Like the shipping for aesthetics, the female being horribly mischaracterized, the male being portrayed as this perfect person/perfect match for the female, the relationship only being an endless pit of despair for both people involved, the stealing of aesthetics/tropes from other canon couples, ignoring text evidence of what the female wants and needs, forcing a lifestyle onto the female, romanticizing scenes/things that shouldn’t be romanticized, twisting canon, making shit up that didn’t even happen in canon, the ship obviously being in favor of the male’s happiness, sometimes only being shipped as a way to hate on the female’s already canon mate… The stans of the ship attacking people when they don’t agree, or manipulating others.

one of the main problems with most men as it relates to their interactions with women is that they don't understand or care about the difference between feeling useful and being useful because they are not accustomed to questioning their own subjective experience as individual instead of universal, nor are they willing to accept the testimony of women as it relates to the woman's experience or best interests. most men will ask me if I need anything and then hem and haw and dither when i say yes, and then fuck it up if he tries to perform the task i request. or, another option, simply do something he has decided is helpful, declare that he has helped, and retire satisfied that he has done his duty. the third option is needing detailed instructions for every step of the thing i need help with, creating two tasks out of the one task i had before he offered to "help". if you describe how this entire situation is a problem, this creates a third task when the man's feelings are hurt because his unhelpful "help" wasn't lavishly rewarded. i don't know how to even start addressing the complexity of this issue in the context of genderpolitik but it informs huge swathes of women's daily household and workplace experiences, and men are largely unaware of it.

I've been thinking about this more and more recently (or, rather, am letting myself think about it), and I've finally decided to start learning the languages some of my family would have spoken before emigrating and it's kind of crazy.

Children of more recent immigrants have said this so much better, but it's such a weird feeling to know that you can't speak the same language your family can or did. It's such a weird feeling - to be locked away from your own family, your own blood, and for so many people, it is a form of violence and even genocide done unto them.

Honestly, if you're a child who's got family who has or did have family who spoke languages you don't or can't... Learn them, if you can. It's a surreal experience, and it's kind of liberating, in a way. It's teaching me more about parts of my family, how they might have spoken to me if we had the chance to live in the same era.

Well... ok. I’m slow sometimes. I have limited free time and a lot of interests with which to fill it. I don’t like being slow but I’d rather not give friends half assed stories, or force myself and resent my hobby.

There are some who will, despite best efforts, take slowness deeply personally. I’ve learnt this. It sucks, but it’s ultimately on them to tailor their experience to suit themselves. But I won’t bend my time to fit into someone else’s ideal rp experience if I’m not already good enough as I am, yknow.

he's a hard one! for poses and clothing, pinterest is a good reference. lots of old promotional pics of detectives in trench coats for movies and such. lots of old magazines from the 50s are on the internet archives, too. for the man himself, if i'm having a lot of trouble, the xps file is available online so i'll open that in blender and get a good look (though the addon used for xps files doesn't work on blender 4.0 onwards, so you'd need a slightly older version). i'd lean on referencing real photos way more than the model, if you can get away with it. there are anatomical discrepancies that are hard to bridge working 1:1 from them

feeling many things rn. terrified abt a lot of life changes like switching majors and needing a new job and transportation changes and even stupid little stuff like fixing my hair or avoiding the roach thats hiding out under my bed. and then below all that is this simmering pot of butterflies about my partner. i knew our prev date was going to stir up a lot of feelings but im so. !!!!!!! idk if t4t love is just that insane and intense or if im just really really clicking with him but he might have the most beautiful smile ive ever seen. hes literally radiant and i think hes the first person to ever give me butterflies and after last date somethings *changed* and theyre like. still butterflies but different somehow. i dont know what im ready for but i think about him and his smile and i can imagine myself actually truly falling in love even though its just infatuation rn. but in the past imagining that felt more distant and i guess i didnt know what it would look like for me, but now i feel like i have an inkling or a possibility. i cant wait to see him again and hold him in my arms
