The first verse of The Parting Glass sung a cappella for @elodieunderglass :) Using my bass range for good (and a little bit of evil, if the role calls for it). Featuring a little bit of a growl on the low D if I'm honest.

#my voice #quantum sings #audio #i sing this one in e minor whereas the wellermen version is actually up a half step in f minor #so it is a little lower than that one actually #i have a lighter tone color though. more of a lyric bass. def not a basso profundo #but i can kind of fake it with technique #hmu if you want me to growl on your low D-- *is dragged offstage by one of those old timey shepherd's crooks*#(don't actually do this. it's just a bit)

AA localization is something that in most cases enriches characterization, but sometimes the context on the original Japanese script gives something really intriguing as well

We all know Manfred von Karma is a perfectionist, and in almost every his line we are reminded of it. He even set his ATM card number to 0001. So an ummovable object in terms of superiority complex

I like the Japanese version of this moment as well if not more, though. There, Manfred's card number is 4649 which by the rules of Japanese wordplay means yoroshiku or "nice to meet you". He also points that this is not an actual date (thanks). It makes him look like a lot more whimsical guy who just isn't 100% of time serious, which I'd personally take over the "hee hee I'm number 1" thing (because let's be real, it's not that funny and falls a bit flat)

It's a really minor detail, but where else people are gonna pick up some bits about Manfred's personality aside from being a perfectionist asshole? Even for a cartoonish villain MVK is often positioned as it's really interesting to peek into other sides of his personality

#i also remember seeing a japanese lawyer playing aa and gushing that mvk probably wanted to finish the trial in 3 minutes #because he wanted to play with his grandchildren #which adda oddly wholesome tones #all in all its interesting to step aside from usual fanon interpretations once in a while dontcha think #ace attorney #manfred von karma #meta

#orange cassidy #wrestling #my file says 1h work time but i feel like 60% of that was just noodling with the tone pattern settings (as usual)#i dont like working with the separate tone layers... doing anything that isnt binary with layer masks in csp kinda sucks #i wish it treated it like a separate black and white image you can step into/colorpick grays from like in photoshop #in the meantime i just use the tone layer property effect on a regular layer. maybe i should try it out on a group?#im so lazy i dont like bothering with multiple layers tho. always on my single layer bullshit

I had a really nice moment today... a sweet old lady (we think she must've been in her 90's) called my work mistaking us for a printing place (it was the same number but her phonebook was at least a decade out of date) and when I explained we were an escape room, she got a bit embarrassed and explained that she couldn't use a computer or a smartphone and that she really just needed help photocopying some postcards.

We had customers in, but I was like "I can help!" and googled an address for her and read her out the number on the phone. She then spent the next five minutes complimenting and chatting to me and then the next fifteen minutes talking to my manager about how good an employee I was. I am reportedly "A light in a dark world" all because I'd googled a company for her. Brb crying forever THANK YOU OLD LADY WE LOVE YOU

We're gonna call her back tomorrow and follow up to see if she was able to get her postcards photocopied but in the meantime the work group chat is discussing what title to give her (for most of us our job title is riddlemaster officially, our managers have been unofficially dubbed riddlelord and riddlebaron). Currently we're thinking riddledame or riddleduchess.

#Apparently she told my manager to pass on to me something along the lines of ''never let anyone hold you back''#and something about greener pastures? or grass? or something #anyway I needed that today. sigh i know dr. stone isn't perfect but I love it so so much because no other series gives me so many ideas and what-ifs to think about. it's good as is, of course. but honestly with this premise and these characters, if it could slow down and explore all the things it touches on briefly, it could've been phenomenal

#the tone would need to change for more serious and less of a whimsical educational #so it wouldn't be the same anymore😔#and i know the pacing towards the end is intentionally fast #like i get it it serves a purpose #i respect their decision #but still imagine 500+ chapters of characters interacting #of senku struggling with each step #of internal conflicts and doubts and revelations and character development #dcst #dr. stone #dr stone #sanderscat txt
