IDK why I ended up putting so much effort into the rendering this was just supposed to be a shitpost.

Hobie's pose is heavily referenced from a shot from the movie Nope (2022). The background texture is also from the same frame.

Miguel is cast as the stressed-out, half-Latino, tech guy with an angel name who watches camera feeds all day and bitches about his life to people he just met.

no but really let’s talk about the dynamic between the older gen spideys vs young gen spideys for a moment, because it’s really got me fucked up.

miguel and all the older gen spideys seem so entirely accepting of all these “canon compliant” rules, because those rules absolutely validate the trauma that every one of them has gone through. the idea of “oh our pain had a reason, oh our heartbreak was for something after all” is a VERY powerful notion that—understandably—they welcome with open arms because they have already lived it.

but the younger gen spideys…. yes, most of them have bought into miguel’s logic for most of the movie, because of course you’re going to listen to the 1,000,000 adults all telling you the same thing when you’re fucking fifteen and desperate for any semblance of mentorship. and it sure does make a lot more sense when you yourself have also experienced a similar trauma to all the others.

but that’s exactly it, isn’t it? they’ve all experienced the same trauma—

that miles and pav have not.

so, no. actually, fuck your rules. and really, fuck your demands that i must suffer what you suffered just because you cannot accept me without it. and good on miles for saying it—good for all of the spideys who realized he was right—realized he was asking all the right questions instead of drawing all the wrong conclusions.

(yet. for all my anger i feel towards the older gen for pressuring him in that way….i also understand why they cling so desperately to these stupid “canon” rules. because, if miles can manage to resist it—if he or gwen or pav can escape what they never could—then suddenly, they have to ask the question of:

“what didn’t i do right?”

and

“was all that pain really for nothing?”

and accepting your life after having to ask those questions instantly becomes much more difficult.)

THE CHROME SPIDER - (SPIDERVERSE DR #1 INTRO)

okay, let’s do this one last time.

hi, my name’s venoria kingston, and i’m earth-404’s friendly neighborhood spider-woman (that everyone kind of has beef with for some reason?). my official name is the chrome spider…i just happen to be a woman and a ‘spider’, so people think that other name is easier.

not as cool, but whatever…

let’s get one thing straight: i was not bitten by a real spider. i made my own spider. originally, it was meant to be a drone-type mechanism for a science project, but there was a malfunction and the spider “bit” me. the fluids i used to power the machine fused with my blood, and instead of poisoning me or hurting me, i became the chrome spider.

still don’t understand the scientific basis of that, but…hopefully miguel will figure it out!

shortly after that event, the whole debacle with kingpin happened. i got transported into miles’ earth, and let me tell you, it was a learning curve. people were using devices i read about in textbooks — they were like ancient relics to me. my earth is set in the far future, the future with flying cars and androids that could be your philosophy teacher or your math tutor. so imagine my surprise when i saw cars, with rubber wheels, on the ground.

i’m getting distracted. anyways, during my time wandering through new york without a clue as to why i’m there, i met miles, noir, gwen, and peter, who are still my friends to this day. after everything was resolved, i went back to my earth, earth-404.

while the multiverse crossover was happening, my sister, yvonne, went missing. i’m still looking for her to this day, and i’m determined to find her. that’s why i went to miguel for help. he has the tech to jump from universe to universe, and i have a goal i am hellbent on completing. now i’m part of the spider society, simultaneously doing grunt work for miguel and narrowing down where my sister is.

surely nothing else can go wrong. right?

ABILITY OVERVIEW

chromium (chrome metal) manipulation… i can materialize liquid chrome from my fingertips and basically create whatever i want out of it. i use this mainly to create body armor, weapons, shields, and restraints.

electricity overload… due to my spider suit, i have electrical abilities that are enhanced with my chrome. i can overload certain signals or machines with direct contact.

coding efficiency…

hacking efficiency…

web slinging… i have artificial webs that are kept in my wrist gauntlets. these webs can also be hardened by my chrome to secure their durability and resistance, though once they are coated, they cannot move from their initial position.

jet boots… on the bottom of the boots of my suit, i have small jet boosters that can enhance my attacks and fly me up into the air, enhancing my web slinging as well.

chrome-coated motorcycle… i just have a cool tron-like motorcycle with extra armor on. cause i can!

You know what is really fun stuff and I can't wait to see? When Miles and Gwen have to talk and he finds out everthing. That Gwen ran away from home and joined society because she had nowhere else to go and that her canonical event is to die, not just because she loves Spider-Man, but just to die. Whether she's a hero or not, because she's a Gwen Stacy and they always die. Especially since Miles has no idea about any of these things in the first place.

And of course, when I say fun I mean incredibly painful and traumatic 😃

you had been in the bathroom for a while , miles was concerned so he called your name from the living room , not getting a response so he swiftly went upstairs to see where his girlfriend was.

"ma?" he wondered around the house , looking for you but not seeing any slight , a hint of confusion tinting his face. "mamii where you at stop hidin" he walked past the bathroom door , taking a double take at it after seeing light coming from the bottom of the door.

miles slowly opened the door , seeing the sight of you taking out your last braid, sighing in relief , frustration , and stress all at once. the rest of your hair was out in a fro to the side , you had so much hair you could barely see through it. miles stared in awe , slightly closing the door back so you wouldn't notice him staring at you.

he noticed the airpods in your ears , which is most likely why you didn't respond to him. miles has never seen you natural hair , so this was a beautiful sight to him. he couldn't help but admire you , there was never a time where miles couldn't keep his eyes off you.

you were finally done with the last braid , sighing deeply while smiling , shaking your fro in happiness that you were finally done. miles grinned , walking slightly into the bathroom some more , leaning against the door waiting for you to turn around.

you picked up the plastic bag which held your hair that had came out due to your hair texture , and the old braided hair.

you turned around , and jumped a little due to the sight of miles. "how long have you been here.." you said , taking an airpod out.

"a good 20 seconds..ig" he lied , knowing he'd been admiring you for quite a while now.

he walked over to you , smiling and putting his arms around your waist looking at you. "your're so clingy somedays" you sighed while laughing , placing the bag down and kissing miles , causing him to bring his hand to your hip , the other one moving up your waist. as he pulled away , he looked at you once again , you hair , face , features , everything.

MY RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS - (MULTIPLE DRS)

hello everyone!

since it’s valentine’s day, i’ve decided to finally commit to a post idea that’s been sitting in my drafts for-fucking-ever. i’m going to talk about my relationships in my drs and small things about them <33

HOGWARTS UNI DR: MATTHEO RIDDLE

dynamic: enemies to lovers (ofc) / brother’s best friend

honestly, the only reason i’m shifting for mattheo in particular is because i like his archetype, and from what i’ve seen about him, he intrigues me. i feel the same way in my dr, though the subtle fascination is paired with a rampant irritation i feel every time i look at him. we keep the insults to a minimum since my brother blaise is close with him, but in the rare moments we’re alone, we don’t hold back. there’s a deeper level of respect that prevents us from going too far, but ultimately, it’s the typical enemies-to-lovers pipeline. i’m excited for this one because it also has an academic rivals aspect to it.

FAME DR: SABRINA CARPENTER

dynamic: friends to lovers / friends with benefits / secret dating

ah, sabrina…the loml here and in my dr! i adore her and this was just a sudden realization i had when i was listening to her music. in this dr, me and her were both on disney channel around the same time, so we knew of each other’s existence. however, we don’t really become friends until 2023 (the year i’m shifting to). then, yk, its the classic “will they, won’t they” situation until we start dating. no angst here (hopefully). sigh, i love her.

SPIDERVERSE DR: PETER PARKER

MY MAN!!! the man i’ve been wanting since i first watched into the spiderverse. love him, love his concept, and i really like his voice. and his face. so i’m dating him. as some of you know, in my spiderverse dr, i’m from the future, so it’s the opposites attract trope. i’m looking forward to the interactions we’ll have. also, we’ll meet through the whole kingpin situation. eek i love him.

BAKERY DR: MYSTERY MAN #1

dynamic: soulmates / nonbeliever & hopeless romantic (me 😞)

last but not least, the man with no name. or face. literally just gave him a voiceclaim and said he was a rich ceo. he is extremely handsome though! he also appears in my dreams. we’re soulmates, and in my dr your soulmate appears in all your dreams. could be a main character, could be a background extra. doesn’t matter. i’m hella invested in this whole soulmate thing, so imagine my surprise when dreamy man from my dreams shows up at my bakery late at night. HE DOESNT EVEN BELIEVE IN SOULMATES!!! so i have to convince him somehow. i’ll pull him in with my croissants and coffee, for sure.

I was checking how long would Gwen stay in prison based on her case, if she got arrested, and it would be minimum 15-25 years (correct me if I'm wrong I learned this from Wikipedia).

But that's not the worst thing about this. Prison would be horrible for a 15-year-old girl but at least she has super strength so she can protect herself but God knows what sorts of shit she would go through in there. No one would treat her better, police already hates her, they would try to make her life as miserable as they can.

But I'm thinking about her life after prison if she survives there and if she doesn't take her own life after being betrayed by her own parent, but it's the outside world that scares me. Everyone would know she is/was Spider-Woman and everyone would know that she killed Peter and the worst part is that everyone already thinks she did that on purpose and that she wanted to do it. If she gets out she'd be a totally different person and no one would care about her. Where would she go? What would she do? She couldn't go to school, she spent most of her life in prison, her canon event is the death of her father and he would be long gone by the time she's out even if he still cared about her. Even if he changed his mind after putting her in prison she's still in there, everyone knows what she did and everyone hates her including Ben and May, and George can't just get her out of there and he's gonna die anyway, so she's on her own. She can't even be Spider-Woman again anywhere, everyone in the world knows who she is and I don't think she would want to be a hero again. Even if she could get a job who the hell would hire her?

So what would happen to her? Would this be her villain origin story? She'd be a thirty something or 40-year-old woman when she gets out and she has nothing.

So, even if it was a bad choice to join Spider Society it was 100% the best choice she had at the moment. Nothing can compare to what was about to happen to her if she stayed in her dimension. She couldn't run forever and she had nowhere to run either. The only way out of that was to go to another universe and live there. Thank heavens that she even had this choice.
