Dear Tumblr --

Hello, my name is Katie.  I am a creator here on Tumblr.  I run a witchcraft blog where I share my spiritual beliefs and host my shop information (where I give readings and such.)  This blog, in particular, has been active for several years, and I have a few others where I run a magazine, or one where I post poetry, or one where I write stories.

I have met some amazing friends here, too, and not just within the realms of spiritual beliefs and practices.  I have friends that are artists; I have friends that are content creators.  These people use Tumblr for their businesses, like me.

In so little words: part of my livelihood depends on the activity involved with my blog.  It is how I pay my bills; it is how I make sure my pets have food.  Without Tumblr, I don’t know where I would be now.

I get that you all don’t want kids exposed to inappropriate content.  They shouldn’t be.  They should be allowed to be kids without disgusting adult human beings creeping on them.  

I get that you don’t want to promote self-harm, including eating disorders and body mutilation.  No one wants other people to hurt themselves.

I get that you don’t want to play host to racists, or bigots, or just your run-of-the-mill trash fire people who find enjoyment in hurting others.  I wouldn’t want to be forced to sit next to a Nazi indefinitely.

But these things have been problems on your website for some time.  And you did nothing.

I know because I have reported them and have NEVER received acknowledgment for my concerns.  Not to be a narc, but I have flagged bots with adult content and I have reported blogs where someone was posting content that was worrisome to me.

I don’t give a crap if an adult working in an adult-related industry wants to use the platform.  There are so many tools that you all could utilize instead of making broad, general swipes at the larger problem.  Tools like:

proper post tagging

age verification

business accounts

actual human beings looking over blogs instead of an automated system that cannot determine context

It’s basically like this:  you’ve made a really shitty mess that you refused to take care of and now you are trying to clean your mess with a dirty towel.  

You aren’t actually fixing the issue.

In doing so, you are forcing the people who aid in the making of your money to turn to other sites.  Why?

Because you refuse to actually get down in the muck and do the work needed to FIX this issue.

And it probably has something to do with money.  That’s usually what things like this boil down to.  

Already, posts of mine are being flagged…and they don’t violate ANY of your community guidelines.  I can’t wait to see the havoc you will really wreak across your platform come the 17th.

This is ridiculous and you know it.

Masterpost Losing My Mind

So, after quite a long time, I’ve finally managed to finish up this fic. It was first supposed to be a quick drabble, but somewhere during third year, I lost control over it and it was almost like it had a life of its own. I could look at the document and a moment later an entire paragraph would appear and I wouldn’t know how that happened, nor did I know what it said… anyway, it turned out to be over 24k and though I know it has a lot of flaws, I’m still quite proud of it. 

This fic is based on a song called Losing My Mind by Daughtry, you can find the link to youtube and spotify in the first part. The fic has gotten 8 chapters/parts, and each part has been dedicated to someone that I think deserve it:

I actually like where this went, and not just because I’m an angst-hungry jerk. What I feel like in the end is that both of them were not ready for the commitment, but while Kat was upfront about her feelings on the matter, Adena definitely wasn’t. That was a little bit shitty of her. I get it, but it was still kinda shitty.

I’m 100% positive they will make their way back to each other at some point, but right now I think they need to develop away from each other.

As for the people upset, this is what you wanted. Proper representation and equality on television, which means you get an equal amount of upsetting plot twists that are extremely commonplace in het ships. It’s upsetting and annoying, but be patient and you’ll get what you want.

We’re just going to have to suffer for it. Maybe a lot.

They gave us clues. We just didn’t listen because Adena’s the “mature” one and Kat cheated.

Kat discovered Adena jumps from relationship to relationship, setting up the next one before the last one ended.

Every time Kat tried to be public with her, she pushed her away

Every time Kat tried to get to know more about her even in private, she resisted or distracted her with sex

When Marcus asked about Adena’s parents, all Kat could say was “she speaks with her mom but i don’t know anything about her dad”…indicating she hadn’t talked to her about anything.

Kat had to nearly beg her to meet a couple of friends

She thought breaking up with Coco over the phone after a 3 year relationship should have been easy

She actively pursued a relationship, while in another relationship, with a woman who up until that point had never considered dating a woman ever.

She didn’t feel inspired until she was away from her girlfriend for a week

She wasn’t bothered by Kat never bringing her ass home.

She started producing once she had space from Kat.

I LOVE what The Bold Type did with Kadena’s storyline tonight. I know some people are disappointed, bc they feel like Adena is compromising herself, but I’m not so sure I agree anymore. I think TBT did a bit too much with her reaction last episode with her seeming so very hurt by Kat kissing another woman. I think they should have had her be less upset about it so that it wouldn’t seem like this development was out the window. However, even before this ep I still thought there was an inch of wiggle room for them to go there, and I’m so glad they did. I think looking back now we are meant to see Adena’s initial reaction as more in response to being betrayed, having Kat do something behind her back that she knew Adena wouldn’t like. I think now that she’s processed that initial lapse in trust, she’s was never really THAT upset by the idea of Kat with other women. Like this ep gave me no indication that Adena is deeply hurt by Kat going out and learning and exploring with other women. I would say possibly jealous at the most, or dissappointed that she can’t provide everything Kat needs, but even that isn’t really clear to me. She was actually able to listen to Kat talk about it and have a sense of humor and support her in her trying new things. I think that is so healthy and good. Yes Adena is doing a lot in the way of supporting Kat through this relationship, and I would never belittle that. But, I don’t think she’s compromising her own well-being in doing so (yet). She knew what she was signing up for with Kat, and I hope Kat is openly appreciative of that at some point, because it’s a lot, but I personally don’t see Adena as being victimized right now? Also, what a dope and respectful portrayal of a poly arrangement that’s not for shock value or laughs. I’m just really happy about it all tbh, but I also understand if other people aren’t.
