You need the say the bit about the way canon treats characters way louder because I really think that the way the character is... framed, I guess? accounts for huge chunks of it.
I remember when the Disk Horse was about Finn vs. Kylo Ren from the Star Wars sequel trilogy and I got called racist for trying to point out that Finn was always framed as the comic relief/unserious by the canon. He has a character arc in the first movie, but his emotions and his trauma and his personality are mostly played for laughs (ha! ha! Black janitor guy is scared because he's a coward! - and him being a janitor is a change that came pretty late, he was originally meant to be the top of his class). OTOH Kylo Ren has the camera linger on his anguished face while sad music plays and he monologues about the moral conflicts that he's facing.
The average viewer/reader - especially in the case of visual media - doesn't really stop watching to form non-prejudiced independent opinions on every character (and really shouldn't if your narrative is well-constructed!), that'd take up too much of their mental bandwidth! They let themselves be guided by how things and people are framed, so of course they'd see Ren as Serious and Tragic and Finn as the funny guy, which is inherently less sexy to most people!
Same thing with F/F: when canon treats its women with any degree of complexity and gives them the sort of character traits that are conductive to blorbofication people are all over it!
My dash's been drowning in Rhaenycent for a year now, and that's a show that arguably sorta botched its female characters in the attempt to make them complex! But it doesn't matter, because they set up all these juicy dynamics and the fans are all over it!
Fans LOVE Claudia from IWTV even though the tragedy of her canonical role is that the guys always sideline her for each other.
I went to the Anora tag after seeing the movie and saw a bunch of Anora x reader fic in between the gifs the same way I did for Feyd Rautha from Dune or any other feral unhinged character fans love imagining themselves having sex with (and then blocked it lol).
Like, my taste in women and men is exactly the same but the large majority of characters that fit it are men, because we just don't get a lot of women who are composed, charming rogues on the outside and crippled traumatized messes on the inside, with a narrative that gives this sufficient weight, and also lets them be feral and unhinged. And I actually prefer minority characters because where I'm from I'm from a minority group myself, but again, most of them don't fit the bill personality-wise or framing-wise.
Fandom's a hobby and it's meant to be fun - I'm not gonna be constantly swimming uphill from what the canon is trying to present to me just because a character shares a demographic category with me. I think this is the case for most people, really.
--
My read on a lot of this is that people are sad about the status quo (fair) and are lying to themselves that the culprits are nearby where they can reach them.
If we confront the fact that the real source is the director or the cinematographer or the studio head, it all feels so much more insurmountable.
Of course, one can opt for niche, indie media, but a lot of people don't want to do that, so they fall back on this shitty coping mechanism of pretending that they can yell at the people around them and effect meaningful change.

With all the new Anakin and Ahsoka posts I’m seeing, I’m also seeing more and more Obi-wan post and ig here’s my hot take of the day: fandom has absolutely made me hate Obi-wan. I honestly didn’t think much of him in the movies but the more I interact with fandom, and the prequels fandom in specific, the more I hate fanon interpretation of him which leaks into the canon portrayal and it’s gotten to the point where any time i even see his name I’m scoffing out loud and rolling my eyes

Except they're not all wrong and they're not "paid fanfiction." They were written with Lucas' approval and they developed the Star Wars universe in a dry spell that lasted years. The only reason they're claimed to be "not canon" now is only because of the decision Disney made ... and that was after it passed out of Lucas' hands. He never claimed any such thing. So as far as Lucas is concerned, they're as canon as anything else.
And it's true that at the same time there are story points that conflict. All that means is that you get to explore how they might or might not still fit with other pieces of the universe, such as the movies, and which pieces you think make more sense.
There is no hard core "this is wrong" statement that you can apply to published material. The EU books are just as valid as anything else. The Star Wars universe is NOT just the movies, whether anyone likes it or not. It's a bad faith move to blockade off totally valid discussion points just because you want to gatekeep the fandom. The books exist, people read them and like them, and they get to talk about them, and no one is capable of undermining that. You don't get to invalidate real SW resources just because you don't like the conclusions some people make from them.
At the point that you want to keep your headcanons informed only by the movies, that is certainly a choice you can make. But in the wider fandom, people can and do use all the material available to them. And they will have different opinions. You don't have to like them, but there's also nothing you can do to wipe them out or to somehow magically trump them because you like your resources better than theirs.
If you don't want to see those points come up in discussions then don't have those discussions. Or frame the discussion properly up front, and it can be a fun little exercise to only consider the movies.
This is just how fandom works.
I really dislike it when anti-Jedi and Jedi-critical crowd uses EU books as a prove for their points. Why they’re all wrong:
a) The books were written by various people who didn’t consult George Lucas about what they’re going to write. Everyone understood SW as they did. When an original author has never claimed such art as canon and actually refused it – this is a definition of fanfiction, isn’t it? Paid, yes, but fanfiction nonetheless.
b) Most of these books were created way before PT. They didn’t know about the Jedi things what we know now. It becomes quite hypocritical – I mean, in the EU the clones were enemies, not allies, but somehow I don’t see any claims ‘but the clones are enemies! The EU says so!’. Even in Karen Traviss books not all the clones have a personality, but we all ignore it now, aren’t we? She wrote her books before the TCW, not knowing how the series would spin the story. So EU retcon works for the clones, but not for the Jedi?
#I'm pro Jedi as much as anybody but i absolutely recognize the toxic nature of gatekeeping totally valid SW resources#there's no such thing as saying 'your positions don't matter because i don't believe in your sources'#the sources are published material. full stop. they're valid#you HAVE to do better than that to make a legitimate argument#if you don't know enough to refute the EU you can just say so#or if those discussions aren't fun for you to explore then don't explore them#nothing you can do can invalidate those sources or get rid of those positions#so you can either treat them respectfully or stay out of those fandom corners#personally i find it weird and boring to not entertain different points of view. they're all fun and they lend themselves to cool new#stories and rp and fanfic#the movies aren't great themselves btw. EU did SO many things better. (like the original clone concept)#but I'm not out there crying about the clones because i prefer the EU. i recognize that SW material is SW material#if people want to use it to headcanon all these noncanon clone representations then that's fine#likewise there's room to develop positions on the Jedi that are both supported and different from each other#and that's great actually#i don't care about the positions themselves so much as the wrong-headed idea of invalidating arguments because of personal beef with#with totally valid sources#commentary#Star Wars#also like. as mere fans your opinion simply doesn't trump real published authors. you don't have the authority or position to say published#work is 'wrong'. you can choose not to use it in your personal playground but that's all the power you get.#ordering people to not use the EU is not a thoughtful or well-developed position

My favourite type of fanfiction at the moment has been 'y/n is reincarnated into fandom to save the characters from canon!'. (currently mainly reading for JJK and MHA as that's what I'm obsessed with.) There's something so pure about the plot and how the author has fun with it. With scenes where yn is lowkey simping or the actual character of the fandom being dorky.
I think the appeal (besides the amazing writing and passion given into each chapter of these fanfic, rec list below) of this is how straightforward it can be. You already know the characters, you know the canon. All you learn when first reading is what ability you get and how you fit within the world. Which is usually attending the school or growing up with the character.
But mostly, what I love is seeing the butterfly effect and the new dynamics it can create. But lately, I can't help but wonder about a fanfic that has the vibe of 'careful what you wish for'. And seeing what ripples that could make. (I write mostly of JKK and MHA but these ideas could be apply to AOT or Demon Slayer or any other fandom.)
I find it hilarious if instead, the y/n is older than the main group. Imagine being the milf/dilf of MHA. Being the same age as All Might or old enough to adopt characters like Shigaraki.
Or being the in-between age of Deku and the teachers. Where your options are; hanging out with the League of Villains, working hard asf to be a top hero to be around Hawks/the plot. Or becoming a teacher/assistant to watch over class 1A to change canon. I mean, what else are you meant to do in your early twenties? You literally have to force yourself into the plot lol
Oh, you have a favourite character, like Nanami, Gojo or Choso you want to meet? Here you go, a new life as their child! (probably be a sibling for Choso lol) Oh you met you wanted to rizz them up and treat them right? Nope, sorry, you're forced to tag along and face any challenges that would come as being a child to a; Jujutsu sorcerer/ the strongest/ a half-curse spirit.
Oh, this time you specified the thought of being dating/married to Aizawa/Geto/Toji as you died? Kinda weird but here you go! Your new life as their spouse! But only, you don't gain memories from this new life, as you only remember about the canon. Don't mind the grief and odd looks the character is giving you, their amnesia darling. It's not like you can't remember the wedding you two shared. (for maximum angst, they have the kids and you're just clueless about being a parent and saving the canon. yikes)
Okay, but what if you get super lucky? You get to be with the main character and do real help! Everything is fine in JJK but Sukuna is dead set on killing you. Every chance he gets, he uses until he kills you. But it's only after he brought you back that you learn it's because he actually loves you. After all, you're the reincarnated of his reincarnated dead wife. (not confusion at all, lol) He was just pissed that you dead centuries ago and couldn't have the life you two planned. It was his way of getting even. Definitely not annoying when trying to save characters.
Okay, for real now. Everything is perfectly fine...But what's this? Yuji and Izuku are actually yandere for you? Oh, that wouldn't change canon that much, right?
Anyway, here are my favourites fanfics;
Otherworldy attraction by Kilkyo851 JJK | on AOE | multiple pairings
When I catch you Gege by Quinnyundertow JJK | on AOE | multiple pairings
Daybreak by sexy-captain-rexy (smolkatsudon) Star wars | poly Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker and reader pairing| on AOE
Promise: Thorin x Fíli x reader Hobbit | love angle with true pairing haven't been shown | on AOE (this one is interesting as reader has more visions than knowledge from media.)
Changing History [MHA! Various F!Reader] by summerblack | MHA | on Qoutev
The Future's Keeper [MHA!Various x F!Reader] by summerblack | MHA | on Quotev

Deep in my ff7 rereads so here are my favourite fandom fics, hands down.
End as you mean to begin <- 130k+ of time travelling cloud parenting the remnants, seeking asylum in a war torn wutai to keep all four of them out of shinras hands while sephiroth is absolutely Going Through It in midgar. Great Genesis characterisation and cloud mothering his way to an international incident. Bonus gender hijinks, hilarious misunderstandings and zack. Unfinished.
The fear of falling stars <- 500k+ and soon to be completed. Cloud and insane!Sephiroth time travel back to their shinra days and I cannot emphasise enough how much cloud is Not Doing Well. Gorgeous wordplay and top tier banter. Utterly unhinged blood enemies to ??? to ?????? to lovers sefikura. It's E rated and probably the tensest I've ever been reading fic lol, it is not lighthearted! But it's incredibly well written and the characters are phenomenal (zack my beloved) so if you've got strong nerves (and like a quarantine pairing) I'd definitely recommend it.
Voice of the gods <- 170k+ of almost idyllic gods and avatars au. Slow, soft and full of world building, it's a lovely relaxing read of cloud getting anointed the envoy of sephiroth, god of war, and slowly growing into his role and joining the ranks of envoy. Lots of side characters take larger roles here, and sephiroth himself is a darling without losing his sharpest edges. Unfinished.
I CAN FIX HIM (series) <- possibly my favourite sephiroth characterisations ever. 130k and growing of pure shaking this man like a doll in a perfect mix of almost delirious crack and gutting angst (often both at once!). Very good writing, every single funny moment hits like a truck and keeps building until you're choking with laughter. Bonus points to ROADTRIP! for being utterly, utterly insane. I cannot emphasise enough just how GOOD every single character and their dynamics are written.
Just anything ff7 written by AimeeLouWrites, if you've been in this fandom for any length of time you'll have heard of her. Great concepts, great executions and aus for DAYS.
Five hearts to make him whole <- 130k+ of time/dimension travelling cloud getting sent to a world of soulmates - and his alternate self bagged all four soldier firsts. Alternate cloud also died violently a few years ago and boy did those soulmates (not) take it well. Our cloud, of course, was not read in on any of this. Shout out to the emotional support chocobo! Unfinished?
Shall I find rest <- another soulmate agszc (?) dimension cross but this one is 100k+ of post AC cloud and Tifa waking up and deciding to make it everyone else's problem. They're so done with all the drama. Bamf nibel duo to the end and Tifa is the mvp. Unfinished.
Advanced release <- 250k+ and it's sephiroth receiving the original game in a strange packet that appeared in his room. It spirals into a messy and painful exposure of conspiracy, lies and inevitable tragedy. Video game logic is a running gag and zack remains the only actually stable person in the whole sorry mess but he's also Having a Terrible Experience. Really well written!!! Unfinished.
On broken wings <- 160k+ of pure post AC sephiroth redemption from his pov. Him struggling to find his place in a new world and experience real human connection evolves into MOOGLE EMBASSY need I say more?? Unfinished.
With Great Power Comes Meddling Fucking Gods <- 470k+! Poly WEAPON cloud gets yoinked back to the past (feat agzs), dies for a few days and misses his family SO bad but he is determined to change the future for the better. Probably the most healthy and mature cloud ever lol. Unfortunately for him, insane!sephiroth is pulling a inner hollow and gaia herself isn't talking. If you like symbolism, whoo boy!! The dream sequences are a DOOZY (and drowning in eroticism). Wonderfully written, the divide between sane!sephiroth and his counterpart is really cool to see. E rated at times but it's absolutely DELIGHTFUL and WEAPON cloud is such a treat. And I cannot emphasise enough the symbolism. Zackkura (kinda) and slow burn! Unfinished.
A brand need not be seen <- 180k+ in a world of soulmates where the four firsts have clouds name on their wrists. Trooper cloud is tentatively, desperately hopeful. Then a smoking hot op af adult cloud appears, with no names on his wrists at all. It's a really cute flirty fic despite covering shinra politics, identity crises, huge self worth issues, lots of trauma, and finding your own place in the world. Unfinished.
Memory's struggle <- 250k+ of cascading time travel. Basically everyone goes back, which goes great XD. Everyone... Except cloud. I read this a while ago but I do remember poor cloud just getting loved and spoiled by literally everyone and freaking out about it lmao. He was so confused! Unfinished.
Additional edit:
A solitude of space <- a wonderfully soothing 90k complete of sephiroth getting resurrected and moving to stardew valley to become the farmer. It's sooooo peaceful and following him as he grows into his own person and experiences real normality and community is lovely, if a touch angsty. Eventual sefikura with cloud moving to the farm when he's not doing deliveries. It's just. Really nice. I think I cried at the end. Finished!
One-Winged Angel's Self-Saving System <- 55k+ sephiroth enters the Chinese fantasy Scum Villain world in place of the scum villain himself! (He's the third person to take on that role, but who's counting?) Reborn into a plant body he's set loose on an unsuspecting world with a completely different magic system (sentient swords! Immortality!), with only the guide of a mysterious hallucinated ai. Freedom to make his own choices! Aroallo seph rep! He messes up the plot so bad, recruiting accidental love interests with kill counts and resurrecting long lost immortals. It can get a bit heavy but it's really fun and sephiroth has no intention of ever going back. Unfinished.
The SOLDIER General's Self Saving Shizun <- 73k+ of the opposite of the last fic: the scum villain (the 2nd) gets isekai'd into sephiroth! Shen qingqiu, aka the modern world native shen yuan, fails to resurrect into his prepared plant body and wakes up in a new fictional world, once again as the villain. With his limited memory of the games and his immense knowledge of cultivation (scum villains magic system) he tries to get a grasp on his new life while evading hojo, the president, his new subordinates and the war front while cultivating to immortality - something shinra is VERY interested in. When I tell you these two fics have a GRIP on me. I've written so many fic ideas around them. It's actually insane. The first thing he does is completely redecorate his rooms and buy a whole new wardrobe, which is totally not suspicious XD. Unfinished.
The fifth act <- 160k, it's a good ol' time travel fic - with a twist. The truest exploration of ripples in a pond, or how kindness, when true, can be returned in most unexpected ways. Or maybe how a single act of good can change the world.... Or maybe it's about how you must never turn your back on an enemy. Cloud has people to save and people to kill, and only time will tell which is which. Complete.
Of Things That May Be Only 'Verse <- another series! At 250k, it's about sephiroth resurrecting, only to, uh, slip and crack his head lol. This sends him spiralling through a vision of a cosy life he'd never dreamed, and when he wakes up? He wants it so bad. But that means behaving. Slow burn sefikura redemption, side Cid/Vincent (vincid?) which ngl did convince me of the ship, domestic fluffiness and found family galore! And the whole series is complete!!
Little seph <- a 160k series about the AC sephiroth revival going wrong. Stuck in the body of a kid, post AC sephiroth is a feral kitten carefully domesticated with the power of pancakes, wing preening, and deeply uncomfortable sleepovers. He's a brat, a pest, a murder machine, but he just wants to be part of a family even if he pretends he doesn't. Eventual sefikura, and overall just a very good read. Fully complete!
We are no heroes <- 70k series, about a secretly time travelled sephiroth desperately trying to save his friends and finally, maybe, rest. When I tell you this had me SOBBING. I was BAWLING. Extremely good, zack is best boy. This man is just so tired. Beautiful descriptions. And, again, complete! Yay!

Hi there! I just wanted to thank you for your many MANY thorough explainers of Jedi Culture, Philosophy and just, everything!
I had kind of fallen out of the fandom when I stumbled across your blog, partially because of the more toxic part of the fandom, partially because I was frustrated with my perceived version of the Jedi. While I never got as far as blaming them for Order 66, I was stuck in this "I want to like them but there forbid love and want you to suppress all emotions and not care about anything and that seems wrong!"-cycle but couldn't resolve it on my own.
Suffice to say that your posts have absolutely rewired my brain chemistry about Star Wars, the Jedi and the prequels and I have a much bigger appreciation for all of it now, so thank you, and may the force be with you!
This was such a lovely message to get and I'm honored! I've found that there are a lot of us who walked a similar path--I started out as very Jedi-critical as well, to the point that I borderline was blaming them for Order 66, and eventually many of us wandered over to this viewpoint instead. For me, I think that explains why I approach fandom the way I do--in part, I just really really get a charge out of word of god commentary and reference guides and collation of details of worldbuilding, that kind of thing lights my brain up. But it's also the kind of thing that evolves my view on things, not only does it scratch the itch, but it's exactly what got me to become such a hardcore Jedi fan--because I sat down to really examine TCW and the movies in detail and I found, oh, there are actually a lot of instances that didn't fit with what I thought of the Jedi, and when I put it all together and read Lucas' commentary, a whole new viewpoint emerged for me. I saw how often they were roadblocked when they were trying to help people. I saw how often they forgave mistakes. I saw how often they made themselves available. I saw how often they risked their lives and even often died to save other people, just because they cared. That's not going to be everyone's journey and that's fine, there should be plenty of room in fandom for all kinds of different opinions, setting aside that bigotry shouldn't just get a pass. We should leave real people the hell alone because their opinions on fiction is not a good metric for understanding them as a person--how they treat REAL PEOPLE is much more important. If I can help draw someone over to enjoying the Jedi through a more positive view, to show that they don't suppress emotions (they would have been SO BORING if they were just emotionless robots! why bother hiring Ewan McGregor if you're not going to let him ACT, you know? 😂), to show that the choices they made were because they were in an impossible situation and the narrative does a lot to show that there just weren't better ways out, to just show much fun it can be to love the Jedi with us, then that's such a win for me. Nobody's ever obligated to join us, but if you want to, a lot of us are having a really good time over here. (Most of the time. It is still Star Wars fandom. 😂) I'm so glad you're here, fandom is always more fun when there are people to play in the same sandbox with, like I don't need the whole fandom to agree with me, I just need some wonderful people to be here and I have that, so thank you for being part of it and I'm honored if I could help drag you over here with us! XD

Why hello people of Tumblr!
Does a character you like have a lack of romantic interest? Is that lack of interest treated as an issue they have to overcome instead of as a part of who they are? Does their love interest seem ham-fisted?
Well this may be the blog for you! To ask the question of could aromanticism save them?
For those who don't know, aromanticism is defined as little to no romantic attraction to a person!

Who are your fav authors on here, why and what are your fav fics from them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anon, I don't think you're aware of the beast you've just unleashed!
So strap in cause this is going to be long.
Right off the bat, we have, @thefudge. I'm trying so hard not to sound like a deranged fangirl right now. But trust me when I say that I am OBSESSED with every single thing they write! I have read their fics SO SO many times and It's impossible to pick a single favorite one. So here are my top 5
Waiting for the barbarians
Within you is everything I am
I won't be these clothes I burn
His little dead wife
god complex
Honestly, guys go check out their work they have so many stories spanning countless fandoms. They're literally the ones that got me into Star Wars in the first place! @thefudge I SWEAR I'm not a crazy fangirl, I just really love your writing and works!!
@yandere-romanticaa goes without saying, I've been a HUGE fan of Ana's since literally forever. She was actually one of the Yandere blogs that inspired me to start writing on Tumblr. Again I can't pick just one of her works I love so here's a top 5 list
Wanna Be yours
Yandere! William Moriarty
Yandere! Miguel O'hara
Yandere! Nikolai #1 and #2
Yandere! Dazai comparisons
She writes for so many fandoms and updates very frequently. She's also such an amazing and fun person so hearing her stories is always a treat!! Love you lots bestie!!
@fragileheartbeats is another amazing author I love her frigid aesthetic and how it adds a layer of etherealness to all her stories. Her scenarios are magical and written in such a way they evoke such sweet feelings. Honestly reading her stories makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a blanket with hot chocolate watching as the snow silently falls outside.
Cute little things that melt their hearts (jjk)
White Swan (jjk)
How it feels to be loved by them (jjk)
First kiss (jjk)
When they become dads (jjk)
These five are my TOP FAV works from her they're honestly so well-written and utterly adorable!! Guys I'm not kidding go follow her, she is literally my wify!!
@irresistible-revolution
I'm new to their work. BUT "A Coffin Made of Glass" is so beautifully written. It's dead dove yet so utterly bewitching. It takes place in the space between famous Star Wars scenes and gives a more in-depth view of the character's actions and sentiments.
@spacexseven, omg where do I even begin? Okay, so they just have such a natural way with words. Their stories flow SO smoothly it's honestly astonishing! They've written two Childe fics, "Broken Vows" and "Mandatory Obligations" that I'm wholly obsessed with. The dialogue they write also feels so natural and forthcoming, it's absolutely enticing!!
@rrairey another author whose work I've recently gotten into!! If you're a Sukuna fan then her blog is the place to go.
Love
Sukuna vs Plushie (a literal BANGER!!)
Gojo vs Plushie
Trust
Bracelet
Seriously, go check out her work!! The way she writes dialogue between the characters and the reader is so utterly perfect. It makes you feel as if you are right there saying those exact words. The scenarios (although) fictional feel so real thanks to her wonderful writing style.
@dear-yandere needs no introduction, she's a staple in the yandere community. Her stories always blend love and creepiness to a perfect extent. Can I take a moment to just appreciate how poetic and GORGEOUS all her stories are?? Like seriously!! "Almost god" is my favorite fanfic of ALL TIME!! And don't even get me started on "Cry for Me"!!
This turned out long I don't think anyone was expecting an essay. To be honest I consume more fanfics than published books nowadays so I guess it's a given to have such a long list.

Palpatine is deffinitly the most talented and smartest villain of pop culture.
How do I get to this to this conclusion ? The mananaged to litteraly manipulate IRL. All the anti-jedi ppl that make up a decent chunk of the fandom litteraly fell for the empire's propaganda. (They'd be great imperials !)
But all jokes aside, let's be glad all these Jedi-haters fell for and focus on fictional propaganda and cheer on a fictional genocide instead of real ones.
Lmao yeah, I think it's hilarious that the same people who will agree that Palpatine is THE villain of Star Wars so easily fall for his propaganda. It's almost like they only think Palpatine was a villain because of how he treated Anakin...oh wait!
In all seriousness, I think that these people would have NO IDEA that Palpatine was a villain if he wasn't LITERALLY dressed in all black and SW didn't constantly put a neon sign over his head saying "VILLAIN." I think if he kept his "kind old man" persona and wasn't shown physically abusing Anakin/putting him in the Vader-machine thing then anti-Jedi/Stanakins would literally just treat him like they treat Dooku and Anakin-
"He was just sick of the dogmatic ways of the Jedi and wanted things to change!"
"The Jedi were oppressing him and his culture [the Sith]!" - they say, ignoring that Sith culture is literally just abuse, genocide, slavery, and fascism.
"Well, if the Jedi didn't want him to commit genocide against them, desecrate their temples, and destroy all information about their culture then they should've just let him do what he wanted!" - they say, ignoring that what he wanted to do was abuse, genocide, slavery, and fascism.
-and I also think that they would praise Palpatine for his treatment of Anakin and say that Palpatine was- "the only one who supported/understood him" -because he was in direct opposition to the Jedi and these people think- "control your emotions and don't act out of anger/grief" -is abuse and- "act on your emotions freely, the harm you do to yourself and others doesn't matter" -is A+ parenting.

I’ve just watched the new TADC episode and it becomes ever clearer that this is the star show that really demonstrates what the pinnacle of indie animation is. With every new episode, Goose and the TADC team prove that they have the top talent in character development, story writing as well as, of course, appealing animation. All these things are moving along with depth and heart and only with a handful of base characters. On top of that, the voice actors… the original voice actors of the online sphere, are proving that they are well and truly worth their salt and deserving of respect. And of course, none of there fellows are ‘showing off’ via their social media accounts. They are incredibly humble and hardworking.
Then you have the other end of the spectrum - Vivziepop. She still suffers now with the same flaws she had as a student on Tumblr (shockingly never improved), primarily bad writing and broken character development. Nobody can fail to notice that Viv’s biggest flaw is throwing too many characters out there at a time, then failing to bring depth and nuance to them all. She did this with Zoophobia, and she’s still doing it now with HH/HB. For example, starting with the premise of ‘imp assassins’ then spiralling into ‘gay melodrama’… it’s as if she has no real control over her own work. Same with Hazbin and the ‘redemption turned war with Heaven’ plot that was rushed to bits. Add to that the foul treatment of the people who got her pilot off the ground in the first place, the obsession with just getting in with the ‘it’ crowd (Broadway singers), and the way she treats her fandom; providing her with all the funding to see all her shows and travel here there and everywhere, and everything smacks of a devastating loss of integrity.
All I’m going to say is, in the world on indie animation, be more like Goose… and Tracy, and Fable!
- Taxidermy Anon
Well said. While Goose, Tracy, and Fable are raising the bar, Viv really is out there serving as the embodiment of "no one wants to be a Squidward."

If Lucasfilm hires you to develop a project what do you pitch?
(Happy Thanksgiving btw 🦃)
Forgive me o’ Geode, friend and sender of fun asks, but the pitch would be me asking to use the restroom and then sneaking out through an open window.
I know! I know! What a boring answer! That sounds so cynical and unfun! Jess LOVES Star Wars content!! So why is she crying?!
Problem is, I think I would want to pitch The Acolyte.
Of course, I disagree with Leslye Headland’s take on the Jedi Order completely. But I can’t say I didn’t have fun with that show, or that I wouldn’t have tried to do the exact same thing she did with some meaningful differences: get a Jedi-centric story away from the Skywalker Saga, explore weird places, make it dark and edgy and sexy, diverse leads, LGTBQIA+ characters treated like real characters, big tasty lightsaber fights. And it would get cancelled just like The Acolyte did, as none of the things I wanted to fix about the show were the reasons for its failure.
I don’t think it’s just Star Wars, by the way. It is ROUGH out there for creative people working on projects, big or small. The industry is changing in ways that are still being realized as stories change to franchises which change to corporate properties managing streaming conglomerates. I imagine it will get a great deal worse before it gets better as companies start to cheap out on AI. I’ve talked to Netflix producers, friends who write for Marvel projects, and closer to home, my partner just realized the creative dream of a lifetime: the book he’s worked on for seven years got published by THE publisher in his scene. It’s a success! His fans are fantastic! The reviews are great! He’s sold so many copies so quickly that he would qualify for NYT bestsellers criteria if they listed his genre. His experience with the process was like pulling fucking teeth. He was unsupported with the book on every level by his publishers, fought for every good decision, and the whole process was exhausting and demoralizing.
I can’t imagine how quickly the dream turns into a nightmare for someone taking on a Lucasfilm project, getting the chance to tell a story they’re deeply passionate about, and then it fails utterly for reasons entirely outside of their control.
Anyway, without invoking Apollo’s red ball, I do want to talk about a Dooku: Jedi Lost adaptation for a second. Because of course, imagining well done cinematic scenes of certain favorite moments in that book - the Tirra ‘taka or Sifo-Dyas’s sandstorm while Dooku’s blue blade is just cutting down foes left and right - make my nips so hard they just break off and go flying around the room, smashing up the furniture. It’s impossible not to dream “well, what if they just did it really well?”
But here’s where I think it falls apart. Regardless of how you view the platonic or romantic nature of Sifo-Dyas and Dooku's relationship, a good half the book is two male characters having intimate, affirming conversations about their feelings. Can you imagine a Star Wars property where the male leads look at each other and say lines like “you’re here. With me.” or the whole “I’m in.” “I”m in” exchange as their ship literally falls burning from the sky? Disney would probably turn it into a lightsaber fight, and yeah, I’d reblog the shit out of those gifs, but I think it would erase something core that I love in the narrative that is perfectly captured in the medium it’s in right now. Something tender and understated and rare.
....And even if they captured that aspect perfectly, part of the “fandom” that hadn’t seen a Star Wars film since May 2005 would bleat “woke” and complain that their wife left them because someone (me) ruined Count Dooku.

half of the season 1 behind and these are my feelings:
making galadriel so un-galadriel - horrible, she is the daughter of high king finarfin and would never behave like a petulant child going on her merry way to seek sauron. she would also not wear feanorian star for fuck's sake
numenor - terribly rushed, don't like it's downfall being sped up like 1500 years, give the Men some credit
the whole people living in mordor story - eh, not great, the men there are kind of annoying, but rooting for arondir
whole weird thing with elvish politics honestly and elrond being somehow treated as lesser because of his heritage (his heritage is literally the most prominent heroes and kings of middle earth. and also a maia. his dad literally ended the war so.)
where the hell is celeborn and celebrian - i so wanted to see the blooming romance between celebrian and elrond, i would give everything to see them together
now for the things i DO enjoy
elrond's baby face - he's my pookie i love him (also writes speeches for gil, very in character, love that for him) just a baby, must protecc
elrond & durin's friendship - yes. just the right amount of sass (and elrond forgetting that dwarves are mortal and not visiting for 20 years might be in bad taste), they are great together, please more
durin & disa - YES, shame they didn't give the dwarf women beards, but still, disa is amazing, they relationship is so precious to me
gil-galad - finally an elf with long hair, very noldor-looking, very nice, very nice (his golden robes are fucking obnoxious but oh well, he's a king, also real fandom-made Finrod would 10000% approve of that choice and would suggest adding some thousand shimmering jewels), he looks so done with everyone's shit and i love that about him (he's a russingon child you can pry this headcanon from my cold dead hands and you will still not succeed)
tyelpe - jesus where do i even start. he is fucking old but seeing his soft face just brings me so much joy. the softest, brightest boy, just wanting to make fancy jewellery, absolutely no harm will ever come to him. i adore him with every fibre of my being. he is so eager with his forge project, so eager to meet the dwarves, just so eager to learn; feanor would be so proud
also adar - it brings new, uncomfortable perspective of something most of us knew before, that the orcs and elves are not so far removed, and whether or not orcs deserve anything other than being stabbed. i always struggled with the bit in lotr where we see that they actually do not all want to fight and are very much slaves. it's uncomfortable to come to the conclusion that the world is not white and black and maybe orcs don't deserve only to be wiped out when their corruption is not of their doing. a nice touch i'd say.

to all my lovely followers, merry christmas….or should i say, merry slutsmas? yes, i have prepared for you a naughty yuletide treat, a thanks to everyone who has joined me on this wacky trip through revitalized star wars fandom and luke stanning. so below the cut, partake in a peek at our boy engaging in some “self-care.” italics are his fantasy, regular text is the real world. i’ve kept descriptions of his partner vague so that you can use your imaginations. whether you’d like it to be yourself or an oc, to frame this story as before the pair hooks up or during a time when they’re separated—i’ll leave that up to you! here’s to a hilarious, horny, heartwarming 2024. may the force be with you. enjoy!
(MINORS DNI)
this gentle art
He can picture her so clearly, as if she stands before him now in the darkened confines of his room. Her hair, her eyes, the smile on her lips: all lovely—and all making his heart beat that much faster. He swallows, staring back at her wide-eyed. Can she tell, he wonders? Can she sense how much he wants her, how desperate his need has grown?
An involuntary groan of relief escapes him as his hand finally encircles his cock; freed from the confines of his trousers, throbbing and angry-red, it twitches and leaks a single clear drop. Teeth digging into his lower lip, he slicks his length with his own essence. He settles back and allows his eyes to drift closed as he begins teasing the head. All the better to focus on his fantasy….
She sits on the bed beside him, runs a hand over his blushing cheek. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting,” she says softly.
“No!” he insists. “No, I…this is fine.”
“Good.” She leans forward and kisses him—quite faintly at first, then more ardently as he eagerly responds. Their mouths open, their tongues slide between their lips like keycards in a lock. He gasps a little when she tugs his body closer, the combined heat sending a thrill up his spine. Daring to lay her hand against his aching groin, he receives a delighted moan in response. “Stars, you’re so hard…need you inside me.” He’s more than willing to oblige.
He’s fighting his own urges, knowing he could finish by fucking his fist quicker than an ash-rabbit. No, he wants this to last…every delicious moment of it will be his. So he drags his fingers up and down the shaft at a measured pace, huffing and cursing under his breath at how unbelievably right it feels. Of course he indulges in a bit of self-pleasure now and then, most young humans do, but…it never feels as satisfying as it does when he thinks about her. So sweet, so soft, everything he could ever desire.
Their clothes are fumbled off into wrinkled heaps on the bedroom floor, and he helps position her on his lap. The tight, warm wetness enveloping his cock as she sinks onto it—surely no feeling in the galaxy could compare to this. “Oh fuck,” she whimpers. “Feels so good…”
His head is swimming with rapture, his hands gripping her hips. “You don’t…you don’t know how long I wanted this,” he manages.
She giggles breathlessly. “I can guess.” Slender arms drape themselves around his neck. With a slow roll of her pelvis she begins fucking him, and he swears through gritted teeth with an energy that surprises them both. His fingers dig into her hips, guiding her forward and back, and he leans in to sloppily kiss her collarbone.
At some point he opened his eyes and now finds himself gazing on his handiwork: left hand curled around his swollen cock, caressing it from root to tip, occasionally smearing precum around the head. His chest heaves with every breath, occasionally accompanied by a small “hah,” and he can feel his sweat rapidly cooling in the room’s circulating air. This is what the mere thought of her does to him. And he loves it.
The dull slap of flesh against flesh fills the bedroom, mixing with their moans and hoarse words of praise. “Fuuuuck, right there,” she begs, driving herself down to take him deeper; he decides to help and moves with her, angling at precisely the right spot to draw forth a broken cry.
“Like this?” he asks rhetorically, hands wandering and mouth ghosting at her neck. She whines lustfully as he bucks up into her. A moment later she shudders when he lowers his head to her breasts; he kisses them, then sucks a nipple into his mouth and rolls his tongue around the peak, not switching sides until it’s like a diamond between his lips. And all the time they fuck, giving and taking in equal measure.
What he wouldn’t do for just five minutes with those perfect tits! Imagining their softness, the way they’d bounce with every thrust, is enough to tighten his grip and increase his speed. But he’s been nearing that point regardless. His patience is paying off: the slow embers of his climax kindle in his lower belly, his balls heavy with their unspent load even as clear drops dribble down his shaft and onto his hand. Eyes squeeze shut again in concentration. A strangled “mmmm” at the pressure. Almost there…
“Almost there,” he groans, fingers scrabbling at her back. “Please can I cum inside, really want-“
“Yes,” she grants him permission in an airy voice. “Touch me?”
Without disrupting the rhythm, his left hand snakes between their damp bodies to the juncture of her thighs, thumb seeking and finding the little prize. Rubbing tiny circles over the nub, he delights in her arched back and trembling pants. It serves to fuel his own growing passion, and he begins thrusting faster. “That’s it…take what you need, take it, take it,” he murmurs, wholly devoted to his tasks. Is he speaking to her or himself?
“Yes,” he hisses, “take it.” His hard-on kicks against his palm and he grunts at the sudden shock of pleasure. He can’t possibly hold out much longer.
“So fuckin’ close,” she shivers, rocking on him as though she’ll never get this chance again. “I’m so close, baby…”
“Cum for me,” he orders (though not unkindly), thumb still massaging her tender clit. “Wanna hear you, sweet girl.”
He’s properly fucking his fist now, the very thing he swore he wouldn’t do at the start of all this, but quite frankly he doesn’t care. It feels incredible, the closer he edges to the precipice.
She falls apart with a scream, clenching around him, her hands yanking on his hair or lightly pressing his throat. By contrast, he almost sobs when he finally blessedly lets go: his hips jerk as he fills her with his seed, his brain empty of any thought but the urge to hold her and keep her.
Somehow, he has the presence of mind to cover his mouth with his unoccupied hand as he cums. He knows how loud he can be…and selfishly, he wants no one else to hear him moan her name. If he can’t have her tonight, he wants that sound.
Afterward (how long has it been? A few seconds? An hour? It’s hard to tell when your bliss is so great), they collapse on the bed. Their high dissipates gradually: breathing evens, hearts slow. Neither makes a move to clean up or dress just yet. Simply to lie together, exchanging kisses and tracing patterns on flushed skin, is more than enough.
There are a million things he could say, a litany of poetics he could charm her with…but all that emerges is “I love you.”
“You do?” she grins, brushing hair back from his forehead.
“‘Course I do. If I could have anyone in the galaxy, I’d choose you every time.”
Hooking a leg over his hip, she snuggles against his his chest. “The feeling’s mutual, starlight.”
He hopes it always is.
“Oh, shit….” He’d had a suspicion his orgasm would be intense, but…when was the last time he’d cum this much? Thick, pearly ropes of the stuff splattered across his stomach and chest, some oozing onto his hand (still clutching his softening cock like his life depends on it). With a groan of effort, he fishes in the drawer of his bedside table until he finds a spare rag and wipes himself down. It takes a few passes, but eventually he’s clean enough to put off bathing until morning.
Rolling onto his back, he stares at the ceiling, an acute wave of loneliness pulsing through him. In the midst of his fantasy he could forget it, but now the bed feels rather empty and cold. To have her there would be his only wish…but for all the Force can accomplish, it can’t teleport people just by thinking of them.
So he drifts to sleep on his own for another night. But before he does, he whispers her name like a prayer to the shadows…and then:
“Love you.”

to that anon I got about my last posts: if you're hurt that I'm talking about antisemitism on tumblr rather than the Israel/Palestine conflict itself then you're going to have to make your peace with a star wars blog not being an effective platform for activism.
This is the point I've been trying to hammer home perfectly illustrated. I deviated ever so slightly from what's allowed on the subject to say that I can't participate in this website's idea of 'raising awareness' (distributing real facts and misinfo alike without a care and being a bunch of fanatic Jew haters in the process) and that I don't think I'm able to critically and accurately examine every piece of news that gets passed around here, and you're taking this to assume I don't care. So no, I'm not going to spend my time trying to prove that I do care to that particular crowd.
You're upset with me for not treating this like I did fandom and assuming I value fictional characters more than real people because of it, but it's precisely because this is infinitely more important that I'm not going to be doing real people the disrespect of giving my two cents on their suffering and deaths on the same platform I did STAR WARS.

Fandom Opinion Chart + Explanations Under the Cut
Tumblr media
I love Giulietta, it's as simple as that,,, her character growth from her selfish attitude towards her sister before the game, to trying to make her way into high society, to returning to her roots but finding love in a man supposed to be her enemy, to trying to stop the gang war that takes almost everything from her, to later leading a resistance against a dictator is incredible to watch. She's the real main character of Crimson Banks and Capital Peak idc. She endures so so much heartache, I cried both times I played In Love and War, that case genuinely makes me feel ill, and yet she manages to get back up because she's just that strong. I hope she was happy after the game ended.
On the other hand, I despise Jack. He makes several sexist comments throughout the game (I've half a mind to compile them to prove my point), and I have no idea how someone as immature and annoying as him managed to get a job in Interpol. His relationship drama with Asal is insufferable to sit through, and the way he constantly whines about her in South America and North America months after they broke up made me want to throw my phone, especially with the awful way he treats her after she's stabbed and almost died. And then in Travel in Time, he's just boring.
I initially didn't like Samson at first because he killed one of my favorite characters for a stupid reason (accompanied by a confusing message--how was Malcolm supposed to know Archie's death was targeted towards him?) but now I love him because his plan was so dumb and he's fun to meme on and he's REALLY hot.
Nebet is like my favorite main antagonist and it's so sad that she's gone for like two whole districts because even though I saw it coming, her betrayal HURT. Like 99% of s6's writing effort went into her, and she would have been a good antagonist even if she hadn't returned after killing her father, but the fact that she comes back and kills her younger self because she changed in exile makes her such an interesting character. I want to know so much about her, her thoughts while she was working with the team, and especially her epiphanies in exile, how she changed in exile and decided to turn against her parents and their goals. That's incredible fanfic material. She's also incredibly beautiful just LOOK AT HER.
Trevor Finn sucks. Fake af shark "expert" who probably just gave himself that title after watching Jaws but never bothered doing any research about sharks because he just spews misinformation and stereotypes about sharks that aren't true. For some reason, Pacific Bay really hated sharks. But other than that, there's not much else to mention about him, when with Jack I at least have stuff to complain about.
I realllly don't like Rozetta and do NOT think she was redeemed, even if Denise was a greater evil. I feel like people brush over the fact that she was KIDNAPPING AND TORTURING HOMELESS PEOPLE TO DEATH. She abducted who knows how many people and conducted horrific, torturous human experimentation on them that only one person (Zoe) survived, and nothing indicated she felt any remorse for those crimes, she only started fighting against Denise when Denise betrayed her and her friends. And even though Zoe escaped, Rozetta started the chain of events that led to Zoe's death. However, that being said, Rozetta is really, really pretty.
Archie is a millionaire and yet he dresses so drab. Lawson isn't as rich as Archie, and yet he dresses more fancy. Also Archie's collar looks weird and like his tie would be strangling him or something
I don't really talk about Penelope, but she (besides Nebet) is my favorite main character of s6! I relate to her a lot because we both like history and writing. I think we'd get along great talking to each other about story ideas, fangirling about fandoms, and talking about history.
Seamus x Giulietta is my favorite because Giulietta is my favorite character and I'm a sucker for tragic, star-crossed lovers. Got really emotionally attached to them even though I knew they wouldn't have a happy ending. Honorable mentions go to Arthur x Bernadine, Archie x Elisa, and Hope x Gwen.
Speaking of Hope x Gwen, they should have been canon instead of Gwen x Pierce. I hate this ship so much. Hope and Gwen had much more chemistry, and the FIRST DISTRICT in s7 proved why Gwen and Pierce wouldn't work out, and then out of nowhere Pierce shows up??? And gets back with Gwen randomly??? Huh??? And they have a kid??? Why. Hope was RIGHT THERE if you wanted someone to comfort Gwen after her mother's death and the complicated relationship she had with her.
I also don't talk about her as much as I should, but I love Priya! I love her character arc, her relationship with Zander is very sweet and well built up throughout the season, and her being a werewolf made her character arc all the more interesting. She's also just a very genuinely kind person, and I feel like she would have been a really good chemistry tutor when I was struggling with it in school lol
Given how annoyed I get with classmates and coworkers who are poor communicators, I would despise being around someone like Frank who's always late, drinking whenever he can, and who treats his female boss incredibly disrespectfully. Plus he eventually becomes a corrupt police officer and yeah, not a fan of those. Wouldn't want to be around one irl. He certainly needs professional help, but I am not the one to give it.
