The Newsreader to end with Season Three, and Season Three's release postponed until 2025
Well that is a heartbreaking sentence to write. A double whammy of sadness. A sentence that I knew I one day will have to write, but it still doesn't make it any easier.
I'm sure you've all seen this article by now. As sad as I am to see this, all good things must unfortunately come to an end. Even the show I've dedicated myself to so fiercely for nearly three years.
What the entire team behind the show has managed to achieve in such a relatively short time is incredible. It feels like we've spent longer with these electric characters and that gripping storyline, but in reality it's only been for twelve episodes, and we are very lucky to still have six more to go.
It has been an immense joy getting to spend time with The Newsreader, and I'm so extremely proud of each and every one of the people involved. They're really my telly family now. You can count on me to bring you all the Newsreader joy from all characters' and creators' perspectives for the remainder of 2024, and into 2025 with Season Three 💖

Blessed Fra Angelico
c. 1395 - February 18, 1455
Feast Day: February 18
Patron of Artist
Blessed Fra Angelico, born Guido di Pietro was an Italian painter. He joined the Dominicans in 1407 taking the name Fra Giovanna. He was initially trained as an illuminator. The Dominicans noticed his artistic talents and commissioned him to paint frescos in his convent of Fiesole. Fra Angelico then was moved to the friary of San Marco in Florence, where he painted some of his highest artistic achievements; The Annunciation, The Adoration of the Magi, and The Crucified Christ, to name a few. His piety was legendary and his artistic innovations and use of color inspire artists to this day. He died in Rome and is buried in the Church of
Santa Maria Sopra Minerva and was beatified in 1982 by Pope Saint John Paul II.

1. Gerhard knows he is not the father. He probably was more involved then we were actually meant to believe. He is allegedly impotent, according to Maria and the villan.
2. I don't know if Angelico knows. I have not watched COCOON yet, but idk if that play will actually give us the information we need or not, regarding this situation.
3. In TRUMP, it seems that they have a Draco and Lucius Malfoy kind of relationship? Like 'do you know who my father is, he is in the congress and can get you fired'. Sooo yeah idk how to consider this relationship.

The Newsreader Turns Three Years Old! 💖
In the morning, it will have been three years since The Newsreader first aired on the ABC, on the 15th August 2021!
Since that day in 2021, we all found this show at various points along the way, and we have created this beautiful community around it across many platforms. As much as this is a day of celebrating what the cast and crew have put together, it is a day for us too, because we’ve kept The Newsreader’s online conversation going even when the media have stopped covering it. We’ve made it the cult hit it has become.
Tumblr media
For me personally, I’ll forever be grateful to this show for coming into my life at the moment it did. From rescuing my sense of boredom during lockdown, to helping me grow into the person I’m meant to become, and for giving me creative opportunities that I could have never dreamed of, the past three years have been an incredible creative ride. The 15th August will always be a special day to me, to celebrate the piece of media that has changed my creative life. I am so grateful for the creative spirits behind it, the people in the fan community surrounding it, for nurturing my brain and helping me find my creative voice. It has meant so much joining the News At Six family.
I thank everyone who has contributed to this digital birthday presentation, for their words which demonstrates how much this show means to its viewers. I was in awe of everyone’s words and thoughts about what makes The Newsreader special to them. I’m proud of us all, and thrilled that we found a show which we feel at home in, especially those of us who feel different. There is a place for us after all, where we can feel loved just the way we are.
Happy Third Newsreader Anniversary, everyone, from News At Six 1986! 💖🌟📺📰

Dic nobis Maria,  quid vidisti in via?
Sepulcrum Christi viventis,  et gloriam vidi resurgentis
Angelicos testes,  sudarium, et vestes.
Surrexit Christus spes mea:  praecedet suos [vos] in Galilaeam.
—-
Tell us, Mary, what did you see on the way?
"I saw the tomb of the living Christ and the glory of his rising,
The angelic witnesses, the shroud, and the clothes."
"Christ my hope is arisen; he will go before his own [you] into Galilee."

This is actually one of my very favourite scenes in the show! Seeing the vastly different personalities and dispositions of all three women in this scene was delightful. Cheryl couldn’t have been any cuter and bouncier here, Jean was in her typical no-nonsense and discerning role, and Helen's anger towards her situation was so palpable.
It is very much a moment of girl power in this show! The two women who really do look out for Helen at work are there with her and she is at least calm enough to be polite and try to carry on like business as usual around them, because they have a somewhat calming influence on her. She really does like and respect Cheryl and Jean.

From Rome they headed north into Tuscany, stopping in Arezzo to see Piero della Francesca's fresco cycle The Legend of the True Cross in the choir of the church of San Francesco, before arriving in what was the undoubted highlight of this first trip: Florence. In the chapels of the Bardi and Peruzzi banking families in the Basilica of Santa Croce, Rothko looked at frescoes by Giotto that he had previously known only in reproduction, and he would almost certainly have seen Masaccio's emotional painting cycle in the Brancacci Chapel in the church of Santa Maria del Carmine. Among the many places that he and Mell visited were two particular buildings that would have an enduring impact on Rothko's work and the decisions that he would take with it in the course of the next twenty years. The first of them was the Dominican church and convent of San Marco, with its tempera frescoes by Fra Angelico in the monks' cells (see below). He was captivated by the sourceless, evenly dispersed light that Fra Angelico achieved, which afforded the individual rooms a deeply meditative serenity. The social context and physical experience of the frescoes—intended to be seen by one single viewer at a time—were in themselves a revelation. 'When you go to Italy', Rothko later told Ben Dienes, 'you must see the Fra Angelicos'. 'He felt everything was of one piece,' said Dienes. 'The division was of one piece. That's the way he put it. You saw the wholeness of it'. Writing in the catalogue for Rothko's presentation at the Venice Biennale some years later, Sam Hunter identified this experience as the most deeply moving of that entire first trip to Europe.
