You have to let go of your petty concept of reality. That's just baggage from the old world, and we both know that didn't work out very well now, did it? They fucked up our planet! Life eats life! And all that's left is what is. This ship is a seed from which we can create a new world! A natural state! Raw, beautiful... perfect! I am offering you the kingdom, and all that's holding you back is your own fear!

31 Nights of Halloween Horror 2024
Day 16
My choice for Wednesday was Color Out of Space
Tumblr media
Wow. Ok first off, I rated this movie 8/10. Starts off kinda slow, but when it picks up, it goes from 0 to 60 pretty fast lol. Great acting from everyone, especially in the later half of the movie once shit hits the fan. Also, another movie where Nicolas Cage screams in a car (like in Longlegs), and another movie where he tries to break down a door to get to someone in the basement (like in Mom and Dad) lol. The effects were great, there were some creepy moments, some funny moments, and some truly horrific moments. Like, wow. Horrendous. Just god awful things happening to people. My only complain is that the teen brother felt underutilized? He didn't do too much other than talk to Tommy Chong, and then SPOILERS HERE he just climbs into the fucking well because he thinks he hears a dog? Dumbest decision everrrrrrr lol. This movie was nuts and so fun to watch, and visually so pretty. Definitely worth a watch, and I can't believe it took me this long to get around to watching it myself.

I Saw the TV Glow is such a uniquely, devastatingly queer story. Two queer kids trapped in suburbia. Both of them sensing something isn’t quite right with their lives. Both of them knowing that wrongness could kill them. One of them getting out, trying on new names, new places, new ways of being. Trying to claw her way to fully understanding herself, trying to grasp the true reality of her existence. Succeeding. Going back to help the other, to try so desperately to rescue an old friend, to show the path forward. Being called crazy. Because, to someone who hasn’t gotten out, even trying seems crazy. Feels crazy. Looks, on the surface, like dying.
And to have that other queer kid be so terrified of the internal revolution that is accepting himself that he inadvertently stays buried. Stays in a situation that will suffocate him. Choke the life out of him. Choke the joy out of him. Have him so terrified of possibly being crazy that he, instead, lives with a repression so extreme, it quite literally is killing him. And still, still, he apologizes for it. Apologizes over and over and over, to people who don’t see him. Who never have. Who never will. Because it’s better than being crazy. Because it’s safer than digging his way out. Killing the image everyone sees to rise again as something free and true and authentic. My god. My god, this movie. It shattered me.

I.S.S. (2024) Movie Review
Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s I.S.S. is a low-budget thriller set in the shoebox of a set replicating the International Space Station. The film sets out to be a slow-burn potboiler (despite a 95-minute runtime), where chummy colleagues are thrown into an international geopolitical dispute that sows distrust and paranoia. Kira Foster (Ariana DeBose) is greeted warmly by the crew of the space station,…

Ah yes, the "evil" family.
I thought it would be even more funny if it was Luke, of all people, the one who wanted to watch Bloodbath in the Black Moon of the Dragon System.
