The Newsreader Turns Three Years Old! 💖

In the morning, it will have been three years since The Newsreader first aired on the ABC, on the 15th August 2021!

Since that day in 2021, we all found this show at various points along the way, and we have created this beautiful community around it across many platforms. As much as this is a day of celebrating what the cast and crew have put together, it is a day for us too, because we’ve kept The Newsreader’s online conversation going even when the media have stopped covering it. We’ve made it the cult hit it has become.

For me personally, I’ll forever be grateful to this show for coming into my life at the moment it did. From rescuing my sense of boredom during lockdown, to helping me grow into the person I’m meant to become, and for giving me creative opportunities that I could have never dreamed of, the past three years have been an incredible creative ride. The 15th August will always be a special day to me, to celebrate the piece of media that has changed my creative life. I am so grateful for the creative spirits behind it, the people in the fan community surrounding it, for nurturing my brain and helping me find my creative voice. It has meant so much joining the News At Six family.

I thank everyone who has contributed to this digital birthday presentation, for their words which demonstrates how much this show means to its viewers. I was in awe of everyone’s words and thoughts about what makes The Newsreader special to them. I’m proud of us all, and thrilled that we found a show which we feel at home in, especially those of us who feel different. There is a place for us after all, where we can feel loved just the way we are.

It breaks my heart how some people don't know how much information they are missing out on in the games.

Did you know Gaz specializes in interrogation, not Ghost or Price, Gaz.

Did you know the first mission of the original first game is cannon to Soap? Did you know that not only did he lock a mp in the trunk of a car. Which we all know, but also that while on patrol when they were attacked and the machine gun malfunctioned. So Soap stripped the weapon and reassembled it before firing 150 single shots, re-cocking the gun for every round. And claimed Any and all of his comrades would have done the same thing?

Did you know All Gillied up is still canon and MacMillan still owes Price a favor presumably? Did you know MacMillan was still cannon? That also means Imran Zakhaev is still alive?

There are so many things people just don't know and it breaks my heart because these are some of my favorite fun facts.

Mayans crushing on/ being infatuated with a younger reader

This is my first time writing for Mayans. I know there are many fans of the show but I feel like there is not enough people writing for it and showing it love.  

Note:  I roughly guessed what the guys ages would be at the beginning of the series based on their apperance and actors' ages. I would love to know how old you think they are!

Bishop – He didn’t have any qualms about his attraction to you in the beginning. Walking up to you when you were at the clubhouse and flirting with you, saying it was good to see you around. He didn't think too much about it, he likes the way he feels when you are responding to him in a positive way. Bishop lies to himself, he doesn’t purposefully seek you out in the crowd, but Taza points it out for him - "Don't worry Prez, your girl is outside, having a smoke with Gilly". - And that phrase hits him; the fact that someone has noticed his interest in you, and more so called you "his girl" - that spreads warmth in his chest. He wants you to be his girl, but he is not sure how you feel about it. Sure you reciprocate his attention, smile at him and spend more time with him than other members of MC, but it doesn't mean you want anything more with him than friendship. The age gap is large, Bishop could be your father; and the potential comments that would follow make him shrudder, yet the thought of you in his arms makes him think that he could deal with being the butt of the jokes for some time.

Taza – Taza thought that love is not for him anymore. But the familiar butterflies are starting to dance in his belly again when you laugh at his joke. He loves the feeling of it, but the moment he realises it he gets scared. He is not ready for it, he didn’t think it is possible, he is too old and commited too many sins to be rewarded with these emotions. Taza wonders what he can possibly offer you? His life is filled with violence and loneliness.But then he takes out his phone and sees your name across the screen Che thinks that maybe he can give it a try.  

Tranq – Tranq is a rough man, for the majority of his life he had only his mother and the club. He is "El Pacificador", a giant of a man, always in the epicentre of fights. Even though he is not the loudest and meanest in the club he thinks he might be too imposing for you, scare you away. Let alone the fact that he is in his 40's. Still, when he is next to you Hank’s increased heart beat drowns out the doubts. Against his wishes the softer side of him comes out. The way you lean on Tranq's shoulder when you are tipsy, or when you ask specifically for his help with your car makes him feel special, and he never wants to let go of this feeling. Quite the opposite, he feels insatiable, he is hungry for your affection and Hank wants more of it. He is not a greedy man, he shares everything in life with his club, but you are someone Hank wants to keep all to himself.

Riz – Michael has been disillusioned with life long ago, many people in his life shunned him; only in the brotherhood of Mayans did he find the solace. Riz craves love, family and companionship is something he always secretly wanted. Maybe that's why he was always a ladies man - trying to fill a void in his life with someone, something. When he met you for the first time, it was hard to avert his eyes from you. You were like the smell of rain in summer before the thunder strikes, Riz felt that when you stepped into the clubhouse you brought change with you, and it was just for him, and he welcomes this feeling with an open heart.

Riz knows he likes what he is seeing and he wants you to like him as well. He just needs his chance to prove that he can make it work, and he does what he does best, trying to smooth talk you. Offering you a drink and showering in compliments. He wants you to have a good time with him, he sure does with you. Once you jokingly called him an "old man", Riz quickly shot back that he prefers "daddy" instead, laughing at your shy expression. Age is not a problem for him, not when it comes to you and what the two of you could have, and he is willing to show it to you.

Creeper – Creeper didn’t really think that romantic love was for him. Since childhood there was nothing but darkness staining his life, like he is punished for doing something in his past life and can never repent. So Neron never expects gifts from live; he takes, but only gives. He gives his loyalty and time to his club and he gives his love to you, Creeper doesn't feel like he is allowed to receive any back from you.

Neron feels disgusted with himself and his want for you. You are almost too clean for him, Creeper doesn't have the right to mess you up. He tries to avoid you, but it’s as if you are always seeking him out, sipping on water with him at the parties, forgoing the alcohol. All the time you are asking him about his tattoos, and one time while planning your own you reach out and touch his forearm where a faces of women are depicted. Neron feels burned, but its amazing, he wants to keep your hands there, on him, interested in him. He is scared of rejection, he wants your love, he is ready to trade anything in his poor life in order to be yours.

Gilly – Gilly is know for “disarming” ladies, but it was a shock to him when you swooped into his heart and disarmed him. This young woman, too young for him comes and can out-do him in telling dirty jokes? Who are you? And you are playfully offering to arm-wrestle him, losing instantly. But he loves it, he feels like a teenager again, trying to show off infront of you. You have him wrapped around your finger and you don't even realise it. Other guys are teasing him in good fun, but when one day Coco jokes “you better act up brother or all the younger ones will steal her from under your old nose” Gilly laughs with him but it makes him think “oh shit…. I don’t wanna lose her to anyone”.

Coco – He was a little apprehensive at first about his feelings for you. You have less of an age difference with Letty than with him. He thinks that what he is feeling for you is wrong, even if you are a grown person. Coco always tried to stay away from the things that he cares for, it’s easier that way, he doesn't hurt anyone but only himself that way. You are precious to him, you care for him and Letty seems to like you. He already made all the guys in the club aware that he is interested in you and not to treat you badly. When members from other charters come and you are there, he makes sure to be near you or to keep an eye on you. You should be treated with the outmost respect and gentleness. Gentleness is a funny word for Coco; mainly because nothing in his life is, but he wants to learn it for you.

Angel – Angel stopped caring what other people think long time ago. He feels like he always has to prove himself to others and its never enough. So when you praise him, Angel can't even stop himself, he is floored. You think he is amazing, and you support him when he has a bad day. You are younger, but he feels like he has to look up to you. You are showing him the way of how to live life without being afraid of rejection. Angel thought he is brave, but he relearns the defenition of it when he is with you. He doesn't see the age gap between you as a boundary, because there is so much you bring to his life. And Angel wants for the first time in his life too repay that affection, he wants to make it his mission to worship you and elevate you. You are his guardian angel.

Ez – He hasn't been lucky in love, EZ knows he falls in love fast and hard, but with you he feels like he is falling even harder. Even though your age gap is not too big, he feels like you have whole life ahead of you, he doesn't want you to be tied to him. There is so much you could be doing, travelling, things that EZ cannot join you on. But he is aching for you to choose him over everything else, although he will never admit it, as it will be too selfish. It feels like his life is fixable when you are together and he doesn’t have to just survive anymore, with you he can live.

A Relaxing Day At The Beach

Readers 18+ Only

Summary: You spend a lazy day at the beach with the boys. Inspiration for this came from yet another Lana Del Rey song called Music To Watch Boys To. Hope you like. Mentions of Angel, Creeper, Coco, Gilly and Ez.

WARNINGS: Just some light language and naughtiness.

You dig your toes into the warm sand, the smell of the ocean and sounds of the waves crashing onto shore always took you to a special place, one of peace and tranquility. You could easily fall asleep, the ocean waves and songs of seagulls flying over the sky was like nature’s lullaby. On any other day you would have already dozed off but this day was not like any other day.

“Ey, watch what the fuck you doin’. You damn near knocked my beer out of my hand.” Gilly shouted to Coco who had bumped into him.

That was the third fight that had broken out in the half hour that you’d been here. Kids. It was like watching kids fighting over petty things. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. It’s like they look for any excuse to start shit, like they don’t know any other way, it’s all they’ve known you surmise. You put your headphones on, the ones with the flowers on them. You roll your eyes and hit play on your phone, the sounds of Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Today’ flowing through your ears drowns out their shouts. No, there would be no peaceful napping on the beach today.

Still it was quit amusing watching them argue now that you couldn't hear them. Using body language and your knowledge of their individual personalities, you could imagine quite accurately what they were saying to each other or re-imagine what they were arguing about. You make a game of it, adding your own narrative to the scene.

“That ain’t my fault though. You shoulda had a better grip on it.” he grinned but Gilly wasn’t haven’t it. Gilly gets in his face and Coco bracing himself for a fight. 

You wonder how far this will go before someone intervenes. You always like to watch Coco get all worked up, he’s very… passionate. It often leaves the mind wondering if he’s that passionate in all things. It doesn’t take very long before Ez is there trying to break it up.

You look around and find Creeper hitting on a random girl he just met, or at least attempting to in his own way. Large breasted and nearly half his age, the woman was clearly out of his league but he was either oblivious or didn’t care. Wild horses couldn’t drag away Creeper’s confidence. He’s showing her all his battle wounds. You wonder as he points to one in particular why he thinks that would actually work but it does. The girl’s face softens up and you could almost hear the ‘ay, poor baby.’ as she traces one of his scars. He of course is all smiles reminiscent of a kid in a candy shop. Oh he is trying to fill his bag with sweets today.

He tried that on you once but it hadn’t work. You had just snickered and said, “well maybe next time don’t get shot.” That had led the entire club in an uproar of cackles and ribbing on Creeper but he didn’t care. If it had bothered him it did not show one bit. He’d just smiled innocently at you, “that’s okay y/n, one day you’ll change your mind and I promise I won’t mock you when you do but I might make you beg for it.”

You turn your attention to the ocean but it's not the waves that have caught your eye. It’s the tall dark haired man walking out of the water that you are drawn to. Beads of salt water trickling down his body, you count each one only to lose count as a new one falls down. One particular drop catches your gaze and you follow it down to his abs. You’ve heard of washboard abs but your curious as a kitten mind questions if you could actually wash your delicates on it. A naughty smile creeps across your face as you imagine yourself washing your panties on those abs while still wearing them, you bite down on your lower lip to hide it and begin singing along to distract yourself from your own fantastically kinky thoughts. 

The drop you’ve been following takes its painfully slow time to make its way down, further down, way down until it reaches its final destination, the very edge of his black swimsuit. Leave it to Angel to be wearing speedos. Unaware that you were even still gawking you let out an audible gasp loud enough to both snap you out of the most delicious thoughts and get the others’ attention but you paid no mind. Angel’s eyes were on you now and there was a storm brewing there, a dangerous one. One of amusement, desire and lots of mischief.

“You like what you see, babygirl.” It was a statement not a question. Like he knew he was that hot, like he knew if he just reached between your legs he’d find your bikini bottoms soaked. That ego and the confidence of this man was through the roof.

“Yes, Daddy.” You answer in your sweet good girl voice.

Oh yes there was definitely a storm coming, one that promised to fulfill all unspoken fantasies, even those you’ve never acknowledged to yourself.

When Uma and Gil visited Harry for the first time post D3 aka officially meeting Harry's dad and snakes

"Harry, there's no way in hell you actually live here!" Uma muttered as the trio stood in front of the Le Fay recidence.

"Oh really?" Harry grinned and knocked. "Daad! Father we're here!"

"JUST COME IN THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED!"

Uma and Gil looked at each other in shook, yup that was Captain Hook's voice no doubt.

Harry had close to no reaction as he opened the door and pulled his friends in. Both of them looking around in awe at how big and fancy everything was.

"Dad just finished sprucing up the place," Harry explained. "thank gods he has magic I would've never cleaned this by hand!"

"H-Harry..." Gil smiled nervously and moved closer to his friend. "D-don't freak out but ehrm... that thing is getting closer!"

Harry frowned and looked over where Gil was pointing, seeing a big snake slithering towards them.

"Oh hi there buddy!" Harry laughed and extended his arm for the snake to climb onto.

"WHY ARE YOU HOLDING IT?!"

"Hey!" Harry frowned. "Did I react like this when ye introduced me to the sharks?"

"No but-" Uma studied the snake. "That thing is venomous!"

"Only of he bites ye," Harry shrugged. "he won't unless ye piss him off!"

At that, as if the snake understood what Harry was saying it lightly hissed at Uma before rubbing it's head against Harry's chin

"Anyways... dinner won't be done for a bit... ye guys wanna see my room?"

"Can we meet your dad?" Gil asked carefully. "Where is he?"

"Probably in his office," Harry shrugged. "I'll send Jerry to see if he's busy or not!"

"Jerry?" Uma frowned.

"Him!" Harry pointed at the snake as it slithered up the stairs.

"You named the snake Jerry?"

"Not me," Harry sighed. "Dad's the one who named all the snakes in the house!"

"You have more snakes?!"

"Your dad is terrible at names for his pets," Uma snorted. "At least to he was better with his kids..."

"He wasn't," Harry laughed. "Father just didn't let him have a say!"

"Come on now Harry!"

All three kids turned around to see a man with dark blonde curly hair and deep brown eyes walk down the stairs.

"I think Monty would've been a lovely name for you!"

"Better than what ye wanted to name Harriet," Harry rolled his eyes playfully. "Captain, Gilly... meet my dad"

"Morgie Le Fay Hook at your service," He smiled and bowed. "my son talks about you two all the time!"

"DAD-"

"Is he lying son?" Hook smirked as he entered the room.

"So Harry..." Uma narrowed her eyes playfully. "When you talk about us... what do you say?"

"N-nothing special!" Harry sputtered and glared at his parents slightly.

"Cmon guys I'll show you my room!"

"Bye Captain Hook and.... Mr Hook!" Gil smiled brightly as Harry pulled him upstairs. "It was nice meeting you!"

thinkin abt my personal take on the twins use of social media

i genuinely think lngo just has fb and thats it. emmet had a twt and fb. neither of them are super active, but emmet lurks and sometimes replies to things out of the blue, occasionally with lngo's input bc he does show him the things he sees and reads

gear stn absolutely has multiple socials on active platforms and post frequently but someone else manages it. they just sometimes show up upon request, but they do have access to the accounts and there will be the odd video/post they made of their own volition. theyre mostly personal posts abt upcoming events or educational videos abt pkm or some locomotive history but theres the odd silly video. incld one twin tormenting the other once every blue moon

Sariel sequel

I'm actually very surprised how much I like it. Of the three sequels I have read (Chev, Leon and Sari) that seemed to me the most interesting one. It's not that the others are bad, there's something about them that I really couldn't agree with. And that alone didn't allow me to fully immerse myself in the story (or believe in it).

I've finished all the sequels with only dramatic endings, so my opinion may be incomplete.

So… There was one thing I was very afraid of when I started reading Sariel's sequel. I was afraid Belle would feel "not good enough for him". He is much older, he has more experience, he knows much more than she does. It was pretty easy to imagine what she was thinking so. But to my surprise, she didn't feel it in the slightest. Moreover… I found that their bond is the strongest. I can't say why without spoiler, let's just say I feel that way.

I really like Belle in this route. Sometimes she cutely silly, but mostly she is very mature and calm. Her worries, her thoughts, her words, her actions are very logical… It was quite interesting to watch how her story unfolds.

I like Sariel here. He became softer, but it didn't change his core. It's like the ice has melted or… the stone has been polished… Slightly changed, but still the same. I like the way he interacts to Belle. This couple is really a couple. And I truly believe in their connection. It feels very strong.

I like that there was so much Azel in it. I like this guy, and his unique personality adds much-needed humor to the story. He definitely hadn't planned this. And there was a bit of Licht. He also added a few jokes. Again unintentionally.

The only thing that seemed strange to me was that Belle suddenly had paranormal abilities. Well… the same thing can be said for all sequels. She suddenly starts talking to Azel in her dreams even before she met him. In this story… she had a little more ability. But… it doesn't look too excessive to annoy, just the right amount. So, let's say that Tanzanite is such a magical place that even a simple girl like Belle has awakened special abilities.

So it should be a really good, even perfect sequel (and I still think so), but… There was a scene in the last chapter that just made me sad. I don't see this as a spoiler, it doesn't have any information about the plot, only before and after, but… just in case…

The delegation was sent to Tanzanite for one purpose only. Really. Just one. Find out the reason for the creation of the alliance.

And what are Sariel and Belle talking about when they get back? About their adventures, about the goods in local shops (including the gifts they brought with them). They weren't on vacation! This is not some kind of family reunion!

(exasperated sigh)

As a very loyal servant, first thing that Sariel has to say, "I'm sorry, my king, I didn't complete the task you gave me". But no… he didn't say that! Yes, a little later there was a scene where Sariel talks to Leon one-on-one, but it wasn't shown, it was behind a black screen. I belive it was about Sariel's past (judging by what was in the epilogue).

I'm just a little annoyed that they didn't even think about it.

I need to find a picture… a moment…

Yes, Gilly-bee, they really truely forgot about the deal with you… (shaking head) Fools indeed.

Disney Branded Television Builds Phineas And Ferb Revival Panel At New York Comic-Con 2024.

Mom, look! There's a Phineas And Ferb panel at New York Comic-Con on the way, Phineas, Ferb and Candace will be at the Big Apple for the first time ever to reunite and discuss the epic return of the cult classic series.

The panel slated for Thursday October 17th will provide sneak peeks of Season 5 as well more news about the new season, additionaly the panel will be accompanied by a sneak peek of Disney Television Animation's 100th series overall "StuGo" created by Ryan Gillis set to drop on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this Fall.
