So here's the lowdown on what's been going on with me... for the past 5 months I have been terrible with my diet... severe anxiety that has turned into depression that has destroyed my drive and motivation...couple that with major personal life events as nagging old people injuries and I have undone almost all my hard work on my weight loss journey... today is a new day... good to see I can still hit 770lbs after 2 weeks of no leg workouts... keep positive my friends and I will try my hardest to do the same... 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) - 8/10 - The Persian "God-King" Xerxes swears he will bring his wrath on General Themistokles from Athens. In this sequel, Athens proves to be a very powerful adversary. After learning of Leonidas sacrifice, Athens and all Greece unites to fight and bring down the Persian Army. I was waiting more marching and more clashing between armies but I was not dissapointed when I started to see Naval war and what strategies Themistokles brought to the table. They're usually associated with fearlessness, courage, tactics, and harshness. Rumors and small talk suggested one of them was worth several men of other states which was clearly proven.

Their state focused on their education which primarily and heavily focused on sports and war tactics. They also included poetry, music, academics and politics.

Their involvement in with the army began in infancy as they were inspected by the Gerousia. Leading a life full of harshness if the baby was found to be weak, he was left at Mount Taygetus to die. Those who were lucky enough and deemed strong were then put in the agoge at the age of seven. But luck was not enough as under the agoge the young child was kept under intense and rigorous military training. Only then those who passed the agog by the age of 30 were given full citizenship.

During war their armor varied throughout different periods. In the Archaic period they were armored with glanced bronze cuirasses, leg greaves and a helmet. Their primary weapon was the Doru and for long range they carried a Javelin not to forget the shield with the famous lambda letter standing for Laconia or Lacedaemon. In addition, their second choice of weapon was a Xiphos (Pictured below the helmet) or the Kopis which was seen as a quintessential "bad guys" weapon in Greek eyes.

As we advanced to the Hellenistic period their equipment had evolved drastically as the Pilos helmet had became almost standard within the army until the end of the classical era.

Moving on they trained in Pankration, which is a famous martial art in Ancient Greece that consisted of boxing and grappling. They were so adept at Pankration that, when it was inducted in the Olympics, they were mostly forbidden to compete. 

Being trained all their life and lacking the luxuries most people enjoyed they found glory in battles, after all it was the only thing they knew and perfected. They led a number of glorious battles most of which they have been victorious and some that they have lost dramatically.

They have been involved in the Messenian Wars, Wars with Argos, Persian Wars, Athenian War, Corinthian War, Theban War, Foreign War, Chremonidean War, Cleomenean War and finally war against Nabis.

They have led a harsh life from the early stages in their lives and have been trained to survive. Boy were encouraged to stead food, if they were caught, they were punished, not for stealing but for getting caught.

The men were required to stay fit and ready to fight until the age of 60.

Their main name is often used to describe something simple or without comfort.

They considered themselves to be direct decedents of the Greek hero Hercules so it was their duty to preserve the strength of their name.

I personally admire their strength and truly believe they were not just an army but more like warriors. Blood didn't seem to be running through their veins like any ordinary human it was more life bravery, harshness, tactics and pure power. I do disagree with some of their practices such as the Infanticide ofcourse.

But overall really understood their concept in life.

300 (2006) - 7.5/10 - King Leonidas from Sparta, marches with an army of 300 spartan to battle against the Persian "God-King" Xerxes. The ultimate sacrifice must be done by Sparta. The narrative in the film sets a very historical tone. The CGI used on the battle is beautiful. Sparta really made a statement when battling the Persian army. I did not felt the story was rused, I mean, the film starts with the Persians already mocking/insulting the Spartans. Also, I loved how we get a glimpse of women having political power and how women demand respect.
