how to explain to someone who is so removed from nature or any production chains that they think all domestic pokemon are either pets or companions for some sports that sometimes pokemon have jobs? (i have no idea how someone from a city has never seen an electric type assisting an electrician but uh. uh uh). she also almost accused me of being cruel for not running to stop a staraptor from hunting a buneary (buneary won btw) so I am not sure they have a concept of nature beyond cute images.

HUH, I guess some people have never seen a pokenature documentary in their lives?? Treating 'mons with respect and humanizing them are two wildly different things, and the latter usually ends up with poorly socialized little things with separation anxiety

Also, giving a Pokemon proper enrichment is extremely important for their well-being, and sometimes, that means having a "job". The BEST example you can give are chanseys??? They literally thrive helping people, and if your "friend" has been to a pokemon center, they have seen at least one working there. So chansey, audino, etc. are the best examples, they want to work!

How do you feel about lillipup or Stoutland?

You know what, sure, we'll make this one about the whole family: Lillipup, Herdier, and Stoutland.

They're tough little guys! They're super fluffy! Lillipup could be the first pokemon you catch in pokemon black or white, and it could remain a solid team member all the way to the end. Very loyal. They even get the uncommon ability Sand Rush when they evolve, which makes them very cool pseudo-ground-types and provides a very fun mental image. This old man wants to play in the sand so bad.

I also have a soft spot for Stoutland for the role it plays in the pokemon sun and moon anime. I won't go into detail, but just know that it plays a part in one of the most mature and emotionally resonant storylines I've seen in any children's show.

Stoutland have very long fur, which needs to be washed at least twice a week and brushed at least once a day. Some farmers prefer a shorter haircut, done with special tools, to make this less of a problem.

It's also recommended their fur get trimmed if you live in hot climates. They may be upset about their mustaches being trimmed, but it's important to make sure they don't get heat sick.

With that said, avoid trimming the fur around their faces; it serves an important sensory purpose and the their reaction times will be dulled until it grows back.

Trainers also don't normally trim their fur because it provides them extra protection in battle.

The line doesn't bark naturally, but they can learn to bark if around other Pokemon that do.

The line is one of the most intelligent out of all the canine Pokemon. Stimulation is a necessity, either through training or things like slow-release treat balls.

They are obsessed with herding small creatures, and are also good at training and caring for young Pokemon. Many breeders like to keep them around to help monitor newly-hatched Pokemon.

Stoutland are frequently used as service Pokemon, especially for the blind. They are also sometimes used in therapy due to their intelligent and gentle nature.

Stoutland. It's a big dog pokemon. I have no intense emotions about it. Appears to be a good boi.

Chandelure is FUCKIN AWESOME. You go you animated spooky lamp. You go. Several gym trainers I've worked with have had chandelure. Zoe has Fuji who is a lampent lad, and they are a nice quiet pokemon with a little sass.

smeargle! he's not on my main team anymore (old boy and unlike lycanroc, isn't crazy about battling), but i have one and absolutely adore him. he was my beloved assistant during my mangaka days! would've NEVER met my deadlines without his help!

24 . what's the rarest pokémon you've met? Thats a tricky question. I have mentioned before on this blog that I might have met Jirachi, which would certainly be rare, but again, I'm not sure if that really happened, or if it was just a dream.

I will say the rarest pokémon that I am certain I have met is probably a stoutland. Someone was on vacation from Unova and brought him along. He got off his leash and pounced on me! He was just playing, the poor thing, but I screamed. All I registered was a very large pokémon running right at me!

He was a terribly sweet pokémon, and I assured the trainer I was quite alright after he pried the slobbery monster off of me. Stoutland don't naturally live in Hoenn, so it was a very rare sighting for me, haha.

Hi there! I wanted to preface this by saying that your submas and Nimbasa trio art are awesome, and I adore the way you draw them and write their interactions ❤��� . Their expressions, the way they move and interact with each other and the world around them, it's great 👍.

There's something I wanted to ask regarding your comics, and I ask this with the utmost respect 🙏, because it's something I've been wondering: where are their parents? It's awesome that they do all this stuff together, but the parents are, like, never brought up. Not even Elesa's after her introduction to the twins. And Ik that in the Pokemon verse, you're free to do whatever at age 10, but I still wanted to ask in your comics, at least, since they're still so young, if there's going to be any mentions of them.

I don't want you to feel pressured to draw designs for their parents or anything like that! It's perfectly understandable if you've never thought of the subject, I just wanted to know if they're still in the picture or if, for drama effect, they're orphans adopted by uncle Drayden in your lore. (Ofc, if you believe in the uncle Drayden theory, that is).

And once again, thank you for all the work you do! You're awesome, and your art is awesome 👌. And I really hope this ask doesn't come off as mean or offensive, I'm just really curious about anything you'd be willing to give about submas parents. Thank you 😊 for everything once again. Going to be honest, I didn’t really think about them parents much— pokemon treats most parent figures as non-entities, so… yeah. Feral teenagers running around.

If you want to hear my rambling though! (Note that this is all work in progress! Things are inclined to change.)

Worldbuilding for this iteration, I like to think it’s cultural that everybody has a pokemon starter/ ace that they grow with, but it depends on individuals to decide how close their lives intertwine. That in mind,

Ingo and emmet have two moms! Their ma’ is drayden’s twin sister— Kaita, haxorous ace, and a dragon specialist. And their mother, Lucielle, a stoutland ace, works as a full time trainer. The ladies are a bit absent from the twin’s life because they have their own business, but like to send Ingo and Emmet stuff from wherever they roam. (They tried their best when the kids were younger. But talking about having kids, and actually raising kids are two different topics in life.)

Drayden serves as an uncle figure for the twins, but he’s a bit bitter he got two patrats dumped on him.

((Does the lack of parent figures and a distant uncle have lasting effects on ingo and emmet? That’s up for your interpretation. Though it would explain latching onto each other and then later litwick and tynamo…))

As for the pachirisu child—

Elesa’s parents are separated. Her dad, Rin, works a full time desk job. He means the best, but he’s never home. He lost his staraptor a while back and is still dealing with the grieving process, and isn’t really equipped to look after a kid on top of all that. Elesa’s mom, Himawari, is still in Sinnoh and works as a ranger. Her ace is a solrock.

(Why are they separated? That’s for you guys to postulate! I am simply throwing ocs at the wall.)

Elesa was moved to unova partially due to her dad’s new job, and partially due to that Entire Nebulous Situation. She adapts fast, but it’s not a fun adaption.

Anyways, the twins and elesa in turn grew up very independent as a result.

i feel like when it comes to soap and gaz, they would give their partner a nickname from the get go, the second they got their 'mons.

soap had that growlithe since he was a kid, the pup was a gift from his cousin. why didn't it evolve into an arcanine? well, the pup swallowed an everstone one time and soap now just has this tiny dog friend wtih him. probably named something stupid like lord/sir burnsalot or something of that nature. totally was too embarrassed to list it on his file so he just said his name is wildfire. at least it's cool 😂

gaz was given the riolu by his old co before he joined 141, so i'd imagine he hasn't had much time (especially since it's still a riolu). i feel like he's give it a name like luca or something.

price however i feel like doesn't name his stoutland/lilipup at first, but over the time everyone else just started giving them a name. i think one time his superior called his lilipup a random name, like scott or something, which somehow ended up with everyone else calling the pup scott. price realized that it'll be hard to call the pup without a nickname, so he just decided to stick with scott. it's an eerie-ly normal name that sometimes a recruit or so would end up coming together with the pup when he called.

ghost isn't really one to name his pokemon. he thinks it's useless especially since his houndoom always sticks to his side no matter what, never venturing too far from his side. he can just call them "hey" or "you" and the houndoom understands. though his colleagues has various nickname for the lovely girl, like price and gaz calls the dog isabella/bella, soap calls her lady anklebiter because she bites his ankles a lot.

Pokemon Au: What if Saffron has a team of rare pokemon even though she not a battler? She doesn't get mythical or legendary Pokemon but stuff like Volcarona, Zoroark, Glimmora, Three-segment Dudusprace, and/or Absol for examples.

"I'm back!" Terra walked in from the kitchen, smiling at her returning wife. "Did you miss me?" Saphron grunted as she was tackled by her wife, hugging and kissing her as she was hugged and kissed.

"How was work?" Terra asked.

"You mean my week of sitting around and having my team take out any Grimm that was dumb enough to get close?"

"Sounds like you had fun."

"Not really." Saphron took off her coat, hanging it by the door. "If anything, the only good thing about this job is keeping you and Adrian safe... Well, that, and the lien that I get paid."

"Well, huntress reserves aside, Adrian and Stuffy have been itching to see you again."

"Oh, yeah?" Saphron chuckled. "And where are those two hiding?"

Suddenly, Saphron was on the floor, crushed by the combined weight of her 30-pound son, Adrian, and his 134-pound Stoutland best friend, Stuffy. Adrian carefully slid off from Stuffy, giving his mommy hugs and kisses while the Big-Hearted Pokémon lapped at where Adrian hadn't kissed her. Tugging Adrian away, Stuffy sat with fluffy butt wagging as Saphron stood to her feet, wiping her face.

"I'll be honest, that's a new one." Terra giggled as her wife groaned.

"Well, there's some other good news you might be interested in." Terra said, notably hiding something behind her back. "How would you like to go visit your brother?"

I’m doing an earlier trick-or-treating run with Mudsdale and Stoutland today so we can be around the ranch for other trick-or-treaters.
