Monkie Kid fandom, genuine question. When we call the little girl that got possessed by the Lady Bone Demon "Bai He" which one do y'all mean:

The 3 versions translate to, 1) Lily (Flower), 2) White River, and 3)White Crane.

Now, the interesting thing, at least for me, (someone who had no say in the "We are now calling her Bai He" decision), is that the Lady Bone Demon's name (Bái ​Gǔ ​Jīng) also starts with the "Bái ​" sound, and the Pīnyīn for it is found in the 2 later options for the Name Bai He:

I am assuming this is no accident. And however popularized the name intentionally used the "Bái / 白" to tie the nameless girl to the Lady Bone Demon. It makes sense, since most of what we see of Bai He is her being possessed, and as beloved as she is by the fandom, we sadly don't have much cannon material to work with.

Now, to the point of the post.

Just want to see the though process of the people. Also, my knowledge of Mandarin/ Chinese is very, very limited, so feel free to correct me if I got something wrong.

Oh she’d be a terror but honestly she probably never had a period? She was too malnourished before the shinigami academy and learned how to deal with it via medical kidou soon after. Bloody hell, Moonlight Mystique is piling up the tragedies.

Halfway past the middle, and we have everything that happened to Bai Shuo, everything that happened to Fan Yue, all of Tian Huo's backstory and what happened to her parents, the whole story of Rong Xian and Ling Long, followed by the whole story of Chang Mei and Mu Jiu, followed by what happened between Mu Jiu and Tian Huo, and now there's the whole thing with Cang Shang and Chen Ye, who Chen Ye really is and what happened to him, and whatever is going on with Chong Zhao and Fu Ling and who Fu Ling really is.

Nobody is happy and everybody is traumatised in this realm.

as for npmd (characters who have a speaking role): brenda. hearing her talk the first time made my soul float out of my body. i didn't recognize it as bryce; i thought they genuinely got a teenager to be brenda. it just took me off guard how real she was. compared to everyone else matching their stereotype, brenda acts like. a regular teenager

I must not qualify my answers with “I might be wrong”. Qualifying my answers with “I might be wrong” is the confidence killer. Qualifying my answers is the little time-wasting digression that brings total obliteration of my credibility.

alright, since the Remedy brainworms got me I've been replaying Control, got to the AWE expansion last night and picking up on all the echoes/foreshadowing for Alan Wake 2 is making me go utterly bonkers, but like. has anyone picked up on or talked about how in all of Alan's Hotline messages to Jesse, when he's writing about her POV, he exclusively calls her 'Faden'

like, maybe it didn't poke my brain the first time I played it since he does the same thing when talking about Hartman, but coming from AW2 it's pretty jarring as a stylistic oddity...almost like there's a reason (in-universe and/or out-of-universe) that he doesn't call her 'Jesse'...almost like there's only one Faden in his story...

and given how in AW2 we also get some (quasi-) clarification regarding the limits of Alan's ability to "make stuff up" vs alter and rewrite "real-world" events that he sees in clairvoyant flashes...given the Night Springs screenplay pages you can find in AWE that parallels the FBC and the events of Control (i.e. a Director and a Scientist opening a portal to another dimension, finding an eldritch Entity, the Director trying to take its power for himself and then getting taken over before shooting himself)...given how literally all of the "dreams" Dylan tells Jesse about are descriptions/viewings of stuff that takes place on one level of reality or another ("I was the director and you were an intern"; "we were in a game, and it was a fucking boring game but you couldn't stop playing it"; Mister Door, and "a world with a writer writing about a cop, and another world where the writer was real"; a "musical" about Jesse), except, seemingly, the dream about "Jesse Dylan Faden"...
