If you could find a way to save Seamus. Would you have also given him and Giulietta a proper happy ending, despite the fact he unintentionally killed Vittorio?
Well, I'm not sure if I could give them a “proper happy ending,” given that even if Seamus survived, he still killed a man (even if unintentionally) and escaped prison. So, the 10-year sentence he was serving is bound to increase after the events of Crimson Banks!
But that doesn't mean he and Giulietta can't have at least a better ending. Given that they got back together in canon before Seamus died, I think it's reasonable to assume she would have waited for him to get released. Likewise, she would visit him in prison while he served his time, even when people might try to convince her to move on and stop wasting her time waiting. Those two love each other, and if they can forgive and move past all the bloodshed and loss they've endured, I think waiting 10+ years for Seamus to be released from prison is nothing compared to the pain and suffering they went through.
So, while it might not be “happily ever after” for them just yet, I think they would eventually get there if Seamus survived Crimson Banks. I wish their love story had a better ending, but I don't think I could save Seamus in my series, given how vital his death is to the plot… But that's what AU fanfics exist for! If they can't have a happily ever after in one world, we'll just have to give it to them in another!
Thanks for the ask!✨
#oh i absolutely agree that she'd visit him#maybe even every day#I can imagine them putting their hands up to “touch” each other on the glass separating the two of them#or if there's a small slot there the two of them at least touching fingers or holding hands as much as possible#as long as seamus doesn't get jumped by an angry member of the italian gang#or someone in the irish gang too given he “betrayed” them#and there were probably other people in the gang besides adrienna who shared her sentiments#giulietta capecchi#seamus o'neill#criminal case mysteries of the past

Hi! it's me again the one who ask you the Rochester reaction if Arthur and bernadine have a child, um as you can see this question just got into my head and I wonder if Arthur and bernadine have a child and it's a girl umm I wonder how the Rochester's treated Arthur and Bernie child especially it is a girl just curious and maybe I might ask about this again but with boy version but maybe next month if I remember about this and yes I'm obsessed with this ship haha
And no pressure to answer this I just want to get this out of my head
Hi again!
Hmmm… Good question! The treatment would vary by the family member, so let me think on how each of the Rochesters would act if Arthur and Bernadine had a daughter…
Horatio Rochester:
Horatio would believe that Bernadine's having a daughter was a waste since, despite having daughters himself, Horatio considers them less than men. So, until the girl displays a talent or skill that he deems valuable, Horatio probably makes no effort to be in the girl's life beyond family events.
Leopold Rochester:
He wouldn't care if his niece had a daughter or son; Leopold would simply be happy to have a new member of the family to love! He doesn't strike me as a man who believes women are inferior to men (at least not to the extent some of his relatives do), so he would see nothing wrong with the child being a girl. I imagine watching her grow up would often remind him of Bernadine when she was little, and seeing the girl do so many things her mother did at her age would always make Leopold happy. I bet he might have even saved some of Bernadine’s clothes, toys, and books from her childhood and passed them on to her daughter when she was old enough to enjoy and appreciate them, just as her mother had
Patricia Rochester:
I bet Patricia would adore it if Arthur and Bernadine had a daughter! Even if her mind isn’t what it used to be, seeing their daughter might remind her of her own and bring back happy memories of Clarissa as she was growing up. Whenever they visited Patricia, she would light up with joy and love spending time with the child, telling her stories and playing with her. After spending so much time suffering in darkness, the girl would be such a bright light in Patricia’s life.
Malcolm Rochester:
Malcolm would be in a similar group as Horatio; he thinks women are less than men, so he doesn't pay much attention to his niece. But given that Bernadine is his sister, he might be more present in the girl's life compared to Horatio. However, I can see him pressuring his niece to be the best and that anything less than perfect is a failure.
Veronica Rochester:
I feel like even though Veronica wouldn't be very interested in her sister-in-law's kids, if Bernadine and Arthur had a daughter, I think she might give her a little more attention than a son. Given that Veronica owns a very lucrative business in what I can only assume is a heavily male-dominated industry, she might be inclined to spend time with her niece to teach her not to let men walk all over her. It may not be for all the right reasons, but Veronica would be more open to a niece than a nephew.
Clarissa Rochester:
Even though we don't officially meet Clarissa, I think she would love for Bernadine and Arthur to have a daughter. Similar to Veronica, but with different beliefs, she seemed like the type of woman who encouraged other women not to let men dominate their lives. I could see Clarissa spending time with the girl whenever she could to teach her things society might consider “men's work.” I think Clarissa would be happy to have a new Rochester-born girl in the family to help balance out the family dynamics.
Rockley Rochester:
Rockley wouldn't care if his cousin had a daughter or son; he just enjoys making children happy with his chocolates and candies. So long as the girl has a sweet tooth, they'll get along great! He'd probably give her private tours of the factory and take her to work with him some days, sending her home with lots of sweets that would surely make Bernadine scold Rockley for getting her daughter high on sugar. But what kind of a fun, uncle-like cousin would he be if he didn't occasionally spoil her?
Larry Rochester:
Boy, girl, it wouldn't matter to Larry; he'd want NOTHING to do with the kid whatsoever! He probably would be like that sleazy drunk relative people avoid at reunions, making gross/annoying comments and being a general nuisance. The girl probably wouldn't know anything about Larry beyond him being a drunk who's never worked a day in his life and would rather go out partying than spend quality time with his family. She probably steered clear of him and likewise, Larry wouldn't go out of his way to talk to her.
Archie Rochester:
I think Archie would like it if his Aunt Bernadine had a daughter because I feel like the girl would remind him of his aunt, and he would feel a more natural connection to her than if Bernadine had a son. This is not to say that Archie wouldn’t connect with his aunt’s son, but I think it would be easier to connect with her daughter. I think Archie would want to treat the girl with love and compassion like Bernadine did for him. Like Leopold, he would see his aunt in her daughter and want to keep that spark shining bright and not let the more toxic Rochesters snuff it out. Of course, he’d make mistakes along the way, but he’d learn from them to set a good example for the girl. I believe Bernadine did something similar for Archie when he was growing up, being crushed under the weight of such high expectations from his parents, so he wants to thank her for helping him by being there for her daughter.
And… That’s all I’ve got! Hopefully, some of these didn’t go to OOC for some of the Rochesters, but overall, I think the majority of the Rochesters would enjoy having a new girl in the family, while some would prefer a boy. Man, I wish S4 was longer so I could give Arthur and Bernadine an OC child… I know I could still technically give them one even if they're just referenced in a future season or something, but it would be nice to write about those two as parents…
But I’m digressing. Thank you for the ask!✨
#larrys that one uncle at thanksgiving everyone has to mentally prepare for#i feel like rockley would be a bad babysitter not because he's a bad person#but because he'd be like “and this is where we make the chocolate!” while sitting right next to boiling liquids with the kid#getting excited to show them/anyone everything and not thinking how what he's doing is putting them both at risk#i also really like veronica seeing her almost as an heir#maybe someone to give her business to to keep it out of malcolm's hands#patricia would certainly be great with kids! i just know it#criminal case mysteries of the past#the rochesters

Ooh I wasn't even thinking about Viola, but that would be an interesting contrast between how she reacts and how Arthur reacts when being "charmed" by Horatio! Viola is blinded by the fact that she's found her biological father, but Arthur has no such personal connection to Horatio, and he certainly wouldn't trust him the way she did (I honestly have huge beef with how Viola was written in that arc but...that's a rant for later....)
But the idea of Horatio being so sneaky and manipulative that even Bernadine doesn't realize it---ouch 😭I can't imagine how guilty she'd feel if she unintentionally helped him, considering she firmly refused to spy on Arthur in canon. Iconic woman frfr
You're so thoughtful, I love hearing your thoughts!
Hello again, you get to deal with me once more!
Sorry to talk again about Bernadine and Arthur, but something I've always wondered is this: if Bernadine married Arthur, she'd technically be marrying out of the family and no longer be a Rochester by name. I wonder what Horatio would do in that sense, he'd certainly still want her to spy on the family's behalf especially due to her marriage, but I wonder how he'd act with Arthur as his in-law, if he'd pretty much ignore the fact that he's Bernadine's husband and still include Bernadine in like family meals or something, or if he'd think Bernadine should have only courted Arthur but not actually married him to avoid leaving the family and creating legal/cultural ramifications, if that makes sense
You say that like it's a bad thing!🥰
(Also, I promise to message you soon about that Vinnie idea. Between my birthday and things happening online and IRL, this week has been a right off!😅)
As for your question, don't worry! I understand the explanation!😊
I have thought about this before, and I believe Horatio would treat Arthur similarly to how he treated Viola after discovering she was his daughter. Not exactly the same, but that's where the theory comes from. While Arthur might not be from a family like the Rochesters, he still holds a high position as Chief of the Flying Squad, and we know Horatio would use that "in" to his advantage like he did with Viola. I don't think Horatio would put on as much of an act as he did with Viola, but he might "play nice" to get closer to Arthur to try and use his power for his benefit.
As for Bernadine, Horatio probably always knew she would marry out of the family since she was a woman, but he expected her to marry someone of a similar class, not a police officer. Even if Arthur is a Chief. He would probably use her marriage to spy on the police and keep tabs on things through her, but he would be smart enough to do it in a way that Bernadine might not realize what her uncle is doing and just think he's being uncharacteristically friendly.
Horatio would still acknowledge their existence and marriage, but unless they're useful to him, he wouldn't do more than he has to. He'd also keep a close eye on them to ensure they're upholding the family's image even if Bernadine isn't a Rochester by name anymore. She is still technically a Rochester, and Horatio wouldn't let her marriage to Arthur allow her to tarnish the Rochester name! He's got a reputation to uphold, don't you know...🙄
Thanks for the ask!✨

Lucas: "I needed something that - sort of remind people of the real issue here is trying to save Padmé, and that that's what his conflict is, and that's why he's emotionally going back and forth, and it's very easy to have the audience believe that Anakin is miffed because he doesn't get to go on the mission, that he's angry because he's not a Master, and this scene is really designed to remind you that his real problem is that he just doesn't want to lose her and he knows that if the Emperor is killed, then any chance he has of saving her is going to be gone, that the Emperor is his only hope to saving her, which obviously drives him back to the Emperor's office." [Anakin's fatal decision] - George Lucas in Revenge of The Sith DVD commentary
For the people who think the reason behind Anakin’s emotional turmoil is because he’s a “whiny child who didn’t get his rank of Master.” That’s not why. The whole time the reason behind his distress and frustration throughout the movie is how he’s going to save the one love of his life, and George wanted people to know that.
#people focus on the clunky/cheesy dialogue in the romance scenes#and not the fact that he's madly in love with padme#all the women in his life are so important to him#he loves them so much and would burn the galaxy for them#and he did#star wars prequels#anakin skywalker#anidala#padme amidala#revenge of the sith

KILLING BERNADINE WOULD BE DIABOLICAL ASTRA how dare you even consider it/j no but that would be interesting! That, or even if Archie was a suspect for Leopold's case, would bring out a really interesting vulnerable side to him potentially, especially if Bernadine was killed. Samson be killing everyone except the actual guy he has beef with 💀
And things would be super interesting if Malcolm died and Archie was a suspect! The second interrogation about how Malcolm treated Archie would still work, just from Archie's POV. I really wonder how Archie would react if one of his parents was murdered.
I really like thinking of what would have happened if Archie lived, thanks for the fanfic shoutout! Whether Samson tries to kill him but fails, Archie isn't attacked and the Rochesters win, or Archie is alive during Justin's rule, I really like imagining AUs! But I really like him dying, too, as a conclusion to his arc---showing that your own ambition, your family's ambition, destroys you.
I'm so sorry I keep yapping and spamming you 😭
but! What you said about Archie got me curious! If you did save him (and I'm not saying you have to/should feel obliged to! This is a MURDER mystery franchise after all lol) what would you write instead regarding him, his father, and his killer?
(Samson Drake could decide not to kill Archie in favor of spending time with me/j)
But in all seriousness, I'd love to hear any random thoughts/ideas you have, even if you do end up sticking with canon!
Never apologize for sending me questions! I love getting them! Spammed and all!🥰
Hmmm… I don't have the greatest memory of the case, but one option could be that Samson skipped the middleman, went straight to the top, and killed Malcolm. Or he could have killed another Rochester who's close to Malcolm like Veronica. OR, to be very diabolical, kill Bernadine, which opens up the possibility of switching out suspects to have characters like Archie and Arthur be flagged instead! But I would hate to kill Bernadine off, so I wouldn't go this route. However, it's an option regardless.
(Or Samson could meet a lovely shark enthusiast who makes him forget about the murder, thus saving Archie and getting rid of that case entirely!😊)
But regardless of who dies in Archie's place, some things would remain the same. Such as Malcolm being dismissive of his son and Samson hating Archie and the rest of the Rochesters. Other aspects of the case would change, like clues and motives depending on who dies, but I'd probably have to make an entire storyboard to outline all those details!
I doubt that if Archie survived, Malcolm would become a better father towards him even if it was somehow revealed that Samson planned to kill Archie. However, that could be the gateway to Archie sticking up for himself against his father and him changing to be better. I don't know if Archie could be fully redeemed for the whole “Mr. Alastor” thing, but getting away from Malcolm's toxic influence and spending more time with the better Rochesters (like Bernadine) would do Archie some good!
As for events that happened after that case, like the Justice Corps, I think you answered that wonderfully in your story “Blood Goes to Waste.” Archie might finally see the errors of his ways (nearly dying can do that to a person) and decide he doesn't want to grow up and become his father. He wants to be himself and forge his own path to a better future once the JC is defeated.
Thanks for the ask!✨
