Visiting the aquarium really just is a continuous stream of kids' voices going DORYYY with not a single blue fish in sight, huh.

Hey, I'm the author of the transsexualism blog and spreadsheet. I had stopped updating the spreadsheet but I left it up and I deleted the blog since it barely had any followers, but I guess people who accessed the spreadsheet through there may not have had the url to it saved. Someone took the tumblr name so it's unrelated to me now Anyway, I saw your post mentioning it, and then I saw I had some emails showing interest in it in the past couple of years when I wasn't checking that email account. So now that I have the time I want to get back to it (there's a chance something will get in the way and I won't be able to do it in the end, but I really want to). I'm also more tech savvy now so it will be a lot easier to maintain. I've started working on a separate spreadsheet which I will link to from the original one once it's ready to go live. So if you or any of your followers have any suggestions for improvements from the old one feel free to let me know! Anon asks are open.
I saved a back-up of the spreadsheet, just in case. Good to hear you'll be updating it, let me know when you do.

"A German bio-tech company has developed a naturally-occurring enzyme discovered in a cemetery into a near-market ready solution for recycling plastic without any loss of quality.
In 2022, GNN reported on a paper published by Leipzig-based scientists who first identified the enzyme. At the time, the enzyme was subject to a small side-by-side test, and caused the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic to decompose by a whopping 90%.
Tumblr media
Pictured: Before and After: A container of PET after 24 hours of contact with the enzyme leaves only dye
Fast forward to the spring of 2025 and those same scientists have perfected the capabilities of that enzyme, called PHL7, and have founded ESTER Biotech to bring those capabilities to market.
Their initial plan to be finished next year is a bathtub-sized pilot project reactor. If successful, their 2030 plan will be four 350 cubic-meter reactors capable of processing 45,000 metric tons of PET plastic every year.
PHL7 and ESTER Biotech boast several advantages over chemical and thermal recycling methods. For starters, once the polymers of PET are broken by the enzyme into monomers, or single component parts, they have suffered no degradation of their material characteristics unlike some recycled plastic which is weaker or less stable.
Additionally, PHL7 is exceptionally stable from 32 to 203 degrees Fahrenheit (0-95°C), and per kilogram of plastic, a dose of only 0.02% to 0.06% of the enzyme is required—substantially less than existing alternatives. Their new version of the enzyme also recycles the plastic several hours faster.
“Our technology makes it possible to bring material flows that are currently burned back to the beginning of the cycle at the molecular level,” says Christian Sonnendecker, lead author on the paper of the enzyme’s discovery, and co-founder of ESTER Biotech at the University of Leipzig. “And with high energy efficiency and scalability.”
“We are only at the beginning. But we are convinced that when science, entrepreneurial spirit and social responsibility come together, a cemetery enzyme can become a beacon of hope for a better future.”
RECYCLING BREAKTHROUGHS:
Scientists in Japan Develop Non-Toxic Plastic That Dissolves in Seawater Within Hours
Cornell Researchers Create First-of-its-Kind Durable and Recyclable Plastic
New Process ‘Vaporizes’ Plastic Bags and Bottles to Help Make Recycled Materials
Revolutionary New ‘Living Plastic’ That Could Slash Damage to the Environment Developed by California Researchers
ESTER Biotech’s enzyme is able to separate certain multilayer composites which are normally thought of as unrecyclable. In addition to the infrastructure of the pilot project, ESTER is currently working with two medium-sized partners to build a cost-efficient supply chain with an aim to reduce the enzyme price to between 100 and 200 euros per kilogram.
Though no currently-commercialized recycling method can compete with the cost of virgin plastic, a price between 100 and 200 euros will put it in line with existing competitors.
Fortunately for anyone in the space, the EU is not afraid to use heavy-handed regulation to guarantee plastic recycling rates. By 2040, under existing EU legislation, 65% of plastic production will be mandated to come from recycled sources. ESTER believes that with its potential to offer a higher quality “recyclate,” the incentive to pursue and expand enzymatic methods will increase."

@ the readfems making the “a cis boy who is medium at sports could just transition and become a star on the women’s team and get accolades and scholarships” argument:
Okay. Then you do it. Men have all those societal advantages. All the power. The system is built for men. You talk about this all the time. So why don’t you just become one? You want to get those promotions, that respect at the car dealership, you want to walk home at night and look over your shoulder less often. All it’ll take is, you know, a few years on testosterone. Changing your name. Reminding your friends and family to use the new name and pronouns because this won’t work if everyone knows you’re just pretending.
Or does the idea of doing all of that for the hope of a leg up in one or two specific areas seem, you know, fucking ridiculous?

but fr I'll never take it seriously when someone says "i was abused by men, I'm allowed to hate them and anyone trying to show love for men is an MRA" like you know how many of us were abused by our mothers and it's still (rightfully) considered not okay to say that women are all abusers just waiting to kill their children. If you blame violence on someones gender instead of the societal mechanisms that encourage and allow violent and harmful behaviour you're perpetuating that cycle.

The last days of the petition against conversion therapy are FASCINATING to watch. I have been following it pretty closely for almost a year now, and the progress was, above all, steady. There was this jump when some algorithm in Finland picked it up, but even that was local.
And now, everyone is panicking.
Which really shows.
These past three or four days, multiple countries have reached the threshold. Even more notably, the number of signatures in total, the ones that we need to get one million of, are growing rapidly. There are only 400'000 signatures missing. Two days ago, it was closer to 600'000.
You can see the progress here:
Consider joining the fun by making everyone around you sign it!

Hey just wanted to stop by snd give a quick thanks. I was really into your blog and similar onrs back in 2018 as a miserable dysphoric 13 year old who had a mom who was accepting of gender identity but not of letting me take T. I eventually did convince her and got on it at the end of 2019 after constant nagging from me, and a huge reason why I had the motivation for that was blogs like yours that had a more medical outlook on transsexuality, and it was the greatest (1/2, character limit)
(2/2) decision I've made. You're not dhat active anymore, neither is anyone else I used to lurk on the blogs of certainly, but just wanted to let one of you know that you genuinely improved someone's life when they were super miserable. Thanks for the help
Thanks for letting me know anon, and good to hear it was able to improve your life that much. I'm glad my years on Tumblr have helped at least some people here and there. Between the overwhelming amount of frankly transphobic voices from both sides of the political/social coin and the total disregard for actually transsexual voices, it does often feel hopeless to even try to speak out, but it's worthwhile if it can lead to improvements in at least some people's lives. It's why I mean to leave all this up online even if I should some day entirely stop coming here.

For almost no increase in security for women, the trans community would be made to feel even more vulnerable and marginalised.

Duolingo Sucks, Now What?: A Guide
Now that the quality of Duolingo has fallen (even more) due to AI and people are more willing to make the jump here are just some alternative apps and what languages they have:
"I just want an identical experience to DL"
Busuu (Languages: Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean)
"I want a good audio-based app"
Language Transfer (Languages: French, Swahili, Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish, English for Spanish Speakers)
"I want a good audio-based app and money's no object"
Pimsleur (Literally so many languages)
Glossika (Also a lot of languages, but minority languages are free)
*anecdote: I borrowed my brother's Japanese Pimsleur CD as a kid and I still remember how to say the weather is nice over a decade later. You can find the CDs at libraries and "other" places I'm sure.
"I have a pretty neat library card"
Mango (Languages: So many and all endangered/Indigenous courses are free even if you don't have a library that has a partnership with Mango)
"I want SRS flashcards and have an android"
AnkiDroid: (Theoretically all languages, pre-made decks can be found easily)
"I want SRS flashcards and I have an iphone"
AnkiApp: It's almost as good as AnkiDroid and free compared to the official Anki app for iphone
"I don't mind ads and just want to learn Korean"
lingory
"I want an app made for Mandarin that's BETTER than DL and has multiple languages to learn Mandarin in"
ChineseSkill (You can use their older version of the course for free)
"I don't like any of these apps you mentioned already, give me one more"
Bunpo: (Languages: Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Korean, and Mandarin)
