I was clearing out my youtube history and saved, and found puppet history there. I loved buzzfeed unsolved (and Ryan and Shane by proxy) since I was around 14, which is more than half a decade ago now. I have very fond memories of watching it on call with my an old long distance best friend, who is probably the closet friend I've ever had, and how she would laugh at me because of how scared I was. Later on, I would play the mathorons all the time whenever I needed background noise or some nostalgic comfort, and I followed them to their new channel and loved all their shows. The weekly episodes were my little treat between study for my final exams in school.
Anyway, I haven't interacted with them at all since they did an ad for temu and I don't regret or miss it all. I closed the video and unsubscribed as soon as they sponsorship started. Literally haven't thought of them or any of their shows since. Bye bye.

refreshing myself on the exact real prices for the kind of work that goes into these graphics was a mistake now i'm remembering why i didn't do it for years lol
#pay no attention to the man behind the curtain / ooc.#for those who aren't aware of freelance artist pricing: i've spent a whole day on a single graphic before#and the suggested base rate for a beginner graphic designer is $20-25ish an hour (i didn't see much about a flat rate for a single product)#and i also looked at illustration prices since that's adjacent#and i know it can be more project based in it's pricing and for just a small black and white spot illustration (like a chapter topper)#was on this one association's pricing guide over $250 dollars#and then i see the prices in the rp comm for gorgeous things i know are multiple hours of work going for $2-30-ish dollars#and it's just so galling. getting paid as a freelance artist is already very fraught this just feels like a kick in the teeth#even if someone's doing commissions as a hobby for pocket money i believe they deserve fair compensation for their hours of labor and skill#but i don't think the pricing in this market is ever gonna change so i just gotta get used to it or stay out lol

#in no way do I think tumblr is going down anytime soon#but i’ve realized I’ve always had an naive sort of idea that tumblr would be a constant in my life and forever evolve as I grow#it is just that intertwined with the way i use the internet. i have been here nearly every day since a month after i turned twelve#like i hope this isn’t pathetic to admit but this place was and is a cornerstone of my adolescence#tumblr is my word of mouth. it is my fandom home base. it is my diary sometimes#and it’s not that I can’t learn to use another platform. it’s that the continuity is important to me#my blog is a stream of every love and passion and obsession of my entire teenage hood and as of now the beginning of my adulthood#the thought of having to move somewhere new and break off from this massive and fundamental chunk of my life is hugely upsetting#not to mention my mutuals! and everyone I follow! it’s impossible to round everyone up again if. god forbid. we all have to leave here#and of course blah blah blah everything in life is temporary learn to accept change yada yada#but it’s been part of me long enough where i have a hard time picturing how i could even go about leaving this behind#anyway. nothing bad is happening yet.
