I can finally show off my illustration for @cosmere-mini-bang! I've been working alongside the wonderful author, Rose, to bring their fic, The Fibonacci Sequence, to life. I mostly do character portraits so it was a fun challenge to figure out how to create a full composition with backgrounds and all. It took a little over a month to finish the illustration. 33 hours in total. Illustration progression below! Finally the day is here! Here's the collab I've been working on alongside with @truthwatcher-vez and @havens.end (insta) for the @cosmere-mini-bang

Haven and I did ilustrations for Progression. A beautiful fanfic by @truthwatcher-vez starring Renarin and Rysn and a moment of truly understanding between them. Such lovely characters I've loved since the first time I met them reading the stormlight archive.

I think this is the first time I can say I am living something as big in terms of fandom. I am really happy about finding the cosmere and people with the same love and interest in it. 💕

Collab fic writer is the amazing YourLocalTiredTruthwatcher @localtiredtruthwatcher

The fic is titled "I'll Keep You Out of the Dark (If I Only Could)", featuring Jasnah & Elhokar, the underappreciated siblings, with their behind-the-main-screen stories (which I'm really intrigued to read but hasn't been much covered in the canon text).

The fic is well-constructed and we also have some baby Gavinor. Read it to the end and you might find yourself cry hard 😭

It's quite fun to do fic art. Thanks so much for the opportunity!

What is a Big Bang/Mini Bang?

From Fanlore:

A Big Bang (or “Bang” for short) is a specific type of challenge usually involving long fics and accompanying artwork. This type of challenge is a reprise of the old zine tradition of collaboration between artists and writers for internet fandoms. Most Big Bangs have a similar format: Writers sign up to take part in the challenge and begin writing stories. When the early drafts of the stories are available, each one is assigned one or more artists, or artists might claim stories from posted summaries. Artists create fanart to go along with the story. This art can take the form of illustrations, manips, photo collages, vids, icon sets, etc.

Mini bangs are similar to big bangs, but are smaller in scope, with a smaller word count requirement than traditional big bangs.

So, what exactly is the word minimum?

We’ve set up two tracks for this event: the Mini Bang and the Petite Bang.

For the Mini track: writers are expected to write a minimum of 3k words. Artists should create one simple piece to accompany their writer’s fic—the definition of a “simple” piece is up to artist discretion, but should approximately match the amount of work writers put into their fic.

For the Petite track: writers are expected to write a minimum of 10k words. Artists should create one complex piece OR two simple pieces—again, definitions are up to artist discretion.

How long do I have to do this? 

Writer sign-ups are open from Wednesday, May 1 to Wednesday, June 12, and are expected to have 50% of their work done by Sunday, August 4, at which point they will be asked to provide a summary and excerpt of their fic for artist claims. 

Artist sign-ups are open from Wednesday, May 1 to Wednesday, July 31. Claims happen a few days later, and artists will receive their assignments a few days after that.

Fics and art are to be posted beginning on Wednesday, October 16. This gives writers four months total to work on their fic, and artists a little over two months to create their art.

Cosmere Mini-Bang art!! My partner was @stew4 and I got to make art for their very touching college/human AU Rlainarin fic! I had a lot of fun working on this one! Any time I get to humanize Rlain is a delight. Image ID: An illustration of Rlain and Renarin in a kitchen. The characters are cell shaded, and the background is painterly. The entire image is in sepia tone. In the foreground, Renarin sits slumped at a bar over his laptop, leaning his face in his hand. He wears an expression of despondence as he stares at the screen, which depicts a vague representation of Gmail. He is dressed in a t-shirt, the back of which reads "Kholinar Highschool Mathletes 1171", and a pair of sweatpants. He is a thin young man with a middling skin tone and soft, rounded features, with messy, curly dark hair streaked with blonde. He wears a single silver stud earring. Across the bar on the other side of the counter stands Rlain, represented here as a young black man with vitiligo in almost a butterfly pattern around his eyes. He has chest-length dreadlocks that are pulled partially up into a bun on the back of his head. An oblong window on the wall behind Renarin puts a long swath of white space between the two, separating them. While Renarin's head is mostly framed by the window, Rlain stands among the stove's hood and cabinets, looking more set into the scene that Renarin who is removed from it by the framing. (End ID)

My Cosmere mini bang piece for @hazekiller16 's fic "Next Time, My Songling"! It's a very well-written fic and I had a great time illustrating a scene from it, I highly recommend checking it out! Here's baby Eshonai making flower crowns with her dad 😊

moash and adolin for the @cosmere-mini-bang ! I was paired with bridge4wannabe for their lovely tennis au fic three all in the fifth where kaladin, moash and adolin are all professional tennis players. obviously playing tennis isn't all they do lol
