy nooowwwww / and cowboys DO cry...
[5.78]
Julian Axelrod: Noah Kahan's email inbox must look crazy these days. After securing a string of Stick Season features from his famous friends, I can imagine him slowly working through a stack of requests for verses like he's Ty Dolla $ign in 2016. Kelsea Ballerini is among the first to cash in on the Kahanaissance, and she's not fucking around: Nothing says "I, too, would like to sell out arenas in Vermont" like an earnest folk ballad about fragile masculinity and the complicated relationships between fathers and sons. Unsurprisingly, Noah rises to the challenge, and their voices come together beautifully. But coming off a year of promoting her most "personal" work yet, it's telling that Kelsea feels most comfortable fading into the background. [5]
Katherine St. Asaph: A surprisingly tender, nuanced lament on toxic masculinity. Both Ballerini and Kahan are credited; perhaps they're to thank for the empathy? [7]
Will Adams: A comment on the lyric video by one darrensawyer-ju9bn: "Thank you for bringing attention to the fact that men have emotions too." I genuinely cannot tell if this comment is facetious or sincere. My cynical, too-online brain wants to cast off "Cowboys Cry Too" as obvious and self-serving, but there's a little seed in there that truly believes Ballerini and Kahan pull it off. It helps that their take on toxic masculinity acknowledges the generational aspect ("I grew up wishing I could close off the way my dad did") and the woman's perspective ("when he's showing his skin... that's when he's toughest to me"). It's pretty, too, which also helps. [6]
Jonathan Bradley: “Cowboys Cry Too” would like to signpost changing expectations of masculinity, but it underestimates the terrain: country music since its inception has offered an arena in which men were permitted to be more emotional and more sentimental than they can outside the honky tonk. Cowboys are complex: as well as weepers, they are creatures mommas should not want their sons to grow up to become, but they’re also frequently secretly fond of each other. Noah Kahan is not a cowboy or a country artist, but his folk ballads offer something like a Vermont corollary to the genre’s implicit Southernness. Kahan can’t deliver a melody as expertly as Ballerini, who here attempts empathy but ends up sounding stunted (boys have feelings -- who knew?), but his first-person narrative of fathers and burning “too many miles trying to ride out the sadness” paints a more nuanced portrait. But there’s also the ghost of Reba McEntire; if cowboys cry, Brooks and Dunn told us cowgirls don’t, and using that song’s motifs puts into relief how emotionally austere this one is. There’s too much Yankee stoicism here and not enough tears. [6]
Taylor Alatorre: I'm okay with country music existing in this imaginary space where everyone's either a cowboy or cowgirl, regardless of their suburb or exurb of origin. But when used in a song title like this, and especially when paired with "I never knew," the effect is rather infantilizing, like your therapist giving you advice from a Pixar movie. However, Ballerini's decision to buck the Western imagery and reach all the way to Vermont for a duet partner was improbably the correct one. If Noah Kahan has any misgivings about being typecast as a weepy folk balladeer, he doesn't show them here, as he pins down the kitschy platitudes into a more concrete narrative about fatherhood and fears of abandonment. Notably, though, he doesn't make any reference to rural life in his lyrics, suggesting that he too might be quietly ashamed of working under this banner. A good illustration of a case where keeping one's feelings bottled up really is the best option. [6]
Nortey Dowuona: Alysa Vanderheym once co-wrote a song called "Talk You Out of It" for Florida Georgia Line. Hence why, when she got to be part of a good song, she went hard in the paint with the steel guitar. [9]
Ian Mathers: "This Whole Thing Smacks Of Gender," i holler as i overturn Kelsea and Noah's overpriced-sounding milquetoast pop country song and turn its Jukebox score into the 4th of Shit [4]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Give me my "Dawns" back. [3]
Alfred Soto: The fusty tropes don't smother Kelsea Ballerini's lack of affect; she knows how to weigh her feelings by sticking to the script. Noah Kahan isn't there yet, but in a fictional world where a song about cowboys a-weepin' enters the Hot Country Airplay top five his pathos is a glass of fresh iced tea. [6]

J A C K N E V E R B O R E .
NAME: Jack Neverbore. AGE: 18-24. (Verse Dependent) DOB: March 28. NATIONALITY: Japanese American. SPECIES: Human. GENDER: Male. OCCUPATION: Vigilante Gang Leader. HEIGHT: 5'7". HAIR: Pitch Black. EYES: Burnt Umber. FACECLAIM: Izaya Orihara & Ryo Nishikido.
This gang does numerous tasks, on Jack’s side: stopping gang fights, drug wars, drug dealing and intervening with the cop’s tasks when it came to certain homicides; albeit rare. On Caleb’s side, outside their normal attires, they would do errands for the nursing homes, as well as running a homeless shelter labeled ‘The Crow’s Nest’. Both coming up to create this deal to start a ‘business’ in mind.
The members themselves are known to be reckless outside the gang, them being known as delinquents and/or criminals to some. Others, however, don’t even have records as they are not known as such outside of the activities of others. Those others are known to be ‘good kids’, ‘kind souls’, and even more than ‘A+ students’.
Yet, they are seen hanging around each other nonetheless—despite what is commonly known as their friends in their personal social groups, before ever hanging around others as themselves. Causing disdain towards those who are known with the bad rep, which seems to only cause those ‘good kids’ to cling to their friends tighter.
The unknown reason for these people’s change of relationships can only be described as association to the calling of an unknown ad from unknown origin. All thanks to the leader himself and his underground dealings.
Biography:
Jack is part of an American government experiment known as Case 404Nex, to where in his childhood days, he was severely neglected emotionally ( and is ). This caused him to be stunted in some ways to where he can have a hard time relating to people. Jack is known to be unpredictable and somewhat despicable when it comes to his past and present actions accompanied by thoughts.
He has been known to cause chaos in New York just out of pure boredom. As an example, would be pranking random civilians or causing out of the blue arguments, both to psychologically analyze the ‘victim’. As for him, he usually doesn’t see people as ‘human’ right away. This is mainly due to underlying mental illnesses, an almost irreversible consequence. And despite that he does this to get to know the unsuspecting victim of his antics, it can also backfire on him when it comes to those underlying illnesses.
This experiment is to solely analyze, ( ironic with how Jack treats others ), a human’s desire and need for emotional support; where they stand and how it affects their standing in social class, and cognitive empathy development. The question of what makes a human, a human.
Unintentionally, this caused Jack to finalize a delusion disorder called the “Defensive Actor Syndrome”, to where he believes he is somewhat in a “reality show”. Cameras and people watching him, people of the government alongside Actors watching him since he has obtained files on his eighteenth birthday telling him that he was part of the experiment. Which is also part of the experiment itself, which he had soon figured out. This has caused him to be very unkind to certain strangers that heighten his paranoia.

y'know know the song "giants" by true damage (league of legends). yeah one of those verses is very Error coded. let me explain.
"Shutting it down, been Underground
Now my people all up in this place"
pretty simple- Error is a version of Geno who glitched into the anti-void, so he's "been underground", and all of Error's puppets are Sans variants, who still live underground, but are now "all up" with him.
"I'm loco think I'm so cold
I stay stunting ain't no going back"
Error doesn't see himself as a hypocrite, since he destroys "worthless" anomalies despite being one, but instead as anomaly #1, aka first place. he is also a maniac, and cannot go back to being Sans or Geno because he is an error.
"Now they ask where QiQi's at
I'm like 'you can't hang with that'"
"Qiqi" in this context is supposed to be referring to the singer themselves, but in context of Error, it could be him talking about Ink. i believe it was comyet who said that if Ink and Error did know each other, they would probably be friends, and because of Ink's role as a protector, forgetfulness, and lack of empathy, the average person probably couldn't or want to continue hanging with him. "Qiqi" could still be Error, however, since Error hasn't had any real friends since being Sans, and finds himself superior to others.
now if only i could animate...

Decided to redraw a scene from SBR, for my crack ship (rare pairing) in FF7, sephirus.
It’s ABO AU with arranged marriage theme, they were in their late teens. Since I’ve played FF7 First Soldier, I used a military-issue long coat for Sephiroth and PS1 design for Rufus in the flashback.
Also, this ship is not meant to be healthy with happy ending, I warned you.
For the full story, just keep reading (you’re not obliged to read it though)...
Let's begin with... Sephiroth x Rufus, I call it "sephirus" for short, it's actually my OTP despite it's being highly unpopular rn, as until now they don't (have a chance to) interact at all.
But I can't help, my reason is that... sephirus will be the OP pair, Sephiroth the war hero and strongest being in FF7 verse whereas Rufus in a different way has the power as well in FF7 verse (being the heir and later President of Shinra Inc. afterall). Other reason is that Rufus' highest priority in FF7 story post his 'ascension' is chasing and stopping Sephiroth at any cost, rather than building 'moar power' like his father did.
Then with ABO element, I like the idea of O!Rufus leading Turks as his pack, and I have been influenced by an ABO fic "Day 4: Pack" when O!Cloud also rules the SOLDIERS pack. I want to implement this in my fanfic idea as well. Though in my mind, I'd like the idea of all Turks & SOLDIERS as the alphas instead of mixed dynamics.
Yeah, so it's about A!Sephiroth and O!Rufus, I want to start them as "forgotten childhood friends", I've found fellow tumblr user who has nice idea that Sephiroth & Rufus were childhood friends in the past, Papa Shinra sometimes brought Rufus to Hojo's lab & he accidentally met Sephiroth there, befriended.
According to remake timeline, Rufus should be slightly older than Sephiroth now, Rufus being born as Omega disappointed his dad, that's why he used to belittle his son according to OTWTAS: Episode Shinra.
Later, Sephiroth was born. Sephiroth is considered to be Hojo's "masterpiece" and Papa Shinra regarded him as his "golden boy", plus... he is an Alpha.
Then this idea comes, that Papa Shinra & Hojo agreed to betroth Sephiroth & Rufus because why not? For Papa Shinra, it will bring an outstanding publicity stunt for Shinra and boost his company's image in the future. A union between war hero and Shinra's heir is a dreamed union ever. For Hojo, it could be just him being ambituous and getting closer to Shinra... idk. Plus, he might be wish for Sephiroth to reproduce, he needs to know more about his specimen. For that, Hojo needs a womb, and Omega has the best womb.
Though, to be honest, 'sephirus' can't have that normal & healthy relationship, it'll be always toxic at one point. Prior to FF7 and Crisis Core, Sephiroth was this good boy with righteous moral, but Rufus was already that manipulative bastard and corrupted thanks for his dad's upbringing. He was manipulating Sephiroth in the past. By the way, although Sephiroth was still sane at the time, he was already possessive at heart (to Rufus).
I don't know whether they eventually married or not, but at least they had sex at some point. Flashforward to Sephiroth's madness, Rufus lost his leash over him. And what Cloud did to him during his madness, Sephiroth began to obsess with him.
sephirus unofficially breaks up, but in public they're still technically engaged (or married). Sephiroth was declared dead as in canon, so it looks like Rufus became a widow.
However, when 'Sephiroth' comes to kill Papa Shinra, it is rumoured that he did it for Rufus.
And it is not known whether Rufus eventually fell for Sephiroth.
Up to here, I don't have a clear idea anymore, but the end-game pairs would be 'sefikura' ... or 'barukura'/'zakura' and 'tsengru' ... or 'Rufus x Turks'.
The irony of sephirus would be that when it was about Rufus' manipulating good boy Sephiroth, now the tide has turned. As Rufus rediscovered his empathy and Sephiroth fell into the madness, it becomes about good guy Rufus' stopping the calamity which is Sephiroth.
Now let's talk about the babies, I have the idea to turn cancelled!Stella Nox Fleuret into Stella Shinra, she would be the daughter of sephirus. Born in September 4th [ μ ] - εγλ 1997 (she will be 10 years old in remake timeline), her birth will be spectacular as the sole Shinra heir, the Alpha female and (technically) Jenova's granddaughter.
Then about sefikura's babies, I think I will just follow Goddess of Royalty’s ABO version of 'Cloud is the Remnants Carrier' Verse.
My FF7 ABO world-building:
All Turks are Alpha, because sometimes they need pheromone and Alpha's growl for intimidation (usually during bodyguarding) but mostly they pose as Beta, using scent blocker (for espionage purpose).
All scientists are Beta, except Grimoire, Hollander and Hojo (which makes them Alpha). And that's how Hojo considers Omega as 'treasure'.
Omega male has better tolerance to mako than Omega female, but they are very rare in number (hence, even Cloud's mako intolerance is still considered better than how Omega female would reacts).
There is no written dynamic requirement to join SOLDIERS, but there is also hidden rule that they will dismiss Omega. It is just coincidence that the ones who make it into First Soldiers are all Alpha, while most Third ranked are Beta.
Cloud is a late bloomer, he actually was presenting during Nibelheim's incident.
So yeah, it's more or less like that for now. Thank you for reading this, have a nice day!

Why Bones & Spock NEED Each Other (Grief)
So over my tenure in this fandom I’ve seen some one sided stuff about Bones being mean to Spock, and vice versa and I’m like
Thing is y’all: You’re both right, but you’re also both wrong!
Bones is mean to Spock you’re right! But you know what? That’s a good thing!
Spock is mean to Bones because of course he is! And guess what? That’s also a good thing!
They both need it, and they can only get it (safely) from each other! What they have is (in a weird way) healthy! But it’s only healthy for these two specifically because they understand each other so well!
Prime examples? Somebody has died or gone missing (usually Jim)!
Let’s talk about how Spock & Bones grieve!
Let’s address how each character (generally) moves through the 5 stages of grief
Bones: Anger, Denial, Depression, Bargaining, Acceptance
Spock: Bargaining, Denial, Depression, Anger, Acceptance
They are each individually perfectly equipped to handle each other’s grief (or refusal to grieve)!
Bones initial reaction to death is usually Anger, he blames himself and anyone in proximity. Quickly followed by a weird form of denial, in which he doesn’t deny someone is dead, but he denies that other people think the person is gone and that they felt it when it happened because he’s dunked so hard under his own grief his usually high empathy has switched off.
Now, Bones is highly familiar with grief as a medical professional (and having lost his father). He establishes how important and deeply believes in that process in And The Children Shall Lead.
I think Bones is acutely aware of how he grieves, and is equally aware that throwing these feelings out at just anybody could really hurt them.
But Spock isn’t just anybody, he’s a (half) Vulcan, it’s like shouting at a brick wall, Bones knows Spock can take it. I also believe Spock understands that this state is temporary, which is why he handles it with such grace.
What happens when Bones isn’t able to go off at (not truly “on”) Spock is that Bones keeps that anger to himself and gets bordering-on-suicidal (Depression phase of grief). It happens in Miri (self injection), For The World is Hollow & I Have Touched The Sky (trying to stay behind), and The Empath (the whole freakin episode). Jim is good for comfort, but Spock is good for a slap in the face reality check.
They both know that. It’s why they’re still friends despite how much shit they throw at each other
Not only that, but Bones (almost) ALWAYS apologizes, from their worst fights I can rattle off:
“They were wrong, and I was wrong I’m sorry” (Paradise Syndrome)
“Pawns huh? Well if it makes any difference, this pawn is extremely sorry.” (Day of The Dove)
“Spock I- I’m sorry, it does hurt doesn’t it?” (The Tholian Web)
And that’s not including implied/non-verbal apologies.
Bones needs Spock to help him grieve because otherwise he’s gonna take an emotional nosedive toward attempted Martyrdom. Spock’s stoicism punctured by occasional genuiness helps Bones move to the Bargaining stage (making peace with Spock and everything that’s happened) and later Acceptance.
The inverse of this is also true so let’s address how Bones uses his belligerent nature to jump start Spock’s healthy grieving process!
Bones grieving style (and his confrontational nature in general) is uniquely suited to make Spock honor his Human side, his emotions in the matter. Because we know a softer touch (like Jim’s) while more comfortable for Spock, seldom cracks open that wall of emotional repression unless Jim’s in danger.
Bones doesn’t give a shit, and that ultimately a good thing! Both he and Spock constantly need to be directly shoved against their default reactions to interpret things in a balanced way, which is why they’re perfect for each other.
Without Bones, Spock would never let himself grieve, ever. We also know that, more deeply than Spock, Bones understands grief and how to move through it, he’s familiar with loss (which is why I think he’s so quick to accept someone is dead whenever it happens, it’s the reaction of someone whose had to lose a lot of people and is more comfortable grieving than hoping). There’s a lot of evidence for this in Gamesters of Triskellion & Return To Tomorrow.
He also honors Spock’s human half a lot more than Spock does, it’s one of the fundamental power sources for Bones & Spock’s “the racism’s mutual” banter. And it is mutual, I feel like people forget how often Spock compares modern humans to the worst examples of their/his ancestors and treats them as inferior out of internalized hatred and the general xenophobic attitudes of Vulcan culture. Bones of course responds in kind, usually in cockamamy insults, he’s not as well versed in Vulcan history as Spock is in Human. Although I admit Bones does start it a lot, I think arguing accounts as a love language for him lmao.
So when Bones sees Spock trying to stunt and stifle his grieving process, especially since Bones knows he’s at least partly human and it is affecting Spock’s judgement, it hits literally ALL of Bones nerves.
Bones uses reverse psychology to get Spock to admit he is human and he has feelings ALL THE TIME especially where Jim is concerned. Bread & Circuses, The Immunity Syndrome, The Tholian Web & Requiem for Methuselah!
Spock will absolutely refuse to grieve or at least move on from the self-destructive bargaining/denial loop he gets trapped in unless Bones smacks him around a little. Just like how Bones will get self-destructive unless Spock recenters him via logic.
Again, I think on a subconscious level they both know that, and it’s why they never take each other’s smack downs to heart.
An excellent example, Chekov’s “death” in Spectre of The Gun:
Spock isn’t grieving, but everyone else is, Spock was close to Pavel but isn’t letting himself feel it, which could later backfire. Bones is currently grieving, but there’s no time to grieve because they’re all gonna die in 20 minutes if they don’t find a solution to their dilemma.
Transcript & Breakdown:
Bones: You talk about another man’s [Jim’s] feelings? What do you feel Spock?!
Are you grieving? He was like son to you you’re not acknowledging it, again.
Spock: My feelings are not subject for discussion Doctor.
No, and I’m not going to, leave me alone.
Bones: Because there are are no feelings to discuss!
Well I’m grieving! And I’m gonna reverse psychology your Vulcan ass until you start your grieving process so that I can move on!
Scotty: Mr. Spock Chekov is dead! I say it now and I can hardly believe it, but you worked closely with him! That deserves some memorial!
Bones: Spock will have no truck with grief Scotty, it’s human.
Alright, that first comment didn’t work, maybe “insulting” him will get that thick head of his to acknowledge his feelings.
Jim: Bones! Scotty!
Spock: It’s quite alright Captain, they forget I am half human.
Fine, yes I am grieving for Pavel in my own way. Are you satisfied Dr. McCoy?
Bones: [looks surprised and thoughtful, satisfied with Spock’s answer]
Wow, you said you were human without any disgust this time... huh... good job.

self-indulgent, ( mostly ) comprehensive, angel verse headcanon and lore dump for leah!
last edited: april 12th, 2022
part one: basic lore and notable traits and characteristics
in this verse’s lore, some angels are humans reincarnated to be angels, and some are simply created and have never had a mortal identity tied to them. leah’s creation as an angel was a flawed reincarnation — it was soon realized that she still possessed many mortal flaws ( e.g. impulsivity, possessiveness, lust, selfishness ) that either existed when she was human or were somehow introduced in the process of her reincarnation. it was incredibly alarming to the archangels to see such a thing happen, and it was speculated that this incomplete purification was a result of some sort of sabotage, though it is unknown as to how or why it occurred.
some took the new angel’s creation to be a sign that leah had some sort of inherent evil in her, which was why she still had “sinful” tendencies. man himself is imperfect however, and some in heaven took leah’s creation to be representative of the original sin, when adam and eve betrayed god in the garden of eden by listening to the serpent, such that she is symbolic of the sin all man enter the world carrying until they are cleared of it, like through baptism in catholicism.
this assumption was supported with the fact leah seemed to have acted purely out of instinct in order to satisfy her own needs, her own decisions made with little regard to anyone else’s. this seemed to have suggested that she was in a primitive state of existing despite being divine. as such, the archangels made the collective decision to teach the new angel the ways of heaven in an attempt to educate her and limit how often she acted on instinct, imbuing in her a sense of empathy, responsibility, and modesty. all was done in the hopes of straightening her out, of “washing away” her sins.
compared to other angels, leah is practically a baby due to how recent her creation was compared to others. there are physical differences between leah and the other angels that make it very apparent to anyone, mortal or otherwise, that something is off about her if they see her angel form. her wings are an off-shade of white and are much duller when compared to other angels. in certain lighting, it may even seem that her wings are a pale grey, and it’s most noticeable when she’s standing next to another angel. due to her age, her wings are small, but many angels wonder if the size of her wings also relate to the fact that she’s so stunted and premature in terms of how fit she is to carry out the duties of an angel. she’s very conscious of the state of her wings, and if attention is drawn to them, she will get very defensive about them.
as mentioned earlier, leah’s driven by pure instinct – in other words, she’s very impulsive and will act on what feels good to her in the moment rather than what’s logical. this causes a lot of problems when it comes to her training since her training focuses heavily on self-discipline and control. to act off of instinct is considered primitive, and it leads to leah “misbehaving.” unlike what the other angels think, however, she’s far from corrupted or evil. while she will engage in behaviors that are usually looked down upon in her community of angels, such as sexual activities, she has no true desire to go against heaven’s teachings and overthrow the “system”. she has good intentions, but due to a selfishness in her, she cares little about what she’s supposed to do and focuses more on what she wants to do. so if heaven wants her to behave like an angel, it would have to make her want to rather than force its principles on her.
being so young in age as well, she’s very childish and will behave as so. she’ll whine, she’ll pout, she’ll cry. she may even throw a tantrum if provoked enough. but she’s also very impressionable, which makes her vulnerable to being influenced by those who seek to do harm, either to her or those around her. while she lacks some understanding of morals, she does know that it’s wrong to hurt others, but she’s less aware of how much danger others can pose to her, especially those who hold more power than her. because of this childish nature of hers, she’s very likely to wander on her own and go off on adventure since she’s fearless, yet at the same time, she’s very naive and too trusting.
because of her curiosity, leah adores going down to earth to interact with humans ( though her chaotic nature leads to her causing a lot of trouble when she’s down there ). when interacting with humans ( or anyone, really ), she lacks a clear understanding of social cues, meaning that she does not know how to read a situation and react appropriately in that situation. she really will just speak what’s on her mind even if it’s inappropriate, so some gentle coaching will be needed for her to understand what’s appropriate and what’s not.
love is something she can understand and wishes to experience, and this isn’t just relevant to romantic love either. she wishes to spread positivity and develop meaningful relationships with those around her, even if the other is someone she technically should keep boundaries with. to love, for leah, is to care deeply about someone unconditionally, to want to see the other grow and be happy. it’s important to note that she has no concept of romance in the context of sexual relations, however, so when she gets intimate with others during those times where she seeks pleasure, it’s likely that she sees that interaction solely as one to satisfy carnal desires. for leah to love another person in this verse, there needs to be more than just physical attraction. physical attraction is enough for her to pique her interest, but she may want to pursue something simply physical at the very start unless more effort is made to get her to grow attached to your muse in a deeper way.
a lot of what angel leah knows about interpersonal relationships and complex emotions like love comes from films, tv shows, books, ect that she somehow manages to get ahold of and experience while she’s hanging out in the human world. she questions how real it all is, but seeing how others react in certain situations has helped her to get a better grasp at her own emotions, especially when most of the time, she’s always content and doesn’t really change too much day to day. she doesn’t really understand the nuances behind different types of relationships just yet, but when strong emotions are felt by her, she can assume that it’s more than just a familial or platonic kind of relationship, which she has experienced while in heaven.
part 2: why hasn’t she fallen?
so logically, angel leah should have been kicked out of heaven a long time ago just because of how strict rules and expectations are in heaven and all that jazz surrounding maintaining purity and abstaining from sin. logically, leah should have fallen the moment the archangels realized something went wrong in her creation, and even if they didn’t know something went wrong, the moment she went out and slept with someone would have certainly been her downfall. that’s how it should be going.
instead, she’s been given an incredibly generous second chance at redemption and reformation that’s she absolutely wasting, but she makes enough of an effort to make it seem as though she still has the potential to change. at her core, angel leah doesn’t want to just give up being an angel; it’s not that she hates the lifestyle or feels disdain towards her peers. things aren’t ideal, but she’s still relatively proud to be an angel. this is why it would take a lot of convincing for her to give up being an angel entirely. her whole identity surrounds being an angel even if she doesn’t act like one, so to give that up is something incredibly scary for her even if the new lifestyle would be more freeing and fulfilling.
so she wants to remain an angel, and yet she’s still so quick to sleep with someone or wander into hell? which are two things that an angel shouldn’t do? yeah – and she’s gonna get away with it for a while. what makes it complicated for the archangels to just make her fall is the fact that she’s so young compared to them. she’s still considered a child, and as such, this is like that phase where leah’s suppose to be figuring shit out and making mistakes and getting into trouble. it’s very annoying and bothersome for her superiors, but they’re at a standstill when it comes to whether or not they can vote her off the heavenly island, especially since this is the first time they’ve seen something like this in a new angel. they’ve already given her the chance to unlearn her flawed behavior, though, and they can’t take it back. not really, anyway. so basically, leah gets to fuck around for a bit, even if it pisses off literally everyone in heaven.
but on the same vein – this means there are people who are literally waiting for her to fuck up so badly that they have no choice but to kick her out. what constitute that though? idk maybe murder or something actually criminal rather than just having sex most likely. getting involved with a demon romantically/sexually certainly has potential, but i imagine her superiors already saw that coming from like a mile away so it still falls into the “leah’s doing stupid shit again because she’s impulsive and can’t be bothered to listen to us” category rather than “you’re a terrible creature who’s poisoning heaven” category.
part 3: angelic abilities
important note: while she is an angel, leah’s far from op because she’s incredibly flawed, inexperienced, and kind of dumb lmao so she’s not really the all-powerful being a lot of media make angels out to be. still, she has some abilities that make her stronger than a human ( but still far weaker than most other beings ):
object creation and manipulation: leah can will objects into creation from thin air and manipulate them ( e.g. moving a cup towards her so she doesn’t have to get up; snap her fingers and your laundry is folded ). sometimes object creation is unreliable if it’s a larger item, but small things are easy for her to create.
altering appearance: distinct from shapeshifting – leah can’t change her physical form to be that of another being or thing, but what she can do is change her outward appearance at will. this includes cosmetic changes ( e.g. hair or eye color, eye shape, height, ect ) and spontaneous wardrobe changes.
flight: she purposely avoids showing off her wings on account of how much she dislikes them, but even without them visibly present, she possess the ability to float. with her wings, leah is able to fly to much greater heights and distances, which can help her travel to different locations on earth and between different realms.
healing: very unreliable, but possible. with enough focus, leah’s able to heal wounds, or, if they’re very severe, slow bleeding until proper first aid can be administered. not recommended to rely on her to save your life because she’s so inexperienced that there’s no telling how well her powers can work.
high tolerance: given how she’s not human, alcohol and drugs don’t affect her the same way as it would a person her size. they have little to no affect, actually, but she still chooses to have a drink now and then for the fun of social drinking. pain is something she can also tolerate fairly well, though it’s still unpleasant for her if it’s to a high and uncontrolled degree. still, physical pain does less damage to her than it would a human, so her limits extend much further than for a mortal.
immortality: of course, death does not affect an angel the same way as it would a human. that isn’t to say there’s no way to kill an angel, but it’s significantly more difficult to. death by the hand of an archangel as punishment is something leah is acutely aware of, especially since she knows her creation threatens what her superiors try so hard to uphold. her existence is at the hands her superiors, but it’s perhaps more likely that she falls from heaven than be obliterated from existence.
part 4: angelic abilities [ lewd edition ]
she’s a big participant in hook up culture, and she definitely has made a lot of friends with benefits over the years that she reconnects with whenever she’s in the area to visit them. while it’s inaccurate to say that she fears commitment, it’d also be inaccurate to say that she’s actively seeking love whenever she sleeps with someone. angel leah is, quite frankly, just not emotionally mature enough to make that nuanced distinction that exists between love, infatuation, and obsession, so it’s hard for her to know when she’s fallen for someone unless they go down a very clear cut path of “hey, do you want to be exclusive? i really want to spend my life with you.”
anyway, here’s a look into what you can expect from my angel girl in bed 8):
high pain tolerance and immortality: these two things were mentioned in the section before, but lemme tell you how they affect leah in the bedroom ( as if you can’t imagine ) — having a high pain tolerance means she can really endure rough play in the bedroom, and while extreme, uncontrolled infliction of pain ( like genuine torture ) will negatively affect her, consensual bdsm play typically doesn’t tend to be a problem for her. and seeing as how she can’t die through typical means, she doesn’t really have the same fear around risky activities, like choking, as normal leah. keep in mind though: just because leah can survive and endure really extreme sadomasochistic play, that doesn’t mean she’ll enjoy it if things are too intense.
there are just some acts she doesn’t find the appeal in, like knifeplay that involves actually cutting the skin or wax play. she still has what she likes and what she doesn’t like in the bedroom even if she can allow someone to literally reenact their wildest fantasies with her, though angel leah typically is more experimental than normal leah on what she will and won’t do since she can do quite a bit more without repercussions.
safe vs. unsafe sex: as an angel, she’s always understood how sex can lead to pregnancy due to how sex is seen as a means for procreation ( only ) in her heavenly teachings, and she can understand the concept of protection in situations where pregnancy ( and disease ) is unwanted. however, considering how it’s very unlikely that leah can bear her own biological children and how she can’t contract mortal diseases, she doesn’t really see the need for her to use protection. this leads to her engaging in what’s commonly seen as risky sexual behavior with a lot of people, and she generally does prefer unprotected sex because leah enjoys messy sex. that isn’t to say she’s anti-protection though; if her partner wants to use a condom, or if a mess just is super inconvenient for the time being for whatever reason, yeah let’s break out a condom!
body hair: she can technically change her outer appearance, so i mean, she could choose to have or not have body hair if she wanted to for whatever reason. generally, though, she doesn’t like having body hair on her, and she hates pubic hair even more, so she definitely opts for a very clean, smooth look when it comes to her bikini area. sometimes, she’ll opt for very trimmed hair to change things up, but generally, you can expect her to look like she’s gotten a brazilian wax.
gag reflex: echoing what i’ve said before about how angel leah can do more than what normal leah can, angel leah lacks a gag reflex. she’s just built differently; like does she really need one to begin with? these are the important questions to ask. jkjk — in all seriousness though, this just means angel leah won’t gag when she’s going down on a homie, or when a homie decides to be rougher with her when she’s got them in her mouth, though she can still get uncomfortable if things get pushed too far and that might make her upset if it comes out of the blue, so don’t do that!
sensitivity and arousal: she really enjoys foreplay. she thinks that’s where most of the fun is, so she’ll never say no to foreplay even if, generally, it doesn’t take much for her to get aroused in the first place. a quickie really can be a quickie when it comes to her, but what’s the fun in always having quickies? she loves the back and forth of teasing that can come with foreplay and the intimate slow build up that foreplay can allow for, and considering how angel leah is a lot more sensitive to touch than normal leah, having her partner touch or kiss her all over really gets her going. moreover, if you ever get the privilege of seeing her wings while in bed, that’s not only her trusting you enough to be incredibly vulnerable in front of you, but that’s also her giving you permission to touch and play with her wings, which are also super sensitive. don’t pull on them though — she doesn’t have that many feathers to spare alskdlksa

why do I keep seeing other ppl w bpd say they have high empathy?
like for me my ‘empathy’ levels are very low - as it were, and they fluctuate depending on who I'm with (have cognitive empathy for someone but not affective etcetc), or what the situation is (tho usually the only time I can really show affective empathy is when the situation is similar to smth i’ve experienced), idk if thats a thing but I know for a fact I have quite low empathy to begin with, its just I make an effort now to try and be a bit more aware of things tho most of the time its faked (bc its almost like u know thats what yr supposed to do but u can’t rly ‘feel’ it so u just try and make an effort to do it and say a generic thing about what u think that person wants to hear, bc yr like trying to ‘stop’ them being sad) - but I don’t really agree w empathy being high in bpd, but then again ppl experience the disorder so differently, and I did grow up in an environment where no one showed any empathy towards each other, and it was a very hostile environment and every ‘kind’ act towards each other had ulterior motives, and was ‘fake’ so what do I know 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ (also usually gifts were a thing that were given all the time when u had upset someone, or when someone was sad or w/e bc I think ‘gifts’ make ppl happy so thats what my fam have done ???) empathy isn’t something I'm even familiar w to begin with bc in my family its ‘faked’ a lot of the time, but also very very low with everyone. or they just don’t show empathy towards each other. like no one in my family knows anything about how to understand or show care towards each other so???
the type of false empathy from my family was bc of manipulation tactics, or w/e but for me its like ‘I know its what I'm supposed to do, idk how to do it but I have to also think very carefully about what I should say and what I should do, and what I think that person wants me to say/ or do - also if ppl struggle w this as well watching lots of ‘dramas’ and see what those ppl are saying and doing to show ‘empathy’ and stuff also helps idk???
idk if this makes much sense bc empathy isn’t something I'm well versed in or know much about so?? I almost have a ‘child’ view on the world and a lot of other things bc my emotional and mental ‘growth’ was ‘stunted’ as it were - probably due to trauma/abuse and a lot of other things so also if ppl are wondering why I talk the way I do thats why I'm like mentally a 8/9 year old or smth and I'm always constantly in a child ego like state so idk lmao
is this a bpd thing idk or another pd thing ???????????? idk wtf lol
#this sound rly confusing but yh idk lmao#comforting ppl is not my thing either#this sounds weird n like idek much about empathy so idk wtf#personal//#actuallybpd#bpd tag#bpd things#cluster b#lmao what's empathy again?????

Sean and Cale 😈
send 2 names for the ult. ship meme! || x || no longer accepting
...Well. I did say crackships were fair game, didn’t I? ALRIGHT. skglsg I’ll do my best, Nonnie, but this is going to be hard. I’m tagging @obsessionsarenotforheroes ‘coz... IDK if this is you or not, but since you’re my Cale, I’m obligated to notify you of every Cale-related ask I get. 😂 Andddd this’ll be set in my Pyramid and/or Overexposure verses because that’s the only way I can see this happening.
General:
Rate the Ship - Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs | (I could potentially be convinced because you have uncovered my weakness for the hero/villain trope. Granted, I have no idea how this could work, but... I could be convinced. Maybe. Bribed with angst and all the delicious ups and downs and psychological digs of toxic hero/villain ships.)
How long will they last? - I guess if they’re getting romantic, Sean’s pretty far gone psychologically and emotionally. So. As... long as Cale wants him around...?
How quickly did/will they fall in love? - I’m not sure I can call it love. I don’t know if Stockholm Syndrome is still considered a valid condition, but it’d certainly have to be something like that for Sean to even consider it “love”. He’d be starved for affection and validation and the better he behaves, the more rewards he gets from Cale, the more I think that Sean could mistake that hunger for any kind of affection as love. So. It took a long time for Sean, at least. Years and years of being worked down and stuck in relative isolation with no one but Cale as company.
How was their first kiss? - Hm. Cold. Not good. Manipulative, probably.
Wedding:
Who proposed? - Neeeither? Even in a scenario where they somehow had a romantic relationship, I can’t see them getting married. Cale just doesn’t seem like the marrying type. They can be murder husbands symbolically.
Who is the best man/men? - N/A.
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - N/A.
Who did the most planning? - N/A.
Who stressed the most? - Sean. He’s always stressed. But. N/A.
How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - N/A.
Sex:
Who is on top? - Cale.
Who is the one to instigate things? - Probably Sean? If only because I think Cale’s drive is much lower than Sean’s.
How healthy is their sex life? - (NOTHING ABOUT THIS RELATIONSHIP IS HEALTHY but) Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 (3-4, maybe. Really can’t see it much, and usually only because Sean needs physical affection much more than Cale.) | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? - Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head (I choked. You know PRECISELY why I had to bold this one...)
How long do they normally last? - I dunno about Cale, but Sean usually goes 11-15 minutes on average. In most relationships he really enjoys a lot of foreplay, and I don’t think this would be any different if he has romantic feelings for Cale, but... I don’t know if Cale would let him drag out foreplay for any longer than necessary? I don’t know. Cale just doesn’t seem very sexual to me, and even if he was the one being pleasured, I don’t think he’d want it to last very long.
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? - ...Probably not. I don’t think Cale would be too concerned about whether or not Sean orgasms, but that’s probably okay with Sean most of the time. He’s a giver more than a receiver and as long as he gets physical affection in some shape or form, he can live with taking care of his sexual needs himself.
How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 (???) | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? - No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? - None. I can’t see Cale wanting children, but especially a surrogate.
How many children will they adopt? - None. They should not have children and Sean wouldn’t want them anyway. I think even broken as far as Overexposure!Sean would be, he would understand that children have no place with Cale, and that they wouldn’t foster a good environment for one. However, just to entertain this AU, I’ll answer the other questions...
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Sean.
Who is the stricter parent? - Cale. Control, order, manners... that poor child would have to be near perfect by age six.
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Sean. But I can see Cale scolding them, too.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Cale probably has a maid make their child’s lunches, but... Sean would enjoy packing their lunch himself.
Who is the more loved parent? - Uhh... probably Sean. Even in his Overexposed verse, Sean still retains a lot of his charming, soft personality. He just has a really twisted view of the world and only has empathy for a few select people (his child would be one of those people).
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - Cale does it to keep appearances, Sean goes more often because Cale is frequently busy.
Who cried the most at graduation? - Neither.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - LOL this one’s ironic. Probably Cale. He’d bribe his kid to freedom. The child could literally murder all of their classmates and they’d get off scot-free.
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? - Cale, mostly because he has a specific diet and routine that he likes to stick to and Sean must adhere to it. But they also sometimes have a hired chef.
Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Cale. Portions must be so large, arranged just so, and cut precisely to his liking. I don’t know if Miss T. will agree, but I do sort of enjoy the idea that Cale is vegetarian, possibly vegan?
Who does the grocery shopping? - Mmm... Sean. But delivery is preferred.
How often do they bake desserts? - Rarely. Mostly for special occasions.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Salad.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Cale.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Cale. Even once they’re on a far more even playing field and Sean has begun to carry out his own kills independently of Cale, he’s still somewhat subservient to him out of habit and is less likely to make suggestions.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? - Neither, but... Sean, if I had to pick.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? - Both, but Cale will always be the most meticulous.
Who is really against chores? - Neither.
Who cleans up after the pets? - Both. They care for the horses equally.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Neither. Sean would never. Cale would be displeased if he ever found out.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Sean. It’s strange, but after being alone for so long, despite wishing to interact with other people, at that point in his life, they would make him more anxious than anything.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - Sean. He always checks for spare change around the house.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Sean.
Who takes the dog out for a walk? - Both? But I don’t think they’d have a dog unless Sean convinced Cale. They’re much more horse people, and they’d exercise their horses equally.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Maybe a little around Christmas, purely for appearance, but if no one will be around to see, I doubt Cale decorates. Sean would like to, but he’s convinced himself that it’s unnecessary clutter.
What are their goals for the relationship? - Jeez. I don’t even know. What goals do you have when you’re a serial killer couple? I don’t think I can answer this one.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Neither. Cale and Sean stick to a strict regimen and their days always begin early.
Who plays the most pranks? - Neither.

Worldbuilding/Magic Handbook (updated)
Hey, fellas, I recently found my old google doc which explains my headcanons (across the various AUs and verses), including magic, humans, monsters of all species, food, stats, fighting, etc. Everything I could possibly think of! I looked through it, added a fair amount of stuff, and clarified a few examples. I doubt very many people are seriously interested in the details, but I figured I’d throw it up here anyway, just in case someone wants to read it. It’s under a cut for length!
How does magic work for humans with magic?
-Humans all have souls, and souls are all made up of magic. Thus, all humans have at least a little bit of magic within them. The amount of magic and the ability to wield it vary from person to person. ‘Most’ people are unaware of the magic in their bodies and are incapable of using it, but could, with a lot of time and effort, learn how to channel and use it but are never given the chance. A minority are completely unable to use it, and a minority have enough of it/enough of a natural talent/enough of a bloodline that they can use it without training or influence, and training will help them hone it. For example, one OC, Psyche, has enough natural magic in her that she can use it at will, though it took her some time to work out how and what her limits are. Another OC, Naomi, has a deeply magical bloodline that she, too, can use it with some effort, but does not have the discipline to hone it until underground/near enough magic for her body to get used to it.
How do monster bodies work?
- Monsters have weaker, greyish souls, and their bodies are physical manifestations of those souls that are partially due to lineage and environment, and partially up to the individual monster’s decisions. For example, monsters will have characteristics of their parents, and will tend to have bodily functions appropriate for where they live (monsters who live in snowdin are resistant to cold, monsters who live in hotland are resistant to heat, monsters who live in waterfall can almost all swim and either love or need water, etc). However, other aspects of their bodies and magic are shaped due to conscious or subconscious actions and thoughts. For example, even though magical bodies don’t have real muscles or organs, an Undyne has shaped her body to look muscular due to rigorous training and intent to be strong. Her body is mimicking what organic bodies do when put under the same circumstances. This works the same way for skeleton ecto. A skeleton like my fell!Papyrus, Vex, who trains a lot, has very toned ecto that mimics muscle and is even a bit harder in firmness, whereas a skeleton like his brother Red, who spends a lot of time laying around but is still fit enough to fight, has softer ecto with more rounded edges and volume to it. Essentially, monster bodies are only made up of magical manifestations and cannot truly bleed (though skeleton monsters do have marrow), but have the outward appearance of having all of the functions of any organic creature and can be modified in the same ways.
- Monster bodies need certain amounts of ventilation throughout their lives. A monster that does not wield magic often enough can get ‘stuffed up’ and sick. This is rare for adults, who know how to properly vent and use magic but may rarely chose not to do so/be otherwise unable to do so (magic suppressors are an example), but common in children, who have not yet learned the intricacies of venting magic on a day-to-day basis. The symptoms of this monster sickness are similar to the common cold in humans: fever, stuffed up feeling, sneezing or runny nose if the monster has a nose, fatigue, and an achey feeling. It generally clears up in a few days, and there is medicine to help (which is black and tarry and children don’t tend to like it).
- Generally speaking, gender is flexible for monsters. Certain species have concretely-defined genitalia (for example, dog monsters, bunny monsters, etc), certain species have no genitalia and reproduce solely through soul interaction (for example, moldsmal, other small fry, sometimes certain elementals), and yet others are somewhere in between and can go in either direction (for example, fire elementals and skeletons).
- In the same vein, unless the monster is of the type that has concretely-set genitalia and does not use asexual/soul-based reproduction, monsters of any gender can conceive. The easiest example of this is the fluidity of skeleton genitalia, and whichever skeleton happened to have the female genitalia on during conception winds up being the ‘mother’ regardless of gender. In terms of soul-based reproduction, typically fire elementals, the partners make a conscious decision as to which soul receives the excess magic to become the mother. For example, Grillby and his wife connected via the soul and Grillby intentionally imparted enough of his own magic on hers to conceive. This process is not guaranteed, much like human pregnancies, but has a higher conception rate than using humanoid genitalia.
- Monster bodies are also influenced by emotion and situation. The most obvious example is a monster’s stats. ATK and DEF can go up with training and certain mindsets for most monsters, although some are completely incapable of raising these stats (usually Sanses, and usually for emotional reasons. Red’s disabilities are an exception). Monsters like Vex and my swap!Sans Legall have inflated their ATK and DEF to very impressive levels through a lot of effort and training. Other monsters, like boss monsters, have more naturally high ATK and DEF, but even they can build it up more with enough training and intent. This is why, for example, fell!Asgore is even stronger than classic!Asgore despite their bodies being otherwise very similar.
- In a similar vein, ATK and DEF can suddenly tank due to emotions. The easiest example of this is how the fallen human can SPARE Toriel up until the point where she gives in, and then suddenly kill her in one hit even when not in a genocide run due to her DEF dropping.
- HOPE is another stat that is influenced by surroundings and emotions. HP has a general minimum and maximum according to monster species, and falling below that minimum is an indicator of poor health, typically mental health. A monster who starts to suffer from depression may start to lose HOPE and become weaker. However, there are certain exceptions where poor physical health influences the HOPE stat as well (Red has a combination of both of these factors). When HOPE falls too low, a monster may begin the Falling Down process. Typically, the process first manifests in sluggishness, a bleaker outlook and maybe even sad or nihilistic talk. Following that, the affected monster will begin to cough. This is the most noticeable symptom, and the most cause for alarm. The monster will begin to cough up dust and become fatigued. They will be bedridden until they either recover (unlikely by this point) or complete the Falling Down process and dust.
- Magic can be equated to heat, in most cases. Monsters’ bodies are generally hotter than human bodies by nature, especially if they have good magic control and/or depending on their type (fire elementals and dragons tend to be the hottest, lizards and water elementals tend to be cooler, etc). Poor magic control or poor conditions resulting in a lack of food can cause monster bodies to be unhealthy and cool/cold. For example, in Horrorfell, when the starvation is rampant, the Sans, Arum, may feel ill and be cold to the touch.
- Shielding the soul (as done in Lust verses) prevents most attacks from doing real damage and bringing down HP, most notably physical damage. An extreme amount and certain magical attacks can still cause damage, and severe duress can cause the monster in question to drop their shield.
How can monsters consciously wield magic?
- Different types of monsters tend to use different types of magic, and this is based on lineage, environment, and personal preference. Intent is very important, but not everything. For example, although most monsters have the inherent ability to wield green magic (healing magic), their ability to wield it varies. My Papyri tend to be better at it than my Sanses, mainly due to empathy reasons (higher empathy makes for easier healing) and sometimes due to bodily reasons (Red has a combination of finding difficulty in truly empathizing, and also being stunted in specific magics for biological reasons, green magic included).
- Colors match magic types in some cases, and sometimes correlate to soul colors, but not always.
- Cyan magic (or blue attacks) correlate to patience and require patience to counter. Light blue attacks harm you if you move through them, and are harmless if you stay still. A monster can cast light blue magic on their soul to make all incoming attacks harmless while they are motionless, for a short period of time. Several types of monsters can use light blue attacks, generally skeletons and (??? I'll think of this later) can use cyan magic.
- Orange magic (or attacks) correlate to bravery. Orange attacks harm you if you are still, and are harmless if you charge through them. Orange magic, on the other hand, turns a soul orange and causes the bearer of that soul to have increased inertia when moving. A monster can cast this on themself to move quickly, or an enemy to make it harder to turn and stop in a fight. Many types of monsters can use orange attacks. Generally, goats and sometimes fire elementals use orange magic.
- Dark blue magic correlates to integrity (albeit in a roundabout way). Typically this magic is solely used by skeletons. Dark blue magic is cast on an enemy to increase the gravity on the enemy, making it difficult for them to move around and jump. The wielder can move the enemy around and throw them into traps and attacks. Monsters cannot use blue magic on themselves, only others.
- Purple magic correlates to Perseverance in a roundabout way. It is sticky and can trap enemies in place or slow them down. Purple magic halfway functions as attacks, in that they are produced in the body and shot at someone, and halfway functions as as orange or blue magic, in that it doesn't directly deal damage, but instead causes an effect on the body and/or soul. Purple magic is generally used by spiders and (??? I'll think of this later).
- Green magic correlates strongly with kindness. It is healing magic. It can be used either in the form of bullet patterns or by direct contact. The second method generally involves the healer placing their hands on the patient's chest and either at the forehead or near/hovering above the wound, for magic to reach both the physical damage and the soul. For this reason, green magic bullets do not heal much at a time, but green magic healing can heal as much at once as the wielder has energy for. Green magic is also cooked into monster food, for similar effects as healing (although eating does require consciousness, and being healed doesn't).
- A different type of green magic, green soul magic, functions similarly to blue magic. When cast, it traps the enemy in place. This is a very rare and strong magic which requires years of intense training and practice to hold for even a short period of time. No monster species in particular wields this magic due to its difficulty. Currently, Undyne and Gerson are the only known wielders, and even Undyne cannot hold it for more than a few turns at a time.
- Yellow magic correlates with justice. Generally, the wielder casts it on themself. This turns the soul to 'attack mode,’ allowing the wielder to use rapidfire bullet patterns aimed either straight ahead or straight at the enemy. This is a good strategy for monsters with slow-moving bullet patterns or questionable aim. Yellow magic can also be granted by a wielder to an ally to assist them in group battles. It is typically used by lizards, turtles, snails, and occasionally other slower-moving monsters as a balance to their typically lackluster movements which would otherwise put them at risk.
- Not much is known about red magic.
- Fire magic is typically used by fire elementals, dragons, and goats, but other types of monsters can learn it with practice. Fire magic is heavily tied to intent. It can be used as attacks with either bullet patterns or genuine burning fire, but it can also be used for simple warmth, or to cook. Food cooked with fire magic has an inherently comforting taste to all monsters and tends to be far more popular than other types of food.
- Weapons can be either physical or manifested. Physical weapons are harmless to dummies and ghosts, and are exactly the same as human weapons. Manifested weapons are extensions of a monster's magic. Typically, monsters can only make one type of weapon, and the amount of said weapon depends on their energy levels (e.g. Undynes can chuck dozens of spears when fighting fit, but not nearly so many when exhausted). The type of weapon depends on various factors, and is generally chosen subconsciously. They can be inherited (for example, the Lava Trident my alterfell Papyrus has was inherited by his father when he dealt a killing blow, despite not being a physical weapon). The color of the manifested weapon tends to match the wielder's magic color (note that most monsters’ magic color is arbitrary and not connected to soul traits. Skeletons are the exception. Undyne's spears are cyan but she ain't no Patience soul, nor does she use cyan attacks in battle). Most monsters can only make one weapon at a time, though a fair number may dual-wield. Manifested weapons can either weigh next to nothing, or the same as a physical weapon of the same type. This is generally up to the wielder's preference. One of my fell Sanses, Rav, is a pretty big exception to most of these limitations, as he has a special talent and trains in making several different types of manifested weapons, and has even gotten skilled enough to change their colors and intricately detail them.
- Other types of magic vary by monster type and are too numerous to explain. They can be explained on request.
Explain skeletons?
- Skeletons tend to have magic revolving around space (in the physics sense). Many skeletons are able to summon items from other areas, provided they are aware of said items and exactly where they are. For example, Red can summon a bottle of mustard from his stash, but when that stash runs out he has to put more mustard there to do so. Many skeletons also have the ability to teleport short distances, although this is a learned skill and generally those in the 'Sans’ role are more practiced in this for any number of reasons. Papyri are more than capable, they just typically don't know how. For example, my fellswap!Sans Howl learned out of necessity after being separated from his brother Daemon across the multiverse, and Vex is slowly but surely learning if only because he's tired of being left behind when Red wanders off. This ability requires both a knowledge of where one is and a knowledge of where one is going, generally meaning the wielder has to have been to an area at least once to later return there.
- Note that depending on the verse, I like the idea of the shortcut ability requiring entering one doorway and leaving another, meaning someone locked in a room cannot leave because there is no doorway to leave through. This is verse-specific and will be noted when in use.
- Due to the nature of ecto, certain skeletons are able to manifest extra body parts not connected to the body, in a similar way to summoning weapons. The best example of this is Gasters wielding extra, detatched hands. Red inherited this ability from his own Gaster, Erebus (though he's unaware that's the reason he's able to do this).
- Speaking of ecto, the explanation is as follows: given that skeletons are biologically very humanoid and their bodies themselves use very little magic (the bare-bones, if you will), skeletons have a unique ability to shape and use extra magic as a vaguely jelly-like substance called ecto. Ghosts can also do this. Ecto is approximately as firm and smooth as flesh, although it is slightly less textured and weighs less. It has a bit of give, sort of like chub on humans, but maintains its shape better than flesh (e.g. ecto breasts remain shapely and don't sag like human breasts). Generally speaking, maintaining ecto for a short period of time is very easy and requires very little magic, but using it long-term can eat up magic quicker and require bigger or more frequent meals to maintain. In example, a skeleton wearing some ecto hair while out and about but releasing it at home or at night is not very magic-consuming, but a skeleton wearing full-body ecto almost 24/7 needs to eat and/or sleep more to maintain their ecto and still be able to use magic for other things. This is why, for example, my lustfell!Sans, Jazz, is very fit and healthy but still naps a lot when they can, because they use full-body ecto every second of not being home. Ecto will be the same color as manifested weapons and other magic color, and in skeletons, it typically relates to the matching soul trait.
- As a side note, skeletons are the most obvious example of magic having smells and tastes specific to the monster. Most types have similar tastes due to the more concrete bodies (e.g. dogs all taste the same, fire elementals mostly taste the same, etc), but skeletons, primarily using ecto which is more raw magic, have unique individual tastes and scents.
- Limb detachment is a natural thing for skeletons, and is painless. Due to the nature of magic flow, however, detached limbs cannot move on their own or perform any magical functions. They can be damaged, and hurt the skeleton, and skeletons will be able to vaguely feel other sensations the limb is feeling. Skeletons regulate their body easily enough as older children, teens, and adults, but very young children are not able to do this. As such, babybones’ limbs may detach without warning and require a parent/adult to reattach them. Skeleton newborns need to constantly be touching or very physically close to a parent, because that parent gives off a steady sphere of magic to hold the baby bodies together. Being left alone for too long will result in the newborn's body falling apart entirely, and while it can be fixed if caught immediately, this can lead to death rather quickly.
- Skeleton children develop language faster than other young children, which makes up for their weaker physical states. This is the basis behind typeface names. Skeletons have official names reflecting the handwriting and speech they learn from a young age. Type is determined by the skeleton's vocal range, intensity of speech (or how much conviction their voice holds, in other words), handwriting, formality, and even, to a much lesser extent, general body shape. The parents choose the typeface their child is, hold a naming ceremony, and thereafter teach the child to perfectly hone their handwriting to the exact correct typeface. Namedays are substituted for birthdays.
- Skeletons don't need to breathe necessarily, but it helps ventilate magic and most are used to doing it anyway. Thus, the sensation of being unable to breathe typically causes a skeleton to pass out after approximately the same amount of time it takes for a human to pass out, but with no lasting ill effects. This can be subverted with the right mindset, i.e. coaching oneself on it while swimming.
How does magic dilute over time?
- Assume a pureblood human and a pureblood monster mate and have a child. That child will, usually, have an appearance that is pretty evenly half-monster, half-human. This may, however, manifest in one of two ways. The more common way is a natural blend of both features. A mostly humanoid body with accents of the monster species. A half dog monster may have ears, a tail, paws, and fur, or a half bird monster may have talons for feet and wings for arms, and so on. The less common way is a child that can switch between two forms at will (or unintentionally while young). This has only been observed with half skeletons, but by no means is it common (in other words I like this idea and may use it for specific verses but generally don't). In both cases, the soul is shaped like a monster's but colored like a human's.
- With the first instance, assume the half-human half-monster child then mates with another human. Their child is more humanoid with less monster traits. Long-term exposure to magic will encourage the child's monster traits to be prominent even so, but lack of exposure will make these traits lessen. This child's soul functions and looks completely human. This continues down the generations, assuming no monsters are reintroduced to the line. After enough generations (maybe five or six), the monster part of the heritage essentially becomes dormant without magic practice, but not gone. A distant descendant may naturally become a mage, or may be unable to perform magic (or know their heritage) without being exposed to it much like regular humans.
- Assuming the half-human half-monster child goes on to mate a monster, the grandchild retains a vaguely humanoid body and soul color, while keeping a monster soul shape and with monster features winning out over human ones. Assuming the generations continue to only mate with monsters, humanoid traits become less and less frequent. Soul color will continue to be human for up to about a dozen generations, well past all human bodily features being erased. Continued mixed heritage, with humans and monsters both adding in to the family line, will result in children who remain roughly the same as half children, give or take depending on the specifics.
What other magic varieties are present?
- Aside from the color magic, fire magic, and skeleton magic previously covered, magic tends to either be element-based (water, fire, electricity, air, etc) or attribute-based (increase of strength, speed, flexibility, enhancement of weapons, etc). Rarely, there are special types of magic connected to certain actions or mindsets that are vaguely extrasensory in nature, such as increased empathy, telepathy or telekinesis, prophetic abilities, etc. These are very rare and typically occur due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. swap!Papyrus Prise's piano-accented seer powers are due to a mild void connection).
How is intent involved with magic?
- In most cases, intent is very important (but not everything). A complete lack of intent to hurt generally renders attacks harmless, but even the faintest hint of irritation or frustration can be read as intent and wind up hurting someone despite more conscious thought. Very, very few monsters have the ability to confidently spar and know no hits will land (Vex is the only known one at the moment). Likewise, intent to heal does not always mean one can efficiently use healing magic (as observed in Red's case). But in more general terms, intent can mean the difference between, for example, a fire meant to hurt, and cooking fire that is harmless. Fire elementals generally practice this with their own bodies. Intent to defend or harm can make their entire body burning to the touch, in stark contrast to how intent to comfort makes the entire body seeming only as warm as standing nearby a pleasant hearth fire, even if the other person is cuddled close or even being intimate.
- Intent is also the means to control other types of magic, and how they affect the other person. For example, when a skeleton uses blue magic on someone's soul, intent can decide whether the grip is just a small presence, even comforting, or the grip is tight to the point of pain. This is similar to how error!Sans Dox’s strings can wrap around a soul and yank painfully, or can be a comforting weight to someone he loves.
- In the same vein, for another example, Prise can use his intent to decide what his seer powers provide him when he sits down at the piano. Initial observation of this power was simply sitting to play while wondering what type of run his human would do, and he would get a matching 'hunch.’ He later was able to use this ability to influence and soothe bad dreams of those he cared for, and was eventually able to manifest light shows while performing. It is expected that, with further training, he will become even more prophetic.
EXP and LV: how are they measured?
- There is a better grasp on LV than there is on EXP (read: I don't tend to specify EXP because the numbers get too high). LV is gained through killing, obviously, but the circumstances surrounding the killing affect the amount of EXP and LV gained.
- Killing people whom you don't care about, for example, nets you slightly less EXP and LV than killing people whom you hate, and that nets you FAR less than killing people whom you love. For example, a dust Sans will probably gain several LV just from killing their Papyrus, due to their bond. But the relative neutrality of most other members of the underground evens out so most Dusts still wind up with the set 20 at the end.
- Killing children, in general, tends to give you more EXP and LV, because it takes a special kind of cruelty to perform the act. Even more so with babies. Killing animals doesn't tend to give one EXP or LV, or at least not as much as killing humans or monsters. For example, hunters and those who humanely kill animals for food would gain little if any. However, if one were to cruelly kill an animal, such as a pet or with torture, one would gain more.
- The effects of LV on the soul may vary a little, but generally speaking, the more LV one has, the more emotionally closed-off someone is, especially a monster. LV is the soul's way of protecting itself from the guilt and horror of performing such acts on other living things with souls. After all, a monster is made of love, hope, and compassion. Without the protective numbness of LV, a monster that has killed too much would likely die of sheer emotion.
- Anger is one of the few emotions that is not stifled from LV, and in fact tends to be inflated. High-LV monsters can snap and become enraged far easier than those with low or no LV. Sexual desire is also not stifled, though it isn't magnified, at least not by a lot (excepting in rare cases).
- Some monsters at high LV experience brief episodes of all-encompassing anger and agitation. These can come on due to a specific trigger, stress, or simply after a certain period of time since the last one. For example, Rav is triggered by screams. They give him headaches and cause him to snap almost immediately. When he is in the throes of an LV attack, his mind is made up of unbearable screams from the people he's killed, and he has to exhaust himself physically or be restrained by his brother to make it stop.
- LV shock occurs when a person obtains too much LV within a very short period of time. This typically happens to Dust!Sanses. They go through a period of a few weeks where they feel absolutely nothing, their soul in overdrive protective mode. They giggle uncontrollably when faced with something that would usually upset them, and become extremely jumpy and quick to attack. When this wears off, there is a brief period of uncontrollable emotional, and sometimes physical, pain. Screaming and crying are common. This lasts for a few hours, before the soul finally evens out emotionally and the LV functions properly.
- LV can go down, but it is a slow and generally difficult process. It requires the person in question to trust and love and open themself to unconditional love, without fear of backlash. Even with this process, LV tends to have certain marker levels that, once past, cannot be reduced beyond. For example, LV raised past 10 cannot typically go below 10 again. The same with 20, and possibly 30.
- Ingestion of magic from a very high-LV monster (20 or more) by a low-LV monster, sexually or otherwise, causes symptoms similar to being drunk or high. The excessive energy in LV-saturated magic causes the ingester to feel dizzy, super-energized, a little giddy, and an intense desire to ingest more of the drug-like magic. The effects usually last a few hours, then lead to a crash, sudden exhaustion and usually unconsciousness. The desire to ingest more can last for a few weeks, and depending on the amount ingested, the person may feel withdrawal symptoms consisting of shakiness, mild nausea, lethargy, and headache.
Other random stuff that didn't fit anywhere else (some of these are lewd or squicky, but I will try to keep from being too graphic or specific)
- Monsters do not digest food like humans. Magic food is absorbed almost instantly. Human food is partially absorbed instantly, and partially lingers to be slowly absorbed. At no point do monsters urinate or defecate.
- However, monsters can throw up. Severe nausea or disgust triggers magic to sour, which then must be expelled. The concoction is foul-smelling and almost entirely liquid. Poor Red is squeamish about blood and has a few problems when exposed to lots of it.
- Lust is spread by the ingestion or absorption of magic from a Lustie. This includes oral and penetrative sex. Even scissoring leads to small amounts of absorption, which is enough to contract the disease. Condoms, strap-ons, and abstinence are the only ways to prevent spread. Humans can get Lust, but can generally go for longer periods without severe repercussions due to the strength of their souls.
- Dance verse monsters rely on the beat of music for attacks. A person that does not understand this and does not move to the beat will miss and be hit more. However, complete soul-syncing to the same beat, as opposed to simple following, is intimate and done only with family and mates. The combination of physical contact, complete soul syncing, and a manifestation of both souls (even if they don't touch) is seen as lewd and not proper for public dancing.
- All souls have a song, or at least a beat/melody. That song or beat may change due to extreme events in one's life, positive or negative. For example, soulbonding causes both monster's souls to gain some of their partner's.
- When it comes to monsters that manifest genitals, such as skeletons and elementals, most can choose one, the other, or both at will. However, some few are stuck with one form regardless of attempt to switch to the other (this is rare and mostly for my own amusement. For example, I failed rolls to allow Rav to go female enough times that I decided he is incapable).
- Most monsters and humans see a name, ATK, DEF, relative HP as a percentage, and a quick, short narration on a check. Sans types also see exact HP, and LV. Certain outcodes, such as errors and some voidlings, can see the binary makeup of the person.
- Most monster pregnancies tend to last for roughly 4 months, with each trimester being roughly 5-6 weeks. They demonstrate similar symptoms as human women, including morning sickness, weird cravings, mood swings, and soreness. There are three ways monsters reproduce. Human-style, soul pregnancies (where the new soul grows within the mother's), and asexual reproduction.
- The void is a tangible, almost sentient thing. Once one has been lost to it, for example a Gaster, there are certain things that cannot be given back. Returned Gasters tend to maintain a certain goopiness, even some melted and then re-hardened parts. Attempts to take from the void result in loss, much like human transmutation in FMA. For example, horrorfell!Sans, Arum, attempted to reach into the void to get his father back. His machine as incomplete, his attempts unsuccessful, and the void not only physically tore a hole in his head, but also took certain memories and some of his autonomy. He now suffers from periods of partial or total memory loss, and periods of catatonia.
- Magic collars function much the same as in @kamari333 verses and Ain’t This The Life. That is, they have tracking, protective magic, and a varying degree of emotion transfer depending on the collared one's wishes.
- In terms of soulbonding, humans have been observed to be able to bond to multiple different monsters, provided the bonding process is done one at a time. There has been no recorded instance of one monster bonding with more than one other person. General belief is that monster souls are not strong enough to split twice for this purpose. However, this has not been tested.
- KR tends to manifest in souls that have some measure of Justice in them. However, some Sanses without Justive have been observed to have KR also. KR is not explicitly tied to being a Judge, but it is the general consensus that a Judge has KR. Not all timelines have the type of entity-based Judge that ATTL has (I.e. I like the idea of a Judge-entity that possesses someone in the timeline, but have only used it in one or two verses. In most others, being a judge is simply being the 'Sans' part and doing the final hallway thing).
- Humans or skeletons can, due to dire circumstances, experience a shift in soul color. The process is typically painful, and may last anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. Magic type may or may not shift. For example, a human that becomes orange may possibly gain the ability to use orange magic to move at fast speeds.
- There are only a few different monster languages. Common is English, Hands is ASL (and can be signed, spoken, or written, the spoken or written are Wing Dings and really only used by skeletons). There is an elemental language, with different dialects for the different types of elemental. Other than that, monsters don't have any unique languages, though they are of course able to learn different human languages.
- Monsters don't tend to have access to meat. Most remain vegetarian when they reach the surface, either due to morals or a taste preference. Some will choose to start eating meat, however.
- More to be added as I think of it.

Canon & Default Verse || Main Character Sheet
NAME: Jack Neverbore.
AGE: 18-24. (verse dependent)
DOB: March 28.
NATIONALITY: Japanese American.
SPECIES: human.
GENDER: male.
OCCUPATION: vigilante gang leader.
HEIGHT: 5'7".
HAIR: pitch black.
EYES: burnt umber.
FACECLAIM: Izaya Orihara & Ryo Nishikido.
Born and raised in New York, New York—Jack has become a cause behind the gang known as “Manic Rat Mayhem” ( MrM ). He created this gang out of bitterness towards humanity at first, but his childhood best friend, Caleb Shrines, convinced him that for the better he could cause a shift if he truly desired. Causing his gang to have two leaders, Caleb and himself.
Now the gang stands for revelation, purpose, and unresolved justice; also having unintentionally created a fan base alongside it for those who admire the acts the gang showcases to the world.
This gang did numerous tasks, on Jack's side: stopping gang fights, drug wars, drug dealing and intervening with the cop’s tasks when it came to certain homicides. On Caleb’s side, outside their normal attires, they would do errands for the nursing homes, helping elderly people cross the street and so forth. Both coming up to create a deal to start a ‘business’ with the homeless in mind.
Causing disdain towards those who are known with the bad rep, which seem to only cause those ‘good kids’ to cling to their friends tighter.
However, the unknown reason for these people’s change of relationships can only be described as association to the calling of an unknown ad from unknown origin. All thanks to the leader himself and his underground dealings.
And despite that, he does this to get to know the unsuspecting victim of his antics, it can also backfire on him when it comes to those underlying illnesses.

RULES. repost; do not reblog! tag 10! good luck!
TAGGED BY: stolen from @salt-water-and-glaives forever ago TAGGING: Steal it from me or I will kill again.
BASICS.
FULL NAME: Astraea Andromeda Lucis Caelum NICKNAME/S: Stray, Rae/Rae-Rae, Starshine BIRTHDAY: February 28th NATIONALITY: Lucian LANGUAGE/S: Lucian, Tenebraean, Old Lucian, Altissian, fragments of Imperial SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Pansexual ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: Panromantic RELATIONSHIP STATUS: It’s Complicated (verse dependent)
CLASS: White Mage
HOMETOWN / AREA: Insomnia, Lucis. Born a royal in the Crown City, Stray was raised in the highest echelons of Insomniac society. Raised above most, she was kept largely to the world of privilege and safety afforded by the wealthier circles of her walled world. CURRENT HOME: On the road
PROFESSION: Princess, Advocate
PHYSICAL.
HAIR: Inky black in color, shot through with traces of blue highlights. It falls thick and loosely curled to her mid back, though is often styled tidily up and away from her face in vintage styles. After the fall of her homeland, she cuts her hair just above her shoulders and only styles it minimally.
EYES: A dark shade, leaning heavily towards a steely blue. Downturned and mono-lidded in shape. Has long dark lashes framing them, often accented with a hint of black eyeliner along her upper lids and highlighter to obscure dark circles beneath her eyes.
NOSE: Straight, with a slight downward turn. Average sized.
FACE: Diamond shaped, with an angular and overtly feminine face giving way to a pointed chin. Slightly elongated in imitation of her father in his youth, with no noticeable scars or discoloration
LIPS: Wide and plush, naturally a pale pink. Often decorated with a smear of neutral lipstick or gloss during public appearances. Most often pulled into a placid or neutral smile.
COMPLEXION: The light ivory skin of a person who does not often brave direct sunlight, with warm undertones. While she might burn at first, with time she’ll settle into a soft tan when introduced to the world outside of the city. Appears more ashen in the post-Nightfall world, due to a combination of factors.
BLEMISHES: None, and should any appear. they’re likely to be photoshopped out or made to disappear via make-up.
TATTOOS: A small lineart of a feather on her left hip, a remnant of a past relationship. The feather means a lot to her on again off again boyfriend, and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him. That on again lasted all of two months after this tattoo. She’s mortified by the mere thought of the ink on her hip now.
HEIGHT: 5′1″
WEIGHT: Around 105-110 pounds.
BUILD: Slim and diminutive, with delicate bone structure and slender limbs. While there is some toning along her upper arms and core, she remains slight. Her figure is relatively straight, with little in the way of curves.
ALLERGIES: None.
USUAL HAIRSTYLE: in public: A vintage brush out or demure braid will be her go to hairstyles when facing the people. The styles are made more elegant by the inclusion of hair accessories, usually dark silver clips to contrast off of her dark locks.
in private: Keeps her hair loose or in a low ponytail, letting her curls simply be so long as they are out of the way. She’s not particularly fussed about her hair when her time is her own, and actually enjoys just letting it loose and bouncy down her back.
at work: Kept into a messy ponytail or bun with long, loose curls falling at the sides of her face if not swept back behind her ears.
USUAL EXPRESSION: You know how newscasters have that perpetual, unnerving buoyancy to their smiles and unblinking eyes? Unfortunately, that is Stray, who wants to always appear affable and trustworthy to the people. Smiling softly, eyes bright, but in an altogether neutral expression otherwise, she might come off as insincere were she any less pretty.
USUAL CLOTHING: The modern goth meets the vintage rack. Stray has an appreciation for old school elegance, be it tea-length dresses or old pencil skirts and cardigans, the more femme the better. Her choice of fabric is overwhelmingly black, though she accessorizes with shades of red and magenta. Has been known to wear sunglasses when out in the world. Polished black heels are a must, as Stray refuses to live at her actual height.
PSYCHOLOGY.
FEAR/S: Seeing as Stray is a person to define herself by her use to others, she has a twofold fear of uselessness and imperfection. If she is not the best she can be, the nshe struggles to understand who she is or what her purpose might be. Beyond this, she has a deep-seated fear of losing what little family she has, which unfortunately comes true during the course of the narrative.
ASPIRATION/S: Above all, Stray hopes to see a Kingdom united, with no walls and prejudices. Her primary goals as a political figurehead focus on the plight of the Outlands, and especially that of refugees. She hopes to one day make reparations for what her forebears did so wrong in handling those outside of the Crown City. Her more personal goals are mainly defined day by day, though as of the game’s primary plot, she is focused totally on finding her brother and keeping him safe. After his loss, Stray throws herself into finding a conclusion that does not end with her brother being sacrificed to Bahamut’s game.
POSITIVE TRAITS: Approachable. Caring. Generous. Just. Passionate. Playful. Witty.
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Evasive. Insecure. Self-sacrificing. Smothering. Subservient. Workaholic.
MBTI: ENFJ-T - THE PROTAGONIST
Protagonists are natural-born leaders, full of passion and charisma. Forming around two percent of the population, they are oftentimes our politicians, our coaches and our teachers, reaching out and inspiring others to achieve and to do good in the world. With a natural confidence that begets influence, Protagonists take a great deal of pride and joy in guiding others to work together to improve themselves and their community.
The interest Protagonists have in others is genuine, almost to a fault – when they believe in someone, they can become too involved in the other person’s problems, place too much trust in them. Luckily, this trust tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, as Protagonists’ altruism and authenticity inspire those they care about to become better themselves. But if they aren’t careful, they can overextend their optimism, sometimes pushing others further than they’re ready or willing to go.
People with the Protagonist personality type are passionate altruists, sometimes even to a fault, and they are unlikely to be afraid to take the slings and arrows while standing up for the people and ideas they believe in. It is no wonder that many famous Protagonists are cultural or political icons – this personality type wants to lead the way to a brighter future, whether it’s by leading a nation to prosperity, or leading their little league softball team to a hard-fought victory.
ENNEAGRAM: The Reformer
ZODIAC: Pisces (sun sign), Libra (rising sign), Taurus (moon sign)
TAROT: Death: “You can be a bit intense and find yourself drawn to dark and mysterious things. You’ve been through a lot and have probably seen your fair share of endings, but probably cope with it through humor. On top of that, you are surprisingly easygoing – you’re open to change, try not to let past baggage weigh you down, and seek out new experiences” (there was a quiz going around and that’s where the description comes from)
TEMPERAMENT: Sanguine
SOUL TYPE/S: the caregiver (change)
The quintessential characteristic of a Caregiver type is the desire to take care of others. For this reason, Caregivers may be drawn to the long-term care of children or the elderly. Though some Caregivers find their need to nurture satisfied by raising a family, many others seek out work in such venues as schools, hospitals, and animal shelters. The long-term care of those with Alzheimer’s, autism, and mental illness often becomes the responsibility of Caregivers.
If you recognize yourself as a Caregiver, you may already have noticed the tendency to put others’ needs ahead of your own. This trait makes it essential that you go out of your way to take care of yourself as well as those around you. Remember that you’re no use to others if you’re not healthy or fit enough to help them.
You are loyal to the extreme, and you guard those who are entrusted to your care with your life. Fighting another person’s battles can be important if that individual is unable to stand up for themselves, though you should be cautious not to dis-empower those in your care by not allowing them to do things for themselves.
Your empathy allows you to understand nonverbal emotional signals. This ability will tell you when someone needs your help, and how best to assist them. It is common for Caregiver types to intuitively know what someone needs at any given time.
VICE/S: Stray is someone who cuts loose by thrills. A favorite vice is driving fast, racing around the Crown City once the streets are emptied. She tears across the roads like a stunt driver, handling her car well but with a blatant disregard for traffic laws. She has also been known to take part in recreational drug use in secret, favoring marijuana to unwind when her stress peaks.
FAITH: Formerly a lapsed adherent to the Astrals, the six gods of her native Eos, with a particular focus on the veneration of Bahamut as patron of her family. While raised a proper faithful child, Stray never had a vested interest in the Astrals, and began to put her faith instead in the physical world over the spiritual. In the time since the fall of her homeland and the revelation of her brother’s fate, her disinterest has turned to outright hatred, and she now aims to work against the gods and their ambitions.
GHOSTS?: Misidentified daemons, in her honest opinion. If the haunted painting can actually be possessed by one, who knows how many times ghosts have simply been misidentified species of Daemon? She wants to believe, however.
AFTERLIFE?: She’s unsure what shape it takes, but does believe it exists. Whether you ascend to dwell with the Astrals, or go on to watch over your loved ones from above, she cannot say, just that she doesn’t think life ends just because your body dies. Not that it immediately concerns her, seeing as a lot of her ancestors end up stuck in a ring for all eternity.
REINCARNATION?: A fascinating theory she’s seen bandied about certain Outland beliefs. It’s not truly in line with the Astral-based faith she was raised in, but she does think it’s a beautiful idea. Though, she does tend to treat it irreverently when drawing comparisons between the Founder King and her younger brother.
ALIENS?: You mean like the kind Cor swears up and down he saw driving through Tenebrae once? Sure, she totally believes the Marshall.
POLITICAL ALIGNMENT: Revolutionary. At heart, Stray sees little use in a continued monarchy, and believes in equality for the people who would ideally represent themselves. Outwardly, she settles for being the more liberal royal, campaigning for changes to at least two generations of perceived injustice against Lucian citizens.
ECONOMIC PREFERENCE: Surprisingly frugal. Most finery she owns was either a gift or a necessity for osme event. On her own, Stray has a preference for function over anything else, and durability over couture. This might go a long way in explaining several of her vintage interests.
SOCIOPOLITICAL POSITION: Royal, the eldest child -- though not heir -- of an established monarch. Stray is at the highest level of Lucian society, trumped only by her father as ruler and brother as heir.
EDUCATION LEVEL: University educated. Topped her classes throughout her private education, and truly excelled in high school. Earned her Bachelors in poli sci, despite intending to study medicine at the start. Her education goals have been put on hold due to her familial obligations, though prior to the treaty signing she intended to continue on for a Masters.
FAMILY.
FATHER: Regis Lucis Caelum, King - deceased
MOTHER: Aurea Lucis Caelum, Queen - deceased
GODFATHER: Clarus Amicitia (her father’s Sworn Shield)
SIBLING/S: Noctis (younger brother)
EXTENDED FAMILY: Ardyn probably counts here as her 114 times removed great uncle. In the more realistic, she has a maternal uncle on the council, and a few younger cousins she sometimes hangs around with.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER(S): Verse dependent.
NAME MEANING/S: Astraea is derived from the root Aster, meaning ‘Star.’ This was the name of a classical goddess of justice and innocence. Andromeda roughly translates to ‘mindful of man,’ and was the name of a bound princess in mythology. Lucis Caelum is a Latin surname, taken from the words for ‘light’ and ‘sky.’
Her first and last names become ‘star of the light sky’,’ in juxtaposition to her brother as the ‘night of the light sky.’
Stray is a nickname derived from her younger brother’s attempts to pronounce her name as a young child. It was easier on the tongue than her full name, and stuck among both the royal family and the prince and princess’ closest friends.
HISTORICAL CONNECTION: The eldest child of the royal family of Lucis, a dynasty dating back 2000 years. Though not the heir -- inheritance favors female rulers only when there are no men left -- Stray is among the latest link in a very long chain of duty and magic. She is 114 generations removed from the Founder King, and sister to the long-prophecised Promised King.
FAVORITES.
BOOK: Stray is most engrossed in medical journals and any technical publications that come her way. That is, she has more time for magazines than books. When she has a moment to sit down, however, she has a taste for poetry and the classics -- Tragedies, especially.
MOVIE: Legally, the princess is required to say that she enjoys a good drama, and is very interested in the yearly award circuit nominees especially. In private, the princess prefers less conservative fare, namely erotic thrillers. There is something about the interplay of sex and danger that she enjoys. None can know just how lowbrow her tastes are.
DEITY: Outwardly, she will admit to being a great admirer of the stalwart Draconian who protects her family and their kingdom. In private, she often had a soft spot for Titan, shouldering the load of saving the world from calamity. Now, she thinks they are all unworthy of worship.
MONTH: October.
SEASON: Autumn.
PLACE: Her private chambers within the Citadel, where she can really be herself at the start and end of every day.
WEATHER: Cool and overcast, with the threat of rain on the horizon not quite reaching her. The kind of weather where you bring your umbrella just to be safe, but still go about your day.
