CELESTE APPRECIATION post
I raerly see anyone mention her but i love her sm yes this is mostly like 98% hc shes only got like 5 lines in hole game what more do u want from me
anyways, my sweet sweet barely domesticated celeste :
-"Why did my husband come back with a child ,a dog ,a living skeleton, a man who can throw him around like he weights nothing and a knight(derogatory)" -Cahara's so wiped 4 her and honesty i would to if that was my wife, she def pegs him 2 btw i mean just look at him, my point exactly.
-gets along with Enki the most 2 everyone's surprise, there paper wight besties. & share a worrie for Cahara they will never verbalise as well a dislike for D'arc- i mean knights.
-celeste is d'arces first (and only) female friend, much to clestes own dismay.
-d'arce thought she was a gold digger at first, as you can tell they had a grate first impression of each other
-only trusts people about as far as she can throw them (rip rag , he can still man handle the group whore with ease tho so good for him)
-can not hold a convo with a child 2 save her life , the length of her mertanl intents extend to bringing the child 2 Cahara .
-she is not mother material but for some reason they're trying to keep a baby with a high infant mortality rate its funny
i think celeste probably didn't have great parents or a good role model, deadbeat drunkard parents that kicked her out and kind of left her to fend for herself & close of to the world and that's why she has such a disillusioned take on parenthood + where her own approach to children comes from but uh oh !! cahara wormed his way into her heart ! and who's to say his clear and utter devotion to this little girl cant win her over either i dont think either her or Cahara were going out of their way to get pregnant - it's like an unfortunate by-product of the nature of Celeste's career, and Cahara's love for her being what led to him being so willing to step up. i don't think either of them ever really thought about having kids, or at least didn't think they'd be good parents, but celeste getting pregnant or cahara bringing back a child is just the way life ended up going. it's the renaissance era, abortion methods are on par with childbirth in terms of deadliness anyway. she's just not going to have to keep risking her life via pregnancy if cahara goes out, gets enough coin to support them both, she's not going to be like every other peasant woman who's forced to become a broodmare because every 1 in 2 children fucking die before they turn 5. clesest being pregnant is just what ended up happening. the love in that is to do with their RELATIONSHIP, not their love for some idealistic family life. i think cahara wanting to give it a try is something celeste would think is really sweet and admirable, but she'd probly keep a lot of her more cynical thoughts to herself on the matter.
saying that i think they both have a lot of cynical thoughts about it really, but i cahara goes so quickly into "this is my wife, this is our future baby" because otherwise what's the point in taking on such a risky mission in the first place ? but if he's got a noble cause, then it might seem worth it, right ? it's that extra push of encouragement for him, even if it comes with a lot of scary things like the responsibility, being a parent, maybe settling down witch is a scary thought for someone whos always so used 2 being on the move
as for celeste ; she doesn't even know if she's going to make it through the pregnancy, or if the baby will. it's just another mouth to feed at the end of the day. she doesn't care about carrying on a legacy, or raising a child into greatness like so many others beg and plead of god to bestow upon their children. she knows she'd be a shit mom and she's hardly a loyal partner at the moment. but she loves cahara, and seeing that fear in his eyes when she told him, but also that spark of light, that little bit of joy, made it at least worth holding on for.
celeste: it's probably not going to make it anyway, i either risk death in childbirth or death in abortion methods, so. celeste: its getting me enough bank rn to keep myself healthy so we'll just see what happens i guess celeste watching cahara bring home an entire child:
okay cringe time over. i wont go into 2much detail about her relationship with the others though i think its a very slow process of her learning to tolerate get along with the creatures friends cahara brought back -as soon as celeste meets d'arce her mild suspicion and distaste for ragnvaldr will be replaced with her disgust for d'arce -think celeste would be pissed she wouldn't be able 2 pull cahara out of ragnvaldrs grip unless she stabbed him or something, witch shes both angry about it but also relieved since it probably kept cahara out of trouble in the dungeon (because lord knows her husband is a magnet for trouble) inside me there are 2 wolfs ; one is mmm hot stong wife carry cahara like a sack of pataos , the other is screaming at me that this is the 1600 and she would be starving and poor. so to compromise with myself im going 2 say : - physical speaking celsest is probly stronger then most women in her profession and could probly drag an unconscious cahara around then againg i also think cahras way ligher then someone of his build&carear should be shes stronger then enki (then againg who isnt) but cant match d'arces physical strength. saying that modern au Celeste would beat d'arce in an arm wrestle.
in-refence 2 my last post; celest is a child darkness, she has a barbie killer husband, there for. she deserves to be as much hater as she likes d'arce: you two are the healthiest couple i know who still have an avid sex life cahara: ASSUMPTIONS ! celeste: we're the only couple you know.
acholic wise i think celeste could out drink d'arce (and at least keep up with ragnvaldr for a little bit)
celeste: d'arce is a pain in the ass cahara: :confustion:  she means well babe cmon celeste: im gonna beat her with a stick cahara: ,, babe,,
cleseste is not payed enough 2 be d'arces therpist or help d'arce figure out she likes women (shes not payed at all actuly, she is simply trying 2 tolrate her husbands new freinds becuse she loves him but also only has so meny braincells she can lose in a day and conversing with d'arce seems 2 kill all of them)
celeste hears d'arce talk about jeanne once and instantly starts going "wow you loved a girl wow that girl who was like you in every way wow that girl who like. shared your morals. or something. wow tell me more about that girl" (stab stab stab metaphorically stab stab stab)
(about cahara getting arrsed and taken by the police) rag: you lack of concern,,, concerns me. are you not worried ? celeste: dogs always find their way back home.
- d'arce and cahara make the same enamoured and light-blush expression whenever celeste rages btw - celeste :handshake: enki taking the piss out of knights + a generally more cynical outlook on life & being cold bitches that secretly care about cahara a lot
(first time they all stayed the night) enki learning hes the favorite for once and he thinks its just the most hilarious thing to fucking happen local woman-lover put out by being rejected by hot scary wife, local berserker intimidated by what scary wife might do if she finds out what he did to her precious boytoy local shadow wizard ? on the floor ugly laughing because scary wife reluctantly asked if he wanted the guest bedroom.
celeste: YOURE NOT STAYING HERE PERMANENTLY. but youre allowed to stay overnight. enki: is this (gags) kindness ? oh my god. revolting. celeste: is that a yes or not you fucking worm enki: yesplease
#celeste fear and hunger#fear and hunger#celeste ily#take a shot everytime i spelt her name wrong#cahara#enki#ragnvaldr#d'arce#i love pitting 2 bad bitchs against each other when its not over a man and 1s obluous 2 the fact the other fucking hates her#didnt mention it ealer but cleste bi queen btw#i dont Rembert if i mentioned it in my post but clests dislike of d'arce stems from her being a knight#this isnt d'arce slander btw i love her i just like bullying her even more#celeste when shes a little hater and i love her for that#enki expences being someone's fav for the first time#rag when hes both terrified by but slightly curious about his little freinds wife#the girl fear and hunger

The Death Of A Website.
tl;dr click source to see an AU of my blog.
As many of you may not have heard, Cohost has gone read only. The website infamous for "Zero Discoverability" and its users "Not Being Funny." Servers will close down at the end of 2024, if not earlier, being backed up on the Internet Archive before that. Since their user counts were still low after 2 years (about half of all sign ups ever were from people evacuating twitter, which then didn't know how to use the site so most left almost immediately. Kind of hilarious) they didn't feel like anymore money bleeding OR the fact that a staff of only four people being on call 24/7 was worth it anymore.
However,
the people who DID use the site loved it. And they did some genuinely cool things on it, far cooler than anything I ever saw even in the glory days of Tumblr. You know, like Finn and Jake hi-fiving between 2 posts. Stuff like a playable maze, or a fully navigable 3d room you move around in with your mouse entirely within a post. They really did some cool stuff.
There were also a ton of really talented people, people like the composer Lena Raine(Celeste/Minecraft) who loved the site because you could just. Actually talk to people on it! Without an algorithm to boost their posts, the only people who saw it were genuinely looking for it.
Also some of them were just good posters, we did get Pikmin 18 billion and eleven from Cohost after all.
The point is, I think if anyone outside of Cohost actually knew what was being done on Cohost, it would of succeeded. There would of been enough active users for them to invest more. If I knew about all of this I would of been there way more!
But rather than just you blindly believing me, I decided to spend (almost) every hour I would of on Tumblr, on Cohost instead. Clicking that link, or the source, or the link on the source above in the tl;dr, will take you to my Cohost blog. At least while it's still read-only.
You should check it out. I reblogged a lot, but the first page or 2 (every 20 posts, I kept trying to stop but I got sentimental and reblogged more) is pretty much just people's last posts. I'd say give it 3 pages to see if you're interested or not in exploring more of what the website has to offer.
If you've ever wondered what people would post on a dying website,
If you ever wondered what some of the best posts people were making on Cohost that got shared again in its last dying moments were,
If you want some reference for what inside jokes would look like to an outsider,
If you're just bored and need something to scroll through,
if you ever wondered what I would of reblogged on that website if I remembered my password easily enough to log back in easily...
You could think of my blog as a small encapsulation of a small website. There's only 60 pages, including the ones from before the announcement from me just rarely using the site!
I reblogged all kinds of posts. Goodbyes, sarcastic hellos, mourning, long speeches about the spirit of Cohost set to sad music, nothing burgers, inside jokes I didn't understand, The New Garfield, posts I flat out didn't read past the title because they were too long and I just wanted to move on really there's a lot of posts to archive, CSS crimes, stuff I found funny, "Where to find me" and webrings and website posts for people I never knew, Love Honk, reviews for movies and games I never intend to play or watch, 88x31 buttons, music recommendations and history, entire games, signing up for RSS feeds, asks and answers related to other stuff I didn't share on accident, regular memes, Intern Secretary Eggbug, a post that's just an image hosted off-site so it'll update even after readonly, and so on.
(Nothing overtly NSFW. Tag search still works if you want that)
One that I, personally, am sad is gone. That I'm glad I got to see at least in its dying days. That I genuinely hope someone makes another attempt at creating.
#Cohost#The Death Of A Website#The Global Cohost Feed#<- there was no algorithm or 'new' section so a lot of people just tagged everything with this to do that. Kind of funny tbh#yes btw the 4 people also handled all of the site moderation. This did in fact cause: problems sometimes#if it's not read only by the time this scheduled post goes up uhhhh. Go Hog Wild I Guess.#I would go through people's blogs and random tags whenever my following tab dried up#so post type can get kind of clumpy sometimes. Feel free to skip forward or back pages if that ever gets annoying.#If you genuinely want to buy Cohost go make them an offer it is absolutely for sale btw.#The Cohost Global Feed#I definitely did not mix it up and am just being thorough

Did somebody ask for adventure forward head canons that may or may not interfere with the actual canon because I haven't played the games in a while?
No? Screw you, you're getting them anyway.
Warning ⚠️ I am cringe, but I am free so I feel like that makes up for it.
VERY LONG LIKE INCREDIBLY LONG YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DO NOT CLICK THAT SEE MORE BUTTON UNLESS YOU WANT TO READ ADVENTURE FORWARD HEAD CANNONS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Also I say head cannons but like halfway through I derail into my AU of what crown of shadows and vein reveal would be like so I still think it's really interesting but I'm very biased.
("I hate celesteal!" I say, before making a bunch of head cannons around him.) I really like celesteal as a character I hate him as a person but I really love him as a character
Do not expect this to be arranged well it will not be. This is not chronological this is not even like grouping a character altogether this is really messy, I'm just getting all my ideas out.
The two different canceled sequels are both different timelines (that I may or may not make crossover in my head) and I have different ideas for how each of them would go so I will refer to them as crown of shadows (COS) and Vain revival (VR) to specify when it is only for one of the versions.
Anshine and Stratosfear are happily married.
I don't know if this is cannon or not but Sheldon definitely made Miobot. And also accidentally made him sentient, oops, sure hope that doesn't come back causing both of you to get forcefully ascended to a higher existence.
Celesteal admire humans a lot mostly because he can't figure out where they keep coming from (he does not know how reproduction works) and he can't figure out how to make one.
VR! The shard saver is his closest attempt to a human looking mostly correct but having the little quirk of her having pink blood and also thinking it is normal for a person to not remember the first 15 years of their life (She does not know she is not human at first) The shard savior is also the only one of his creations that he considers to be his child.
It took Celesteal a couple hundred years to figure out how to make a sentient being at that point he was kind of already cuckoo bananas.
Yawgate was one of his earlier creations and often accompanied him to where he needed to go because Yawgate does the portaling.
The pure points did not learn how to speak English properly they were just imbued with that knowledge shortly after they were made. Unfortunately they are all British because of this. (Celesteal thinks that accent is the most quote on quote "cool" and therefore he speaks in it)
Celesteal refers to everyone using they/them most of the time because he does not know how genders work at all.
The first Star Savior is a 39-year-old closeted gay man named Stefan. (I accidentally stole that name from a fanfiction like 2 years ago, oops)
Mason is a 40-year-old and is also a closeted gay man. The main reason he became the mayor is because his father was the mayor and his father is now dead. The hat wears is his father's. He is also really tired of the may or may not jokes, yes he has heard it before it lost its funny factor since he was a child and heard it from people saying that to his father. Stefan doesn't think it's lost it's funny factor and still makes those jokes.
Mason and Stefan are childhood best friends and may or may not (Haha get it) have feelings for each other. Unfortunately, that issue won't be resolved for another 300 years. (Talk about a slow burn)
The second Star savior is a 28-year-old man named Nicholas (I also stole that name from the same fanfiction I read 2 years ago accidentally, oops) who has served in the military. His only remaining family members are his aunt, who he has a rough relationship with and his cousin who he has a fine relationship with, but he hasn't talked to since before he joined the military.
Anshine is really bad at naming things like "if he had a Dalmatian he would name it spot" type of bad at naming things.
Stratosfear for a brief period of time forgot his own strength because he didn't really have to do stuff like opening jars when he had to play the role of the star steeler and he's kind of been trapped for 300 years so not a lot of time to get used to how strong you are with objects and stuff.
Stratosfear is immune to poison and venom because he himself can make poisonous stuff if he really wanted to. He can also make red metal into any shape he wants, he just thinks scorpions are cool and so has a bunch of metal shapes in the shape of the scorpion tail, that is one of the very few things he got to choose for himself in that time loop.
Evon has somehow managed to in all her years of being a cashier, which is two, meet every single pre-point and not realize it. Evon goes by Eve. Whett is Eve's boss. Whett and Randall are friends.
Eve lives with her roommate Rose who has very obvious feelings for her and Eve is oblivious. (Would really be a shame if something were to happen to Eve which caused Rose to never be able to properly tell her her feelings, ha. On a completely unrelated note Rose is actually one of Nick's ancestors so maybe that's a good thing because he literally wouldn't exist if they were together oops. This just in, woman (me) who can't handle tragedy made another tragedy.)
Umbra may or may not be in a cult?? It's really unclear to an outsider if it's a cult or just a really dedicated group of people to studying the Moon. She does have powers from this because I think that's cool.
If Cynosura had a nickel for every time he has been brutally transformed he would have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
He got cursed by a weird gem thing that was in his backyard when he was like twelve. Given the fact that he's already cursed he can't be cursed again so he goes out looking for those items to stop anyone else from being cursed. (Yes, he has ice powers I thought it would be cool for his pre point to also have them, shut up.)
Cynosura and Umbra used to be friends before Cynosura's cursing and then became penpals because they couldn't see each other in person they recently have started talking in person again. I feel it is important to mention that Umbra literally couldn't care less that he was cursed, she's more mad he didn't talk to her in person for that whole time. (They're like in their thirties I don't know the exact ages)
(Wow sure hope Umbra doesn't see something she's not supposed to see and go to run off to tell him and drag him down with her to be higher being of existence forcefully accidentally because she couldn't keep it to herself) (also Celesteal gets Cynosura pointified Midway through talking about how they probably shouldn't know this and how one of them might get hurt because he quote unquote "thought it would be really funny" Umbra tried to punch him in the face, to little success.)
Despair is an orphan and is also distinctly not human. (He's not exactly sure how to say what he is in English so he just goes with what everybody else calls him, a demon.) he also chose that name when he was an edgy teenager, his friends call him Dee because it's kind of hard to take the name Despair seriously. Despair still finds the name cool even though he is going to be twenty soon.
Cynosura offered him a place to stay shortly after he lost his parents at like 10ish. He takes up this offer randomly and then randomly leaves. They consider each other to kind of be like Uncle and nephew.
Eve, Despair, and Laoin are all friends.
Laoin is part dragon because I think that's cool.
Funny random thing I thought of, Laoin is friends with Trussy (I don't like that name that much I kind of want to change it but I don't know to what) who is friends with Sheldon And Laoin is also friends with Despair who is friends with Cynosura so when Cynosura needed house repairs once Despair mentioned that to Laoin who mentioned it to Trussy who then paired up with Sheldon to help fix Cynosura house while not knowing him directly at all.
Ixol gets pointified last and only gets pointified because his entire friend group mysteriously disappeared and he managed to -in his grief- figure out almost everything he had a board with red string across it and everything he was like one pin away from figuring out the identity of Stratosfear, I am serious. He figured out that the points probably where his friends because it's a little suspicious that each time one of his friends disappears there's a new guy with their exact personality who doesn't remember their past, this happened to him like four times. Cyalm when he realized what Despair had figured out was shocked and really impressed because he proceeded to do that and then never do anything like that ever again.
Yawgate is not supposed to let the pure points into other pure points dimensions but he does it anyway behind Celesteal's back because he feels really bad that they wouldn't be able to see each other any other way. (Celestial doesn't really care that much, he knows Yawgates doing it he just feels like it's not worth his time to stop it. Yawgate doesn't know that Celesteal knows about that) Only reason he didn't visit Stratosfear for that whole time is because Celestial specifically blocked off that pocket dimension.
Morword is surprisingly optimistic for seeing an infinite number of alternative timelines that the future could go into many of which includes people she cares about dying. But she chooses to specifically not think about that.
Pasless is one of the only people who knows about the infinite amount of timelines cause unlike the rest of them there is only one him and he is just split apart infinitely, he does a surprisingly good job at keeping the different parts of him separate and not letting anyone else know that he is constantly doing that. He talks to Morword about it occasionally though. Morword doesn't let him know how much it bothers her that those infinite number of timelines that she sees do actually happen in a different timeline.
That whole speech Morword and Pasless gave about how "you control the future but can someone else control the past and if so would we know" was incredibly pre-planned, they practice that for like a month straight once Morword saw that someone was going to see them.
(Yes, I am a sucker for them considering themselves siblings, how did you know?)
Stratosfear has PTSD.
The Red x did not have a name he consistently went by until someone else decided to name him (I want the first star savior to name him but I am not sure if that directly goes against the canon) and then once he realized he could change his name he went ballistic with changing his name. Like, come on he did it thrice.
Blueband is one of the few humans the Red x personally likes blueband is very loyal to the Red x and as a reward for his good behavior he gets to be pointified and keep his memories (he's the red guy who tried and failed to guard the elemental points) he's a little upset that he can't wear his hat anymore due to the horns. When blue bands pointified form I forgot his name and I don't care enough to look it up see stratosfear he exclusively refers to him as the star stealer, this annoys Stratosfear greatly.
VR! The shard savior is a 20 year old (or at least she thinks she is) named Charlotte (hooray I didn't steal that name form that fanfiction I read 2 years ago) who, as previously established, thinks it is completely normal to not remember the first 15 years of your life and is Celesteal's favorite creation. (She does not know this)
VR! Verfection (Yes, he is a pointified version of the second Star saver, he has lost all of his memories.) is best friends with the Voxier. (Their friendship is the poster child for extrovert adopts introvert) Verfection is one of the very few people that Voxier actually cares about and makes them actually want to exist and not return to the nothingness he (supposedly) came from.
VR! Verfection and Charlie freaking hate each other.
COS! Arrolin and Ixol freaking die. And on a completely unrelated note Compale loses one of his legs. (They're not supposed to be able to lose those but voixer managed to anyway) You see the joke is that it's not unrelated Ixol dies so Compale won't, haha. (This just in woman (me) who, once again, can't handle tragedies has made another tragedy.)
Still COS! Ixol also had the ability to see ghosts and was able to see Arrolin's ghost she was happy about this, Ixol was not. Ixol could always see ghosts, he just thinks he's really lost at this time, he already knew he was probably insane this was just the tipping point for him to actually realize it. Once Ixol is dead he also becomes a ghost and realizes he probably should have told the others before he kicked the bucket.
Also COS! geez I have a lot of head cannons for COS! Said crown of shadows is a corrupting force that corrupts the user and when in a room with only one person will attempt to attach itself to said person's head. Voixer would have without the crown of shadows never tried to actually kill the points just try to figure out a method to go back to the void it's only the crown of shadows that gave him the idea of killing the characters in the story to also kill himself to end the story. Not that the rest of the points will ever know this except for Nicholas.
You know what I'm just going to tell you when it's not COS! Anymore okay?: Oopsie Daisy, Nick, you killed the guy who the crown was on and you were the only person in the room, guess what the crown is going to try to do. That's right! Force itself on your head. So Nick any actively crumbling building thing starts getting pointified, uh-oh. Luckily for him he's in an actively crumbling building (a sentence that has probably been said exactly once) and the rubble knocks the crown of his head, (Yay!) it also cuts off his arm (Not yay!) because he is not fully point yet and he does not get the neat ability to regrow his limbs until after one of his limb is already gone.
He wakes up surprisingly okay for just being under a crumbling building, he's also a point now and actively missing an arm and there's also this evil crown trying to get on his head so in his panic he tries it to stuff it in his bag, this somehow works in stopping it.
A little meme based off of that:
He's going to go by verfection now because he feels a little weird in breaking tradition of choosing a new name when you become a point. He also got the ability to see ghosts, get haunted by your dead friends, idiot. Surprisingly this is good for Verfection's mental health because that means he can't completely isolate himself. Voixer doesn't directly haunt him because he feels a little still messed up in the head and also feels guilt, a lot of guilt, and shame, quite a bit of shame.
Verfection just went back to living at his house because he didn't tell anyone where he lived. Verfection is not doing well because even though he got the crown off soon enough that he didn't go completely mad he still isn't doing great mentally and feels a lot of guilt because he got the memories of Voixer and now feels like he killed someone who didn't deserve it. He's mostly just trying to keep the crown safe to stop anyone else from getting it put on their heads. Surprisingly putting it in a bag still is working. Just for safe measures he locked it in a specific room that no one is meant to go into as well as putting it in a safe in said room. He still has not told his friends he's alive because he feels a lot of guilt and a lot of emotions right now.
Also Signol just loses her memory again, don't worry she'll get it all back when they managed to figure out how symbol breaking works in the crown of shadows timeline which I haven't figured out how they're going to figure that out but I know they will figure it out.
FINALLY WE'RE DONE WITH CROWN OF SHADOWS FOR NOW
VR! Verfection was actually a scrapped idea that Celesteal had he scrapped it because he thought it was too similar to the first star savior's fate. However those scrapped ideas came out whenever the world started literally breaking.
None of them know how points work (except celesteal for obvious reasons) exactly they mostly got it figured out but sometimes they'll just figure out something completely new about how they work for instance,
Okay after this point I'm just going to specify when the vein reveal section is done: There would be a boss fight between Stratosfear and Anshine in which they would fuse and then not figure out how to defuse until after they were uncorrupted. After Celesteal was brought back he revealed but that's just a thing they can do and I've always been able to do he just never mentioned it before.
Despite the fact that Yawgate is on the side of "we need to bring celesteal back or else the world will literally end", it is important to know he is one of celesteal's top five biggest haters. Probably being biggest hater number two or three. He was often threatened with being erased from existence by him and over time him threatening to do that to people that you love and actually doing it at least once causes you to dislike a person over time.
In the final fight of "we shouldn't bring back an evil dictator who literally locked up a guy for 300 years cause he thought it'd be funny I guess" vs "okay but we literally need to bring him back or else the world will literally end we hate him too" Verfection accidentally cuts Charlie's arm off which simultaneously makes Verfection's symbol break due to the intensity of it all and causes Charlie to realize that she is indeed not human because her arm is bleeding pink and is shattering into shards that are actively rebuilding themselves in front of her. All of the same time celesteal is actively getting remade from the shards collected.
Celesteal did not intend to come back after being killed he did not think that the world would just shatter into pieces, he thought it would be more like a crown of shadows if anything. When he does come back he's like "Oh. Oh. I messed up didn't I? I made a miscalculation somewhere... :D Hiiiii Charlie! <3 My favorite creation! How are you doing? Oh, you've grown so much! What are they feeding you around here?" And everyone's just kind of standing there like "what".
ALRIGHT I THINK THAT'S THE END OF IT
I definitely forgot some of my head cannons (I have a lot) but this post is getting so like incredibly long I think I'm good with ending it here.
Ending notes:
"Why do half of the pre points know each other? It's not very realis-"
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫 I don't care. And they all live in pretty close vicinity just because that's easier for me. And by pretty close I mean no one is more than like a city away.
"Where are the elemental points? You barely mentioned them."
Shut up they're still there I just forgot their names and I don't have a lot of ideas for them all I know is blue bands pointified form I forgot his name was supposed to be guarding them, he failed at guarding them. If you want to make propaganda you can view the submissions here but please know the second tab which also contains the reasonings submitted has like every TW so be prepared!
Right now the rules of the next section of the tournament are as followed
You WILL be civil to the shippers of the ship you think is worse, no I do not CARE if it's abuse or incest or the most problematic thing in the world, we will be CIVILIZED. If I catch you spewing toxic shit about how all shippers of a ship are horrible terrible people who need to die you WILL be blocked. We are not here for a guilt trip! We are here to have fun being dramatic! Small PLAYFUL pokes are fine, but everyone should have fun even the shippers of the ship you think is worse.
I shouldn't have to specify but be like, actually decent about what you say, I had a person in the forms wishing rape on a character and like bro take that up with your ao3 search results not me or anyone else here. So like, yeah the characters are just characters, but theres a difference between edge and potentially being intensely triggering and uncomfortable for literally no reason.
If you want to make propaganda I advise either light hearted gags at a ships expense,
Example of a light hearted gag would be like a picture of Junko sitting on Mikan kneeling into a bench and a caption like "would you really not vote for this?" thats hilarious and doesn't target actual people.
Or you draw art for the ship that gives you less despair, branch out a bit. Never drawn I dunno Ryoma x Kirumi before but you think its less toxic then uhh Hajime x Mikan? Well here's your chance to try drawing some Ryoma x Kirumi! Make propaganda for the ship you want people to NOT vote for!
I can't enforce this but the tag you want to use for anything you create for this should be "#Despair Ship" this is so people can filter it out more easily. I'm here to cause fun, not make people frustrated because their tag got overrun.
Again I also can't enforce this but remember the point isn't to find the ship that's the most abusive, or the most toxic, its to find the ship that gets the most despair. For instance there are very few ships on the list I find personally more despairing then kokichi and shuichi, and that's because it's a lot harder to stumble on some of the more kneejerk offensive ships compared to how I cannot escape kokichi and shuichi making out no matter how hard i try. Like I said I can't enforce this but if you're wondering why a ship you think is more inherently toxic is losing, this is probably the reason why.
I am also a single person, while I have a friend who is here on the sidelines cheering me on, I hand made the bracket and everything else about this. If the brackets aren't perfectly balanced or a ship you don't like didn't make the cut, remember that I am just a single person.
Voter fraud is allowed and encouraged I'm not a coward this is the voting fraud website if you're determined to make a thousand sock puppet accounts just to make sure Celeste x Togami is the winner then that's the biggest possible powermove and I respect it. Also I guess I accept bribes now, because I think it's funny.
Thank you for all the support I've gotten! While rather small scale compared to other polls, the fact I've got people sending asks and following means a lot to me. Even if I barely get any interaction from here out, I still had fun and am happy to have done this. Voting will either open Saturday or Sunday but if I forget and it's a day or too late then feel free to shake me in the asks by short term memory is Not Good

2023 Game of the Year Countdown
#3 Megaman Legacy Collection
Nintendo Switch, 2018
So, it’s kind of misleading to say this game released in 2018, but that’s when it was released on Switch. The collection originally came out in 2015, and covers the first six Megaman games, all released for the NES between 1987 and 1993.
The games are exactly as they were on the NES, even the screen flicker is still there. It looks and sounds just as good, now with neat little borders around the game to fill out what would be empty areas around the original 4:3 aspect ratio from the CRT days.
Additional features include lots of artwork and the manuals, but also a save feature to leave the (still present) old school passwords by the wayside. Passwords were neat at the time because games didn’t have save features, and it honestly feels kind of weird to play without them. I used to leave the master password with my copy of Megaman X at all times.
The major additional feature added to this version of the game would be the rewind option. At any time during a stage, you can hold the rewind button to reverse time for up to about a minute. Call me old school, but I think that this trivializes the experience of playing an old school game. New games like Celeste bring you back immediately after a death, but the stages are built around such an idea and can be much more punishing as a result since the player won’t have to suffer through distant checkpoints. Megaman games only have a couple of checkpoints per level, and none of the stages ever feel unfair or impossible. On top of that, the boss fights have a built-in checkpoint room, so you can always retry right away. And even if you get a game over at the boss, NES games did not have particularly long levels, so it’s a bit puzzling to me why they’d need to include the rewind option. Only the Yellow Devil from Megaman 1 is difficult enough to really warrant it in my mind.
Other than that, the games are untouched and look great in HD. It’s hard to make something that is already just 8-bit pixels look worse, I guess, and the colors look a bit more clear on a modern TV. It’s funny to see the progression from earlier NES games to later ones because the earlier ones often had less vibrant colors and nothing going on in the background. Megaman 1 looks fairly bland in most levels. While Megaman 6 looks excellent, with more colors and backgrounds.
I was finally able to beat the Yellow Devil, something that always escaped me on original hardware. Maybe it was those horrendously designed controllers (I hadn’t purchased my dogbone controller the last time I made a run on MM1), but I always struggled in that fight, even with the cheese cheating option of pausing repeatedly. MM1 was the only one of the six I hadn’t beaten before playing this collection.
MM2 is still my favorite, probably even close to a Top 10 all time game for me. I can’t say enough good about it aside from it’s something every gamer should play. Classic tunes, classic weapons, classic bosses…it’s a masterpiece on the NES.
MM5 has a really unique level for its time, where you flip from the floor to the ceiling and keep on going. They’ve done that in a number of other games since, but I wonder if it was the first time something like this was tried.
In the end, it was really fun to replay all the classic Megaman games, my favorite platformer series, and one I think everyone should play. It goes on sale very often, so pick it up.

Hey gamers, this is my first actual post here.
Minors should maybe not be here if only for the odd NSFW post, so here's your warning if that's a concern of yours.
Bit of a length warning I suppose? I ramble a bit, but it's my pinned so I guess now's the time.
As my blurb says and avatar implies, I'm a 20 year-old transfem, working with she/her pronouns currently. I'm generally kind of hesitant to really talk about myself to strangers or to even say something in the first place, even when it's just to the void like I have been since I started here about a month and a half ago. You may recall my mentioning that this is my first actual post, or have noticed that I've only tagged like, 2 of my reblogs at time of writing. I'm trying to get out there a bit more which is why I'm even making this, but if I take some time to reply to a pm or whatever, know that there's this on top of anything irl. Also I have a tendency to write in a way as though I were actually talking, so apologies for any overuse of commas or really long sentences. Trying to be mindful of this way of writing myself though.
Should say that whatever eldritch critter lords over us all gave me the delightful combo of being able to remember a bunch of absolutely bizarre and incredibly niche things about whatever while also forgetting it all when it miraculously becomes useful. You may be familiar with the "Spirit of the Staircase?" Gamer, you're looking at her. I mention this to say that despite the length of some of the later parts, they're still not exhaustive.
I've also got into the habit of referring to people as gamers because it has that wonderful combo of being both gender-neutral and oddly funny to me. Not in a demeaning way, my sense of humor has just kind of veered into nonsense.
On that note, I should also mention that I myself have committed a cardinal sin and am indeed, a gamer. Platforms I'm on are Playstation and Switch. PC gaming is unfortunately out of my purview currently. I prefer PvE generally but also don't mind pwning some children if the vibes are there. Hope you have your bingo card ready because yes, Celeste is my favorite game. I have WAY too much time into Warframe and I like Dead by Daylight, Deep Rock Galactic, Risk of Rain 2/Returns, and Slay the Spire quite a bit. Tragically I've been a gamer for a while, so I'm just naming a few of my main ones right now while totally not ignoring a sizeable backlog, no sirree!
Music is also a bit of a vibes thing. Generally more of a fan of less intense songs, which may be an odd thing to follow up on by saying prog rock's also pretty cool. Longer a song is, the better is my usual take. City pop's also superb, language barrier be damned. Vaporwave's awesome. Born and raised on the rock of the 70's and 80's with parents that rarely listened to anything after Kurt Cobain rose to power for most of my younger years, so a good chunk of that has worked its way into my playlist. Video game music has a tendency to be wonderful to my ears as well. Solar Ash, both Risk of Rains (although yes, I lean towards the second + DLC here), Night in the Woods, songs from several of the Persona series (Layer Cake, Beneath the Mask - Rain and both versions of Specialist, oh my!), a few from Warframe and of course, the titular Celeste. Lena really is just something else, and I think I can say with some confidence that Quiet and Falling is just my favorite song generally. It does have some competition, so in no particular order I'll rattle some off: Anri's Shyness Boy, Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence (primarily the Hands and Feet Mix version), Hall and Oates' Out of Touch, Mac Demarco's Freaking out the Neighborhood, ABBA's Dancing Queen, Yoko Takahashi's The Cruel Angel's Thesis, Prince's Little Red Corvette, Kensuke Ushio's Crybaby, Jane Pop's Drive to 1980 Love, Shakatak's Bitch to the Boys, Komm Susser Todd from End of Evangelion, Mystical Composer by Momoko Kikuchi, Love don't come Easy by The New Jersey Connection, Once in a Lullaby by Chris Christodoulou, No Tengo Dinero - Maxi by Righeira, Seaside by Dan Mason, In your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, Dress Down by Kaoru Akimoto, Radio Ga-Ga by Queen, Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie, and this list is getting kind of long, huh? God, music is just so freakin' awesome. Truly, one of my biggest regrets will be that I didn't hear enough of it. Band-wise, I'll mention I quite like Steely Dan, Chappell Roan, Yves Tumor, Casiopea, 1986 Omega Tribe, Car Seat Headrest, The Comet is Coming (loving Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam right now), Dan Mason, Mitch Murder, Desired, Nyarons, Seycara Orchestral, Shakatak, Ibrahim, OSC, Both Jack Stauber and his Micropop, Prince, Queen, Junko Ohashi, Anri, Meatloaf, Gorillaz, Night Tempo, City Girl, Yes, PKCH, Chris Christodoulou, Cape Coral, Tupperwave, Oresama, Weird Al (EBAY in particular will forever take up some of my brain space at any given moment) and good ol' Lena Raine. While we're here, I guess the one album I'll mention is Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds. Make sure it's the original though, some of the songs were revamped in recent years and personally I'm not partial to that rendition of them.
If you inferred that I might like some anime given the above section has quite a few Japanese artists then yes, your intuition was correct. I have fallen off of it recently, but stuff like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Mob Psycho, and My Life With Monster Girls are some that I enjoy.
Romantically, I'd say I'm into women. We're entering kind of weird territory for me here though because while I would quite like a romantic partner and someone to cuddle with, I'm kind of not so sure how keen I am on any actual sex? Half of me wonders if I'm just asexual while the other half wonders if it might actually be a case of finding the proper someone. I don't know, it's very much uncharted territory for me and I'm not sure where I'll end up on it. Also the whole "finally accepting that I'm trans" thing probably has its influence somewhere in there.
Politically, just give people stuff. Meet their basic needs, implement a UBI, make it so that every grandparent has a bottomless jar of sweets for the wee ones. Public transport good, cars bad, Golf is actively terrible in multiple ways. Chuck bricks at cops, detonate an oil rig (in Minecraft, I guess), eat the rich, the usual. Ideally, mix the three. Abortions and contraception are healthcare, and alongside education all should be free. Kill the cop in your head, both in the sense that if you saw someone shoplift, no you didn't and that you don't have to impose yourself on people just having some earnest, unconventional fun. These are some of my viewpoints, but I'm hesitant to try and pin myself down with a specific position due to a lack of having really read well, any greater political works, still needing to flatten some views I've kind of just had seep into me from the greater culture ("But is x really the proper thing" is tragically a constant, but I've needed to quash the Devil's Advocate voice in my head for years at this point. The little bastard never truly seems to leave. Yeah, having a little gremlin constantly try and check my thoughts can be handy now and then, but it gets really annoying when I think about topics like how the death penalty shouldn't be a thing because like, what are you doing here you idiot? Don't let your personal misgivings with a person allow for executions), and honestly a little because I need to try and be firmer as a person. I put a lot more stock into the thoughts of others than my own, and sometimes it's tough to remember that me and my thoughts also have value, whatever that looks like. Is that the best thing to just type aloud? Also don't hit your kids, regardless of circumstance.
Uhhh got to say I'm blanking a bit on what else to put in. Closing remarks now I suppose. Life is fucking awesome, and I mean that to apply to most-every instance of it. We're all just here on our queer little blogs having a time with one another, and isn't that wonderful? The past 5 years or so have been terrible mentally for me with a few really bad months in particular this year, but I finally feel like I'm on the up-and-up. Accepting that I'm trans after repressing it for a while, finally cutting off a bad friend (hopefully for good), working on getting HRT. With any luck, I'll have some patches in my hands soon. That's huge for me, not only in the obvious sense but because my brain somehow twisted itself into thinking that I can't take this whole topic seriously outside of hair growth and shaving facial hair until I actually get some form of HRT into my hands, AND IT'S HAPPENING! AAAAHHH!!! I'm moving into the next chapter of my life after being kind of stagnant for a while, and I've had such a wonderful vigor these past few weeks that I haven't known in ages. I've really embraced an appreciation of what others might consider mundane, and just trying to be a bit goofy. Letting things roll off of me, even if the anxiety tends to really weaken my legs and make me nauseous. I stay silly. The horrors may persist, but so do I. So do you. How lovely.
Also,
#transfem#tw child abuse#Not my own abuse though#My parents are just so amazing#I love them both so much#Did that come off wrong? Apologies#I just gush about them whenever possible#Did I even do this post correctly?#Let's find out baby first time for everything#I'm also on mobile if that's relevant I guess

this cahara fellow intrigues me… might i know more 👀
SMILING ok so basically he's a mercenary who's been hired for a hefty sum to retrieve a prisoner from the dungeons of fear and hunger, a captain of a mercenary army. The job is already suspicious to him but having to do dirty work and petty thievery from a young age he takes it.
Though as selfish as he is this job isn't entirely for himself, he promises his pregnant wife he'll buy her out of debt from the brothel she's working at and a life of luxury after this mission so they won't have to ever think of their past again. Makes sense when the intro of his playthrough says he had been abandoned as a child.
It's interesting because while you play as him you get a lot of other insight such as some flavor text when you pick up the small dagger. Unsuited for someone like you but smaller kids could wield it, and he is reminded of his father who taught him how to use one in combat at an early age. So his parents were at least semi-present.
If you play as any other character you can find him in the level 3 prisons where he asks if he could join your party, upon agreeing and leaving the area you'll find he's missing along with some of your blue vials (if you don't have those then literally anything else) already showing petty thievery. Though if you find him later in the mines you could lash out at him putting you in battle or pretend that didn't happen and he can be recruited in your party permanently.
He's a funny guy, sort of the most laid back out of all of the party even being flirty at times. Keep in mind he's still in a relationship with Celeste (his wife) and even with that demeanor I don't think he would like. abandon her so it's definitely an open agreement. With how his S ending has him return to her and his dream sequence he's pretty devoted. That said he's always down for the marriage sequences having some of the best dialogue when you "show love" to him.
It makes it all the more obvious when he starts losing his will the deeper you both go depending on how you manage him.
SPOILERS DOWN BELOWWWWW↓↓↓
ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE (through spoiler osmosis, I haven't finished most of the endings yet nor have I gotten to termina) IS HOW ITS IMPLIED HE DIED IN THE DUNGEONS. YEA ALL THE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS' S ENDINGS ARE CANON EXCEPT HIS. HE'S THE ONE WHO LED THE GIRL TO ASCENSION AT THE DEPTHS. THOUGH I DON'T THINK HE'D KNOW THIS IT ALSO MAKES THE MOST SENSE SINCE HE'S AN EXPECTING FATHER HIMSELF AND WOULDN'T HAVE LEFT HER BEING ABANDONED AS A CHILD HIMSELF AND OHHHHHHHHH GOD CAHARAAAAAAA. CHARAHHEA
#asks#anon#i went so long but hes the most beginer friendly bc he can start off with skills like lockpicking steal and en garde#lockpicking being as the name suggests opening most locked doors without a key#steal you can steal from enemies during battle with the chance of rare or key items#en garde ambushing an enemy in the overworld and getting the first free turns against them in battle#hes so silly he makes me weep and cry hes my bestfriend having him in your party should boost mind idc idc#he has the endless soul which in game means *mumbling*#ok well i gotta open it again and read more into that

001 for remadora 👻
Oh Eve. You know my feelings about the way Tonks was handled in canon, so Remadora stans, please proceed with caution.
when I started shipping it if I did:
Reading fanwork centered on them. Specifically yours and @thecat-isblogging-blog work!
my thoughts:
Tonks was shafted in canon. A character with great introduction (she is funny, she is a bit nosy, she is impertinent with mad-Eye who everyone respects or is wary of! She has ties to the Black family and her mother has history with Sirius and Bellatrix that would make her ripe for exploration). She got reduced to a red herring in HBP ("oh whats up with Tonks? Why is she depressed?") and then love interest and mother in DH, who exists offscreen to propel Remus and Harry's relationship. I will also say that the hospital scene isn't great in what it intends to be - grand declaration of romance. (it says a lot of unhealthy and dysfunctional things that I think is great to explore for the relationship in fan work).
What makes me happy about them:
Doomed relationship! I love doomed relationships. I love relationships that may not work out in future, but still irrevocably changes a character. I love what you had to say about them here. That take really speaks to me and my life experiences.
What makes me sad about them:
I am forever amused that most in sync we see them together in DH is when they jump off the fence together when the Minister of magic comes in for Harry's birthday. Tonks, my girl, the man is a walking red flag lol. They have problems, and its delicious and sad, but wonderful to explore.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I only read works that have been recommended, so my experience of this ship in fanwork has been stellar! You, Cat, Merlin and Celeste are pretty much the only authors I have read and it has been great.
things I look for in fanfic:
Writers who really excavate the potential of Tonks from what we see in canon, and a Remus characterisation that I agree with XD
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
For Tonks? Fleur, maybe. I think there is an interesting idea there about women with powers related to their appearance - Tonks with her ability to change, and Fleur with her ability to do a version of thrall. XD Remus needs therapy - but if I want to make him worse, I would pick Sirius. If I want a healthier relationship for him, I would pick James.
My happily ever after for them:
Co-parenting Teddy after an amicable break up after a whirlwind relationship.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Depends on Tonks' mood. If she wants to be big spoon, she will be.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Watching Muggle movies together. Remus likes it because it gives him a connection to his mother. Tonks discovers it thanks to him, and she tries to find out if her father had favourite movies growing up.

big long rant abt how happy i am rn but its LONG ^_^
holy shit . its a sunday evening and im somehow SO FUCKING HAPPY. like. nnothing even HAPPENED today i just had A GOOD DAY IN GENERAL this is incredible. like. i watched a nice tv episode and saw a funny video and played some minecraft and hollow knight and watched a fuckin crazy jrwi episode and woke up before the sun and felt the wind and watched the sun and heard the birds and. man. and tomorrow i know i have school and thats not even ruining my mood at all. because i have history. and my history teacher is nice. and he wont mind that i havent done any of the work because he gets it. and he explains things in interesting ways and hes kind and he never shouts and its the only class i not only feel comfortable asking questions, but where i WANT to ask questions because hes NICE about questions and i usually probably wouldnt care abt the shit were learning abt but he tells it like its actually REAL and not just a sheet of information. and im just happy. and whilst i didnt finish my codeflippa drawing like i hoped i would, i think ive come to terms w the fact i dont think i wanna ever Finish it, bc my creativity for it died down. i think ill just surround it in a few more flippa doodles n then post it bc ITSF FINE !!!! man. and like. i think ive remembered how it felt to be 5 again. when everything was SO EXCITING and i had no worries about the future because the only thing that EXISTED was here and now. and the world WAS big and scary but it was also incredible and interesting and full of light and colour and. like right now i can smell dinner cooking and for once im taking a moment to feel excited about that. because YES dinner happens everyday but !!! isnt it great that theres gonna be food soon !!!!!! and ill be able to eat it and i hope its smth i like. my sense of smell DID get fucked up 2 years ago BUT THAT ONLY MEANS DINNERS EVEN MORE OF A SURPRISE !!! it smells vaguely of HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT IT SMELLS LIKE THAT ONE CHICKEN DISH I HAD A LOT LIKE 5 YEARS AGO it most likely isnt that but ica nt belive i remember what that smells like . and like !!!! right now im listening tot he celeste soundtrack AND ITS SO GOOD !!!!!!! and MUSIC SOUNDS SO GOOD !!!!! and i played minecraft today and i tamed a dog called. smth. i havent named it yet. and a cat named smth toast related bc i was rlly hungry 4 toast and then i saw it. and i found out there r 3 seperate villages all really close to my base and i built a farm with potatoes and carrots and wheat and i mined for ages and realised my sense of direction in minecraft maybe isnt as bad as i thought it was because i spent like 2 hours in a cave and got utterly lost, but still knew which way west was. and i played a little hollow knight and didnt do too much but got across greenpath because i started a new save yesterday where i did all of crossroads. and if i play more hk later im gonna complete greenpath (or atleast what u can do b4 any other areas). and i saw my cat this morning !!!! and he was so friendly and he went meow meow meow and i went meow meow meow. and i just watched the new DW episode and !!!!! it was rlly good !!!!! ofCOURSEit had its moments of :/ BUT THAT DW FOR U IT ALWAYS HAS ITS :/ MOMENTS but it was SO good !!!!!!! and i love life sm rn and i can hum along to celeste music and my room is a good temperature and. my face ghurts bc ive been smilng so much. but im happy ^_^ and who knows how ill feel later tonight but what matters is that RIGHT NOW i m so in love witht he world :3

no bc it's also been. YEARS since i was Really into dr (and i was. REALLY into dr KSJDF. yeah it's been like three years huh). but YESSS your taste is so good. my favorites if i remember correctly were uhhhh hina and sayaka from thh for SURE. there were a bunch more who i liked but those two were the ones i ended up being not normal at all about. and then AKANE akane was like. i loved akane. AND YESSS sonia nevermind the character of ALL time. i remember i liked hajime a lot too i think he was my favorite protag. and i really enjoyed gundham!! sdr2 was probably my favorite cast on average, i enjoyed them all a lot with like one or two notable exceptions. and then with v3 my favorites were miu tenko and angie because i love widely hated female characters lol nobody got those three like i did i was in the trenches doing deep character analysis i tell you
ALSO. nekomaru most mentally stable dr character truther!! i am also usually All Girls but i think about hypothetical nekomaru nagito dynamic semi regularly because putting the most mentally stable and one of the most mentally. not. stable characters next to each other yields extremely funny dynamics..
i also put a LOT of thought into celeste sayaka dynamics like it's about the fronts we put up the masks we wear the performance of it all..... i will never be normal about those two ever.. man i am thinking about dr characters again this is wild.
also YESSS i love kyoko's va and i loved her as ann in p5.... speaking of which...... who are your p5 favorites.... i am a haru girlie personally. also talk to me more about va's i would love to hear about va's...
sorrry for the late response, im gonna answer the rest of my asks in the next little bit :]
youand me🤝🤝 i was huge in DR during the second half of ? 2020 and it came to be such a Big hyperfixation. i CANT believe it's been 3 years. i just can't. BUT THANK YOU!!!!! THAT MEANS A LOT 2 ME HEHE i am pretty much a fan of all the characters in one way or another though... except for the one that starts w/ k and ends in okichi LOL...
HINA AND SAYAKA ARE SUCHU GOOD CHOICES FOR SUUURE sayaka is just incredibly interesting (despite the amount of screentime she got) and aoi is such a genuine sweetheart, i lvoe them both. AKANE IS ALSO SUCH A GOOD CHOICE, its amazing all this girl has gone through and yet shes still one of the cheeriest characters. and i jsut love how like. how she is with the people she cares about. PLUS HER RELATIONSHIP W/ SONIA IS SOOO CUTE... i specifically remember liking their lil interactions during one of the ? last trials. hajime best protag is also a very good choice, i remembner rly likking his personality and stugff.. plus i loved his voice as well lkldngd you're def not alone in loving the sdr2 cast in its entirety! which im sure you're aware of. im kind of interested to hear who your 1 or 2 exceptions were though (eyeballs)AND OOO A GOOD BATCH FOR V3... i of course cant say much in depth since i havent played the third game but GOSH... i can def say now that both tenko and angie esp deserved sooooooo SOOOOO mcuh better... i hate what kodaka did to them. im super happy all 3 of them had such a huge fan behind them though!!!!!
YESSSS GLAD ITS AGREED UPON and GOSH GOSH ive def seen nekomaru and nagito once or twice before and that seems HILARIOUS. i think theyd balance each out well... since obv nagito's whole thing is self deprecation and whatnot and nekomaru's whole thing is pumping others up and cheering for them right? i think in the end nekomaru wpuld help nagito work on that part of himself
IVE THOUGHT ABT A CELESTE AND SAYAKA DYNAMIC BEFORE 2 OOUGH i also rtemember adding like.... kyoko into the mix for some reason... i cant remmeber exactlt why holdon. ok....... i beleive it has something to do w/ all of three of them concealing their "true" selves for like.all of their lives... and i find that sooo interesting bc they all seem so different and yet. emotional / emotions wise. theyre so very similar.concealing certain aspects of themselves to an extreme degree? being shit w/ regulating their emotions? yeah. sorry for going off topic but YES sayaka / celeste is so good...... itd genuinely be a great like. contrast / balance. someone whos Mostly in touch w/ their feelings paired with someone who literally hides themself for a living? amazing. does any fo this make sense i hope it does my bad its been a while since i thought abt DR characters too DJKGDN cant believe this shit

“i know it’s like, childish. but i wish there were more hours in the day– and they were dedicated to like, gaming.” stevie pauses, before continuing. “okay, maybe not gaming, but like. fun things. not work, school, obligations to other things– just good ole fashion entertainment. relaxation.” he gives a wistful little sigh, tilting his head back a bit. “we can only dream,” he croons dramatically.
shuffling closer to jae, he peers a little closer to see, blinking at the screen. “has the little balloon come by already?” he asks curiously, peering at the corners of the screen as if he’d see it suddenly flutter on by. “there’s some many recipes. and they just keep adding more.” every new update it comes with a little extra slew of things to gather. at least it makes for fun when you come back to it after awhile. stevie lets out a little sigh. “i know…” he mumbles. he does miss playing the game; but does he really want to deal with the guilt trip he gets from just opening it? its a game, sure, but damn. it still knows how to hit you where it hurts the most. “i’ll do it for you, then. just so we can visit each other.”
a little noise of recognition leaves him. “she’s the deer, right?” he asks, lip jutting out in a pout as he thinks. bobbing his head in agreement. “he is! he’s funny too. the smug ones always have something to say.” he snorts, thinking back. marshal will say the coolest things while doing a dumb pose and it always cracks stevie up. “yeah! is that his name? funny.” his head shakes with a laugh. “i have stinky, too. but that’s because i love his name.” he confesses with a sheepish grin, before focusing back on the screen. “has celeste come to your island yet? any meteor showers?”
jae give a nod in agreement to the other's words. "there isn't. so much to do so little time to do it all in." sure his mind usually made sure he was always switching to something different when it came to his hobbies but he was too laser focused on island decorating at the moment. he was sure that in stevie's game, he'd come up with something more to do. all types of cozy games seemed to love giving many different ways to earn money as well as all the tasks possible to occupy yourself with.
jae easily lets stevie see more of the screen as his moves his character around to make sure the island is the type of aesthetic he wants. he knows he's meticulous in that way. "isn't it? i'm still looking for recipes. feels like i'm still missing some." he admits, knowing that was just one of many things he had to do in the game. "you should! we could visit each other's islands. You know they will but they'd be happy to see you." he knows that at times he's too busy to pick up the game but he tries his best to do so whenever he has a spare moment even if it's just to say hi to his villagers.
"oh, i have shino, she's one of my faves. i swear i am collecting all the cute villagers that i can." he giggles, making it his mission now to find all the villagers on his island to show the other male. "i know i also have apollo and tex. those are all i can remember off the top of my heard." he finds himself turning towards stevie, a smile on his lips. "marshal is cute. i'd love to have him." he knows a few friends of his also loved that villager a lot. "are you talking about hornsby? he's also adorable even with him being lazy."

Books I’ve Read in 2020
AHello! I’m trying to read as many books as I can during the quarantine, here’s what I’ve finished so far:
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (literary fiction): a son writes a letter about his life to his illiterate mother. Breathtakingly beautiful with it’s way with words this book is lovely and real in the hardest and sweetest ways. The author’s combination of prose and poetry is dazzling and intricate, this book has stuck with me for days afterward. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (fantasy): a money-lender gets in trouble after bragging she can turn silver into gold and is kidnapped and ordered to do so by a fey creature. It may be that I am the perfect audience for this type of book, but it’s my favorite thing I’ve read all year. It’s a book that equally takes on the fantastical and real-world with compelling female characters at the center of the whole thing. A wonderful fantasy journey inspired by eastern-European Jewish folklore. 5 out of 5 stars.
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll (horror graphic novel): a series of short horror comics. Absolutely bone-chilling! This was a really fun type of scary story, especially the last one which made my skin absolutely crawl. Deliciously eerie, this was treat to read if not a little too short. 4 out of 5 stars.
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender (magical realism): a young girl can taste other people’s emotions in their cooking and begins to understand her family in new ways. This was a weird book, but it has everything you’ve got to love about that combination of the surreal and mundane. It’s sense of character was electrifying and I had fun engaging with this type of off-kilter real world. I was a little frustrated in parts bc of some characters choices, but that too was true to life. 4 out of 5 stars.
Crier’s War by Nina Varela (steampunk fantasy wlw): about a Made automaton heir to a throne and her human hand-maiden that is trying to kill her. This was an easy read with a lot of tension between the two main characters that I liked, but the writing itself was very weak. There was waaay too much exposition in parts and the dialogue had some really hockey lines. I enjoyed the twists and turns in the middle of the book, but the beginning and end didn’t have much movement. 2.5 stars out of 5.
The Huntress by Kate Quinn (historical fiction): honestly, I’m a little disappointed. This book just did not hit my sweet spots, it wasn’t fast-paced enough for me to get immersed in the plot, and the characters weren’t real enough to be wholly invested in them. That said I adored Nina Markova and the Night Witches, so that did help. 3 starts out of 5.
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White (horror sci-fi retelling): HAND IN UNLOVABLE HAND. A retelling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein from the perspective of Victor Frankenstein’s wife and my God! The characters! The plot was well-enough, but the characters took the whole show for being complex and compelling. The main character was breathtakingly layered and I was wholly invested in Elizabeth and her story and the triumph at the end of this story was tangible. 4 out of 5 stars!
Uprooted by Naomi Novik (fantasy): A story of a young woman who lives in a valley where a girl must go live with a wizard for 10 years. She is certain she won’t be chosen, but ends up having to be “uprooted” herself. I enjoyed most of this book! However, I think I liked “Spinning Silver” a lot more just because the ending of this one somehow lost me. The characters were good and plot compelling, but (SPOILERS) the big battle at the end seemed to drag and didn’t interest me somehow. 3.8 out of 5 stars.
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (fantasy): excellent read! A story of a young woman in Jazz Age Mexico who goes on an adventure with a Mayan death God who is trying to regain his throne. A romp across the country absolutely brimming with likable characters and fairy tale twists. My only complaint would be that most of it felt a little predictable due to the fact we knew where we were going throughout the whole story, However, it was still greatly enjoyable for the heroine herself, Casiopea. 4 out of 5 stars!
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (literary): a story of two families in a progressive “planned” community, how their lives intertwine, their secrets, and a central question surrounding motherhood. Deeply empathetic to its characters and introspective, this is an every-day story of people in suburbia that reads like a thriller. I could barely put it down and felt deeply for its characters and situations, 5 out of 5 stars!
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (YA sci-fi suspense): a story of a group of girls at a boarding school on an island affected by the “tox” which alters their bodies in strange ways like giving them scales or an extra spine. This was an eerie, interesting read with a wlw romance! Watch out for the body horror in this one, but it was very gripping and held my interest. Some of the pacing was off in places (like the romance), but had a very creepy atmosphere that did it for me. 3.8 out of 5 stars!
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio (thriller-mystery): A thriller about a group of Shakespeare actors in their last year of college and one of their classmates who turns up dead. I enjoyed the murder mystery part of this novel more than I expected despite the fact I had guessed who had “done it” pretty early on. I really enjoyed the James-Oliver dynamic with its growing homoeroticism, but I didn’t like how the character of Meredith was handled at all. She felt like a one-note aside. I might have given this book four stars, but the ending was EXTREMELY frustrating for me and I did not like the “open-ended” conclusion. 3 out of 5 stars.
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman (literary humor): a weird character-driven comedy about an old grumpy man and a new family that moves in next to him. Warning for themes of suicide. Anyway, I don’t normally indulge in cliches like “I laughed, I cried, I loved one Cat Annoyance.” However, that’s exactly what I did. I laughed out loud, I cried my eyes out (THE CAT’S HEAD WAS IN HIS PALM), I loved this book. It was sweet and compelling and thoroughly immersive. 5 out of 5 stars!
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow (historical fantasy): set in the early 1900s comes a story of a young girl and her experience with “Doors” that lead to different worlds. This book had a lot of great character development and really interesting descriptions, however, I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to. I found it hard to get myself to sit down a read it. There was just something missing with the push to “page-turn,” but it was still a really good book. 3.7 out of 5 stars!
Gideon the 9th by Tamsyn Muir (high fantasy, kinda gay): I AM FILLED WITH EMOTIONS. This was book was definitely a page-turner. I was very confused with it at the beginning, but the characters and their interactions were, forgive the expression, the life blood of the story and kept me wholly invested. The ending has CRUSHED my heart, but damn did I have a good time reading it. 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Harrow the 9th by Tamsyn Muir (sequel to Gideon the 9th): I really enjoyed this book. It was just as strange and twisting as the first book, though I think I enjoyed the first one a bit more since I love Gideon. It was fun ride overall, though the ending was kind of really confusing. So 4 out of 5 stars.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (historical fiction): Overall, I really enjoyed this book! The writing style was personable and grounded in reality. I found myself really liking the main characters and the exploration of the life of a bi main character was really well done I thought. A solid book with drama and glamor to boot. 4.6 out of 5 stars!
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (historical fiction): A story of two sisters during WWII and their resistance to Nazi occupation. To be honest, this book wasn’t my cup of tea. It was compelling, but also wholly depressing and I felt like gloried in the pain of the two main characters too much. The history was wonderful and realistic, but it didn’t make me feel anything good afterward. It was just dark. 3 out of 5 stars.
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (mlm romance): I finally finished this after the heaviness of The Nightingale. This is a story of the First Son of the USA falling for the prince of England. And it turned out to be a very fun and light hearted read! Some of it was kinda generic and too political, and it coulda been shorter, but I thought the romance itself made up for it. It just made me feel so sweet and lovely inside. 4 out of 5 stars!
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman (literary humor): I’m searching out heartfelt books and this one ticked off all the marks on my “sweet” list. A lovely book that made me cry more times than I would like to admit. Compassionate beyond belief, funny and heartfelt. I think I enjoyed A Man Called Ove slightly more, but this book was also dear to me and something I hope to reread in the future. 4.2 out of 5 stars!
Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel (sci-fi): A post-apocalyptical story about a group of traveling Shakespeare actors and a symphony. Overall, an excellent read that somehow pictures a more realistic or even softer version of the apocalypse. At first, I wasn't happy with the jumping around of the story, but as I progressed I grew fonder and fonder of the interwoven characters and their journey. A very fascinating read about a world that hits a little too close to home. The appreciation of the arts and preserving humanity was somehow very hopeful and I was fully engaged with this story. 5 out of 5 Stars!
Up next: The Hidden Life of Trees by by Peter Wohlleben (nonfiction science), The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin (urban fantasy), The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (fantasy)
#I'll keep this list updated!#am reading#bookblr#IA talks#I've mostly read books I've really liked this year!#then again I rarely finish books I don't like

Veronica Mars season 5
So I just finished the VM movie, and I still have season four to go on, but hear me out, if I was rich I would produce season five (I already know season four' stupid ending) and it would have:
-First of all, Logan is alive, and to go with a cliché, he has amnesia. He could have been picked up by his coworkers in his shadowy job at the time of the accident and is back to work, so he is still "competent" to do the job but really doesn't remember anything. If anyone wants to see snarky Logan back, that's a great way to do it. And it also provides an excellent opportunity for the blue flashbacks every VM fan loves. Trina could come back too! And we could revisit every single LoVe moment in Neptune.
- Second, I would like the show to wrap the Castle storyline. Maybe start with Jake being murdered and Clarence being the one that has been accused with a lot of evidence? He has to ask V and Keith for help, and that would provide a lot of funny moments, but they would help him because they know he couldn't have killed Jake. There could be lots of adrenaline moments, like season 1 ending, with Veronica escaping from all the bad guys from the Castle.
I would like the killer to be Gory Sorokin, because I think he was a cool villain and it wasn't over with Veronica's revenge and his own against Logan. I want Logan and Keith and Veronica and Wallace to save the day. But I also want to have bitchy Celeste back, and Duncan!!!! I would like for Logan and Duncan to reunite because we didn't see a goodbye scene for them. While Veronica and Duncan's story was well done, I think a hug or something with Duncan's daughter appearing would be nice. Plus, some Lily moments would be the perfect ending.
- Third, there would be more Wallace, Keith, Logan, and Weevil storylines. The show was more interesting for me when everyone had their own thing going, and Wallace and Keith, and Logan were a great part of why I loved the show so much.
Wallace was someone with a strong compass moral, who wasn't afraid to call Veronica on her bs, and who was a badass of his own, so not giving him more screentime is a crime. And he would be perfect to show how you can be a badass and still have a happy family. And it would be nice to see Wallace's family once again, his mother, his dad, his little brother, etc. I would like for Wallace to see corruption at work and fight against it with the help of V and the others AND his family.
Keith, oh my beloved Keith. The show was at its peak when Keith was shown as a good father, a smart P.I. with his own cases who was actually some steps ahead of his teenage daughter instead of having him being the typical useless adult, and with his own life. I would like Keith to be able to enter a romantic relationship with someone, maybe reunite him with Alicia, and I would like for him to still kick ass. We have already seen how Keith risks life, limb, and career for Veronica, and while I would like to see that again, I would like to see Veronica this time doing it for her dad. To me, Veronica Mars is more than two characters, but at its core, their bond is one of the most important things. And I want Keith to finally hug Logan like he should have done in season one and have grandchildren.
Eli Navarro, what can I say, I want better treatment for him. I want him to finally be able to be happy and to actually be acknowledged as a friend of Logan and Keith, and for Veronica and Eli to hug a little more. My best boi deserves a happy life and to kick some ass. And I think after what Celeste did there could be some importance for him in the Kane plot.
- There could be another storyline in which someone is offing Neptune high students, so there would be many happy returns. Mostly, I want Jackie to come back! Jackie was a great character very underutilized, and it would be awesome for her to come back.
If Meg wasn't dead I would like her to return but alas :(
I would like Corny to come back, he was so underrated and I love him! Plus he was always funny. Butters and Clemmons are other characters that I would like to make a comeback to. TBH, I would like for all the students and professors to make a comeback.
OF COURSE, Mac should come back because it's Mac.
- Another plot to be tied is Keith finally locking up the Fitzpatricks. I would even like Kendall coming back, because no body = no death, and it would be awesome because she's such an interesting character and to get her own revenge.
- If there is an obligation for deaths, my pick would go to Leo, Dick, or Piz. Now, I don't hate any of these characters, but it would provide a general sense of pain and it could be heroic.
If Piz were to appear I think he should be fleshed out more, AND NO MORE ROMANCE BETWEEN HIM AND V just giving the character his own arc and romantic relationships, same with Leo. I like Piz more than Leo so I wouldn't want Piz to die but alas.
- I think Veronica Mars was more interesting when it focused on the differences between the rich, the normal class and the poor, and for people who felt like pariahs, so it would be nice a return to those themes.
-Ending: all plots solved with their obscurity behind and a new sun is rising on Neptune, Mars little children playing detectives because it's in their blood, and everyone is happy. A love letter for the dedicated fans.

rec post for @f-eef that got too long for its own good, and is now just. a general rec post i guess
(as of writing, today is the steam summer sale! writing this before that goes live, so no guarantee everything on here is on sale, but! most of these are older games, so it’s likely. keep them in mind~)
- Iconoclasts my absolute favourite game, ever (along with OFF, but shh), if you check out one game from this list, let it be this one. it’s a genuinely almost flawless package, with gorgeous pixel art, fun gameplay, a really good story, and a cast of characters i just. adore. it’s so so so good, and three years later, i’m still not over it
- The Binding of Isaac so there’s this genre called roguelikes, wherein the whole gimmick is that, when you die, you gotta start from the Very Beginning; and the ‘point’ is getting better and better at the game, until you win! it’s super easy to just, play a few runs (they generally don’t last that long!), and then go on with your day, so it’s a really fun game to just waste time in, if you just wanna chill with some game. and, in my personal opinion, Isaac is the best roguelike game, with so much stuff to unlock, a whole slew of items to play with, and so much content it’s kind of unreal. i definitely think the DLCs are worth picking up, but it’s mostly for more content than like. actually being necessary
- Terraria it’s minecraft, but 2D. unlike MC, it’s got a bit of guidance, which i personally prefer, with bosses to fight and such. an absolutely BLAST with other people too
- A Hat in Time a 3D platformer, ala Mario, that’s just. super charming. it’s also really fun to play. i haven’t actually played the DLC’s, since i played it way back, but i’ve heard good things about Nyakuza Metro, which does look super slick, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Slime Rancher you are a slime rancher. you ranch slimes. it’s honestly just wholesome as hell, and just exudes happy vibes. mostly for running around and collecting slimes, ngl
- The Messenger really funky retro game, wherein you play a ninja on a mission. it’s primary draw is definitely in its gameplay, but there’s a surprising amount of story for this kind of genre? i honestly really just like this one. it’s neat
- Underhero you play as a cute minion, who kind of like. managed to kill the hero. and whoops, guess you’re doing his job now? it’s got that undertale vibe, though i’d say it’s less polished than it. HOWEVER, it’s absolutely lovely and it’s climax is REALLY good
- Hatoful Boyfriend bird dating sim. trust me. the ‘secret’ finale route is just. *chef’s kiss* fantastic
- Night in the Woods if you don’t mind having a very poignant sad time, oh my god, i could not recommend NITW more. it perfectly captures that period when you’re done with school, and suddenly your whole life is stretching before you, and you feel so so fucking lost, and overwhelmed and pained with it. it’s just. so good. a sadness worth experiencing
- Shovel Knight another retro game! this one is, pretty much, the king of the genre, and for very good reasons. the first one (shovel of hope) doesn’t have much story, but the latter ones really add on it. they’re honestly just, really solid games! with funky knight characters!!!
- Hyper Light Drifter man, it’s just a masterpiece. everything about it is perfect. it’s been like, five years, and it’s still one of the very best indie games
- Tell Me Why it’s currently free for june! and it’s a story game! plus, if you like the genre, the devs got the ‘Life Is Strange’ serie(s) to delve into!
- Cat Quest honestly, i just really like this little game. the gameplay is SO much fun, and everything else is just. really charming :’)
- Yoku’s Island Express metroidvania, where you play as a dung-beetle post officer, and the gimmick is that it’s pinball-y! it’s really fun, and very cute and just an all around good time :)
- Owlboy you play as an owl boy! named Otus! and you can fly around, and there’s GORGEOUS pixel graphics, and a neat story, and just. the BEST cast of characters. it’s delightful
- Yuppie Psycho + Count Lucanor just gonna bundle these two together, because they’re both REALLY GOOD. YP is the newer one, and is therefore probably ‘the better one’, but i like them both a ton! they’re 2D horror, but i wouldn’t say they’re that spooky? though that might just be because they’re pixel games! you explore spooky place, and weird stuff happens around you. just a really fun time :)
- Angels of Death my FAVOURITE rpgmaker game, it’s main draw is, a 100%, the main characters and the relationship that develops between them. i just love it a whole lot, and it’s got that lil’ tinge of horror that i, personally, fucking adore. there’s actually an anime based on this, but i haven’t seen it myself!
- Celeste curve ball! it’s a 2D platformer! it’s really good, got a ton of accessibility features, and has like. the tightest gameplay- and, on top of that, surprisingly emotional story!
- Bastion putting Bastion here, because it’s actually the only one i’ve properly played, but you could probably buy any of the Supergiant Games, and come out satisfied. Bastion is the oldest of the bunch, and is definitely a bit less polished for it, but i personally adore it; the gameplay probably hasn’t aged that well, but i think the story and presentation more than makes up for it
- The Darkside Detective funny point and click adventure, with great wit, and a pair of characters i kind of simply adore. it’s main draw is definitely its humour
- Littlewood very wholesome and chill farming game, that feels more like an RPG than something like stardew valley- i’d not recommend it over SV, but if you want more of SV, Littlewood might scratch that itch!
- Pony Island + The Hex absolutely adore both of these, though if i had to rec only one, it’d probably be Pony Island? they’ve both got that undertale-off vibe, though Pony Island definitely leans harder into it. very interesting plays, both of them
- Oxenfree another horror-ish game! primarily story-focused, but oh boy, what a story! i’m a BIG fan of this game, and the sequel was recently announced too! definitely worth a look if you like ghost shenanigans
- Creature in the Well wasn’t a 100% sure if i should rec this, but beside the finale boss, i really enjoyed my time with this! it’s this weird pinball inspired hack and slash, with some amazing vibes
- Kindergarten 1 + 2 they’re just fun little games okay. the 2nd is much more fleshed out, but the 1st one is really fun too
- the Henry Stickmin collection I JUST... LIKE THESE GAMES A LOT... i think you can find the old versions somewhere on the internet, if you wanna check them out first? idk, they’re fun!
- LIMBO + INSIDE personally, i like INSIDE more, but both of these are classics, and also they’re made by a danish team, and i like them a WHOLE LOT
- The Final Station i could not tell you why i like this game as much as i do, but oh my god. i love this game? it’s got a dying world, neat pixel graphics, big zombie apocalypse vibes, and a weird little story
- Year Walk i love Year Walk :)
- Smile For Me if you liked undertale’s lovely cast of characters, oh boy, you’d likely LOVE this game! it’s really, really, fantastic, and the epilogue (not in the actual game lol) hit me right in the feels
- Pikuniku just a fun little game! there’s not really much there, in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a wonderful little play, one of those games that just sets out to give you a good time, and absolutely success. i like it a lot :’)
- A Short Hike wonderful game, where it’s more about exploring the island than actively finishing the game. it’s real wonderful
- ULTRAKILL ANOTHER CURVEBALL! no idea if you like FPS, but oh my god. ULTRAKILL is so fucking good. just an absolute blast to play. there’s a demo to check out, and i’d definitely recommend it, because if it’s a genre you might like, you’ll love this one (OH also it’s in early access, which means it’s not finished yet! personally, i don’t mind that, especially considering this is more gameplay focused, but ya’ know!)
- My Friend Pedro it’s honestly just really fun to play, and sometimes i still think about the implied lore, and go all !!!!
- Little Misfortune another point and click! this one is pretty short, and is set within the same universe as their other game, Fran Bow, which is much bigger, but idk. i like this one. it’s dark cute
- This Strange Realm of Mine i honestly dunno how to explain this one, because it’s kind of weird and a bit odd, but i really like it, in all its weird poetic glory. it’s neat!
- Donut County you’re a terrible racoon who’s ruined the whole city with holes. it’s great and i love it
- OneShot another ‘gives me undertale vibes’, though this one was in development before UT, if i recall correctly! it’s so good, and it’s got some fantastic meta bits, and i love Niko. i love Niko so much
- Inmost gorgeous vaguely spooky game with a neat story... my favourite genre
- Sayonara Wild Hearts i’d call this more of a spectacle than anything else, but oh my god. what a spectacle it is! the OST is amazing, everything about it just hits right, and even if you suck at the gameplay (which i did), it really doesn’t matter, in my opinion? it’s just great all around!
#ze.txt#the sale likely just went live so#steam sale#hope there's something here to your taste feef!#i honestly haven't been playing any 'real' games in. A WHILE? so all of these are older-ish#and there's a bunch of good new games out there!#but here's my little rec post of older games :')#that i have. actually played#i think inmost is the only one i never finished? plus TECHNICALLY oneshot since it got a BIG update after i played it but shhhh#also TECHNICALLY also ultrakill but that's in ea so it doesn't count okay#i just love ultrakill so much. i had to rec it. I HAD TO#also keep in mind some of these probably require a mouse!! i know ultrakill DEF does#but you might have one?? i usually play on my big pc so i. would not know#oh also DST does have a single player version which is very good also

i've been streaming THH every Friday on Twitch with my Manager Bunny, who is Japanese (like from Japan) (i say this so much it's almost a meme in itself, but i always want to make it clear to those who follow me for Silly Text Post Edits and don't know anything about me). we talk Localization stuff all the time.
anyway: Danganronpa has some funny glitches in trans/local, i agree. those are definitely the ones i highlight the most in DR1. on the other hand, we were just coming off of the Rice Ball Donut Era, so i forgive it. i think if it was localized today they'd probably have kept at least Idol for Sayaka, maybe even Doujin Author for Hifumi, but getting westerners to understand "gyaru" in any capacity is...tough. "gyaru" definitely tells you WAY more about Junko though. it packs a whole punch. i have more opinions on it but i won't get into that here!
Taka's i have mixed feelings about. Hiro's kind of eliminates the idea that he's (iirc) actually supposed to be kind of a shaman, so there's kind of some comedy removed there. good old Toki's backstory is just funny overall because of the way Romance Novels are considered total trash in the West
some good THH localizations IMO:
Hifumi's way of speaking in Japanese i'm told is "stereotypical samurai" which is often associated with "stereotypical weeb," though he has a sort of "UWU" voice. this was localized well and performed well by Lucien Dodge (Keebs! Yuma Kokohead!) as a proper, pseudo-academic professor-like mode (with an UWU tenor still)
Sakura talks like a princess in JP, and this is presented in her deliberate, careful dialogue in EN, though it removes a bit of comedy when she gets mad
Genocide Jack's nicknames for people (Cherry for Chihiro etc) are great and made my Manager Bunny laugh (she had only played unofficial translations before we played it together)
Manager Bunny also says our Celeste is better hands down, no contest
i'm biased and this is Super Minor but i love Hina as a nickname for Aoi. to me as a Westerner it tells us a lot about her athletic background (though the intent was probably to give Western people an "easier" name to say)
other game notes:
danganronpa 2 has some hilarious and charming translation glitches (Akane calling money "Benjamins", Hajime not being able to read stuff that isn't in English, Nagito pointing out what things mean in Japanese, Fuyuhiko spelling out his name for us)
UDG was the pinnacle of localization in DR (IMO)
and as much as everyone disliked Summer Camp as a game, its scenes were wonderfully localized - the person who came up with Miu's nicknames for DR1/2/UDG characters deserves the US presidency ("Bigcockoyeah" for Byakuya kills me EVERY SINGLE TIME)
if you want the real messed up one, i'm told it's v3. Manager says it's downright awful and undercuts a ton of characters, as well as making Angie...like that
apologies for hijacking your post with my autism again OP but you always post about awesome stuff that Hits My Hyperfixations!
I complained earlier about Byakuya's needlessly wordy title of Ultimate Heir Wealth-Inheriting Loinfruit, but I actually need to take a moment to complain about title localizations in DR1 some more.
Toko is the Ultimate Writing Prodigy.
Why not just say, "Ultimate Writer"? The word Prodigy isn't doing shit in that title. All Ultimates are prodigies. The whole concept of Ultimates or Super High-School Levels is to accredit child prodigies.
At least it's better than her Japanese title, the SHSL Literary Girl. Really? What even is that? Hifumi gets to be SHSL Doujin Author, and Toko's over here saddled with fucking Literary Girl. I'd be screaming down everyone's throat in every conversation too if I was the class literary girl.
Hina's Ultimate Swimming Pro title is fine but again I'm not sure why they didn't just say Swimmer?
Sayaka and Junko's title switches at least make a lot of sense. Sayaka is the SHSL Idol and Junko's the SHSL Gyaru, both of which are Japanese cultural references that could be lost on American audiences.
Idols and pop stars are close enough conceptually that it's an easy jump to make. Gyaru's a bit trickier to translate since so much of gyaru culture is about over-the-top westernized girly fashion; Fake tans and blonde dye jobs and long painted fake nails and the like. Over in the west that's just, like, fashion. So making her Ultimate Fashionista loses some of the intended artificiality of her persona but gets the point across.
There isn't really a Westernized concept for "purposefully appropriating a Western fashion aesthetic in order to stand out from everyone else". So the SHSL Gyaru was always doomed to be a little bit lost in translation.
Similar with Taka. Taka's the SHSL Public Morals Committee Member, which is another Japanese cultural reference. A public morals committee is a disciplinary organization made up of students whose job is to police the behavior of the other students.
"Ultimate Moral Compass" kinda works, but makes it sound like he's more just. Like. Incorruptibly Lawful Good, rather than the specific thing that he represents. Personally, I probably would have gone with Ultimate Hall Monitor.
Ultimate Clairvoyant is a suitable localization for SHSL Fortune Teller, if lacking a bit of specificity. SHSL Gang Leader became Ultimate Biker Gang Leader because while the bikes are fairly standard for Japanese gangs (to my understanding), there are different kinds of American gangs so the clarifier is helpful.
