Maybe tomorrow he'd bring his book here, and keep the cats company while he reads. Would they like it if he read it out loud?
Oh lord, the crazy cat lady energy must be rubbing off on him already.
The cats certainly are. He looks down at his black attire now speckled with cat hair, and sighs. He should have asked Steph where the lint roller was before she left. With great effort, he stands up from the comfy couch, vowing to himself to only do a cursory search with no unnecessary peeking.
The entrance seems like an obvious start since people like to de-hair themselves before leaving the house. The dresser next to the door is cluttered with typical things - sunglasses, hand lotion, chapstick, some loose change, and jewelry. No roller in sight. So he goes to the kitchen instead, because kitchen is where everything goes. The cats are watching him curiously from their chosen perches around the house.
"Stop it. This is all your fault."
He finally finds what he's looking for on a windowsill next to a dead fly. He starts cleaning his clothes there, next to the fridge, and its colorful display catches his attention.
There's an Ewok magnet that looks handmade, holding up a birthday card, and a few holiday photos, capturing smiling people in swimming costumes. Some of them look older, like the photo of a kid in a wizard robe, or a pair of bloodied-up teenagers in sailor costumes, which must be a very obscure reference because Eddie hasn't seen it at any costume party before.
The caption under the photo reads BFF but someone added a circle of smaller F's all around the photo, turning them into a frame. Which, if Eddie's connecting the dots correctly, would imply that it's Robin and Steph. The quality isn't the best, but at first glance, he's assumed it must be a family member, maybe a brother, but he remembers her saying she's an only child.
He tracks the other photos, but most of them are new, of the Steph he already knows. There might be more around the apartment, though.
But he's already rolled his shirt and he'll be back tomorrow morning anyway, so he quickly works on his pants' legs, gives the cats a wave, and leaves.
While walking back, he's apparently so lost in his thoughts, he gets startled by his own uncle.
"The cats still alive?"
"Do you want?! Me?! To die?!" Eddie screeches, eyes wide and a hand on his heart, the other holding him upright against the wall. "Why the fuck are you sitting there in the dark?!"
Wayne looks pointedly at the lamp next to him, then to his nephew. Aside from his reading nook in the corner though, the living room has no other light sources right now, but Eddie just throws his hands in defeat, deciding not to argue. Especially not when his uncle finally folded and was reading Blade Runner.
"Must have been thinking some guilty thoughts, huh?"
"Excuse me?" Eddie takes a step back from his course towards the kitchen. His uncle was flipping a page in his book, clearly not reading but not looking up from it either.
"To get scared like that. Did you do something bad, son?" He finally looks up, and Eddie doesn't like it. He looks exactly like his friends just before teasing him about something. "Saw something you shouldn't have?"
Eddie folds his arms and sticks his nose up, hoping the evening darkness hides his warming cheeks.
"I don't know what kind of panty raiding you do up there, but I'm not a pervert."
"Panty riding, huh?" Wayne raises his eyebrows in interest. "That what you boys do in college these days?"
"Do you want a sandwich? Some tea maybe?" Eddie has already turned his back to him and is switching the light on in the kitchen. "And the cats are fine, thanks for asking!"
"Yes and yes. Thank you!"
Eddie prepares them sandwiches and teas and grabs his own book so they can read in silence waiting for the evening news. It's nice to have this, a break from busy and loud college life, just sharing silence and love for books with his uncle.
That is, of course, until Wayne looks at his watch and puts the book down to exchange it for a remote. Eddie likes to keep his nose in the book until the news become too distracting or he catches something interesting being reported on. His uncle has other plans for him this time.
"You know it's alright to like her, right?"
Eddie lowers his book, slightly incredulous that Wayne is still talking about it. He looks at him with wide eyes.
"You really want me to fuck your neighbor, huh?"
Finally, his uncle gets a taste of his own medicine, almost choking on the tea that he unfortunately decided to sip on at that moment. Eddie: one, Wayne: zero.
But later, the score evened out again, as all Eddie could think of while trying to sleep were the pictures on the fridge, and plowing his uncle's neighbor into her mattress until she screamed.
The next morning, with not enough sleep under his belt, Eddie skips two sets at a time, because he totally absolutely royally forgot about the fucking plant.
He fumbles with the keys, can hear the inquisitive meows on the other side of the door, and once he's in he takes a beeline to the kitchen, ignoring the little creatures following him like they have been starving on the streets and he was a fresh batch of tuna factory waste.
The plant looks normal, the same as it did 24 hours ago, and he waters it as per instructions while trying not to even brush its leaves because he truly believes his touch might kill it. His track record with plants indicates so. Only then does he turn to the meowing bunch at his feet.
"Hello, little demons. Time to feast."
The cats are fed, their mouths making unpleasant wet noises against the equally wet food, and Eddie has a moment to take a curious walk around the place, in search of more photos.
He finds a wedding photo, with Steph in a pink dress and stunning make up dancing with a man with curly hair. There's one from a barbecue, where Steph is being hugged by a tall man with a mustache. She's wearing jean shorts and a sweater in this one, and somehow, looks a bit off. It looks older than the wedding one.
But a true treasure chest is the huge frame he finds above a small bookcase.
It's a collage titled 'The fucking journey' that seems to be a collection of Polaroids from a multitude of workplaces, with the same two people present. Year after year, one job after another, until they got where they are today.
It starts with a 1983 and the sailor costumes he's already seen. They are less bruised and more tired in this one. Knowing where to start, Eddie's eyes track from one photo to another, observing Stephanie's features, her wardrobe, and her hair change until she becomes the woman she is today.
There was no boy in that photo on the fridge. It's always been her. Growing into herself.
Is this what his uncle was talking about? Well, not talking, but being annoyingly vague about it, like he wasn't sure what he was talking about himself.
Fear not, Uncle Wayne. Eddie's going to pick up every pamphlet and every zine he can put his hands on, to educate them both about who their neighbor is, how to navigate the topic and respect her the way she deserves.

steph "dad"
Okay, an idea came up. And for some context, here's my explanatory text: Some time ago, I saw an AU where Dani/Elli was Jason's "mother," the one who died of an overdose, if I remember correctly (sorry, I'm bad with names unless I use them a lot). Idea -> So, recently, I started wondering if Danny was Steph's mom's ex, or even Steph's biological father, but due to several ghosts and Team Phantom, they managed to seal that information, so no one will ever know. This is mainly as a protective measure for the two of them, due to Danny's enemies, whether magical, scientific, supernatural, or mortal. But I imagine, in an end-of-reality-type emergency situation, Constantin decides to swear at the hornet's nest of protections Steph has in place to see if they get lucky, and whatever happens because of that, he decides to save reality's ass, including them. which happens but now the entire bat clan has many questions, few answers and Constantin has magical handcuffs that prevent him from using magic so he won't be able to escape said interrogation.

CW: Child abuse, parentification, cursing, the usual
Steph wasn’t too big on the idea of parents who try to kill their kids. Her dad had tried and failed, she sure as hell wasn’t gonna give him another chance. With that said, she wasn’t big on Bruce. He tried and almost succeeded in killing Jason. Like twice, if she remembered correctly. It wasn’t her place to forgive him, so she never did. Jason seemed okay with him now, so she was civil.
That’s not to say she liked Jason either. He’d tried to kill her ex-boyfriend a few times. At least Bruce was paying for her college and apartment, Jason was just shitty.
But then Cass stumbled through the window of their apartment with tears in her eyes. There were a few things wrong with that. For one, Cass didn’t stumble. All of her movements were calculated and precise. For two, she was crying. Not to say that Cass can’t cry, she’s soft around the people she likes, but it’s rare to see. Steph rushed over to her to comfort her. Cass fell into her arms as Steph guided them to the couch. She ran a thumb across Cass’s wet cheek, wiping away her tears.
“Cass, babe? What’s wrong?”
Cass hiccupped and buried her face in Steph’s chest. “Tim,” she choked out. “Tim and Bruce… hurting him..”
Steph’s breath hitched. Something was wrong with Tim and Bruce, someone was hurt. Hurt enough to make Cass break up like this. They got hurt all the time, so what happened? Was someone about to die? “Okay. Okay, babe, I’m gonna need more info than that. But not right now. Let’s calm down first, yeah?”
Cass rubbed her eyes and pulled away. “Yes.”
Okay, Steph, she thought to herself, be a good girlfriend, do something. “Do you want some water?”
Cass nodded, and Steph carefully peeled herself away from the couch and into their kitchen. Assessment. Tim and Bruce were hurt. Someone was hurting them. If it were a field injury, she would’ve been informed already in their group message. That way, they could reroute patrols until the injured parties were ready to go back. And with Cass’s reaction, that injury would have to be near fatal. So that ruled out anything physical, which left mental. Or maybe this was a magic thing? Had they been cursed and it was something awful? A mental thing seemed unlikely, considering this was Tim and Bruce they were talking about. They were both brick walls of human beings. Well, that wasn’t fair. Tim was a pretty good boyfriend emotionally. Much better than the one before, at least.
She walked back to the couch with a cup of water and handed it to Cass, who downed it much too quickly. Steph was almost worried she’d choke. Cass put the cup on the coffee table and turned to Steph. She’d stopped crying, but her cheeks were still tear-stained. She took a breath and began to sign.
‘I went to Jason’s today,’ she started.
“Oh, fuck, what did he do this time?” It was always Jason, wasn’t it? It made sense, he made no effort to hide his disdain for Tim or Bruce. Even if they were civil now, catching Jason on a bad day was probably enough to set him off. But what did he do?
‘Nothing,’ Cass answered. ‘We talked. He…’ Her hands faltered. Another thing that rarely happened. ‘He explained to me that B was… is abusing Tim. Tim’s been hurting because of him, and I knew, and I did nothing. He was hurting, and I could’ve helped.’
Steph was not a fan of Bruce Wayne. She never had been and probably never would be. She still has nightmares from when he broke into her house to interrogate her father when she was eight. She still has nightmares about Black Mask. She has a lot of nightmares, stemming from simply knowing Bruce Wayne. But she knew him. And she knew that he cared about his kids. In a way, she’d never understand, but he cared. There were times when she doubted it, when they shouted at each other, when he got violent. When he tried to kill Jason. On Tim’s 16th birthday.
There was no doubt in her mind that he was a bad parent, but an abusive one? Well… By all technical accounts, yes, but that was because of the hero work. No good parent would let their children be vigilantes. That could be somewhat excused. But he always liked Tim. They fought the least, he actually listened to Tim. He didn’t listen to anyone. She was a little jealous of that. And she really wanted to believe Cass, because why wouldn’t she, but
“Like how, like what kind of abuse?”
‘Emotional. Not like the usual emotional abuse, it’s different. He makes T pretend to be his father. He makes T comfort him. J said he groomed him.’
Steph grimaced. Because what the fuck. Bruce groomed somebody? Bruce groomed Tim? Had he been doing it the whole time, like even when they were still together? Like she knew he wasn’t a great person, but what the hell? She really didn’t want to be civil with him anymore. She didn’t even want him to pay for her stuff anymore. And it was to make Tim “comfort” him? What did that even mean?
“Oh, ew… It’s not like… It’s not sexual, is it?”
‘I don’t believe so.’
Okay good. Well, not good, but better. She thought. Was it better that it wasn’t sexual? She wasn’t one to play trauma olympics; she didn’t know. But this still wasn’t good, and like, where does one go from here?
“So… what do we do? Are we gonna kill Bruce or something? Because he’s Batman, and there’s like too many logistical issues with that, but I wouldn’t be opposed. Like I have a plan to do it.”
She did. Because she hated him. And writing in detail how you’d kill somebody, and then burning that paper was cheaper than therapy. Which Bruce also probably would’ve paid for if she asked him.
Cass shook her head. ‘Intervention. For T, not B. We’re going to get him out of the manor and away from B. I don’t know where yet, but somewhere B can’t hurt him.’
Okay… that sounded good.
“But, like… what should we do about B? Break his legs or something? Or fuck with him a bit, mentally. Like he did to Tim. Or steal his spleen? Or cut his neck open. Like he’s done a lot of shit to us that he hasn’t been called out.” Cass frowned. “I’m being serious, you know how much I fucking hate the guy. If he wasn’t literally putting me through school and wasn’t you and Tim’s dad, I would’ve cut him out ages ago. And it’s not like we need him, specifically, as Batman anymore. Dick was an awsome Batman, that uber religious guy would’ve been pretty good if he wasn’t going through psychosis at the time. Hell, you’d be a great Batman, Cass! We don’t need Bruce, we could totally kill him or something!”
Cass put a hand on Steph’s cheek, stopping her mid-rant. Steph felt hot, angry. She could tell her face was red, and she hated it. She felt pathetic all of a sudden. Taking a deep breath, she wrapped an arm around Cass and pulled her closer.
“‘M sorry, Cass. Are you okay? He is your dad too, you probably don’t want to hear me fantasizing about killing him.”
Cass wrapped her arms around Steph in return. “It’s okay. Good to be angry. Means you care.”
“Of course I care! Even if I didn’t have the relationship with Tim that I did, he’s your brother. I’m gonna care.” She chewed on the inside of her cheek. “But seriously, what the hell? Dude, I was dating Tim forever, and I never noticed? I feel like such a piece of shit. And, like, I always knew there was something weird about them because, like, Tim always complained about the weirdest things. There was this one time for like a week straight, all he could talk about was how he yelled at Bruce until he had to literally drag him to the shower. I thought he was like exaggerating, but I guess not.” She leaned back, lying on the couch and pulling Cass on top of her. “And I guess I should’ve noticed when I was Robin, at least. Because Bruce was super weird about Tim then, too. He kept asking me super weird questions about him.”
A memory came to mind of when she came to the cave after school once. Back when she was still training. Bruce was at the batcomputer, looking at one of the small screens. She thought nothing of it at first, seeing it as a moment to pop up behind him to surprise him. It probably wouldn’t work, but if it did, it would prove she was good at stealth. Quietly, Steph put her backpack down and started walking as Bruce had taught her. Toes down first, lower yourself slowly with each step. That way, you made no noise when you walked. It took her a while to perfect, but she was getting good now.
She was a few feet behind him when she heard Tim’s voice, clear as day. “It’s okay. You’ll be alright, bud,” it cooed.
Steph frowned. She still hadn’t forgiven him for the whole “ kissing another girl” thing yet, and she certainly didn’t want to be reminded of who Bruce wanted her to replace right now. She started to walk again, but she must’ve misstepped because Bruce spun around so fast she thought his head might fall off.
“Stephine,” he frowned. Deep and disappointed, like she’d done something wrong by simply existing. Steph fought the urge to roll her eyes.
“What? I was trying to sneak up on you, and I got pretty close. That’s praiseworthy, right?”
Bruce closed the tab he was on. Steph peeked over his shoulder to see some security footage of the cave, but it was gone before she got a serious look.
“I suppose,” he said. “But Tim’s been able to sneak up on me since he was far younger. You’ll have to do better than “pretty close.””
In the present, Steph’s arms tightened around Cass.
“What… what exactly are like, the details? Like, what do you mean he makes Tim act like his dad? It’s for comfort, so like… what does that entail?”
Cass made a small sound and pushed herself away to sign. Steph should’ve expected that; Cass didn’t even like talking on good days, but she still missed the weight and warmth.
‘B is making Tim pretend to be his father. Helps him take care of himself. He calls him dad, and T calls him pet names. T scolds him and comforts him. Like a dad. Like what B does for Dami. Or a little different, Dami doesn’t really like physical affection.’
Oh, ew ew ew. “So he like makes Tim give him physical affection when he feels sad or whatever?” Cass nodded. Steph’s stomach turned. That explained what she heard in the cave that day. She didn’t want to imagine Tim cooing at Bruce of all people. Just ew! “Cass, that’s so fucking gross, oh my God.” She buried her face in her hands. “That’s so fucking gross. Holy shit, I wanna kill Bruce. How many hired guns do we know? Like enough, right? We don’t even need one, I could do it myself. I told you I had a plan. It’d take a little bit, the whole thing’s long-winded, so it’s not brought back to me.”
It also involved cozying up to a few rouges while avoiding the ones that had a crush on Batman, which was a surprising number. The bare bones basics of the plan were to overwhelm him, get him captured by one of the many rouges with a grudge, torture him for a little bit, then drop him dead in the middle of some street after putting acid in his cowl. That way, if it were taken off, no one would know it was Bruce Wayne. She burned the paper for a reason, though; it was one of her darker thoughts. She didn’t really wanna kill anyone, but she’d never hated Bruce more in this moment. She dragged her hands down her face and looked at the ceiling.
“I won’t do it. Even if I wanted to, I don’t think I could.” She turned to Cass. “I’m sorry, Cass. ‘M sorry your dad’s such a piece of shit. Are you okay?”
Cass started to nod, but her movements stuttered, and she shook her head instead. “No…”
“Okay.” Steph pulled her back into a hug, letting Cass bury her face in Steph’s chest.
It took a little while for the couple to travel to bed. Steph was adamantly against sleeping on the couch, it wasn’t great for the back. She never fell asleep though. She just stared at the wall and listened to Cass’ soft sleeping breaths. She debated killing Bruce again. She could, by all means. And could get away with it. But it’d eat her alive. There wouldn’t be a day that went by that she didn't hate herself. As much as she hated it, Bruce was right to not want them to kill. It’d take a toll she wasn’t ready to pay. None of them felt ready to pay it. She knew even Jason, for all his big talk, got uncomfortable when someone reminded him about all, or at least some of, the lives he took. The ones that didn’t deserve it. She knew it had destroyed Damian developmentally to the point he couldn’t go to school for a while after he showed up. It was one of the rare things Cass cried on her shoulder about. It had wrecked her. So the rule was one of the only things she respected Bruce for.
And she wanted to kill him. And it could plausibly be quick if she went over to the manor right now. It wouldn’t be easy; you don’t just kill Batman, but that’s why she had a plan. It wouldn’t change what’s happened to Tim. Steph’s arms tightened around Cass. Cass, who might hate her forever if she did. Or maybe she wouldn’t. She’d understand, right? Would that matter? Of course, it would, but Tim mattered too. Steph should stage a kidnapping. Steal him away, maybe take him to San Francisco. They could live in Titans Tower if they needed to. But no, Bruce funded that too. Maybe they could just hide away in Alaska until Bruce finally keeled over. That wouldn’t work either. Tim was a workaholic to the core, he’d fight his way back to Gotham if he had to.
Steph nuzzled her face into the top of Cass’s head and sighed. No solutions tonight. She’d come up with something better than Jason’s intervention idea, maybe, probably, probably not. Tim was so… Tim. If an intervention was the only way to get to him, then she’d join, but surely there was something else. If there were, she’d try it. But he responded well to logic and evidence. If there was a fact, he’d believe it even if it destroyed him. Even if it was about himself.
Damian and Thomas were the two youngest in the manor. Damian supposed there should be some sort of kinship between them, but they were vastly different people. Their motivations were different. Damian preferred visual arts while Thomas was a writer. Damian patrolled at night, and Thomas in the day. There was a two-year difference between them. They never spent much time together. Thomas was in high school and Damian in middle school.
Speaking of which, that's where they were going. Because of Signal, Thomas primarily took classes online, but he needed to take tests in person. This was one of those days. They were eating lunch together now, which was nice. Damian ate alone most days after using his entire social battery in class. They were sitting quietly for the most part while Thomas looked over his notes for his next test, but eventually, he broke the silence.
“Damian… what's gonna happen to us?”
Damian looked up from his sketchbook. “Hm?”
“Like if this gets to the point we have to be taken away from Bruce. What's gonna happen? I don't- I can't go back into the system.”
Damian hadn’t thought about that. The thought hadn't even crossed his mind. Who would they go to? Timothy was old enough to live alone without problems if he emancipated himself, and he would be 18 in just over nine months, but Damian and Thomas couldn't.
“Richard,” Damian said finally. “We could live with Richard.”
Thomas almost scoffed. “And move to Bludhaven? I mean, maybe you could, but even if I wanted to, does Dick even have the ability to house both of us? Does he even want to live with me?”
Damian's brow creased. “I do suppose our night activities would be more difficult if we moved. But what do you mean? Why wouldn't Richard want to live with you?”
Thomas shifted in his seat. “I mean, you know… Me and Dick aren’t that close. It’d be like if you moved in with him right after meeting him for the first time.”
Damian frowned. “I moved in with Richard quite soon after we met. When Father was stuck in the time stream.”
Thomas cringed a little. “Oh, yeah, sorry.”
“No need to apologize. I just don’t see your point.”
“The point is, I’m not as close to any of you. Like you guys are all siblings, and I just moved in a few months ago.”
Now that confused Damian. “If you’re worried about the legality of the matter, Richard wasn’t officially adopted until he was an adult. Timothy was also adopted much later either. The paperwork has little to do with our relationship.”
“I’m not talking about the paperwork, Damian. And I don’t want to be adopted anyway, I’m waiting for my parents to get better. I’m just saying we’re not that close. I’m not your brother.”
Damian hummed. He’d said the same thing about Timothy when they first met. And Todd and Richard, but they were his siblings all the same. He didn’t have siblings at first; he does now, and he’d come to appreciate them. Thomas was one of them. “If you say so. But I doubt Richard would have any qualms with taking us both in. He also had his issues with the foster care system.”
Thomas blinked in surprise. “Oh yeah. He did, didn’t he?”
“But you’re right, moving to Bludhaven wouldn’t work. Todd is legally dead, and he wouldn’t be a very good guardian anyway. That leaves us with Cain and Gordon.”
“The commissioner?”
Damian rolled his eyes. “Barbra.”
“We could run into some problems with that. Cause she’s in a wheelchair, but we’re old enough that it might not really matter.”
“And living with Cain and Brown may become a problem if Father stops paying for their apartment.”
“Could they even keep four people in their apartment? I think it’s like one bedroom.”
“Yes, that wouldn’t work unless they moved. Perhaps Timothy could pay for their new apartment. He is the Wayne Enterprises CEO now. He makes more than enough money to pay for everything.”
“Is it cool to ask Tim for money right now, though? We’re like, about to disrupt his life in a major way, the least we could do is get money somewhere else.”
“Yes, well, no one else in our family is actually rich. They’re all mooching off Father.” That wasn’t true, though, was it? “No. My mother is also rich.”
“Who, Talia? Isn’t she like… in the League? Is that who we want to get our money from?”
“She is not anymore. Not exactly. I don’t actually… It’s complicated. And we may have to if we have no other choice.” Was his mother with the League right now? He hadn’t talked to her in a while, it was unclear. Their alliances were always changing, it was annoying.
“Well, that’s good, I guess.”
Damian grimaced. “I hope we won’t have to share a room.”
“Yeah, for real. I couldn’t imagine sharing a room with you,” Thomas teased.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I mean, you don’t seem like the easiest going roommate. You seem like the type to have an extra loud alarm clock that goes off at sunrise.”
Damian scoffed. “Well, you hardly seem like an easy roommate yourself. And why wouldn’t you wake up at sunrise, Mr. Day Bat? Don’t tell me you don’t prepare before patrol.”
“I prepare! And I wake up at the perfectly reasonable time. 6:30. 5:30 if I sleep at the manor.”
“Well, I don’t wake up until 7:30. If we were to share a room, I expect you to wake up at the same time. I think you’d need the extra beauty sleep too.”
“Oh, ha ha. Just because I’m not perfectly clear-skinned and pale like the rest of you freaky white people, doesn’t mean I’m not the hottest person in that house.”
“I’m not white. Neither Cassandra nor Richard. And she’s much more beautiful than you.”
Thomas rolled his eyes. “That doesn’t count, Cass is like a literal angel. So I’m the best looking out of the guys at least.”
“Only because Richard doesn’t live with us. And don’t try to bring up Timothy, everyone looks better than him. Without makeup, he looks half-dead.”
“Hmph. Well, whatever. Point is, I wake up at a very reasonable time.” Thomas paused. “But now that I’m thinking about it, I think Babs is our best shot. She can make a super good case for herself. She has a house and a full-time job, and you’ve known her for a while.”
“Does Gordon even know what’s going on? Has anyone told her?”
“I mean… she’s O, she knows everything. She has to, right?”
Damian shook his head. “Not exactly. She isn’t constantly monitoring everything, she only looks when we ask or something is needed. It’s not as if she’s stalking us.”
Thomas gaped at him. “Shouldn’t someone tell her? Like soon? Like before we hold an intervention where we need evidence, like video evidence?”
Damian blinked. That made sense. Why hadn’t anyone contacted her yet? What in the world were they doing? “Do you have your phone? I think we should call her.”
“Uh, yeah, no shit.” Thomas fumbled to pull his phone out of his pocket. “Should I call her work phone or her day phone? Since we’re asking for information.”
“Either should be fine. But let’s go somewhere with fewer people.” The cafeteria wasn’t crowded, and no one was sitting within earshot, but better safe than sorry.
They went to the courtyard, sitting under a tree. Gordon picked up after the fifth ring.
“Hey, Duke. Is this important, because I’m at work right now.”
“Uh, yeah. It’s super important, but it’s not like urgent. Nah, it’s urgent but not right-this-second urgent. Also, Damian’s here.”
“Hello, Gordon,” Damian greeted. “There’s something going on and we found it pertinent to inform you.”
“Okay? Hey, Damian. Is this something for O, because you should’ve called the other line.”
“We don’t really know?” Thomas offered. “It’s complicated.”
“What is it?” she sighed.
“Okay, don’t freak out. But um… long story short, Bruce is abusing Tim, and we’re having an intervention eventually. But like me and Damian were wondering if you could scrape some security footage from around the manor so we could use it as evidence. And also, don’t freak out again, we were wondering if maybe you could take us in or help us in that area if this got weird and legal and we get taken from Bruce.”
“We have very limited options between you, Richard, and Cain,” Damian added.
It was silent on the other line for a full thirteen seconds. But a voice came through eventually.
“I’m sorry, I just…. Correct me if I’m wrong. Bruce is abusing Tim, and you want me to look for evidence? You also want me to possibly adopt you in case you’re both taken from Bruce’s custody?”
“Not adopt, but yeah, pretty much,” Thomas cringed.
“Okay.” She took a deep breath. “Okay. I’ll look. And I wish you’d told me sooner. I’m assuming everyone else is aware.”
“I think so?” He turned to Damian. “Does Dick know?” Damian nodded. “Yeah, everybody knows.”
“Okay. I’ll scrape through footage when I get home from work. Thanks for telling me. But can you tell me what I’m looking for?”
“No problem. Uh… Basically, when Tim and Bruce are alone together, look for any weird hugs or something. If you find audio, that’s good. Tell Cass if you find anything. Or Jason, I don’t know. Probably Cass, yeah, Cass is better.”
Gordon made a small mm-hm, and hung up. Thomas turned to Damian and met his eyes before looking away. Damian could see him bite the inside of his lip.
“Thomas? What’s wrong?”
Thomas sighed. “Nothing, Damian. Just thinking about something.”
Damian hummed. “Well, lunch is over. I need to go back to class.”
Bruce was in the cave again. It was to be expected, honestly, Hell Week started this weekend, and he was already stressed as is. Tim didn’t know if he was happy about that or not. On the positive side, it meant he was out of Bruce’s hair for a while. He had time to breathe without thinking about Bruce pouting. In the negative, it meant Bruce was gonna be burnt out next week which was when he was supposed to go to Bludhaven with Dick. Oh shoot, he forgot to tell Bruce Dick was coming for Hell Week. That wouldn’t be a huge problem, but Tim cursed himself nonetheless. Bruce was a control freak if nothing else, and this meant he’d have a little less time to plan everyone's patrol routes. Not even a full day less, like 14 hours.
Tim groaned, pressing the heels of his hands into his eyes. He had something to seriously look forward to. He was going to Bludhaven with Dick for a photography expo, he could meet people there. If he ever decided to get back into photography, that is. He didn’t mean to drop the hobby, but vigilante work, being a CEO, and taking care of Bruce were a full-time job. Tim barely had time to sleep, let alone pick up a camera. He missed it. He didn’t even realize he missed it until Dick called him. Photography was the one thing Tim had when he was younger, everything else was for someone else. For his parents, for other socialites. Tim loved it, and he’d left it behind.
Tim looked down at the spread of photos beneath him. They were all old, nothing from the past year. He couldn’t make a full portfolio with year-old pictures. They were good, obviously, he cared deeply about how each turned out, down to the last pixel. But they were old, and what if someone actually tried to contact him afterwards, and he lost his touch? He’d actually die of embarrassment. He had to go out and take some more, he only had a little over a week to update his portfolio.
His camera was right where he left it, a shelf in his closet. The bag it was in had collected dust, and Tim felt a little pang in his heart. If there was a speck of dust on the lens… he didn’t know what he’d do. He would’ve never let that happen before. He’d never gone this long without touching his camera. It felt heavy in his hands. It felt familiar. Tim smiled to himself and pulled his phone out.
‘I’m going out for a little if you need me, but I’ll be back in like 2/3ish hours,’ he texted Bruce.
Bruce texted him back a thumbs-up.
Tim tossed the bag strap over his shoulder and headed to the garage. He should probably take a bike rather than walking or riding his skateboard. He turned a corner and almost bumped face to chest with Alfred.
“Oh! Hey, Alfie,” Tim said.
“Master Timothy,” Alfred greeted. “Master Bruce has been in the cave for over ten hours. If you’re not busy, I was hoping you might find a way to coax him out.”
Tim’s heart dropped. He knew he should, if Bruce made a habit of staying down there all the time again, it’d be hard to break him out of it. And he’d be down there a lot in the next few days. But Tim wanted to go out. He wanted to take photos while he still had time. Alfred frowned at his lack of an answer, and Tim’s chest felt tight.
Bruce was downstairs. He should deal with that. Alfred wanted him to. Tim had a responsibility here, and yet here he was, trying to get out of it. Tim should help. He should, that’s why he’s here. He felt disgusting.
Tim gulped. “Um, I’m really busy. But I’ll be back in a couple hours, so I’ll get him then.” He quickly walked around Alfred. “See you later.”
He just stared forward until he was on one of his bikes and a few hundred feet away from the manor gates. He couldn’t believe he did that! He had a job. He came here for a reason, he entered Bruce’s life with a purpose. One he was denying. And even if he’d just said no to Bruce, which was hard enough as is, he said no to Alfred. No one said no to Alfred.
Well, that was part of why Tim was here. He was supposed to help Alfred with Bruce. Bruce was their kid, Tim was supposed to help take care of him. So he and Alfred were on equal footing; he could say no to him.
It wasn’t a good justification.
Tim said no to Alfred. He wasn’t doing his job. He just wanted to take some pictures, he needed to update his portfolio. It’d be okay if Bruce were down there for a few more hours. He should turn around. He should go to the cave and get Bruce to eat or go to bed or something. He should, he knew he should.
But then he probably wouldn’t make it out again today, and the thought of being home alone with Bruce for hours. And Bruce had been getting worse lately, not by leaps and bounds, but still noticeably. And if Tim just let him be, he didn’t even want to think of what would happen. And something would happen. Bruce was a ticking time bomb of a person. Tim’s purpose was to snuff out his fuse whenever it got close to lighting. And he wasn’t doing his job!
The self-aware part of his brain told him Bruce would be okay for a few hours. Time blends together in the cave, Bruce would barely notice the time passing. But then, if Bruce looked at the clock and thought Tim had abandoned him while he was depressed in the cave, Tim wouldn’t forgive himself. He wouldn’t notice. Because Bruce had alarms that went off to notify him of anything important, so as long as Tim was back before patrol, Bruce wouldn’t mind. It was just a few hours. Bruce would be fine for a few hours, he wasn’t a baby. And he was working, he wouldn’t even notice.
Tim wanted to throw up as he got off his bike at the park. It was a relatively nice day for Gotham. No sun, as per usual, but the layer of cloud was thinner. Tim took a grounding breath. He was here for photography. The perfect shots. He took his camera from the bag and turned it on. He always made sure to charge it before putting it away, so it was still at full battery. He aimed it at a tree and opened the settings. He needed to adjust for the light and color balance.
It felt nice, it was all familiar, and he felt everything else fade away. He found a few snails to capture close-ups of. He didn’t have a lot of wildlife pictures; most of his old ones were cityscapes he captured on the high roofs of Old Gotham. He found some more small animals. He was sure he could find some rodents if he went to an alley or subway. Maybe he could find Ivy’s garden. She was in Arkham right now, so she wouldn’t be there.
He fell into a rhythm, finding nice things at the park and a few of the busy downtown streets before hopping on his bike and riding down to the docks. He liked the docks. They were quiet, away from people. And if he came at the right time of day, the sun on the water was beautiful. Tim knew better than to get too close to the water; it was probably the most cursed, if not polluted, body of water in the world. He got some good shots of the boats.
He could probably get the skyline from the WE building, so that was his next stop. He was dressed in casual clothes when he entered, different from the suit his employees were used to seeing him in. The old lady at the front desk, Mrs. Samuel, beamed at him when she saw him.
“Look at you, Mr. Drake. Finally dressing your age.”
“Hi, Mrs. Samuel,” Tim said, digging in his pocket for his employee card. “I forgot to tell you, but I really loved the cookies you brought to the employee party last month. They were really good, did you make them yourself?”
“Oh, you flatter me, Mr. Drake,” she smiled. “Yup. With my own two hands. I’ll make you a batch of your own since you loved them so much.”
Tim finally found his card and scanned himself in. “Really? Thanks, I’d love that. Bye, Mrs. Samuel.”
“Have a good day, Mr. Drake.”
Tim waved back at her and headed to the elevator. There was a helicopter pad on the roof, but there probably wasn’t a helicopter up there at the moment. He talked to a few more people on his way up, a couple asked about his camera. Tim actually really liked his employees, even if they tended to baby him sometimes. He kind of expected that, most of them were in their mid-thirties and/or parents at least, and he was still 17. They treated him seriously when they needed to, and that’s what mattered.
Once he was on the roof, he sighed. It was nice and quiet up there. And he could see the rest of the city pretty well, since this was the tallest building. The pictures up here were beautiful. Gotham was beautiful. The architecture, the noise, the people. Tim loved it here. He took a picture of the skyline. The WE building stood out from the others in Old Gotham. It’d been renovated to look more modern after the earthquake, so now it stood out from the surrounding 19th and 20th-century Gothic architecture. It was weird to look at, and a great contrast, so a great picture. Tim got a few more pictures as he left.
As he was walking to his bike, his phone buzzed. Dick had texted him. It was a screenshot of a tweet with the caption “Tim Drake, WE CEO, spotted with camera at park.” There was some more text about him taking pictures. Dick sent another text.
Feeling excited? :)
I have to update my portfolio
Just finished taking pics, gonna head home to edit now
Coolio
I’m about to head over in a few hours so i’ll be there tonight
You’re coming early? I thought you wouldn’t be here until Sunday
Nope! Coming tonight
C u soon >3<
Tim frowned at his phone. Okay, so he really needs to tell Bruce then. Shit, he has to tell Bruce. He left Bruce in the cave before he left and he’d been running around for four hours. He totally forgot! How did he let himself forget, he had to go home. Tim drove back to the manor, a little faster than he probably should. He pulled into the garage and went straight to the library, passing Duke and Damian as they arrived home from school. When he entered the cave, Bruce was sitting at the computer, analyzing data from the strain of fear toxin they had stolen.
“Hey, B,” Tim started carefully. They had a couple hours before patrol. Tim’s goal was to get him out of the cave before then. “What’s going on?”
Bruce looked up at him. “Reverse engineering. Trying to figure out the similarities between this and other strains. So far, it seems very similar to the true base form. There are no hallucinations, but it raises glutamate levels while slowing the release of adrenaline. Essentially making you feel trapped while your brain tries to make your body panic.”
Okay, well, that wasn’t good. “So if someone was dosed without knowing, it’d seem like intense paranoia and confusion with no source.”
Bruce nodded. “There may be other effects. I’m not done yet.”
Tim hummed. “Well, you can take a break. We need time to eat and do warmups before patrol, plus Duke and Dami just got home. You should ask them about their day.”
Bruce looked at the time and grimaced. “Yes. Give me thirty more minutes, I’ll finish up.”
“Okay, well, first, you’ve been here since yesterday. You need time to recharge before patrol. Secondly, thirty minutes down here is like two hours to the rest of the world, and the rest of the world is where you need to be right now. Especially since Dick is coming to dinner.”
That caught his attention. “Dick is coming?”
“Yeah. He’s gonna help for Hell Week, so even if it gets too busy, Damian and Duke can still go trick-or-treating.” Bruce looked between the stairs and the computer. “I’ll finish up down here, B, go spend time with your kids.”
Bruce looked between Tim and the computer a few more times, clearly debating what to do. It shouldn’t be a debate; Tim would much rather be spending time with Duke and Damian than working on this. Finally, Bruce started to walk to the steps. He mumbled a thank you to Tim as he passed, and Tim just smiled. When Bruce closed the grandfather clock behind him, Tim sank to his knees.
Bruce hadn’t noticed. Of course he wouldn’t have, Tim wouldn’t have noticed either. The cave was like a time capsule, he didn’t need to worry about being late. He’d stressed himself out over nothing. He worried himself to almost throwing up for no reason. He wouldn’t be in trouble if he’d stayed out later. He could’ve, he had the freedom to.
But Bruce was getting worse. He was, Tim knew he was. But Tim hadn’t even had any physical contact with him today. He was just busy, that was why. They both were, they just hadn’t seen each other. But they just had, and they were alone, and Bruce hadn’t even tried to at least touch his shoulder. All he did was say thank you. That wasn’t like Bruce. Bruce needed affection, especially when he was on edge like he had been for the past week or so. Was their conversation yesterday really all Bruce needed? He didn’t need anything else out of Tim?
Tim didn’t know how to feel about that. He knew he should feel glad, probably, maybe. A happy Bruce was what Tim was striving for, so why did he feel like this? It was fine. It was. They were just both busy today. And Tim didn’t want Bruce to touch him. He hated the feeling of Bruce’s heavy hands and his almost palpable sorrow. He hated it so much. But Bruce hadn’t tried anything in the one interaction they had. But it had only been one interaction. They still had dinner, pre-patrol, patrol, and post-patrol to get through. It’d be okay.
It was good that Bruce had asked for nothing. It was good that Bruce hadn’t noticed how much time had passed. It was good that Bruce was hanging out with his kids. It was good that Bruce was happy. Tim didn’t want Bruce to hug him. He didn’t want Bruce whining and sulking and looking at him like a kicked puppy. This was good. Bruce was good. Tim was good.
He was.

Starting over | Leah Williamson
Pairing: Leah Williamson x Wälti!Reader & Lia Wälti x Sister!Reader
Summary: After a rough year you decide to move in with your sister. Moving from Switzerland to London was a big step but your sister's friends and teammates quickly took you in as their own.
Warnings: panic attacks
Masterlist | Woso masterlist | words: 2.5k
Your flight from Switzerland to London was about to land. After having a rough year back home, you decided to quit your job and move to London to get a fresh start. London wasn’t a random destination, your sister Lia has lived there for years. You’ve always loved it there when you visited, so when you felt like getting out of Switzerland for a while, London was an easy decision. Lia was waiting for you at the gate, you went in for a hug after not having seen her in person since the world cup. After grabbing your bags from baggage claim, she drives you home and helps you settle in. Since you had a long day, you head to bed after catching up with your sister a little.
The next morning you're sitting on the couch, scrolling on your phone as Lia is getting ready for practice. "I got it." You yell to your sister when you hear the doorbell ring. “Hey, welcome to London once again! I hope I remember your coffee order correctly.” Leah says as she walks in with a tray of coffees. Over the years you had met many of your sister's teammates, you had seen the most of her best friend Leah though. “It’s perfect, Leah, thank you.” You say as you greet the girl with a hug. You catch up with her for a moment while your sister continues getting ready for practice.
Your first day in London was mostly spent walking around, and exploring the city. You’ve visited and stayed with your sister before, coming to a few games, and also just to spend time with her but you always went to the places she had grown to love. You wanted to experience the city through your own eyes and find places of your own as well. A small restaurant caught your eye, so you decided to go there for lunch. It looked out on a small pond filled with ducks. You loved seeing nature all around you.
Lia texted you an hour after lunch letting you know some of the girls would be coming over for a movie night, and that you were of course invited to join them. Lia’s friends and teammates were great, so you were excited to see some of them again. That evening your new home was filled with laughter, something you found very comforting. Leah, Beth, Viv, Katie, and Steph were scattered around the living room with both you and Lia. Bowls of snacks cover the table as the movie plays on the TV. You become quiet once a scene comes up that triggers you. At first you try to shake it off, and continue the movie, however you weren’t able to. So, you grabbed two of the empty bowls and made your way to the kitchen. Leah had noticed your sudden change, and followed you with some empty glasses.
She found you in the kitchen trying to regulate your breathing. Leah quickly made her way over to you, “Come on, let’s sit down.” She says as she guides you to one of the chairs at the dinner table with a hand on your back. “Do you remember when Lia was having her little photoshoot moment on the beach and that big wave came crashing over her?” It takes you a moment to remember but as soon as you do, you nod your head, still breathing too irregularly to speak. “She was so mad that her outfit got soaked.” Leah continues, trying to bring your focus to more fun memories. “Or that time when she tried to feed a cow in one of those Swisse fields and it tried to eat her hand?” You managed a laugh at that thought. Leah took that as her strategy to get you out of your panic attack working. “What about that time you joined us in playing a friendly match and I slipped in the mud?” You finally caught your breath a bit. “You-” Talking was still a bit of a struggle but you continued trying. “You were covered head-” Another deep breath, “to toe.” Leah smiles, “Yes, it took multiple showers and laundry cycles for me and my clothes to be ridden of the horribly smelling mud.” You laugh with her, feeling your panic attack fade bit by bit. “I am definitely not playing on that horrible field ever again.” Leah continued, giving you space to catch your breath. She noticed your breathing returning to normal, and stood up to grab you a glass of water. With shaky hands you take a few sips before placing it on the table. “Thank you, Leah. How did you know?”
“My brother used to get them too. His therapist always told us that distracting him and making him think of a memory would make it easier for him to get out of it.” You nod along. “Are you okay?” She asks while placing her hand on your knee. “Yes, I think I’m okay, thank you.” Leah tells you to stay put while she fills the bowls and cups back up. Luckily the other girls hadn’t seemed to notice you were gone longer than was needed to refill everything, since they were too invested in the movie. You sat down on the couch again, Leah settling beside you once again. She nudged Katie, “Can you hand me that blanket?” Noticing that most of the girls had made themselves comfortable with one. Leah put the blanket over herself and offered to drape the other half over you, which you happily agreed to.
The movie continued on but a part of you seemed to not be able to let go of your panic attack. You started kicking your leg up and down, Leah noticed and reached out her hand to you in comfort, placing it on your thigh. You took a deep breath after the contact, only then noticing what you were doing. Leah let her hand linger in hopes of offering some kind of comfort. You lay your own hand down on top of hers and give it a squeeze, showing your appreciation. She turns her hand around and holds yours, rubbing her thumb over the back of your hand in a soothing motion.
The movie comes to an end, and everyone helps clean up. Leah stays by you while the rest of the girls bring the dishes to the kitchen, you’re both folding blankets and tidying up the living room a bit. “Does Lia know?” Leah asks softly, making sure no one could overhear you. You shake your head, “No, not that they’re back at least.” She doesn’t question you but you tell her anyways, “I used to have them more often in high school.” Leah nods along as she continues her way around the living room. “Are you going to tell her?” Before you can answer Beth and Viv walk back into the living room.
“Alright we are heading home.” Beth announces. Both girls go around and give everyone a quick hug. The rest of the girls joined you in the living room as well. After Viv gives you a hug she invites you to the party her and Beth are throwing on friday, to celebrate both of them returning to Arsenal after their injuries. You accept the invitation and wave them off. Katie, Steph, and Leah decide to call it a night too. You hug Katie and Steph first, and when you give Leah a hug you whisper to her, “Don’t worry, I’ll tell her tonight.” She gives you a quick squeeze before letting you go and moving out of the door with Katie and Steph. The door closes and you head straight to your room, exhausted from the panic attack.
Lia follows you to your room, sensing that something is off. She knocks before opening the door when you say come in. Watching you lay in your bed staring at the ceiling, she remembers the countless times she laid beside you on days your panic attacks got the best of you. So, without hesitation she lays down next to you. You must have laid there for a good half hour before you spoke up. “They’re back Lia, the panic attacks, they’re back.” She turns to her side and looks your way, and places her hand on your arm. “Thank you for telling me, y/n. You know that I will always be here for you but have you looked into getting a therapist here maybe? I know it helped you a lot back in high school, plus I know how tough this past year has been for you.” Your sister had always been your rock, so you knew she would be there for you no matter what. “Yes, I found one online that looked nice but I haven’t been able to push myself to make an appointment.” Lia understood how hard it was to make that step, so she offered to do it with you. With your introduction appointment made, you called it a night.
The rest of your week had so far consisted of the introduction appointment, going on walks, spending time with your sister. Today you were making your way to a small restaurant to have lunch with Leah. She had texted you after movie night if you would be interested in seeing a different part of London. You started the day off with some lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon following tourguide Leah around, while she showed you all around some of her favorite less popular places in London. You haven't laughed like today in a long time. It honestly felt like you had known Leah for ages. You had of course known her for some years now but you never before had spent one on one time with her, always seeing her in group settings including your sister. Leah enjoyed the day just as much as you did, happy to share the stories she knew about the places you visited. When it was time for you to go your separate ways to get ready for Beth and Viv’s party, you hugged each other goodbye and made your way home.
Lia noticed the change in your appearance by the smile that wouldn’t falter, she was happy to see you were feeling better today. “How was your day out with Leah?” She asked curiously. You told her that you had a great time, and shared where Leah showed you around. You got ready for the party and drove to Beth and Viv’s. Their place was filled with loved ones, the whole Arsenal team was there along with some of their friends and family.
You were making your way through the crowd to get to the drinks when you ran into Leah, “Hey stranger, long time no see.” You joke, she laughs at your cheesy joke and joins you on your way to the drinks. You find a place to sit and start talking with Leah. On the other side of the room Katie nudges Lia and points your way, “You know Leah is totally crushing on your sister, right?” She follows the direction Katie is pointing in and sees the both of you laughing. “Yeah, I think my sister is crushing on Leah too, actually.” Lia had a feeling after today, now seeing the way you lit up around Leah, confirmed her suspicions. Back in the day she would’ve been annoyed if you had a crush on any of her friends but she felt herself rooting for the both of you, the two of you would make a great pair.
After a while you excuse yourself to go find the restroom. Manuela decides to step in Leah's direction, “So, are the rumors online true?” Leah furrows her brows, “What are you talking about?” Manuela laughs, “Nah, I’m just messing with you but apparently the internet seems to think you have a thing for Lia now.” Leah shakes her head, “They always read into every little thing they see online don’t they.” She laughs, having heard her fair share of rumors about herself over the years. “Plus, I kinda have a thing for the other Wälti sibling.” Manuela looks over and she bursts out laughing as she meets your widened eyes. “And that’s my queue.” She says leaving a confused Leah and a shocked y/n behind. Leah turns around and finally understands her teammates' reaction. “You heard that then?” She says as a blush takes over her cheeks. You nod, and take her hand, leading the both away from the busyness.
Leah studies your face when you come to a stop in the hallway. “Don’t worry, the feeling is reciprocated, Leah.” She smiles and pulls you closer by the hand that you’re still holding. Her eyes dart between your eyes and your lips. “Can I kiss you?” You feel your heart start beating faster. “Yes.” Leah smiles and lifts her free hand to your cheek, pulling you in the rest of the way. Your lips meet in a sweet kiss, you both smile into the kiss and share a moment before you kiss her again. This time however the kiss gets interrupted by Katie walking into the hallway, “Ahh this is so cute. I knew you two had a thing for each other!” The Irish woman squeals. “Shut it, McCabe.” Leah warns. “Let us first tell Lia before you share it with the world, please.” Katie lifts up her hands in surrender, “Don’t mind me, love birds, just getting some fresh air.” She says as she moves past you out of the front door. You both laugh at the interaction, knowing you would have to tell Lia soon, because you both know that Katie would not be able to keep her mouth shut about something like this.
After figuring out what this meant for the both of you, settling on dating for now, you told Lia together that same night, not wanting to do anything behind her back since you both had such a close bond with her. Lia was happy for the both of you and immediately gave you her blessing. She thought you would be great for each other and was just happy that she wouldn’t have to watch the two of you pine for each other without telling each other that you like the other.
When the party was over, Leah walked you back to your car. Lia gave a quick hug and sat down in the car, giving the two of you some space to say goodnight. “Drive safe, text me when you get home?” She asks, “I will, you do the same?” Leah nods, “Of course. Goodnight, y/n.” You lean in to place a kiss on her cheek. “Goodnight, Leah.”
Her message about making it home safely followed mere minutes after you had sent her yours. You continued texting her with a smile on your face, you talked until you could no longer keep your eyes open and fell asleep.

DAMIAN WAYNE SCHOOL HEADCANONS because school opened like 2-3 weeks ago and i need to cope
•since he is 15 years old, he is in 10th grade(not letting dc pull a tim drake and make him the same age forever)
•he used to love chemistry in the 9th grade because the first subject was alchemy if i remember correctly(dc can pry the "al ghuls are alchemists" hc(canon) from my cold dead hands)
but he lost interest in chemistry quickly after the subject passed.
•his all time favourite classes are math and art. im just sure damian's type of person that doesnt separate math and art from eachother
•why art is his favourite is a given but his favourite is math because math is a class based on problem solving(and also because he can do math easily)
but yeah ik his classmates are very very annoyed whenever he says "math is easy"
•I imagine him arguing with his english teacher the most for some reason. there is no reason other than damian is a very educated kid about the english literature(literature in general) so either he doesnt care or he correct his teacher on literally everything.
•i feel like he would either do a very detail research about the book he read and write a very long essay, or make a very short one and not enough detailed. no in between(because he misunderstood his teachers when they said to "keep it short")
•he begged his father to let him take an exam that lets him skil grades based on his level but his father refused so now he takes advanced math etc.
•him and duke see eachother in the morning regularly(insomniac duke, and damian who wakes up at 5.30 is real) and they sit down to talk about random shit till 7 am mostly(duke explained him the fnaf lore and damian talked about creepypastas real)
•he texts with maps both on their way to their separate schools and make plans to meetup after school to just hang out
•damian usually reads or draws in most of the classes since he already knows everything they are teaching but when asked a question, he does yap a lot(dc should bring back yapper damian ngl)
•bathroom breakdowns were very real for 9th grade damian(literally canon event for everyone with social anxiety or people who get overstimulated at school)
•still bullied just doesnt care about it and insults them/messes with them back to get back at the bullies(it stops after him also messing with them)
•he loves playing football and volleyball but not with his teammates(ik hes #3 frat boy hater i just feel it) so he only gets along with 2 of his teammates. i imagine their personality as scott and stiles from teen wolf so yeah
•has one(1) friend and two(2) teammates he doesnt hate in total(girlfailure and girlsuccess damian youre real to me🙌😼)
also he got multiple friends outside of school anyways lmao bro is anything BUT anti-social(to me hes also the type to join his schools projects etc or debate teams)
•he always calls his mother when he makes it to school and whenever hes leaving it because talia worries and he wants ease her worries(ultimate mother daughter duo)
•after school he has a yap session with nika and they talk about everything that happened to them that day(yapper4yapper gravebird my beloved)
•him and stephanie rant about school daily and talk about how much they hate it(but they both wont drop out since steph wants that med school degree and damian also wants it in the future(med student sisterisms real))
•jon may be going to a journalism school(i think??) but hes still a science nerd so their study sessions always turns into an argument about an equation or a science problem
>>> so i think thats it!! please tell me your headcanons too and help me cope with school also because i love reading about hcs(esp thosr about damian) <<<<

I got the full We Are Robin series for chirstmas! So here are some random silly things I noticed
Though I don't have any of the Robin War crossover or tie-in issues, which is a bummer but still.
Duke is like a self certified adrenaline junkie & says as much within like the first few pages
So yeah I get it. Mortality. It's about survival. Spent so much time surviving lately I feel like I've gotten addicted to it. To the Rush. I mean, I know why. It's all endorphins and adrenaline. I shouldn't trust it I shouldn't love it this much in all it's chemical falseness. But I'm a junkie now. worse stuff to be hooked on I guess. Issue #1, Page 4
Riko like definitely had a crush on Duke at some point and the angst is only further fueling my mind
Not crazy about the alternative cover to Issue #9B[right], it's cute but it feels like it belongs to another plot idea, #9A[left] looks more inline and it's just genuinely one of the coolest covers for this series

I really liked how it felt like all the Robin kids where pretty equal in page time & relevance to the story, I would have like some more of Riko in the later Issues but she did get a whole one to herself with a completely different artist
Focusing on that, Issue #4 is fucking gorgeous, like Jorge Corona's style is so much fun and comicy but the combined work of James Harvey, Diana Egea & Alex Jaffe brings to life a completely different type of very comic/graph novel style. Along with the fact the busyness of it reflects off of Riko's own personality & mentality. The two page spreads, the lack of barely any panel lines b/c each panel just looks that different from each other, the colors & pattern overlays, it's gorgeous and I could go off on a separate post about it another time. It's a shame I don't have all the covers with their style!

Though having Babs specifically be Riko's batgirl doesn't make much sense in a real world timeline but this is comic time soooo, i still would have like Steph to be her batgirl!
Duke has watched the Hobbit, and he thinks of himself as himself as more of the sword guy but he also like Legolas b/c he thinks he's cool & honestly that says alot about Duke's personality
Always thought of myself as more swarthy sword-weilding badass with the five-o'clock shadow. Or at least that elf dude. Yeah... that elf dude had style. Issue #1 Page 3
I've already read these volumes a couple months ago, so coming back to them was refreshing and I'm glad to have them physically, makes them alot easier to read and understand when I have 'em there physically
Also made me learn more about Troy, I thought he was a bit full of himself at first but he was genuinely just a good kid trying to do good, and his failure to do so resulted in his death and it's one of two things that breaks down our group of Robins [the other being Gordon's robo-batman denouncing the We Are Robin movement as a whole]
Troy Walker...Above average student with interests in political activism, history, and philosophy. Issue #4 Back Page 2
I'm pretty sure Duke is the youngest of our group of Robins, like the character summaries at the back of Issue #4, Duke-16, Riko-16, Dax-17, Izzy-17, Troy-17, Dre-17, which I think is one of best realizations I had about this story
No Duke isn't really the leader of WaR I'd say but the end of the series he's more just a working member of the most active group of Robins
By #12 they're very much a "We" "Us" "All" sort of group and saying they have a distinct leader would do them a disservice, though if I remember correctly there was some sort of hierarchy mentioned in the Robin War crossover issues, but we're gonna work around those for a second, at least until I get me hands on them/reread them again
I'd say the leaders are who ever is most determined to be a Robin within the moment, which Duke isn't at the beginning but is later on [round #6 #11 & #12] and even then he's often sharing that drive to be Robin with another Robin [usually Riko honestly]
And I'd say the Robin with the biggest & consistent want are Riko, Shug & Dax, in that order but mainly cause Dax had an era of doubt after Troy died & Robo-Batman denounced them
Riko hallucinates Batgirl and I need that to be talked about, like the hallucination isn't all that strong, purely visual, but it's high-def and it moves like a person and reacts to what she says to it [in the middle of class while a teacher is trying to get her attention mind you] I think the spread where it happens is the 2nd one I put up top
Izzy is actually a very emotional person, and I think she's the first character to cry in the series, [they are literally disarming a highly dangerous explosive and I think that's so valid for her] and honestly non of her emotions are like unwarrented, she's constantly on her last fucking leg, between late nights at her family resturant, combined with homework till 3 and chronically late to school to the point it might get her held back or expelled she's pretty tired with it all
I think my favorite moment for her was when her brother Hector [who she despises but also that's her brother so like] died to that weird Owl-Man Talon thing [which like I'm pretty sure died in Robin War], and when Talon-Man was about to kill Duke & Riko, like her black mascara/eyeshadow tears as she held that thing at gun point where devastating, not to mention it's goading her on & Duke & Riko are trying to get her to drop the gun aswell
Talon: Yes! this one understands the true nature[kill or be killed] of things! Izzy:...Gonna...gonna bury this creep. Tryin' to sell us the future Duke: C'mon, drop the gun! Talon: Pull the trigger, my beautiful killer. Take your first step towards a new world. Izzy: I'll so it...come any closer an I'll-- Issue #6 Page 7
This Issue also cements our Robins and their relationship to batman some more
Riko, Duke & Dax are the leaders in this Issue, more so the 1st two cause Dax doesn't have much page time, but still the sentiment of them not being wannabes/worshipers Batman's like everyone thinks and instead their own group is important here
Talon: Your code...the Bat's code...it is folly...He won't help you. Issue #6 page 5 Riko: Robins don't kill Izzy. You know this. Remember who we are. Talon: Young fool! Your false idol will be your undoing. Riko: Not trying to be like Batman. Trying to be better. Issue #6 page 10
I like Dre he's actually a really interesting guy, and you have to look past all the walls he pulls up [which are interesting in'n'off themselves] and see a kid who wants to be a vigilante, he's one of the leaders for Issues #9 & #10, being his own vigilante & operative after the Robin Laws are passed, he doesn't back down one bit & stays steadfast in his want to help people, going against Smiley in his Joker era as the first Robin to do so
He's just honestly cool, and I like the way he starts as a pessimist to the idea of Nest, but that doesn't fully stop him from wanting to help people, he gets back into it the moment he pulls himself together
I don't think I've brought up Dax properly yet but he's definitely one of the connectors of the group, [the others being Shug & Riko], once he gets out of his early bought of pessimism after Robo-Bat disavows them he is a consistent leader within the group and pushes the others to fucking do something, but his connecting work is mainly done for Izzy & Dre, Izzy when she's in her slump later on, & when Dre when he's running solo without the others, he pulls the wayward birds closer to the rest of the flock
Having read this series & reminiscing on "Batman & The Signal" & "The Outsiders" I don't like the way they portray Duke much at all
Lee Bermejo gets Duke in a way I don't think the other writes really do, this Duke, WaR!Duke, would not have become The Signal, he would have been Lark, and I mourn the lose of what he could of been had he not been pushed into become The Signal, it would have been interesting to see Damian & Tim share Robin with a kid they had to actually deal with, it might have actually forced Tim to move on completely from Robin, it might have gotten Damian more friends, it would have given Duke a more interesting story in my opinion
Okay I'm tired now, so i'm just put my fav covers of the ones I have from this series in left to right descending order of favorite-to-least favorite.
Goodnight! & Happy Holidays everyone!!!!

Future Tim/joker JR/caroline
JR works with two face oftenly as well as with venquilitrist due to the similarities of multiple personalities
Caroline has her own apartment and everything when she is Caroline she often actually works with Leslie as a nurse for the bat family only one Caroline personally knows is steph tho ok
Hi!!!! If I'm remembering correctly, this is referencing an AU where Tim has a system, right?
I don't quite remember, so I could be wrong. It would also be hella cool if somehow Tim got thrown into a machine or something that created the multiple identities that he's assumed over the years. This way, Caroline, JJ, Mr. Sarcastic, etc. all become humans with their own memories/personalities.
JJ would be especially devastating because there's no Tim in him. He came from Tim, but he's not Tim. There's no Tim to stop him from following the Joker

Hey! I feel like I should know this but I'm pulling a blank. Do you know where we in terms of pre-new-52/post-new-52 continuity in DC now? has the pre-new52 stuff been retconned back into canon now and if so when was it? Specifically I was trying to remember if Steph now has ever been Robin, or if that's still out of continuity. She was in Batman Vs Robin which suggested that she had been, but I remember than in Detective Comics Rebirth she hadn't, and I can't remember when that period of history would have been remerged back into reality?
Since Dark Crisis in 2022, the DCU is once again a single infinite multiverse in the vein of late pre-Crisis continuity. Every universe and continuity exists, and some are closer to the mainline reality than others. Technically, every version of "mainline universe" history throughout the existence of the multiverse is now considered to have occurred and is remembered by the inhabitants of Prime Earth.
Theoretically this means post-Crisis continuity is basically back in full; in practice, this means that "everything is nebulously canon or non-canon until explicitly acknowledged by a writer to have definitively happened, be something that a character remembers happening to them, or something that still happened but happened differently than it did in the post-Crisis universe."
As far as Steph goes, our understanding of what's canon for her is significantly impaired by the fact that no one at DC seems to know what to do with her if they're not guest-starring her as "Tim's girlfriend/ex-girlfriend" or "Cassandra's best friend," so we've gotten a pretty minimal amount of information about her personal history back.
Her time as Robin has been re-canonized for years, at least as far back as the late Rebirth era (2019 or so, if I remember the stories she started being included correctly). Everything else is unfortunately a bit up in the air, since Batgirls refused to do any real work with Steph apart from make her deal with her dad (again) that one time. So she was definitely Robin, but whether the events of War Games (her firing and death) through Gotham Underground (her "resurrection") happened the exact same way as they did in the post-Crisis universe? I'm not sure.

i personally feel like the entire batfamily failed their permit or drivers test at least once. this isn’t up for debate.
dick failed his permit test a couple times and he was dumbfounded everytime but it was literally just because he never studied because he thought he watched bruce drive the batmobile enough to just remember what he did but what bruce did was all illegal.
jason failed his first permit test because he didn’t bother to study and he definitely failed it in the first couple of minutes of the test starting. he passed the second time but then died and never bothered to take his drivers test and that’s why no one likes to drive with jason.
everyone was surprised when tim failed his permit test a couple times because they all saw him as the smartest in the family but it was because he was sleep deprived and running on a cup of coffee and a monster energy drink.
steph had already passed her permit test before she joined the family but she drove so recklessly that no one let her even attempt the drivers test until alfred taught her correctly.
cass was the first one in the family to pass their permit test and drivers test on the first try and no one knows how or why because when they drive with her, she will hit a curb everytime.
duke was always too scared to drive so he probably hasn’t even taken his permit test yet because he knows it means he has to get in the drivers seat.
and by the time damian was old enough to take his permit test, everyone was so scared because they didn’t know what he was capable of or how much road rage he would have but once he got his license and started helping drive people places, he was actually the calmest driver out of all of them.

Okay so I'd like to talk a bit about my alternate hero names for the bat family in my au and who gets to keep what and why!
Cursed Gotham Masterpost
ROBIN!
Okay first things first if you have the mantle of Robin you don't actually go out and fight crime. Bruce is a good dad and no parent would actually let their child fight crime. That being said Bruce did train them constantly and did kinda mock patrols and mock encounters. In my little world Bruce would ask the nicer of his rogues like Ivy, Riddler, and eventually Harley (after the Joker Jr. Incident) to help with the fake encounters.
I keep thinking of Ivy hiring goons as Batman asked to help train a young Dick Robin (It took a hell of a lot of convincing on B's part and him agreeing to let Ivy give the kid ice cream after) and being like
Alright when you see the kid dressed in bright stoplight don't freak out, you're allowed to throw a punch but if you hurt him Batman will be the least of your worries
Cut to tiny-feral-ass-fuck-Robin Dick Grayson absolutely wiping the floor with the goons, not a single splatter of red paint on him (the goons were shocked to learn that they didn't have actual guns and bullets, they were paint ball guns... Ivy would never)
So yeah if you see a Robin (which most of the time you won't because everyone in Gotham is kinda convinced that they're all still cryptids or just out right ignores the Bats) you're safe, Batman's not going to let a child out at night to fight crime when it's unsafe.
First the big change!
RED ROBIN
SO in my au the mantle of Red Robin is meant to be what the kids hold while they're transitioning into their own vigilante persona. Originally when Dick was like a late teen and Jason was freshly adopted, Bruce and Dick had a very serious discussion about Robin becoming a mantle to pass on just like Batman was a mantle. Bruce told Dick out right if he didn't feel comfortable passing it on he didn't have to and if Dick didn't want to continue being a vigilante he doesn't have to either.
In my mind it took Dick about a month to make up his mind on wanting to continue being a vigilante and immediately came up with Red Robin as a kinda temporary mantle, so he was still honoring his mother and father but also kinda transitioning away from being Batman's protege and becoming a partner.
Dick was ready to offer Jason the Red Robin mantle but then he was killed by Joker. About a year later Tim comes along and basically forces his way into the Robin mantle and is Robin for a bit of time before he's kidnapped and tortured. While Tim is recovering Steph and Duke becomes Robin, when Tim is ready to go back to being Robin Steph is offered the mantle of Batgirl by Barbara which she accepts and Duke immediately becomes Signal. When Damien comes along Dick offers Tim the mantle of Red Robin until he's ready to become his own hero.
Speaking of!
Cardinal, Red X, Stray
Both Tim and Jason get different names in my au. Because of Jason's story and how I have it planned out he never becomes Red Hood, instead while recovering from being resurrected Jason helps Barbara with Oracle shenanigans like Tim did while recovering from Joker. And Tim leaves the mantle of Red Robin behind so Damien can carry on the tradition of holding it while transitioning from protege to partner.
I fell in love with the idea of Tim using the name Cardinal (we keep the bird theme cause it's cute) that way he can still keep his Red and Black.
For Jason the name Red Heron started as kinda a joke or pun, like a red herring (I feel Jason would hear the literatary pun and immediately love it) and also keeping the bird theme... But I'm also tempted to make him Red X... Idk I've always liked Red X's design
The reason behind Red X is because in my au Dick was the leader of the teen titans, like the early 2000's teen titans and if I remember correctly Jason is red X in that though something would have to change a bit for my story anyways because of the age differences.
I think Jason becoming Red X would have something to do with his time working with Babs. Both Tim and Jason worked with Babs as basically extra hands for Oracle, the boys being at the cave and Babs at the clock tower. I think for Jason's origin as Red X I might have Jason and Tim team up to like to follow a lead that Babs was working on before randomly disappearing. Maybe everyone believes she's dead but Tim (much like when Bruce was caught in the time stream which isn't apart of this au) believes she's alive, he goes to Jason who is always down for whatever crazy shit and they team up together.
Then we have Jillian who I wanted to make into Catwoman's protege because I had the idea of Jillian training with Selina once and it was all over. I don't remember where I heard Stray being used as the name for Catwoman's proteges but it's what I'm using for Jillian.

The beginning of DickBats era (not counting prodigal) is a really terrible time for Dick when you think about it, it's about a year after Blüdhaven is destroyed (more or less) and he was passively suicidal and then this happens.
During the time in between, I kinda got the feeling that Dick was getting a bit better mentally, especially in the Tomasi run, he is getting a hobby, he has a job that he seems to really like and be good at, he is with the Titans again and the Outsiders, Donna is alive. And then Bruce dies and it is cataclysmic for the entire family. And it is cataclysmic for him except everyone else is either going to Hong Kong, having a mental breakdown, committing crimes or being 10 and an ex-assassin (Steph and Babs might actually be the only ones who are doing pretty okay). He has to be the one who can't break now and so he puts on the performance again and he does it really well.
And then Bruce comes back and things are better but he is still batman and we never got to see him take a breath and absorb all of this (also he gets shot in the head) ?
And that's without counting what is happening with the Titans (if I remember correctly, they are also a mess with Donna being the one still with him in the justice league).
And it makes me wonder if we didn't get new 52 and we did get an actual transition back to Nightwing if we would have gotten him trying to figure himself out again and take a moment to digest and take in what happened during that year.

XOXO 💋
Ch. 2: She is as beautiful as she is poisonous

Series: Ongoing

Masterlist:

How difficult Christmas time must be for all of those on the Upper East Side?
"Honestly, Tini, what do you get a woman who practically owns everything? I swear I have no idea what to get my mother for Christmas!" Y/n spoke on the phone as she carried quite a few bags in her arms. Dior, Channel, Yves Saint Laurent, if it's expensive and you can name it, it's there. "And to be even more honestly, I regret going Christmas shopping the same day Bartie is doing groceries. Seriously, I should learn to coordinate with my butler better, balancing all of this is getting preeetty difficult" she complained as she rearranged her bags again. "I didn't take the limo because I wanted some fresh air, you know how I get when it gets too stuffy" she laughed as she began to search for her purse. Because of so, she wasn't able to see the tired young man walking directly towards her. "It's silly, I know but- HEY!" and down she went with all her bags.
Tim had had a rough day. Between waking up to Dick and Jason singing Baby its cold Outside highly off-key just to piss off Bruce for making them patrol on one of the coldest nights of the year without their thermal suits; his secretary forgetting to send him a copy of the agenda for today's meeting causing him to practically have to improvise most of his points; Damian appearing on his office and refusing to leave his chair trying to establish dominance for "his future empire" to which if Tim had a say, he would absolutely not get if he kept on acting like this; and finally, with Steph who insisted they went Christmas shopping today only to ditch him and leave him stranded in the middle of the street with all of their presents with the excuse of having to repaint her closet which only translates to "I'm getting your present so bye bye". He was completely exhausted and the stitches on his shoulder were getting more painful by the hour with the cold. He had decided to get some coffee at a cafe down by Wellington Street and had been too caught on his thoughts to see where he was going.
//THUD//
"Hey!"
Tim's and Y/n's bags, both shopping and personal, simultaneously fell, getting mixed up in the way. Both reached down to catch their stuff as fast as they could.
"Sorry, I was-"
" not paying attention, yes I figured. S, I'll call you later, I have a little situation here. "
Tim was taken aback by the attitude he received from this random stranger...this totally absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous stranger who just so happens to not be a stranger at all. If all of his years being lectured about the hierarchy of the Upper East Side had served correctly, he was standing in front of one of the heiress of the city, Y/n Vanderbilt and she was the most dazzling woman he had ever seen...and just as bothered as she was gorgeous.
"Yeah" he said breathlessly, "that" Could he sound any dumber.
"Yes, That. Ugh! The ONE time I get out without Bartie and this happens. How many of these are yours?" said Y/n without looking up. She hadn't recognized him yet and he wasn't sure how to feel about that. Finally, their eyes met and she raised her delicate eyebrow at him and he swore his heart stopped for a second. "Have we met before?" she asked after taking a good look at him. He sure was handsome as hell. Pale skin, dark hair which was a little bit messy but it suited him, sharp suit and even sharper blue eyes who she swore she had seen before.
"Timothy, Timothy Drake Wayne" he replyed cooly.
"Hmm, a Wayne adoptee and a Drake socialite, Gotham Academy?"
"Yes, but I-"
"-Dropped out, yes. Yes, you did, I remember reading the news. Dropped out to become the CEO of Wayne Enterprises."
"Funny" he laughs out getting up after making sure that all of his stuff was there and then looking up at her. "Can't recognize me but seems to know all my business, miss Vanderbilt." he said snarkly.
"Important enough to know, yet simultaneously not enough to get to actually know" she said with a wolfish smile. Touche.
Y/n checked all her bags and smiled to herself. "Well then, mister Drake Wayne, lovely to meet you. Watch your step next time." She said as she looked at him dead in the eye. "Have a nice day, Timothy."
And she walked away, leaving him dumbfounded watching her go.
"Tim Tim Tim! You will not believe the boots i just got! They are sooooo comfortable and warm for night patrol. My toes were freezing last night....Tim? Hey, what's wrong? You have a dazed look in your eyes?
"I think I just met the love of my life...and shes kind of a bitch." said Tim, making Stephanie laugh and link her arms with his.
"Let's go hide these and you can tell me all about the supposed love of your life."
-•-
Y/n paced around her room trying to see where she would hide her presents. Shopping had helped distract her mind from the matter that had been plaguing her mind these last few days. Most of the bags had been cleared by now and she only had three left. As she cleared her final bag, she noticed something strange. Two files. She takes them out curious to see what these are. "Can't be part of my gifts...hmm...let's see"
She opens the first one and sees it is directed to Red Robin?
"What...?" she whispered to herself. "Ivy's exploits on the newest power plant close to Gotham Central Park make a solid case worth observation. Following up on her latest attacks with the reports of Red Hood and Black Bat, we begin suspecting where her next attack will play out....holy shit" Y/n whispered in amazement. She then looked at the rest of the file. Some red yarn here and there. A mixture of scribbles and computer manuscripts. Folded papers and a lot of red ink.
Then she looked at the next folder, a meeting agenda filled with notes directed to one Tim Drake Wayne..."wait a minute.."
These are directed to the same IP address..with the same handwriting, including the signatures...
"Tim Drake Wayne is Red Robin"Y/n smirked, "I believe I found a solution to my little problem"
Y/N went to get her cellphone quick and marked her driver's number. "Donnie, get the car ready, we have a little visit to make"
------
"Where is it?" Tim searched frantically throughout his apartment. In his work bag, there were two very important files. The first being the final agenda of the meeting he had today with all of the notes he took which he needed right now in order to send it back to his secretary. If she wasn't so busy making googly eyes at him, he wouldn't have to waste time on the job and focus on the case. Speaking off, Tim decided to search for that file and found that it was also missing. "Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw, if Bruce doesn't kill me, Batman will for loosing those two things. Where are those fucking THINGS?" If his apartment was a mess before, it was even worse now.
Thankfully, fate is such a humorous thing.
//kmock, knock, knock//
Close to a breakdown out of frustration, Tim walks towards the door only to be pleasantly surprised by a face that had not left his mind.
"Miss Vanderbilt, what a lovely surprise" said Tim as he opened the door, letting the young girl walk in.
"Yes, just as lovely as this apartment. Are you always this well kept?" She responded with sass. Making Tim chuckle, "No, but i made sure to decorate it like this just in case there was a posibility of a pretty Vanderbilt showing up."
"Funny, that won't last long." She said with a tight smile. "I'm here for business."
"What ever business could you have with a Wayne? Our parents are business partners, so there is not related to networking. You have much more money than all of my family combined, so it isn't that. Status won't be either, you are practically modern day royalty. So, what could it be? What..could..it..be?" he said aproaching her. He may be lacking 48 hours worth of sleep, but the detective in him was up and on high alert. You were picking the skin around your nails and your nose had this adorable twitch that could only mean nervousnes and the look in your eye was cunning with a tinge of desesperation. What could Y/n Vanderbilt want from him?
"I need you to be my fake boyfriend."
Tim had always been proud of being observant and with that, came the ability to not be surprised yet, never in his 22 years of life did he think that he'd have Y/n Vanderbilt, THE Y/n Vanderbilt, asking him to fake date her in HIS apartment.
"What's in it for me?" he asked skeptical of the situation.
"My silence, Robin Boy" she said as she got the two files he had been frantically searching for this entire time and showed them to him. "And don't try to deny it, the handwriting is the same, I had the pleasure of taking DNA samples and they match, and have seen enough videos to be well aware that you have the same body type. Oh and worry not, only i’m aware of this information. Unlike Miss Vale, I do have various PI's on speed dial, and the weight of the Vanderbilt name, so any information out of me will be credible." She said with a pretty smile.
"Pretty, cunning, and poisounus. Who would have throught." He said, not confirming nor denying anything.
"And I am sure Daddy Brucie dearest, would just love finding out one of his little birdlings let the family secret out, wouldn’t he?" she said looking at him dead in the eye.
Tim felt his heart stop. She knew about all of them.
"You have until monday, lover boy. My phone number is written in there. Call me when you have made up your mind and if you accept, make sure you clear up your schedule cause that meeting will take a long time. Kisses" She ended as she handed the files to Tim and saw herself out.
"This is officially THE worst and simultaneously best day ever" He said as he threw himself on the couch.

If I remember correctly, the fic involves Red Hood getting arrested by members of the Justice League. None of the members who know that Red Hood is part of the Batclan are there. Superman is with Steph/Spoiler, and for some reason, they end up being chased by a high-speed helicopter (with some connection to Luthor), with Clark wondering why he decided to be uncle to Bruce's crazy children. Alfred, Selina, and the other "sane" members go on vacation, which somehow ends up with a plane crash on an island where they meet John Constantine, who ends up terrified of the so-called sane family members. Harley and Ivy apparently adopt Billy (Captain Marvel/Shazam). All the other members of the Batfamily reconvene to break out Jason and raid the Watchtower. Bruce is on a mission and returns to the Watchtower in the middle of this clusterfuck of misunderstandings going on. Also, most of the members of the JL who do not know about the Batfamily think they are eldritch abominations and ask Constantine if they are. Constantine is very bewildered but still tries to put some common sense into the idiotic members of the JL. I think this misunderstanding originated from Black Canary. Any Help is appreciated!

I cannot find the post now, (god I should’ve saved it,) but there was this post about how the other Batkids shouldn’t be given their own cities like Dick with Blüdhaven because they’re more connected to Gotham than Dick is and while I agree I also wanna add on:
Dick is shown actively struggling to keep Blüdhaven together.
he’s doing the best he can with the resources he has and is generally doing better than you would expect for a city with a worse crime rate than Gotham, but it’s not easy.
by the time he actually became Blüdhaven’s protector, he already had years of experience. because that’s the only way it is believable that he is able to basically be the Batman of another city without the same resources.
remember, Blüd was not Dick’s first city. if I recall correctly, he was first protecting NYC. a city he would not be helping completely solo.
basically: if you want to separate the Batkids from Gotham for whatever reason, put them in a city with other heroes first.

#Dick protecting Blüd alone is a fucking achievement and should be seen as such#what he is doing is not typical and should not be seen as just the next step for Gotham heroes#he is doing something insane#and he’s handling it way better than basically anyone else would#I’m not saying no other Bat would be able to do it but just that they should work up towards it#dick grayson#richard grayson#nightwing#batman#batfam#batfamily

I have a thought about Reverse Robins au
Basically I saw something about how Reverse Robins is just Robins with their names changed, so Damian has Dick's personality, Tim has Jason's and so on. Something else I'd like to point out is that most of the time they still all had used the name Robin which...I don't think they would have? If I remember correctly (Which I might not be so please correct me if I'm wrong), Robin was originally used because it was a nickname that Dick's mother had used for him which is one of the reasons why Dick gets so pissed at Bruce in one of their fights about Jason taking over the mantle.
With that being said I think that tension about being replaced wouldn't be as prevalent as it is in these fics, at least not in the sense of "Robin" but as siblings. I realize "replaced" isn't the right way to describe this in more of a sibling dynamic, what mean is when siblings get jealous of each other(typically of the younger siblings) when the attention of the parent/s moves off them, if that makes any sense.
Something else the post I saw pointed out was that we never see Steph, Duke, or Cass in these fics and like...why don't we??? It's almost like they don't exist at all, or maybe people are just forgetting about them because they're "not Robins"(even though Steph was Robin at one point but I won't get into that here).
One thing that I'd like to put out there; why is it just the robins/batfam being reversed? I'd love to see the other teams being reversed as well, superman, flash and arrow for example. Idk, I just think it'd be interesting if we branched out a bit to other families/teams with this same concept. I will say it is interesting to see Reversed Robins interacting with each others teams in the fics that branch out to it.
I guess that's one of my main things though, similar to the post I saw(which unfortunately I'm unable to find again) is that it's just the Robins..with their names being switched but keeping the personalities of the original order. I would love to see the dynamic change with the actual characters changing. Yes, Damian becomes the oldest and Dick becomes the youngest, but they're still Dick and Damian; two completely different characters with their own issues that wouldn't change to be like the other just because the order of their ages have changed. The same goes for Jason and Tim.
Idk, I just think that there are so many things that could be done in this au that isn't being taken advantage of. If they wouldn't be called Robin what would their names be, and if the order they're taken in by Bruce and their ages changed how would that affect their dynamic and their stories? Would their stories be changed drastically or would they stay relatively the same with only a few minor changes for it to make sense? Obviously there are parts that are integral to their character that can't/shouldn't be changed without changing the character too much, how would people work around that? How would their relationships with the people around them change, even if they're the only ones who's ages are being switch around or not? Again, there are so many things that could be done to make it more interesting in my opinion.
All this to say, I do love the Reverse Robins Au, I just wish people would take a little more creative liberty with it. I also would like to know other peoples thoughts on this as well.
