Striking of the Clock
BrainDead or DeadTired idea.
During Tim's BruceQuest he uncovers hidden texts/tombs of a being that controls and watches over the Time Stream and Tim knows this being will have to be his best bet of finding Bruce while also trying to figure out on his own how to get Bruce out of the Time Stream as well.
However the being doesn't have a summoning sigil due to being an Ancient.
He does find the sigil for the Ghost King however, a being that borderlines into Ancients power territory and could in theory grant Tim an audience with the Time being if Tim plays his cards right.
In the end, Tim decides it was worth a shot. He convinces Ra's to 'help' him summon the Ghost King. Ra's wanting to see if such a being could be real and to see how far Tim is willing to go to bring Bruce back, allows League resources to be used.
It takes a few weeks, with Tim also making plans to undermine not just the Council of Spiders but Ra's as well, but eventually the time to summon the Ghost King comes.
Tim honestly was expecting the large eldritch like being that showed up, he just wasn't expecting the being to be basically a formed galaxy mixed with ice and the northern lights itself.
He also really wasn't expecting when he negotiated a deal with the Ghost King, and taken into a place called the Infinite Realms when they shook hands (Tam and Prue is also taken with him, he refused to leave them with Ra's), for the being to shrink down and turn into a white haired, green eyed teen around his age who starts flirting at him.
Nor was he expecting for another being, one that apparently is able to shift aging forms, and a grandfather clock in its chest to appear next to the teen and bonk the white haired teen with a staff and tell him to stop flirting with his future new apprentice....
Wait what?
-x-x-
Danny is rarely, very rarely summoned since taking the mantle of Ghost King. Due to being a new Ancient most old sigils that was once connected to Phantom (mostly teens from Amity tired summoning him a couple of times) no longer worked and the only ones that did were the ones he gave to his friends and family or the Ghost King ones (but again rare due to how rare texts/tombs to the Ghost King is written down)
So when he felt the pull of a summoning he made sure to go in his eldritch form, mostly to see if he could scare them or at least intimidate.
Honestly he was expecting the cult, given the fact they summoned a being known as the (freaking) Ghost King, maybe not them being assassins/ninjas but still a cult.
He wasn't expecting the cute, same age as him too, guy in the room.
(CW totally paused time for a second, gave Danny a file on who and why he was summoned, discussed getting Tim Drake out of Ra's hands (and maybe allowing CW to finally have his own future apprentice because Tim is a smarty smart whose been slowly able to figure out the freaking Time Stream itself.), and then started the timeline again)
Danny decided, after striking a deal, that since he's going to be working with Tim, aka Red Robin (who Danny found out used to be Robin! From Gotham), from now on he might as well shoot his shot and flirt with him and-
"OUCH, CW REALLY?!"
"Stop flirting with my new apprentice for now My King, we have work to do."

Prompt 264
Danny squints at his tiny hands, eyes narrowing as Clockwork hums in the kitchen. Which he wasn’t even aware of having been in LongNow. Maybe it wasn’t. He huffed, voice too squeaky for him to continue complaining. Stupid time accidents.
Which wasn’t even starting on the other figure awkwardly sitting at the table.
He glowered at the Ghost King, who kept glancing at him with an unreadable look in their eyes, then looked back towards where Clockwork was. His scowl deepened over his cup of tea- which wasn’t fair, he wanted coffee but nooo, that’s not healthy for ‘little ghostlings’. Ugh.
Sometimes he wished he was fully ghost so he didn’t have to apparently worry about his living body having to grow back up.

Just a boy who likes space.
I wanted to experiment and wanted to draw him in space and with a baggy suit…so I did. Messed with his hair because usually I just draw it as it is in the show but I wanted to faff around with it.
Also don’t normally do anything with ghost king?? But it seemed cool for this so here we are
I am 100% open to critiques and input, I want to be able to make my art be the best it can be!! So if you have any comments, please feel free to let me know :)
I do know his ear is weird…I just did not care enough to fix it, I finished this around 2am
Alternate + close ups under the cut

HASO (ignore inaccuracies. There are aliens and I killed realism with a shank)
The door slams open startling the various aliens in the room. It's a blur of shouting and chaos as they drag Ghost through the doors of the medical center.
A doctor nearly shrieks when they finally push through the crowd. It's very apparent why when you factor in the nearly severed leg on Ghost.
And yet somehow he's still talking and conscious. Hell he's asking for *food* as if that's the most pressing matter to him. That'll be the VERY strong painkillers. The limb is tied off but he's still bleeding. The doctor gives him a mask to administer nitrogen, and he nearly takes it before the Captain stops the action. A gruff "oxygen." The doctor opens his mandibles to protest, but Gaz butts in, "humans need oxygen."
Soap is keeping his distracted as well as he can.
"Y'know wot I could go for? French fries."
"Aye, s'that so, lt?" Soap laughs.
"Yeah. And... maybe a leg."
"Oh really? I hadn't noticed."
"Yeah actually."
Soap rolls his eyes. Ghost is VERY high.
"You owe me a drink now." Ghost says, trying to sound very serious (and failing)
"Oh do I? And what for." Soap asks skeptically.
"I made the jump."
The doctor cuts away the fabric of his pants. It's a gruesome sight. He tells Price they'll more than likely have to remove it.
"Yeah an lost your leg." Soap deadpans
"Eh semantics, 'sides I had some extra weight in the back."
"Excuses."
A needle pricks Ghost's skin, and the next think he knows Soap is wishing him a goodnight before he falls into black.
"So 'm I a robot yet?" Ghost mumbles, without opening his eyes. He hears a chuckle.
"Couldn't squeeze your fat arse into a leg while you were asleep. So no." Soap laughs. Ghost sees not that he's got a basket of fries in hand. He frowns. Where's his fries.
"Are those my fries?"
"See. Fat. These are mine, get your own."
"Aww c'mon Johnny, I'm a cripple now."
"Y'are not n you know it."
Ghost sticks his tongue put at him.

Replaying phantom hourglass and I really don’t think it’s fair to characterize Linebeck as a coward. Like yeah he doesn’t want to go into the dungeons or the temple of the ocean king, but the temple of the ocean king sucks the life out of you, you see skeletons and spirits of people who died in there. He actually did go in there by himself and got trapped. Another thing to keep in mind is that he’s a normal person, he doesn’t fight and he prefers the laid back lifestyle. Now he does want treasure and that gets him motivated, but that treasure is also in a life threatening ghost ship that takes victims here and there. It makes sense that he’s nervous about that.
Another thing to keep in mind is that when you do fight monsters and bosses in the sea, he’s not scared at all. He tells you that there’s an enemy, he cheers you on, and even when you die he just kinda accepts his fate. He’s a competent and capable man on the sea, and you know that he knows what he’s doing. Also, as soon as you see the ghost ship after you get the second sea chart, he tells you to go straight ahead, to chase it down. Again, he’s motivated by Treasure, but he doesn’t hesitate to chase after the ghost ship.
Maybe as an adult he should go and help Link who is just a kid, but keep in mind that this is a video game and you don’t want your hand to be held the entire time playing. His role only seems to be sailing you around anyways, not traveling by your side like Ciela (I’d imagine it’d be different for a full grown man to be following you around, cuz most Zelda companions hide away while you’re playing)
Anyways, Linebeck is cowardly at times, but I wouldn’t characterize him as a coward. A greedy pathetic scoundrel, yeah, but not really a coward.

Late to the game as I’ve kinda been kinda non-here for a minute but I scrolled through the Dot and Bubble tag, and thought I wanted to write this post into existence.
There's this part in Doctor Who Unleashed where RTD says this:
“What we can’t tell is how many people will have worked that out before the ending. Because they’ve seen white person after white person after white person, and television these days is very diverse. I wonder, will you be ten minutes into it, will you be fifteen, will you be twenty, before you start to think, everyone in this community is white. And if you don’t think that — why didn’t you? So, that’s gonna be interesting. I hope it’s one of those pieces of television you see, and always remember.”
And I'm like. Yeah. But the reason this works even as well as it does is largely thanks to the work of the previous showrunner with the previous creative team, which was notably the first era to have any writers of color (amongst other firsts in terms of inclusivity in directors, composer, actors). While Chibnall fumbled whenever he tried to write about race himself, he did have the self-awareness to have Black and South Asian writers writing the episodes where race is the focus (and a female writer for the episode where sexism is a focus; my point is, he seemed to know his shortcomings).
I wonder what the current creative team looks like? (not really, but I wasn't 100% sure for all of them)
Tumblr media
To quote RTD:
“...before you start to think, everyone in this community is white.”
This is pretty non-self-aware, right? It's pretty “It is said, and I understand this, there was a history of racism with the original Toymaker, the Celestial Toymaker, who had ‘celestial,’ and I did not know this, but ‘celestial’ can mean of Chinese origin, but in a derogatory way,” right? (from The Giggle Unleashed) It's pretty “and I had problems with that, and a lot of us on the production team had problems with that: associating disability with evil,” right? (from Destination Skaro Unleashed)
—none of which are issues that should be overlooked, but think how much exponentially better they might’ve been addressed if he’d consulted with Chinese writers and wheelchair-using writers before going straight to giving the Toymaker weird fake accents and making Davros walk?
How many Black or non-white people do we think saw the Dot and Bubble script before it landed in Ncuti’s hands?
And this just keeps happening.
And like, from some of the shocked responses I've seen from white viewers to the ending of Dot and Bubble, maybe the episode's unsubtlety was needed? From the way RTD talks about it in Unleashed, the episode was written with a white audience in mind, Baby's First Microaggressions (where of course the microaggressions come from people who are pretty self-admittedly white supremacists). Ricky September, a more seemingly normal depiction of someone in the racist bubble of Finetime, seemed like an interesting element, up until the way he died.
The ending worked for me, because I do think the Doctor's reaction is true to how the Doctor would react. I just keep thinking of how much better the core themes could've been handled by someone with actual lived experience on the subject matter.
#dot and bubble#fifteenth doctor#rtd critical#anti rtd#ricky september#lindy pepper bean#dw negativity#racism#antiblackness#words by seaweed#not to be anti rtd. im just very critical. Anti RTD is just a tag which people use or block#every showrunner has their flaws but RTD is the only one self-righteously virtu signling over NOTHING. which is why im more critical.#plus the on-set sxual hrassment and what happened with Chris Eccleston etc. it vindicates me. idk. not tryna be a hater#ALSO dot and bubble is leaps and bounds better than any racism commentary I expected from Russell T Davies. so theres that.#can you tell I'm shy abt making long posts that someone is likely gonna be not happy about-#I usually search tumblr for posts to rb and talk in tags. but I couldnt find any posts about this this morning! tho I think ppl have since#etc its fine to critically appreciate imperfect media etc I do it all the time (as a Black fan) (who also thinks Rosa has Flaws) etc#I did see someone on twitter pointing out the hypocrisy of all white writers but twitter does not have space to talk about things#also love that The Church on Ruby Road has Mark Tonderai who became the first black director w The Ghost Monument. I love his directing#but that's the Christmas special. it is not part of this season. and honestly fr it's not close to enough#love the inclusivity in front of the camera. lets get some of that in the writing team NOW. it's hurting for it.#bring back Charlene James. can you hear me? was the best episode of Season 12.#the ep felt like a commentary on the “RIP Doctor Who” ppl under every official Doctor Who post? hence social media?#it does work best that way!! it just felt a little off of that way in rtd talking#idk im rambling. I did enjoy it tho. I just wish. but well.

my friends are putting on a slideshow night and i may have underestimated how complicated the plot of ghost quartet is to people who aren't mentally ill about it
because in my head it's so simple. yeah the wind and rain timeline kicked off the story but chronologically it's the second incarnation of these characters. yeah multiple characters are played by the same actor in the same timeline. yeah the storytellers are the actors using their real names. yeah they're part of the story too. what do you mean you don't get it

Gray and Graysons
One of the Bats has a secret. Something they never told to the others.
They were so very young but they have memories of a sibling, so small and tiny. They remember the burst of warmth they had in their heart when they held the tiny baby for just a moment.
But they weren’t allowed to keep them, their family couldn’t raise them. Money was tight, just enough for three but not for four, despite their shows always bringing in a crowd it was getting harder and harder for the world to be wowed by them in the new age and their sibling was too small and tiny and needed to be cared in a single place than for them to be on the road. Their lifestyle was not good for his tiny sibling apparently.
They had to watch as their parents gave his sibling away to people in suits, them promising to give his baby brother to a loving family when they find a ‘home’ for him. He watched his parents try to be strong only for his mother to break down once the car left down the road, his father holding her and apologizing, the rest of the circus troupe all silently coming over to give the heartbroken family condolences.
Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson had tears running down his face when he last saw his baby brother.
A brother he got to name before he had to be given away.
Daniel ‘Danny’ Grayson.
-x-x-
Dick never told the others. If anyone dug deep into his past they might find his brother’s birth records maybe, if someone got around to digitizing the paperwork for him but given the fact he was placed in the US childcare systems just a few days after his birth and the fact that Dick was still pretty young they most likely believed he didn’t remember his baby brother now. Not after so many years.
But they were wrong, Dick remembers. And he kept the secret close to his heart and memories.
And the only physical evidence he had was a single picture of him holding his brother, a smile on his tiny face towards their father who had taken the photo of them together. When he had lost his parents, lost most of the things that connected him to them, to his past in the circus that had been his whole life, had been taken from him in Gotham’s ruthless childcare system, he held on tight to the picture in secret. Hid it away from anyone trying to rip it from him, hid it from Bruce when the man took him in days later, hid it from Alfred despite how gentle the butler was towards him. He couldn’t, wouldn’t risk losing his photo at the time, he hadn’t trusted anyone and by the time he did he didn’t have the heart to reveal it.
So yes, the existence of his baby brother Danny was his most guarded and best kept secret.
So that’s why Dick, as Nightwing, nearly died from a heart attack when leaving a Justice League meeting he spotted a familiar face among one of the new engineers working in the Watchtower.
It was like seeing a young version of himself. Only, Dick could see that the young man was more than a copy of him, so much more than a clone. He held many traces of John Grayson but also had a bit more of Mary Grayson than Dick did. Small details that Dick foggely remembers taking note when he had held his baby brother.
“Hey, hurry up with that report Gray!” Shouted the head engineer from down the hall, his hand beckoning the young adult to come over.
“Coming! And boss, I told you Danny is fine!” Danny shouted back before hurriedly leaving a stunned Nightwing.

So tempted for Space Core Danny with Time Core mentor Clockwork because it would just fit so well. Time and Space. Like I am just so very weak to it. And I want to combine that idea with like, Sun Core Dan and Moon Core Dani just because I think it would be so amazing.
Maybe also combined with Liminal Jazz and friends- though that would imply them also becoming ghosts once they pass, and I am also here for that.  Space core Danny also fits with the ice since areas of space can get below -400 degrees, which can most definitely flash-freeze something. So there’s his ice abilities makin’ sense in the idea. Alongside other things that I am not researching the science for right now haha

thinking about jj and roslyn. about how after roslyn died, her father upped and left and her mother was a shell so little jenny had to grow up too fast. had to take care of herself because mommy couldn’t get out of bed. how jj didn’t just have to be a good now, she had to be perfect. had to be the perfect daughter, perfect student, perfect athlete. she doesn’t let herself stop or take a break. how she had to live the life her sister would have because who else was going to? so she goes to high school where everyone knows her as the girl whose sister killed herself, to college where she’s a nobody which is relieving and terrifying, to the fbi academy, to an office filled with files of horrors that she shouldn’t feel normal looking at but that sort of thing twists your head up when you find your sister dead in a bathtub age eleven. thinking about how jj dates guys roslyn would like and her mom wouldn’t, about how she has a baby out of wedlock the way her mother thought roslyn would someday and out of spite, maybe, doesn’t marry a guy who loves her because she doesn’t want to give her mother the satisfaction. how she has to be the perfect mother to her boys because roslyn was supposed to be that, someday, and jj won’t repeat and repress the things with her boys the way her parents did when she was young. how sometimes she looks at her life and wonders how much of it is her own and how much is for roslyn. thinking about jj feeling like she has to step into the space roslyn left behind. thinking about jj being haunted by her sister.

Nevermind, I got them finished! I present, Performance AU designs!
I like C the best overall, but I might do some versions where I add D's jacket and/or B's shorts and stockings. I'm not proud of A tbh.
I don't know if I want to do the umbrella, a cane or no prop. I like the idea of the umbrella being a weapon, but then again, Danny doesn't tend to use weapons very often :/
What do you think?
Tumblr media
I'll put some coloured versions of one of the designs once I get it down! I'm also scared that they don't look much like Danny and I can't tell if that's because it has no colour or if it's just a style thing... Then again, I guess the whole point of the AU is that he's pretending to be something he's not so-

my kaine playlist is 2 and a half hours long...
okay well actually it's more like—
there's my primary Kaine playlist which is 2 and a half hours long and kind of doubles as a partial Janine playlist (still mostly Kaine but there's bound to be some overlap, all things considered):
and maybe it has some questionable song choices
There's my Spider-Man (well, really it's just Peter) playlist which is also 2 and a half hours long and has perhaps what some might call "too much" Blink-182 and pop punk on it:
There's a mixtape from Annabelle to Kaine which probably isn't done yet but is 40 minutes long:
There's a response from Kaine that he makes after leaving which is 44 minutes long and also probably technically not done yet:
There's also a playlist for the "worst year of peter's life" fic-in-progress which is 55 minutes long, probably complete, and which is sort of about Kaine but is also about Peter and in general about the entire situation that they've all been subjected to (including like, Flash's interactions with not-Peter (Ben)) and also a little bit about the past:
I don't have a playlist for Ben lol
