The rehearsal space resonated with the haunting melody of music as instruments intertwine, creating an otherworldly symphony. Aether, the gentle giant with ethereal features, plucked his guitar, while Dewdrop, smaller and with an aura of passion and a temperamental nature, strums his. Emitting a fierce energy. They exchange knowing glances, their unspoken bond evident.

The final notes fade into the air, and a serene silence envelops the room. Aether set his guitar down, his eyes reflecting a tinge of sadness. Turning to face the other ghoul, his voice gentle yet laced with an otherworldly timbre.

"Dewdrop, we gotta talk…"

The fire demon raised an eyebrow, setting down his own instrument. "What's the matter, Aeth? You good?"

Aether took a deep breath. Approaching Dew, their height difference accentuated in this moment. Dewdrop crossed his arms, preparing himself for what his friend is about to say.

"My little fire lily, I have to leave for a while. There are some matters in the infernal realm that I need to attend to." He fumbled with the silver chain bracelet on his wrist.

The smaller ghoul immediately got defensive. Brows furrowing. "Leave? But we have gigs lined up, Aether! You can't just bail on us!"

The quintessence ghoul placed a hand on his shoulder, radiating tranquility, attempting to soothe him.

"I promise it's only temporary. I won't let the band down. I just have some things I need to take care of. It's all talked through with Papa. A replacement already got organized"

Dews anger subsided slightly, though his frustration lingered. "...Alright. But why now? Why does it have to happen now? Couldn't you tell me sooner?"

Aether gazed deeply into Dewdrops eyes, his face painted with affection and vulnerability. Almost whispering, he spoke up again. "Dew, our existence has been entwined for what felt like an eternity. We have summoned melodies together, shared our dreams and nightmares. And… I have fallen for you. I love you with a depth beyond mortal comprehension."

The fire ghouls eyes widened in astonishment. Shifting with a mixture of surprise and tenderness. The upsetting red glow from moments earlier fading into his usual sunset gradient. Blinking a few times.

"Aether... I had no idea…"

The tall one mustered his courage, his voice brimming with emotion. Hesitant. "I know I should have said something sooner, but I was afraid of losing you if you didn't feel the same way. I couldn't leave without telling you how I truly feel."

Dewdrop immediately reached out, his touch filled with newfound softness, cradling Aether's face gently. "I-I've been holding onto such feelings for so long too. You big, gentle giant. Fuck, I never thought I would have any chance. I mean. You're you and I am just.. me. What could I even give you?"

A genuine smile graced Aethes lips as relief washed over him. He enveloped Dewdrop in his arms, drawing him into an embrace that transcends mortal touch, their essence melding seamlessly.

"You're all I need. I don't want to leave you, little droplet, but I have to do this. Promise me you'll be here when I come back?"

Nuzzling against Aethers chest he huffed. Mumbling into the fabric of his shirt. "Of course dumbass. I'll be right here, waiting for you. We'll pick up where we left off… And discuss.." He vaguely gestured between them. "This."

"Sounds just fine to me."

They held each other, their bodies swaying gently to the rhythm of their hearts. In that moment, the world outside the rehearsal space faded away, leaving only the love and connection between two souls who have found solace in each other's embrace.

So, I've been trying to get back to working out, it's been a few months since I've got hurt, I tried stopping for full weeks at a time, tried just practicing the martial arts but it seems time off doesn't really help. So I'm back to working out but with lightweights and high repetitions, which is a bit demotivating for me, feels like I'm doing weights for cardio lol, but it's still better than standing still.

I try reminding myself that it's a phase and to keep on walking as Bruce Lee used to say when he got hurt, just keep on flowing, keep on walking, things will eventually get better.

so, i hit 1k sometime in the beginning of June ✨🥳. Which means my incessant yapping about absolutely nothing on every post I make and multiple months-long unannounced hiatuses didn't scare all of you off yet, so thanks for that y'all.

still i think the one of the more fun differences drawn between illario and lucanis that was lost would be illario's ability to endear himself to others but serious lack of empathy, vs. lucanis' (self perceived) inability to be charming but how much he cares. it's interesting that the game has gone with the "lucanis' ability vs illario's lack thereof" because i think illario being the dellamorte 'best in show dog' vs. lucanis' attack dog would have made me so unwell.

lucanis is... awkward. he's not unlikable, because he is usually very polite, but he doesn't speak much and only seems to care about the other dellamortes. he once sent viago de riva a knife with no note (who knows what he could have meant by this). he does what caterina asks of him, and by his own admission, cannot say no to her. he is a dramatic and prolific killer, and that makes how untouchable he is even worse.

and the crows like illario, sure, AND he's a good assassin! he's even a good crow! he's so good that he can make lucanis smile, and so he is the charming, sociable one. he's the one that stays in treviso and can be relied upon to care, illario's even the one people prefer over caterina and lucanis!

but illario is decoration. he's the prize poodle, and even if poodles were bred to be working dogs, nobody will ever pick him to protect the house over the german shepherd that regularly mauls intruders. anyways the analogy is getting away from me. the point i'm trying to make is that i want illario to have a different kind of jealousy/hatred that's not just over 'being bad at killing' but also an arrogant loathing for everyone around him that is getting harder to hide, because they've forgotten he can bite and is just itching to rip someone's jugular out. illario is very good at hiding his family resemblance to caterina, while lucanis suffers under his grandmother's, and his own, reputation.

Okay hear me out. Batfamily, ugly Christmas sweater addition.

Bruce Wayne:

No doubt in my mind his children forced him into it. As soon as Dick mentioned wearing ugly sweaters on Christmas Day he found this monstrosity sitting in his closet. He chucked it out. He forgot about it. The next week it was back. He threw it out again. Two days passed. It was back. He tried shredding it, burning it, burying it in the backyard. It reappeared each time. Needless to say, it was still there on Christmas and he reluctantly wore it to the delight of everybody.

Jason Todd:

He wanted absolutely nothing to do with what Dick had planned… at first. Then he realised it was a great opportunity to piss Bruce off. Funny enough, it didn’t work as he hoped as Bruce was just happy he was there.

Tim Drake:

Wanted nothing to do with it and still wants nothing to do with it. Chose the first thing on the rack. Would’ve given Young Justice the chance to chose he sweater but he doesn’t trust them to NOT get him something horrendous.

Dick Grayson:

Planned this whole thing just to wear this monstrosity he found while doom scrolling on Instagram reels (he has adhd and is a millennial, he sure as hell isn’t on TikTok BUT dopamine go brrr). His siblings hate him. He loves it.

Damian Wayne:

This boy FOUGHT like one of those cats being forced into a costume. He clawed and begged and weaponised crying. Dick cackled at him until he had it on. He stayed on Dicks shoulders for the rest of the night. They did not talk for a month after.

He will stab anyone who brings it up.

Stephanie Brown:

Okay picture this in hot pink. She immediately locks onto some sort of meme when Dick mentions ugly sweaters. She finds this ugly ass sweater and steals Bruce’s credit card to get it.

Cassandra Cain:

Stephanie immediately calls Cass with plans. She happily agrees. She helps Steph steal Bruce’s credit card and proudly pulls Steph around to show the whole family their matching sweaters. A photo of them recreating the meme with their matching sweaters spreads around the web for at least a week.

Barbra Gordon:

Along with this sweater, Barbs places a USB stick containing a compilation of epic patrol failures in each of the Bat’s Christmas stockings. She wants to keep them on their toes (and adequately afraid of her). It is effective.

Duke Thomas:

Same vain as Steph. Instantly clocked in on memes and found this bad boy. Shows up with yellow temporary dye on his hair and old-lady sunglasses from the dollar store. Whenever he faces the slightest inconvenience he asks to speak to the manager. It becomes a bit where the manager changes each time and becomes crazier than the last.

Alfred Pennyworth:

Motherfucker would not wear a ugly sweater no matter how much the children begged. And the children did beg (Damian had to pull out the puppy dog eyes for this one). Jason was actually the fucker who made him cave pulling out all the stops, “it’s my first Christmas with everyone since I… you know.”, “it would be nice to have something special to remember it you know?”, “I remember my first Christmas in the manor. I just want to feel that happy again.”

Jason comes prepared with the sweater and Alfred knows he’s lost (but he doesn’t really seem to mind when he sees all the smiling faces on Christmas Day).
