Easy Plants To Grow for Beginners
Some easy plants to grow for beginners are:
Sunflowers are bright and cheerful flowers that can grow up to 6 feet tall. They need plenty of sun and water but are OK with soil quality. They also produce edible seeds that you can enjoy as a snack. You can learn more about sunflowers from this website.
Pansies: These colorful and hardy flowers can withstand cold and heat. They need rich and well-drained soil and regular watering, but they can tolerate partial shade. They bloom in spring and fall, and they attract butterflies and bees. You can learn more about pansies from this website.
Marigolds are bright and cheerful flowers that can grow in various sizes and colors. They need full sun and well-drained soil but are drought-tolerant and pest-resistant. They bloom from spring to frost and can help repel nematodes and other harmful insects. You can learn more about marigolds from this website.
Radishes are crunchy and spicy root vegetables that can grow in as little as three weeks. They need loose, fertile soil and consistent moisture, but they can grow in containers or raised beds. They come in different shapes, sizes, and colors and are rich in vitamin C. You can learn more about radishes from this website.
Tomatoes are juicy and flavorful fruits that can grow in pots or on the ground. They need warm temperatures, full sun, and regular watering, but they are easy to start from transplants or seedlings. They come in different varieties, such as cherry, beefsteak, or Roma, and they are versatile for cooking or eating fresh. You can learn more about tomatoes from this website.
Zucchini: These are prolific and easy-to-grow summer squash that can produce many fruits. They need warm temperatures, full sun, and rich soil but are fast-growing and low-maintenance. They come in different shapes, sizes, and colors and are great for grilling, baking, or making zoodles.

Late night wishful thinking but like
I think planting funky things around retention ponds should be more normalized!!
Like okay I get it retention ponds are meant to hold the runoff water from parking lots and drive throughs and the like so they aren’t exactly the cleanest water around. But like!!! Maybe this is different in other areas, but the only plants I ever see grow around retention ponds are cattails!! Which, like, are fine and great and dandy lets go cattails, but like
Where’s the whimsy?? Where are the flowers?? If I’ve got to see retention ponds whenever I go to a store or drive down the highway or pick up food for my mom, at least bring in some flowers!!
And it’ll benefit so much! A wider variety of plants can make it a more welcoming home to wildlife! Maybe the plants will filter some of the runoff stuff and the water can then be nicer for even more wildlife! Maybe the flowers can be a nice food source for butterflies and bees on their journeys and day trips!! And humans like seeing things be pretty!
Maybe its easier said than done! Maybe most places already do this and its just my city or state that doesn’t really I’d be willing to believe that! But lets get some color in these goddamn retention ponds!!
Swamp milkweed! Aquatic milkweed! Pickerelweed! Water lilies! Irises! Cardinalflower! Fuck it, put some goddamn duckweed in there!! Get some color in those things or so help me!!
