THE MAP IS OUT!! Here's my individual part for it, along with my credit image! I'm so happy to have been able to work with such cool collaborators on this project, this was so fun! :D <33

WIP and fun facts below the cut!

First pass of my part!

General Notes: - All of us had a cut-off frame so Sammy (our MAP host!) had space to transition shots! the stick in my cut-off is my oc Lixy <3 - As always, I don't have an actual animation program. Each frame of this was individually drawn in Clip Studio, saved as PNGs, and meticulously arranged in a video editing software. it took a while and a headache. the software crashed 4 times hdkjh </3 - The process was sketching, lining, then compiling it all together! Line art took the most time (because i don't like lineart hkjdh) - Fun fact, all of the sketches (seen in the wip above) were all drawn on my first plane ride ever :> <3 - The background is Alan's animation program that I took from a screenshot from AVA 6 :> I didn't want to do anything too complex for it ;w; <3 - All of the slide transitions were done manually! It may look like tweening, but I don't have a program that can do tweening lmao :'> <3 Each of the slidings was individually 3-6 frames of moving them across the frame, a single frame of stretch for movement, then a settling frame before the next stick slid in. - Green is doing air guitar as they slide in :3 <3 - My Blue design has a hat that can magically change into a Witch hat (when potion making), Chef hat (when cooking) or Sunhat (when gardening <33 - Purple looks nervous after he crashes into everyone, like they're expecting to be in trouble, but smiles and laughs when everyone else does. You can see Blue with their hands up, reassuring Purple. - Originally Yellow didn't move as much in the final laugh scene, but I saw the first frame of the person after me (@/sleptonce!) which had Yellow in a little crouch :> i adjusted Yellow to match the next frame a little better! - Also Yellow's hair is flipped from the way I usually draw it because I felt it worked better this way hgkjh <3 - (I totally didn't forget my Second's design has green eyes and had to edit those frames very quickly hfkjh <33) - The only colors that aren't the stick's original colors are when Blue's hat falls on Purple, and Red's yellow bandana <3 (These are also the only movement animation in the blinking sequence!) - Adding Alan's cursor was a literal last minute decision, he was never in any of the sketches, I literally added him in 15 minutes before submitting my part hgkjh <33 I think after my shot, Alan helps gently pick them up <3 - My suit in the credits is mostly red and orange, because my favorite sticks are Red and Second! <3 The rainbow cape reflects how I enjoy the color gang the most though hkjdh <33

Darry can tell who walked into the house depending on the sound of the door. Every member of the gang has an entrance that can be very easily missed.

Dally slams the door open and doesn't bother to close it behind him.

Steve opens the door and then slams it behind him, then goes to bother whoever is closest.

Johnny is almost always following someone so if the door stays open a bit longer and is quietly shut then Johnny has followed them in.

Two-Bit is similar to Steve except he dusts off his shoes. His mama always gets onto him tracking dirt so it's a habit.

Ponyboy quietly opens the door and shuts it behind him and usually calls out a I'm home. Or he's completely quiet except for the fact he stomps without realizing it.

Sodapop is almost always excited when he gets home so he accidentally slams the door into the wall and apologizes. He also usually announces he's home.

Darry just wishes they would stop slamming the door, it hurts the door and he's not exactly itching to fix the hinges.

I got suuuuper hyper-fixated on starlight express when they switched Greaseball, the douchey male character into a douchey butch woman. I would happily be tied up on the track, a damsel in distress if it was this train coming down the tracks

Plus I love drawing ladies with muscles, and this was practically an invitation.

Darry having terrible anxiety after the events of the book

Pony coming home from a spontaneous walk around town to see the sunset to find Darry on the verge of tears, tearing a hand through his hair while Soda sits next to him. Soda trying to calm him down and Darry bursts into happy sobs once he sees Pony. Darry doesn't usually cry but this is always his breaking point.

Darry getting up in the middle of the night, convinced Pony must have left him. Or Soda was upset with him and didn't tell him and had just run off. Convinced he was a little too harsh on them and running to look into their bedroom. Just to be comforted by the sight of Pony and Soda, hugged together and snoring lightly.

Darry who can still be a bit harsh on Pony for forgetting too many homework assignments or crashing into stuff since he "always got his head in the clouds". But whenever Pony gets upset and runs to his room, Darry has to be held back by Soda. Darry insisting he just needs to make sure Pony hasn't squeezed through the window and run off.

Soda getting annoyed by something Darry keeps doing and Darry getting on to him. But a couple hours later Darry comes to the bedroom door frame and asks several times that Soda isn't upset with him. Until eventually Soda just hugs him while laughing, telling Darry to stop worrying so much. And Darry just ruffling his hair and saying ok, though his hand is still shaking and his thoughts are still racing.

Darry trying to be the relaxed older brother a teen Ponyboy needs. Pony telling him he's just taking a trip around town with some friends and Darry just flashing him a thumbs-up. Though everything in him is screaming to keep Pony home and safe.

Darry's stomach dropping to his feet every time there's a police siren nearby. Not like, panic attack inducing. But Darry's breathing quickening at the flashes of the red and blue lights.

Two-Bit mentioning his kid sister is running around town with some friends and Darry just about taking him by his jacket because "YOU'RE JUST LETTIN HER RUN AROUND LIKE THAT?!" but instead just asking calmly if she has a curfew.

He keeps his emotions inside pretty well. Keeping up his strong demeanor and locking his feelings away. But sometimes he wishes he could just drop to his knees and scream.
