hotter than hell
[ID: Digital art of Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun Maximum in their alternative universe form based off an angel Vash and Devil Wolfwood illustration Nightow did. The both of them are sitting side by side, exhausted from the heat, Vash has his arms crossed, leaned against his knees and his head against his arms, eyes closed as sweat drips from his face. His wings spreads over the both of them to shield them from the sun. Wolfwood is sitting with his right leg extended and his left leg with the knee slightly up. His eyes are also closed with a clear grimacing expression. He uses one of his small devil wings to fan Vash, the text effect reads “flap flap”. Being in the shadows, the palette is cool, blues and purples. A sliver of light shines on the parts not covered by wings in a bright orange/yellow. END ID]

Vash's face when he was reaching for the rope Meryl threw at him is hilarious.

A bit late to the book club. Here are two hilarious panels of Wolfwood mansplaining plants to Vash for the sake of exposition.

Trigun Ultimate Fan Guide Volume #1 (Geneon second edition, 2004) and Book #2 (Pioneer first edition, 2002) front and back covers.
Scanned by me.
Information and me rambling about the books beneath the cut:
In addition to episode summaries, character bios, and general information about the show, these books contain Trigun-related game materials for the "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" (abbreviated as "BESM") TTRPG system produced by Guardians of Order.
While I've never used them for the game, I've read the show guide portions many times. There are some mistakes by the author but otherwise it's a really nicely done fan guide. The guide section is printed in full color and has TONS of screenshots (albeit low quality) and official artworks. The game portion is black and white and in addition to the game information, there's lots of great quality scans of set materials (larger than the versions in the Roman Album artbook!!). If you're a big fan of the 1998 anime, I definitely recommend picking them up if you get the chance!
I found the copies pictured above for sale together years ago at an anime convention, I think it's interesting how there are actually 2 editions (due to Pioneer becoming Geneon in 2003) and that I managed to end up with one of each version.....
There's also a combined hardcover version of these books called Trigun D20 that was published in 2004 under the Geneon name. I've seen a PDF version of it, I think a few minor things are omitted from the guidebook portions but I have not analyzed them closely enough to be 100% sure. I am also unsure if the game portion is altered due to it being advertised for the D20 system on the cover, but there's still a mention of BESM on the back. honestly I know nothing about TTRPGs so I really have no idea what any of this really means lmao

When Vash the Stampede says, I won’t say all humans are great. However, most of the time you don’t know the person you’re dealing with. But knowing their situation can change how you perceive their actions. The world keeps on turning whether you understand them or not. And when the humanoid typhoon says, If you shoot someone with a gun, they die. But if you don’t arm yourself, you can’t defend yourself. I’ll never kill anyone. And I’m willing to do whatever it takes so that doesn’t happen. I’ve done everything, anything I could - that is how I’ve lived my life. and when Meryl Stryfe asks, What’s going to happen, and the 60 billion double dollar man says, I don’t know, but one thing is for sure; whatever the response will be, it’ll determine everything. Whether it’s good or bad, doesn’t matter. What matters is that you communicate. That you understand the person next to you is breathing and existing, and you let there be love and peace in this world. And then after all of that and more, the whole story ends with Far from here, in a distant time and place, the song of humanity still sings.

finished trigun 1&2 and idk it probably makes more sense to pick up stampede season 2 where trimax starts but i cant stop thinking what if the events of stampede are a direct prequel to the second half of the original manga. like vash comes out of hiding because he hears whispers of knives’ return but he genuinely can’t remember meryl or ww or the specifics of anything leading up to what happened at july. when meryl finds him she says she’s just hanging around because it’s her job but really she’s been searching for him for years and vash finds her presence strangely comforting even though he thinks he doesn’t know her. wolfwood hasn’t been able to leave the eye of michael because of his brother and the kids but he’s a priest now and he’s doing what he can. vash is the one who first sees ww in the desert and there’s a strange itch in his brain when he sees the man in black carrying a cross through the sand. wolfwood is so relieved to see vash again and that’s why his reaction to ‘meeting’ vash is so exuberant and he touches the face of the so-called stranger so familiarly. he’s relieved that meryl also found vash and she and ww share a look of acknowledgement but they can’t talk can’t indicate that they know each other because it raises too many questions but they stick with vash for as long as they can because they missed him so so bad and they know he needs someone looking after him

To Vash the Stampede, the Humanoid Typhoon, the only thing more dangerous than a hit man with a military background is an insurance agent.
