i’ve noticed something a little silly throughout my transition in regards to the way people (mostly strangers but i’ll get into it) use pronouns for me. obviously, before i started testosterone and for several months into it, people who didn’t know my pronouns were using she/her because they (understandably) read me as a cisgender woman. that only started consistently changing this summer, when strangers would finally read me as male. i was also putting more effort into being masculine (binding more, wearing more masc clothes, etc) and less effort into being feminine. once i started feeling more comfortable with myself, i started being fem again, wearing more makeup and dressing in more fem outfits. and then people started using she/her for me again.

it’s not because i don’t pass. if i dress masculine or neutral people use masculine terms for me. even if i dress fem, most people will quickly correct themselves when they hear me speak. what i’m referencing is something i’ve noticed among queer people (and occasionally allies). several people i’ve talked to have told me that they were positive i was a trans woman until i mentioned something suggesting otherwise (surgeries, straight up saying i’m a trans guy, etc). and this got me thinking about why that might be the case.

i think that, despite how far we’ve come, there’s still a hesitancy to accept gender non-conforming individuals, regardless of their presentation. i’ve heard about masculine cis women being mistaken for trans men and feminine cis men being mistaken for trans women. and i think it’s great that a lot of people are trying to be accommodating of trans people, and i’m not saying these assumptions are inherently malicious. i just think that the community could do some self-examination as to why they automatically assume that anyone presenting masculine is a man or anyone presenting feminine is a woman. in my case, it feels like i have to prove myself as a man again the same way i did before i started testosterone.

that feeling doesn’t really change with people who do know me, too, unless we’re pretty close. for example, at my job we have a paper proudly displayed on the two door with all of the employees’ pronouns. and i think that’s great!! it’s really awesome that my job is accommodating and encouraging trans people (who make up the majority of the workforce at my job) to be able to be themselves. my pronouns being listed on there, though, have caused some people to make assumptions about my identity that are very obvious to me. i don’t even think they know they’re doing it, but here’s what i see: my pronouns are listed as he/they (because those are the pronouns i use). sometimes i come to work wearing really feminine makeup. i also have long hair. my coworkers see this and assume that i’m a trans woman. but my pronouns are he/they (obv gender doesnt always equal pronouns just bear with me). i prefer he/him in most situations (that’s not noted on the sheet), but since people assume i’m a trans woman, they default to they/them. which isn’t necessarily a bad thing and it’s not misgendering in my case. and i wouldn’t really care that much if they didn’t immediately switch to he/him upon learning i have a uterus (not for long though‼️). and i don’t think it’s something they even realize they’re doing!!!!!!!!!!!!! people have very specific ideas about gender ingrained in their minds, so when someone doesn’t fit those expectations, their biases are even more obvious.

bruce: bisexual and cis he/him but he sometimes wears makeup (it covers the bags and makes his eyes look pretty)

dick: pansexual and identifies as genderfluid, he uses all the pronouns (masculine but he wears whatever they feels like wearing and uses whatever pronouns she feels each day the batfam check via message or at breakfast each morning)

jason: bisexual with a preference to women and he identifies as male (transgender) he/him (he still likes crops, eyeliner and similar stuff)

cass: the badass lesbian part 2 (kate is part 1, cass is canonically one of the strongest batfam members she’s badass, this didn’t affect how i hc her as lesbian in anyway) and she doesnt understand gender but they use she/they cause they feel right (there was a moment where the fam tried to explain but she never got it. i say this cause cass was raised as a weapon to kill she wasn’t even taught how to read and write so i doubt anyone taught her about stereotypical gender norms or similar things)

tim: you know my boys a canon bisexual and he really doesnt care what pronouns you use for him or how they dress (“no there are cases to solve fuck gender”)

duke: questioning and identifies as cis he/him pronouns (he thought he likes girls but theres a few boys in his classes who are starting to look really attractive)

steph: sapphic and identifies as female (transgender) she/her pronouns(she sticks to masculine clothes tho because “they’re more comfy than skirts and they make my arms looks great tim”)

damian: demi, aroace, pan and he just doesn’t get society’s big deal with gender but he uses he/him pronouns(he doesn’t understand any appeal of sex or romance but he thinks he’d like a partner in the future but more queerplatonic. As for gender he doesn’t understand how someones gender affects them “what do you mean father hows the fact they’re male, female, genderqueer, or trans going to affect me when i fight them??” again raised to kill people without mercy while he may of had a little explaination on stereotypical gender norms and etc i doubt it was the main part of his education when he were with the League of Assassins)

edit: i had to further explain some of my points cause someone thought i was being bigoted and fetishising trans people cause of the wording ‘preferences women and transgender he/him’ i didnt mean he preferenes trans men those were my headcanons for his gender and his pronouns. if anyone finds any other problems like this please tell me i have no intent to bigot or fetishise anyone.

the name "choptop" came as a slight jab to his head injury, and he never really minded too much. eventually it just stuck.

nubbins doesn't identify with the trans label, but regardless "nubbins" is rat's chosen name. he got the idea once choptop came out and if rat's honest, he doesn't remember where he got nubbins from. just that it stuck and rat likes it :)

bubba's genderfluid! they dont really mind what pronouns you use for her, as long as its not it/its.

he loves sewing! they picked it up just after choptop left for vietnam, and has a bunch of little patches sewn into her apron even if it was never ripped

randy's gay and trans (ftm) and uses he/they pronouns! he realized after stu and billy came out in middle school, but randy waited til their freshman year.

Tomura isn’t one to want to go out on a date. He prefers staying at home, or with you, and just watching a movie, or playing a game. There are very few reasons that will push him to leave the comfort of his room, and even then, those are scarce and in between. You hardly push him to leave his room, and he’s thankful for that. Today, however, happens to be one of the few reasons that he wants to leave his room. A game that he had pre-ordered had finally released and you’ve been bugging him for a date, so both events just happen to collide together.

The game is in a plastic bag that is held carefully in his hands- in a rush to leave, he forgot his half-covering gloves- and he has you beside him. You still have yet to learn of his quirk and he doesn’t know when or if you’ll even learn of it. But right now, he doesn’t have to think of that, he can just walk with you through the mall, arms linked together as you pull him to the food court. It’s a nice day that the two of you get to spend together without the interruption of buffering wi-fi, or someone knocking against your door.

Throughout the walk in the mall, he can feel the eyes of people on both you and him. He isn’t sure if you’ve noticed it, or if you’re choosing to remain ignorant as you talk about a trip you took with friends. He isn’t sure why people are staring at the both of you. He doesn’t have a mutation quirk, so he doesn’t really understand why people are staring. And even if he did, it’s a world full of quirks, where people with mutations have existed for a long while. Perhaps it’s just that he looks… odd, for lack of a better word. He’s never cared too much about his appearance, but even so, with all the eyes on him, he can start to feel his skin crawl.

Sensei has told him time and time again, that the outside world is something he shouldn't fret over. And he listens. He’s been told how he’s much better than them. He knows that he’s much better than them. It doesn’t take away the itch, but it certainly helps him ignore the stares of people who walk past the two of you. Plus, he isn't going to cause a scene in such a heavily populated area. And certainly, not in front of you. No one has approached either of you, and for now, that’s enough to prevent him from ruining the small date that you both are on.

His skin burns. Small little pinpricks that bit against him, and make him not-so-subtle scratch and tug at his own skin. He can control the more incessant scratching, the one where he wants to claw his hands down his throat, but he worries that he’ll activate his quirk by accident. He keeps his hands away from you, balled up into fists that are shoved into his sweater pockets as you pull him to a small ice-cream shop. He whispers to you to order for him- he’ll take whatever it is- and he goes to sit down, kicking his seat outwards and sitting with his hands clenched into fists. The scratching has begun to grow worse and his sweater now scratches and pulls against his skin.

When you sit in front of him, a soft purple ice-cream for you, and a more yellowed one for him, he mumbles a thanks and begins to eat it, wanting to finish so the two of you can leave. You eat in silence and when you put your spoon down, you ask him if it were the people that’s making his tic so much more worse. Tic? Ah, that’s right, that’s the excuse that he told you on why he scratched so much. He’s actually surprised that you picked up on the people staring- you really were just playing ignorant. He tells you to ignore it, to just hurry up and finish and he bits on the plastic spoon when you frown.

With your cup in your hand, you stand up, mumbling about going to get more napkins, and he’s left watching you walk away. He bites on the spoon, tearing off small plastic bits and spitting them out to the floor. You have the napkins in your hand and just as you’re about to walk back to him, people stop you. His eyes narrow and he can tell by the way that you furrow your brows and sneer, that they aren’t friends. He watches, and slowly, his breath quickens, his hands wrapping around the styrofoam cup until nothing is in his hands. He stands up, his hand sticky and then he sees you throw your cup at the people, your words drowned out by the noise, until it quiets down, attention all on you now. He can’t make out the words, but that isn’t important.

You both meet each other halfway, the game bag held carefully and your hands pulling on his wrist- he swore that he could have stopped breathing with how close you were to his hand- and you press your lips against his. You turn on your heel and give a crude gesture to the people who stand with ice cream coating their clothes. He’s left staring as you pull him out of the mall, rushing into your car to go home.

The way home is silent, with music playing lightly on the stereo. It isn’t awkward, but rather nice, as he stares out the window, watching the cars fall behind as you race home. Once at your place, the door is locked and you’re left pacing back and forth in your living room. He watches from the couch with an almost bored expression as you go on about how people can still be so immature about looks when there is a world full of quirks. He smiles at the sentence as has calmed enough to not feel the burning desire to scratch, but rather just chew at his bottom lip.

His eyes meet yours and he sees your attitude fade, watching as your shoulders rest as if the weight had been lifted off. You walk towards him, and your hand cups the side of his face and he watches you with half-lidded eyes. Tomura finds it funny how much you care for his well-being, how you ask if he’s okay, how you wrap your other hand around his neck and play with the ends of his hair. It’s one of the few times that he feels more calm than sick and twisted. It doesn’t take long for you to go on about what you like about him- his determination, the way he lights up when speaking about an interest, how he always finds time to listen and talk with you during his schedule. Not wanting to hear more, he nods and presses his kiss against yours; different than the one you gave him, lighter, almost as if it were a memory that were pressed against you, and when he pulls away, he gives your a short nod and tells you thank you, quietly adding “for the ice cream” at the end.

So its Pride Month! And as a proud member of the alphabet mafia I wanna give my opinion on all the Danganronpa characters' sexualities! So let's go, starting with THH!

Trigger Happy Havoc

Makoto Naegi- Pansexual. I'm under the belief all protags are Pan. Transgender(ftm). So I have this whole hc that the reason his door was jammed was that the lock was quickly removed when they found out SHE was actually a HE and I just like the hc lol.

Sayaka Maizono- Straight. I just think she has a big thing for Makoto, but other than that she cares for her career more than a relationship.

Leon Kuwata- Bisexual, heavy female leaning. I ship him with Hiro, but honestly this fucker would probably take forever to admit he likes guys.

Chihiro Fukisaki- Gay. Dont really have a reasoning. Just my opinion lol

Mondo Oowada- Bisexual. He mentions trying to confess to girls, but come on. This guy is fruity for Taka.

Gundham Tanaka- Bisexual. He obviously has a thing for Sonia, and in a perfect world(i.e. my perfect world) he would be holding hands with Kazuichi daily. Speaking of holding hands he basically breaks Hajime's in the FTEs. Gay 🥰

Nagito Komaeda- Gay. He's very obviously gay coded, mostly towards Hajime though I dont personally ship that.

Chiaki Nanami- Pansexual. She loves everyone equally. Honestly she probably doesnt put too much work on her labels and would probably go by any pronouns as well, so maybe Gender Fluid?

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu- Bisexual. Like Leon I think it would take him a while to accept he likes guys, and he probably leans towards girls more, but he's definitely fruity lol.

Sonia Nevermind- Pansexual. Our girl fucks. She dont care who, she just FUCKS. 🤣 But seriously, I think she just sees love as love. As she should.

Kazuichi Souda- Gay. Transgender, (ftm). He's so very closeted, so badly even he doesnt recognize it. He probably even has internalized homophobia, probably because of his father. Not sure why I hc him as trans, I just think it fits.

Akane Owari- Straight. She probably doesnt think about it much. All she knows is she likes fighting, meat, and Coach Nekomaru.

Shuichi Saihara- Pansexual, Transgender(ftm). Its. THE RULE. I didnt make it. Sue me. Also fuck it I dunno I think it fits with his whole character if he were trans. Hard to explain lol

Rantaro Amami- Biromantic, Asexual. I admittedly dont know much about Rantaro, but from what I do know, I think he would fit well with just about anyone. I dont have much of a reason for him being Ace.

Kaede Akamatsu- Pansexual. She was the protagonist first, so the rule still applies lol. But even beyond that it just fits her. Hard to explain, it just seems like it works.

Ryoma Hoshi- Straight, Asexual. I know on my ship list I said I shipped him with Gonta, but theres a reason that ship was so low. I heavily think Ryoma is straight. It's just the vibe I get from him. Maybe hes bi curious, but idk. As for the ace bit, it's really dark. I hc it's because of the trauma he endured during prison.

Kirumi Tojo- Lesbian. Idk I look at her and I think "Lesbian power. Powerful wlw moments." Dont ask me my brain just does things.

Angie Yonaga- Pansexual. She always seemed like she was flirting with Himiko and lowkey Tenko, and in the FTEs she straight up wants to get married to Shuichi so like....I dunno what you want me to say.

Tenko Chabashira- Lesbian. Literally no explanation needed.

Korekiyo Shinguji- Pansexual. Putting aside the....obvious....he finds all of humanity beautiful, so he most likely doesnt have a preference when it comes to choosing a partner. Just like with Mukuro we pretend that entire plotline never happened.

Miu Iruma- Pansexual. I see her as pretty open to everyone....Yeah. That's all I got.

Gonta Gokuharu- Bi-curious. Honestly I dont think Gonta knows what he is himself. He probably hasnt given it too much thought, if hes given it any. The best I can think of is bi-curious, assuming hes currently exploring his sexuality.

Kokichi Ouma- Gay. I dont ship him with anyone cause I personally think he'd be a bad partner to anyone he got with based off of his personality, but yeah. He gay lmao.

I also think they just love everyone, and for the ace bit, unfortunately, robots probably dont have dicks 😔 Even if they did, I dont think he would be very interested in sex.

Himiko Yumeno- Lesbian. Despite her treatment of Tenko, her reaction at the end of chapter 3 shows she cared for her, and Angie. She probably loved them both, so, lesbian for sure.

Maki Harukawa- Straight. Kaito was probably her first ever crush, so I doubt she ever had a chance to feel out if she was anything other than straight. Even disregarding that, I dont think she'd be anything else.

aNyWaY sooo a few days ago i bought a chest binder on amazon and not even a day after it arrived, my parents sat me down and asked me why i bought it behind their backs. cause i never told them i bought it in the first place. they ended up practically forcing me to come out to them because there was no other way i couldve gotten out of the situation, and the reactions i got wheerrreeee mixed to say the least. it could've been much worse, but it felt like it couldve gone so muhc better. my mom started crying and said that she'll accept me no matter "whether you have short hair, long hair, or whatever you wear" which like.... lowkey feels transphobic to me??? like being trans (in my opinion) is hardly ever about what you wear or what you look like, wear whatever the hell you want whether its feminine or masc or whatever. all that matters is what your comfortable with yourself yk? it just kinda feels like she has this incredibly shallow understanding of what being trans is and doesnt even want to try to learn more about it. she was also more concerned about the fact that i didnt tell them before hand which in my opinion isnt something i have to do. just because i didnt come to them about it doesnt mean i dont trust them. she said that she doesnt think she'll be able to use my preferred name and pronouns too soo thAnKs mOm. my dad on the other hand was much more understanding, but still said stuff like "your young" and "your feeling lots of different emotions right now" and my mom said similar things as well. bUUuUut it kinda gets a bit worse... the day after all of this happened, for the entire day, my mom completely ignored me, not even bothering to look me in the eye or even speak to me. while she and my younger brother had a full conversation about his day when i got back from school, she never said a word to me. she didnt even talk to me for the rest of the day until recently where she said "good night". IS THAT IT- its honestly like she doesn't care that she practically ghosted me the entire day. id probably understand if she had a rough day and didnt feel like talking, but she was just fine talking to my brother, so now im wondering if she's transphobic. and ignoring someone let alone her own kid the whole day is something thats really really not like her usual self, so yeah. tbh, i had a gut feeling that she had at the very least internalized transphobia, so now i really wish that i had gotten to test the waters first but instead i was flung straight into the deep end of the pool. metaphorically. although, im not completely sure how this will all play out... in the meantime though, thank you so much for listening kokichi~~ <333 can i have some comfort cuddles please? 👉👈
