A late-entry 2022 update for Sith Obi-Wan! Recklessly provoked by @silmairon who sent me kind words about my art progress on the 2020 version. 💕

Ok new pinned post for whatever post-Twitter life might look like.
In the tags are my fandoms- not active fandoms, just fandoms that I consider near and dear to my heart. I am likely to post content related to any of those fandoms, but I should clarify: don’t follow me if you think I’m going to post lots about one specific fandom (cough 1D cough). I won’t, unless something absolutely mind-blowingly major happens (they get back together or the bears come back- that’s the entire list). (The same goes for spn unless Sep finally finishes Game Of God and then I won’t shut up).
This blog has always been and always will be an absolute shitshow of a mixed bag of memes, shitposting, and various fandom ephemera, so if that’s what you’d like, stick around. I have been here a long time and it shows. Also, I will not tag my shit in any organised way (except for spoilers within about a fortnight of something coming out) so don’t ask me to. I’m too adhd for that shit, sorry.
Fic is on ao3- link in bio.

Hey, Lily. Since I know you search your own name on alt accounts. Let me say a few things:
.Steven Universe is a hopepunk masterpiece about loving yourself and loving others. It was never about Nazism, white supremacy, sexualizing minors or pacifism.
.She-Ra is a beautiful love story that does NOT promote abuse or incest.
.The Owl House got even more awesome as it became more serialized.
.Baldur's Gate III is one of this generation's greatest games and a worthy successor to Bioware's Baldur's Gate celebrated duology.
.Hunter, Astarion and N are NOTHING like Kylo Ren.
.Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is NOT a "rip-off of Kingdom Hearts."
.Fantasy action-adventure is awesome.
.The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film alongside The Empire Strikes Back and both are better then any of the prequels combined.
Come on then. Send me an ask, I even have the anon option turned on.

i love it that you reblogged the “get to know the blogger” post bc i saw you reblog a lot of “le belle et la bete” gifs and was curious about your general taste/favourite films 👁️👁️
this is going to be so long i'm sorry but i just love talking about it so let's start!
i'm going to highlight some of the movies from my favourites list on letterboxd aka the movies that butter my bun:
— Skyfall (2012) and 1917 (2019) both directed by Sam Mendes are honestly great movies with Skyfall for me being the best Bond movie and 1917 as one of the best war movies. What made 1917 one of my favourites was the watching it at cinema experience plus the reveal in the end is just *chef's kiss*
— Tarantino movies. Like that's it. I know a lot of ppl don't like him but for me he's one of the best writers and sure has his problems but you cannot deny his work is great. Inglorious Basterds for me take the cake as his best movie with Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill: Part I being up there as well. One of his underrated movies is definitely Jackie Brown which I've loved.
— Period dramas. Another one of my fave genres. Emma. (2020) being one of my favourite movies. Emma (2009) is also a great adaptation albeit it is a series. Pride and Prejudice (2005) and (1995) are great as well. Little Women has recently grown on me way more and remains my favourite Greta Gerwig movie. Another underrated movie for me is Ophelia which as the title says focuses more on Ophelia from the play Hamlet. It's really well done and I've enjoyed watching it.
— This one is also a period drama but it is a bollywood movie so I wanted to highlight it. Jodhaa Akbar is a MUST watch such a good movie it's insane like I'm sorry you have a sword fight sequence between two lovers and you have won me over.
— Let's get franchises out of the way. Obviously Marvel movies are some of my favourites with Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: Ragnarok which are in my top 3. Both Black Panther movies and Spider-man: No Way Home are taking honourable mentions. For their series my favourite has been Moon Knight. (Sony gets their cookies for Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse and obviously Venom because come on now eddie and venom are otp y'all don't get it like i do)
— Next big franchise is Star Wars. Original trilogy: Empire Strikes Back. Prequel trilogy: Revenge of the Sith (I'm an Anakin girlie unfortunately) and Sequel trilogy: The Last Jedi (Rian Johnson supremacy). Series: Obi-wan Kenobi (i cried). Honourable mention to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (i also cried).
— Since I mentioned Rian Johnson let's expand on that because the man just gets movies and everyone should watch Looper and Knives Out!!
— Denis Villeneuve. MY MAN!!!! Arrival and Dune *chef's kiss* if you can bear longer movies also Blade Runner 2049 but it isn't one of my favorites exactly because it was long and boring. And since probably someone will say the same for Dune at least Dune has you looking at Oscar Isaac and Timothee Chalamet sure they look miserable but that's when men look the best.
— Spy movies? like idk how to call this but let me list them all. Anna (2019) they succeeded where The Red Sparrow failed like if you're looking for anything similar to Black Widow Anna is the one I would recommend a thousand times. The Nice Guys and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. great comedies I just love them. It's not really a spy but assassin I guess but John Wick franchise is the shit and the best movie is obviously John Wick 2.
— Another director that has me is unfortunately Christopher Nolan. Can I get more basic than that? I do admit his faults and that's sound mixing is fucking awful, I don't understand his movies while I am watching them most of the time and this man cannot write a female character for the life of him BUT 🎶 shapes and colours 🎶. His ideas are what draw me in and it's just visual masterpieces doesn't matter if I can't hear the dialogue if it looks good am I right?
— Smashing musicals and animation together because this is already becoming too long. Singin' In The Rain and The Sound of Music are a MUST watch and also I'm a Phantom of the Opera girlie so if you're going to watch anything watch the 25th anniversary version. I am also unfortunately a Hamilton girlie and the damage to my life caused by that damn musical is irreparable. For animation musical Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove, Anastasia, The Lion King and Tangled and purely animation Howl's Moving Castle, Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles and Inside Out.
— Now it's time for a quick fire: Ford v Ferrari and Rush are two best movies for my motorsport girlies, Gone Girl and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for my book girlies, Death at a Funeral and Hot Fuzz for the british comedy girlies, i'm also unfortunately a Titanic girlie probably the movie i've watched most in my life, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS!!! A. MUST. WATCH. Monty Python movies are great if you ignore some of the outdated jokes. Jackie is one of my favorites just because it's one of Natalie's Portman's best performances and that's also including Black Swan but both movies are also visually stunning.
— The Death of Stalin is one of the best comedies as well. Ready Player One is one of my weirder favourites since many ppl see it as an average movie but i'd recommend it to anyone (literally can't believe it's my favourite Spielberg movie 😭😭). Also add to the video game genre Tron: Legacy because I will also recommend that movie to anyone. The Grand Budapest Hotel is also a must watch like if anyone made the world go through a pink paint shortage before Barbie did then it's this movie and finally The Batman (2022). Let's end on a battinson note just because.
— Crazy to think I haven't even mentioned all of my favourites but I guess this is kinda the jist of it all. Basically my taste is anything as long as I like it I guess jsbsjsbsjs. (I forgot to mention the horror genre but that's just because I don't really have a favourite movie like if I had to say anything it would be The Conjuring movies.)
— As for Le Belle Et La Bête it's one of my new favourites and honestly got me into a french cinema mood so I'll probably find more favourites there. One of my goals has always been to watch more foreign movies but not many have entered my favourites club unfortunately. Also fuck disney live-action remakes (except you cinderella (2015)).

about me
hi everyone! yall can call me maze (she/her/ella), late twenties, from the lovely island of puerto rico so my native language is spanish.
once upon a time --in the early 2010s-- i had another tumblr blog(s) while i was on high school and early uni years. life happened, uni got progressively worse and i stopped using it. i used to post and reblog stuff from all of my special interests, mostly star wars and books and shows that i was obsessing over at the time.
i recently got nostalgic and decided to open up another blog cuz i lost access to my old one (boohoo), so here i am getting reacquainted with the world of tumblr again.
what i love:
star wars -- i grew up with the prequels so they have a special place in my heart, ahsoka supremacy, mando-verse, the last jedi is a masterpiece
books -- love me some spicy romance (contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, rockstar, why-choose/rh), acotar/sjm-verse, latinx representation
dnd -- i met my partner/husband playing dnd so roleplaying games are always going to be a special interest of mine
metal -- my music tastes go from heavy to heavier
birbs -- birbs are cats with wings and they give zero fucks about anything and i love them
husbando -- he's the love of my life and i'm gonna post about him and brag about him whenever i can
i have many other interests/hyperfixations that may make appearances. i also would like to document my daily life and thoughts here.
i'm always open for questions so ask away if you want.
thank you for reading! may the force be with you!

Ok but here's the thing:
1) They aren't cops. People need to stop trying to make them cops. There is a separate judicial task force in Star Wars and the one on coruscant is actually shown in TCW. In High Canon we see them as: crisis negotiators, diplomats, bodyguards, advisors but not final decision makers unless it's internal/delegated to them in the mission, teachers, archivists, and when the clone wars kick off, drafted as generals. Occasionally they serve as independent investigators but it's a pretty small portion of what they do!
2) The "religious supremacy" angle is a *very* western take and also an incorrect one. The Jedi are explicitly based on Buddhist and Daoist theologies, not Christian ones. The Jedi are never shown to proselytize or try to convert people and they aren't out here trying to depict everyone else as evil, that's flat out inaccurate. We are shown multiple other force sects that the Jedi have no issue with and leave alone unless poked first (Jedha's Guardians of the Whills, the Nightsisters, & the Baran Do Sages to name a few). The only ones the Jedi do have an issue with are the Sith, and that's because the Sith are about "freedom" in a "freedom from consequences" way that allows them to kill whoever they want and have power with no one to challenge them. It's the Sith who wipe out the Nightsisters and the Guardians of the Whills and every other force sect they can find, not the Jedi.
If you want to take a look at what happens when jedi "do bad stuff too" or get more black and white SW it would have been an interesting thing to see how the Jedi internally address misconduct. Do they focus on remediation and reparative justice? Their philosophy seems to imply that, given their clear focus on harm reduction, but we never get to see it. From everything I've heard, Sol's obsession with Osha... is an attachment. It is wrong by Jedi teachings. So let him go to the council and let's see how they make things right. Alternatively, what about seeing how the jedi internally handle institutional change and disputes? How are they torn by the focus the Senate demands on the Senate's political & monetary goals versus the Jedi's own aim to relieve suffering and help the people in the galaxy? How does the senate kneecap them? It's heavily implied in TCW that at one point the Jedi had the leeway to overthrow the entire Zygerrian slave empire, but that they have less power now and the Senate has restricted them from acting against them; what about that? it would appropriately focus on the corruption in the Senate that leads to the Separatist crisis of the prequels and on the internal struggle of the jedi with it. (also: jfc they want us to trust the fucking politician over the jedi??)
Instead of doing any of that we got... intentional misinterpretation of the jedi and their beliefs and even of the narrative arc of the prequels.
Anyways what I'm trying to say is that there are absolutely religious discussions to be had but those are different ones than the ones a western religious perspective forces, and the ones that are happening are not being had in good faith or even with a true understanding of what the Jedi are and what they believe.
I'm going to end with a link to a pair of essays that really helped open my mind regarding some of how people act about the Jedi here.
I think one of the things I've found most frustrating about sections of Star Wars fandom since being more active in it (rather than just being a Star Wars appreciator) is that some folks are constantly looking for a reason that the Jedi "caused" or worse "deserved" what was coming to them with Order 66. It's hard and horrible to watch the Jedi get slaughtered in Revenge of the Sith, so people search for a reason that it was, in some sense, justified. But that's not what genocide is. No group can "bring a genocide on themselves." It doesn't matter WHAT mistakes they may make. The whole point of the Clone Wars all the way down to destroying Jedha City in Rogue One was to wipe out not only the Jedi themselves, but the memory of them, so that the empire can fully take root.
And this is why the end of the Acolyte finale felt so so so bad to me. It was meant to be, or so I believed, a show about how the Sith were getting closer to their goal of getting rid of the Jedi as we close in on the century before The Phantom Menace. I sat there, I waited for the narrative intention to set in, and that narrative intention surprised me by saying "ah yes, well, some Jedi made mistakes and it was fine for one to be murdered HORRIBLY as a result, and the subsequent cover up of all of it is just the Jedi wanting to avoid senate knowledge of what really happened because the Jedi are too powerful." It's like, nevermind that the SENATE is the power here, and the Jedi long-ago agreed to help them out but are being shouldered with more and more and more and they may have the Force but they are still only people (which the High Republic books show REALLY well). It's like, nevermind that Star Wars is about redemption and always trying to be a better person and learning from our mistakes! It wasn't a situation, when Osha kills Sol in a nasty and cruel way, where you see a person going corrupt and know the narrative behind it is like "oh shit, this is a bad turn for them!" It felt like the narrative was saying she was justified (at least to me) and that's just. Sad? Bleak? The end of the finale felt to me like "hey, some Jedi made some mistakes while trying their best once, and that's why these Sith get to do whatever and that's why the Jedi walked right into their own demise."
When the scene with the senator happened, I thought, oh, interesting, we're going to see the prejudice against Force-sensitives here that leads to the senate clapping in the face of genocide. That leads to the safehouse in Kenobi where we see Force-sensitives carving messages of hope into the wall while they're being hunted down and killed. But that's ... not what happened. In the end, it felt like the narrative said, "yep that guy is right, the Jedi are a power-grabbing cult." It just felt bad, man. I thought this was going to be a story about the lineage leading up to Plagueis and Palpatine and I thought, interesting, I'd love to see that, but it just ended up being this messy thing with clunky writing and a bunch of loose ends that teased me with Jedi characters and then said "eh, these guys deserved it."
We got to see a kyber crystal bleeding for the first time in live action, and I can't even be excited about it! Did we ever really find out how Osha and Mae were created and what weird stuff the witches were up to? Nope! Just woah disappointing as far as even learning new stuff about how the dark side corrupts the Force, and that was one thing I was interested in as the show started to go downhill for me in later episodes.
(RIP Sol, Jecki, and Yord. You deserved better than that, and Vernestra, so did you)
