Witchcraft Exercise - Spring Cleaning
Tumblr media
There’s a marked tradition of cleaning and airing out the house in the springtime when the weather warms. As you’re dusting and tidying and getting rid of winter stagnation, take some time to do the same with your craft.
Clean and organize your workspace. If you have an altar space or a shelf where you keep bottles and jars and the like, remove everything from the surface and give it a good dusting. Take the opportunity to rearrange things or swap out pieces if it suits you. If you have ritual tools that don’t often get cleaned, check them for signs or rust or wear and give them a bit of love. Repair things that need fixing, if you can. If you have an iron cauldron that you use for fire magic, get a wire brush or some steel wool and gently remove any burnt residue left inside.
Sort through your supplies. If you have lots of candles and crystals and small items laying about, consider getting some small totes or craft organizers to keep things tidy. Divided storage boxes for beads or scrapbooking supplies are great for small items, and shoebox-sized caddies are perfect for taper, chime, and votive candles. Organizing things will make your space easier to navigate and also gives you a proper idea of what you have on hand. Which might help you resist impulse purchases the next time you’re out shopping for witchcraft supplies. While you’re tidying, be sure to discard any rubbish, candle stubs, wax blobs, herb scraps, bits of string, incense bases, and so forth that might be cluttering up the place.
Discard things that are too old or worn to be useful. Dried plants and seasonings can usually be kept for 1-3 years if they remain in sealed containers. If they have no scent anymore or smell musty or mildewy, discard them and sanitize the container. If you’re using supermarket spices, you can use the expiration date on the container as a guide. Powdered material will likely last longer than whole herbs or cut-and-sifted material. One helpful tip is to put a purchase date on packets or bags of herbs when you buy them, or to put a little date sticker on your jars of herbs when you refill them. (Anyone who’s worked in food service will probably be familiar with the concept of container dating or day-dotting.)
If you make oils or tinctures or suchlike in your practice, check on these as well. Make sure nothing has gone off or lost its’ potency. Day-dotting your potion containers will help with this as well. A simple sticker with the name of the brew and the date it was bottled will help you keep track of your supplies and know when something needs to be tossed and replaced. (You can also print labels with the ingredients and purpose of the brew if you’re feeling super organized.)
Reorganize your books and resources. Review what's there and see if there are any materials that need to be weeded out, donated, or discarded. Remember that as you grow and progress, some things will become obsolete or may show themselves to be unhelpful or inaccurate. It's okay to remove things from your resource library that no longer serve you if you want to make some space on the shelves.
You can also cleanse your workspace and/or components while you’re tidying if you wish. It doesn’t have to be a full clean-slate-everything-must-go cleansing, but it can be helpful to just clear out stagnation or bring in some freshness and vitality.
Happy Witching! 🧼

the snow-melted and it's sunny and it's spring and that makes me feel some type of way so here's a kiradax springtime fic featuring the fascinations of a nature-walk and jadzia dax as a sort of ms. frizzle:
On a bright day like this, Kira was happy to be handing out juice boxes.
Sure, she would’ve preferred to have been part of Keiko’s field-trip party, with the older students on a rock-climbing mission to observe cliff-side fungus. But Keiko had been a little too bright-faced and excited as she tucked her climbing shoes into her backpack and gathered all the older kids together for a lesson in knot-tying and rappelling, and, almost immediately, Miles had begged Kira to swap chaperone positions so he could trail after his wife pretending to be worried about the cliffs on which she was leading an educational expedition but really interested in just documenting ‘the moment,’ as he called it.
“When Molly starts to be embarrassed of us,” he said, turning on his camera and smirking as Keiko demonstrated a very long finger-hold on a nearby boulder, the strained muscles in her forearms and shoulders not even appearing to shake. “I want evidence that we’re actually cool.”
“Well, one of you is,” said Kira. “You mostly play games with Julian in your free-time.”
Miles shot her a dirty look but then Keiko was calling her group to start on the hike and he was scampering after her.
So Kira was left with the younger kids on a much less dangerous nature walk that didn’t involve rock-climbing. But she was happy about it. The day was bright, crisp air with warm sun, and she didn’t have to do much more than make sure the little ones stayed on the path and hand out juice boxes. And, really, they were all too mesmerized by Jadzia to misbehave or wonder off.
Kira couldn’t exactly blame them, though. Jadzia had turned up in a shirt covered in colorful scientific illustrations of various Bajoran insects, a giant hair clip that looked like one of the stone-caterpillars that Kira used to make into a stew in her hungriest moments during the war, and a box of tiny, kid-sized binoculars which she handed to each student with all the sincerity and solemnity of a general handing out medals of honor to soldiers. She oo’d an ah’d over every little thing and all the kids were following after her like she was personally responsible for putting a flower in their path to look at.
“Oh, look at that!” gasped Jadzia, pointing up at what looked to be a normal tree limb with such drama that every single kid was gasping with her despite, Kira assumed, not knowing what it is they were gasping at. They gathered around Jadzia, following to where her finger pointed, their little mouths open in awe.
“What?” asked one of the more impatient kids. “I don’t see anything.”
“It’s an aerial succulent,” said Jadzia, bending down. “See, between the stalks, there's a film which will expand and catch on a breeze if the plant needs to move.”
“Like wings?” asked another kid, taking rigorous notes in her notebook (Kira was able to read she had just added plant flying color green pretty in uneven block letters).
“Yes! Exactly like wings!” said Jadzia, as if this comparison had just occurred to her.
“Wow.”
Jadzia had them all draw a picture of the succulent, a star shaped thing with a sparkly veil between each point, tipping this way and that on the tree branch but yet holding steady. Kira attempted a drawing herself, as Jadzia had made sure to provide her with a “field notebook” and binoculars, along with the kids. It was not a good drawing, but Kira liked it. After, they continued shuffling along the path and Kira helped a couple kids not to trip on their feet as they traversed forward, binoculars glued to their eyes.
When Keiko had suggested a field trip, Kira had not expected to be asked to help. But it seemed Sisko was of the opinion that she needed “a break,” or something like that. And so he had volunteered much of his chief staff to help out with the trip to Bajor and even extending the offer of the supervised field trip to some of the schools that would be nearby their educational expedition. As the morning progressed, Kira couldn’t help but be thankful for it. There were worse ways to spend a day. And Jadzia had been very happy when Kira had turned up, which always made Kira feel warm in more ways than one. She might've switched assignments, anyway, if Miles hadn't asked.
Eventually they ended up by a stream and Jadzia instructed everyone to be on the lookout for fossils.
“I know there are fossils,” she whispered triumphantly to Kira, once the kids were darting back and forth on the bank like the intrepid explorers they were. “I scouted the trail—this watershed area is almost nothing but limestone.”
Kira bent down to examine the earth herself, picking up an angular yet smooth-cornered rock and rolling it around in her palm.
“Limestone has more fossils in it?” she asked.
Jadzia plopped down next to her. “Yep,” she said. She reached over and gently guided Kira’s fingers to hold the rock so the angle was pointed up. Then she poured a splash of water on it, smoothed away some dirt, and pointed to an imprint in the stone. “See?” she said. “A shell.”
“Oh,” said Kira, looking closer at the strangely patterned whirl. It looked like the aerial succulent.
“Limestone is a graveyard, for organic life,” said Jadzia, halfway to soft but still cheerful. “It’s got a bit of a sacred history on Trill, but I never bought into all those sad poems. Trills only seem to know how to write sad poems”—she rolled her eyes, and Kira bit the inside of her cheek to contain her grin—“and I just don’t think fossils are things to be sad about anyway. True, this”—she indicated the rock in Kira’s hand by cupping Kira’s knuckles and pushing gently against them, causing Kira to, embarrassingly, blush—“is made of the compressed bodies of ancient marine life, but it’s not as if they’re gone. There they are.”
Kira turned her gaze away from Jadzia’s open face and back to the dirty rock in her palm. She didn’t like to think of it as a graveyard. Death was a strange, conceptual thing for Bajorans—as all things are and have been and will be all at once, so eternal ending is just one edge of infinite reality, which has many edges stretching on and on.
“It’s just evidence that they were,” she found herself saying. “But they also are. Just—are.”
Jadzia tipped her head, her eyebrows pinched together. “This might be one of those temporal perspectives I don’t get,” she said.
Kira smiled. “I mean,” she said. “In some way, this…shell?”
“Crinoid.”
“This crinoid,” said Kira, still biting back a grin. “Is swimming around now. In the sea.”
Jadzia looked at her, eyes sparkling. “Okay,” she said. “Then limestone isn’t a graveyard at all.” She picked the rock up out of Kira’s hand and placed back on the ground but replaced its weight with her own palm. “Everything just adds and adds, in every direction.”
Kira’s smile couldn’t be stopped. She curled her fingers around Jadzia’s wrist. “Yes,” she said, leaning in close, tracing the line of sun lighting up the dark hollows on Jadzia’s face and the soft hairs on her jaw.
Jadzia tilted her chin down, their noses now millimeters apart. The sound of the stream and the sound of her breath on Kira’s mouth washed over her. “Nerys—” she said, voice sweet.
Then, “Da-ax!”
They leaned away from each other quickly.
“Yeah?” called back Jadzia, wiping her twitchy hands on her shorts.
“I fell in!” said one of the kids while all the others laughed.
Kira snorted. Jadzia pressed her palm against Kira’s once more before launching to her feet.
“Duty calls,” she said, dramatically. “Remember me fondly.”
She walked off, already lecturing all the kids about the joys of an impromptu swim and the subsequent chance to dry off in the sun, and soon Kira was being bombarded by tired students in search of snacks.
She slipped the rock in her backpack, when no one was looking. An eternal touch of a swimming creature and the warmth of Jadzia's hand--everything just added on. It was a bright day.

hihi I'd like a match with NCT dream ! (And if possible one with enha too but if not that's totally cool :p )
Physically I'm kinda like petite almost (?) I'm 5'2/5'3 and Im not very curvy. I'm a more reserved person, and I don't love easily (honestly I don't think I love anyone except my dad). I'm generally a very productive person, I like getting in like 4ish hours of academic work done after school everyday ! Im not the most organized person but I get overwhelmed easily. I'm not much of an empath, I don't struggle to understand to people but I suck at comforting, my comfort is more "fix-it"/solution oriented. I'm really strict about my values and morals, I drop people very fast if they lack a moral compass. I'm also really artsy, though I'm not really good at dancing or music (I kinda am at painting), but I still love learning about it. A lot of my friends say I'm "well read" but I think I just know a lot about niche topics since I like learning. I'm a huge history, biology and english nerd :D. I like to think I'm hilarious but that might just be my friends and I LOL. I'm a Taurus and Aries cusp ! I was born on 20th April so do as you will with that. My ideal type is someone who's taller than me, gives PRINCESS TREATMENT, has similar/the same values as me, wears glasses and is a nerd overall 😭. My favourite troupe is academic rivals and unrequited love (I love love love angst). My favourite season is definitely spring, animals come out of hibernating, I can go swimming again but the weathers a little chilly sometimes (enough for my boyfriend to give me his jacket *GUNSHOTS*-). My hobbies include bullet journalling, scrolling through wikipedia and reading ! (I prefer slice of life kinda romance books or any apocalypse type book). Oh and I love cats, I'm gonna be a cat mom to 4 as a retired 80 year old.
Ok that was really long I kinda started typing and I couldn't stop lol, I ramble a lot (maybe my boyfriend could shut me up with a kiss *GUNSHOTS-). I'm not sure if I included enough to help you get an idea of who I am as a person but I hope I did :3
FINDING YOUR MATCH...
MATCH FOUND! your match is... HUANG RENJUN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
RENJUN's love for art and intellectual discussions would complement your interests in history, biology, and english. he’s well-read and curious about the world, which would give you both endless topics to talk about. you both love diving into niche topics or swapping cool facts you learned from the internet(wikipedia-)
RENJUN's artistic and creative side would resonate with your own. he might not be a professional painter, but he’d happily paint with you or explore galleries, sharing insights and jokes.
RENJUN would take you on springtime walks, pointing out blooming flowers and finding quiet spots where the two of you can sit and talk. if you’re cold, he’d immediately offer his jacket, smiling softly as he drapes it over your shoulders.
RENJUN spend hours talking about books, life, and the world, with a cat or two wandering nearby because he knows how much you love them.
RENJUN would playfully smear a bit of paint on your nose if he's feeling mischevious, laughing at your shocked reaction before offering to clean it off.

I have a small garden. This is a relatively recent development, and it has been occupying a lot of my thoughts.
Writing about those thoughts here seems like as good an outlet as any.
The garden is looking particularly bad at the moment. Rather than speculating about what I want it to be like, I’m going to write about some things that have already happened and which I am happy about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These pruned plants - a blackcurrant bush and a rose! I had never pruned anything before (I had never had anything that needed pruning before) and I felt paralysed by my own incompetence at first. I’m very glad to have given it a go. Either I've done it right, or I will have learned something about how not to prune.
Speaking of being paralysed by incompetence, these fenceposts! I knew I wanted to put up some kind of plant support/trellis along the back of this bed, but the task felt utterly insurmountable a few months ago. I had no idea how to go about it, so I did what I always do in such situations and asked my mum for advice. Cue posts, post-spikes, a mallet, and an improvised drive-in tool… I still need to string wires between them, but soon I’ll have a structure to train plants up.
This heap of twigs! These are the prunings from the blackcurrant and rose plants mentioned in the first point. There was not enough space in the compost bin for them at the time, so I’ve left them in a pile over winter. I hope it is a nice home for some appreciative bugs.
The compost! How do I love my compost bin? Let me count the ways. This pile of decomposing matter brings me indescribable joy. Since we started composting cardboard and food scraps we have so little waste to go into the dustbin. The compost is full of worms and all sorts of other life. I like to check on it in the mornings before I go to work.
The pond! I dug this a few months ago, and at the time I remember feeling like it was the first honest day’s work of my life. I got some water plants for free from a local facebook plant swap group. The eventual aim of this pond is to attract frogs to help deal with the slug population - I’m playing the long game. Of course, it will take some time for the ecosystem to stabilise - but already there is life! I was delighted to discover water hog-lice a few weeks ago. It’s a Christmas miracle!
This no-dig lasagna gardening bed! Every online resource said that this kind of bed is better if left for several months before being planted up. I planted mine immediately and the results were not amazing - so I’ve learned something, and this coming year it should be better.
Tulips! I mentally calculated and purchased what I felt was an appropriate amount of tulips for the space. A week later, a visiting friend brought the same quantity of tulip bulbs again as a housewarming gift. Finding somewhere for them all to go was a challenge, but my friend and I managed it together. I’ve now mostly forgotten where we planted them, which will be a fun springtime surprise.
There is so much I want to do with this space and so much I’ve tried which has already failed. I don’t really know much about gardening yet, but in 10 years time maybe I will have figured it out ;) Three cheers for my shabby January garden!

setting: blank slate, monday featuring: julian chandler & open
Twirling a double ended alcohol marker in his hand like it was a butterfly knife, Julian approached the large paper pad set on his easel, already set on a blank page, and settled into the stool before it. Angled perfectly so he had the sketch pad facing him while still being able to see his subject in perfect view, he offered a friendly dimpled grin at the customer seated across from him. “Just relax and get as comfortable as you can,” he said in a soft voice, pulling the cap off the chiseled nib of the marker and preparing to get to work on the piece. He loved drawing caricatures and jumped at the chance to be one of the artists contributing to the event when they mentioned it at work. It was one of the things he did back at school while ignoring lessons or after finishing a test to pass the time. Something to keep the artist in him alive when he swapped paint brushes for lacrosse sticks. “So, why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself,” he said after a moment of silence passed, when he was sure the other was well situated in their seat. “What is your favorite springtime memory?” He liked engaging his subjects in conversation while drawing them. Talking eased the awkwardness of him staring at them intently while working, but he also loved taking the opportunity to get to know the person a little. Their personality often came out when they talked about themselves or memories, and that often helped aid in the work. So Julian listened intently to the other, bringing the marker tip down onto the page and beginning his work.

TWISTOBER DAY 22 - ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
I love AUs and this one is a role-swap between Malleus and Yuu! I wanted to do something with the fairies in Twisted Wonderland so in this AU Yuu is a fey but they’re closer to the Tinkerbell movies instead of Briar Valley.
More under the cut!
In this AU Yuu’s powers are based around mimicking that of a dragon over actual dragon powers. Their wings look like a dragon’s maw and their fire is hot enough to pass as dragon fire without doing as much damage.
For this AU Yuu is the next Queen Clarion/ Lord Milori figure. They have a somewhat intimidating reputation as one of the next leaders of the fae and being the person who will bring springtime/winter to the mainland. Due to this Yuu goes Night Raven College in order to experience more of the world around them before they have to accept their duties and remain stuck in Pixie Hollow.
However at NRC Yuu is somewhat ostracized because of their position. They’re kind but most people are hesitant to interact with them because of the whole “future person who controls the seasons” thing. They want to make a genuine friend on the mainland and have a few, but maybe that transfer student from another universe can help them make more!
Within this AU Malleus is the Ramshackle Prefect and an ex-deeply isolated rich kid. Within his universe he was the heir to a powerful company and rich family and is taking his unplanned vacation for all its worth. He gets to interact with people who have no idea about his past and explore some really interesting architecture! Of course another benefit is the mysterious person who he meets along his nightly walks!
For the art the flowers around Yuu are begonias and cyclamens. Begonias mean beware and reference their fake predator nature and cyclamens are resignation. The cyclamens acknowledge the fact that Yuu may never see Twisted Wonderland again once they take up their position or will outlive some of their friends.
On a lighter note for the rest of this roleswap the rest of the first years are fairies!
Tumblr media
For the purposes of this AU the first years are all human-sized because why not. Jack is a garden fairy who has animal ears because he was born from the laugh of a beastman child and stays fighting the Animal Fairy allegations. They’ve all come along with Yuu to learn more about the mainland and help protect their future leader.
I’m still debating whether or not Grim and Lilia switch places but if they do I imagine that Lilia was trying to sneak Silver into the school and got caught. Sebek was caught helping them and all three of them get sent to Ramshackle Dorm with Malleus. Malleus and Sebek share a student ticket and Lilia and Silver share a student ticket.

a springtime ffxiv swap gift for @floweramongstthecold featuring her OCs Hachiko and Ilar!
Spring was in full bloom in Gridania, and Hachiko had rarely seen anything so lovely. It was to her great disappointment that for the moment, she was stuck inside.
Menphina’s temple was just coming out of its busiest season, and it was past due for a bit of spring cleaning. She and the other priestesses had been hard at work all morning, clearing away old offerings, taking inventory of the temple’s supplies, and giving the place a good floor-to-ceiling scrub. Every so often, one of them would be called away to attend to a visitor coming to seek advice or pay their respects, and Hachiko felt a twinge of envy each time. Even if it was in service of making the temple brighter and tidier after the flood of devotees they’d welcomed over the past few moons, cleaning was exhausting work. She much preferred her spiritual duties.
Hachiko sighed, settling stiffly back on her heels as she sat up, dropping the cloth she’d been using to scrub at several stubborn scuffs marring the surface of one of the temple’s small, low altars back into the bucket at her side. She took a moment to stretch, the heels of her hands digging into her sore back. Her gaze turned wistfully to the open window, sunshine sparkling and a soft breeze ruffling her hair away from her face. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath and drinking it in. She opened them again as she heard footsteps approaching from the corridor just outside the room.
Another priestess with a broom under one arm and a bucket in each hand did a double take as she walked by the open doorway and spotted her. “Hachi, there you are. We’ve got a visitor here asking for you. They’re waiting out in the garden.”
Hachiko sighed in relief. “Miracles do exist.” She heard the other priestess laugh as she continued down the hall.
Sore as she was, she hauled herself to her feet with renewed vigor. She could practically feel the sun on her skin already as she stowed away her cleaning supplies and took a brief moment to make herself presentable before she stepped outside.
The temple’s garden was an oasis, green and lush with oldroses blooming brightly in the sunshine, the moon daisies in plots along the garden wall awaiting the evening to properly open up. Thick, verdant branches swayed slightly in the breeze, providing the perfect amount of shade.
“Terribly sorry for any delay, as I’m sure you can tell we’re in the middle of tidying—” She stopped in the doorway as she saw the familiar visitor waiting for her on a bench at the edge of the garden. “Ilar! You didn’t tell me you were coming. What brings you to the temple today?”
Ilar grinned. “Well, you see, I’m in dire need of counsel. I’ve was hoping to give a certain priestess the opportunity to enjoy a lovely day, and I thought that showing up to give her a break from spring cleaning might be a good start. What do you say?”
Hachiko flushed, bringing her hand up to hide a grin. “I’d say that sounds wonderful.” She sank down onto the bench next to Ilar with a small sigh.
“What’s the damage so far?” he asked sympathetically.
“A lot of mopping. No one’s really had time to tend to the floors lately. Altars needing to be properly cleaned. The kitchen’s low on almost everything, so planning out a shopping trip and getting into talks with the botanists’ guild will be next,” she listed off. “The usual sort of thing.”
“Sounds like it’s already been a long day.”
“It’s not so bad when we’re not doing it all at once like this. We just have so little time once the First Umbral Moon comes around, regular cleaning just tends to fall by the wayside.” She closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the garden wall. “And then we’re rewarded with a very exhausting few days.”
Ilar took her hand, gently pulling her to her feet. She couldn’t suppress a slight hiss as the motion pulled at sore muscles. Ilar tutted in response as he led them into the shade. “Now, we can’t have that. At least take a moment to rest before you’re needed back in the temple.” With that, he flopped down onto his back in the shade of the tree, smiling up at her and extending a hand out in invitation.
She certainly wasn’t about to argue. Sinking to the grass far more gingerly, she stretched out on her stomach, pillowing her head on her arms as best she could while minding her horns as she peered over at Ilar. He’d turned over to face her, head propped up on one arm and still smiling. Her eyes drifted shut as a gentle hand ran down her back, his thumb massaging small, soothing circles into her sore muscles with just the right amount of pressure. She hummed appreciatively as more tension left her body, melting further into the grass.
She had no idea how long they lay there, half dozing by the time she heard the garden door open and the high priestess’s voice calling out. “Ah, Hachi. You’ve been out here a while, and I’d come to see if you needed any assistance, but…” Her smile turned wry as Hachiko sat up guiltily where she’d been spread out in the grass.
“Priestess Johfi, I—”
“Now, now, no need for that,” Johfi cut her off before she could apologize. “It truly is a lovely day. It would be a shame to miss it all. I’m sure the others wouldn’t mind a bit of an early out either. The temple will still be there to clean tomorrow, after all.”
“I…if you’re sure.”
“Go have your fun. I’ll let the other girls know they’re free to spend the day as they wish.” She headed back into the temple, the garden door clicking shut behind her.
“Well then,” Ilar said, getting to his feet with renewed enthusiasm. “Seems you’ve been cleared to enjoy the rest of your day. Shall we?” He extended a hand to help her to her feet once more, the sunlight behind him haloing him in a golden glow.
Hachiko grinned and took his hand.

Week 2 farm box!
Tumblr media
This week I got collard greens, asparagus, green garlic, red scallions, lettuce, 2 big sweet potatoes, some carrots, and dandelion greens! The cheese is every second week, so this was an off week for that.
The carrots were from the swap box; I got rhubarb again, but I still have like half of last week's rhubarb crisp to eat, so when I saw the carrots, I decided to give that up.
(The swap box is a box at the pickup site that you can look through and see if you want to trade something in your box. The farmshare I did last year, when it was a single farm, he had a website where you could swap things out, but this one is a huge co-op with over a hundred farms and at least that many different locations where you can pick up your box, so I guess it would not be manageable to customize people's boxes.
My plans for this week are:
Salad, using the lettuce and carrots, and the rest of the radishes and beets from last week
Shrimp and grits, loosely based on this recipe, which will use the collards, garlic, and scallions
A rice-and-vegetables-and-an-egg-on-top bowl, loosely based on one I got from Everyplate, using the sweet potatoes and dandelion greens, and a the rest of the garlic and scallions (along with some good eggs I bought by the side of the road while I was on my cabin trip last week).
The asparagus could go in the shrimp and grits or the rice bowls, but I might just steam it and eat it with lashings of butter and salt; I don't know.
Also, somebody at work who has a big garden brought in some extra seeds that she was trying to get rid of, so I took a few, scrounged up some containers, and found some potting soil at Lowes that they'd give me for half price because the bag was damaged. Behold, my garden:
Tumblr media
The terra-cotta pot on the left is mesclun lettuce, the big red one is buttercrunch lettuce, and the bin is carrots. The two little ones on the end are basil. Don't know if any of it will amount to anything, but it satisfied my usual springtime urge to Plant Something, and only cost $6.

if you could swap places with anyone in the real world who would it be and why? and what about in fiction 👀
I’d swap places with whoever is standing next to elon musk RIGHT NOW so I had time to deck him in the face before anyone could stop me 🤣
and hmmm in fiction i’d swap with tanaka from this slice of life anime called tanaka-kun is always listless bc he’s just living the laziest most sedate life you could imagine and I too would love to ignore my responsibilities and nap beneath a tree in the springtime

Clock Mechanism Replacement
A Substitute Clock Mechanism Simplifies Repair
Tumblr media
A substitute clock mechanism is made use of to restore a timepiece that is no more functional. The replacement clock mechanism is mosting likely to be a digital electric motor (or motion), whereas the initial one could be electronic or mechanical. The job might be as simple as getting rid of the non-functional component or components and plugging in the brand-new, or as facility as a complete repair of an antique heirloom.
The replacement clock mechanism, in other words, might involve greater than a one-for-one swap of activities. There may be ancillary parts that also obtain replaced or restored, such as the dial, any or all of the hands, a pendulum and/or its drive. One might need to take care of a difference between old and new fitting criteria, making a straight retrofit problematic.
Let's delve a little much deeper right into what can be involved in reanimating a mechanical clock that may have seen better days. This could be a grandpa clock, a mantle clock, a wall clock, probably a cuckoo clock, each with its very own foibles. Maybe some components work and some do not, or you can not truly tell what you remain in for until you begin poking within.
Mechanical clocks carry weight or springtimes to supply torque, a flywheel, a network of equipments, and normally a pendulum incorporated with an escapement to control the timing. If you are intending to recover the piece, you'll need to assess the condition of all these (inner workings) components. You maintain those parts that are operable, and either fixing or replace the ones that aren't.
These older wrist watches are apt to be intricate and complex; if you do not recognize what you're doing, you might inadvertently make things even worse rather than better. But with the right collection of tools, you ought to have the ability to determine pretty swiftly what you are up against. We recommend taking photos as you go and range the dismantle in the order in which they were removed to assist you get things back as you located them.
If after this stage full reconstruction appears to still be a possibility, turn your attention to the external, available components, such as the hands, dials, and accessories. You might locate some show wear or are bent, and so on. It may be worth burnishing several of these, such as a fancy dial, however it is additionally fairly uncomplicated just to change the component.
In a manner, this last concern is what everything come down to every action of the means: replace it or recover it? If the innards become permanent, the question is answered for you-- retrofit a new electronic motion right into the original situation (or abandon the reconstruction job altogether). Even if this proves needed, the motion itself is hidden, and the trick is then to discover parts that both comply with the motor's standards/tolerances and duplicate the antique look as closely as possible.
The digital motor obtains its power from a shaking quartz crystal, anticipating the requirement for a pendulum. If you still want an oscillating pendulum anyhow, just for appearances, you can either attempt to make the original component deal with the brand-new motor or merely use a replacement pendulum. However, the weight of the old pendulum could strain the electric motor, especially if it is fairly long.
Some contemporary activities featured oscillating attachments for hanging cosmetic pendulums, and if the part is light enough this arrangement is a great method to go. However otherwise, there is an alternative readily available, which is to mount a different clock pendulum drive. This is powered off its own battery, and it runs separately of the new movement. clock parts
The outer parts are the most convenient to replace, and the option of styles is wide sufficient that you should have no trouble matching the appearance you want. Recovering wrist watches right into correct functioning condition can be a really satisfying task. You might discover that a substitute clock mechanism enhances the remediation.
