During the battle, Baul is shooked on how Silver and Sebek are good at dealing with horses to which Sebek replies that they're part fo the equestrian club so it's a natural thing for them

Yuu and Grim were about to get attacked by an Iron Man but Lilia comes in to defend them. BUT THEN LILIA PROCEEDS TO SMACK SILVER AND SEBEK BEING ALL "This is why I hate children 😒" 😭😭😭

After the battle we reach the castle (which is the castle in the Sleeping Beauty movie) AND THEN WE SEE THE KNIGHT OF DAWN

Anyways going back to the topic, we also get Henric, who is pretty much going "Meleanor if you don't get out of that castle right now we'll invade the castle together with the Knight of Dawn" AND JESUS FUCK HIS SPRITE 💀

It turns out the Knight of Dawn doesn't want any part of this either, cuz Henric wants Meleanor's magic orb and dragon egg (aka Malleus) since they're really precious things

Idk what's up with this chapter and their thing for turning characters into orphans cuz the Knight of Dawn is also an orphan adopted by the king 🧍‍♀️, and Henric tells him that if he can steal the orb maybe it could save the king and Leah

We then see Meleanor, WHO IS A FUCKING BADDIE SO DAMN REAL TWST YKNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE YOUR WOMEN 😍😍😍

WE ALSO SEE EGG MALLEUS AWWWW

Meleanor tells them that she was planning to take a nap with the egg but useless people interrupted that, and she refers to the egg as Malleus already 🥹. Lilia is just confused and asks how is she sure that the egg is a boy, in which Meleanor replies that a mother is always sure and knows that Malleus will grow up to be beautiful like his father, Leverne

But then she sees Sebek and Silver and makes them get down on their knees (MAAM I'LL ALSO GET DOWN ON MY KNEES FOR YOU 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️), she then goes on about how humans are weak and stuff. Lilia tries to defend them but Baul tells us about Meleanor's hatred for humans and that we might as well stay quiet

But then Lilia loses his shit as well and tries to tell Meleanor about the danger that's just waiting outside but Meleanor refuses, saying that she wants to fight because she's a mother who wants to protect egg Malleus (I swear I can't this update is making me cry 😭). So she tells everyone to escape with the egg while she fights the Knight of Dawn and we get this scene of Lilia holding on to egg Malleus

Meleanor tells them to leave but Lilia refuses. So out of anger, she zaps him which causes everyone to panic cuz he has the egg and Silver tries to stop it but Meleanor gets even more mad that she zaps him too like jesus this woman and her anger issues. Silver tries to plead with them to stop fighting because people who love each other don't fight

Meleanor replies that even if she doesn't make it, Malleus is still there. But Lilia tells her that Malleus can't hatch without the true love of a parent. BUT THEN WE GET THIS REVEAL THAT LILIA PROPOSED TO MELEANOR 200 YEARS AGO AND HE ALSO LOVED LEVERNE LIKE LILIA MELEANOR LEVERNE POLY RELATIONSHIP IS FUCKING REAL. Meleanor reassures Lilia that he will find a way to love Malleus since he also loved her and Leverne 🥹

She then summons thorns that drags Lilia and the rest away from the castle, saying her final goodbye to both Lilia and Malleus (I'm crying rn guys). Lilia tries to find a way back in to save Meleanor but Baul yells at him to calm down cuz he was still holding egg Malleus, and that Meleanor trusted them to protect the egg

Meleanor makes her appearance to the Knight of Dawn and Silver Owls, which starts another battle....

THE YAKUEI FANGAME

for those who don't know: there is a yakuei fangame!! for free!!! IN ENGLISH?!?!? that i am about to ramble about!! It's got great art, ForReal writing, and as much humour/😨 as NuCa itself 😊😊 also, (almost) everyone has animal traits. YE,A BOYE!!!!

The estimated playtime is 1.5hrs, but I spent 4 hrs trying to complete everything without a guide;;;;;;

Expectation: i bet it's a short visual novel! a oneshot but in game form? if the creator REALLY went hard with the gameplay, maybe they'd throw in a few choices? to unlock diff dialogue branches? an hour of content at most, probably. maybe fluff about yakuei living their everyday lives and being cute/silly together 😊

Reality: everyone in the clan is here. they are in character. their lives are all intertwined and there IS a plot. there are puzzles. multiple endings. multiple CGs. you will need to think. OOPS! EMOTIONS!! GET WRECKED!!! eiden is, as usual, in a neverending Situation and you WILL feel the effects. this is a full-ass game with mistakes lurking around every corner HOW LONG DID THIS TAKE TO MAKE??!?!?! i.e.,

looks like i managed to screenshot morb and aster ? i was probably so enamoured with morvay's roundness that i simply had to take a picture. HURRAY FOR FAMILIARS!!!! THEY'RE HERE!!!!!!! and they're bickering, like usual. these sprites are adorable. i stare at morb a while longer.

aster is EVERYONE's landlord. so powerful and cute at the same time. terrifying. i legit laughed tho because really, the writer has SYNCED UP with the nuca wavelength. plot holes? no such thing. everything is explained, but with reasons across the entire spectrum from Logical to Ridiculous 😆

BLADE AS A FLUFFY SOFT PUFFBALL 😭 AND HOW HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND DANTE'S TSUN-NESS . THEYRE SILLY TOGETHTTEHR!!!! blade dressing up as fluffy sphere is so precious… like how he would wear pajamas even though he doesn't need to sleep!!! he wants to look cute and dress up like his friends!! and have fun sleepovers together!!!!!!!!!

In retrospect, this was where i went wrong. At this point, i had ALREADY COMMITTED A GRIEVOUS ERROR. This early in the game, and i'm locked out of the true(?) ending!! WOOPS;;; I thought the game would be straightforward? HAH! Not to a tomfool such as myself!! This was the beginning of Me Making Every Possible Wrong Decision , thus extending my playtime to a time faaar longer than expected 😅. I am not a Gamer. Nor am i genre-savvy. my poor decisions have doomed me to wander through the assets for eternity, trying convoluted tactics that have no effect on the story, while not noticing the IMPORTANT stuff.

What did I do? I chose to accompany morv through the forest. "i don't want morv to be in danger! At least if eiden and yakumo are with him, there'll be less chance of him getting morvnapped!" WRONG! Morvay is perfectly capable of scouting by himself. i should have believed in him more. i shouldn't have tried to smother him with my love. this incubus is older than me, and i should have respected my elder's independence 😣😩

I do not wander deeper into the forest as a result. Straight to rei's we go. Mr. Science Bird sends me out on plant-picking duty, and I think I'm soooOOoo clever by gathering more plants+flowers than I need.

Rei says he only needs 3 of each, BUT THERE ARE MORE THAN 3 HERBS/FLOWERS IN EACH FIELD. Thus, I shall pick MORE than the minimum amount! Maybe it'll be like the Rainy Day event, where the virtualias will be the key to escaping the yokai realm...?? where every person who needs to escape , needs to have their own flower?? so if i gather up enough to save at LEAST yakumo and eiden, and maybe some others who might be trapped.......

WHY IS THERE ONE VIRTUALIA THAT I CAN'T REACH? ?!!?💢💢 (inhales deeply) it's fine. i'm sure the creators wouldn't have designed that so it would be a game breaker. besides, it's not ethical harvesting to take EVERY flower at once. i need to leave some behind so they can regenerate at a healthy rate. don't be greedy!! don't clear-cut the forests for their strange herbs/virtualia resources!!!!! (i later went back to both fields and clear-cut the forest floor of all their strange herbs/virtualia, since i was paranoid and thought i would need a pair of plants for every clan member in the game. i don't know why i thought that. i didn't even know what the plan was afterward. the numbers don't even work out!!!! i just collected EEVERYTHING I COULD REACH . IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. UNPREDICTABLE PLANT EMERGENCY)

I hand over the plants. Rei shoos me out. I panicked when we first finished chatting with rei because SUDDENLY, THERE WAS NO WIGGLY SERPENT BEHIND ME AND I WAS LIKE YAKUMO? YAKUMO WHERE DID YOU GO? YOU DIDN'T WANDER TOO FAR OFF, DID YOU? IF I GO INTO THE FOREST ON MY OWN, WILL EIDEN DIE? IS THIS WHERE IT ALL ENDS? YAKUMOOOOOOOOO WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU oh./ oh, there you are. HI!!!!!!! phew [yakumo and eiden have a cute lil moment by the campfire and i am relaxed, content, just chillin.]

I can't access the forest paths that I missed earlier, so I go ahead with the plot and tell Rei that the food is ready.

At the demon king's castle, i have a grand time investigating all the assets: - Discount statues - that suspicious bookcase (EVERY bookcase in this game became suspicious after I read that restaurant menu. I kept thinking kuya was going to pop out of one. That, or I had to collect 9 bookmarks from 9 separate bookshelves in order to gain the 9 Leaves of Respect kuya holds for eiden, which would somehow ensure a successful escape). - stained glass windows just like in the Nu World event - ominous clock ticking at me - that massive door that WON'T BUDGE? err.... well maybe it'll unlock after I explore the rest of the castle!

I find it a bit strange that the game would include so many clan members, but not quincy or kuya. maybe... they were too powerful to be dragged into a world like this? or they're super elusive and aren't meant to "show up" as obviously as the others??? <- delusional thinking. quincy and kuya ARE supposed to show up. skill issue.😑

So I explore the RIGHT side of the castle. um. and finally the doubts about yakumo are starting to solidify.

anyway. i'm wandering thru the flesh maze in which i check EVERY dead end. i try to INTERACT with every dead end. idk if there are multiple rooms hiding in here. i gotta be thorough (.there were not multiple rooms in there. flesh-scouring chump.)

Going through the game more carefully makes me realise how many things i missed. This... this is no joke. This game has LAYERS and GrassTheOriginator was noT PLAYING AROUND WHEN IT CAME TO THE DETAILS

FIRST OF ALL!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED LUNCH!!!! HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED LUNCH WITH YAKUMO'S BELOVED GRANDPARENTS?!?! i was positively negligent. how could i have not checked in with granma and granpa at every step of the way to make sure that they knew where we were and that they were both healthy and thriving. i cannot believe i only checked the house ONCE in my 1st playthrough. i missed out on eiden bullying yakumo + yakumo getting flustered + grandma's "youth are so lively♥ haha". HOW DARE I!!!!!

When I GET TO EXPLORE the forest paths i missed last time, Discovering the bed in the woods had me go🌲🌲 AHA!!!!!! YES! i knew something was missing from my first playthru!! i did NOT MEET EVERYONE and we all know eiden's not completely happy until we're with EVERYONE IN THE CLAN

The first time i tried pulling rei out, i felt so bad that i never tried again because why would i want to hurt rei?? the game dialogue actually changed to include his broken bones, so that means i did substantial damage. rei is delicate!! he doesn't like pain! i will treat him gently!!!!!

introduction: you know how you want to draw your favorite characters, but don't know where to start? you know, those characters with ridiculously difficult designs?

this is for ikevil. hope this helps

(there is no tracing whatsoever in this. this was all done by hand. analyzing anothers' artstyle is NOT a form of art stealing. people naturally learn from observing others. imitation is the highest form of flattery. this is not meant to disrespect natsume lemon in any way.) disclaimer, I am not a professional artist. these are not set in stone. these are just tips.

section 1 - observation

finding important traits

my writing sucks. let me sum it up for you

thin, angular features. thin nose, sharp eyebrows, elf sharp ears

his face is quite long. the chin is not completely sharp, it is more blunt.

william has an earring on his left ear.

large forehead to plant a kiss on

his smile is :>

his eyebrows are in a ] shape (I don't know how to describe it)

section 2 - study

imitating the original sprite

this is the part that gets tricky.

it helps me learn better because it translates the reference into something I can understand. it's also so I don't forget anything (so many accessories...)

I crudely slapped the colors from the original onto my imitation to save time 😭😭

let's break down his design.

hair

monstrosity. aesthetically pleasing to look at. but drawing it? hell. I have color-coded it into pieces here:

magenta: back hair. very spiky and a bit long. it's a bit poofy on top (at least on the main sprite)

red: extends outwards. try to have the part dangling down cover the end of the hairline.

yellow: think of it like a little extension from the green section. just dangling down a bit.

green: make it dramatic

blue: similar to red, but smaller and on the other side. tucked behind green.

2. eyes

his eyes are in a parallelogram shape. the slant is similar for both ends.

outer corners extend upwards.

they're not opened very wide.

almost everything is sharp. very little curves.

his pupils are a bit larger than slits.

the inner corners are lowered significantly.

3. clothing

I only did a bust but still

underneath that outer collar is the same dress shirt you see in the sprite below. don't forget about it.

the cravat (???) is crinkled by the outer chain

I was obviously too lazy but remember to draw the pattern of the outer collar

all these accents have a rope-like texture

the chain mainly consists of triangles, but they rotate... I could not be bothered to go through that pain

applying all these tips to my own artstyle

this was arguably the most painful part of the process. I got artstyle envy because of the study, so I had to hide the study 😭😭

got a lazy with the clothes... but I make up for it in coloring. eugh trust the process

zora redesign! design notes under cut:

gave her short hair because the long hair & cape combo doesnt make for a great silhouette imo ⠀

made her colour palette mostly brown because im not a huge fan of her original colour scheme. i get that its supposed to be sunset colours but it just doesnt hit for me. i relegated the yellow and orange to accent colours to make them pop more ⠀

i really loved the veil @krisandthebluesurgeons gave her in their zora redesign, so i gave her a similar one! i think it would be real cool if her face was covered for most of the western arc and then she revealed it for the final battle (her ac portrait also inspired this aspect of my design) ⠀

the design on the brim of her hat is meant to look like a halo of sun rays ⠀

i kept her boots the same (save for the colours) because they're probably my favourite part of the og design ⠀

speaking of things i kept the same, i generally kept her face the same, and also her bodytype. i really love her kind of inverted triangle bodytype so i took care to preserve it ⠀

i changed the sun design on the poncho and moved it to the back. i was gonna have it on the front at first but the design looked too busy like that. of course if this design were to be in the actual show then putting a design on the back would be pointless because none of the characters have sprites where we can see their back. thank goodness this design is NOT in the show! ⠀

i made her outfit under the poncho less.... all over the place. most notably i got rid of the gauntlets because WHAT ARE THOOOOSE and also i gave her regular jean-type pants because horizontal stripes??? seriously??? i always thought her pants looked so fucking goofy 😭

(random thought) now that i think about it... Isn't it suspicious how the story represented that Meleanor and Knight of Dawn has iconic items... Namely: Meleanor's Princess of Glow Staff and Knight of Dawn's Auroral Ring...

Yet in the present, we only see Dawn's ring as it was passed to Silver.. but Meleanor's staff is still missing??? despite the fact it's the main thing that Silver Owls wants to steal from Briar Valley as it can create miracles (like saving the Silver Owl king from his illness)— but that lore drop never got any mention again- 😭 I really wanted to know more about Silver Owls...

in fact I think the history of the human-fae war in Book7 was too summarized-- (Which kinda makes sense since they have to focus more on Malleus' story) so I really feel like they're keeping information about it, perhaps until Levan's reveal???👀

tldr: we have Knight of Dawn's ring in the present BUT WHERE IS MELEANOR'S STAFF???

The defeat of Briar Valley was suspiciously abrupt too-?? Plus, I feel like theres some foreshadow in the future at the fact that the """Silver Owl's Castle""" has been ruined/abandoned by thorns. We know Meleanor filled the castle with thorns to kick Lilia out to save Malleus, but we also see that after Meleanor's death they renovated her castle to claim territory so they definitely cleared out the castle of any thorns or Briar Valley's belongings... yet when it was found by Lilia 400 years later, its covered in thorns again??? (Maybe its bcs its name is "Wild Briar Castle" thats why the thorns grew back and I'm overthinking 💀)

But also its suspicious that Knight of Dawn is ALSO easily defeated... like wdym Dawn got killed amidst the war between neighbouring HUMAN nations... The guy solo killed Meleanor??? He's capable of defeating them, yet he got killed❓❓(I'm actually assuming that Dawn purposely defeat, because he felt way too guilty creating a kingdom on a land that's not his, and also the fact that it's a castle from Meleanor that he has killed, like he concluded that the existence of thr Kingdom of Swords would only result in further turmoil between humans and faes therefore it doesn't need to exist, that's why it was short lived??)

Furthermore, they have Dawn's sprite without the armour but its not shown in any main story segment yet, they always show Dawn with the armour, never without it (yet) WHICH MEANS WE MIGHT RETUEN TO LAND OF BRIAR/SILVER OWLS ONCE AGAIN 😳🙏🙏❓❓just to reveal this sprite someday yk--

This is just a random thought, idk what theory I'll make out of this... but it really felt like Book 7 just gave us a tiny glimpse about TWST's world building/history and I feel like its going to hit me aggressively if they start connecting dots/parallels again for these "little things that they dropped that we missed bcs we're all distracted crying on Malleus' hatching story" 😭😭

Eizan, the runaway rabbit.

(s.n. i wanna redo eizans sprites because i went back to it not too long ago and flipped the canvas.... yeah his face is rlly wonky so i might do that in the future 😭)

Trivia:

- Ais Route

- All clothes were made by him, he is a master of textiles. This is because he had to find a way to be innovative while saving up for a cure.

- Very light on his feet and a fast runner, hence the name runaway rabbit.

- Very strong/fit and can handle himself in a fight

- Has ADHD and gets caught off guard very easily. This is usually his downfall as he needs time to strategize and process something before he utilizes his strength and dexterity.

- Loves humor and making people laugh and smile. He finds self worth in making others happy and makes it his mission to get a laugh out of someone as much as possible.

- Really good perception and understanding of the human mind bc of this.

- Rabbit symbolism

- Likes riding horses because it makes him even faster

- Generally a likeable person and isn't very hateful. He doesn't get mad very often, but when he does, he gets pissed.

- Has really good street smarts and is able to wield any weapon with decent efficiency. His preferred weapon is a dagger or a double-edged claymore.

- The only grudge he holds is against Roseus.

Backstory:

Eizan was very popular in his home village. There was people who side eyed him because of his curse, but it was overshadowed by his bright personality and kindness. He was always a silly kid.

Whenever he was around 9 years old, he was playing tag with the village's children when his hand got caught on a protruding branch and tore his glove, exposing his hands. When he tagged another kid, the curse affected them. The child went mad and ended up stabbing Eizan with a stake. It was nearly fatal but both the child and Eizan survived. The child was subdued and the curse wore off without having to kill them. Eizan was scarred physically and mentally and lost his spark after that. He stayed inside, even if his parents tried to encourage him to go back outside and that the people forgave him. He couldn't do it until his best friend, Roseus (ro-shus), had made a promise to help him find a cure. From that point on, he slowly regained his spark and while recovering, he learned how to make clothing.

It was when they were both 19 that they had made enough money to get themselves to Eridia for a cure. They had packed their things and told their village goodbye. Eizan was a warrior to the village that protected them from fogfall, and he knew this, everyone did. Roseus was his partner in arms and they were leaving the village unguarded. They set up lethal traps and fencing all around the village, but they knew it wouldn't be enough. They knew what would happen to their people.

They wouldn't be able to come back, ever.

Their journey was incredibly long. They survived with very minimal damage to themselves until 2 years into their travels, they split. They were caught off guard by a soulless attack that wasn't prompted by a fogfall. It had injured Eizan's leg and left him immobile without the adrenaline to keep him on his feet. Roseus, driven by fear, prepared to run away.

Eizan yelled for his best friend, "Rose! Help me damnit! Kill the fucking thing!!"

The man in question looked at him, petrified. He shook his head in fear as the soulless turned to him, letting out a screech. Roseus yelped and turned heel, running away.

"ROSEUS!! ROSEUS YOU BASTARD YOU HAVE THE MONEY!! COME BACK!"

The soulless left Eizan as it ran in the direction of Roseus, and all Eizan knew was that he hoped Roseus was killed.

Without the money for the cure and only having pocket change left, he stood on wobbily feet. He winced at the pain in his leg. He took out his medkit and wrapped the injury the same way he would his hands. He swore to whatever god out there, that if he ever saw Roseus again, he'd kill him.

After hobbling for a while, he managed to find a caravan that accepted him onto their journey to Eridia.

Just finished chapter one of project Edens garden and hooolyyy shit

I went in assuming Cassidy would die (albeit I wasn't sold on Toshiko dying first just because of the trailer), and then assuming that Diana or Ingrid were the culprits when the trial began. Eva's framing so good I assumed it was Diana even before the boiler room shenanigans were revealed 💯💯

I was NOT expecting both Wolfgang and Eva to be killed off in CHAPTER 1 what a way to subvert expectations! I went in completely spoiler free too God Bless 🙏 so everything was such a well crafted surprise . Voice acting was SO GOODDD too Kai's screams are hilarious and Eva's breakdown broke meeee.

I was at one point terrified that Kai was gonna die because he had so much screentime (and perhaps the fact I only spent FTEs with him and nobody else made me assume he had more than he did too) 😭🙏 ecstatic to find out that he didn't die and had an alibi through the trial 🙏🙏😭😭😭😭

Art was very beautiful, all the new sprites and the execution were very well drawn (albeit the events of the execution fell a tiny bit flat (as well as the motives. However that might just be me subconsciously comparing it with the anticipation of DRDT's motives that were hidden for so long VS me finishing peg ch1 in two days). Nontheless it was still very good and the biblical allusion in the execution name is a sick detail. I feel like Cara losing limbs in every execution will become a bit similarly to the monokubs dying in every DRV3 execution)

Might I add also that the argument altercation Eva art and the sharper art style was SO PRETTYYYYYYYY I loved the style for that bit even if I struggled like a 6 year old with the minigame lmfao (I blame my shitty almost decade year old laptop 💔)

And I spent every single free time event with Kai, naturally. guess my favourite. let me tell you guys I was ecstatic to find out I was sharing a room with KAI MONTEAGO and also the fact I could've shared a bed with him if it weren't for Wolfgang dying smh....

i mostly remember it for its inclusion of the ninja turtles dressed as princesses (?) and wondered for the longest time what the context was

turns out the entire time it was donnie dreaming that his brothers were dressed as princesses for some reason???

full context is that he was playing a video game, fell asleep while thinking of april for some reason, and then dreamt that he was a protag on a mission to rescue princess april

however, each level (which seems to be taking inspiration from different games) he saves what he thinks is princess april only for it to be one of his brothers instead, and then they send him off to another level to go find her

the reveal of raph with that turn around was so funny i laughed out loud

also, for this level, you can attack by hurling shurikens at the enemies, which were the mousers; the shurikens instantly hone in on whatever enemy is closest to you. big boss was a kraang bot.

mikey's level seems to be mario inspired with himself as peach. interestingly, this is the one level where you can't attack, you can only jump

enemies were pirahanas (with part of their flesh removed?) that would jump out of the water, if you hit one you instantly lost a life. big boss was fishface

this level felt to most "beat 'em up" to me. enemies were foot soldier esque and you had to get close to them and spam the attack button. close combat only. felt fitting for a leo level ig. big boss was shredder (also fitting), and his boss fight was so cool. like, too cool. his sprite looked so good.

the detail on this game is insane😭this is a nick free to play 😭😭

I finished blizzard! More observations:

- I prefer how hitomiko’s arc is written in the game. She has more moments of showing she cares about raimon and genesis whereas in the anime she really just seems willing to use them to win 😭 and out of nowhere raimon are like we’re grateful to you coach :D. She burns her hands trying to open a door to save them and she talks about her brother’s death which was nice to see as the anime never focuses on how it affected her too.

- Omg gazelle and burn were robbed so hard 😭 I thought they didn’t get a lot to do in the anime. Gazelle doesn’t even play Raimon he just kicks a ball at them and aphrodi stops it, and burn isn’t even in it? By the end they just disappear and kira is like meh send genesis out.

- I think I prefer game! fubuki’s resolution of his arc, but the anime had more impact. Ofc this is also a difference of mediums, it’s harder to show a character going thru it via a couple expressions and their sprite shaking, still I think they showed the concept well via a game. I prefer Atsuya actually saying a proper goodbye to fubuki, although the arc feels a tiny bit anticlimactic because nothing dramatic happened (like the anime hospital scene or all the times fubuki broke down on the pitch and felt angsty on the bench)

- It’s interesting how Hijikata wasn’t in it and wasn’t the one hiding Gouenji? I prefer the anime for this part because ofc I believe Gouenji loves his friends and would want to help them, but still wouldn’t risk it if he didn’t have confirmation his sis was 100% safe. The anime defo made Gouenji’s return so cool with the music and everyone was a lot more overjoyed, in the game endou was like smashing ur back, gtg practice byeeee.

- The go go raimon part in the dark emperors game was very cute with pixel sprites because they were all twirling and jumping around. The whole game had a very cute endearing vibe that reminds me of stardew and undertale!

!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!

Let's keep going guys (Part 2):

Papa Shroud had to stop Ortho from going after Idia, because the Ortho in Idia's dream is not what Idia remembers in reality. Papa Shroud tells Ortho to explain to Idia about the dream worldsince he's not aware that he's actually dreaming. But Ortho says he's not worried (which shocks both parents) because Idia would be probably amazed at seeing a humanoid AI (this made me giggle)

So Ortho enters Idia's dream, and Idia sees a video call request which he answers. STOP IDIA GETS OVERWHELMED CUZ HE THOUGHT ORTHO WAS COSPLAYING 😭😭😭. But Idia notices that Ortho calls him "Nii-san" and Ortho tells him that he is in fact the real Ortho (aka the humanoid AI), but Idia is in denial that he's real until Ortho points out for him that he noticed that the world is off.

Ortho tells Idia that he needs him to save the world together. Which causes Idia to go insane cuz a humanoid boy on his computer is asking HIM for help to save the world. When Ortho tells Idia that it's all a dream, the dream itself starts to distort. That's when RSA! Ortho calls and tells Idia that OG! Ortho is a lie, which pretty much causes Idia to go thru a crisis not knowing who to believe

Also guys the sprite for RSA! Ortho is uhhhh

It's giving uncanny valley amped up to 11

Ok going back RSA! Ortho tries to tell Idia that he's simply tired but OG!Ortho tries to snap Idia out of it but then Idia gets dragged into the darkness

And once Idia gets consumed by the darkness, he goes back to the first time we see Idia's dream where it was the opening ceremony with Malleus (so i guess it's kinda looping???). But before Malleus can lead him to the Mirro Chamber a ball of light appears WHICH CAUSES IDIA TO HIDE BEHIND MALLEUS AND SAY THE RANDOMEST SHIT EVER I CAN'T 💀💀💀

TURN OUT THAT WAS CERBERUS ORTHO SAYING THAT HE FOUND IDIA and of course Malleus is not happy and wonders how did someone like Ortho find his way into the dream world. Orthos answers that question by replying that he works just like a ghost, who have the ability to go dimension hopping.

MALLEUS IS SO MAD LMAOOO AND PROCEEDS TO CALL ORTHO AN ANNOYING MECHANICAL DOLL AND THEY START FIGHTING AGAIN AND IDIA IS JUST THERE CONFUSED CUZ A STYX ROBOT AND AN OVERBLOT ARE JUST FIGHTING EACH OTHER TO THE DEATH 😭😭😭

That's when the darkness reappears again because Ortho, the outlier, interfered with the dream. Malleus leaves Idia to get consumed (again) and Ortho desperately holds on to him. But Mama Shroud tells Ortho that he shouldn't try to save Idia, because if he gets consumed, he will be lost in the darkness. So Ortho had no choice but to let go...

Chopping this off again because I believe the next part deserves its own section, and I really need to make that damn paper so stay tuned!

SPOILERS FOR DRDT CHAPTER 2 EPISODE 13

I just wanted to share my thoughts on the episode too since I've seen a lot of people do that

By the way I had to watch this like 7 hours after it was released and I have not scrolled through Tumblr yet so I might bring up stuff that have already been discussed. Also all of these notes were written down while I was watching the episode so yeah

-Levi just moved up so much on my kin list it's insane like omg…

- This was one bad day for Acevi fans, huh. I guess the Xanvid came at a price

-Whit I can now see why David told you to shut up I like you but that was bad 💀 (he was probably left affected by how David reacted in episode 12 and is either really uncomfortable or somewhat intimidated by David now)

-Nah nah nah that's definitely not Teruko's secret so I'm gonna start theorizing now. Teruko might have most of the secrets. It's not like they belong to her, but if you think back to episode 8 she said that she doesn't know which secret is hers because so many things have happened in her life. She probably said that she got the family secret because she thought that was the most likely one. Hu's secret might also be accurate to her considering the fact that, in episode 4, she told Arei that failed suicide attempts are painful, hinting at the fact that she might have tried to kill herself at some point (also backed up by the fact that, in episode 3, she says "why save my life if you're just going to ruin it afterwards?" when talking about her medical debt). The idea that she has most (if not all, but I doubt that) of the secrets might tie in with the killing game secret since it says "How could I even select what secret to be your motive?". The wording here is very ambiguous since it could be interpreted as "secrets about your life" or "secrets that are on the board", like the ones that the other cast members have, the latter being something that I bet that nobody in the fandom thought about until this episode. Anyway theory over back to saying stupid shit

-SHE GOT NEW SPRITES TOO SHE IS SO PRETTY

-I MADE AN AUDIBLE GASP NOISE WHEN THAT CG WITH EDEN SHOWED UP HOLY SHIT!!!! I think she might have hurt or killed the girl she kissed? Unless she killed Arei, which is still a posibility, or Levi lied about his secret for Eden’s sake (idea which could contribute to the "Eden killer Levi accomplice" theory), though Charles would have also needed to lie for Eden since he had her secret. Also, if we're going with Eden remorseless murderer theory, in my opinion, it wouldn't make sense for Eden to be a remorseless killer after what Arei said about her making a mistake "that she couldn't take back" (showing that she probably felt remorse for what she did). Also also this is a good time for me to bring up the note with "Eden's motive" that Charles gave to Teruko. That note could be proof of whether or not Eden really does have the girl kisser secret and I want to mention that the note could be anything since we only have Charles' word to rely on. I really hope we get to see what it says because it's been making me more suspicious of Charles (I personally think that Charles is somewhat suspicious so I might make a post about it soon even though there isn't much proper evidence to say that he has something to do with the killing game, there's still a couple of questionable things about what he's done/said). Okay yap session number two over

-Arei moved up even more on my kin list how is that even possible…. I also love how her voice changed so much in this episode. Even in prior episodes, her voice seemed so cheerful and energetic, yet in this one, it's much calmer. Showing that she truly is feeling relieved that there are other bad people in the world like her and that she might have a chance to redeem herself if so. God damnit Mokaui (Arei's VA) did such a good job with all of her voice lines she needs to be credited more

-THE AREI CG I AM CRYING AREI YOU ARE EVERYTHING TO ME ILYSM I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE BONUS EPISODE AFTER THIS

-They're finally talking about the murder method this is a new evolution for humanity

-Monotv causally breaking the forth wall, now we can blame it on the cast that they were talking about the secrets for an entire year because they didn't watch the Chapter 2 recap

-Ooh so that's what the broken handles meant also that Veronika art is so pretty

-I wonder why they would want to break her neck though, it doesn't seem like it would help with the murder at all, but maybe the killer was trying to cause confusion

-This is proving a theory that I've had for a while. If Arei was hung from the ceiling of the playground, then that could be tied in with the broken lights and the movie screening room above the playground. How would they be able to get her into the playground from the movie screening room though…

-The text animations in the debate are so unique like the question marks with Rose and the one that circles around the top of Levi’s head those look so cool. Also getting to hear a lot of characters talk in a row feels amazing. It gives them a lot of depth showing the contrast between those characters’ tones of voice.

-Everyone just roasting Teruko again is the best thing out of this episode /j

Hey Nightmare! I replayed your game recently and wanted to explain why I chose music in the survey. I love the game on almost all of its sides, and a lot of them just stayed with me. The sprites are so afshsg, Keith's smug expression portrays a lot of the character that I saw in the blog when he gains confidence. His jealous/worried expression frightens me because he looks very unstable. And about Tene, he really looks like the socially awkward /and dangerous/ dork he is. I can see when he's nervous and when he's relaxed. I can read his face and not misunderstand when making choices around him. Their sprites are more than good for me, they're charming. If I have to be picky I'd say maybe the backgrounds could improve. The characters don't mix well with it, but sometimes that's good because contrast;; and also gives you a mysterious, foggy vibe like everything is just a bad dream and you don't know what is going to happen.

I love the writing too, especially the last date! I got the scary vibe (and the fae painting was great!), it gave me chills. The writing stays with me during my daily life, I love the dialogues and I repeat them all through my brain. I like how you show things, imply things instead of just saying them. I like that the MC is smart enough to know what to do in different, unexpected situations. If anything, I think you could make that feel more natural. For example, sometimes you can choose "I'm not scared" after a scene that freaked your character out. Maybe make us choose the option earlier and show during different scenes how the MC is not scared, that way MC's acts match their words. Still, the writing is awesome for me. The romantic scenes just make me all giddy amdjsk, I wouldn't change a thing about that, and the MC's options during them (i like that I have the option to say I'd put a collar on tenebris, and you can also not be into that just bc tene is). But ofc changing the writing and art is up to you! I shouldn't mention this because it's evident but it's your game and more important than making a game that people will enjoy is making a game that you'll enjoy making and you're satisfied with!

My point is (sorry that was long!) the only thing I don't remember after closing the game is the music. I slightly remember Tene's main theme (which I find funny when it starts playing because it's like HELL YES TENE IS HERE TO MAKE TROUBLEEEE BABY) but the rest doesn't really stick with me. This doesn't mean it's bad, it's actually good but I know it could be better, it could add a lot more than it does. There are some moments when the music goes off (like the first date) which I don't think is a good moment to go off because you usually get worried/scared when that happens. Walking home after the date during night should feel more tiring and nostalgic, yet romantic. There should be a way to differentiate a happy charming, magical night with the boys from a calm, nostalgic nightly path. And if there's a way to add more life to a VN, that's music! It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but feel more 'full of life' if you get me.

I hope my review is useful and not bothering agshsgs. This is all me trying hard to find things that could be better. The demo is already so so good as it is! I was surprised to see the survey in the first place when you're already doing great and hard work. If you have to point a gun at me to choose, music is my choice. I think a lot of VNs underestimate it (not that I think you do!). I say this as a person who used to undervalue music, I can draw and write but cannot make music to save my life, I suck at it 😭 but now I wouldn't be satisfied until finding the perfect piece.
