Detective Grimoire is a comfort character in the sense where he needs to through immense pain and every mild annoying thing that I do to get a rise outta him while The Little Girl is a comfort character in the sense that she is literally me and if anything negative happens to her I will go ape shit and die

Ooh interesting question. I never thought too hard on that, but thinking about it right now, I feel like her inclusion in the group would have to happen at some point during the night after the others actually manage to catch up with her. (It'd be fun if she was actually one of the college students at her age and she was an 11-and-a-half-year-old genius but that would be unlikely lol.)

Once she joins the group, I think she still wouldn't talk, so it would be pretty awkward all around. That also means she wouldn't be helpful to the others the way that they want her to be, so that would affect how the others treat her, especially in the beginning.

Angela wasn't a fan of her from the start, but once Melissa is part of the group she would be more humanized in Angela's eyes. I think Angela would soon stop trying to interact with her, but there would probably come a point where Angela sides with Melissa against John, who would basically see her as a dead end for information and probably be pretty callous about it. He would treat her like one of his students if/when she's in danger though. Taylor would continue thinking it's all way too creepy, but Daniel would mainly just see a lost little kid, so for the rest of the night he'd be trying to get her to talk or at least smile, and Taylor would eventually relax about her (it might end up being Taylor joking around or something that gets the most response from her). Andrew would not try to talk to her, but he'd look out for her and sometimes attempt to speak on her behalf, particularly if the question ever comes up that Mary's double might not be good to have around.

Also I do already have a concept for a rather dark background for her where she lost her parents and was taken into an abusive foster home that looks good from the outside (she goes to a private school based on her uniform), and she ran away from there the day of the college field trip and intentionally put herself in the path of the oncoming bus.

I'm not sure if any of this was exactly answering the question but hopefully it's interesting anyway 😂
