Euronymous: We’ve sold some, but most people prefer to wait for the record, I think. We’ve sold a couple of hundred records, even before it’s out!

Morbid: Are any record labels interested to make a deal with you?

Euronymous: I don’t know. We haven’t tried to get a deal yet. We recently got a letter from some label called Thunder Records. They wanted a demo so I sent them one. But except (for) that we haven’t sent out any demos to record companies at all. A lot of people have told us that we’d get a deal easily, but we hate record companies. If we’d sign a deal, we’d lose all control. Now we do everything ourselves, distribution, promotions and stuff, on our own label called “Posercorpse Music, Inc.” If we sign a deal, we might get much better distribution and more money, but still we prefer to do things ourselves. I mean, which record company would print our lyrics? However, if we one day do sign a deal, I doubt that it will be more than a one or two record deal.

America decided to stay on Earth-199999 and she will be trained by Dr. Strange. You became friends with her and you spent more time with her almost every day. But she started to develop feelings for you, but she hasn't told you. She does smile more when you are around her and she tries to flirt with you but doesn't go well.

“So, Halloween doesn't exist on your Earth?” You asked.

“No. So why do people celebrate Halloween?” America asked.

“Just to have fun. Some people like to wear costumes and go to parties and everyone gets free candies also people just like the treats” You said.

“That doesn't sound boring. Why do people ask for candies?” America said.

“It just became a tradition to ask for candies. Oh, you should celebrate Halloween! We can wear costumes” You said.

She starts to think about it.

“Okay!” America smiled.

“Awesome” You smiled back at her.

While walking to the store, she starts to talk about her training. She is getting stronger but has a lot to learn, you can see that she has a strong bond with Dr. Strange. While in the store, you two start to look around and you help decide what to wear. You got your costume but she hasn't decided what to wear. It took a while for her to pick a costume but she finally did it. Later, you and America went to get something to eat. She starts to ask what makes you attracted to someone and you start to tell her. But you didn't notice that she is into you.

It's Halloween, and you are dressed as Sully from Monster Inc. America is dressed as Luigi and you take a selfie with her. You went to a party with her and Peter is happy to see you and America.

“What is a Han Solo?” America asked.

“Y/n, please tell me that she is joking,” Peter said.

“On her earth, Star Wars doesn't exist,” You said.

Peter started to ramble on about what is Star Wars. But America got confused she didn't understand who are the characters or what is a jedi.

“Peter! Next time, we will show her the movies. Breathe and let's take a break from talking about Star Wars” You said.

“Okay. There are drinks and food in the kitchen” Peter smiled.

“Okay,” You and America said.

You and America are starting to have fun. Wanda and her kids are at the party, Wanda isn't after America or Dr. Strange anymore. Wanda just said hi to you and America then walked away.

“So no more fighting?” You asked.

“No. We worked it out and she doesn't hate me” America said.

You don't dance but America tries to convince you to dance.

“Come on, Y/n it will be fun,” America said.

“I don't know how to dance,” You said.

“It will be fun, Y/n,” America said.

“Okay, fine” You smiled.

She tells you to let loose and just have fun. You are starting to hesitate and she gently grabbed your hands. You start to dance and you are feeling very nervous about it, but she encourages you to keep dancing. You and America keep smiling at each other while dancing.

Later, you and America went to get something to eat in the kitchen.

“I’m really liking Halloween,” America said.

“That’s good to know,” You said.

You and America are standing very close to each other. She leans in and kissed you on the lips, she gently put her hand on your cheek and kept kissing you. She pulled away and you are speechless, it felt like your heart was beating much louder than the music.

“Y/n, I really like you a lot. I wanted to kiss you for so long” America said.

“Wow... America I-I”

“I get it, you don't feel the same way,” America said.

She started to walk away fast, she is leaving the party. You start to chase after her, then start to use her magic to leave but you grabbed her arm and pulled her towards you.

“America, I have feelings for you too. When you kissed me... I was caught off guard but I liked the kiss” You said.

“You mean it?” America asked.

“Yeah, I mean it. I wouldn't lie to you about my feelings and I want to kiss you again” You smiled.

She wrapped her arms around you and you start to kiss her.

“Do you want to go on a date with me?” America asked.

“Yeah, I would go on a date with you. Wait, does this mean you are my girlfriend?” You said.

You had planned a tour in Italy, what will happen now that Manheim is gone?

Euro: We'll just use Torben. But the tour will be in December instead of August as first planned. This is for several reasons.

Does Maniac use distortion on his vocals or is his voice natural?

Euro: Maniac's voice is actually natural! When I first heard him I was sure that he used distortion, but he don't. You can hear that on the demo/record, because he and Messiah use the same mike together! But I think he uses some ki nd of space effect.

How do you manage to play so fast?

Euro: Well, you know that the more practice you get the faster it goes, and we've played for three years, now. But we don't play fast compared to bands like Napalm Death! They're fast!

What do you think of the Norwegian thrash scene?

Euro: It sucks, but I think it starts to build up now. More and more people seem to become active in the scene which I think is good. One thing which also is good is that punks and thrashers now start uniting. But I think that more girls should get into the scene! I know about just 5-6 of them here in this country. However, the Norwegian scene has alot of suckers!It is people who just walk around, thinking "I listen to Slayer, I'm hard!" and we also have those who make crooked use on bands and others, I'm not going to mention any names, but this is Bad!

Do you feel that many people buy your demo after they have read a Fanzine with you in it?

Euro: Yeah, I think that's the way most people get to know about us. We've also been played on lots of local radios everywhere, but it's deffinetly the fanzines who make most of the promotion.

What music do you listen to?

Euro: Personally I listen a lot to electronic syntheziser music like Klaus Schule, Tangerine Dream, Conrad Schnitzler and Brian Eno. I also listen to lots of thrash and some hardcore. But, NO disco shit, pop music or HM.

What do you think about Vomit and the music they play?

Euro: They rule! Their new stuff is so great! To be honest, I think they're better than us! They're really great guys. When Manheim left us they lent us Torben and they let us come to practice at their rehearsalplace every weekend. That's a cool attitude. Support them! They will have a new demo out this autumn.

You visited Kreator some time ago, how did they react when they first heard you?

Euro: The German thrashers are psychos! At that time we had only released "P.F.A" demo, and a lot of them loved it! Then you have to be sick!

You've got some help from Metalion of Slayer Mag. what do you think of him and the Fanzine?

Euro: Metalion is a fucking great guy and our best friend. If it haden't been for him....... The Deathcrush record is dedicated to him, and he truly deserves it! His 'zine is one of the best ive seen and also definitely the sickest.

tell me about rich inc pretty please

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY TO COME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : D

Okay so. Shit. where do I start. Be prepared to read.

In 1977 there were two college students in New York, Solomon Bruno and Richard Mann, who were childhood friends experimenting on rats in Solomon's mother's basement trying to increase the longevity of their lives. Right? Right.

This next sequence of events is what leads to Richard becoming an evil, homicidal billionaire and leads to Solomon joining the anti-Rich INC activist group known as the Mortal Men, who is trying to prove Immortality is quite literally made of the blood of the innocent- One night Richard and Solomon are outside a diner and there's a cute girl inside, they flip a coin and ultimately decide that Richard is the one who gets to talk to her- Her name is Helen, she's studying at Harvard to become a lawyer. They begin dating. On Richard's 21st birthday Helen throws him a huge house party which he pretends to like, even though Solomon knows better and knows he doesn't enjoy those types of social gatherings. Richards not enjoying himself and ultimately decides to leave, he tells Helen who accidentally lets the words "I love you" slip from her mouth. Ruh-roh, Richard says NOTHING back and just. Leaves.

Solomon sees Helen rush upstairs, crying, and goes to check on her. One thing leads to another, and, they be boinking. ANYYYYWAYS fast forward like two months later and Helen goes on a trip to Africa (she loves elephants and endangered species) and Solomon is trying to deal with his guilt of sleeping with his best friends girlfriend, he's wondering if he should tell him.

One night, while one of the newer testing rats is in the same cage with the oldest test rat- the elderly rat eats the younger one. And, surprisingly, it starts displaying signs of youthfulness again! Its gray hairs disappear and it starts behaving like a younger rat. So, Solomon and Richard, not thinking about the implications of this strange development, just decide to celebrate their accomplishment! Yay!

They smoke some herbage, they drink some drinkage, they're havin' a good time !

They turn on music, they're slow dancing! Like friends do!

And then Solomon, thinking about his guilt and sleeping with Helen is like, "Hey, I have to tell you something."

And Richard straight up goes, "You don't have to tell me anything," And he kisses Solomon on the mouth.

But wuh-oh. Solomon punches him in the eye! .... Not cool dude ! he yells at Richard to "get the fuck out" of his house . And uh. yeah they're not friends anymore. To say the least. A few months later when Helen is back in town, Solomon gets into a car crash when a black cat runs in the road and he swerves out of the way. He ends up in the hospital, sedated, when Richard shows up and has him sign this document Helen wrote up. Which, he does, not knowing it's basically a false admission that he had NOTHING to do with the development of immortality and that he owns no rights to the profits or credit. Which. The actual story takes place in 1999 and it follows: A young man named Jasper, who is an aspiring writer from Canada living in a dingy apartment in New York with his hairless cat named Ugly. He ends up working for Rich INC as Richard's assistant. A young woman named CJ, who is the leader and founder of the Mortal Men, her life's work is to take down Richard, and avenge her brother who went missing four years prior. 👀 Solomon, who is now a jaded and bitter forty year old man who has dedicated his time to trying to fighting Richard any way he can and getting the credit he deserves, throwing away his life in the process. Richard, who is now a cold and compassionless horrifying billionaire who gets away with everything he does, has the world in the palm of his hand and feels he still has nothing that he wants. And Helen, Richard's unloved wife who is perpetually trying to fill the void of the dreams she lost. From here on, I know that the number of people who follow this blog who were around to see these songs on the charts will increase exponentially. To be honest, I am very intimidated. Please be nice to me.

The 1970's exists in a weird time in pop culture history, because it really feels like an island. Any decade that begins with the Beatles breaking up and ends with the murder of John Lennon is going to exist in a strange place culturally. Combine that with the previously mentioned decline of disco, the simultaneous rise in inflation and unemployment, and President Carter's declining popularity leading to Ronald Reagan's landslide victory. It was clear that whatever the next decade was, it wasn't going to be like the 70s.

But during this year, Reagan wasn't in office, so I don't have to talk about that yet.

Musically, you can see the last bits of the 70's clinging on. Disco, despite being famously "killed off" still has its place on the charts. Funkytown, for example, is often brought up in pop culture mythology as being the "last big disco song". I'm mostly bringing it up because I feel bad that I had to crop the song's composer, Steven Greenberg, out of the banner. The one good thing about the charts moving away from orchestras and ensembles is that I don't have to worry about cropping people out.

But in addition to the endings, the dawn of the 1980's also comes with its new beginnings. For one, Michael Jackson's solo career will take him from the standout star of the Jackson 5, to the king of pop music itself.

I talked a bit about the rise of punk rock in the 70's, but I didn't go into that much detail because the scene didn't have much presence on the charts. The Clash may have been "The Only Band That Matters", but that wasn't the case to the data compiling the Hot 100. However, while punk rock has seen little mainstream success on the charts, several of its descendants will come to define this decade. Most notable here is Blondie, kicking off the decade with one of its first new wave hits. This movement will only continue to grow from here, especially when we get to the second British Invasion, as well as pop music becoming more image-focused during the MTV era.

Which means I will no longer struggle to find pictures of the artists features in these polls.

Those two would basically be the broken world arch in Witcher fanfic, starting with an ended world (and no the white frost would not be an ice age) and with re-awakening of either Eskel or Erland in the ruins, re-awoken after the world failed and now having to find a way to somehow free the world from the white frost's claws and maybe, just maybe also save it. It would be a rather dark tale, with a rather dark and cynical view on certain game events, as well as book events too. It would also claim that Alzur for all his madness saw what was coming and tried to arm the world with a new type of warrior, which sadly the world didn't want.

Birth of an Age by Clamavi de Profundis and Past and Future Secret by Blind Guardian

The Dwarrow Saga. This would be a dwarven story, not set in fanfic but actually in it's own world, though I won't deny there are some inspirations that came from Tolkien's dwarrow. So there's that. It would feature a dwarven art of implanting magical crystals into someone to create powerful warriors. Gemlings are feared outside the dwarven lands, and most humans are shocked to learn that Gemlings indeed are humans. It would feature a warrior, who got implanted by a power-hungry lunatic, and while he could prevent himself from being controlled his mind is fraying rapidly. Pained and shaken, he searches for the dwarrow, because they might be able to remove the crystal. Halfway through his journey he encounters a dwarrow crystal smith who is willing to help him. The dwarrow in turn is looking for his vanished older brother, who never returned from the lowlands…

Yes, I know that the Man who can't forget is already linked to Wheel of time. And this would be a wheel of time fanfic. A seventh age fanfic. A space fanfic. A Fanfic were the catastrophe happened, that threw the world back into the new coming of the first age (and as the first age is essentually our world, something must have gone horribly wrong). This would be the age where the Dragon falls to the dark, where the Dark one triumphs for a while, and the world is again shattered. It would feature space ships, channelers in space, the question whether others escaped the world in former cycles and whether the cyclical nature of the world is real. Except for the dragon and maybe a few heroes of the horn, most characters would have to be OCs, or maybe OCs where one might speculate whether or not we knew them in another incarnation. I have a space-ship in mind, the Valere - a sleeper ship - because in the end of the day we know: the grave is no bar to my call.

This would be a story about a strange ghost near a village, a ghost that only attacks Witchers. After Eskel is severely injured when surprised by the ghost, Lambert goes to investigate. He has heard stories about this weird ghost before. As he dodges an attack himself, he slowly digs into the past of the village and learns of a girl, who had a short if hot affair with a Witcher but was left by said Witcher, and took her own life shortly after. Who was the Witcher… now take a guess. But he will have to dance with her, before the ghost can find rest.

Card-en-Ciel is a card-battling, roguelite RPG featuring over 300 unique cards and 50 vocal songs. Players take control of Neon, a private detective who specializes in solving cases that take place in the virtual net. He must restore order to an in-development game that is under attack by countless characters leaking from other games across history. Dive into virtual dungeons where each victory earn new cards to add to your deck, strengthen those cards, then take on the powerful protagonists of the invading games. Each card brings a new synergy to your deck, creating combos with each other and the special Muse cards, whose songs add new passive abilities that last for the entire battle. Today, Inti Creates has revealed new information on the “real world” heroes, Neon and Ancie, as well as their mysterious rivals, Nanakt and RiTa, with a new trailer that delves into Card-en-Ciel‘s JRPG story! Inti Creates has also released a new music video for Card-en-Ciel‘s theme song, “To the Promised Sky”! They will be teaming up with Phoenixx Inc. to show the game at Gamescom, this August in Cologne, Germany!

Card-en-Ciel Features a Full Storyline Filled With Colorful Characters!

In Card-en-Ciel, players will use over 300 cards to battle enemies throughout the game. Each of these cards features a different character from 31 different games, both real Inti Creates’ developed titles and imagined games invented for the Card-en-Ciel universe. Each of the roguelite dungeons that players venture into features is themed by one of these games, and progresses a main storyline that drives the player through Card-en-Ciel for a complete JRPG experience. The story begins in the virtual reality world as the “Gaming Chair Detective” Neon arrives to help a developer, Ancie, when her in-development strategy game is suddenly invaded with monsters from other famous game franchises. This digital story takes a strange turn when they encounter “Nanakt,” a mysterious man who creates a virtual dungeon in the middle of the real world! Today, we are revealing the rival Nanakt and his partner RiTa for the first time with an extensive look at Card-en-Ciel‘s story in this new trailer!

■ Main Story

“Please save the world.” …This case begins with a single e-mail. It arrived in the mailbox of Neon Nanashiki, the “Gaming Chair Detective,” straight from an in-development full-dive VR game. Filled with curiosity, Neon gets to work hacking into the unfinished title. When Neon manages to log into the game, Rust Tactics, he meets a lone young woman. “Ancie,” [ahn-see] a developer on the game, was investigating powerful data run rampant inside the virtual world—Mad Obstructive Data, or MODs for short. Neon is not one to turn down a case, and accepts without hesitation. He promises Ancie to fix RT’s world, and ventures into the dangerous MOD Dungeons investigate. As the two begin to restore order to RT’s world, they find strange data in the dungeons, called “Error Fragments.” Suddenly, a mysterious man called “Selevan Nanakt” appears to steal the fragments from them. Nanakt disappears as suddenly as he arrived, and uses the Error Fragments to create a MOD Dungeon in the real world. Neon and Ancie rush to log out and investigate, running into each other in the process. The two of them follow Nanakt straight into the real-life dungeon, where Nanakt is waiting at the end, together with a mysterious girl…

Neon (voiced by Aleks Le in English)

A talented hacker who solves crimes that take place in full-dive VR worlds, also known as the “Gaming Chair Detective.” When he takes on Ancie’s request to help her in the world of Rust Tactics, he discovers what appear to be sentient characters from other games, kicking off an adventure across the game multiverse.

Ancie (voiced by Christina Vee in English)

A developer with Helios Interactive, makers of Rust Tactics, who reaches out to Neon for help when an incident occurs in the game world. Ancie supports Neon’s dungeon crawling in various ways, such as analyzing enemy data to create cards

♦ Introducing the rivals, Nanakt and RiTa!

Selevan Nanakt (voiced by Jack Ayres in English)

A mysterious man who suddenly appears in RT’s world. He steals the Error Fragments that Neon has found and uses their power to open up a “security hole,” a dimensional rift, creating a new MOD Dungeon. Nanakt seems to know something about the MOD phenomena that Neon is investigating… He wishes to “overwrite the world” using the Error Fragments.

RiTa (voiced by Jackie Lastra in English)

A powerful MOD in the form of a young woman, summoned by Nanakt. Her song has the power to interfere with reality itself. RiTa has no will of her own and moves solely on Nanakt’s command.

■ Game System: Subjugation

Get acquainted with Card-en-Ciel‘s card-battling gameplay by watching the gameplay trailer! Today, we’ll introduce a key system in Card-en-Ciel‘s gameplay: Area Subjugation.

♦ Clear Out a Room and Reap the Rewards!

Eradicate all enemies from any room in the dungeon, and you’ll get a choice of 3 different rewards.

♦ Recovery

Recovery will restore a portion of your HP.

There are very few ways to restore your HP during a dungeon, and this is the most reliable.

♦ Position

Choose a card from your deck or a Muse you have acquired to position them in the dungeon room.

—Having an ally on the field will grant you a bonus while battling in nearby rooms.

When you choose a Muse to position, they will perform from the very beginning of battle in nearby rooms, granting their powerful passive bonus and Special Skill energy immediately. Any cards you Position will be temporarily removed from your deck and will return when moving to the next floor.

♦ Enhance

Choose this to apply a “Cheat Code” to one of three random cards in your deck. Cheat Codes are powerful additional effects that apply not only to the card you choose, but also every copy of that card in your deck. They can grant additional damage, reduce the card’s playing Cost, or even buff your damage simply by drawing it! You’ll be able to stack up to three Cheat Codes on a single card, so the Enhance option is always useful for powering up your deck.

■ Game System: Dungeon Rewards

Defeat the boss waiting at the end of a dungeon to clear it and earn a slate of rewards. Based on how you clear the dungeon, you’ll accelerate Neon’s growth, unlock new difficulty levels, and progress the main story.

♦ Dungeon Results

Aim for as Few Turns as Possible!

Your goal in each dungeon is defeat the powerful boss waiting at the end. Achieve that, and you’ll see the Results screen where you’ll get your well-earned rewards.

The score you earn at the end of the dungeon is largely determined by how many turns you took in battle. Winning battles in as few turns as possible is certainly important, but skipping battles entirely is an even bigger step to improving your score. This will also let you run through dungeons even faster! However, fight too few battles, and your deck and Muses may not be strong enough to take on the boss and Elite foes awaiting you. Striking this delicate balance will earn you a top score!

Dungeon Rewards

Clearing a dungeon will unlock new difficulty levels.

Higher difficulties will not only increase enemy stats, but also add new and interesting twists to battles with special rules. Earn a high enough score when clearing a dungeon to unlock up to 3 new difficulties at once! Clearing a dungeon will also earn “Decode Tokens” which are used to power up your player character.

Each new difficulty level you tackle means more tokens to earn. You can spend them to improve the odds on every dungeon you tackle, to improve your drop rates, Cheat Codes, HP, and more!

Theme Song: “To the Promised Sky”!

Card-en-Ciel features 50 vocal songs performed by the Muses in-game. These songs are created for the fictional game universes as if they were the real theme songs, battle themes, and endings, all composed in the style and genres of the appropriate eras. Today, we are revealing the theme song of Card-en-Ciel itself, performed by Ancie’s Japanese voice actress, Ruriko Noguchi, with a special music video!

If it’s not too much to ask, could you provide a rundown of Mario and Peach’s relationship throughout the history of the games — any developer insights and supporting material included if applicable? Their interactions have never failed to make me smile; I feel like every moment between them, no matter how simple, elevate my enjoyment of the games.

Do you have a favorite moment? For me, I think the ending of the first Paper Mario is my definitive Mario and Peach moment. Everything from the music to the scenery to how innocent it plays out perfectly encapsulates their relationship.

While other series, like Splatoon or The Legend of Zelda tend to have a greater focus on their worldbuilding and backstory, I think Mario’s greatest strength when it comes to its lore is its rich characters and how their relationships come together. You don’t follow the same main cast in The Legend of Zelda for more than a game or two at a time. With Mario, well - he’s always the same Mario. He’s familiar, and his personality is so strong that he continues to be the Mario we know, no matter the medium. It seems that Mario’s current primary developers, Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kenta Motokura, feel the same way:

"No matter what worlds he takes on, Mario remains Mario. Maybe this is strange but I find that fact very comforting,"

That’s not to say that Mario doesn’t have quite in-depth worldbuilding and backstory as well, but I think these characters are greatly understood by the people who work with them while largely being overlooked, misunderstood or written off by fans.

This is why relationships, like the one shared between Mario and Peach, can be such a highlight for players.

Mario and Peach, while not explicitly dating, are absolutely smitten with each other.

In fact, it seems that Mario instantly fell in love with Peach the moment he saw her, when she kissed him in Super Mario Bros.. Mario was so in love with Princess Peach that, according to the team behind Donkey Kong (Game Boy), it’s what caused Mario to break up with Pauline:

“Apparently the land of mushrooms is somehow in the vicinity of Donkey Kong's stomping ground that appears at the end [of Donkey Kong (Game Boy)]. Around that point, he meets Peach, and probably starts to have a change of heart [about Pauline] (laughs).”

Paper Mario in its entirety is certainly a great example of Mario and Peach’s relationship. While the ending where they watch the fireworks is a highlight, the intro also showcases her attempts to spend time with Mario, eagerly awaiting him in the upper parts of the castle and wanting him to accompany her to the balcony.

She gets worried about him while she’s kidnapped:

“I wonder what Mario is doing right now... I wonder if he's hurt... I'm so worried about him!”

Later on, we even learn that Princess Peach keeps a photo of Mario beside her bed, which she reacts to with a heart emoticon:

“A photo of Mario.♥”

She even gets embarrassed about it when Twink points it out.

Generally, the game makes an effort to highlight Mario and Peach’s love for each other beyond most other games in the series:

“Do you know of a place called Shooting Star Summit? It's near this castle. It's such a romantic place... It's definitely the best place for a date. Trust me. Maybe you ought to, you know, ask the princess to go there...”

Princess Peach has a very specific view of love, which she has actually expressed before in-game:

“Love... How do I explain? Love tells you when you want to be with a person forever. It makes you feel happy just to see that person happy, smiling...having fun. When you love someone, you will do anything to help when he or she is in trouble.”

It’s pretty clear that when she says this, she’s thinking about Mario, between his obvious outwardly happy nature or his willingness to do anything to help her when she’s in trouble. This is reflected in Peach’s own actions in Super Princess Peach, when she saves Mario from Bowser’s clutches. It’s clear from her actions across various games that Peach would do anything to help Mario, and she’s comforted by him even in times of peril.

From taking Mario on a romantic vacation in Super Mario Sunshine, to talking about how caring he is with her paper counterpart, to her team name with him being “Cutest Couple” in Mario Party 5 and Mario Party 6, it’s clear that these two have a strong, devoted and loving relationship with one-another.

But when it comes to my personal favorite moment between them, I feel that my answer is quite a controversial one.

My favourite moment between Mario and Peach is the ending of Super Mario Odyssey.

Now, now. Put your pitchforks away. The main issue with this is that people tend to completely misinterpret the meaning behind this ending, and while I’m not going to go into too much detail here, I think it’s important to understand the intended themes of Super Mario Odyssey.

It’s clear that Super Mario Odyssey’s story exists to highlight the intricacies of the relationship between Peach and Mario in ways that hadn’t been explored previously. This is why the ending of Super Mario Odyssey is so excellent to me.

“The ending of Super Mario Odyssey is the culmination of an adventure both magnificent and personal. An upbeat song plays in the background while the scene unfolds: the joy of being reunited with someone you've missed, the slight embarrassment that comes with thinking of the one you love, Mario and Bowser's open honesty, and Peach's independence. Through the theme of marriage - which had never been addressed in the series before we see another side of Mario, Peach, and Bowser. The relationship between the three looks like it'll continue for years to come. The odyssey they've embarked on is far from over!”

Mario finally makes his feelings known to Peach, through a proposal, but he does so in the worst possible way. Peach refuses to marry Mario because he was acting immaturely. Mario cannot handle losing control of a bad situation and often makes rash decisions. While the latter is sometimes a positive trait for him, in this instance it’s a flaw which caused him to fight Bowser for Peach’s hand. You can hear Mario grunting while attempting to push Bowser out of the way and get Peach to accept him.

This is not the Mario that Peach knows. It is not the Mario that she loves. Peach had just been kidnapped from her home, dragged around the world and almost forcefully married to a man she’s romantically repulsed by. She was rescued by the man she loves in the nick of time who was finally about to make his move and propose to her, before Bowser barged back in and ruined the moment, and Mario started acting irrationally. She was fed up, and rightfully so.

So she turns down Mario’s proposal, and leaves. Peach does not turn down Mario’s proposal because she doesn’t love him - it’s abundantly clear that she loves him very much - she turns him down because it was the wrong place, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons.

However, her love for the Mario she knows still rings true. Their relationship is so strong that even after all of that, they quickly recover, as is illuminated through Peach’s forgiveness. She takes a breath and calls out to Mario, inviting him to come home with her. It’s a showcase of the love they share for one-another, one more potent than we’ve seen before anywhere else. A truly well-crafted study of these characters and the intricacies of their interwoven lives.
