“No, its Shampoo and then washing your body so the shampoo sits in your hair”

You and Cheol, your boyfriend of a 5 months, have been in his apartment, quarrelling about the stupidest thing.

You were both in the kitchen trying to cook something for dinner. Your best and safest bet was pasta and that's exactly what he tried to make. Keyword: TRIED

An abrupt doorbell rang, and you jump.

"Coward" Seungcheol laughs at you as he walks to the door. You stick your tongue out at him.

You heard him open the door. “Mom?”

Mom?!

You run into your room, do a quick fit check, straighten out your clothes and fix your face. Try to make yourself look as presentable as possible in the fraction of a second you got.

You stepped out of cheols room to see his parents walk in the hallway.

Do I look okay? Is my hair tidy enough? Will they let me stay? Should I make an excuse and leave? Im panicking.

All these thoughts come to your head while his parents smile at you. You smile back and wave a little awkward wave.

“This is my girlfriend, y/n”

You were glad he introduced you like that, not that you doubted he wouldn’t, but it felt good to be introduced like that, especially to his parents.

“She’s pretty” the mom says putting her stuff on the couch. You immediately help her with her stuff, taking it off her hands. All you could focus on was to make a good impression.

This is not how you had pictured meeting the parents of the love of your life. Cheol was the best boyfriend youve had and youve even spoken about marriage with each other and it had barely been 5 months. When it’s your soulmate, you just know, and this was exactly that. You’ve seen many relationships go to shit because the girlfriend did not gel with the mother, and you were terrified of the possibility. She seems like a nice lady though.

“Do I look okay?” You whisper to your said love of your life, Choi seungcheol in the kitchen now.

“You look perfect, don’t worry” he whispered back.

“He’s cooking pasta? You will have to get your stomach checked later” his mother jokes walking into the kitchen.

“I’ve been getting better! (Y/n) is teaching me! I can do pasta” Seungcheol whines.

“Poor girl, don’t ruin her stomach” his mom teases. It makes you giggle.

“If water was burnable, he’d burn that too” she says as the conversation moves to the dinner table. His mom dissing him every chance she gets is hilarious to watch.

The pasta he made was finally done and brought to the dining table.

His father engaged in some small talk. You were grateful, you couldn’t stand the awkward silences. He asked you the basics, where do you work, how you like it.

“So, do you live together?” His mom shoots at you without warning.

“Pretty much” cheol answers for you to take the pressure off.

“This new way of living together first before getting married is a good trend, it’s easier to see if you’re compatible, that’s good” she comments on nothing specific. Your face is on fire.

Neither of you knew how to respond to that so the conversation died.

“What do you do?”

“Oh Im an AI researcher at University”

They definitely don’t know what that means so the conversation died for the second time, mostly because you were nervous.

His mom accidentally dropped her fork. The sound echoed in the apartment, it was that quiet.

“Mom wait, let me get your a new fork” cheol oddly insists and rushed to the kitchen.

“Y/n, where are the forks?” You hear his voice from the kitchen. It was his acting voice.

He knows where the forks are.

“I’ll help him” you say sheepishly smiling. You get up and go into the kitchen confused.

“How do you not know where the forks are in your own apartment?” His mom calls out from the dinning table.

He motions you to come over to him with just his hand like he has a secret to tell you.

Of course he knows where the forks are.

“What is it?” You whisper.

“They’re going on a cruise next month, ask them about it” he whispers back.

Your cutiepie, your conversation iron man had come in to rescue you from awkward silences. You peck him cheek and whisper a “thank you” becoming excited and running out front.

“I forgot where I had put them, she seems to know where my stuff is better than I do” cheol comes out behind you and hands his mom a new pair smiling foolishly.

He sure acts well.

After some more pauses, you gather the courage to bring up the cruise.

“Seungcheol had told me sometime ago that you are going on a cruise next month, are you excited?” You try to strike the conversation up again.

You see his mom’s expression change to pure joy. You could see the lady was excited.

“Yes! Its a 2 week cruise to the Mediterranean sea”

“Sounds exciting, have you been on other cruises?”

“Ever since retiring, thats all theyve been doing,” seungcheol adds.

“All for her, I wouldn’t be surprised if she buys a ship and leaves me behind here” his dad chimes in and chuckles.

“Oh sure, I’ll go to this next one with my son then, Im sure he wouldn’t mind” his mom says a little annoyed.

“Don’t drag me into your fights”

“My aunt is in administration for one of the cruises, I can ask her for a discount on your package if you’d like” you say.

is that a bribe? Almost. Who doesn’t like discounts.

Luckily his mom’s eyes lit up.

“Maybe you guys can come with us next time as a family trip”

Family trip.

You never got family. You grew up in a broken home and did not particularly understand the dynamics of a working healthy happy family, like the one you’re seeing infront of you now.

Just imagining to be a part of this family was enough to bring you joy. All you hoped and wished that you would fit in well.

The rest of the night, his parents told us all about their cruise adventures and misadventures.

“How did I do?” You ask nervously, biting your bottom lip as he turns around after closing the door.

The parents had left, it was a good time, a little nerve wracking but a good time overall.

“You’re perfect” he says snaking his arms around your waist pulling you closer. “Im sorry they came in unannounced, if I knew I would’ve asked them not to”

“Are you kidding? They’re your parents, they’re legally allowed to come unannounced, I was just very nervous”

“Why?”

“I really love you, I don’t want your parents to hate me” you couldn’t stand the thought.

“They could never hate you, my love”

You sigh in relief.

“Although… her impression of you might change if you don’t get her that discount now” he teases.

“Oh I will get her that discount alright, even if I have to scale the earth twice”

He giggles at your determination.

My dear lgbt+ kids, 

So, you have been in a relationship for a while and you’re ready and eager to take the next step - but your partner isn’t. What now? 

The “next step” I’m referring to here could mean a lot of different things because relationships do not all follow one specific timeline (and also because my readers may be of wildly different ages and live in wildly different situations) but I am thinking of any “deepening our commitment” things here: for example introducing them to your friends or your family, moving in together or (if you are in a situation where that’s a legal possibility) even marriage or having a child together. 

Whatever the step actually looks like, you may have this romantic idea of “If they’re right for you, you’ll always naturally want to take these steps at the same time”… but that’s not really how relationships work in real life. Even in the healthiest relationship and even if you absolutely feel like they’re your soulmate, you may still disagree on when to take those steps or even on whether you want to take these steps at all. 

In fact, it’s uniquely frustrating if everything else is going well. If their refusal to meet your mom is just another point on the long list of behaviors that make you feel like they don’t really care about you, that’s also painful but it’s easier to give advice there: maybe you should think about breaking up. It’s tempting to believe that you can make them love you more if you move in with them or that they’ll treat you better once you get engaged, but that won’t work out. You can’t fix a broken relationship by deepening the commitment - commitment needs a stable foundation to grow. And this doesn’t only go for outright abusive relationships: they may be a wonderful person but you two just have entirely different goals and needs, and those won’t suddenly overlap more just because you moved in with them or married them. 

With all that being said: if there IS a healthy and stable foundation, if you are happy in every other aspect and they’re just hesitant about this one specific step, then jumping straight to “break up with them” would obviously be pretty unhelpful advice. Differing opinions occur even in the most compatible couple, you are both whole people with your own individual feelings and those do not necessarily doom the whole relationship. It’s important to see this situation in the context of the relationship in general. 

You may be able to guess that a big portion of the advice is just gonna be “Communicate with your partner” - but first of all, I’d advise you to have an open and honest conversation with yourself. Why is this step of commitment so important to you? What does it mean to you? Do you feel a sense of urgency in taking it and if so, why? Is this specific step the only possible path for your need to be met? Are you open to alternative approaches, are you open to waiting (and if so, for how long)? The purpose of these questions is definitely not to convince yourself to give up on your needs or to talk yourself into a compromise you’re not really happy with! The opposite of that, actually: It’s helpful to reflect on what exactly you want and why you want it, so you have the clarity you need to discuss it productively. You don’t want to agree to something that ultimately leaves you unsatisfied and bitter, but you also don’t want to push hard for something you later on realize doesn’t even mean that much to you. 

When you feel confident enough about your own stance to discuss it with your partner, the most important thing to remember is: you’re on the same team. The goal here isn’t to “win” or to change their mind, but to see each others perspective better and find a solution you’re both happy with. Listen with an open mind. Try to understand before you try to influence. Remind yourself that your partner isn’t your enemy, they also want the best outcome for both of you - otherwise you (hopefully) wouldn’t want to commit to them! 

Something you should get clarification on during your conversations: is it a hard no (do not want to do that at all ever), a soft no (open to alternatives or adjustments), a no for now (want to do it but not yet), a yes but (want to do it but only under certain circumstances or in a different way than your original plan) or a I don’t know? How does this affect your feelings on the situation? (I’m sure that even just while reading these different scenarios, some instinctively feel better or worse than others! But it’s still important to take some time to sit with any new information that comes up during those conversations. Neither of you should feel pressured or rushed here!) 

You may find that they just never considered that there may be multiple approaches to that step (an example for this would be that they are not actually opposed to the idea of being married to you, just to the idea of a wedding, and didn’t consider yet that eloping is also a possibility) - but don’t set yourself up for disappointment by expecting the conversation to 100% go that way. It may also be a hard no, and that wouldn’t make them a horrible person. People can deeply, truly love someone and still do not want to take certain steps with them. It’s a good idea to remind yourself that you’re not “in the right” or “the better person” for wanting to take those steps. While certain steps may be a big part of your own future plans or even of your identity and self-image (and that’s valid!), they are just personal preferences. It’s not a moral obligation to want them, and your partner isn’t mean for not wanting them. But, of course, at this point we also need to say: if you can not imagine a life where you never get married, you are not a horrible person for breaking up with a partner who can not imagine to ever marry. “Irreconcilable differences” are a common breakup reason for a reason. 

So, to summarize: Building a strong foundation is crucial before taking big steps. Communicate openly with yourself first - understand why you want to take this step and if there are alternatives. When talking to your partner, remember you're a team; it's not about winning but understanding each other. Be open to different responses, from a clear no to conditions on a yes. Do not pressure your partner but do not completely give up on your own happiness either. 

The journey of commitment should be a shared adventure - not a battle or a competitive race!

When dan said “It's so lucky to find someone you can be THAT compatible with,” I think about this picture:

Well maybe not this exact picture but this particular cross-hand autograph signing thing they do at every joint meet n’ greet.

Of course their compatibility goes way beyond this. It’s what Dan himself described, “two people - if you just get on with someone really well, someone you can spend time with... is that a soulmate?”

I would agree.. but let’s just talk about the hand thing.

I’m sure it started coincidentally. It began when they decided Dan and Phil sounds better than Phil and Dan. From that, it’s the unwritten rule of TV that dictates Dan should always stand on the right side of Phil. It’s so that audience could naturally see from left to right, Dan and Phil, just like how they’re called. I think they talked about this in one interview, citing Ant and Dec as an example.

And it just so happened that Dan is a lefty. When they signed things at the same time, it became natural for them to cross their hands to sign, so that their autographs read Dan and then Phil from left to right as well.

I said “natural for them” because it’s actually quite ridiculous when you really think about it. They can just do it one by one just as easily and only a few seconds slower (if even that.)

But yeah, natural for them might not make sense to anyone else, like when they decided rubbing cat whiskers out of the other’s face simultaneously backstage in tatinof is easier than having a stage hand do it for them, which still baffles me to this day.

The most important thing though, is it works for them. It has always worked for them. It still works for them like many of the life manoeuvres they probably set for themselves but we’re not privy to.

It’s just them, perfectly slotted into each other’s life in more ways than one.

Summary: Cursed energy has many expressions- inherited techniques, reversals and maximums. 

Occasionally, cursed energy of a sorcerer will react with another sorcerer’s cursed energy, or perhaps their soul. In these cases, a bond is formed that can tie families together, increase power, or spark love.

There’s not much special about you, he’s surmised that. 

In the couple days since he first encountered you in the medical area, he's checked your sorcerer file and discretely asked Shoko about your abilities. She’d been unfortunately suspicious about any questions from the get go, and hadn't offered any particularly useful info. The pages of your records also left much to be desired- you’d gotten an accolade for good work on a mission several years ago, and at least he learned your technique. But the documentation could really stand to be improved. 

That’s how he’d been led to a more unconventional approach- getting first hand evidence. It’s not creepy, of course. Even with the blindfold, he can usually make out where people are located on campus based on their cursed energy signature. If he pays a little more attention to your particular pattern now, it’s really just to monitor from a distance.

What he did learn is that it doesn’t seem like you even do much, just get sent out on missions, take your meals alone, and slink off to the archives. That last part could mean trouble for him though, if you’re looking for what he thinks you’re looking for. 

Something has caught his attention though- he’s run into you enough times (and perhaps looked for your cursed energy signature) to see that the level of cursed energy in your body fluctuates. Like a lot. 

Now it’s normal for cursed energy levels to fluctuate a little, especially for the students he teaches. But it seems that your technique may allow for a wider range of energy than is common for others. The top levels he’s seen from you are more than he was expecting, to be totally honest, and Gojo can’t help but be a little curious. 

That’s how he goes from observing your cursed energy signature from afar to accidentally passing you while walking across campus, or happening to take a meal at the same time. 

It’s not as if the other teachers or career sorcerers pay him much mind anyway. Beyond the mind-numbing faculty meetings he has to attend every so often, people aren’t really lining up to talk to him. And talking to his students is nice, but the truth is that he spends most of his time alone or working too.  

And obviously he’s not going to strike up a conversation with you. It’s just that there has to be some reason your cursed energy was compatible enough with his to create the mark, and there’s no harm in being curious. He’s just staying on top of the happenings on campus. 

And between watching the first year students and supervising their missions along with his own, he doesn't have a ton of down time. But as the days go on without any confrontation, your blip of cursed energy still catches his eye as he goes about his days. 

You’ve been spending a lot of time down in the archives. It could be innocent, but most sorcerers don't have a reason to hunt through decades old records, especially not multiple times a week. And just because you haven’t approached him yet doesn’t mean you’re not planning to do so. Life would be so much easier if you let this go. 

Classes are done for the day and he finds himself scanning the campus, seeing the bolts of cursed energy move as sorcerers go about their days. It’s easy to pick out your mark from the others. He rocks once on his feet, and makes the decision. 

It looks like you’re grabbing dinner in the communal dining center. Gojo doesn’t usually spend much time there (the miso soup is awful, and he can buy a better lunch anywhere in the city), but you seem to take most of your meals on campus. The dining center is on the way to his office on the other side of campus, so he has an excuse ready. 

There's a few other sorcerers dining too, you're sitting with a woman he doesn't remember the name of, talking in low voices. Your expression is serious and reserved, it doesn't look like you're having a great conversation. 

Gojo strolls into the cooking area and rummages through the contents of the fridge. Some kind soul has made a huge portion of nikujaga- a little note on top inviting anyone who needs a meal to enjoy some of the meat and potato stew. He’s certainly in need of a meal (and a reason to sit and listen), so he scoops out a portion and quickly heats the meal. 

He heads back to the seating area, and pretends to deliberate for a moment on where to sit, but he knows already there's an empty table to your left. It should be the perfect spot to enjoy his meal and maybe learn whether you're digging around, looking for whoever you're matched to. 

He settles down and begins to eat, ignoring the glances from other tables. You don’t seem to notice his arrival though, your focus is fully locked on your companion’s face. That’s all the better for his purposes. 

It's a shame the Six Eyes didn't allow him to hear better as well as see, cuz more sorcerers have filtered in for lunch, and the low buzz of other conversations leak in and make it hard to hear what you might be saying. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be anything good, the way you scowl down at your bowl.

Snippets of your voice cut through the chatter, and he can hear you questioning your companion. Gojo studies your face while you talk, oblivious to his attention. Wearing a blindfold really is great. 

He can't hear much, but there's a name that's been mentioned a couple times, and Shoko's name too before your friend glances around and brings their head closer to yours. Soul marks are usually kept out of polite conversation, so it’s possible that you may be discussing them now. 

Gojo casually shifts in his seat, inching closer to your table, but the other voices in the room carry away or bury whatever it is you're talking about. He can't help a disappointed frown. There's no way to know if you've guessed his role in your soulmark yet, he'll have to continue keeping an eye on you.

Your heart is stuck in your throat, waiting for Akina to deny what you thought you had heard.

“Yeah, apparently the case file was wrong, otherwise they probably would’ve sent you or I. There were three Second Grade curses, and Ippei barely made it out alive. He won’t be sent out again for another three or four days.”

“Really?” You sigh. “I’m glad he got out of there. How did you hear?”

“I saw Nitta dragging him out of the car. Shoko was already there and they needed help getting him down to medical. She was already using RCT by the time we put him on the table,” she pauses. “He looked really rough.”

“I didn’t think Ippei would be the one to get hurt.”

It’s true, though Ippei was a year above you in school, he’d always had a fiery spirit and the air of someone who usually got lucky. He was strong for a Second Grade sorcerer, and there’s a pit in your stomach thinking that he almost died. 

“I didn’t either.” Akina sighs and takes another bite. 

After your immediate return to work after your own injury, you hadn’t really felt like discussing that mission. But apparently you’re not the only one to receive less than accurate information from case notes, and Ippei hadn’t gotten as lucky as you had. 

You lean in closer across the table. 

“They sent me out with bad info too- I got hit in the field and had to get fixed up by Shoko. The file only had details for one cursed spirit, but there was a second,” you whisper. 

Akina’s eyebrows furrow. “We’ve all gotten cases where the Grade of the spirit was off, but there’s hardly any cases of multiple curses in a single assignment.” 

“That is strange.” Had there been anything else that connected your and Ippei’s cases? Only the management team knows the full details of all the assignments. There's usually some comparison of hardest cases when the career sorcerers get together, but it's rare to have many of you in one place. 

“Well I hope that the scouting staff gets better info moving forward.” 

Akina is almost done with her lunch now, but the conversation hasn’t left you with much of an appetite. 

“Yeah.” 

In a lot of ways, you’re going in blind. Being sent out on assignments is more unpredictable than ever, and you're worn out from the constant work and extra research you've been doing on the side. If you're not careful, exhaustion will catch up with you in a nasty way. 

You stir the noodles around your plate. Investigating the mark hasn't gotten you anywhere so far, but it's clear that something has changed in the way case notes are being dealt to sorcerers. Apparently your time stalking the records hasn’t ended yet. It would be more valuable to pour the time and energy that you do have into what's going on there, before one of your colleagues loses their life instead of a couple days spent healing. 

Paranoia leaks into your daily life after your conversation with Akina. The hairs on the back of your neck rise at the sense of unseen eyes when you creep down to the archives. Every meeting with Ijitchi or the directors is riddled with fear that they know what you’re searching for, that your conversation will turn into an ugly confrontation about what you’re trying to dig up. 

It’s uncomfortable and eerie, and leaves you tumbling into bed each night, in a dreamless sleep before your head hits the pillow. But you do pay closer attention to the comings and goings of other sorcerers- frequenting the common areas to see who’s on campus and who might be out in the field, listening for any straw gossip that another mission might have begun with bad info. 

The first week passes uneventfully. There doesn’t seem to be whispers of horrible missions or any abnormal mission schedules as far as you can tell. No one has approached you about the daily visits to the underbelly of campus, or commented on your own abnormal schedule. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the trivialities of work, and most career sorcerers take their time off seriously, so it’s unlikely that your behavior has attracted attention yet. 

On Monday the following week, you’re off call, and you use the time off to prowl through the campus once again. The first stop is the dining area for a quick breakfast. The space is largely abandoned in the stretch between breakfast and lunch meals. You make your way across campus, briefly stopping at the large building that houses most of the recreational spaces. There’s a few people relaxing on the low couches in the largest room, a variety show buzzing under the current of conversation. You don’t know anyone here particularly well, so you keep moving.  

Next, you head into the campus library. The room is far more welcoming than the archives below, with wide windows and paper doors that let in the natural light, and dark shelves with orderly rows of books and tables. On a whim, you step deeper into the library. You’d been totally focused on records and mission notes, but it’s possible that something up here may be useful. 

You search the stacks and pull a couple of references before settling at one of the long tables to begin reading. Nothing you grabbed should look controversial or give reason for pause, and frankly, it’s nice to spend some time outside your room or working. 

Hours pass before you hear someone enter the room. You peer over the top of the page and find Gojo browsing a shelf across the room. Your brow furrows- it’s during the week, shouldn’t he be teaching right now? There’s not any students accompanying him, though, and he doesn’t seem to be in a hurry. 

You aren’t certain if you’ve ever seen him this close, and he is striking. Gojo’s hair and uniform contrast in the warmth of the sunlight, and he easily plucks a book from the top shelf. He searches the stacks and meanders into a section closer to your desk. Your eyes snap back down to the page and you try to re-immerse yourself in the text. It's a study of the nature of cursed energy, how it is developed and how it can coalesce into cursed spirits. It's mostly theoretical and frustratingly hasn't yielded any info in the seventy-ish pages you've skimmed so far. 

When he’s just a meter away, he finally seems to notice that you’re sitting there. 

“Oh hey!” He calls, then says your name in a questioning tone. You nod once in confirmation. 

“I’m Gojo,” he grins. 

It’s impossible to keep the surprise off your face. 

Obviously he’s Gojo, anyone who’s spent more than a day in Jujutsu society knows who he is. Then at once, a suspicion in your gut. You glance back down at the titles on your desk- maybe he did see something curious there. 

“Yes,” you slowly say, including another polite nod. 

“Looks like you're doing a lot of reading.”

“It's just a bit of research, nothing too crazy.” You offer a tight smile in return. Hopefully he'll take the hint and move on without bothering you further. 

“Oh yeah? A little passion project?” He tilts his head to be parallel with the titles of the books.

“Something like that.”

You lean forward a bit and try to casually adjust the stack of books before you, tilting the names away from where he’s standing. It’s hard to tell where exactly his attention is since you can’t see his eyes, but it’s clearly somewhere on you or the books. Maybe you should have brought these back to your room instead. 

“Yikes, that’s quite a stack. I think I'll stick to this.” He gestures with the single book in his hand. His fingers cover most of the title, you can't make it out. “Well good luck with your findings!”

Without waiting for a response, he saunters back out the door. 

Huh. 

After the run-in at the library, you start to see glimpses of Gojo around the campus. You’re nearly certain he wasn’t so present before, as you surely would have noticed him around (it’s hard to miss a white haired giant), but it’s hard to explain when you cross paths while walking to dinner the next day or when he’s lounging in the recreation room after you finish your work day the following week. 

You’ve never really interacted with Gojo. Obviously, you’ve seen him around the campus, but there’s not much the two of you have ever had in common. He was working as a sorcerer when you started school, and soon after you graduated he had moved on to teaching. Now he only gets called out for the biggest, nastiest curses that the other Grade Ones aren’t strong enough for. 

But lately you’ve caught more glimpses of his bright hair while walking to grab lunch or to be filled in on your next assignment. His schedule must change constantly with the students’ needs- you remember hearing there are four first years, the largest group in several years. 

There aren't many sorcerers that live on the Tokyo campus, and most of them you'll only see one or twice a week. Perhaps it's just that you are spending more time in the common areas yourself. It's difficult to say, but your senses stay slight whenever you see him. As the most prolific sorcerer, he's got to have some sway with the leadership team, and you're not eager to have your research uncovered yet. Next time, you'll be more careful when you sneak into the archives. 

And you are. In your treks down to the library or the archives, you don’t encounter Gojo or anyone else, there’s only the dry, sweet scent of the books, and the crackle of pages and whispering sweep of folder covers against each other. Slowly, the suspicion lessens, peeled away by the monotony of day to day life and a lack of return on your investment in watching others. 

The prospect that there may be something larger going on is enough to spur your investigation further- nearly every day you find yourself searching for older case files, through records of the administration of the school and sorcerers throughout the years. If there is something going on, you’ve got to figure it out before someone else gets hurt, like Ippei, or worse happens.

i honestly think that when it comes to joongdok it would be much easier if i answered with the tropes i WOULDNT put them in 😭😭

oh boy here i go! let's start with two of the most obvious first:

1. matching outfits with opposite color schemes, and 2. opposites (leo & aquarius) attract (<- attract as in lowkey bordering in codependency)

yin & yang - not only are joongdok aesthetically yin&yang but narratively too (i mentioned in a previous ask that they're sky & earth too)

star-crossed - (if you believe in orv's sad ending)

life (and death) companions - is probably a trope on its own considering the meaning of the title. not only does it mean (i ran the term through a thesaurus so yall don't have to 👍🏻👍🏻) "a romantic partner with whom one is exceptionally or uniquely compatible or has a special connection" but the synonyms are also of the romantic variety ranging from (but not limited to) life partner, best friend, soulmate, spouse, true love, one's promised, significant other, love of one's life, beloved, heart's desire etc (long story short, pretty sick tbh. no wonder kr dudebros threw a fit in singshong's comment section over it. i get it) and what makes it infinitely funnier is that it started as crack being treated seriously 😭😭😭😭

anyway, continuing where i left off, Soulmates - kdj is the reason yjh exists. yjh is the reason kdj lives. (hsy wrote both of them in a way that they became each other's salvation hence their position of reader-protagonist gets switched in the epilogue and both of them have admitted that reading about the other's story has saved their lives)

everyone ships them/everyone can see it - uriel, gabriel, ljh, hsy, jhw, lsh, anna croft, persephone/hades (the third eligible candidate to marry kdj was yjh and you will never be able to convince me otherwise. also if you have an answer other than yjh ur wrong), yma (if webtoon dares not to draw the "oppa looks happy when thinking about that ahjussi" you'll see me on the news) the wenny king. heck even gong pildu, upon some consideration and by method of elimination, deduced that theres no way kdj has enough rizz to pull neither ysa nor hsy therefore who was left to be the one who helped kdj birth his "child" (kidified sp) ??? yjh obv 😭😭 and why would he question the possibilities of mpreg when hmo is right there anyway. heck hmo even told kdj that he should try it.

In Norse mythology, Hodr is the blind twin of Baldr and the God of Darkness (contrast to Baldr’s light). He was framed by Loki who gave him a sprig of mistletoe to throw at Baldr.

Here he has ice powers and works selling fridges and repairing them. I find him the most tolerable of the Johnsons. I'm disappointed they didn't include disabilities from Norse mythology. Hodr is BLIND!!! He'd be much easier to identify like that too!

Degrassi ask today despite promising I'd limit myself to one...yes, I'm hopelessly addicted to both the show and your thoughts on it :) How would you rank all of Clare's canon romantic ships from your personal favorite to least favorite? Same questions for Maya and for Emma! (The 'protagonist/final girl' Degrassi types tend to have every male character into them at some point or other lol, so you'll have a lot of choices when ranking ships for Emma and Clare!) I love you for sending me asks and will answer when and if I can formulate a coherent thought!

Clare Edwards: (Fair warning, I'm going to disappoint you with my answer):

1.) Clare/Drew (In all honesty, I don't think any of Clare's romances were completely right. But I genuinely think Drew came the closest to being what Clare needed. Clare is a very serious person who can easily get lost in romanticism and logic without allowing herself to take a breath and just enjoy the moment. Everything always had to be "all or nothing". But with Drew, things could be fun and lighthearted and just.. normal without needing to be some "epic love" or larger than life thing. I loved the close friendship that developed between them and the opposites attract dynamic. It really sucks that they were robbed of having a real relationship and that her baby wasn't his. If nothing else, they would have made healthy co-parents)

2.) Clare/Jake (Controversial choice, I know. It's not the best relationship or even the one with the most depth, but this is another relationship where everything didn't need to be so serious all the time. Obviously, they weren't compatible and could have never lasted due to wanting different things for a relationship. That's before you factor in that their relationship ended for good because their parents got married and it was really awkward)

3.) Clare/KC (It's the nostalgia. They were very sweet in season 8. I hoped for an embarrassingly long time that the two of them would get back together, up until season 12 when KC unexpectedly left the show. In hindsight, their chemistry wasn't the strongest and KC wasn't anywhere near ready to have a real relationship during his time on the show. But I preferred KC for Clare over the next guy)

4.) Clare/Eli (I'm so sorry. I genuinely think Eli was one of the worst things to ever happen to Clare. Their relationship had both extreme highs and lows but at the end of the day, I think Clare put up with a lot of disrespect and maliciousness from her self-imposed soulmate. I realize that early on, a lot of Eli's behavior could be attributed to his undiagnosed bipolar disorder and continued grief over his first girlfriend. But then, this behavior continued for the rest of his time on the show. When things went badly for Eli or Clare did something he didn't like, she suffered the brunt of his worst behavior. Coldly calling Clare a whore for sleeping with Drew while she was single was the last straw. I'm happy you were able to enjoy them. It would have been a lot easier for me if I felt the same way. Clare had grown so much over the years, yet her spine wasn't strong enough to realize her worth.

1.) Maya/Zig (I can't be objective about these two. They're my all time favorite couple in any work of fiction. I loved their development and what they brought out in each other, for better or worse. Easily the best slow burn or friends to lovers arc ever attempted on Degrassi)

2.) Emma/Spinner (They had cute moments and would have worked way better had their romance not been shoehorned in at the literal last minute. Unfortunately, choosing to have them get married and declare their eternal love all in one movie turned most fans off)

3.) Emma/Chris (I thought this worked really well as a rebound romance, but it was never going to last. I also hated the slut shaming after Emma's fling with Jay)

hi :) i have kind of a weird question, i know you don't do future spouse here but when you're reading for someone's fs/soulmate, how do you know you're channeling a real person?

like for example celebrity readings, there's so many about jk and his person, and very much all of them say that they are like a dream come true for him, they're everything he ever wanted and everything he ever needed and it's a match made in heaven, all the good stuff.

but i see the same about other celebs too? ofc not always put in such a dreamy fairytale way but you get me. and even other people in general, i myself always get the answer that describes what i want in pick a card readings.

so how do you the readers know that the energies you're connecting with come from a real human person that exists out there, and not just someone's idealization of what they want/what they imagine when they think of having a soulmate/spouse?

Personally, this is the kind of things that also guided me towards not doing FS readings on celebrities. See, when I do personal FS readings, sometimes it is not a single person that comes out. Sometimes it is an ideal type, or a traits that would present in the people they are compatible with, or traits many of their future partners will have, so the one they choose to marry will also have. Types feel more "limited" than human beings usually, like reading on a full human leads to finding contradictions, the human having certain moods which can affect readings etc. It gets messier. Types are less multidimensional, at least to me.

When I do soulmates readings however, i can "see" in the 5D the cord tying them together. I can choose which cord to explore or i follow the ones i am being told to follow.

The celebrities' maturity and position can also play a role in what comes out in a reading. JK has always deeply believed in being fated to one person, so I guess he knows it from his intuition, but he's also rich, famous, handsome and kind, so easily the ideal type of plenty of people and visible to many people, so we could assume that in a way, it could make dating easier for him. I'm not sure if that makes sense lol. What I mean is your dating pool can be opened or limited by your environment, and in a celebrity's case i think it would be logical to assume it is easier to find the kind of person you are looking for in a lot of cases.

Under the cover of darkness, close to midnight, did Mari leave to meet Wonder Woman.

When Marinette arrived at the Justice League headquarters in France she was met with not one, not two, but three Amazonians.

"Queen Hippolyta, it’s wonderful to see you once again." She greeted.

"As well as you, little bug." Came the Queen‘s response.

Marinette de-transformed and then they started the conversation.

They discussed how they would proceed with the miraculous threat and how to retrieve all the miraculous without causing irreparable harm. Because the thought is that whoever this Hawkmoth is, he was no chosen of a Kwamii. Meaning there will be consequences, and even though his actions are not ones they condone or support. That doesn’t mean they are cruel enough to let this person be harmed by their own stupidity.

Yes the miraculous give blessings to their holders, but only if they are the right holder, with the right jewel. As each time a miraculous is used, the holder quite literally channels the kwamii's power. The more compatible, to the kwamii, a.k.a. a true chosen, the person is able to use the powers of the miraculous safer and easier. The opposite is also true, and incompatible person will be hurt to the point of damaging themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and even damage their souls.

Which is why they also had to find this guardian to see about taking back the miraculous of the cat.

Which brings us to the reason why there’s three Amazonian‘s currently in front of her in Europe.

Wonder Woman, because yes she is Marinette's teacher of sorts within the Justice League.

Queen Hippolyta, for being a past ladybug, and also because it would be wise to seek out the Guardian.

And finally Artemis who was tasked with finding the guardian to discuss how this threat will be eliminated.

After a bit a back-and-forth Diana decided that she would have to head back, and so did Hippolyta. Artemis had decided to start the search halfway through the conversation and had left.

Now that she was alone, she knew there was another person she needed to meet with. So, she re-transformed and checked her yo-yo.

Luckily there he was transformed and roaming the city. With a quick text of directions, she was off. It took less than 10 minutes to arrive, seeing as he was already there.

Before she said a word, with a practiced motion, she drew one of her escrima sticks. And proceeded to draw a spell glyph in the air. Resulting in a protective box inside the bell story.

"Thank you for coming Chat Noir."

"Is there something you need to discuss?"

"Yeah… there is." She took a breath to steady herself.

"Are you planning on sharing our identities?" He wiggled his eyebrows, she assumes.

"No, I wasn't." She saw him deflate. "Did you receive your miraculous from the guardian?" She started to question.

"Yeah… " He seemed to think but almost like he wasn’t sure, figures, seeing that he was rubbing the back of his neck.

"You don’t actually know." It wasn’t a question but a statement.

"Sorry." He shook his head.

"No, it’s fine. Artemis can find him, and Hippolyta will know what to do." She hung her head and whispered to herself ever so slightly.

"Was that all you wanted?" He stepped towards her, but she stepped back.

She shook her head in response. "Did your kwamii... did Plagg tell you..."

"How the black cat and ladybug are soulmates meaning you and I are Soulmates. Oh what do you think our soul mark is. I haven't noticed anything different have you?" He spoke without taking a breath, waiting for her answer.

"Sorry, but you aren't my cat." She shook her head.

"What?!"

"You and I aren't soulmates." She stepped forward, taking his hands in hers. The certainty in her voice caused him to freeze.

"Does this mean I'm not a hero." His voice and ears dropped; his head bowed sadly.

"No." Her voice was steady, no hesitation in her voice or posture. "You are a hero. Your actions so far prove that."

"But I'm not your cat."

"No, but you are a chosen."

"How could you know that for sure?"

He looked at her sadly as if he didn’t believe a single thing. A small small part of her understood that whatever he was feeling was because of something in his personal life made it so.

That the love and attention he got was conditional. It broke Mari's heart but also, she understood. She remembers before Papa, Uncle B, her brothers, before Damian, the love she received in Paris was conditional. She also knew Damian would understand because of the League's similar conditions.

She had to shake her head before she could spiral. "I know you are. Because your soul resonates to the miraculous. It just isn't that of the black cat. But..."

"LB. you should give this to your soulmate." He didn't let her argue, he dropped the transformation. "You are Ladybug and I am not your cat."

He took off the ring, grabbed her hand and placed the ring into her palm. "I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time."

There in front of her stood a blond-haired boy, his eyes closed, with a sad, defeated look on his face, and a say in his shoulders.

"You didn’t."

She grabbed the blonde haired boy’s wrist.

Marinette was going to drop her transformation, but call it intuition or maybe this was cosmic interference, so she didn’t. "Please, keep the ring until my cat can take your role. But you have helped so much, please continue being a hero."

"You're just saying that. You don’t know me." He mumbled barely audible. If it weren’t for her enhanced sense and close proximity, she would have missed it.

"Hey kid." Mari heard a new voice drawl. "Adrien."

The boy looked up and noticed the black kwamii floating in front between the two of them. "Plagg?"

"You might not have been my kitten, but you are a hero. And I’ve seen my fair share of them." Plagg responded as a matter of fact.

"Adrien." She repeated the name, drawing his attention. "Plagg is right. Heroes are more than just being chosen by a miraculous, artifact, or powers. It's what they choose to do with that power. You have a heart of a hero, so please don’t lose faith so easily."

She took the ring that was placed in her hand, grabbed his wrist, and pushed the ring of the black cat in his palm. "Fight with me for the time being."

"I..." She didn't let him answer. She turned and swung away from the tower.

"Are you putting the ring back on or what kid?" Plagg's voice snapped him from his racing mind.

"Yeah." He re-transformed and went home. The next morning he was resolved to go to school. Natalie and Gorilla caught him at the gate, but let him go in.

He made his way to the homeroom. When he stepped in everyone went quiet before he was tackled by Chloe.

"Adrikins!" She clung to his neck as he tried to regain his balance. "There's an open seat here in front of me!"

she led him to a front desk. "Thanks, Clo."

Was all he could say before the blonde next to him shouted. "What are you doing in my seat!?"

"The only thing needed for the triumph of evil, is for good people to do nothing." A bespeckled girl sitting behind him sat resolved.

"Get..." Chloe started but was cut off.

"Here-Here," A girl with blue hair, dyed at the ends responded, causing the entire classroom to watch her. But she didn't look up from her tablet.

"You're supposed to be on my side, Mer!" She stomped.

"And outburst like this is why everyone thinks you're a brat, Goldie."

"I have high standards." Chloe argued back.

"And you can still have them in the empty row up front." the girl pointed forward without looking up.

"I hate when you use that logic." Chloe grumbled but moved seats.

Adrien couldn't believe it. Someone could actually reign in Chloe.

"Hi, name's Nino." The boy sharing his bench introduced himself, snapping him out of his trance.

"Adrien." He greeted.

"I have to ask are you really friends with Chloe?" Nino asked.

"She's my only friend." He shrugged.

"Well now you have two." Nino pointed to himself.

"I'd like that." Adrien smiled.

"So, you don't know Marinette?" Nino brought up.

"Who?"

Nino pointed at the bluenette in the back who was still absorbed in the tablet. "she's apparently also Chloe's childhood friend."

"Really?" Adrien didn't recognize her.

"Apparently she just came back to Paris." Nino informed. "She seems nice enough, she's just blunt. We all don't know her well though."

"I heard she moved because of bullying?" A brown-haired girl behind him piped in.

"Really gurl." The bespeckled girl popped in. "You’re in the know Lila, spill."

The two girls behind him started talking, but his attention was on the girl sitting in the back of the class.

The whole day he tried to talk to her, but someone kept him. Be it Nino, unknowingly, Chloe demanding his attention, or her disappearing.

Then he saw her.

They were the last two in the school. It was almost like his luck started to turn. She was standing by the entrance, just before stepping out in the rain. She was on the phone. It took him a moment to realize she wasn't speaking French, but english.

So, he quickly hid behind a trash can while in earshot.

"I know I should've..." He doesn't think she noticed him.

'...' The other person must've said something, as she pursed her lips.

"That would've crushed them!"

'...'

"I know... but."

'...'

'Sigh.' "Why don't we talk later." She breathed. "The walls have ears after all." She looked directly at him.

She knew he was there; did she know the whole time.

"No need, I'm already here." A boy with black hair came running in the rain.

"You're soaked!" She hit him with her umbrella.

"Sorry." the looked down and opened his own umbrella. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop." He held out the umbrella to the boy.

He hesitated before taking it.

Thunder clapped.

Adrien ran out to the waiting car.

He might not have talked to her, he might not have made the best impression, but he hopes that it's a start. He smiled down at his hands. Barely catching a glimpse of the golden ink that was sinking back into his skin.

ohh boy they both would have laughed until they frew up. neither of them had any intentions of involving real feelings, ESPECIALLY not roman (who on some level believed he was incapable of doing All That, anyway). not to mention the fact that this guy is just some hot topic employee lookin' loser who smells like cigarettes and is covered in cat hair. aaron also would find such a thing ridiculous bc what could He possibly have in common/compatible with a top 0.1% billionaire nepo baby?? eat the rich!!!! (nevertheless he is eventually bewitched. pussy and soul <3 against his better judgement and moral compass)

Who’s the big and little spoon?

ooooh aaron is the big spoon for sure! he's got like 6 inches of height on roman so its only natural.

Who worries the most?

both of these men r some of the most anxious ppl alive. in general. roman has more of a 'creeping dread' style of worrying where he always has like big picture stuff in the back of his mind (family shit, unresolved trauma) that he is constantly trying to beat back with a stick and simultaneously pretend doesn't bother him. aaron is a much more active worrier (ocd king <3) and is always mindflooded w things he literally made up (what if this coffee is poison, what i left the oven on, what if a brick fell off of a building killing roman instantly, what if i hit someone with my car a mile back and didnt notice, etc).

so. both. but in different ways.

Who takes the lead in social situations?

they fight like deer bashing their antlers together. over who is the most Funny Cool Guy in any social situation. idk if anyone is in to mbti types but when u get an ENTP and an ENFP in the same room and they want to impress each other + a crowd. the devil laughs. on a smaller scale, aaron loooves to try and be all chivalrous and like. order cocktails for him and stuff. but roman wants to do the same for aaron. so they just like. talk over each other at the poor waitstaff.

Who gets jealous easier?

aaron is a horrible jealous beast. he's wretched. if he saw stewy chatting up roman even One Time he would go back to his own house and get his witchy bff to cast evil spells on stewy. he's insane. roman is also jealous, a bit more passively (except for that one scene in 1x04 w the waiter i think he can be insane at times as well) but he's a little more mopey about it. just staring with big sad wet eyes when he thinks someone is eating up more of aarons attention.

this is another thing that REALLY bothers me: the "if you dont like it just leave" thing

that ignores so much about the relationships we have with each other to a degree that to me is really shocking? for people who spend so much time online and most of their friendships are thru the screen?

like. listen. i do not have many friends in meatspace, at all. never really did. i was a quiet and shy kid and i was bullied and didnt really have a lot of people to turn to. it is so much easier for me to make friends online. i met my soulmate thru a screen. the relationships i form online are very, very real to me.

and idve thought flora and especially glip would understand that?

i expressed a lot during my time there how much isolation hurt me. like there was no ambiguity there: it was how people had harmed me, it was a method i used to harm myself, and its how i ended up causing harm to others. so when my friends create this space and it turns out im not compatible with it, the idea of "just leaving" is devastating. its that same trauma all over again.

of course i didnt want to leave! i wanted so badly to make it work that i threw myself in way too deep and ended up causing a lot of pain, because i didnt want to lose all of them, because i loved so many of them. thats why i was always so scared that "if it came down to it theyd choose glip over me". thats not a fair thought but it comes from trauma. it comes from the isolation id been subjected to time and again.

so. no. its not as easy as "just leaving". not if you actually care about people.
