Star Stable Affiliate Program

About an hour ago, Star Stable announced their affiliate program via their Instagram story/reels. Basically, you promote the game with a special link. People who sign up/buy the game with your link earn you a commission.

On the one hand, it's nice they can reward content creators for the promotion they're already doing.

But this IS NOT the Ambassador Program. This program doesn't offer behind the scenes, feature testing, or an open forum for community feedback. This program is purely financial.

You do get an account manager to support you, but it seems like it's just for your promotion campaigns and not for game feedback.

Look, I'm not in this game to make money. I adore this game with autistic passion and I just want other people to know about it and use what little voice I have to make it better.

If this is the replacement for the ambassador program, that's extremely disappointing for me.

Apparently SSO has made official playlists for the dark riders that they did not promote anywhere? Also, full canon sigils for all of them!

I have some strong thoughts about some of the song selection (especially since they seem to have some sort of mandatory “put this many sso-affiliated songs on it” thing going on. And then they didn’t even add Dark Riders for Katja) but I won’t go in depth about that here.

Safe to say that the non-sso-song choices are the actually interesting parts of these playlists, though.

Nikolaj and Nikita Zakhaev were born through the extramarital affair of Viktor Zakhaev and Oksana Makarova, the older sister of Konni Group commander and ultranationalist leader Vladimir Makarov in 2005. Although their legitimacy was a point of contention through the family, Viktor's involvement with their childhood was somewhat minimal, leaving their uncle as their father figure and influence.

Oksana didn't want her children to follow in the family business, but hoped that they'd have a place in the new world order her younger brother aspired to create out of the ashes of the western world.

Both boys attended relatively good schools and lived their lives publicly under the "Makarov" surname, only dropping it when they were old enough to join the movement, and have their legitimacy acknowledged by their grandfather before his death in his will.

Both Kita and Kolya received informal training under their uncle and their family friend, Yuri. It was Kolya who was the more "naturally talented" and gifted of the two. Makarov encouraged Kolya to nurture his sadistic and ruthless tendencies, and had Nikita keep his more fragile brother's mind from breaking.

When working together, they are a threat almost equivalent to Makarov himself, perfect extensions of his power in the form of two young lieutenants. Should anything happen to him, they will carry on what he started.

Kolya was born with a sensitive immune system and an allergy to fish his father thought could be cured by just feeding him it. Growing up, Kolya was more or less outcasted for being more asocial, only comfortable around his family.

Eventually the emotional little Kolya was discovered to be able to switch his empathy on and off as his mentors guided him and hoped to shape him into a perfect leader for their intentions. The Ultranationalists saw him as the natural next in line for their values, and the secretive Perseus group saw him as a potential candidate for their own plans.

The only one he is sure is not using him for an ulterior goal is his twin, who makes sure he remembers that the validation of others he desperately seeks will not be worth losing his autonomy and control- the very thing they're convinced they're fighting for.

I want to clarify some points right now as the website is already in progress:

This is a fan project, I'm not affiliated to SSE in any way. I think the ones knowing my posts about SSO already understood it lol.

This is free and will remain free. If anyone ask you for money it's not me, and it's not related to the project. Be careful, SSO is full of scammers and liars.

I'll manage this project alone, so if anybody offers you to work for it or make content for it, it's a lie.

Despite being the first one ready for some good ol' popcorn in the chat, I won't create any gossip/tea/rumors post on that website, these memories, I suggest you to keep it for yourself. When the discord associated will be created, there'll be a zone for that, but any trouble maker will be kicked out.

I think it's obvious but I'll still precise it: I have a life outside, and other projects outside of SSO, so if I don't reply quickly, no need to be angry.

EDIT: I checked at the first form replies and I wanted to clarify something: this website won't be like a private server to play, it'll be more like an encyclopedia where you'll find old videos, fanarts, articles, theories, series & cie. In no way I have the abilities ( and money) to try to recreate a game, and I wouldn't do it because of laws. The closest I plan to do but it'll take more time is to create a roleplay forum based on the original game, but as I said, it takes time and I'm an adult who has to work, even if I'm more free due to work from home, I still have a limited time to work on it.

Ylva - She's not as inducted into the Keepers of Aideen as much as they'd like her to be, since Ylva wants to keep some semblance of independence. She also helps out the Rangers a fair bit.

Phoenix - She works at Starshine Ranch and and because of her girlfriend she ends up helping out the Rangers a lot.

Branwen - Generally keeps to herself, aside from annual coven meetings. Wants to learn more about the Vala but that's about it.

Calamity - Only affiliated with the circus

Ylva - She's a reincarnation of a goddess and has the powers of all four Circles

Branwen - She's a witch apprentice and has ancestry among the Vala, so once she gets a handle on her magic she'll be a real magic powerhouse

STAR STABLE AFFILIATE PROGRAM - DISCONTINUED

After about 7 months since it's announcement, the program has been cancelled. Affiliates received an email this morning informing them of the change citing:

While the program has generated interest, the resources required to maintain it have exceeded what we believe has been sustainable.

Affiliates then received a notification that their contracts were suspended.

As a former affiliate, I can say the program was promising, except that there was only ever one public campaign we could take part in. All other campaigns were seemingly reserved for specific creators and MCNs. It no doubt also cost them a bunch to run the program through an agency, and I'm not sure how supportive that agency was. I wouldn't be surprised if just those two "resources" were "unsustainable".

Anyway, no word yet if there will be a replacement or if they even have any interest in establishing another ambassador program. We likely won't hear anything on the matter anytime soon.

nova (like me) is from canada! she actually came to jorvik at age 11 when she was scouted by the jorvik ballet company, and became interested in horseback riding when her ballet master took her and her fellow students to see the circus - she was enamoured by vaulting!

technically nova lives with mrs holdsworth (who is essentially her adoptive mother), and that's the address where she like. gets all her mail lol. holdsworth is also more or less the only person who is relatively up to date on nova's whereabouts at any given point (eg. she was the only one who knew where she was during nova's stint in the wildwoods). in practice, nova's a nomad, and can't handle staying in one place for too long. currently she's stabling her herd in valedale, in exchange for them being used in druid activities (this is really reluctant, but when you're low on funds, you havent got many options lol). oh, there was also a period of about a year during which she lived in the little shack at the unfortunate dews' farm! this was way before maya staked claim to the property, and they never ran into each other while maya was caring for the livestock there, but i like to think that, since they're friends, maya lets her crash there every once in awhile

there was a period of time (roughly three months) during which nova was employed by the rangers at redwood point. she's affiliated with the keepers, but isn't exactly happy about it. she's really close with the moorlands, and worked at their summer camp for a couple terms. she's also a guest instructor with the bobcats!

(i've already answered the trophy one so i'm gonna skip it to avoid being redundant)

this is a wonderful question that i would love to answer in great detail, but i honestly dont think i can! i would say it needs its own post, but i think nova's life story is one that will be revealed (to everyone, including me) over time, through answering small questions, creating art, and making tweaks over time in compliance with (or defiance against) the existing canon of SSO (which is an ever shifting beast, but i genuinely enjoy the challenge!) essentially, i'd say that nova came to the island as a kid, experienced a falling out with her family, and never went back. there was a period of a few years (2016-2023, aka when i stopped playing the game and got the sudden inexplicable urge to come back) during which she travelled the world at large, but never went back to canada. at that time, she split her herd between the moorlands and herman to employ as lesson horses. it's been a labour of love for her to restore her bond with each of them as individuals. i havent figured out her in-canon reason for coming back to the island yet unfortunately! she also had a "love interest" (comp het) several years ago who experienced a tragic demise, and is the reason she left the island to begin with

yes! yes. the aforementioned "love interest" is absolutely one. she broke her foot at the moorland's summer camp which meant that she couldnt dance anymore, and also spurred her falling out with her parents. nova also has lingering issues with her eyesight in her left eye, following an accident involving a cross country course and a thorn bush (which is based on an injury from my irl cross country days lol)

North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs, who previously served as co-executive director and voting rights chief counsel for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, where she litigated numerous precedential voting rights lawsuits across the South, including two before the United States Supreme Court: a Texas redistricting case in 2018, and in 2019 Rucho v. Common Cause, the partisan gerrymandering case arising from North Carolina. 

Evan Milligan, executive director of Alabama Forward, a civic engagement network committed to “building power around progressive civic issues and movement towards greater freedom.” Milligan served as lead Plaintiff in Allen v. Milligan, a 2023 Supreme Court case in which it was ruled that Alabama’s new congressional district map violated the Voting Rights Act (VRA) by diluting the votes of Black residents.

NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund Attorneys John Cusick and Steve Lance, legal team members in a recent significant 26th Amendment voting rights case on behalf of PVAMU students, who have also litigated other voting rights and civil rights matters and advance related policy reforms.
