Hi there! I wanted to preface this by saying that your submas and Nimbasa trio art are awesome, and I adore the way you draw them and write their interactions ❤️ . Their expressions, the way they move and interact with each other and the world around them, it's great 👍.
There's something I wanted to ask regarding your comics, and I ask this with the utmost respect 🙏, because it's something I've been wondering: where are their parents? It's awesome that they do all this stuff together, but the parents are, like, never brought up. Not even Elesa's after her introduction to the twins. And Ik that in the Pokemon verse, you're free to do whatever at age 10, but I still wanted to ask in your comics, at least, since they're still so young, if there's going to be any mentions of them.
I don't want you to feel pressured to draw designs for their parents or anything like that! It's perfectly understandable if you've never thought of the subject, I just wanted to know if they're still in the picture or if, for drama effect, they're orphans adopted by uncle Drayden in your lore. (Ofc, if you believe in the uncle Drayden theory, that is).
And once again, thank you for all the work you do! You're awesome, and your art is awesome 👌. And I really hope this ask doesn't come off as mean or offensive, I'm just really curious about anything you'd be willing to give about submas parents. Thank you 😊 for everything once again. Your work is greatly appreciated 🙏.
:0!
Going to be honest, I didn’t really think about them parents much— pokemon treats most parent figures as non-entities, so… yeah. Feral teenagers running around.
If you want to hear my rambling though! (Note that this is all work in progress! Things are inclined to change.)
Worldbuilding for this iteration, I like to think it’s cultural that everybody has a pokemon starter/ ace that they grow with, but it depends on individuals to decide how close their lives intertwine. That in mind,
Ingo and emmet have two moms! Their ma’ is drayden’s twin sister— Kaita, haxorous ace, and a dragon specialist. And their mother, Lucielle, a stoutland ace, works as a full time trainer. The ladies are a bit absent from the twin’s life because they have their own business, but like to send Ingo and Emmet stuff from wherever they roam. (They tried their best when the kids were younger. But talking about having kids, and actually raising kids are two different topics in life.)
Drayden serves as an uncle figure for the twins, but he’s a bit bitter he got two patrats dumped on him.
((Does the lack of parent figures and a distant uncle have lasting effects on ingo and emmet? That’s up for your interpretation. Though it would explain latching onto each other and then later litwick and tynamo…))
As for the pachirisu child—
Elesa’s parents are separated. Her dad, Rin, works a full time desk job. He means the best, but he’s never home. He lost his staraptor a while back and is still dealing with the grieving process, and isn’t really equipped to look after a kid on top of all that. Elesa’s mom, Himawari, is still in Sinnoh and works as a ranger. Her ace is a solrock.
(Why are they separated? That’s for you guys to postulate! I am simply throwing ocs at the wall.)
Elesa was moved to unova partially due to her dad’s new job, and partially due to that Entire Nebulous Situation. She adapts fast, but it’s not a fun adaption.
Anyways, the twins and elesa in turn grew up very independent as a result.
And that’s the barebones!

I've been rotating @cuz-reasons's submas parents in my head all weekend and decided to throw some of my sketches onto the computer. Their names are Mel and Nico!
Also I love the idea from this post that they met in a Subway sort of place XD I think it's cute.

They look so perfect, so sweet, I’m gonna cry😭😭😭😭
I’m framing this.
Ooo! I’ve been stupidly excited and waiting for this moment! None of the ocs are mine, but I love them so much and I had to do a coin flip several times fk see which ones to ask for. But could you draw smallestapplin’s oc Arthur? Or Ro’s Emily? I think them as the twin’s parents is so cute 🥰
Why not both? Tbh I couldn’t find their character sheets so some of this is improvised, I did my best 🥲

But the twins know
They know how much Dilf energy Reader radiates
kudos to our dilf kings out there, this is for you Submas x Dilf reader
Reader uses He/They pronouns! NSFW MENTION IN HERE 🔞 ADULTS ONLY
As if taking care of a Pokemon wasn't already enough work, you were the father of a son as well. Your son came unexpectedly in your life, coming from a broken relationship. Your previous partner was kind to you but not to your son and when you found out about your child's mistreatment, you immediately reported it and gained full custody after a month of deliberation. Your son, Ronin, was doing much better now. Over the past two years, you've been slow and steady with him, going to therapy to ensure his mental well being and happiness. He's doing much better now which made you more relieved. You were so focused in taking care of your son that you weren't really allowing yourself to have the opportunity too seek out romantic partners. Obviously you would have liked to have a partner or two, but where would you go and look? Generally speaking, people entertain the idea of dating a dad but not committing to the dad's kid. Then one day, it happened. You were absolutely certain Ronin was right next to you but when you were exiting the subway train, he didn't follow behind you, and subsequently was left behind.
When you realized what happened, you tried to turn back in time but it was too late. The doors had closed and the subway train took off. "No, NO, wait!!!" you yelled as the train took off.
When you exited the train, someone came with you. Emmet, one of the subway bosses noticed you.
"I am Emmet," he said with a smile. "Can I-"
"My kid was on that train, he's all alone!"
Immediately, Emmet's eyes widen and he pulls out a walkie talkie from his jacket pocket. He immediately conveys the urgency of the situation, a 7 year old child all alone on a train by himself! Terrible scenarios played through your mind but immediately, Emmet takes control of the situation, taking your hand and swiftly guiding you onto the next Subway train.
While on the train, you give Emmet an accurate description of Ronin, including the clothes he was wearing. He relays that information through his radio. It was an agonizing 15 minute wait until you saw your child again.
When you exited to the next station, you saw Subway Boss Ingo with your son in his lap, reading to him the book he had brought on the train with him.
"Noo, you're kidding!" Ronin giggled and laughed.
"No, I'm quite serious. There was a time a train exploded because someone's bottom was much too big. They sat on something and it resulted in the train breaking," Ingo said with a smile in his voice but not his face.
"Ronin!" You cry out as you run over, arms wide and ready.
Ronin sees and hears you and gently gets off Ingo's lap before running over to you, hugging your legs. You immediately kneel down to inspect him, turning his head this way and that, asking questions if he was hurt.
Ronin giggled, not aware of how dangerous the situation was at all and happily chirped, "No! I'm ok. Mr. Ingo was here."
You sigh, relieved and thank the twins profusely, apologizing for the trouble. The twins can't help but to blush when they see your smile.
You were eye candy to the twins and you were as sweet as you were handsome. Emmet originally approached you because he thought you were attractive but as you were on the train ride with him, he saw how much you loved your son. Ingo was charmed by your doting nature, as he envisioned himself to be in your shoes every once in a while, having daydreams of fatherhood.
After that day, you began to see them more often. You would see Ingo during the morning and Emmet in the evening usually, due to the trains you took to get from Anville Town to Nimbasa City. They were always kind to you and Ronin.
Ingo and Emmet would talk not just to you, but Ronin as well. When it was the morning, you eventually picked up on the habit of buying Ingo a cup of coffee and a cup of cocoa for Ronin, the three of you enjoying your hot drinks as you rode the train. Ronin loved when Ingo was reading books to him so much that Ingo went and bought children's books about trains for him. During the evening train ride, Emmet would allow Ronin to play with one of his Joltiks, but there would be a chance in which Ronin fell asleep. One time he fell asleep in Emmet's lap.
You weren't really aware of what kind of effect you had on the twins, despite how much time you've spent together by now. You were a handsome man, a sweet father, and a kind friend. You had a toothy grin, had a great belly laugh, and loved their company. The twins wanted to rail you verrrry badly.
Emmet jokes about calling you "daddy," wondering if you'd like to be called that. Ingo thinks about you in bed at night, thinking about not just a loving domestic house life with you, but how you are in bed, your pretty mouth around his fat cock… Emmet really wants a piece of your ass, wondering if you liked to be the bottom or the top. Either way, both twins really want you.
You're sort of unaware of all this still, having spent so long not dating anyone. You haven't dated anyone since you took custody of Ronin so you were pretty oblivious to all of the flirting the two tried to do. Not to say you didn't like the twins, you really did. But the idea of both twins wanting to date you and be a potential father for Ronin is beyond you. You just saw yourself as a Joe Schmoe kind of guy, not realizing just how fucking good you are.
The twins agonize over this. They want to convey that they like you! But it's hard to do that when Ronin is constantly with you since they don't want to impose on him as well.
But they'll figure out a way to talk to you. To get to know you, they really want to date you now. The twins sigh and lament, trying to figure out a way to ask you out.
One day, both of the twins are riding the morning train with you. Ronin immediately runs up to them and hugs them both, hugging Ingo first to which Emmet pouts, "Where's my hug?" Ronin laughs and hugs him immediately after.
You all sit down with drinks for everyone and make small talk for a while. Ronin is excited because there's a classroom Pokemon, a Caterpie that everyone is taking care of. Emmet talks excitedly about whether or not they get to battle with it. Ingo talks extensively about how to care for one.
Before you exit the train, you tell the twins, "By the way, check your guys' cups." The twins blink and stare at the cup you've given them to see your phone number on there! They stand there, baffled, faces red and you give them a wink and a smile before departing. The twins wait for you to leave, their eyes on your backside until you disappear before they start hollering and hooting about who gets to go on a date with you first.

emmet already knew what happened to ingo. it was obvious. veeerrrryyyyy obvious. but not to others, he supposes. it’s fine. emmet is nothing but a patient man. he can wait a while until the others finally come across a clue.
ever since he was a boy, emmet knew more things than everyone. puzzles? he already knew the answer before being given it. new learning material. seemingly everything was memorized perfectly in mere moments. mysteries? give him one he’ll enjoy ad it’ll be done in five minutes max. of course this meant he always knew what the outcome of a battle would be but he always put his all in it. after all, a battle is not fun unless both participants are serious about it. it wouldn’t be fair to either party otherwise.
gear station already had measures in place in case if either boss or both bosses went missing. the station was using plan ingo when emmet was taken in for questioning about ingo’s disappearance. nobody in nimbasa thought of him at fault for his brother’s disappearance but it was mostly a safety precaution. also to get the league off of the city’s metaphorical back. emmet kept the knowledge of what happened to himself, it would only cause problems for the station and he would hate for his employees and passengers to deal with everything the league would have in store for them. instead, he claimed he was doing his own investigation but was being slowed down with all the work he was doing to keep the subway running. that unfortunately didn’t satisfy the league.
emmet was getting quite tired of them. verrrryyy tired. he needed a break. but he also didn’t want to leave the station. just because he knew practically everything didn’t mean he saw his employees taking charge and making him use some of his years worth of vacation days. and also sending him to hoenn of all regions. at least it isn't kalos?
now, what will he do when he's on vacation? help people. obviously. emmet is a public worker at heart and he loves to help others. he manages to set up a detective agency and get a fitting wardrobe (courtesy of elesa) in two weeks. he quickly gains notoriety in the local town's population for how quickly he's able to solve cases and how he seemingly knows everything. of course he doesn't do this under his actual name. where would the fun in that be? he gives himself a pen name, like authors do.
edogawa ranpo.
that's what the people know him as.
the people know that ranpo worked solo for two months until the mysterious additions of "edgar allan poe" and "nancy springer" to the agency. little did emmet know (even with knowing almost everything) that introducing them would kickstart another journey to go on. this time with much more on the line.

day 25 for @monthofemmet is "emmet and your oc'", and I've realized that. i don't think I've posted my submas parents here to tumblr yet! so here's one of them, named Briar.
carrying little emmet on their shoulders!
Tumblr media
and here's another doodle of when both of them are older, when Ingo disappears. Emmet is having a bad time and just wants the comfort of his dad, and Briar is... also having a bad time.

I have a mini submas au in my head where after ingo's disappearance, they hired a new guy to essentially fill ingo's spot so the battle subway can keep running. Everyone low-key hates their guts for what they represent but they know they need them there.

So this post got stuck in my head again.
Baby Sabi variant of I Told You So go brrrrrrrrrrr.
Some fluff under the cut -- and Emmet struggling with that thing that every parent of a baby does at some point: comforting the Wailing One.
"You are being verrrry loud."
The infant continued to scream.
Emmet released the largest of sighs and shifted her in his arms, bringing her up a bit higher against his chest. Her round face was puffy and red -- distress incarnate, it seemed.
"Extremely loud," he deadpanned. "Yet I feel like I've heard louder. Still. You are being loud. Why?"
Sabi squirmed, finally lapsing into precious silence to draw breath.
Snuggled down in the nest, Lord Braviary grumbled and peeked his head over the rim of sticks and down.
"Do you want to cuddle with Braviary? Is that it?"
Her lungs had been filled, and she set about emptying them for the umpteenth time.
He couldn't see anything wrong, which was what made this entire situation so... infuriating? Bothersome?
Concerning?
Emmet wondered -- not for the first time -- how, in all the world, he had wound up like this. Lord Braviary had picked him, and that he could understand the Clan abiding with.
But the tiny orphan he was currently holding while the moon crept towards its midnight zenith?
Baffling.
She was distinctly unhappy, clearly indescribably so -- though, if one asked him, he'd say she was doing a fantastic job of describing her misery despite her nonexistent vocabulary -- and apparently hurting, if the desperate edge to her tone did anything.
Well, her tone, and the odd buzz in the back of his head. It was almost like panic, though subtle, and it didn't shut up no matter how much he mentally swatted at it.
He knew that maternal instincts were strange, if logical things, but paternal instincts were an oddity that he'd never heard of -- assuming that that was what this incessant need to comfort was.
"Would a kiss help?" he offered, half sarcastic, and was met with still more dismay and distress.
Sighing again and desperately nearing defeat -- down would hurt to stuff in his ears, but he couldn't calm her down and he needed to sleep -- he leaned down and gently kissed her tiny forehead. It was feverishly hot from her fussing, especially in contrast with the chilly Icelands air.
Yet -- she quieted at that, prying her bright eyes open to peer up at him.
"... What?" He blinked at her, and she blinked at him. "Was. Was that all you wanted?"
Could babies be petty? He didn't know. Human babies were outside his area of expertise -- and he didn't know how he knew that, he just did, don't ask -- and that included their capacity for grudges, pettiness, mischief, and all other manners of intentional tomfoolery.
But, no, she hiccuped, and her tiny hands were wiggling under her blankets -- she looked like a tiny Cascoon that had been kicked in the face.
Another peck on her forehead, and she babbled, sparing his ears the symphony of misery she'd been conducting.
"... Is it your head?" he asked, leaning back to tilt his head at her. He shifted her to one arm, lifting his free hand to tap at her forehead.
She gurgled, squirming like she wanted to lean up against his hand -- he finagled the glove off, exposing his fingers to the cold air, and pressed his hand to her head.
Well.
As excessive as her methods of conveying the agony of a headache may have been, he could sympathize somewhat.
Braviary clucked from his nest, and he lifted a wing as Emmet looked up at him.
Emmet stared at his Noble for a moment, then looked down at where his bedding lay rumpled on the ground. It had most likely gone cold.
He huffed, softly, and plucked up a pillow, keeping a tight hold on Sabi as he bend to pick it up. She giggled at the motion, down-and-up, apparently in much better spirits.
Lord Braviary rumbled deep in his throat as Emmet clambered up into the nest and settled under his wing. The Noble was exceptionally warm, all fluffy and soft, and it was like being smacked in the face with solid Sleep Powder.
"Okay," he said, patting Sabi's head. She blinked her big, green eyes at him slowly, headache forgotten already under the crushing weight of sleepiness. "Back to sleep. For you. And for me."
He cut off with a yawn.
"Sleepytime junction is now boarding...."
Sabi cooed at that, a little, "'eeby," that was almost a word falling from her mouth as she fell asleep.
Emmet followed soon after, and Lord Braviary after him, huddled in the cozy nest.

What would of happened in the zoroark possession au if the parents hadn't died?
OUGH.
Now that is a painful thing to consider. What if their parents didn't die, and therefore they were never freed from being under their thumb? I can't imagine it would go very well for Ingo- they likely wouldn't let up on their poor treatment of him, and would continue to isolate him from Emmet as much as possible... I don't think Emmet would go along with it, but there'd definitely be a distance between the two of them.
It's also very easy to imagine Ingo taking the first out of the situation he can get- he leaves on his 'trainer journey' at fourteen. He still tries to keep up communication with Emmet, but tries not to be obvious about it because he doesn't want to get Emmet in trouble. As for Emmet's part, he's out of there as soon as he turns eighteen and goes to track Ingo down. He's free! He doesn't have to listen to his parents anymore! No one can stop him!
Ingo makes his money off of Pokemon battles those first few years before he gets his first job at the railyard. He doesn't have to pretend he's not also interested in trains anymore! I imagine he works as part of the janitorial staff at first (where he picks up his Trubbish), and eventually ends up working on the Battle Subway as a Depot Agent. Emmet is happy to join him at that job!!!
It takes the two of them awhile to connect and really get in sync, since they've spent so long with either a forced distance between the two of them or a LITERAL distance, but they're still brothers. They're still close.
(And Ingo still keeps his secrets.)

So, I may have made a couple of parent ocs for the twins. I've never, like, done anything like this before since ocs never really interested me, but seeing all of the different takes other people have had for their parents and my own enjoyment of repetitivly "small town-ifying" them made me wanna try it out.
Now I'm left with parent ocs that I love.
They're names are Mel and Nico and there's a bunch of more info about them under the cut if you're interested! Also, feel free to ask about them!
Mel:
Short for Mellisa, but only her family (and sometimes Nico) calls her that
The twins get most of their looks from her (grey eyes, tall, bit of a toothpick), although she's kinda built so the toothpick genes aren't that visible in her
Worked as a car/other vehicle mechanic, retired now but still pops into the shop a couple times a week to help out but mostly for fun now
Drives a motorcycle, didn't let the boys on it when they were small so only really uses it if it's just her/only with Nico
Was never really that interested in battling, has an old Scolipede from when she was young and took in a Scrafty that was abandoned at the shop as a Scraggy a couple years after the boys moved out.
Had a sister (idk her name yet) that she was close to, but she died when the boys were around 12 or so
Loud
Bisexual and will make it your problem
Didn't really care if the boys swore when they were kids, swore in front of them
Nico:
Short for Nicandro, only parents call him that
Much shorter than his wife and sons, is lovingly made fun of for this
Emmet, and occasionally Ingo, like to tease him for being old
Boys get their grey hair from him
Paldean, moved to Unova when he was around 10
Has a few siblings, no one is really close with each other. Not due to anything bad, just from drifting apart and not really contacting each other anymore.
Has a Wugtrio he had since he was a kid and an Orthworm he caught during a trip back to Paldea in his early 20s
Also not much of a battler, prefers to fish
Man, he loves fishing
"Hmm, my son is upset? I'll take him fishing."
Not the best with words, would rather give people things or take them places to show he cares
"I love my tall wife." Kinda guy
Also bisexual, but no one expects it and thinks it's funny to surprise people with it
Would rather the boys didn't swear as kids
Uh, that's the sort of basics I got for them so far. I'm trying to flesh them out more with some of the prompts for that November prompt list I'm following. I'll mention when a fic is about them or features them!
Again, feel free to ask any questions you have!

Day 29 (Alt): Fears/Worries
(This chapter depicts the end of a funeral and has talks about parental death. If this is something that may upset or trigger you, feel free to skip.)
Emmet found her sitting on the bench under the tree further down the path, pulling her hair out of the Ponytatail it had been constrained in. With a sigh, Emmet sits down next to her and leans against the back of the bench. “Are you ok, Iris?”
As he had sat down, she had jolted in surprise, and was now looking up at him. “I'm fine,” she says quietly as she looks out across the cemetery. “What about you?”
Emmet nods pensively as he closes his eyes. “Mmm. I am Emmet. I… admit that I have trouble showing sorrow.” He breathes in, and then out as he leans forward. “Today is a lot. It… is reminding me we all…”
“Die,” Iris softly finishes. Emmet nods, and opens his eyes to look at the scene several dozen yards away.
In front of his father’s grave, Drayden and Ingo are currently knelt down to console his mother as she cries into the freshly packed earth. Ingo had visible tears running down his face still, and even from this distance, Drayden’s shaking was noticeable despite his attempts to hide it.
“How long do you think Grandpa has?” Iris asks after a moment, her voice weak. “He’s a lot older than Gruncle Fring.” Normally a ball of exuberance, the young Champion seems to shrink into herself as she brings up her knees to hide behind.
“Plenty of time,” Emmet says without pause. “Uncle Drayden may be older, but he is much healthier. He…”
Drayden was looking thinner than he had been. Ever since the Neo Team Plasma incident when half of Opelucid had been frozen, he had been pushing himself to keep the city safer and safer, with Iris occasionally calling one of the twins or their parents to get them to get him to rest. There had been progress, but when Ingo and Emmet’s father had begun to fall ill, Drayden began to slip again.
“He will make it,” Emmet says in a soft tone. “Mom and him have to.” The other option was unthinkable.
