I talk a lot about the crappy dads, so tonight I will talk about the good ones! I'll start with Frank from The Dragons' Cosmos. He has three kids (Kurt, Noah, and Roxie) and struggled to raise them on his own after his wife left Hetarria (planet). Kurt tries to step in and help take care of his little brother and sister because Frank is so busy working. The family moved in with Dolores (Frank's mother) because of the long hours - rather days, because Frank drives a truck between cities - and to prevent them from being homeless when he could no longer afford the trailer they were living in. Frank did everything he could to alleiviate Kurt's sense of responsibility. He wanted all three of his kids to enjoy their childhood. He's a really caring father. His kids look forward to his brief stops into town, and he misses them dearly while he's gone. He's pretty excited when Noah and Roxie (never both at the same time, especially when they have to take care of Dolores too) are old enough and have no school for a few weeks, so he just rotates taking them with him on the road. It's kind of sad, though... He was a brilliant painter, and his scenic art is gorgeous, but he never has time to paint. :'( Glynn from SGH is Thaddeus's stepfather, and he's so kind. He's gentle and sweet, and he talks to Thaddeus frequently about all sorts of topics. They'll chat about fishing (Glynn is a fisherman) or books they read together, and Thaddeus has fond memories of sitting in front of the fire with his parents while they mend clothes or read. Ewan from The Hostile Credence is Niven's guardian. Niven's parents are dead (father never found, actually, but presumed dead), and Ewan takes him home and raises him as his own. They do have some difficulties during THC, because Ewan is a skeptic, and in this world... Well, some unusual things happen. It's a spoiler for the plot. Ewan also takes care of Seth, who is Niven's best friend. He doesn't believe in banning friendships, despite that she's a mischief maker, and instead says that Niven is perfectly capable of making wise decisions without her influence, and he won't blame Seth for it. He reaches out to her later on, and he buys her fruits and vegetables from around the continent so she can try new things. She spends a lot of time in his library, reading books, as she grows up. And he proves that maybe everyone should have been encouraging and supportive of Seth, rather than berating her all the time. So he's really a good father to two children. ;A; (Niven and Seth aren't a couple. Niven's gay, Seth's a lesbian, and they are best friends.) Then there's Stefan from Serrated Petals! He has two sons - a stepson (Roland) and a biological son (Stanley). While he tries hard to be a good parental figure for Roland (there are some fucked up reasons this doesn't work out), he's a pretty good daddy to Stanley. He'd fist fight Roland's father, Ernest, if he could get away with it. (Ernest is negligent and treats Roland like he's property, and that can lead to him suggesting harsh discipline when Roland doesn't act the way he wants him to, but luckily he doesn't have main custody of him, nor does he want to.) Roland doesn't like Stefan, though... Because Stefan made his mother, Minnie, less fun for Roland, and he liked their time together. And also Roland kind of found Stefan attractive, and it kind of sucks when the hot guy becomes your stepdad. (And then you push his buttons for attention, and uh... Roland has always been a strange one. His first and everlasting crush is Otto Brynner, who has murdered entire armies. Absolute villainfucker. I think Roland just likes fucked up relationships.) Stefan never picks up on this, and even when Roland's an adult, he tries to be supportive of him. ;A;

Thursday, 20 July 2023
Some days I complain that not much happened, giving me very little to include in a recap. Today is like the platonic ideal of one of those days (of our lives).
Talia, fresh from her community service job of “cleaning up the town square, since it’s only one of two exterior locations in this town and the other one is where people usually get mugged or do drug deals or whatever,” joins Jada at one of the two interior locations where you can have a meal with someone: the Brady pub.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that… is literally it. They spend their scenes recapping why Talia is doing community service and where Jada is now with the whole “got caught having an illegal office romance with Rafe and now he’s fired” thing.
Speaking of Rafe, he’s sitting in the newly-cleaned town square (thanks, Talia) and continuing to stall the federal marshals demanding to know why he hasn’t turned over the prisoner he promised to watch while she was on furlough. (That’d be Lani, and we’ll get more into that tomorrow.)
Tumblr media
I’ve only just barely started liking Rafe after watching him for hundreds of episodes, but it has finally started to happen. And as long as the person he shares the next set of scenes with doesn’t suck, that trend should continue.
Then Goddamn Johnny Motherfucking DiMera shows up, so never mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually, though… these scenes end up being pretty good! I have occasionally witnessed a friendship between these two that seemed a little odd to me in that “why is Marty McFly friends with Doc Brown?” way, but they actually mention here that Rafe was Johnny’s stepdad for awhile. Which definitely makes sense. Everyone’s married everyone in this town at some point.
Tumblr media
But yeah — they commiserate over their shared frustrations (Johnny being dumped by Wendy; Rafe being fired) and it’s all genuinely charming and entertaining! Well, for a Thursday anyway.
Wendy, meanwhile, was hoping to seal the deal with Tripp tonight but he has to cancel because of the whole “career that saves lives” thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So she slathers some goop  on her face and watches… some kind of sport on television?
Tumblr media
I would guess the sport is basketball, but my guesses in this area are easily discredited so you absolutely should not put any stock in them whatsoever. She could just as easily be watching tetherball for all I know. Does Irvine have a tetherball team?
But then Tripp shows up after all! He got someone to cover his shift so now here he is! Hooray!
So they begin the “Peacock and chill” ritual we’ve all heard so much about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then are almost immediately (Pea)cockblocked by Li, who comes home early from his date.
Tumblr media
Said date was with Melinda Trask, the district attorney. They shared a bonding moment over her favorite wine, so neither of them ended up storming out of the place in anger and frustration like we expected them to.
Tumblr media
They have some standard date-chat about favorite movies. Hers is Casablanca (not an imaginative choice, but it is a classic for a reason); his is The Godfather…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…TRILOGY. Which, if it came from any other character, might read as an unconventional pull. Maybe they can genuinely defend the universally panned third movie. Or maybe they’re just a contrarian.  But this is Li. He probably googled “popular movies,” saw The Godfather, then saw there were three movies and thought he would seem more human if he said he liked all of them.
As the date progresses, Melinda asks some more cute “getting to know you” questions, like “what was your actual involvement in the plot to kill Stefan DiMera?”
Tumblr media
She does follow this up with a hair twirl, a coy smile and a “tee hee, this is just between us!” but even Li isn’t falling for that one. He grabs for her purse and pulls out a recording device, which just happens to be rolling.
Tumblr media
So… yeah, now Li slumping home (to his extremely bizarre living arrangement with his sister and her boyfriend) and being very bummed out kind of makes sense now.
Then Melinda has one more beat — why can’t she ever seem to make this whole dating thing work?
Tumblr media
But because she’s a good performer, I ACTUALLY FOUND MYSELF FEELING BAD FOR HER ANYWAY.
There’s also a set of scenes where EJ rubs Nicole’s feet and offers moral support to his pregnant partner.
Tumblr media
What an unrepentant villain! Just a morally bankrupt scoundrel, devoid of any redeeming factors whatsoever!
Eric and Sloan also have some go-nowhere bits involving babies and maybe Sloan is pregnant?
Tumblr media
This will undoubtedly lead to some interesting drama down the road, what with all the Nicole-related complications… but we’re not there just yet.
And back at the pub, Johnny and Rafe join Talia and Jada.
Tumblr media
They enter as Jada is telling her sister how good Rafe is in the sack, which is a nice turnaround on the usual “walked in on the end of a conversation and misconstrued what I heard like I’m goddamn Mr. Roper” thing they’ve been doing lately.
So they talk privately and OH GOD BOTH TALIA AND JOHNNY WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT BEING SINGLE. AND THEY’RE ABOUT THE SAME AGE. THEY’RE GOING TO HOOK UP NOW, AREN’T THEY? GROSS GROSS GROSS
But instead, Johnny takes the opportunity to yell at Talia for the bad stuff she did and positions himself as Chanel’s guardian. (I was going to say “white knight” here but boy would that be a loaded expression under these circumstances.)
Tumblr media
And of COURSE that’s how this goes. Because one half-endearing scene notwithstanding, Johnny gotta Johnny.

I love Caroline Forbes DOWN, but my girl sure knows how to piss me off sometimes.
I legit can’t rewatch season 7 without getting irritated with her. How you gonna be mad at Stefan for leaving to go on the run? Babes, he wanted you to go with him and you turned him down to play house with your comatose best friend’s stepdad.
Be serious.

2,10, and 23 for the salty asks <3
omg i think you're gonna regret asking me, because this is so long 😬
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
Nancy Drew - Bess and Odette. She barely knew the lady! Give my queen some recovery period from her *ehm* HUNDRED YEARS OF TRAUMA before wanting to jump the bones of the body she's possessing RNM - It's weird, but Max and Anatsa. I could never picture them, even as a fling. TVD - Jeremy and Bonnie. when they were together, it was actually an illegal ship y'all. Jeremy was 16, and Bonnie was 18-19. I really wished they'd just bonded as a human connection to Elena and not... yk, ghost-shagged each other Gilmore Girls - LANE AND ZACH. where did they even come from? out of thin air that's where. Lane deserved her happy ending with Dave Rygalski and I will die on this hill. Teen Wolf - (brace yourself) Lydia and Parrish. Malia and Parrish. Melissa and Argent. wtf? at this point I'm pretty sure Jeff Davis just played chits and picked his ships randomly. All of Parrish's ships are ew (that's just his luck unfortunately) and Melissa with Peter would have been the best choice are you kidding me? ARGENT AND MELISSA'S KIDS WERE TOGETHER, and not even fwb-together. like SOULMATE together! Grey's Anatomy - Addison and Alex. They couldn't cash in major potential there. She was the right amount of bitchy to get him off his macho ass. Not everyone has to sleep with everyone Miss Shonda! Also, Teddy and Owen. They're best as friends, because (i hate to admit this) Teddy was right in s18 (was it 19, i think it was 19?) when she told Link to stay away from Jo because marrying best friends and then hating them in marriage is sad.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
RNM - Again, the Max-Anatsa storyline. It's like, again, they played chits with who she should be with. My Max is not the one-night stand kinda guy (which I'm proud of, representation of my soul) and him sleeping with Anatsa and then just dropping her is WACKY. Isobel and Anatsa were so much better, and had good development Nancy Drew - Park's arc. The writers had the potential in their very hands and chucked it themselves. Park as the ISM/FHK would have made so much sense, it would have been the best direction for his appearance. TVD - The entire Alaric x Caroline thing. HATED THAT. HATED THAT the way Ashley Ippolito hates Nate Jacobs. He's like 15 years older than her and IS HER BEST FRIEND'S STEPDAD. And the Alaric and Stefan pissing contest for Caroline. Dear writers you didn't give Caroline Forbes the Elle Woods arc she deserved to put her in this dump of a situation! Gilmore Girls - Married Dean cheating thing. "He's MY Dean" Rory honey go touch some grass and juggle some balls. He's fucking married and as your mother once said "Solidarity Sister". Lindsey wasn't all that bad, and she definitely deserved better than being cheated on at the age of 19. Teen Wolf - Argent and Melissa. Explained above. Notice how in the movie, Argent and Melissa didn't really have any romantic/close scene without a third wheel (thank God)? It's like Jeff Davis finally realized that oh shit, aren't their respective kids the main reason this all started? Grey's Anatomy - Jackson and Maggie. Just— NO.
23. Unpopular character you love?
Nancy Drew - everyone loves everyone in this one. so I can't really say anything divergent RNM - i think we love everyone right? TVD - VIncent Griffith (does he count? idk but I love his humor and badassery). Oh, and also Valerie Tulle. She was sweet while she lasted wasn't she? I honestly saw more in Stellerie than in Steroline (why you booing me when I'm right!) Gilmore Girls - Lindsey. Just because her taste in music is different from Rory and Jess's, doesn't mean she's not a good human. She tried so much to keep her marriage afloat, and I've never seen her be rude like Rory to Shane. Grey's Anatomy - Sam Bello (basically foetus Liz Ortecho) because she's the sweetest most bubbly thing after firecrackers in honey.
thanks for the ask man, omg i love being salty

Hi! As someone who’s literary opinion I really trust, I was surprised that you’re a twilight fan? I know almost nothing except commen knowledge things about that series, and I always assumed it was actually bad/un-feminist. What is it that you like so much that others seem to miss? I’m just genuinely curious about your take on the hate it always seems to get vs. it’s actual quality. I’m not gonna judge bc animorphs is also one of those books where you see it and assume it’s bad.
In over 14 years of loving this series, I’m not sure anyone has ever asked me why I enjoy it instead of simply trying to convince me that I’m wrong to do so.  So thank you for that.
First and foremost, I love the Twilight saga because of the vivid detail in Stephenie Meyer’s writing style.  The descriptions are so lush and dense with sensory information that you can practically bite down on them as you read.  Bella and Jacob aren’t just sitting on the beach; they’re sitting on a gnarled log of driftwood, worn smooth at the top from where so many Quileute teens have sat upon it during bonfires but still uneven enough to rock on its branches when Bella suddenly stands to rage at her own mortality.  Meyer describes that log in Twilight, so tangibly and with such economy of detail, that we recognize it immediately when Bella and Jacob return to that spot in Eclipse.  I’ve always disliked the movies, because I’ve always felt that the best part of Meyer’s writing simply did not translate well to the screen.
Secondly, I love the feminism.
Okay, let’s take a quick pause to let everyone gasp and clutch their pearls over me calling Twilight a feminist work.  I will address the criticisms later.  For now, please just hear me out.
Twilight strikes me as a premier example of what Hélène Cixous means when she calls for “women’s writing,” or writing for women, about women, by women, with a strong focus on the concerns and strengths and desires of womanhood.  This is a series about building and maintaining close relationships, both romantic and platonic.  It celebrates beauty, and love, and care.  Bella moves to Forks because she recognizes that her dad is lonely while her mom is quite the opposite, torn between family priorities.  She doesn’t simply subsume her interests to those of other people, but instead actively chooses how and when and where to express her love for her birth family and her found families.  Most of the other major decisions throughout the story — Alice “adopting” Bella, Carlisle moving the family to Alaska, Jacob becoming werewolf beta, the Cullens going up against the Volturi, etc. — are motivated by care and devotion for one’s family and friends.  Even the selfish or morally ambiguous character choices are shown to be motivated by love.  Rosalie tells Edward that Bella died because she genuinely thinks it’ll help him move on.  Victoria creates an army that nearly destroys Forks because she’s avenging James.  Alice abandons Bella and the others before the final battle because if she can’t save her entire family, then she’ll settle for saving her lover before letting him die in vain.
Not only is there a striking concern with love and care, but there’s also a strong commitment to avoiding violence.  Bella’s eventual vamp-superpower proves to be preventing violence and protecting others, an awesome character decision that I’d argue gets set up as early as the first book.  She lives in a violent world — this is a YA SF story, after all — but she has the power to suppress violence and create peace, both in herself and others.  I was already sick of “power = ability to inflict damage” in YA stories well before I knew the word “patriarchy.”  Twilight was one of the first books to convey to me that power could be refusing to do harm in spite of hunger or anger, that power could be shielding ones’ family, that power could be about building enough friendships and alliances to have an army at one’s back when facing an enemy too strong to take on alone.
Closely connected to all of that love and care, I love how much Twilight is about navigating teenage girlhood.  Is it empowering, intersectional, or all-inclusive?  Hell no.  Does it still dare to suggest that a completely ordinary teenage girl could have valid concerns about the world?  Yep.  The main conflict of the story, as Stephen King so derisively explained, is about the romantic entanglements of a teenage girl, and the book therefore has no literary merit.  (To quote my dad’s response: “Bold words from the guy who inflicted Firestarter on the world.”)
There is, indeed, a lot of romance in Twilight.  There are a lot of clothes.  Alice and Rosalie especially spend a lot of time on makeup, and hair, and choosing the prettiest cars and houses.  Twilight embraces all the stereotypically “girly” concerns of adolescence, and makes no effort to apologize for or condemn them.  Bella isn’t particularly good at performing them — she likes but doesn’t excel at shopping, fiercely defends her ugly car as ugly, hobbles through prom on crutches — but she can still enjoy the feeling of being pretty in a sparkly dress while dancing with her sparkly boyfriend.  And Twilight, like Animorphs with Cassie, takes the daring step of treating that feeling as valid.
Speaking of sparkles, I love the commitment to the fantasy concept in Twilight, including the myriad mundanities that Meyer brings with that commitment.  If you have super-speed, why not use it to play extreme baseball?  If you’re a mindreader with a clairvoyant sister, why wouldn’t you two play mental chess games?  I couldn’t tell you, after seven seasons of Buffy or eight of Vampire Diaries, what Spike or Damien or Angel or Stefan does all day when not brooding or lurking in the bushes to creep on human women.  I can tell you what the Cullens get up to.  Emmett and Rosalie work on their cars, usually by holding them overhead one-handed.  Carlisle and Alice read plays, and sometimes talk the whole family into home Shakespeare productions.  Edward and Carlisle debate theology, Emmett and Jasper have dumb athletic competitions, Edward and Esme play music, Alice manipulates stock markets, the twins go shopping online, etcetera.  The Cullens feel real, feel like the vampires next door, in a way that Louis and Lestat simply do not.
To get to the elephant in the room — I just described Twilight as a feminist text! — let’s talk about the other thing the Cullens do for fun: they have sex.  Weird sex.  Kinky furniture-breaking sex.  Sex that Emmett (who would know) compares to bear-wrestling.  These books suck with regards to queer representation, but they are sex-positive.  They feature an old-school Anglican protagonist offering his daughter-in-law a medical abortion.  They treat Edward’s desire for sex only within marriage and Alice’s desire for sex outside of marriage as both being valid.  Like I said, not groundbreaking, even by the standards of 2005, but still more than most teen novels do even today.
There’s a passage from Breaking Dawn that people love to pull out of context as “everything wrong with Twilight in two paragraphs” because it describes Bella waking up the morning after sex with bruises on her arms.  That moment is shocking out of context, to be sure — but in context, it’s the end result of an in-depth consent negotiation that lasts four books.  Bella says that she’d like to become a vampire.  Edward says okay, but only if she spends a few more years living as a human and considering that choice.  Bella says okay, but only if Edward, not Carlisle, becomes the one to turn her.  Edward says they can use his venom, but that Carlisle, who’s an MD, really needs to supervise the process.  Bella doesn’t love the idea of Edward’s stepdad cockblocking what’s supposed to be an intimate moment, and so agrees only on the grounds that she gets to have sex with Edward as a human first.  Edward’s hella Catholic, so he requests that they get married first.  Bella’s super horny, so she demands that the wedding happen within six months.  Edward says that he might hurt her during sex, and Bella says that she wants a little hurt during sex.  They marry.  They bang.  During the banging, Edward makes every effort to be controlled and courteous and gentile, while Bella goes wild and crazy.  The next morning, she has bruises and he does not.  Edward apologizes, but Bella’s actually really into it.  She spends a while admiring her sexy vamp-marked self in the mirror, touches the bruises many times, and reminds us yet again that Bella Swan’s whole M.O. is being a monsterfucker.  Her kink is not my kink, and that’s okay.
To be clear, I think there are other aspects of the romance that get criticized for good reason.  Edward does not negotiate with Bella before sneaking into her room to watch her sleep, and he does make unacceptable use of their power differences when he thinks she’s in danger of being mauled by werewolves.  The text condemns Jacob’s “don’t wanna die a virgin” ploy to manipulate a kiss out of Bella, but not the wider conceit of all the male characters as possessing uncontrollable urges.  Bella’s struggles to adjust to a new town feel very feminine and realistic; her amused tolerance of Jacob’s and Mike’s sexual harassment as the price for their friendship does not.  Werewolf imprinting might be mostly platonic, but that doesn’t make it okay for Meyer to depict it as a form of soulmate bonding that happens with child characters. Those are good points, all around.  I just wish that most of them didn’t come up in the context of post-hoc rationalizations for loathing the femininity of a feminine text.
I’m not calling Twilight an unproblematic series.  I’m saying that it gets (rightly!) criticized for appropriating Quileute culture, while Buffy’s total absence of main characters of color and blatant anti-Romani racism are (wrongly!) not remarked upon. I'm saying that I’ve been told I’m a misogynist for liking Twilight but not for liking James Bond.  I’m saying that there’s a reason people tend to go “oh, that makes so much sense!” when I let them in on the fact that reactive hatred for “Twitards” started and spread on 4Chan, later home of Gamergate and incel culture.  I’m saying that Twilight depicts problematic relationship dynamics as sexy — but then so do Vampire Academy, Blue Bloods, Supernatural, Vladimir Tod, and Vampire Diaries.  All of which take the time to stop and thumb their noses at Twilight, smug in the superiority of having vampires that fly rather than vampires that sparkle, and for thoroughly condemning teenage girls for being girly while continuing to show men inflicting violence on them.
After all, as Erin May Kelly puts it: “we live in a world taught to hate everything to do with little girls.  We hate the books they read and the bands they like.  Is there anything the world makes fun of more than One Direction and Twilight?”  No one has ever called me a misogynist for liking the MCU, in spite of less than a third of its movies even managing to clear the low-low bar of the Bechdel test.  Because people are still allowed to like Harry Potter in spite of its racism, or Lord of the Rings despite its imperialism.  Because hatred for Twilight was never about its very real sexism, or the genuinely silly sparkle-vampires, until it had to justify itself as something other than hate for everything that teenage girls have ever dared openly love.
I enjoy the novels, and I enjoy the fan fiction that tries to fix some of the problems with the novels.  I appreciate the extent to which Meyer has elevated fan culture, and made an effort to acknowledge her own past mistakes.  I would love to be able to talk about my love for the series as a flawed but beautiful work of literature, but for now I’ll settle for asking that the world just let me enjoy it in peace.

Damon Salvatore x Hayley Marshall Headcanons
Tumblr media
A little post for the best we never had.
- The BADDEST couple on the show, by a long shot.
- If you touch one of them, the other comes in guns blazing.
- Werewolf/vampire dynamic and jokes.
- “My favorite leech,” “my girlfriend and dog.”
- But if anyone else makes these jokes, it’s instant death.
- They’re a chaos duo but if Damon crosses a line, Hayley calls him on it every time. (Which he needs!)
- They started out as a fling, became friends and fiercely protective of each other.
- Alaric: “How long have you been dating Hayley?”
- Damon: “We? Aren’t? Dating????”
- They’re about to go beat up a bad guy together, and I love you please don’t die is on the tip of both their tongues but neither will say it.
- Then one of them almost dies and it is a very tearful confession, to say the least.
- Damon chaining Hayley up before full moons and always staying by the door.
- She begs him to leave, of course, but he’s never able to.
- Besides, they always have Klaus’s blood on hand after one too many incidents of Damon getting bitten by werewolves.
- “I’d rather die than leave you alone.”
- Said by literally either of them.
- Yes, they get a wedding.
- Yes, it’s the most gorgeous wedding ever. (Planned by Caroline.)
- Damon strolls in to torture some bad guys.
- Bad guys are scared, of course, because Damon Salvatore is a monster. But could be worse, right?
- “You won’t respond to me? How about MY WIFE?”
- Hayley Salvatore is a cool name.
- Damon hates himself for a lot of things he’s done, but the best thing he ever did was love Hayley.
- (And Hope, of course.)
- Damon tries to be the best stepdad he can be (Klaus approves because he and Damon are some of THE most overprotective people on the planet and anyone that protects Hope is okay by Klaus).
- (I know this is irrelevant but Stefan being Hope’s uncle and spoiling her. Aunt Caroline and Uncle Stefan and 🥺🥺)
- DAMON AND HAYLEY DAMON AND HAYLEY DAMON AND HAYLEY
This... was supposed to be a crackship but I caught Feelings for it so do with that what you will.

Its kind of funny how little Lizzie knows about the Salvatore School. Like she told Sebastian she THINKS its named after Stefan and Damon Salvatore as if Stefan wasn’t their mom’s husband, their stepdad, whose death was a direct result of him protecting her and Josie (they were 4 but still) and that Damon isn’t their dad’s friend who cared enough about them to give them his iconic car.
Yeah, it's very strange. I think it's probably the writers just not caring enough to bother showing a real connection, because Stefan would be more to them than just the guy the memorial library and possibly the school is named after. And Damon's still alive, was once best friends with Alaric, and is technically Caroline's brother-in-law, not to mention married to their sort of foster/adopted/step sister, so. Bit odd that Lizzie (and Josie) doesn't seem to know that much about them.

The New Rulers of Mewni (Reset Restart AU)
A Humble Doctor (Chris) and a Wandering Warlock (Stefan)
Meet Chris and Stefan, an odd duo that successfully took the throne. Here’s what they look like currently as in the past, they’re far from looking like this.
Also, Chris is Shauna’s biological father and Stefan is her magical stepdad.

I drew up references for Gwen’s family. Here’s some info about them under the cut:
Lucius is Gwen’s stepdad and also her ex-boyfriend. He still has feelings for her and loves/attracted to the ‘danger’ she represents. Way too handsy. Lucius and Sanja don’t have much money and find themselves crashing at Rosa and Brianna’s house. Lucius works as a pizza delivery boy.
Sanja is Gwen’s biological mom, she wasn’t in her life until she was a teenager. Sanja tries to emulate her daughter’s looks and etc. (Partially because her husband still has a thing for his ex.) They’re in an open and swinger type of relationship. Sanja doesn’t work as she believes the man should take care of the woman.
Rosa is Gwen’s biological aunt and adoptive mother. She and Brianna raised Gwen to the best of their abilities. She jumped at the chance to raise Gwen. She prefers a quiet life and works at as a hairdresser. Rosa’s (and Brianna)and Gwen’s relationship worsened over time as they did not approve of Gwen’s lifestyle. It does eventually get better. Kinda.
Brianna is Gwen’s aunt and Rosa’s wife. She’s often the more logical of the couple where Rosa acts more on emotion. Just like Rosa, she prefers a nice quiet life and is a manager at one of the Impressions. (The one where you ‘meet up’ with Stefan. She was in the backroom at the time and Gwen did not tell her about her involvement in it.)

here’s a list of lizzie saltzman’s headcanons that i’m too lazy to post separately
lizzie honestly isn’t the biggest fan of the town local kids. like yeah, she grew up in mystic falls and knows a big chunk of them because of school from when they were younger ( before boarding school. ) when lizzie set fire at school, the local kids made fun of her and made her feel like a freak. they’re just a peeve to be around like??? no get away
lizzie and josie have the biggest room in the boarding school because it’s the room stefan had made for them when they were little girls. when he knocked down one of the walls to combine their rooms so their beds could be put together. till this day, never changed. it’s still their room and their beds are still right next to each other. it’s the one memory lizzie keeps of him in her heart. the fact stefan was willing to do something like knock down a wall for her and josie so the two could be side-by-side, that’s the type of things she TREASURED. stefan salvatore was her favorite ‘ uncle ’ / stepdad and lizzie really does miss him and the family dynamic they could have had.
lizzie is an extremely book and street smart girl. the thing is she HATES flaunting how smart she actually is and is only placed in accelerated classes for the simple fact alaric and caroline know how great she is academically. lizzie’s BIGGEST problem is she doesn’t put her full effort into anything assigned. for example, TESTS. while everyone is studying, she’ll procrastinate till the night and just ace the material. she publically DENIES her intelligence, but street smarts? this girl is definitely your go-to. interpersonal and observational skills were mastered from a young age and if she was to be stranded in BFE? lizzie would survive because she’s a survivalist. she’ll choose street smarts over book smarts any day.
lizzie is the unorganized, messier twin in every way shape and form. her room, her backpack, her car, hell, even her damn life is a mess. that’s just the way lizzie has always liked it because even though everything looks chaotic from the outside, she knows how to handle and maintain her shit.
when lizzie heard the truth behind seline, sybil, kai, and even kelly donovan, she was honestly HEARTBROKEN with obviously seline doing the most damage. she trusted her because of seline yet watched sybil kill a man after lizzie siphoned her out of anger. kai tried to cut off their head with an axe, kelly donovan tried to blow them up in a house, and then seline, the person who she loved and adored wholeheartedly, was actually manipulating the girls so they would become the next missionaries for the devil. it was a lot to process and the fact she already struggled trusting others? yeah, these events were clear reminders of why lizzie’s inner circle is so small.
when they’re together, josie does more of the talking while lizzie does more of the silent judgement and questioning. the only time you’ll ever hear a peep out of her is if you cross a line with josie, she truly needs to put in her input, or an opening for sass. lizzie prefers to stay silent because when she isn’t with josie? her foots in her mouth 24/7.
