"i love women i tolerate men bc i'm attracted to them" "i'm attracted to men, unfortunately (/neg)", "ew why be attracted to men when you can just date women instead" i am maiming everyone who supports this rhetoric and everyone who caused it to become so widespread by invalidating women's attraction to people who aren't men.

Well it's come up multiple times today so I'll make a post about it.
I think the popularization of the word "twink" has ultimately been really bad for people in general.
I know it's hard to track the positive and negative effects of language but I don't think it's hard to see how creating a word for a group of people wherein the most consistent qualifying trait is "being skinny" is healthy for people's self image. Obviously people have lots of ideas about what it means to be a twink- gay, lacking body hair, feminine, beautiful, young, white- but the most consistent descriptor I've seen is "skinny." Hell, it's even a body type on Grindr; the size below "average."
So it kind of functions as a code word in the gay community: anyone can say that they're only interested in twinks and they don't have to look shallow by saying they only like skinny guys. It's such an accepted attitude that no one really bats an eye when they hear it.
I'm not even going to get into how it's become part of the larger issue of people turning "top" and "bottom" into gender roles 2.0, but that is closely related, because people with any internalized homophobia can look at a skinny, feminine man and turn off their fag alarms by viewing him as a woman or not a "real" man, and it makes twinks more acceptable to society at large.
No, ignoring all of that, one of the biggest issues is that gay men are taught by society that they are only attractive while they are skinny. Just having the label "twink" reminds a boy that people are looking at his body and judging it. There were countless times when I was growing up that people would tell me, "You're such a twink," or argue about whether or not I qualified as a twink because I had body hair. People around you, unpromted, judge your body and give you a label based on it, and that label has a large influence on whether or not you're seen as objectively attractive. I know many other gay people who say they wish they were a twink so they could be more attractive to guys.
So think, you have all these kids growing up being told whether or not they qualify as a twink, and then we have the gay community as a whole where it's completely acceptable to say you're only attracted to twinks. I think its because of all of this pressure to be a twink (in other words, to have a below average weight) that many of the gay people that I interact with struggle with a negative body image or eating disorders.
I mean, people talk about "twink death" like it's an actual event that makes a gay man much less attractive, and no one thinks that, maybe, it's harmful to tell a guy that the very day he stops being young and thin and pretty, he will stop being attractive and celebrated?
I'm not qualified to speak on fatphobia in physical queer spaces because I don't have the ability to frequent them where I live, but I can't imagine that these aren't issues at social gatherings as well. I also can't speak on my own experiences with weight discrimination because so far in my life I have had a naturally thin body, but I have experienced a lot of outside pressure to be thin that have caused me to pick up unhealthy eating habits to reduce my weight in fear that I could become fat later on. Thankfully that is something that I've mostly been able to work past. I'm not an expert, but idk, I just wanted to rant on my silly tumblr blog.
Obviously it's impossible for a word to be inherently bad. I'm not trying to imply that saying "twink" is a magic word with evil powers. Obviously the real issues at play here are fatphobia and harmful beauty standards and body shaming. But in my opinion, the popular use of the word twink has made it much easier and acceptable to express fatphobia, etc, in the gay community by turning "skinny person" into a "type of guy that you should try to be so you can be attractive."

If accidentally getting affiliated with the mafia is unlucky, then you would be the god of bad luck. And unfortunately for you, after being assigned to spy on the mafia for over a year, they had managed to find documents detailing their exploits, which gave them enough evidence to drag you to the torture interrogation room.
Like any normal person, you tried to resist but let's be honest, could you really fight against trained mafia members dragging you by both of your arms? Not to mention when they've been annoyed by your constant resistance, they knocked you out by smashing your head against the wall, hard enough to make you unconscious but not hard enough to kill you.
By the time that you have woken up, you were set on your knees on the floor, hands tied behind your back with a blindfold over your eyes. The position...confused you? Usually traitors would be set on a wooden chair, fully tied down with a gag in their mouth, not whatever position you are in.
You could slightly make out the layout of the room based on how the light is shining down on you, seemed like the mafia members didn't bother to give you a thicker blindfold. There is a single lightbulb over your head, otherwise most of the room is dark and quiet. In the mist of confusion, you decided to risk something, tapping your finger on the floor and pretending to be impatient in order to try to use the echos to imagine the room's layout.
The plan worked, but things didn't seem to be in your favour as the room turned out to be quite large. How could you even escape in these circumstances???
Right at that moment, you heard footsteps echoing from a direction, cutting your line of thought almost immediately. The sound is somewhat scattered, you could make out that two people are heading towards you. You feel the light shining on your blindfold getting slightly darker, someone is standing right in front of you.
You heard murmurs and whispers, a cold sweat fell down your forehead while your hands fiddled together. You figured it's the best decision to stay silent and not say anything unless you're talked to, after all there isn't any reason to give away any information about yourself.
You felt a pair of hand grips your chin, the fingers digging into your cheeks and tilting it to different angles. You assumed it was to judge your appearance, which seemed to be at least attractive since you heard an amused hum from whoever was checking you out.
You felt your waits being held, turned over to your back before your head is placed on a lap of one of the two people, your knees being held up to your shoulders. The only thing you could hear is the sound of belts buckling and your voice protesting whatever the two are trying to do to you.
You froze the moment you felt the heat of something hot right over your face, as well as the feeling of your clothes being unbuttoned. Without any warning, the warm length shoves into your mouth, causing you to gag almost instantly, tears building in your eyes.
Meanwhile underneath, two fingers were knuckles deep in your hole, stretching it open and revealing your insides to the cold air. The fingers didn't stop rearranging your insides while the length moves in your mouth, ignoring all your gags and pathetic noises.
The second length eventually enters your under hole, a pair of hands grips your hips to move you more steadily. The cock in your mouth muffles your noises, shoving deeper down your throat when the length underneath pulls out to its tip, just to ram inside you again, giving you a bulge on your lower stomach.
You were biting your underlip, trying your best to not make any noises but they kept going out of your throat without any sign of stopping. You felt so violated yet it felt so good getting your insides ruined by people you don't even know the face off, unable to fight back and vulnerable like some kind of onahole.
The cock in your mouth was pulled out, a small strand of saliva connected its tip to your lips and left a quiet pop sound. The person holding your waist suddenly held you up straight, burying the length inside you deeper and grinding it against your spot. Before you could make sense of anything, the cock positions its tip against your entrance. You tried to protest and push the first person off, it was only met by a spank on your ass and the person shoving their cock into you.
The two started going by a faster pace, each taking turns to hit your deepest spot as the person behind you pulled your head back by your hair, the person in front of you shoved two fingers into your mouth to muffle your moans and play with your tongue.
After half an excruciating hour, they finally finished inside you with a grunt. At this point, your mind was already blanked, your body sweating and twitching from the intense workout, your hole gaping even when they pulled out and tears falling down from your eyes, staining the blind fold.
You heard a few small sentences before you pass out.
"What should we do with them, boss?"
"Keep them, they're good as a stress reliever."
At least now you know that you're good in bed <3

The Vinsmoke men are misogynistic and it's so narratively important even though it's mostly subtext and never outright stated. None of them ever say anything against women specifically, and they don't seem to discriminate as far as who can be warriors, but their actions reek of it nonetheless and I can't stop thinking about it.
On the surface it seems like Sanji gives thought to treating women differently and the Vinsmokes don't, but it's clear through their actions that the only "equality" they're really upholding is that no gender is exempt from abuse and exploitation.
It's like when people say "well if you want equality, women should get drafted into the military too!" When the problem is that no one should be forced to join the military. That's basically exactly what Germa is doing.
Sanji's view of women is frequently flawed and a bit myopic, but he seeks to treat them with kindness and love and respect, whereas the Vinsmokes make no attempt at philosophy about women and just treat them horribly.
The most glaring example is probably Cosette, who they berated for making food they didn't like and then proceeded to beat unconscious solely to shatter her confidence and upset Sanji. And when Sanji is understandably enraged at their horrible abuse, they assume the reason is that he was physically attracted to her and didn't want the object of his attraction damaged (saying they didn't know he Liked her, and if the busted up face wasn't a dealbreaker they could make her Sanji's personal attendant, which also reaaally sounds like code for something else).
Another aspect is that despite having no emotions, the Vinsmoke brothers still seem to experience attraction to women. But it's not love in any sense of the word, just purely physical. They find Nami attractive, even wanting to arrange to keep her around when the Strawhats are captured by Big Mom (ew), and there's that scene of them and Judge in their private room surrounded by mostly drunken unconscious (and rather scantily dressed if I remember correctly) barmaids that were sent to them. Granted, nothing Happens in that scene, but the undertones are gross and we're only shown a small portion of the night. Whatever the case, it's clear that these women were not sent in to be equal, respectable company, but an objectified distraction to pair with alcohol, and were treated as such.
And then there are the internal family dynamics, which I think are the biggest and most important part.
To start, there's Reiju. On the surface she seems like she has the same status as her brothers, a modified Germa weapon capable of performing as her father wants. But whenever Judge talks about being proud of his children, he always emphasizes the triplets. Often he doesn't even mention Reiju, and his attention to the boys' training seems to be much closer than to hers. Her raid suit is also more sexualized, as though that's expected to be part of her arsenal. And of course, there's her name meaning "zero" while the boys are all numbered. She is the eldest, but she survives by being ignored, and it's clear that her father prefers her emotionless brothers. This feels symbolic as well since being emotional is often seen as a feminine trait, portrayed as a weakness. Judge hates weakness. And so he hates emotion, hates women.
But at the root of it all, really, is Sora. Sora who's choices and body and children were stolen from her for an abusive man's ideals about war and domination. We don't really get to know how much choice she had in her marriage, but given Judge's royal status and the fact that they obviously share zero values I think it would have to be a strategic political arrangement at best, and something she got no say in at worst.
The kids are all named in a numbering system, which also reeks of Judge not letting her into the decisions. And, of course, there is the absolutely horrific experience of being forced into prenatal surgery to genetically modify her children against her will, to the point that the only way she could exercise any agency was to poison herself in an attempt to save even one of them. She was literally just a baby-producing machine to Judge and it couldn't be more blatant.
The violent, self-centered, and misogynistic Vinsmoke brothers are born directly from a woman's choice being taken away from her. Kind, selfless, and loving Sanji is born directly from her one act of defiance, and then later saved by his sister's one act of defiance as well (after which, she was programmed to be obedient).
Basically, the Vinsmoke family is built and preserved on the abuse and exploitation of women, and Sanji is the black sheep for many reasons, but I suspect a rather large one is that he's the ultimate antithesis to that.

⤷ ✧ Why does love?
Gender neutral
- order 77 | headcanons | First Years (Housewardens too ig)
Tumblr media
Ace Trappola
Out of all people— you have a crush on Riddle?! He silently judges you for this. At first he thought you were just playing around trying to get a reaction out of him.
He was in denial for a bit before noticing how every time you “came to hang out” with him and Deuce, you gravitated towards Riddle. You always hugged him when you saw him and after a while complete ditched your best friends for their housewarden!
Now Ace will never stop mentioning your crush on Riddle. You’ll casually be reading Romeo and Juliet for class and he’s like “You and Riddle?” Just to make fun of you.
He is definitely not supportive. You saw how he was at the beginning of the school year— just a little bratty tyrant. And yes he did indeed change, but even now how could you be attracted to him.
“Riddle is really sweet though. Say, will you help set me up with—“
“Hell no.”
Honestly he would understand if it was Trey or even Cater but Riddle is bottom of the barrel in his eyes.
What’s even more frustrating is that Riddle definitely likes you back. He is way more tolerant of you misdeeds than anyone else. Riddle is always asking about you to him and Deuce. Like, where you are and if you’re struggling on any subject. Such a caring boyfriend…
Tumblr media
Deuce Spade
Ehehe, what? It was unthinkable for you to have a crush on Riddle Rosehearts. He wasn’t sure if you were joking until you had to prove you were serious.
“Riddle, do you wanna go on a date?”
“D-date? I’ll see if I have time…” He bashfully said.
“AHHHHH THEY WERE SERIOUS?!”
Deuce is supportive unlike Acey-Wacey. He supportive by default but he really wants you to think hard when you say you have a crush on Riddle. The heart wants what it wants, he understands that. He promises to be at your wedding when the time comes.
Make him the flower boy!!
Tumblr media
Jack Howl
Oh wow. That’s all he really could say. You two were just walking to the library together to return some books having a small conversation until you said “Leona is so hot I want him so bad.” Like wow maybe a warning next time. He really doesn’t know what to say. He just gives you a look.
He knows Leona isn’t a bad guy and he is very much not against it but what does it have to do with him?
Apparently you like guys who act cold because you really don’t care that Leona seems not to have any interest. You followed him around and he kinda just allows you to.
“No way, he totally likes me back. He literally sent Ruggie away to spend alone time with me.”
“Wait, really?”
It’s kinda hard to imagine that you actually made some progress with him. He usually tells you if Leona is in a bad mood or where he is. And you run across the school just to say hi to him. Maybe true love does exist.
Tumblr media
Epel Felmier
Damn he knew something was up! He didn’t understand why you always wanted to go to Pomefiore, you always used the excuse that you wanted to hang out with him but you didn’t really hang out with him. You hung around Vil.
You denied having a crush on Vil but he noticed you were being love-dovey about things and smiling to yourself. You were making it too obvious but Vil was making it worse.
Always doting on you and walk you to class in the morning or some times you walk him to class even if you get marked tardy. He always has to fix your tie and fix your hair. Epel thinks you do it on purpose so Vil will care for you.
At some point you stopped lying to him when he started asking too many questions about your relations with Vil.
“Okay I’ll be honest. I don’t like Vil.”
“Be fer real—“
“I love Vil!♡︎”
He’s never falling for your lies of “Can I hang out at your dorm?” ever again. He will physically kick you out of Pomefiore the next time he sees you.
He really doesn’t blame you that much. Vil is well known, rich, and pretty so it makes sense but he won’t forgive you.
Tumblr media
Ortho Shroud
The only one that genuinely supports. He’s actually really glad it’s you since you’re his friend so he knows you’re not a bad person. There’s plenty of people who just want the money from the Shroud name but he knows that doesn’t matter to you.
He’s also just afraid that Idia would end up alone. As said before, a majority of people would try to get with him for the money. Trust me he will be your wingman throughout all of this. He’s always talking about how great his big brother is to you.
“Idia is just amazing! He coded a game all by himself.”
“That’s so cool!”
“Also Idia mentioned you today.”
“Oh my goodness, what did he say?”
He’s always setting you two up to see each other and make it seem like a coincidence that you too have been bumping into each other so much.
What’s perfect is that Idia likes you back too! Ortho straight up asked him, do you like MC one time and Idia short circuited.
“L-L-L-L-Like?! Nonononononono Ortho what are you thinking?! Some weirdo like me could never even think about a relationship with someone so cute and kind!”
“Ooo you’re blushing! Your hair is turning pink.”
Blushing, hiding his face, laughing, everything else. Idia tries not to talk about you but he’s always asking Ortho what you were doing today and such.
He has the wedding all planned out. He’s determined to set you two up. He wants one of you to confess first. Even though he knows for sure that it’s a mutual feeling, he wants you two to figure that out on your own.
Tumblr media
Sebek Zigvolt
When you started spouting nonsense about a crush and how lovely he was, he just brushed it off. He wasn’t interested in your romantic life one bit.
He never would’ve guessed it was his young master that you were trying to romance. And unfortunately it was working.
He didn’t understand why Malleus came back smiling to himself or muttering something under his breath. He also started playing around a little more. All very positive changes.
At the same time you were blushy and talked about being exciting for night to come so you can meet him. Whoever that him is, hope he’s ready to deal with your silliness.
When you gave Malleus an invitation to VDC, Malleus was positively glowing. He was blushing and rolling around on his bed holding the invite like a lovesick school girl. Malleus was definitely in love.
Ace, Epel, and Deuce mention it later.
“I thought it was just some random dude. I can’t believe you were flirting with Malleus Draconia…”
He wanted to laugh, what an odd joke. “Are you talking about some sort of a dream?”
The three stare at each other than at you.
“That dude MC was droolin’ over was Malleus Draconia.”
Sebek immediately is engulfed with shock. He’s in denial for a bit until he looks at you and shakes you back and forth.
“You… monster! You charmed the Young Master!! You are a lowly human, you are in no way worthy of a Royal fae like Malleus! Do you hear me?!”
He’s super mad and his week is officially ruined. It tells Lilia and Silver about it and Lilia just giggles while Silver congratulates him on finding love.
Lilia thinks is cute how you fell first but Malleus fell way harder.
Now they know where Malleus runs off to at night. He feels stupid since it was kinda obvious if he just looked into it more. He just hopes that you will treat his young master right and he’s happy (begrudgingly).

Not gonna lie, I feel like Risotto would love a Chubby Darling
Tumblr media
Yes yes yes. It's the truth and I'm going feral. He would love every roll and curve!! Now the worm living in my brain demands I write something, so I present a short.
Cute
(Risotto X chubby gender neutral reader)
Tumblr media
Everytime he came in you couldn't help but stare. Tall, bleached white hair, black and red eyes and a grungy sense of fashion. He wasn't the demographic that typically came to this coffee shop, but he'd become a daily customer and always tipped if he had spare change so the staff didn't care much.
He'd always order a long black and read the newspaper for a while before leaving. Occasionally you'd have an entitled customer point him out and demand he leave the establishment. You'd always just give them the same monotone response.
"He's a paying customer and he's not causing any issues"
There was one particularly pushy client once who'd redirected her complaints to you.
"Then I'll take my business elsewhere since they don't even seem to have any standards for staff either, telling by you" she hissed only to be met by him behind her. She held her handbag tightly to her chest as she quivered in front of him.
"If you have a problem with me then you bring it up with me, don't go dragging others into a job that's not theirs" he told the woman simply. She sprinted away almost immediately.
Then there was that one time he asked for your number. Of course you were shocked. Out of anyone why was it you he was asking you. He'd probably caught your eyes wandering when he didn't have a shirt on.
Yeah he was as attractive as he was intimidating but you knew he'd catch people's attention and then they'd inevitably look at you and wonder why the hell someone like him was dating someone like you.
You'd tried dating before but You'd inevitably get the 'oh you look abit bigger then the photo' or them giving you unsolicited weight loss advice. It honestly made you feel worthless, constantly being judged by your size. You felt like you worth worthy of love.
Besides you knew nothing about this guy except his name was Risotto. You doubt he wanted to date you.
Ever since you'd tried to avoid taking orders whenever he was around.
And now here you are... hands chained up to a pipe somehow in some dinghy ally in the middle of the night while he stared you down.
"Please let me go... If you want my money I'll give you my pin code" you muttered a plea.
"I have no need for your money" he told you.
Your hands tried to reach down to pull down your top that was currently riding up your waist but he swiftly stopped you. He free hand giving your hip a squeeze, his fingers sinking into your supple flesh.
You gasped as you pulled yourself away from him.
"You creeps have no standards" you hissed under your breath.
"You really think that little of yourself? I think you're quite cute actually" he told you. Your eyes widened in shock, why him of all people was attracted to you, you wouldn't understand.
He continued to kneed your body. The pout on your lips as he did so was adorable.
"No one has told you that, have they?" He asked you as his hands continued to rub and squeeze your hips. You remained silent.
"You didn't think you were good enough me... that's why you said no and cut me off?" He continued before placing a kiss on your forehead. You slumped down the wall, sobbing. Was it fear or that he was it him reading you like a book, you couldn't tell anymore.
His heart was practically racing as he saw the way your body pressed and molded together. The ripples in your thighs as they pressed tightly together, the way your waist rolled over the pants you were wearing and how you stomach bulged out more. God you were perfect.
"Just leave me alone" you muttered.
"But I love you" he retorted.
"You know nothing about me" you said
"I know a lot about you (Y/n) (M/n) (L/n), as a matter of fact I think I know all there is to know about you" he said. How did he find out what your middle and last name were?
You wanted to scream for help but you knew better then to try after how he managed to chain you up in thin air. You could only assume chains were the least that he could do.
"Risotto please.... please let me go" you begged again. He lifted your face to look up at him, you cheeks. Even with how gentle he held you, your face squished like putty around his fingers.
"No one's going to hurt you ever again" he told you.

Reader x Shredder Headcanons
Just some general headcanons, let me know if there’s any you want me to add!
Some mature themes
• He doesn’t care too much about body image. Of course there’s a certain point where he’ll become worried for your safety, but other than that, he doesn’t really judge. He cares a lot about personality, loyalty, and true love. He dates to marry, and he marries for a life time. And if you’re the right person for him, no matter your body type, he will love you endlessly.
• There may be times where he puts work over you, but that’s just part of being with a super villain, y’know? He will always appreciate your support and efforts.
• You can still absolutely have your own job if you want to. Small business? Scientist? Doctor? Whatever you want! He may even ask for your expertise in a few projects.
• (Just don’t expect him to allow you to do sex work or stripping 😭 his partner is his partner only, not for anyone else to see unless it’s anonymous online work 😭😭)
• Whilst you may not see eye to eye politically or morally, he is still willing to work it out with you. So if your occupation does happen to work against him or his ideals, he won’t stop you, he just might be a sly shit stirrer about it lol
• If you don’t want to work, that’s totally fine by him too!
• I don’t think he supports social media, besides the actual news part of it. But if you wanted to post on social media about yourself or your personal life, he probably wouldn’t allow it. He needs to keep himself secret as much as possible so his enemies can’t ambush him and such. Being an influencer is probably one of the few jobs he won’t allowed you to partake in. If you want to use social media like TikTok or tumblr or whatever, just stay anonymous!
• If you’re neurodivergent, he may not understand it all totally but he’s willing to learn and grow. He doesn’t really bully people the way most people do nowadays (probably partially because he’s not online and doesn’t see everything you see). No matter what disorders or disabilities you have, he will help you take care of it! Medications, therapy, etc
• If you are a wheelchair or crutch user, he will immediately have more ramps and elevators installed in the lair to make every room accessible for you.
• If you tics, he will never laugh unless you allow him to. He doesn’t even pay attention to them. They are apart of you. If there is a certain trigger that is causing you to tic a lot in that moment, he will do his best to get rid of it for you.
• He doesn’t totally understand the entirety of the LGBTQ+ community. So if you are attracted to more genders outside of male, he may take some time to sort of process what that means. He refuses polyamory, but he will understand that being attracted to more than one gender doesn’t automatically make you a cheater.
• He understands what depression and anxiety are, but he’s never really been around people that have them. Or at least, all the people he knows that have it don’t like to show it. If you have depressive or anxiety disorders, he sort of goes into a panic mode and is constantly worrying about you. Are they okay? What are they not telling me? Am I doing everything right? How can I help? Just tell him what you do and don’t need, and he will lovingly oblige 😊
• He loves watching you wake up in the morning. Not in a creepy Edward Cullen way, in a sort of admirable way. He’ll lay next to you in bed and smile at your soft facial expression. He loves watching you wake yourself up, like yawning, tying up your hair, stretching, etc.
• Ever since you came into their lives, Karai was able to sort of bond with Shredder a bit more. She had a much better bond with you though <3

What does is matter if someone is “faking” trans or not? There’s literally no way to tell because all of this is based on self-identification. Their identities are protected under the law regardless of whether they’re “real” or “faking it”. Almost like it’s impossible to develop coherent policy based on private special feelings and women aren’t the evil ones for acknowledging that predators will take advantage of any and all opportunities that grant them greater access to victims. Almost like women aren’t actually hateful or bigoted for advocating for strictly female spaces and are actually acting out of self preservation. Whatever I don’t expect you to agree since I’m sure your followers would eat you alive if you did but can we stop promoting the idea that feminists are hateful for wanting to exclude male people regardless of gender identity? Men are proudly talking about raping women on social media. THAT is hateful.
Well there's an easy way to know if someone male bodied is genuinely serious about being trans gender and that's literally just using your eyes and ears and seeing if they put real effort and thousands of dollars and dedicated years of hard work to completely physically change everything about themselves and reject maleness and support other female body women and judge them individually based upon their commitment to a sex and gender change. these arent rapists and they arent even attracted to women anyway and they will no longer be able to socially side with men even if they tried. the ones who dont do anything to change and dont care are obviously faking. I don't know why you're needlessly complicating this

Hey, sorry if this is a bit of a personal question - and feel free to ignore it if it is - but how did you know you wanted to start hrt? I am someone who IDs as transmasc and knows in an ideal world, I would've loved to have been born a guy. But the idea of going on hormones is terrifying because I can't figure out if I really want it... I worry about regretting it, or it making me 'unappealing' physically, or my friends judging me for it. Did you ever struggle with similar worries?
I think every person thinking about and starting HRT goes through this. A rite of passage, if you will, and also not a bad thing to do. HRT is a big step, some of the changes (especially on T) are irreversible. It's good to think through if it's a choice that's right for you or not.
That said, it's also Just A Thing You Can Do. I first started really questioning my gender at the end of 2020 (thank you, Elliot Page, for coming out and making me go "oh shit, you can do that?"). I got a therapist to talk about gender... Mid 2022? And started hormones spring 2023, top surgery a year later.
Before getting the therapist, I spent over a year Just Thinking About It. And a lot of the thoughts were around the changes on T and if I'd like them or not or if I'd regret them. If I'd be ugly, after being conventionally attractive as a woman.
It hits a point, though, where eventually you have to pull the plug one way or another. I spent a lot of time thinking about how my body would change on T. A Lot. With longing. I caught myself putting things off Until I Knew For Sure and because I didn't want to do it while being perceived as a woman. I was sitting, treading water for a hypothetical Later that I could start moving towards at any time. I was scared for the Teenage Round 2 phase, and didn't want to spend months being "ugly and awkward", but then the months passed anyway and I was still in the same spot.
HRT isn't an all-or-nothing thing, you can ease into it on a low dose. My doctor started me on a low dose and we ramped up over months. Some T changes can start pretty quickly (voice dropping, bottom growth - this isn't true for everyone, but was true for me). If these changes excite you, make you feel good - great! Keep going! If they scare you, feel wrong - stop. Assess. Figure out what about it isn't right (a gender therapist for all of this process is a Huge Help). In early days if you stop T, the changes can revert, for the most part. But you can always stop at any time.
The bigger thing I actively worked to wrap my head around before starting HRT is - Who Cares If You're Wrong? What's right for you now might not be right for you later. The idea of detransitioning was scary to me, society has such a weird spotlight on it, the Right uses people who have detransitioned as props against transition. But it shouldn't matter. At the end of the day, if I do change my mind, I'll know myself better, and I don't think it's wrong to chase and find comfort in your own body.
A year+ on T, I've mostly made it through the ugly duck phase, I think. I was lucky, I didn't get bad acne or get too oily or anything (after having horrible acne in my first puberty). Most of what I dealt with was the chronic baby face, where I was getting read as male but a teenager - I'm almost 30 and a woman wanted to card me over a free T-shirt at a baseball game because it had beer logos on it. After some middle months of changes and going "oh my god what am I doing" and not feeling confident in how this was all going to turn out, I think of myself as relatively attractive and I think I'm just going to get more vain as my beard comes in. Some of that is physical, sure, but I think a significant amount of that is me feeling more confident in myself and liking the body I'm in more. I was never a selfie or picture person, now I am. I joke I'm like a budgie, always looking at myself if there's a reflective surface nearby. I'm more excited to exercise, I'm interested in lifting weights for the first time, I'm curious what my body on T can do and become. Keep your eyes on the pieces that are going well, the changes exciting you, and let the rest catch up.
My social circle helped a lot. I'm very lucky and blessed to have great friends and family, all of whom are supportive. If you don't have friends who are supportive of you, that are judging you for exploring yourself rather than lifting you up for it, it's a sign to expand the social circle and find ones that are. Family is harder, but that's a thing you have to navigate for yourself and find your own boundaries for.
So, there's no ~one moment~ where you're 100% certain that medical transition is right for you. It's a huge unknown and you're changing the body you've had your entire life. At some point, though, you just have to jump and see how it lands. Part of being alive is making mistakes and doing things you might regret.
That said, the regret rate for trans people is something like 3%. The regret rate for knee surgery is something like 20%. Trust yourself.
#my two favorite posts I've seen online that helped with my transition#are the one that said ''the time will pass anyway'' in response to learning a new skill and being bad at it in the beginning#and a response to the question ''how did you know you were trans?'' of ''i thought about it''#because i didn think about it! a lot! a lot a lot!#and the time does pass anyway#the cliche advice is ''cis people dont think about this stuff'' and its true#or if they do they conclude they're good where they're at and how they identify rather than twisting themselves in knots over being sure#only you can decide if you're ready to take the plunge and try hrt#i do recommend getting a therapist to talk it through with#especially the social side of transition because that is scary#even if you have people you know will accept and support you it still puts you in a very vulnerable postion and it takes courage#the therapist also helped me talk through a lot of my fears about if i was ugly on the other side of transition#and the answer to all the social fears is always ''it won't matter to the right people''#i already had the right people around me but if you don't you can find your right people#a thing i reminded myself a lot too is to give people a chance#to keep ourselves safe we assume the worst so we can brace ourselves for it - that we will not be accepted and will have to defend ourselve#but i kep reminding myself it was not fair to assume the worst of people - especially certain family members#so its good to prepare yourself for the worst - but you also have to give people a chance to surprise you#i was So Scared of telling my aunt and and grandma. they were the last people i told because i was so afraid#but i did and they were nothing but supportive#they don't get it. we aren't going to talk about it. but we dont need to - they're doing their best and i am loved#good luck on however you choose to do things and find your happiness#hrt#gender#ask response#boy stuff

After @sillyshrimpfella suggested Disco Elysium tarot designs I haven’t been able to stop pondering it.
(Am I desperate to distract myself from terrible things in the world about which I can do nothing except “raise awareness” and donate money I don’t really have? …maybe)
It’s probably something that’s been done before, but here are my thoughts on the major arcana so far:
The Fool - Harry Du Bois. I was initially thinking the Magician for Harry, because of his effortless genius and creative mindset, but then I remembered the Fool, and… yeah. Naïveté, a fresh approach to the world, being ridiculous for better or worse - it’s all him, baby!
The Magician - Mega Rich Light Bending Guy. This one I am less certain of - I haven’t encountered him myself and I refuse to watch videos of it until I can make the check myself. I put him here because he does seem rather magical, but is he creative, talented, and an effortless genius? Unpredictable and unreliable? I really don’t know. Another person I was thinking of was Neha, she’s creative and industrious, but didn’t quite feel singular enough for the card, so I place her more as the Queen of Coins/Pentacles at the moment.
The High Priestess - Plaisance. She is a figure who (kind of) worships a higher power, and though she’s not really an oracle in the way that the card often represents, she’s a symbol of belief in the supra-natural in the forms of curses, entities, et cetera. Albeit in quite cheesy, culturally dicey ways.
The Empress - Joyce Messier. She presents feminine traditions and mannerisms, but also has a lot of institutional and traditional power as a representative of the capitalist world order.
The Emperor - Everart Claire. He’s a masculine-ish figure who uses his institutional power in the union to exert his influence on the world. Not physically imposing, but I don’t think that’s a requirement - he has a racist, a street gang, and an uncomfortable chair at his disposal where others would have fists to fight with.
The Hierophant - Dolores Dei. Yes, she’s the hierophant and not the priestess - Dolores is a figure of worship, not a worshipper, she represents organised faith rather than personal faith. You don’t have to stick 100% within the traditional genders for these cards.
The Lovers - Next World Mural. Self explanatory - I think that image would look good on a card too!
The Chariot - the Coupris Kineema. I like this because not only does it make sense sense to put a vehicle from the game on the chariot card, the sound of the Kineema is the journey from intro to gameplay, and this card is all about journeys!
Strength - Measurehead. Because… He’s strong. There’s not much more to this one; I’m happy to accept other ideas, especially since the card is usually a woman. Also, who or what would be the lion? Just… a picture of Jean-Luc Race Warrior wrestling a lion? …….actually what if this card depicted Samaran bear wrestling, that’s a fun alternative
The Hermit - Tiago the Crab Man. He is isolated by choice and strongly associated with philosophy. I was thinking the Deserter for this one originally, buttttt then I had a different idea for him.
Wheel of Fortune - the pleasure wheel. Visually fun. Also symbolically appropriate - the never-built attraction represents the investment gamble that didn’t pay off.
Justice - The Deserter. The card usually has a judge on it, dispensing retribution. The Deserter sees himself this way; he’s also a singular male figure with a “gavel” in the form of his rifle. Visually appropriate.
The Hanged Man - Lely Kortaneer. Because he is a hanged man. I wonder if he can be tied to the deeper meaning of the card through the “conversations” Harry has with him in his head, or simply through the fact that being dead he naturally has no agency?
Death - Working Class Corpse. This one is just sad. In some ways this death is more “death-y” than any other in the game, underlining how things, and people, can end abruptly and without warning. And his discovery is the end of an investigation, too.
Temperance - Washerwoman. Mainly a visual connection - she’s a woman with a container of water. The card could be her pouring washing water from one cup to another, and I think it would be a nice image.
The Devil - Cuno De Ruyter. He has given into vices already despite his young age, and he influences you to do the same. This is honestly one of the few places I consider a Fury could be a good choice for a card - Electrochemistry is basically the Devil personified.
The Tower - FELD R&D. A crumbling building where everything can quite easily go to shit - the tower is about things falling apart and potentially being rebuilt. The FALN employees fell apart - aka were executed - and Ruby is building something new in the ruins.
The Star - Klaasje Amandou. Kind of ironic to have her, a manipulator who’s always in control, on a card that represents leaving things to fate- but the visual of her hiding documents in the buoy really fits the traditional design of the card and could be adapted well, and while she’s not very up in the air herself, the skills all get up in the air while talking to her because of how you’re compromised by her beauty and charm. It’s not so much about where she finds herself, but where you find yourself in relation to her - unable to trust your own knowledge and defaulting to chance more often than you’d want.
The Moon - Insulindian Phasmid. It’s a mystery! Maybe it could be the crustacean in the design? Or it could be haloed by the moon the way Kim is haloed by the sun. I love the specification for the moon design in tarot so it does have to have two dogs and a crustacean for me to be happy.
The Sun - Kim Kitsuragi. Haloed by the sun. A new dawn. A new lease on life. This is what he represents to Harry.
Judgement - the Tribunal/Krenel. A tribunal is a court event, a judgement of sorts, and the event is a moment of dire consequence in the game. The mercenaries lining up like the angels on judgement day would also make a cool visual.
The World - Elysium. Self explanatory, I think? The image would be the world broken apart, with the isolas emerging from the pale.
For the minor arcana I’ve not got a lot of opinions - Lillienne the Netpicker as Queen of Swords for no deeper reason than the fact that she has a sword, Annette as Page of Coins/Pentacles because she’s a bright and precocious child… The cups would have a lung design on them, maybe? I really hope someone else has Thoughts about this because I would like to visualise the entire thing in my mind until I inevitably try to draw it and ruin my enthusiasm when I remember that my art skills do not match my ambition in this area 😂

In Civilization, women are objectified and treated as property—that is, owned to some degree—more than men. That doesn't change with "sex-positive feminism." The sex-positive idea is that women can gain some degree of control by objectifying themselves. Women remain objects, but if we play it right, the reasoning goes, we can partake in more of the profits of our exploitation.
Women are also human beings, with minds, ideas, desires, feelings, points of view, and consciousness. These are what make us alive, and that life is diminished by objectification.
I am less fully human when seen as an object by others, but I am even more troubled by my own participation in objectifying myself. I actively reduced my own humanity. The loss of my libido was only one measurable result. I was not only a victim of my commodification, but also a perpetrator.
Was I supposed to save myself for Love? I'd already been in love, several times, and my lovers imploded and left me. Men found me "too intense." No one wanted my love, not even me. The idea of men loving me for who I actually was, was long gone. No one wanted my soul, but some wanted my body, which was thin at last, and with makeup, a wig, and high heels was literally a hot commodity.
I was well aware I was supposed to be cautious, and took precautions; I only responded to solicitations specifying "no nudity" and "no sex" (both of which turned out to be laughable, and are tactics still used to this day to recruit young, vulnerable women). I was also aware that I was supposed to feel ashamed. I spent a lot of time considering shame, and rejecting it: I wasn't harming anyone (ha!), my choices were informed, my eyes were open. Sex was nothing to be ashamed of. Objectifying my own body was nothing to be ashamed of: all the strippers, prostitutes, and porn models/directors who spoke at SESI made that clear. It was work, it was art, it was expression. No shame in objectification: we are all objects, we live in a material world. Nothing wrong with exchange for money, either; we exchange all kinds of goods and services for money, why are bodies and sex any different?
Now-me knows sex is different, and bodies are not commodities. Then-me simply wouldn't have believed it. The body is sacred? Nothing is sacred in this world. Was I supposed to just cloister myself, be abstinent until Mr. Right came along? There is no Mr. Right, there was no one who would understand and respect and love me the way I needed to be loved, and time was ticking away while my very temporal body was at its peak of beauty and my hormones were screaming "fuck! fuck! fuck!"
Radical feminism might have helped me, but at the time I didn't know it existed. Dworkin was a dirty word. Plus, my craving for sex with men made it impossible for me to see men as they are, to admit how widespread misogyny really is.
Heterosexuality: it's a hell of a drug.
A hot body is often the biggest asset many young women have. We are lucky if we have hot, conventionally attractive bodies. All my years developing my mind and talents meant nothing compared to my brief moment of hot-boddedness. Men who were never impressed by my art would fall over themselves to buy me drinks and otherwise attend to me when I went out in a wig and makeup. I actually felt sorry for these men, so helplessly conditioned they were to respond to stupid gender cues, their feeble minds taken over by mediated programming. Do I pity them still? As much as I pity anyone who surrenders personal responsibility and critical thinking in favor of unexamined social programming. Such people are pathetic—and authoritarian, dangerous enablers.
For about a year, I enabled them myself, by dressing up as the male idea of a sexy woman: drag.

I can't believe I'm sending this as an anonymous message to a stranger and I won't judge you for dismissing it (it is admittedly more of a "vent" than anything else) but I'm frankly at my wits end. I'm AFAB and have been wrestling with the idea that I might be better off transitioning to a trans man for a fairly long time now (ages 13-22). The "wrestling" comes from the fact that I have no sex dysphoria, but nevertheless have a profound feeling of wanting to be a man, and an envy of the bodies of cis men. For greater context I'm also attracted to men, and have a hard time discerning between those I'm attracted to and those I envy (although I do sometimes envy people I'm definitely NOT attracted to). I have gone through every possible "gender identity" phase in trying to reconcile this apparent paradox – calling myself a trans boy when I was younger, to nonbinary, to trying to accept being a GNC woman who crossdresses and doesn't mind being mistaken for a he. It's not enough to stop this frankly humiliating envy of men. I've read an awful lot of literature on the subject of transsexualism, spoken to tons of transitioned transsexuals and listened to many different political viewpoints. No amount of this or soul-searching has come up with an answer. I don't want to transition without sex dysphoria and regret it. And while I deliberate it is wrecking my self esteem and preventing me from functioning properly day to day. Have you come across this or something approaching it before?
I think this is the point where you look into talking about this with a professional specialized and experienced in this subject.
Based on purely this text, on one hand I wonder if under this envy does lie sex dysphoria that's been dismissed or pushed away, on the other hand it sounds like you've done enough self-searching to understand that it's not, but that begs the question what it is instead then. But I've never heard of this, only in people who ended up realizing that it was sex dysphoria all that time after all, so there's nothing I can add. I think a professional could help you figure things out one-on-one better than any online conversation can, since they will be able to pick up on little things that can't be seen through a text message, and (if they're any good) they'll be able to ask you the right questions you may not have asked yourself yet, to dig deeper into what this thing is.
If not that, then there's always turning it into your kink, lmao.

Hi! I'm writing a genderbent(?) Les Mis retelling and would like some advice from queer les mis fans who might see this post. My enjolras-adjacent character is a demiromantic ace cis woman whose LI is a pan cis man (composite of mostly éponine and R). I've seen the takes on tumblr about enjonine and I'm wondering if this is queer erasure. For context, I myself am a queer woman, and the marisette pairing in my WIP is a lesbian couple. please help, i don't want to cause any harm to queer readers!
first, you can write whatever you want and i won’t stop you, this is all my opinion. if you decide to go down this route you will have people who will want to read it and that could be a great story for them. but here’s my personal take:
enjolras is INCREDIBLY queer coded. throughout the book he is repeatedly described as having no attraction to women, and even his attraction to men is debatable, which is why aroace headcanons are so common. i like that you’re keeping the demiromantic ace headcanon in your character, as someone who is aromantic and has a lot emotions about enjolras.
however, i just cannot see him(her) falling for a woman(man). there are too many lines about his lack of attraction to women and comparisons to historical gay male figures for me to think he would be attracted to a woman. so, in my opinion, having her being attracted to a cis male just doesn’t fit his character. I’m not even going to get into how i think enjolras is trans-coded but we won’t go into that, though if you wanted to make her a trans woman i would literally buy your book right away… just saying ;)
I do think the inclusion of so many sexualities is very important and i really like that, so take my potential situations with a grain of salt because if you want to keep what you have, it’s still a very queer story and has important representation that needs to be seen more.
HOWEVER! you said you’re combining R and Eponine! i think you can still do that, but just keep eponine’s gender and characteristics and mix that with grantaire’s characterics. or, to make it even more queer, maybe make eponine nonbinary/trans, either trans masc or neutral or trans fem, and explore that dynamic instead of the original queer dynamic in the book! or hell, keep them both cis but maybe make it a queerplatonic relationship thats not romantic at all because we’re severely lacking that in books and especially a QPR between a man and a woman because people seem to think men and women can’t be platonic to begin with, let alone have a QPR. there’s worlds of queer relationships out there and i think they would be fun to explore.
(also lesbian marisette sounds AMAZING absolutely no notes 10/10!)
so yeah, while i don’t like enjonine personally (i literally have it blocked in my filtered tags just because of the discourse lol) i can 100% see ways you can keep enjolras’ queer identity and still have it be enjonine. to use an old fandom term, ship and let ship. im glad you’re reaching out to queer fans, and if you wanna keep me posted on your story, i would love to hear how you’re developing it! i hope this makes sense and doesn’t box you into trying to please people, its YOUR retelling, at the end of the day its what makes YOU happy and how YOU want to tell your story. if you feel like this is trapping you in a box, just disregard everything i’m saying and do what you want and i wouldn’t judge you at all.
also, if any of my followers wants to jump in on this in the replies, go ahead!
best of luck!

Hi sweetie, this is for the BG3 matchup exchange thingy! Thank you for agreeing to do this, I can't wait to see what you write ☺️ And of course I hope you like mine as well!
I'm an autistic girl who's fine with any gender, though I might slightly prefer a man tbh. I’m a pagan witch who’s interested in a ton of different subjects like horticulture, linguistics, genetics and anthropology/archaeology. I have a very bubbly, friendly personality though I’m also highly intelligent and often called “wise beyond my years” lol. I just think in a very big, philosophical way if that makes sense, so I come up with a lot of raw quotes and good advice. Even when I'm tired, I still seem to have more energy than the average person, and I never stop talking (if I go nonverbal something is very wrong).  The most common word used to describe me is “eccentric” since I’m very brave about being myself and don’t care too much what others think of me (at least not as much as some people). I have a kinda outdated way of talking and honestly living lol, I'm very much a grandma in a 20 year old body (though my body's chronically ill so the shoe still kinda fits). On that note, I have several chronic illnesses like scoliosis, joint pain, asthma and a bunch of other stuff. 😬 I love taking care of people, like baking things for people and drawing them cute pictures. I also really love gardening and writing (I’m super good with plants). I'm super short, 4’ 10” (142 cm), with messy auburn hair that's something red, brown and blonde all at once, glasses and a retro/vintage fashion sense that's like if cryptidcore was more colorful lol. My style also switches between very butch and very femme a lot. I can be sassy and witty when I want to be, but I also get nervous easily so it only comes out occasionally (but when it does I'm told I'm very funny). I also need to have outdoors time literally every single day, regardless of weather or season, or I start to go stir crazy. I’m a very nature-oriented person lol. I get super flustered being called cute names like sweetie or sweetheart, despite the fact that I call literally everyone I know things like that 🤣
Alright, I think that’s about it lol. Thank you and Happy New Years sweetie!
ofc! I’m glad to do another matchup exchange anytime.
your Baldur’s Gate 3 matchup is… GALE DEKARIOS !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• I have the suspicion you saw this coming, judging by how much Gale stuff you have on your profile. Even then, I genuinely think he’d be the best match for you!
• Starting off right away, he’s a wizard, you’re a witch. While I’m entirely the same thing, they have enough similarities to go hand and hand, which is the thing you guys bond over the most.
• He’s also interested in the various hobbies you dabble in too. He’s done what he can on his free time, but I’m sure there’s something he hasn’t done yet that you can introduce and info dump him about. He’s a great listener actually.
• Gale is a very smart man. Hell, he uses big words when he talks, and often drags things out a little longer in a witty manner, I think just to impress people? It could just be a normal thing for him though. Nonetheless, he’s happy you can keep up with his banter.
• Depending on the occasion, Gale can have lots of energy. Especially if he was recently fed an object containing weave lol. Though, if you’re feeling a boost of energy he wouldn’t mind something like going on a stroll with you.
• Gale is pretty eccentric, as seeing how often he talks with his hands and uses big words. So don’t be afraid to be yourself! Gale loves seeing you and your big personality.
• He’s glad to see someone independent as well. From what I’ve seen he’s very attracted to confidence and heroism. See you with both makes his heart really flutter.
• Gale is your biggest cheerleader by far, and if you ever need something done because you feel out of it or sick, Gale will get it for you.
• He enjoys your creativity side too. He’s worked on poetry in his free time, and I believe that he finds anyone with a creative mind admirable.
• He likes colors too! So pretty..he absolutely adore everything you wear on a daily basis, and you’ll often find him complementing you throughly, finding his favorite minute detail to prove how much he cares.
• He’s not very judgemental about your height. He’s extremely taller then you, being around 6’2 according to Reddit. I don’t ever see him bringing up your height unless you do it first, or it’s crucial to the conversation at hand.
• Your sassy side is extremely cute to him too. He even sasses back sometimes if the mood strikes him right. Although he can’t seem to find as many playful, teasing quips as you can, so he saves them up for when he can think of one.
• Gale is a big lover of nature, and is most definitely an outdoorsy guy. Why stay inside when there’s so much to explore?
• He calls you pet names when the two of you have sweet moments. It starts up after you’ve been with each other for awhile, and it’s very awkward and maybe even cringey, but it’s sweet to the two of you.
• It almost feels unreal, the connection you have with each other He never thought he could run into someone as perfect as you, but here you are. For that, he loves you very much.

F1NNST3R is a Twitch streamer who dared his subs to give him enough to money to do "girl month".
He boxed up his "boy" clothes, bought new "girl" clothes, and even went so far as to learn how to do his makeup and grow his hair out so he could look more feminine.
A lot of people misunderstand him as being trans, but he's just a guy having fun with gender. He's just a guy dressing up.
I'm curious what kind of homophobia you see in trans circles, because I don't really see any. And...sex isn't really a thing that exists, in the first place. Like, sure, there's sexual characteristics but it's been shown through various studies and anecdotes that a person will differ from other members of their "sex". For example, F1NNST3R passes really well as a woman (minus his voice), and it pisses off transphobes because they can't tell at a glance what he really is. He has a very feminine body, for what he is.
The same goes in reverse, too. Cis women (those assigned Female at birth and who continue to identify as female into adulthood) are more than capable of being big, burly, and "manly" with the right genetics. Not to mention intersex people...exist? In more ways than just genital oddities, and in ways that aren't readily apparent.
Sex means...nothing, really. There's no noticeable difference in physical or mental capacity based solely on sex, it's moreso related to social conditioning and upbringing (imagine the toy aisles at a supermarket - where do you find the dollhouses, where do you find the science kits?).
There's no reason to assume a "man" in women's sports would fare any better compared to "his" competitors - unless he has outside factors like better training equipment, better personal trainers, and better conditioning. All else being equal, "his" sex makes no true difference.
To say otherwise is to ignore true, proven science. I don't know why you insist on being like this. It's not sexist to call you a cis woman. It isn't tacking anything onto you, and it isn't defining anything about you except that you are the opposite to a trans woman - that is, you are the opposite of a woman who had to transition to be taken seriously as a woman. It's fine if you personally don't like the term, but you can say "Please don't call me that" without making false equivalence.
The patriarchy hurts everyone. Until men can be open about their feelings and stop feeling judged for having emotions besides lust and anger, until they can wear makeup and dresses and long hair without being ridiculed or made fun of, until they can freely choose how to express themselves, they will never not be as much a victim of the patriarchy as you are.
Equal, but different.
I’m curious why you think a man wearing makeup, having long hair, and wearing societally deemed “feminine” clothes is “playing with gender”, and not just a man wearing makeup, having long hair, and wearing certain clothes. As a gender abolitionist I seek to remove gendered standards from everything, not enforce them. I want to see a world where nobody blinks twice at a man doing these things, and where nobody sees it as “feminine” or related to gender in any way.
I’m also curious about how you see no homophobia in trans circles. It’s so abundant it’s ridiculous. For starters, the idea that heterosexuals can become gay. That’s appropriating homosexuality and forcing homosexuals to open our spaces and community to heterosexuals. A big one is “genital preference” discourse, which is progressive conversion therapy that shames homosexuality for being same sex attracted. I, and many other lesbians, have been told we’re transphobic for lacking attraction to the male sex and only being attracted to the female sex. How is that any different than a religious leader telling us we’re sinners for the same? There’s also the “cotton/boxer ceiling” thing, where heterosexual trans people whine about how gay men and lesbians don’t want to sleep with them, and treating our sexuality and sexual boundaries as a problem/barrier/“ceiling” that needs to be overcome. There’s also the fact that many gnc children are being told they’re trans…despite it being a known fact that gender non conformity can be a sign of homosexuality. Or, at least, that’s a stereotype that homophobic parents notice, and then transition their child as a form of conversion therapy. I’ve heard “transition acceptance” stories that are literally just parents saying they’d rather have a trans kid than a gay kid…I assume it’s because with a trans kid, they can pretend their kid is straight. I could honestly go on. Talk to any homosexual in the gender critical sphere, and you’ll find we all have a lot to say about homophobia in trans circles. For most of us, it’s why we left.
Just because somebody can pass as the opposite sex doesn’t mean that sex isn’t real. I can dress a parrot in a convincing rat costume and teach it to squeak and trick everyone into thinking it’s a rat…that doesn’t mean parrots and rats are fake. I can buy a fake bouquet of flowers and convincingly pass them off as real, that doesn’t mean flowers aren’t real.
Your definition of “cis women” is exactly why we don’t want to be called that. I do not “identify” as female. That implies I’m comfortable with the societal roles placed upon me for being female, especially because those who believe in gender associate womanhood with those roles. I am not comfortable with those roles, I did not identify into being female. I just am female. It’s the same thing for sexuality, I hate when people say “identifies as gay”. I don’t identify as gay, I am gay.
Intersex people have repeatedly asked to not be used as pawns in this argument. They have a medical condition (which is dependent on sex. Some conditions are only found in males, some only in females), they aren’t a magical third sex. Claiming they are is like saying “actually, some humans are born as conjoined twins, so we can’t actually say humans are a species with one head, and two arms and legs because some people are born with more”.
You underestimate how important sex is and how much the two differ. I agree that socialisation plays some part, in that a girl might be less likely than a boy to go become a scientist because she was told from a young age that it’s a “man’s job”. But males and females are indeed different, both have strengths and weaknesses that are sex based. I can’t list them all off the top of my head and as I’m currently sick I don’t feel like looking up sources and such, but off the top of my head an example is male and female gymnastics. There are tricks (is that the right word? I’m nowhere near being a gymnast) that men can do that women can’t, and some that women can do that men can’t. I remember seeing videos of men trying women’s gymnastics and vice versa, and despite clearly being skilled gymnasts they couldn’t even figure out how to do the tricks tailored to the other sex’s physical strengths. Because male and female bodies are different and are capable of doing different things.
Search up Lia Thomas. He was ranked very lowly in men’s swimming, somewhere in the triple digits. After joining the women’s team, he shot up to first. Why? It’s not because he magically became a better swimmer overnight. It was because he’s a man, and men are on average stronger and faster than women. If he was really on an equal playing field, he’d have ranked the same on the women’s as he did in the men’s.
That’s the thing about the term cis, though. As a woman, I do not want to be defined in relation to sexist men who think they can transition into being a woman. I do not want to be defined in a way that, to most who believe in gender, means I “identify” as a woman and the roles pushed onto women. Many women have voiced this and we continue to be ignored, because ultimately the trans community is insanely sexist and does not care about what we have to say about anything. They care more about men’s feelings and men’s opinions on womanhood.
I’m not even going to entertain that last bit about men being victims of the patriarchy just as much as women are because they can’t express their feelings or partake in traditional femininity. That’s absolutely delusional and ridiculous. I and every other women wish that was all we had to deal with, because it’s not even a fraction of the pain inflicted on women. To think it’s equal, is to show how ignorant you are on how women are treated in this world. Even if it was equal—which is most certainly is not—,it’s not my problem. Men created the problem, they can fix it if they’re so inclined.
