Hi Lovely,
I don’t know if your requests are open but I thought I’d try my luck. My cat died today and I’m really upset, I was hoping you could do hurt/comfort hcs with Jason (and maybe platonic Damian as he’s the big animal lover)?
Thank you x
Hey im so sorry for your loss man. even the dog in my dp has now passed away and he was my baby and I get how painful it is. I still miss him everyday and refuse to have any account picture without him . Just really take the time to heal and don't let any idiot tell you that yourent supposed to feel sad about a pet passing because honestly I loved my pet more than my brother and I'm sure that cat was loved and lived a great life.
Also my requests are always open I love writing them
Jason Todd x reader x platonic damian- When your cat dies
comfort, angst
It was expected almost, they were just so old and the visits to the vet had become more frequent. It seemed like they was in pain, and that hurt you so much that you wondered if maybe it was for the best. But your heart didn't let you accept that, they were your baby and you cant just accept loosing them like that.
So there you sat , on the sofa, clutching Jason while you sobbed. He sat silently, holding you to him firmly. He had already texted Bruce / militia saying he wont be In that night or as longs as you needed.
Jason isnt the best at comforting words , but there are no words to be said. What jason is good at though is validating your feelings. Even though he has limited interactions with your cat, he could see how deeply you cared for it.
So when your tears start to dry and you pull away from his chest he gently rubs away the remaining tears. He picks you up and carries you to the kitchen counter. Sets a pot of boiling water to make your favorite noodles/ tea depending on when you last ate. He then walks to the freezer and holds an ice pack in his hands . After a couple second he places his cold hands on your poofy tear stained cheeks .
"Im sorry to have burdened you, you dont cry when you've been shot and here I am crying over some cat . You don't have to stay, you must think Im so weak" you say softly feelings the tears starting to well up from the gentle way jason's treating you.
" No No I will hear none of that. How dare you think you are weak. I admit I don't know how to comfort you ..i never really got attached to a lot of things. But I love this about you, the way you love so much and so unconditionally. And the way you hurt for someone ..that's the real show of love. If the roles were switched, would you think I'm a burden? no right? So why would you assume I would? i want to be here for you, whatever you need whenever you need."
" you are doing really well so far"
the doorbell rings and Jason goes to open it.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE DEVIL SPAWN"
"Shut it todd, I'm here to see y/n."
"And why should I let you see her?"
"Because I know her cat died and I know you are incapable of comforting her since you have never felt an ounce of love for anything"
"I LOVE Y/N?? ALSO HOW WOULD YOU KNOW THAT- wait you hacked something didn't you?"
"Bruce informed me you would be staying in tonight andI have trackers placed on you and y/n and saw you driving to and from the vet , also Y/n hadn't logged into her work account. Even you would have been able to deduce that y/n needs me right now" says Damian matter of factly.
"dont be rude todd, let dami in" you say getting off the kitchen counter. You go over to shake dami's hand but he pulls you into a hug. You and todd exchange confused glances.
" I apologize for your loss y/n, if anything happened to my pets I would stab todd and then burn down a civilization" Dami's voice muffled from your clothes.
"WHY STAB ME"
"because you probably had something to do with it, You are very affection hungry when it comes to y/n"
"WHA-" "I agree with dami" "WHa-is that a backpack Demon spawn?"
"Yes , i will be spending the night here watching some "feel-good movies as she says it with y/n, I cant leave her in the hands of a barbarian now can I"
"I WAS TAKING CARE OF HER JUST FINE" shouts jason mock angrily, after all he understands how Damian and Y/n share a bond when it comes to their pets.
"Be happy I didnt tell the rest of the bats todd" " thank god for that"
You pull Dami in and fall asleep cuddled between your two amazing and caring boys, knowing that your cat was loved and spent their last moments knowing there were people in this world who will cry once they leave.
I hope this was okay , there weren't A lot of headcanons ..

To Be Friends
I’ve exaggerated some of Nancy’s negative character traits slightly in this story, but it’s also for the sake of her developing past them.
Robin usually sits alone, as sad as that is. It’s whatever; she’s comfortable with it. She can usually get some reading done without any interruptions. But it’s the first day back at school since they took down Vecna, and she’s pleasantly surprised when Nancy sits across from her. They smile at each other, a little stiff without a common goal they’re trying to work for.
“You packed a lunch today,” Nancy states awkwardly.
“Actually Steve made this for me. He always dotes more after, uh… notable events. Sometimes it’s just a particularly bad nightmare. One time Dustin popped a bike tire and Steve bought him a helmet after it was fixed. He gets spikes in paranoia when he’s reminded how easily things can go wrong.”
“That does sound like him. You should try dating him.”
Robin’s eyebrows furrow in confusion. “Is that a real suggestion?”
“Oh! No, I just mean that he doted on me all the time when he was dating me.”
“Yeah, he’s a real sap.”
There’s a lull in the conversation before Nancy speaks up again. “It is surprising you aren’t a couple. You’re both very attractive.”
“Uh… so? I mean, thank you? I mean… I’m not interested. He’s not my type.”
Nancy hums. “Don’t worry. I understand.”
“You… do?”
“I actually have dated Steve. It probably would have been smarter to be friends first. You’re smart that way.”
“... Thank you?”
“Yeah. I mean, I’m sure you’re well aware of the bullet you dodged.”
Robin chuckles uncomfortably. “Maybe? I guess that depends on what exactly you’re referring to.”
“You said yourself he tends to dote. It’s so much more extreme when he’s dating you. I don’t need to use his jacket for the one minute walk from the school to the car. I don’t need him opening doors for me. I can do that myself.”
“Uh-huh…” Robin says, trying to keep her eyes from squinting.
“And he gets so clingy. And emotional. I swear sometimes it was more like he wanted me to be his mom than his girlfriend, which is honestly so privileged. He cut off his friends for me, so it became my job to comfort him about it?”
“He was friends with them for a long time, and he didn’t have anyone else to talk to about it. He’d kind of just cut off all his other friends,” she tries to joke.
“They were assholes,” Nancy says, maintaining seriousness. “He shouldn’t have been so caught up on them.”
“If he didn’t realize just how shitty they were until you, then he must have had a lot of good experiences with them too. A lot to be conflicted about.” She knows this is the case, because Steve’s talked to her about it too.
“He shouldn’t have been friends with them in the first place.”
“So why did you date Steve for so long? Like a year, right? If he was such a shitty boyfriend? You shouldn’t have been dating in the first place?”
“That’s different.”
“How?”
“Because Steve was popular. Everyone loves him, but the only other person I thought might want me was too preoccupied to look at me. I waited a month with nothing. Can you really blame me for wanting to feel wanted and liked after my best friend died?”
“No, but I can blame you for using that as your excuse while apparently hating anything he did because he wanted and liked you. You literally started your complaints about how doting he can be.”
“What, like you don’t think it’s annoying?” And Robin knows what she means by that, but ‘annoying’ would never be the word she would use to describe it. Just… overwhelming sometimes. But understandable. “Besides, that was more of a pet peeve. You were the one who brought that up. There’s a reason I moved my complaints to him crying over his positive choices.”
And that startles Robin a bit. “He actually cried over it?”
Nancy rolls her eyes. “It was a hyperbolic idiom. But my point remains. Everyone loves him, but he was just upset that those two assholes didn’t anymore.”
“If everyone loves him why did no one turn up?”
“I’m sorry?”
“You say everyone loves him like he could have anyone, but you were all he had after Tommy and Carol immediately turned on him for pushing back one time.”
“You know what, that’s another thing. Why even be upset that someone who was willing to turn on you that quickly, did?”
“Well under that logic Steve should hate you then, shouldn’t he?”
“Oh, is that what this is about? Fine, go shoot your shot. I’m sure he’d love to have you. But don’t come crawling to me when he becomes too much for you.” With that she gets up from the table and sits at a newly vacant table.
Robin’s never ditched school before, but now she wants nothing more than to bike over to family video and hug her favorite person.
↞⬡+¤+⬡↠
She manages to talk herself out of skipping. She only had 2 and a half hours of school left after lunch, and none of the classes left were her best. Steve would take his break to pick her up anyway, so why put in the effort to bike all of the way there? Still, she has such a hard time concentrating on the last classes.
When she finally gets out, Steve is already parked in his usual spot, and she plops down into the seat.
“Bad day?” Steve asks.
“You know how you were hoping we could have some kind of outing with Nancy and Jonathan before the latter has to go back to California?”
“Yeah?”
“Scratch that. We’re not doing it.”
“What happened?”
She hesitates. She doesn’t want to be the one to tell him, but she also isn’t going to keep this from him. “Nancy told me that she didn’t like dating you, basically.”
“Oh, yeah, I know that.”
“And what, you're just ok with hanging out with her now?”
“I mean, it’s not her fault. She tried to like it. It’s not her fault she didn’t.”
“But it is her fault for not telling you how she felt about it. Let you think everything was fine. That’s leading you on.”
Steve shrugs. “It’s not like she was trying to do that. And it’s not like hanging out with her now would involve any kind of hope that we’d get back together. She didn’t like me as a boyfriend, but we can still be friends.”
“How do you know she likes you as a friend? If she lied to you about liking you as a boyfriend.”
“We should get to work before my break is up,” he says, putting the car into gear.
They don’t talk about it after that. They don’t talk much at all for the rest of the day.
↞⬡+¤+⬡↠
Robin doesn’t eat lunch in the cafeteria after that, not wanting to deal with Nancy again. She doesn’t necessarily know that Nancy would try to start up that conversation again, but even just seeing her in the hall sours her mood a bit, so she doesn’t need to be dealing with that.
So she’s sitting in an empty classroom eating lunch when Nancy finds her.
“You’ve been avoiding me.”
Robin glares. “Is this not mutually beneficial?”
Nancy sighs. “Look,” she starts as she sits in the seat beside Robin, “I’m not great at taking criticism. I’m a very defensive person. I’m not good at admitting when I’m wrong, but… I was, so…”
“So…” Robin prompts.
“So you were right. I just… needed to sit on all the points for a while before I could calm down enough to actually consider them.”
“Ok. But what are you going to do about it?”
“I’m… apologizing?”
“For what?”
Nancy rolls her eyes, but answers anyway. “For snapping at you, and not listening to what you were trying to tell me.”
“Ok. So what about Steve?”
“What about him?”
“Are you going to apologize to him too?”
“For fighting with you?” She lets out a confused breathy laugh. “I know you guys are close but is that necessary?”
“Are you serious right now?”
Nancy blinks a few times before jolting a little. “Oh! I was too focused on- yeah, I should. It’s just been so long I wasn’t even thinking about it.”
“Do you want to be friends with Steve?”
“What do you mean?”
“He still respects you, and wants to reconnect after… everything. I don’t want you to let him drag you to hang outs because it’s easier than denying a simple request, then blowing up at him about it later. Again. I don’t know if he’d come back from it a second time.”
“I honestly don’t know,” Nancy sighs. “If I want to be friends with him. I feel like… he carries an association… The whole year I was with him I was in mourning, and we only reconnected recently because of, as you worded it, ‘recent events.’ I just… every time I’ve been with him in one way or another… something bad was going on. I feel like being friends with him would just leave me on edge all the time.”
“Make sure he knows that then.” She picks up her now empty lunch tray and moves to leave the room.
“Wait, Robin!”
“Yeah?” she stops by the doorway.
“Can we still be friends?”
“I don’t know… But we can be more than not friends.”
“Yeah… I’d want to be more than ‘not friends’ with Steve too.”
“Make sure he knows.”
“Yeah…”
We never really see how Nancy responds to being wrong, because she’s never written to be. My headcanon for how she responds to it is that she gets really pissed, but after sitting on it for a long time she has a hard time denying when there’s an imbalance. She’s logical enough to know what’s right, but she’s stubborn, and bias towards her own perspective, so things like this do need to get pointed out to her and it takes her a while to come around.

In honor of Salvage Ch. 18, I have prepared the first chapter of my Phoenix Salvage AU. @muffinlance , there’s one scene that’s 100% an improvement in my overall writing structure I pulled from you, and I bet NOBODY can tell which one it is.
—————————
The young soldier must have somehow heard the blade coming. He didn’t have time to cry out, but the panic stains his face. Not quite the easy death Hakoda wanted, but unavoidable, and still far kinder than leaving him to the sea.
Two years of fighting had left many too-young Fire Nation soldiers dead on this deck, but this was different than a battle. Different even than a mercy kill, back when they thought maybe Fire Nation prisoners would simply accept a fate other than death.
The soldier wouldn’t have left them any choice in the end. But he hadn’t forced their hands. Not yet.
One of the men murmured a prayer, a simple benediction for the journey to the next life. This wasn’t the clean up after a battle, and there might not Fire elders speaking rites for the kid somewhere across the sea. The soldier might only have what they give him, and they're pragmatic people- not cruel.
The Fire Nation burns their dead. That would be kindest, but if they could safely build a pyre, then they could have safely kept a firebending prisoner. The young soldier have a sea burial.
The corpse vetoed this. Violently.
Akake and Tuluk yelped, dropping the suddenly burning body onto the wooden deck.
Fire shouldn’t be green and purple, Hakoda barely had to think, and the fire disappeared. He blinked the sparks out of his eyes, and the deck was as clear. No fire, purple-green or otherwise. Just a vaguely soldier shaped mound of ash.
Hakoda reached down to touch it: barely warm, and not so much as a soot mark beneath it.
Something stirred. Something tiny. Hakoda grabbed it without giving himself time to think about it. Whatever it was squirmed frantically in his hand.
Hakoda looked down, expecting- something. A still beating heart, perhaps. A reptile or worm, at the very least. Something repulsive and macabre. But a tiny, down-feathered bird trembled in his hand. He brushed ash off of soft, orange wings. Even filthy, the fledgling glowed like sunrise.
“It’s a bird,” Hakoda said, dumbfounded.
“A bird,” Tuluk repeated.
The bird cheeped in distress. Hakoda started to pet it, but it nearly fell to the deck in its effort to escape his hand. He quickly cupped it with both hands instead. The bird pecked at his fingers.
The entire deck stared in stunned silence. What were they supposed to do with a bird?
————————
Tolko presented a box hastily stuffed with hay from the albatross-pidgeon coop. Hakoda carefully dropped the chick inside. It burrowed down into the loose “nest,” still cheeping incessantly.
“He’s so cute,” Tolko gasped. “What are we going to do with him?”
Tolko stared at the bird with love already in his eyes. The bird stared back with… suspicion. At the very least.
Hakoda’s temples begun a warning throb.
“Ask Kustaa if he can… find anything,” he finally said.
Tolko cooed at the bird as he walked away.
Hakoda felt a dreadful portent hum in his bones: this would not end well, and there was absolutely nothing he could do to stop it.
------
“What is that?” Kustaa asked.
“A bird,” Tolko said. And held the chick up to Kustaa’s face, as if not seeing the puffball was the problem.
“Which might also be a Fire Nation soldier. The Chief wants to know if you can find anything.”
“A soldier.”
“Yeah. He was drifting past, we fished him out, but he was. You know. A Fire Nation soldier. And he said he was a firebender. So.”
“So what?”
“He kind of...died. And spontaneously combusted. The bird was in the ashes. See?”
Tolko brushed the bird’s head and held up a sooty finger. The chick couldn’t really floof in anger- it was already at maximum floof- but it gave its best impression of outrage anyway. Tolko hastily placed it on the table before it could tumble out of his hand.
“This is a bird,” Kustaa said. “I’m a healer, not an ornithologist. Or a shaman. All I’m qualified to say whether or not YOU have brain rot.”
“Umm…” Tolko mumbled.
“Any headaches? Blurred vision? Acute pain in your arms or legs? Motor difficulties?” Kustaa asked as he prodded Tolko’s arms.
“No?”
“Then we’ll work with the assumption that Spirits were involved, not Swamp Fever. Hopefully, a minor Spirit.”
Kustaa leaned down in front of the bird.
“Can you understand us: peck two times, then three.”
Low and behold, the bird did… then stared at them and pecked a deliberate pattern of some sort.
“I don’t understand that,” Kustaa said.
A storm of outraged peeping.
“I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do about it. Are you a Spirit, one peck for yes, two pecks for no.”
Two pecks, and more outraged peeping.
“...Are you a bird?”
In hindsight, it was incredibly bold of them to assume Zuko knew more than they did about anything.
--------
Tuluk entered Hakoda’s office after a single knock, and Hakoda’s temples immediately resumed pounding.
“Apparently, the bird insists he is the soldier, and NOT a Spirit,” Tuluk said.
Hakoda pinched the bridge of his nose. And resolved to make an offering soon. There were stories about shapeshifting Spirits who forgot they weren’t human.
“Keep an eye on him,” Hakoda said. “We’ll head to the nearest port and find an Earth Sage. This is exactly the kind of trouble we don’t need.”
Tuluk nodded grimly.
A thought struck Hakoda. “How did…?”
Tuluk sighed. “Lots of questions. Lots of patience. Kustaa is positively charmed with the little menace.”
“He’s a bird.”
“A mean one,” Tuluk agreed. “But he’s warmed to Kustaa and Tolko, for stars knows why.”
Hakoda didn’t like the idea of a Spirit getting… attached to his crew, but he liked the idea of an upset Spirit on his ship even less.
“Keep an eye on them, please,” Hakoda said.
Tuluk nodded, understanding in his eyes.
“I’ll do my best, but that’s a conversation you need to have with Kustaa and Tolko. Probably the rest of the crew, too.”
Hakoda’s headache sharpened with knife-like intensity. Tuluk eyed him with concern.
“Chief. Nobody will blame you if you need a drink before that. Kustaa’s almost ordered a shipwide medicinal order.”
Hakoda sighed.
“After,” he promised. And didn’t clarify after what.
—————————-
Their youngest crewman tucked the surly creature into his parka, from where it eyed everyone and everything with deep suspicion. Tolko kept up a mostly one-sided commentary, which the soldier-bird seemed surprisingly engaged with.
“Do you know his name?” Punuk asked as Tolko showed the bird their snack break offerings.
“No,” Tolko said through a mouthful of salted fish. “It’s the character for ‘righteous rule,’ but we couldn’t figure out the pronunciation. So Birdie it is.”
“Birdie” cheeped aggressively enough to attract the other crewmen’s attention for the first time in hours. There was still work to be done, and his constant noise quickly faded into the background.
“That’s terrible. How about… Sparky? Ember?”
“Blaze.”
“Inferno.”
“Red.”
“You can’t call him red, he’s pink.”
“He’s definitely more orange than pink.”
“Orange still isn’t red.”
Ragnalok tossed an empty water skin at the pair.
“Stop torturing the poor guy. He already died once today.”
The trio went quiet.
“Way too soon, man,” Panuk said.
Birdie was… worryingly quiet for several hours after that.
-------
Tolko roused in the middle of the night, awakened by a faint stirring of downy feathers and soft cooing. Birdy was awake. Tolko couldn’t see it, but dawn must be on the horizon.
Birds liked dawn. So did firebenders, presumably. It was early, but Tolko wasn’t tired-tired, so…
Tolko scooped Birdy up in one hand and slid out of his hammock. “We’ll go top deck,” he whispered as he tucked Birdy into his collar.
Birdy cheeped in a maybe grumpy, maybe affirmative way. But it was soft, so Tolko didn’t think he was upset. Birdy was very, very good at communicating when he was upset, bird or not.
It still seemed uncharacteristic. And Birdy was slumping on Tolko’s shoulder in a way he hadn’t yesterday.
Tolko scooped Birdy back into his hand, and Birdy just… cheeped quietly. Cheeped once and fell silent.
Okay. It was early: Birdy might just be tired. It was a Thing, that birds got sleepy when it was dark- even if it wasn’t actually night. They’d go topdeck and watch the sunrise, and if Birdie still seemed off he’d come back and wake Kustaa.
Tolko climbed the last stair just as the sun broke free of the horizon. Birdie chirped softly again, and Tolko held him out into the light.
“It’s beautiful,” Tolko said.
And Birdie once again caught fire on the Spirits damned deck.

Let the Right One In
Tumblr media
A/N: So this is for @boldlyvoid 's challenge. I had so much fun writing this. Even though I'm still super anxious about posting my stories. It's been a pleasure and an honor getting to know you Em. Congratulations on reaching 2k! 🖤
Warning: Mentions of insecurities. Maeve Donovan. Faking a death.
Word count: 2,082
It was midday when I heard knocking on the front door. I was half tempted not to answer. Spencer was away on a case and neither him nor I were expecting anyone. Anyone that would come over at all was away on the case with him or states over. So who could be coming over unannounced? I clumsily headed towards the door. My fuzzy socks are making it difficult to stay balanced on the hardwood floor. A knock came again. It was gentler this time.
I looked through the peephole and saw a small woman looking around nervously leaning from foot to foot. “Who is it?” I wondered if I could at least get a name.
“I’m here to see Doctor Spencer Reid. I got his address from Aaron Hotchner.”
My face blanched at the sound of Hotch’s name. It had been quite some time since anyone had mentioned him. After he went into protective custody with Jack even though the reaper was dead he still chose to stay away. Contact with him was rare and slim. I quickly opened the door and watched her jump back slightly.
“Who are you?” she asked. She looked around the same age as him. She is actually quite beautiful. I wonder how Spencer knows her?
“ I’m Y/n Reid.” She tilted her head to the side as she studied me.
“I didn’t realize Spencer had a sister.” She finally met my gaze and smiled.
“Is he here or do I need to come back at another time?” A small laugh escaped me
“No, I am not his sister. I am his wife.” I crossed my arms over my chest and locked my foot in place behind the door keeping it only slightly ajar not letting her see into our home.
Her face shifted to one of slight surprise. “Oh well I better just go then.” She went to turn away. When a thought crossed my mind.
“Wait, I can call him if you’d like and let him know you are looking for him. What’s your name?” I was wondering whether this was a good idea or not to even call him but i had already offered and i am already in far too deep to turn back now.
She stopped not turning to face me again. “My name is Maeve. Maeve Donovan.”
Maeve. Why did I know that name? Why is my brain going off with alarm bells? But why do I know that name? I watched as she vanished from the hallway down the flight of stairs never turning back around to look at me.
I slammed the door shut as I racked my brain on if I should mention this to Spencer at all. Especially while he is away on a case. Maybe I should wait until he gets home. He should be home later tonight. At least if the weather was alright over in New Hampshire. He had left me a message earlier this morning to let me know the case was solved and it had started snowing there but their flight wouldn’t be ready till a little later.
He should be home in about an hour now. I will wait. I’ll definitely wait.

~
When Spencer walked through the door he looked sluggish and about ready to just collapse. The exhaustion clearly got to him from not getting enough sleep while he was away. He took off his satchel and his suit jacket. He began undoing his tie as he walked his way into our bedroom. Not even making eye contact with me.
He came back out moments later in nothing but his flannel sweatpants. “Sorry I know I should have said hello to you. I just felt like I was suffocating in my clothes today.” As he spoke he made his way to the couch where I sat at one end.
Once he sat down he leaned down and put his head in my lap. I gently started running my fingers through his hair while scratching his head.
“That feels really nice.” His voice was soft and he let out a quiet sigh as he relaxed into the couch and my lap.
If I wasn’t petting his head I was gently caressing his back with my fingertips. I know I needed to tell him. I was just so nervous. I knew somewhere deep down this would be stressful to him. The day already has worn him out so completely. It was like he needed my touch to recharge himself. I began biting my lip as my hand stopped on his lower back.
“Hey, Spence, A woman came by to see you today. She said she got your address from Aaron.” He made a humming noise to let me know that he heard me. “Her name was Maeve Donovan.” I felt his back muscles tense at the sound of her name. He sat up immediately.
“Wh- what did you say?” He looked at me as if I had just grown an extra head or as if I had just spoken another language.  “Mae-” He cut me off. “No, I heard what you said. I don’t need you to repeat yourself. It’s not possible she was at the door. She is dead. She’s been dead for years.”
He pushed himself up off the couch, the muscles in his arms flexing more than usual. He was more tense than I have seen him in a long time. The last time I saw him this upset or stressed was when he first came back from prison. We were just dating back then.
“I am going to go call Hotch.” he moved quickly to grab his phone when he finally reached it. It began to ring. He looked at it for a couple of seconds before he answered.
“Hello?” His eyes widened slightly. I watched as he clenched his jaw and tears brimmed his eyes.
“M-m-maeve?” He leaned himself back against the wall. His breathing became irregular as he slid himself down the cold panel. At the same time I saw a couple of tears leave his eyes.
I sucked in a breath and sighed. Was this going to be the end of us? Now that all the stories Spencer told me of her came back once he said that she was dead.
She was his first love after all. It would only make sense right?
====Spencer’s Pov=====
My vision was blurred beyond recognition. I could hear my blood pumping in my ears as the sound of her voice drifted in and out. This isn’t real. It’s not possible. I watched her die. I saw her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. I mourned her. It’s been years. Nearly a decade.
“Spencer? Can you hear me?” I felt my tears stream down my face, nodding as if she could see me.
“Yeah, Yeah I can hear you.” My voice cracked as I answered her.
“Just like old times huh? It’s so nice to hear your voice. I’ve missed you.” My breath hitched at her words.
I felt my heart hammer in my chest. I glanced up to see if I could find my wife. She was watching me with concern but otherwise she hadn’t moved not yet. All the guards Y/n had torn down throughout the years started building themselves up higher and higher.
"H-how are you alive? I watched you die." The horrible memories of that fatal day still haunted me. What am I supposed to do now?
Do I still have feelings for her? Is it wrong if I do? I don't know how to handle this. What should I do?
"That's why I came to see you earlier.  It was an idea that I came up with at the last minute.  So I faked my death." Her voice was calmer than my breathing.  I felt the walls Barricading around me to keep me safe. I was suffocating.
I wasn't sure I had heard her right. I could feel my ears ringing as the blood in me ran cold.
"You faked your death and made me believe for a decade that the first person I ever loved died a brutal death because you wanted a new life?" My tone was harsher than I anticipated.
I felt my wife's hands run through my hair in a comforting manner as she lowered herself to the floor with me.
I glanced at Y/n as tears streamed down my face. The memories of Maeve and my feelings for her wreaking havoc on my heart.
"Darling, I think you should hang up. For now anyway." She whispered it as her hand lowered to the back of my neck giving me a gentle message.
My back stiffened. I was so caught up in my own nightmare I hadn't realized that this is probably a living one for her.
"Spencer. I can expla-" I cut off the call before she could even finish her sentence.  Y/n was right.
"You have a lot you need to process and I'm sure you didn't want to say anything you would regret. I'm sorry if I've overstepped." She looked a little nervous as if I was gonna snap at her the way I had Maeve
I gently grabbed the hand that was touching me and brought it up to my lips placing a kiss on it.
"Nonsense. You are my wife. You were right. I should have hung up. I just. I don't know how to explain what I was feeling." I could feel my breathing begin to slow slightly as I tried to match her breathing to get mine back to normal.
It was like my world paused for a moment and began to spiral faster than I could catch my balance. I felt air fill my lungs when I heard her voice but yet I was left gasping for oxygen.
The very thought of Maeve brought back so many things I thought I had dealt with prior to now.  I leaned my head against my wife's shoulder as I just let the tears fall.
I felt awful having her comfort me over another woman. Yet I couldn't bring myself to completely care. She was the one offering me comfort.
She held me in her arms. Whispering to me that things will be okay. That we'd figure things out.
I truly didn't deserve her. She loves me so unconditionally it's unnerving. That's when my phone went off again.
It was the same number Maeve had called me from.
I glanced at my wife. Who just watched me. That's when I fully knew and decided something that had been bothering me for over the past hour or so.
I let my phone continue to ring as I cupped her face.
"You...you make me feel special and good and all these things that I still don't have the words for yet— good things… things I never thought I deserved to feel.” I pulled her in closer letting our lips caress one another.
"I love you Spencer.  You don't need to say all of this right now. I know you are still-" She tilted her head to the side as if she were trying to figure me out.  "Cluttered and that's okay."
I kissed her harder than I've ever kissed anyone before.
"I’m not in love with her, I’m in love with you”
I have no real idea on if she needed this reassurance all I knew is that I did. I wanted her to know out loud what she meant to me. I couldn't imagine a better partner. A better lover or a better best friend than her.
I wasn't going to have her doubt everything about us. Not for anything.
I stayed close to her as my phone kept repeatedly going off until eventually it stopped. I was still figuring things out.
Knowing that Maeve was alive before I met Y/n would have changed my life completely but now? I didn't want anything to change.  For once I was happy. I had someone in my life who put me first. Who cared about me. Who wasn't afraid to hurt my feelings as long as it kept me safe. She loved me for me and all the mess in between who I have yet to become.
She saw me for me. I wasn't Doctor Spencer Reid.  I wasn't a federal agent or a professor to her. I was just Spencer.  The man for some ungodly reason she chose to love.

Pro Heros Find You Crying
Warnings: tw for body image, mentions of death of pets
Tumblr media
Yagi Toshinori/All Might
You were home, alone, when you found out. It wasn’t a particularly big issue, and it wasn’t something that someone else would necessarily care about, but to you, this was the final straw.
An actor from your childhood, someone who you watched constantly as a child, someone who, albeit from a screen, saw you grow up, passed away. You never got to even meet him in person. The closest you’ve ever gotten was him noticing your comment on a livestream of 12 other people, and smiling.
You never got to thank him. For everything he’d done for you.
Tears fell from your eyes uncontrollably, dripping from your eyelashes and dropping onto the floor, your clothes, the keyboard.
Soon, though, you felt dreaded sobs making their way from your core all the way through your vocal cords. They shook your body like an earthquake. Sobs don’t care what they break inside you. They just need to get out.
What no one else would understand about this, though, was that your tears weren’t just being spilled for the actor you never got to thank. No, these represent so much more.
Your childhood is officially gone.
Just as that actor will be grieved, buried, and will rot in the ground with dusty fake flowers above his grave, your childhood will be filled with maggots and worms.
The thing about childhoods, though, is that they still live inside you, even when they’re over.
You always found this fact a cruel one. Even now, you could feel the worms burrowing into your childhood, eating away and destroying all the memories you’ve tried so hard to keep in tact for all these years.
You sobbed for him, yes. But you were still grieving your loss as well.
Cold, bony fingers met your shoulder. You jumped, yelping at the sudden touch.
“What?! What do you want?!” you screamed. You aren’t usually this ornery, but the embarrasment of being this upset over something so menial, plus the shock of someone else being home with you, caused you to snap.
"What happened?" He gently asked. He met your seemingly angry tone with nothing but pure kindness and sympathy.
"I-I'm so sorry, Toshi...I didn't mean-"
"I know, pumpkin. I know."
He took you in his arms, pulling you towards him.
In between sobs, you explained what happened.
"oh...I see... That does sound like a lot for you to be dealing with."
He stroked your tear stained cheek.
“But...I hope you know that just because you’re older, it doesn’t mean that you’re not allowed to be a kid sometimes. You can still get excited over stuff, and cry over things that seem silly, and have wonder about new things. As long as you keep a piece of your childhood with you, you never have to say goodbye.”
Once you calmed down, he took you out for ice cream: something you haven’t done since you were barely 10 years old.
Aizawa Shouta/Eraserhead
You quickly clicked your heels into the staff restroom, closing the door behind you and shakily letting out a sigh of relief. You knew you didn’t have much time left before the tears started coming once you got that text, so you decided it’d be best for you to go ahead and have another teacher deal with your class for a few minutes while you let yourself deal with this, alone.
You re-read the text one more time. Maybe it wasn’t what you thought it was.
Y/n... I’m so sorry, but your dog was put to sleep today.
You shook your head. No, maybe she meant to say that he was taking a nap. Maybe he was still waiting for you, at home, in his little bed...
A sob escaped before you had the chance to control it as you pictured his little black and white face peacefully sleeping on his doggie bed.
You had that dog for years. He’d been there for you when no one else had, and though he couldn’t speak, you always knew he silently understood what you needed when you needed it.
Now, he was gone.
You covered your mouth, trying your best to supress the sounds of sorrow escaping your lips. Maybe, you thought, if I don’t acknowledge it, it’s not real.
But deep down, you know that’s not true.
The door to the staff bathroom begins to creak open.
“Hey, someone’s in here!” you croak out, the tears were even audible in your voice.
“Yeah, and now I’m in here too,” the teacher replied, shutting and locking the door behind him. Something you had forgotten to do.
It was Aizawa, the very teacher you had just asked to watch your students ‘for a moment’.
Before you could ask about them, he mentioned, “They’re fine. I put on a movie for em... but you, on the other hand, are certainly not.”
He took his place next to you on the dirty tile floor of the school restroom, against one wall. He handed you a tissue, noting but not mentioning the fact that you were a mess of tears, ruined makeup, and snot. You gladly accepted, blowing your nose.
Neither of you said much for a good five minutes. You forced yourself to calm down, as to not embarrass yourself in front of him, but the tears were still there, festering below the surface.
“So, what’s got you so upset?”
That little question was all it took for you to break. You tried, unsuccessfully, to say it. The three little words, “My dog died,” but no matter how much you strained, all that came out was a mess of choked up sobs.
You shakily handed him your phone. His eyes darted to the text, and he instantly understood.
Aizawa was not one for any physical touching, ever. Even though you had been dating him, he still never really enjoyed holding hands, hugging, or anything like that.
Today, however, was a totally different situation. He turned to you, opening his arms wide, gesturing for you to ‘come here’.
But you didn’t need anything more.
You did, and he silently cradled you, rubbing your hair.
Truthfully, he didn’t know exactly what to say. What could you say?
Once you began to calm down, he stroked your jaw lightly.
“What was his name?”
“...Theo.” you answered plainly.
“You loved Theo a lot, didn’t you?”
You nodded.
“You know, what’s so funny about losing a pet is that...it’s incredibly hard,” he sighed, “Even harder than losing humans.”
Aizawa continued, “It’s because we don’t have anything to gain from lying about loving them. We just do. Animals love their owners completely unconditionally, never needing any reassurance that you love them back a hundred times over. That’s not something that many humans have.”
You nodded.
“ I just hope you know that...you did your best for him. He couldn’t have ever asked for a better owner to share his life with. You did good, y/n,” he whispered. You shot him a shaky smile. Really, your heart was aching more now than ever.
“You don’t have to do all that. I know you’re not doing well, still. Please, go ahead and go home for the day. I can take on your class, no problem,” he assured.
“...can you...come over after work?” you asked. He nodded.
Taishiro Toyomitsu/Fatgum
It’s been almost a year since this pandemic began. You wonder to yourself, how long can that be an excuse for you?
You had gained weight. A lot of it. You suffer from secret binge eating, indulging yourself greedily in all your favorite comfort foods. Usually, you did this at night, which worked out even better for you, since your boyfriend usually had night watch and was not at home.
Stretch marks were always a normal sight for you, ever since you hit puberty, but the ones on your stomach have started to move upwards, like vines trying to find the sun. They stared back at you in shades of purples, pinks, and browns.
You ran your fingers over your now bumpy skin.
Other girls don’t look like this. Other girls are happy with a miniature bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, a granola bar for lunch, and maybe a tiny serving of pasta for dinner. They are the beautiful ones. They must be happy, right?
Your fingers unrelentlessly pinch and pull at your stomach, your thighs, your love handles. All fat.
Each tiny action reminded your body that you hated it.
Did you even ever love your body? Even when you were ‘skinny’?
Your eyes met with your face, staring back at you in your mirror. You saw flashes of the girl you once were, tiny memories of a once happy girl.
You couldn’t hold back the wail of grief that racked your whole body. You turned away from the mirror, curling up on your floor.
That wasn’t any better.
The remanants of last night’s binge surrounded you. Wrappers from your favorite ice cream bar, discarded chip bags, and candy containers scattered your floor.
You suddenly remembered that he’d be home soon, and scrambled to collect all the evidence through your blurry eyes.
Each piece of trash reminded you of your failure, your lack of self control. Your uselessness.
You sobbed harder.
“Y/n, darling, I’m home!” that peppy, familiar voice announced from the entranceway. You took a deep breath, scooting all the trash under your bed and wiping your face.
You greeted him, a faux smile plastered on your face.
He began to speak, but when he got a good look at you, he paused.
“What happened here, sweetie?” he asked, touching your face. His hand was chilled from the outside air.
“N-nothing. I’m fine,” you lied, forcing the smile a little more.
He squinted his eyes, sitting down at the kitchen table.
“Go ahead an’ tell me what’s going on with ya,” he offered, patting one knee.
“Baby, it’s nothing. You need to go to bed, I know you’re probably exhausted.”
“The only thing exhausting me right now is you. I’ll go to the bedroom if that’s whatcha want, but I’m not goin to bed until you tell me what’s wrong.”
Fatgum made his way into the bedroom, quickly slipping into his house clothes before sliding into the bed you both shared.
Before you could join him, he paused, adjusting himself.
He then pulled out a popsicle stick that you neglected to remove from the bed when you made it this morning. At the sight of it, you turned away from him and covered your face.
He was now wholly confused, but ready to deal with whatever it was that was upsetting you. He reached out, pulling you to him. You wanted to protest, but you couldn’t find the strength to anymore.
He rubbed your back in small circles, cooing, “let it out, babydoll...that’s it, good...”
Once you had calmed down quite a bit, he tilted your chin up towards his face, making you make eye contact.
“What have you been hiding from me, love?” he delicately questioned.
You said nothing, but slid out the pile of trash from the night before.
“This...is from last night,” you stated plainly.
You tensed your body, ready for the ridicule, the mocking, the ‘i’m just concerned for your health’ comments.
You looked up, to see if he could actually see what you’d just shown him. He did. His eyes were dewy yet understanding.
He stood up, placing his arm around you and pulling you towards him.
“I understand,” he whispered into your ear. You clenched your fist.
“No. You can’t understand.”
You looked up at him, with now angered eyes.
“You’ll never understand, Tai. Never.”
“What do you-”
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO STAY FAT FOREVER! I DO!” you screeched, covering your face. You never yelled at him before, or anyone else for that matter. But this issue you’ve been dealing with was one that no one ever saw from you. It was a raw, bleeding subject, one that you felt as if you’ve just poured a great deal of salt on.
“Darling...” he whispered, pulling you close to him, “What’s wrong with being fat, honey?”
“Are you kidding?” you spat, “I don’t look good like this, Tai. I don’t fit into my clothes anymore, I-”
“Number one, you most certainly do look good like anything. Number two, I will buy you new clothes.”
You were starting to get frustrated.
“Tai! I’m telling you, I fucking hate myself, okay? I hate my body! And, sometimes, I hate you for pretending to love something that I know you hate, too!”
He pulled you away from him, looking you in the eye. He was serious now.
“Don’t you be puttin words in my mouth. I have never ever, not even once thought about hating you or your body,”
“That’s a lie, Tai! How could you ever love me when I look like this?”
“How could you ever love me when I look like this?” he retorted, gesturing to his fat form.
You gasped. You didn’t really have an answer.
He knew you wouldn’t, either.
“So, now tell me, y/n... what’s so wrong about being fat?”
You clung to him, apologizing in between sobs.
He hushed you, cooing,” There’s nothing for you to be sorry about, it’s okay. I love you, sweetie.”
You sniffed, “I love you, too.”

main summary: Heaven is a real place and it's located exactly 14.6 miles away from the FBI, Quantico Headquarters. Off behind a small park, under a fantastical willow tree surrounded by wildflowers, in every colour young minds can imagine.
Don't forget, heaven also comes with angels.
Chapter Summary/Warnings: Amoreena meets Jo, Jo shares her experience with the foster homes (tw self-harm and child abuse), and Spencer shares his shitty childhood with her. They bond, he loves her more than he thought possible, his dreams of a big happy family are coming true.

His phone is ringing at 7:50 and all he does is groan, forgetting Y/N’s agreement with Amoreena. His wife reached over his face and towards the phone, picking up with an overly cheerful tone for a pregnant woman who was up until 3 am.
“Hello sweet girl, how was your sleep?”
“Ugh,” she makes a weird face as the morning nausea kicks in and she tries to swallow it down. “Yeah? Oh, I’m so glad, dad and I are just waking up. We have another big surprise for you today… I know honey there’s always a lot going on, but this one is a good one I promise!”
“Can I go talk to her?” Spencer asks, “alone?”
“Dad’s going to come and see you while mommy has a shower, okay? I love you too, bye,” she smiles as she hangs up and passes the phone back to him.
They kiss quickly before separating, Spencer throws on the same clothes from the beach last night before heading down the hall towards Amoreena’s room. He knocks quietly before entering, seeing her sitting in a queen bed with 2 cats.
“Taylor let Olivia and Benjamin stay in here last night, she said they usually sleep in here anyway!” She was whispering, but it was still loud for her this early.
He sat on the edge of her bed and gave her a big hug, “how was your night?”
“Really amazing, Dad, Taylor is my best friend now,” she’s completely serious, “I hope mom’s not too upset about that, I guess we could share her…”
“That’s a nice thought, are you good at sharing?”
“I think so,” she nods with a serious face.
“Good, because there’s a new person who’s coming to live with us. She’s going to be kind of sad for a while and I’ll be spending a lot of time with her too,” he watches her face as she listens, confused but fine with it.
“Who is she?”
“Did your mom tell you how she made you?”
She nods, “she said sometimes people with penises donate sperm to help people have babies, and you were the one who donated for me,” she gives him a run down so seriously that it makes him laugh like the 7-year-old.
“Yeah, exactly, well I also helped 2 other families make babies,” he says softly, petting her hair as she understands what that means.
“So I have more siblings?”
“Yep, 2 sisters and a brother,” he smiles as she starts to bounce with excitement. “Josephine is 12, almost 13, and she’s coming to live with us.”
“Where is her mom?” She asks, he knew she would.
“Her mom and dad were in an accident, they died and she looked for me because she didn’t want to be alone anymore,” he knows it’s a hard topic, and that she understands death after losing her gg, but it’s still hard.
“Oh, that’s sad,” she frowns, moving in to hug him again, she keeps her head pressed to his shoulder. “I hope she’s okay, is she here now too?”
“She is, but I’m not sure if she’s awake yet, she’s a teenager and they sometimes sleep in longer than you would, like when Henry was over and slept until noon,” he has all his kids profiled in his minds and it’s actually more helpful than a hindrance.
“Does she like Taylor?”
He knew that one was coming too, “she’s a huge fan, she cried meeting her just like mom.”
“Is she going to call my mom her mom now?”
“I don’t think so, would that upset you?” He’s worried for the answer, he had the same jealous tendencies growing up. Hell, he still has them.
“No, she needs a mom, I would be very sad without mine, I know she needs one too,” she looked at him like it was a stupid question because of course, all kids need a mom and her mom happened to be the best.
“That’s really nice of you, she knows all about you and she’s really excited to move in with us, maybe you can help her decorate her room?” He isn’t sure what Jo will think, but he knows it would be good for bonding.
“Can we see if she’s awake? Wait, she’s a she right? Miss Kennedy said sometimes people look like girls but they don’t like to feel like girls, so we use they,” Amoreena was so worried about being a good sister he didn’t know why he worried so much.
“Well, I’m not sure, Jo hasn’t told me but you can ask?”
She shot right out of bed, still in her dress from last night as she ran to the door, “come on, what room is it?”
“Right there, knock nicely,” he says as he joins her in the hall, pointing to the room across from her.
She knocked 3 times, hearing a small ‘yeah?’ From the other side before opening it, “good morning!” Amoreena cheered.
“Amoreena!” Jo smiled as she got out of bed and ran over to her. She dropped to her knees so they’d be the same height and wrapped her up in her arms.
They hugged like this was a reunion and not an introduction, they held on to one another so tightly they both squeezed their eyes shut and held their breath. He knew that kind of hug, that was a hug you gave when you deeply loved the person you were hugging.
It made him want to cry, again.
Jo pulled back from her and Amoreena immediately held her face in her hands, observing her. “Yep, you’re my sister,” she smiled as she saw her nose.
That same perfect little button that was slightly angled towards the sky, she booped it lightly. Jo booped her right back.
“I am, it’s pretty cool getting to share a dad with you cause now I get to meet Taylor Swift, how the heck did we get so lucky?” Jo talks to her like she’s used to being around kids, finding the wonder in every word and saying the whole sentence with enthusiasm.
She turns to him, both his girls making the same face as they looked at him in the doorway, “how did you meet Taylor, dad?”
“You remember Uncle Dave? He came over for the barbecue and talked to poppy bob about winemaking all night?”
“Yeah, he’s Italian,” Amoreena remembered his funny accent and how she called him Mario.
“His daughter is Taylor’s friend, so Taylor sent me an email asking to meet you,” he couldn’t help but smile as she did.
“So you guys really are knights at the FBI, huh?”
“Yeah, but my armour got too rusty so now I’m going to guard the princess only, no more battles for me,” he was happy to make it magical, to turn the terribleness of it all into something she could be proud of.
He feels cold hands reaching under the back of his shirt then as he jumps, Y/N is wrapping her arms around him and pressing her cheek to his back, “your armour is fine, it just needs some polish.”
“They’re kinda gross, you’ll have to get used to that,” Amoreena says, pressing her lips together awkwardly as she looks at Jo.
“It’s nice though, it makes you feel like love is real,” Jo smiled back, “not many kids have happy families.”
“You do now, okay?” Amoreena took her cheeks in her hands again, something she must have learned from Y/N. “My family is your family and we are the best family, you’re going to have so much fun with us, can I help you decorate your room?”
Jo cried, laughing lightly as she nodded, “that would be cool, maybe we can get bunk beds for random sleepovers?”
Amoreena shot her eyes to her mom, “can we?”
“That would be cool,” Y/N agreed, “we’ll go to Ikea on Friday when I’m not working, okay?”
“And this weekend we can buy some paint for your room?” Spencer added, “you guys can plan all week together.”
“Yes!” Amoreena cheered, hugging Jo again.
Jo held her gently, resting her cheek against the top of Amoreena’s head with a small smile. She looked genuinely happy, peaceful like she belonged somewhere again.
Right then Amoreena’s eyes are darting right to him, “It’s fathers day!” She screams, way too loud for 8 am in someone else’s home. Thank god Taylor was on the other side of the mansion.
“Oh my god,” Amoreena smacked her forehead with her little hand, “I was so carried away with the wedding I didn’t pack your present, dad! I’m so sorry.”
“I’ve got you covered little miss,” Y/N smiled at her, “It’s in my purse!”
Amoreena pushed past them in the doorway and ran to their room in search of said purse. Probably emptying it out on the bed and making a huge mess, but it was fine.
Y/N took a moment to kiss his cheek, “good morning, happy father’s day.”
“Thank you,” he blushed, turning to face her and hold her close, “I can feel you staring Jo, come here.”
She comes skipping right over, wrapping her arms around them both and resting her head on Spencer’s side. For a 12-year-old she was tall, a lot taller than Henry was, that’s for sure.
“Hey!” Amoreena butts in, “let me in,” she pushed into the middle of the hug to steal all the warmth, “happy father’s day, dad.”
“Happy father’s day,” Jo added with a soft smile, “thank you for everything.”
“Yeah, you’re the best dad in the world, Jo you should see how he reads with his mind, he doesn’t even need to look at the books at bedtime,” Amoreena bragged, pulling back from all of them then.
Spencer wiped the tears from his face and pretended he wasn’t crying, overwhelmed by love just like he told Jo to expect. “I love you guys, I’m so glad I helped make you both, you’re the best kids a dad could ask for.”
“Here,” Amoreena hands him a wrapped present.
It’s a handmade book, blue construction paper bound with green ribbon in little loops and covered in a thin layer of tissue paper from the present he got her last week. He carefully removes the tissue and hands it back to her, “do you still want it for dresses?”
“Sure,” she takes it with a smile, “I wrote this for you after a dream I had, Miss Kennedy helped me write it all and reword it a bit. But it’s all from my brain.”
“Spencer’s little women,” he reads and then his heartbeat almost stops when he sees the bottom, “by Amoreena Reid.”
“We can go sit in the living room while you read it to us?” Y/N offered, taking the girl's hands and leading them all down the hallway.
Taylor’s house was full of floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing them to watch the sunrise over the ocean as they cuddled up on the couch as a family. Him and his little women.
“Once upon a time, there was a kingdom ruled by a beautiful princess who had a broken heart. She promised to hide away from the townspeople until she gathered all the pieces again,” Spencer read the first sentence and knew he wouldn’t be able to make it through the whole book.
“You know, I think it would be better if you read this to me Amoreena,” he asks her gently, “I want to know it from your voice first.”
“Okay,” she bounces up from where she cuddled into her mother to take the book from his hand, sitting straight as she got ready to read.
“Slowly, but surely, the pieces came back to her one by one as the people felt the need to search for her, they missed seeing her smile as she ruled alongside her parents, the king and queen until her heart was fixed.
A little girl, Lady Amoreena, arrived like a gift. A fairy godmother handing a small child to the princess to raise and love forever and ever, they were best friends more than anything.
But the princess’s baby girl made it her mission to fix the rest of her heart as she grew up seeing her mom frown, questing for princes and kings, even another princess to come and fill that last missing spot of her heart. To make their family love grew as the cracks from where they separated were healed.
She set off on her daily adventure, running off past the gates on the way to the willow tree, excited to see what wonders the pond of youth brought to her this time. Surprised to find a knight, his broken and rusty armour fallen on the ground, he was wrapped in weeds, he had been trapped for too long to remember.
Amoreena cut the vines off him with her sword, “you’re free now, sir knight.”
“How can I ever repay you?” The kind man with the same nose as her asked.
“Meet the princess, tell her about your battles, make her laugh and you can stay with us,” she gives him one final quest. His last ever duty.
The princess smiles as soon as they meet. He wins her over without even trying, he completes their family and makes all the cracks in her heart fuse back together. Gold light shines from her as she’s healed, completed by the love of a family she never knew she needed.
The love didn’t end there… the knight and the princess knew lady Amoreena would be like her mom when she grew up. The possibility of a sad and broken heart as she got older, so they made her 8 more siblings, her group of sisters to keep her company during the happily ever after part.
“Sir Spencer, where are all your little women?” The king of the land asked, seeing the knight and the princess all alone on the path, old and slow as they walked.
“Down by the pond, it’s story day!”
He knew that’s where they’d always be, at their pond with a book, braiding each other's hair, weaving flower crowns and chasing each other through the wildflowers that replaced the vines that once held him down.
Free, healed and happy. Spencer and his little women healed the princess, allowing her to take the role as Queen, like her grandma always wanted for her.”
“There isn’t a 'the end'?” Y/N’s voice questions lightly as Spencer cries too hard to even respond.
She was the most amazing child in the whole world and he didn’t know what he did to deserve her. He wrapped her up in his arms and held her so tight she was smacking his arm to let her go with a laugh, “I want to add more to it when I’m older, like GG’s book.”
“You can write one for all your sisters,” Y/N smiles at her softly, “you know, gg only wrote Amoreena because you came to her in a dream?”
She nodded, “that’s why I started writing this book for dad because I had a dream about him reading to all of us, he was so old it was funny.”
“How old?” He asks, remembering his reflection from his own dream.
“Like poppy, you had a white beard!”
“What did we talk about?” He doesn’t know why he wants to know so badly but he’s desperate to know if their dream was the same.
“It was story day, you and mom were late, but you said, ‘I’d never miss a Saturday with my little women,’” she smiles, “I’m so glad you’re my dad.”
She holds him back just as tight this time, snuggling into his chest as he breathes her in. His first little baby, even if she was the middle kid now, she was his baby, he couldn’t even imagine holding someone even smaller than her soon.
They take a quick trip to target in the morning, needing to get some things for Jo and Y/N really, really wanted chocolate-covered cranberries, making sure he knew that she would kill him if he didn’t bring them back to her. Finally having those pregnancy mood swings he was expecting.
Jo is quick to pick out some summer clothes and a bathing suit for the day as well as toiletries and anything else she wanted because Spencer said so. He was going to spoil her because he didn’t know what else to do. This is what he wanted from his dad, someone to see something, think of him and just get it to make him smile.
She saw some purple bedding that she liked, so it ended up in the cart. And then she needed some new pillow, and some fitted sheets… oh and those curtains are nice… and before they knew it they had $300 worth of things for her bedroom in the back of Y/N’s car.
Jo pressed her lips together awkwardly as they sat in the front seats of the car, he looked over at her and smiled, making her laugh, “this is the best father’s day.”
“I’m supposed to be getting you gifts today!”
“You are a gift, Jo,” he doesn’t mean to get sappy, but he can’t help the love he feels for her already.
“Drive before I cry, dude,” she turns to look out the window. “Are we going to have a 'ground rules and behaviour' speech like all the foster parents do? I have a feeling you have no idea what you’re doing.”
He starts the car then, pulling out of the lot and starting the 40-minute car ride back with her, “how do they normally set the rules in the foster homes?”
“They pay for my phone bill with the money provided for me each month and they sometimes get me the groceries I want for lunches and stuff but they mostly kept the money for themselves. I’m only allowed on the internet for an hour a day, homework has to be done in front of their eyes at the kitchen table, no food after 7 pm, lights off and no walking around by 9,” she gave the rundown and it made Spencer’s stomach turn.
“I will pay for your phone bill, you don't need to worry about that. We can even get you a new one when we get home. Y/N has great internet and every streaming service available, you don’t have a time limit here. Just promise me you’ll go outside sometimes?” He reaches a hand out to hold her’s while driving, letting her know he means what is coming next.
“I trust you have a way of life you’re used to, and I’m not going to change that on you, if you want to share things with me and be open and honest, I’m always here and I will never judge you. I don’t want you to ever feel like you need to hide things from me. And that being said, I trust you enough to use the internet safely, and not hack anything without good reason anymore?”
Derek was right, it’s surprisingly easy to be a dad. All you have to do is love them and be there for them.
“Okay, then I think you should know,” she takes a deep breath and a pause. “I’m pretty sure I like girls too, I never got to tell my mom that but I’m sure she knew, and I’m kind of scared to put my bathing suit on when I get home.”
“First of all, I’m proud of you,” he squeezes her hand 3 times, and she does it right back with a smile. “Secondly, why? Did you not get one you liked? I was fine buying any of them for you.”
“I have a lot of scars on my legs, and I don’t want to scare Amoreena,” she’s really ashamed of herself and Spencer understands it.
He rolls his sleeve up and extends his arm for her to see his very faded track marks, “I was drugged on a case once, I had an addiction after. The scars fade over time, but I also haven’t shown Amoreena my bare arms yet.”
“Mine are pretty faded now too, it’s been a few months, they look more like stretch marks,” she smiled at his honesty, feeling safer with him.
“If she asks, you can say it was from a cat at the foster home. She’ll think about Cinderella and the evil stepmother's cat, and then completely forget why she asked,” he assures her, knowing Amoreena like the back of his hand now.
“Lucifer,” Jo smiles, “I was like her as a kid too, always making up stories and finding new movies to be obsessed with. I have ADHD, by the way, but I’m un-medicated cause my last foster home didn’t listen to the school’s diagnosis,” she says it like it’s not a big deal.
His blood starts to boil at the thought of someone not taking care of her, “excuse me?”
“Yeah, and when I asked for a therapist they said no to that too, I was ‘fine’ apparently and they settled for a dead parents support group so that Colin could have a coffee while I sat there,” she’s oblivious to how terrible it is.
“Make me a list of all the things you want, I mean everything down to the most niche interest or therapy technique that you’ve researched and I will help you with whatever it is,” Spencer is furious at the conditioning she’s experienced to think this is okay.
“You don’t have to, dad, I’m okay now,” she lies and he can tell.
“You don’t have to be, believe me, I cry almost every night to Y/N about things I thought I had recovered from. If you want to talk to someone because you think it will help, or if you want medicine because you feel like it’ll help you focus better or just be happier, I’m here to help you get that.”
She goes quiet, staring at their hands where he’s still squeezing her palm. She rubs her thumb along the skin softly, “did your mom ever hurt you?”
“Only when she wasn’t really there in her own mind,” he presses his lips together right after, he’s never told anyone about it.
“Did your dad?”
“Emotionally, but he wasn’t there long enough to lay a hand on me.”
She nods at the response, “my dad was evil, I think he killed my mom in that ‘accident’, but on purpose.”
“I thought my dad was a murderer once too, but it was actually my dad’s friend,” he isn’t sure why he’s telling her everything, but she deserved to know.
“There was a pedophile in our town who killed this boy, Riley, and my mom told him about a man who was watching me like I was next. And Riley’s dad killed him, but I was so young my mind tried to think it was my dad who did it all.”
“Your old job must have really messed you up inside too, huh?” She tries to laugh it off, scared of his past but intrigued at the same time, he just nods at her observation.
“I have a friend, her name is Penelope, her parents died when she was a little bit older than you. She snuck out and they went to look for her, and they were in a car crash,” he makes sure she’s comfortable, her hand is still in his and her thumb is still moving over his skin.
“Like you, she got into hacking, the FBI had to hire her because she was so good she became a threat, you’d really like her,” he says, turning to look at her quickly, he loves the smile on her face.
“I’d love to meet her,” she smiled, “thank you, I wish you could have always been my dad.”
It breaks his heart a little, “well, you have me forever now.”
“Two questions,” Y/N’s voice approaches as she walks towards the trunk of her car.
Jo and Spencer are digging through all the shopping bags trying to find all the things that she needs for the afternoon, leaving the rest for the ride home.
“Here,” Spencer hands her the chocolate-covered cranberries, “king-sized bag.”
“I love you,” she smiles as she takes it, “the second question, how are the suitcases going to fit in there now? We have two kids to bring home, they’re going to be squished.”
“I don’t mind,” Jo smiles, “one time they didn’t have room for me in a car so I sat in the trunk for 15 minutes.”
Spencer wrapped her up in his arms, “every time you tell me a story about what has happened to you, I want to kill someone.”
She laughs, holding him back gently, “believe me, I was an asshole to them, they got what they deserved.”
“What did you do?” Y/N worries about what she’s capable of, Spencer can tell.
“I called the tax people and said they have been claiming foster kids as dependents and now they might have tax fraud charges coming their way,” she seemed very proud of herself. “I would never hurt someone, but I have no problem getting them in trouble.”
Y/N extended her fist, bumping it off Jo’s with a smile, “as you should! Now, come on, let’s go get ready for the beach.”
Jo skipped inside with Y/N, their arms linked as they did so. Spencer couldn’t believe this was his life now. He closed the trunk with a slam, picking up the bag of things he set aside before joining them inside.
“Surprise!!!!” Amoreena screamed as soon as he walked through the door.
There was a hand-drawn Happy Father’s Day banner hanging from the staircase and purple balloons all over the place.
“Happy father’s day!!!” They all cheered for him, even Taylor’s mom was there now, smiling at the display of affection.
Amoreena and Jo came running up to him, wrapping their arms around him and holding him close, nothing felt real. “Can you pinch me?” He asked them with a small smile.
He didn’t think they’d do it, but even Y/N walked over and started pinching him all over. Amoreena pinched his leg, Jo pinched his belly button and Y/N, she pinched his cute little butt as she pressed a kiss to his blushing cheek. “You’re very real, so are we.”
“I love you guys,” Spencer reminds them, holding them all as close as he can for just a moment, “okay, enough sappiness, let’s go to the beach!”
Amoreena and Y/N are already in their swimsuits under their sundresses, Jo, on the other hand, picked out some trunks and a tank-style swim top, hiding her scares just enough that she felt comfortable getting in the sand and building a castle with Amoreena.
Y/N laid on the towel beside Spencer in the shade, Taylor and her mom were playing scrabble on the picnic table, her dad was cooking up burgers on the grill. It was serene, it was perfect, they were a little family and it made absolutely no sense to him how it all worked out so well, but he wouldn’t change any of it.
“Look how big it is after lunch,” Y/N grabbed his attention, sticking her belly out as far as it could go, “I’m going to get so huge again, at least this time I’ll be the biggest when it’s cold out.”
“Are you comfortable? Do you need more sunscreen or water?” Spencer worried, making her smile as she pushed her sunglasses up and turned to him.
“I am fantastic, thank you, cutie.”
He leans in to kiss her gently, but she wraps her arms around him and pulls him down on top of her. Kissing him like she just rescued him from the sea and hasn’t seen him for years.
When he finally pulls away, he doesn’t go far. Just sitting up as he brushes her hair off her face, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she reminds him with another soft smile.
“I missed mother’s day with you by only a few days, but you should know you’re the best mother in the whole world,” he whispered, wanting to share his day with her because, without her, he wouldn’t be a father.
She pulls him into another kiss, hands resting on his cheeks as she breathes in deeply through her nose. It’s like she’s taking the soul out of his body, he's a part of her now forever and always. He never wants to be anywhere else.

Y/N knew she fucked up, she fucked up so bad. She had pushed Harry away when she needed him most all because she was insecure? All because she thought that he’d think less of her and leave? Her worst nightmare came to life anyway, she did that to herself. She’d gone home early, catching a ride with Amber and well, Timothée didn’t seem to notice. Y/N was going to break up with him the next time she saw him, she was positive. It was all just a matter of time before it happened.
Getting the text from Harry the next morning did surprise her. She thought she wouldn’t hear from him but... he said he had to show her something important? What could it be? She got dressed pretty quickly, not really thinking about how she looked, she just hopped in her bike and rode over. She was nervous to see him, would he still be upset with her? Of course, but she had stopped at the shop to get some snacks and a teddy bear to say that she was sorry.
Harry has showered and gotten dressed rather quickly, knowing she would be over quickly. He knew this would upset her. Not okay because Timothée would technically be lying to her but because it was to Harry. The guy she had gotten close to. He cleaned up his room even though he wasn’t sure she would want to come up there at all, waiting downstairs. When the bell rang, he was quick to answer and let her in. She had a shopping bag with her but he didn’t pay that any mind, bringing her closer into the house. Thank god his parents weren’t home today.
“Listen, I know you’re pissed with me but I woke up to this. You needed to see if. If I sent you a screenshot you may think I’m lying so I needed you to open it up yourself.” He shoved his phone at her, unlocked. “Instagram. The top message.”
Y/N parked her bike and went inside as usual, being greeted by the kitties but Harry spoke before she could even react to them. She furrowed her brows, taking his phone from him and opened up Instagram. Timmy? She looked up at Harry with brows furrowed, seeing him nod so she opened the message.
‘Heeeeeyyy Harry, know this is random and all but like... you’re so fucking hot’
‘I wanted to talk to you last night, didn't get the chance to’
‘but if you ever want me to suck your dick I can’
Y/N couldn’t believe what she was reading. Timmy? Sent that? To him? Last night? She swallowed thickly and just read over it a few times. He really didn’t bother telling her? Was just going to cheat behind her back and lead her on? Granted, she was cheating too, but at least she was trying to talk to him and cheating.. she didn’t want to do that. Y/N was speechless, looking up at Harry like a babbling fish. She wasn’t going to cry though, no. Y/N just had what she needed now to break up with him and she would. But not before she talked and apologized to Harry.
“I woke up and I saw those.” Harry swallowed. “And like, obviously I’m not your favorite person right now and I get if you want to leave now cause you saw but I had to show you. I’m not gonna answer but he should know M’gonna show you.” There was no denying it. Considering Y/N and Harry were very obviously getting close to begin with, it was something he was certain he would know. Why him out of all people? He didn’t know. “And I’m just.. wondering if he’s been doin’ that to other guys too that he knows do stuff so like... I just wanted to show you. I know we haven’t been doing much better and that like, cheating isn’t good to begin with but yeah.” He rubbed the back of his neck. Damn. This was hard.
Y/N nodded her head, “no, thanks for telling me.” She said with a soft voice, letting out a small sigh as she handed him his phone back. “I can’t be too mad at him, or I'd be a hypocrite.” Y/N explained and let out a breath, “I’ll... I’ll talk to him later...” She said and then looked down at her bag. “I um...” Y/N started and started bringing up the bag. “I wanted to apologize though... it wasn’t fair of me to talk to you like that when you were just trying to be a good friend... you mean a lot to me and I hate knowing that I made you upset, that I made you feel like I didn’t want to hang out with you anymore...” She reached into her bag to get out a teddy bear that was holding a star. Originally she just went in to get the snacks but then she saw the bear sitting there and she knew she had to buy it. It reminded her so much of Harry and she hoped he liked it. “Will you forgive me?” She asked holding the teddy bear out for him. “I also got some snacks.....”
There was a little star on it. Harry wasn’t one for receiving gifts but this made him feel fond. How she knew him even though it hadn’t been that long.
“Oh... you didn’t have to get me anything.” He murmured. He would cherish that bear till the day he died. It was thoughtful and lovely. “Course I forgive you. I just.. I hope you know I’m not some dickhead who’s out to get you.” He whispered. “I just want you to be happy. Whether it’s hanging around me or with him. I just hate seeing you sad.” He felt a bit vulnerable. She had tapped into his softer side with the star holding bear. It would be a treasured item of his. “Did you want to stay? Or go figure your stuff out?” He asked. He understood if she needed time to think alone.
“I know, but I wanted to.” She said shyly, pushing a piece of her hair away from her face. “You’re not a dickhead Harry, never thought you were.” Y/N wrapped her arms around him in a hug. She really did miss him, it had been a while since they hung out now that the project was over and because they had that little fight. “Can I stay? Missed you..” and she had. Y/N just wanted to sit around and listen to music and talk with him for hours. Catch up on the stupid shit Niall and Zayn said, maybe watch a movie while they ate their snacks, or they could just be munchies for him to have on his own when she inevitably went to talk to Timothée. “I’m gonna talk to him later..” Y/N repeated herself, pulling out her phone to text him saying they needed to meet up and have a chat. Timothée had agreed, probably knowing what the chat was going to be about because he’d never responded so quickly to her.
Harry kisses the top of her head tenderly. It was hard to refrain from being physically affectionate with her. She called to the caring bits of him and he wanted her to be happy to sit around and be held by him.
“Course you can stay. Come on.” He grabbed her bag of snacks and carried them up with Y/N and the kitties following behind her eager for pets. It was good to have her back in his bed. To sit next to her while they munched on chips and have her curl up next to him. Her hand held his shirt as they watched some sort of documentary about true crime, and he was happy as hell just to have her there. His mind did wander. Could he ever have this for good? Have it so he could tell her sweet things and not have it be weird or crossing a line? Things felt like they were back to normal, the two of them cuddled up on his bed all comfy cozy and snacking. Y/N could stay like this forever she felt like. Her mind was now made up. She thought that she would be more upset about it all but now that she had something that solidified her beliefs? She didn’t feel so bad anymore.
Y/N had spent the last 10 minutes of the documentary just admiring him. She’d missed being this close to him and of course, she missed kissing him, missed having his hands on her and hearing those sexy grunts of his. She couldn’t hold back anymore, she just cupped his cheek and turned his attention to her, leaning up to kiss him hungrily. Y/N just wanted to feel it again, feel him and connect with him, needed to remember what made her feel so good before she went to break up with Timmy.
When she kissed him, Harry immediately felt better. Knowing she wanted to kiss him again and didn’t regret anything they did soothed him fully, grabbing her waist and pulling her closer to him as he turned so he could kiss her. It was smooth and hot, her tongue against his as he got into her mouth. His hand held her back and kept her close to him, humming happily at the kisses she gave him. He missed it. Even a week of no kissing had made him sad, so to have it back meant a lot. When they pulled apart, he hid his face in her neck to breathe her in. It was warm and she smelled sweet and just like her. He needed that comfort. Needed her affections.
Y/N’s heart felt full again, he’d kissed her back with just as much passion and desire. He had missed her just as much as she missed him and that within itself was comforting. Her hands carded through his hair as he nuzzled against her neck, pressing kisses to the side of his head. Y/N was holding him tight, breathing steadying as she finally felt the calm overcome her. She didn’t say anything though. It was an unspoken thing that the two of them both knew they’d missed each other a lot, that the both of them needed this and just needed to hold and kiss each other like they were meant to. Y/N didn’t want to do anything until it was confirmed that she was broken up with Timothée despite it being that way in her head. Y/N could dare say she loved him but it had only been a month. They did have a very strong connection, that much was undeniable. She looked at him as he pulled back from her neck and pressed a few soft and gentle kisses across his face. Her angel. He had no idea how special he really was to her.
Harry scrunched his nose when she put a kiss on it, letting out a silent laugh. She was spoiling him with attention and it felt rather good. He couldn’t deny that. She had him by the balls. It wasn’t like he was going to open and spill his guts about how much he liked her— but he did. He liked her a lot. Y/N was lovely and soft and sweet to him, she kissed incredibly well, he loved her body and being intimate with her. It was like she pulled up on every stop.
“Mm. Feels nice.”
He wondered if she could potentially be his first girlfriend. Proper one. Where he kissed her every day and brought her to school and had her sleep over, made love to her. He wasn’t sure if she would be down for that but maybe eventually. He could wiggle his way into her heart if he was lucky enough.
Y/N smiled fondly at him, pushing pieces of his hair back behind his ear. She pressed another kiss to his lips, letting out a hum. “Please don’t cut your hair...” Y/N spoke softly, pressing another kiss to his cheeks and then his nose. “I mean, I know you’ll have to eventually but.. keep it long, it looks really nice.” After spending a week apart she really just wanted to shower him in affection, tell him all the things she was too scared to say before. She almost lost him. Y/N had long forgotten about the documentary, just focusing on him now. Had he somehow gotten more handsome? Or was she just even more fond of him than ever before? “I’m going to go talk to him, yeah?” She whispered softly, “just want to get it out of the way. I’ll go talk to him and I’ll come back and... and I’ll spend the night if you’d like? I would really like to..” Y/N spoke with blushy cheeks. It was all hitting her pretty hard, but she couldn’t tell him how she felt yet.
“Yeah.. can come back and sleep here.” Harry hadn’t woken up next to her in a while and he missed it. He missed her a lot. It wasn’t that long but he was starting to realize things that he hadn’t before. Things were becoming clearer. Like his feelings for her. He kissed her a few more times at the door, holding the back of her neck to keep her there. He didn’t want her to go but she would be coming back to him quickly and he was looking forward to it. “If you... if you want to, Tonight... we can.” He was dying to fuck her. Dying. And once she was free from him, if she was in the mood? He could more than ever give her a good time. That's what she deserved. “If not that’s fine too but... yeah.” He shrugged. Gently letting her go. “Call me if you don’t want to bike back. I’ll come and get you.”
Y/N looked at him stunned. He wanted to? he really meant what he said when he  gave her his ultimatum? She nodded her head as he let her go, cheeks flushed. “Okay.” She answered shyly, deciding she would have plenty of time to think about it once she got back from Timothée’s house.
----
The bike ride over was spent thinking about what on earth she was going to say. Y/N knew she had every right to be mad but she also wanted to be there for him. What if he had no one else to go to? Well, at least there would be no more wondering after today. They were finally going to lay it all out on the table.
“Hey.” She spoke as he opened the door, stepping inside and following him to his room. Y/N was incredibly nervous, but she had to stay calm. “So.. look, I don’t want to argue, but Harry showed me the DMs you sent him and I just... I wish you told me. I already knew but I didn’t want to push you to come out to me if you weren’t ready but... I care about you timmy, I want to be there for you.”
His face fell.
“You saw, huh?” Timothée was hopeful maybe Harry wouldn’t show her but, his loyalties lie with Y/N. As they probably should. He didn’t know what to say. It was terrifying. “Please don’t tell anyone. Please ask him not to tell anyone either. I was drunk and it just came out and I’m sorry. To both of you. But please just... I’m not ready to tell people. I messed up.” He was obviously scared. “I know I’m an asshole. I know I should have told you but I don’t want anyone to know cause, I’m not able to deal with it myself.” He swallowed thickly, looking down. Y/N and Harry basically had his life in the palm of their hands.
“Hey, hey, hey...” Y/N frowned and went to wrap her arms around him in a hug. “You’re okay...” She whispered, petting his head gently to calm him down. “I wasn’t planning on telling anyone and Harry isn’t either...” Y/N wanted him to know that they respected his wishes. “Just really hurt me, you know? Cause I just wanted to be there for you... I understand why you didn’t tell me, but I thought of all people, you could trust me, ya know?” Y/N explained calmly, “I’m not mad at you... cause I have something to tell you too.” She was nervous to tell him but hey, she had every right to do what she did knowing now that he was gay. She was never more than a friend to him. “Harry told me cause um... he and I have been um... doing stuff.”
“Stuff?” Not only was his girlfriend— or ex girlfriend? Aware that he’s gay. She was with the guy he wanted. It sucks. So bad. “Oh...” Timothée wasn’t angry at her for the cheating aspect. More so because that meant Harry wasn’t going to want him. It was common knowledge that Harry fucked around a lot and it didn’t matter what gender. He liked that about him. It was jealousy. “Really? I mean... I know I wasn’t touching you and I’m sorry if I made you feel badly about it but... how did that even happen?” He hurt. Was sad. But she wasn’t angry at him. He couldn’t be angry about doing nearly the same thing.
Y/N nodded her head, knowing it must have hurt him because well... he did send that message for a reason. “It’s okay, I get why now...” She started, smiling a little at the thought of her and Harry. “I’ve um.. I had a crush on him for a long time and like... when we had to work together for the project I was um... yeah, it just happened.” Y/N blushed shaking her head a little because she was telling her ex boyfriend, who was gay, that she had been cheating on him. “You like him a lot don’t you?” Y/N could tell, it hurt her knowing he was struggling internally and hurting, but her feelings were valid too. “I’m sorry... but, we’ll find you a really nice boy yeah? Whenever you are ready. Promise.” She said, taking his hand. “I want to be okay again... still wanna be your friend and stuff. Can tell people we just grew apart if that’s what you’d prefer.” Y/N said and squeezed his hand a little, “Whatever you need.” She wanted to be there for him, she really did. “Harry and I aren’t official or anything... obviously... so, that won’t be a thing for a bit...”
“Yeah— Uh, we can do that.” Timothée said softly. It was two hits with one knife and it hurt. It sucks. But at least Y/N didn’t hate him. He was so worried she would. And that she wouldn’t ever talk to him again. “You really don’t hate me?” He was astonished. He had hidden a part of himself from her for a while and pushed her away over and over because of it and it had to have hurt. But she was offering to help him and get him a boyfriend? “I would hate me.” He was glad she didn’t though, accepting her gentle affection. “I’m sorry. That I made you feel like you were annoying. You weren’t. I was just... not able to give you what you wanted. I understand why you went to him.”
Y/N let out a chuckle, “no, I don’t hate you Timmy.” She said softly and let out a sigh. “I thought it was me for a long time... thought that maybe I wasn’t sexy enough for you or that maybe you just weren’t into me like that but didn’t want to hurt my feelings. But I could tell after a while because there was no chemistry like that, could tell I made you uncomfortable.” She explained with a sad sigh. “Kind embarrasses now actually thinking about it...” Y/N blushed and shook her head, “but yeah... I was really upset, I hated that you didn’t talk to me and yeah I was upset with you and angry but I could never hate you. Knew that you weren’t doing this on purpose...” She didn’t want to hurt his feelings or rub it in but she wanted him to know that even though he hurt her and couldn’t be there for her, Harry was. “He’s been really nice to me... Makes me feel really special and beautiful and... I really like him.” Y/N spoke and let out a sigh, “he doesn’t know that but..”
Timmy and Y/N continued their conversation as Harry ran to the store. He got condoms, he got some breakfast food for the next day, he also got a lollipop for her. It was cotton candy and reminded him of her. He quickly came back and fixed the house and changed his sheets to new ones. He wanted it seamless as possible if she was wanting him too. If she wanted to make love. If she didn’t, he would gladly just relax with her and be happy that they could finally move forward with their shit. Thank god.
‘Hey, just a time check. Are you coming soon?’ He texted her, hoping she wasn’t in the middle of deep conversation with him. He was antsy and wanted her home with him. Wanted to have her strip down and change into maybe one of his shirts. He wanted to feel a bit of ownership.
Once Y/N was positive that Timmy was okay, she felt good. Much better about everything. “Hey. I love you.” She smiled and gave him a hug, “you’re gonna be okay. Promise.” She told him and then looked down at her phone. Harry. He was so cute her heart could burst. He was checking up on her and making sure she was okay. Her sweet angel. “I gotta go though, yeah? I’ll see you at school.” She said and gave him a sweet smile, “if you need anything just shoot me a text.” Y/N cooed and made her way over to her bike.
‘On my way back now 💓’
And she was off.
It was while she was riding back to Harry’s that she realized what he had told her earlier. How he said he wanted to  if she wanted to. The idea of it made her mind stomach erupt into a fit of butterflies. She was single now. Single and ready to be Harry’s whenever she decided to tell him how she felt. If he wanted her.
Harry had told her to let herself in. He had been cooking for them. Just quesadillas and some rice but he knew she needed some food in her. He felt a hand run over his back and smiled to himself as he felt her sneak under his arm.
“Hi.” He leaned down to kiss the top of her head. It was immediately a lot better. He felt like a weight was off his shoulders. She was here and single and he could do whatever he wanted to her. Perhaps it was reckless because he didn’t know how she truly felt but he would take anything at this point. He had a feeling she wasn’t going to want to fully discuss what had just happened so instead, he handed her a plate he had already made before taking his food off of the pan and sliding it on the plate for himself. “Where do you want to eat?”
“Can we eat on the roof? I wanna watch the sunset.” Y/N thought it would be really romantic and nice and if they were going to do stuff then well... she wanted to get them into the romantic mood. Of course with them it always took just one word and suddenly the two of them couldn’t get their hands off of each other. Since hanging out with Harry, she had become a lot more vocal in bed or a lot more okay with being vocal in bed. She still got shy asking about stuff from time to time, but he was pretty good at encouraging her. They had pretty much done all the basics except for actually vaginal penetration and well... she had yet to give him a blow job.
“I know you’re wondering.” Y/N spoke, deciding to let him know. “Timmy and I are good... he apologized, asked that we don’t tell anyone about it. Our story for breaking up is that we grew apart and out of love. He was really scared... but I’m glad that things worked out.”
“Good. Hope he knows M’not gonna out him to anyone or anything but you.” He wasn’t that type. “I know I’ve been open about not giving a shit what gender I would used to fuck around with but I know not everyone is lucky enough to have that mindset or be open about it.” Pussy had always been a favorite though. While he did fuck guys, he was more into women. “I’m glad that you’re better though. Have more clarity. Feel better about it.” He did feel a lot better about it now. Knowing she was going to be single now. He could try and say how he felt without saying it. “Also.. my mum comes home this week. If you wanted to stay over on the weekend again— she’s cool, she’ll like you. My parents don’t get weird about like, sex or alcohol. They always said if they didn’t let us experiment that we would find unsafe ways to do it. Granted... I’ve never had someone over to do anything, but you’re different. She’ll love to have you over.”
Y/N always knew about how he didn’t mind who he had sex with, it didn’t really bother her either because it was none of her business anyway as long as he stayed loyal to her. Fuck— she hated that in her mind he was already hers, felt like her breaking things off with Timmy meant they were together but things didn’t work like that.
“You want me to meet you mom?” She was shocked because she knew his family meant a whole lot to him. They didn’t seem to be home a lot but when they were it was likely a big deal. He was already inviting her back over to meet his mom? “I’d love to.” Y/N smiled softly, “I um... I gotta give my mom an excuse though.” Maybe if Y/N explained the situation to her mom she’d let her go. Her mom would likely be skeptical of Harry but if she knew just how smart he and how nice his family was she definitely wouldn’t have a problem with it.
“You can come up with something.” He shrugged. She always did. Y/N was at his house during the weekends but didn’t always sleep over. It would be fun if she could stay the whole weekend.
“My dad isn’t gonna be home yet but honestly... probably better. He’s full of jokes.” He laughed. “I don’t want you to be overwhelmed. I just think if we’re gonna hang out more, it’ll be cool for you to know my family.” See if they got along. Granted, it didn’t matter but he knew Y/N would get along with his sister and mum. No doubt. “They’re in and out. My mom goes on book tours. Dad is home more but since we’re older and don’t need to be home as much, he either goes with my mum or works more. It’s kinda cool. He was around a lot when we were kids.” He had a good family.
Y/N felt her heart flutter, it made her happy to know he wanted her around. If she was special enough for her to meet the family, that meant something right? “That’s really nice... They seem really cool, I’d love to meet them.” She said honestly as she finished up her meal. “Thank you for dinner, it was very good... I didn’t know you could cook.”
She was beginning to realize there was a lot that she didn’t know about Harry, but there were lots that she did know and loved. She could see the two of them going really far together, felt like the two of them really clicked and got each other. From day one they just seemed to get each other. He was great. She wanted him to know that, wanted him to understand how thankful she had been for the past month that they’d spent together. Harry had taught her so much about herself and what she wanted and showed her what it felt like to be truly adored and cared for. She decided that she would give herself to him tonight. She was already his anyway.
“C’mon. Let’s watch something else. Getting cold out here.” Harry wouldn’t be able to see many stars since it was getting cloudy out and he was more concerned with getting her in his bed and kissing on her for a while. They brought their plates inside and Harry left her in the bed as he went down to put the dishes away. He came back up to see her laying upside down, a smile rising to his face. “Alright, silly bunny. If you’re staying here, gotta be comfy, hm?” He walked to his drawer and grabbed a tee shirt of his. “You want boxers with this? Sweats?”
Y/N smiled and rolled over so she could sit up properly, looking at him with a raised brow. “Do I need them?” She asked with a raised brow, deciding that she’d be just fine in a T—shirt and panties. She decided to change in front of him, seeing as it wasn’t really much. Y/N took off her jeans and slipped off her sweater, pulling on his shirt and took her bra off from under it. She folded her clothes and put them off to the side as usual, climbing up into bed. Y/N could see the look on his face but she wasn’t sure why he was so surprised. It was then that she remembered that when they first met she would never do something like that. Now though? She was entirely comfortable around him, she could be naked all she wanted with him. He made her feel beautiful. “What?” She giggled, sitting up and crossing her legs, smiling as muffin came to get her pets and cuddled from Y/N. “Hi sweet girl.” Y/N cooed, scratching behind the kitties ears. It was here that Y/N felt most comfortable and most at home. With Harry.
It was odd. That he felt so comfortable with her. That this was normal and cool and comfortable and he was happy to see her on his bed.
“Nothing. I just like seeing you in my stuff.” Harry never had wanted anyone in his bed or his clothes and looked so comfortable. When he got into the bed, muffin ran off, looking annoyed Harry had interrupted her cuddles. He was quick with grabbing Y/N’s waist and hauling her to sit on his lap as he sat against the headboard, pulling her against him. “Mm. Hi.” He murmured. His kisses started at her cheeks and moved down her jaw, her neck. He bit down gently, knowing he couldn’t mark her just yet.  Not visibly anyways. “You look really good, wearing my stuff.” He muttered, hands not shy about going underneath the shirt and holding her hips. He had taken his shirt off before getting into bed. He usually always kept something on, even if it was a tank top. But there he was in sweats and nothing else and Y/N felt her heart in her throat it was beating so heavy. Y/N squeaked a bit, placing her hands on his bare chest and hummed.
“You look really good... not wearing a shirt.” She mumbled out shyly, relaxing into his kisses and touches. Her heart was so full, she couldn’t believe it. Here with him, alone with no worries at all. It was then against the world. They were untouchable together. Y/N let her hand tug at the roots of his hair, making him look at her properly again. She wanted to tell him. She wanted to tell him how she felt so bad, she didn’t want him to think that she just wanted him for sexual favors, she loved hanging out with him too. Y/N wanted to show him, wanted him to understand.
“Wanna make you feel good..”
Harry hadn’t let her touch him at all, in the sense of pleasing him. Sure, he had cum all over her but he hadn’t had her mouth on him. It had felt too intimate oddly enough. He was worried that no one else would compare if she never broke up with him. Now? All bets were off.
“Yeah... okay.” He murmured. “We can try that.” All other times had been no. “Just...” he was surprised at how eager she was to get in between his thighs, looking eagerly up at him as her hand rested on his waistband. Had she truly been this deprived? “Okay— okay, bunny.” He smiled. “Go ahead. Do you want me to tell you want to do or do you just wanna... explore.”
Y/N hadn’t expected him to agree so easily, of course she was eager to get his pants off and do as she pleased. She’d never done it before but she knew the basics. No teeth, take as much as you can, the tip is most sensitive. Y/N looked up at him with a bright smile, finding a place between his thighs.
“Wanna find out for myself...” She spoke with a blush, “want to see what makes you feel the best.” Y/N explained, hands moving to pull his pants down. She was met with his cock which was rather big even soft, but she could tell that he was getting hard just watching everything unfold. She had remembered how he said he liked a mess, so she gathered as much spit as she could and let it drip down onto his cock. Y/N kept eye contact with him, moving her hand to wrap around him gently, adding a little pressure when she got a positive reaction.
Harry could die happy. Already. His breathing got heavy as he looked down at her, spitting thickly on his cock and stroking him slowly, watching his face.
“Yeah... I like that.” He whispered as she got him messy. Spreading her spit on him, she looked lusty and excited to finally be touching him. He thinks perhaps this is the claiming rights. That she knew in her head that it was her cock now. Hers to lick and suck and ride whenever the fuck she wanted. Because there was no way he could say no to her now. “That’s good.” He felt himself get harder. It wasn’t difficult. Y/N got him aroused so easily. So perfectly too. She was a wet dream. “I’ve thought about this so many times.”
Y/N was happy to hear him react to her actions. He was always vocal in bed and she loved that, especially when he was stroking her ego. She let more spit travel down his cock until she felt him get hard in her hand, being bold enough to lick from the base to the tip. His moan was music to her ears.
“I love it when you make noise for me...” Y/N hummed, going back in with her tongue all innocently moving up and down his cock just seeing what he liked best. It wasn’t until she started focusing on that little spot right on his tip that she realized the power she held. She remembered the first time he pleasured her, how he was relentless and continued on doing exactly what made her twitch the most. So she did the same, sucking and licking at his cock, taking as much as she could at a time.
“Fuuuck me. That’s it, Y/N. Good girl.” Harry hissed. His hand was on her head, gently caressing her hair and watching her tongue lick over the spot and suck when she felt like it.
“Nothing is prettier than that mouth stretched around my cock. Hm— not until I get inside your cunt and make you feel it. But you’re doing so well. Driving me mad.” He muttered, helping her move her head down a bit lower when she felt like it. He gently fisted her hair, not pushing too hard but having a steady grip of it. He liked that bit of power he had even if he wasn’t using it yet. He loved having this type of power. She was suckling at the tip of his cock, tongue rubbing against the most sensitive spot. “You gonna let me inside of you today? Or not yet, baby?”
Y/N was very much enjoying sucking on his cock. It was satisfying getting a reaction out of him and his praises made her feel even more special. She was getting the hang of it too, felt like if she did this more often she’d be a pro, but she was just taking it easy and seeing where it went.
Her mouth popped off of him when he asked, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“You wanna?” She asked, feeling herself get all blushy. “I—I know you said it earlier but..” Y/N sat up properly but let her hand continue working over his cock. Of course Y/N wanted to let him inside. God, she’d been begging him to fuck her for weeks now and he was finally giving her what she wanted. It was her virginity, but she still felt special when he said he would be her first. She knew he would be gentle and would make it really romantic for her.
“I’ve wanted to for weeks. I wanted to fuck you the first day. But I had to wait and now... I can.” Harry wanted her pussy so badly. Of course he had fucked before but this was different. There was emotion and heat and everything in it. He knew that she would love it. “It’s up to you if we do or not, darling. I’m happy with your mouth on my cock. Can lick out your little holes too, if that’s what you’d like to do instead.” He offered. Y/N deserved that. The choice was hers. “I just want to be buried in you. S’gonna be so good. And then... I can take you everywhere. In my car, at the skate park behind the tree... I want to have you so many places. Mark them like that.” He purred. Maybe she would be adventurous with him.
“I—I want to.” Y/N nearly choked out from excitement, “I want it so bad.” Y/N knew that he’d take really good care of her like he always did. He’d make sure she was comfortable and make sure she felt beautiful and cared for and special and just all of those good things he always did. She understood that when having sexual for the first time you bond with that person in a way, grow attached. Y/N wouldn’t mind growing attached to  Harry because she already has. She felt like when he was finally inside of her, she could really show him how she felt about him, feel as close as humanly possible to him and feel entirely wrapped up in him. It was that level of intimacy... she wanted it so bad. She moved up so she was on top of him, straddling his lap with her clothes cunt pressed against his cock. “Want you to take me..” Make me yours. She wanted to add, but she hoped her eyes could communicate that for her.
“I will. Let’s get you prepped, hm?” Harry gently rolled them over so he was on top. He moved down her body, kissing over the clothes and stopping at her panties. Placing a kiss right over the mound, he pulled the panties down her legs to reveal her cunt. “Always wet for me.” He felt pride in that. Especially because she was always soaked and he barely had to do anything to get her that way. Granted, it was the same for him. “Good girl. I love this cunt.” He rubbed his cock against it as he moved back up her body. He had grabbed a condom and gently ripped it open, sliding it onto his length. One day he would do it without the covering but he wasn’t sure if she was on the pill or not. Didn’t want to ask. “S’gonna feel odd. Hurt a little, maybe but it’ll stop once I’m all the way in. It’s normal. Once I get going it’ll feel a lot better. I promise, I’ll make it good. I’ll make you cum.”
Y/N looked up at him and nodded, watching as he rolled the condom on. He was now properly naked and she still had her shirt on. He had yet to see her tits bare... they’d always done stuff with clothes somewhat still on. So she sat up and pulled her shirt off, she wanted to be skin to skin.
“Okay..” She laid back down and got comfortable, cupping his cheek as she looked up at him. Y/N didn’t think she would want to be doing this with anyone else, it was all so real. All the weeks that they’d spent together, every sexual act they did lead up to this. She gasped a little when he pushed in, squeezing her eyes shut a bit at the discomfort but it passed after a few seconds. Y/N softened, trying her best to relax. It was... an interesting feeling to say the least. He was slowly filling her up, touching places she’d never touched before herself. “H—harry..” She whimpered, arms hooking under his shoulders.
“I know baby. I know. S’a lot.” Harry knew it would be overwhelming. Especially because he was so big. She was quite tiny in the pussy and he knew that it would be uncomfortable at first. “Just hold on to me.” Pressing kisses to any spot he could reach, he was trying to soothe any discomfort as he finally sunk all the way in. A deep groan of pleasure left him as he finally did fill her up. She was clenching like crazy and it felt ungodly good, but he needed her to relax. “Just relax around me, baby. Know s’hurting a little bit, focus on how good it feels. You’re full of me, yeah? Feels good to be full.” He knew that would be a different way of looking at it for her. He hoped that this was going to be as good for her as it would be for him. “There you go, bunny. Relax yourself. Feels better.” He moved slightly and she whimpered again. “Want me to move a little? Get you used to it?
Y/N was taking slow deep breaths, trying her best to relax herself around him. She let out a happy whine at his kisses, loving how warmth sprouted wherever he placed them. She felt more at ease with them.
“‘m so full..” She breathed, “feel you in my belly, daddy.” She always thought people were joking when they said that it changed you chemically, but Y/N was definitely much more soft and floaty, more willing to listen to him. “Feels good.” She told him, letting out a little ‘Mhm’ when he asked if she wanted him to move.
“Oh—”
He hit a spot. She wasn’t sure what it was because she’d never felt anything like that before, but it felt so incredibly good. The more he moved the more she began getting used to the feeling of him stretching her out. There was something so erotic about the little noises she was letting out. So repetitive, every time he was hitting that spot deep inside of her. ‘Oh’ and ‘uh’ and ‘daddy’ with the whimpers, shaking slightly in his hold.
“That’s it. You’re taking it so well. Said you can feel me in your precious little tummy?” Harry hummed, hips gliding in deeper so she could feel the full effect of it. It was beautiful. He couldn’t get over it. She was giving him every little bit of her body. He was kissing on her and whispering sweet and dirty things. “Best pussy, baby. Feels so good. So right and wet... love filling you up. Gonna feel me for days.”
Y/N was overwhelmed with feelings. They seemed to keep flooding in the more she thought about how Harry was making love to her. With slow, long, accurate thrusts he was gently coaxing it out of her. The part of her that is human and was born to do this.
“Can go faster...” She breathed, wanting him to speed up a bit now that she had properly gotten used to the feeling of him inside of her. He was so good to her, so patient with her, and knew exactly what she needed in any given moment. They’d bonded so much and this was just solidifying it. They were very much going to be a part of each other’s lives. Y/N was a moaning mess once he got a rhythm going, writhing in pleasure beneath him. “It’s so— oh daddy!” She whined, clenching around him when he hit a particularly good spot. “You’re—” She wasn’t one to talk dirty, but she wanted to. She wanted to learn and be dirty for him.
Getting Y/N to babble dirty things was a highlight for sure. Harry was going faster now, harder. She was warmed up and ready to take more. He was fucking into her eagerly, whispering filth to her.
“That’s what I like. Precious little cunt clenching around me like that. You’re so hot around me too. It’s meant to be fucked by my cock, fits me perfectly inside of you.” He whispered, thriving off her whimpers and her nails digging into his back. “Are you going to let me fuck this pussy when I want it?” He muttered. Dirty talk but also a slight claim of ownership. “Let me bend you over or spread your legs open for me to slide in again? Cause... you’re a horny little girl. Been so needy for me and now m’obsessed with you and your pussy.”
Y/N was obsessed. She loved the feeling of having him inside her and knew she would crave it whenever she could get it now that she had it. She was thankful that Harry had made her wait, it felt so much better having him now than it would have ever before. It was perfect, absolutely perfect. She came with a loud scream of his name, squirming and writhing beneath him. Y/N swore she was in love with him, or would be shortly. Maybe he was right about the bonding thing, because now she couldn’t think about doing this with anyone else... Ever. He satisfied her every need.  All she could manage to do in her post orgasmic state was kiss all over his face, whimpering as he moved his hips every so often. She couldn’t believe it had finally happened and that he was actually able to make her cum on her first time. He was amazing.
Harry had known that their first time would be amazing but this was a whole other level. He was in awe of just how incredible it felt to be inside of her. The other sex he had had couldnt compare to that. Emotion in sex had been the key. It unlocked so many emotions and needs he hadn’t realized he had and he was gone for her. Y/N was his. Completely his. When they’d both calmed, he took care of her. Cleaning her up and picking up his shirt from the side to let her slide on. Giving her a water bottle from his mini fridge. It soothes him, taking care of her like that.
“S’the first time I’ve had sex in my room.” He admitted to her, pulling her close. “The only person I want to touch is you. So... you’re the only one.” He kissed her forehead. Y/N was ultra sensitive, he could see that her body was still shaky and she would be sore tomorrow. “Gonna run you a bath in the morning because you’ll be sore. I didn’t go as gentle as I should have. It felt too good.”
Y/N felt nice and floaty, every touch was welcome. She was like a little kitten, purring as he cleaned her up and gave her his shirt to wear. It felt so nice, to be completely wrapped up in his scent. She felt so safe, so warm and cared for.
“You’re the only one for me too..” Y/N murmured against his chest, nuzzling close to him. Of course he was the only one, she was just loopy. “A bath?” She hummed, “that's very nice, Harry, you’re so nice.” Y/N noses at his skin, sponging gentle kisses to his chest without moving her head all that much. “It’s okay... I felt really good.” She giggled, curling her leg around his. “You’re my best friend, you know that? I really care about you...” Y/N told him, getting all sentimental. Timmy has been her best friend for years but Harry... Harry had been there for her through all of this. Was so supportive and waited for her, even when she was being stupid. She felt like she loved him.
Harry really liked her but he didn’t know how to word it right. How to tell her that he felt attached to her and hated that she ever left him at all. For food or to sleep. He was selfish with her.
“My best friend too.” He promised. It felt more than that though. It felt like kisses and sex and honey and all the good things. Intense emotion that was foreign to his heart. At first he had genuinely thought it was heartburn but it was the overwhelming amount of affection he had for her. He felt like he could burst. It was incredible. He wanted her to be with him. He couldn’t verbalize that properly so, he was quiet and kissed on her gently. “Care about you so much. More than anyone.” That was the best he could do for now. “Can do that all the time, if you want.” He knew sex with her would be mind blowing always.
“All the time?” Y/N questioned softly, he would have to be careful with that offer. He knew better than anyone that she was  constantly horny, but Harry never said no so maybe he had met his match. Y/N felt properly relaxed now, feeling herself gently fall into a sleepy state. She knew now that they both cared about each other a whole lot, realized that the two of them were essentially exclusive, but putting a label on things now seemed too out of place. Y/N really wouldn’t mind, though everyone at school would be thinking Y/N left Timmy if she just started kissing all up on Harry at school. They needed to wait a bit and figure things out. “Good night, Harry..” Y/N hummed, knowing she’d be asleep at any minute especially with the sound of his steady heart beat lulling her to sleep. It always felt so comfortable with Harry, felt like she belonged whenever she was with him. Was this what it was supposed to feel like?
Harry stayed up for a bit thinking. Realistically, he knew he couldn’t just kiss on her at school. They’d have to sneak around for a bit. He didn’t mind if people talked shit about him but Y/N has a gentle heart and it would hurt her to be talked about like that. He didn’t want her to be hurting at all. He stroked her hair as she slept on his chest. It felt like much more of a big deal now. It wasn’t just child’s play. This was a real adult emotion and Y/N was victim to his affection. Not that it seemed like she minded but, still. It was a lot and he knew that.

Chapter 32
I had been letting myself sleep in as long as possible not only for the rest, but to help pass the time. I usually woke up around ten sometimes eleven depending on how late I had stayed up, but today my brain had other plans. I wake awake bright and early at five o'clock. I had only just gone to bed four hours ago so I figured I would be sleeping till noon, but unfortunately I was woken up by a dream. Most would call it a dream, but I called it a nightmare.
Because it was  a dream about me being married with kids, except I was married to Severus, not that I hate the idea, I just didn't need to be reminded of how that's never gonna happen. And of course my body loves to do this thing where once I'm awake, I can't go back to sleep. So I decided to just get up now and start my day early. I took my time showering, I even did a hair and a face mask, shaved, and styled my hair without magic, just to pass the time. I took my time figuring out what to wear and I even did eye shadow with my makeup. I brushed out my shirt adding a belt to my waist and looked out the window. The sun had started to rise and peak over the forest line. I looked at the clock and dropped my shoulders when I saw it was only six. "You have got to be kidding me, no way I did all of that in an hour." I said to myself. I was glad all my roommates went home for break, this allowed me some freedom to talk to myself and walk around in my underwear. I grabbed my coat, wand, and Lolita and headed out to walk around. I didn't really have a plan on where I was going to go, but i'd figure it out as I went.
I exited my dormitory and walked into the common room, I hadn't seen many Slytherins that stayed but every now and then we would cross paths in here. I walked out and down the hall not seeing anyone in the halls. It was kind of eerie being awake while the sun was just starting to rise, the school was so empty and quiet. I looked out a window as I passed by and saw the sunrise glistening over the lake, light hitting the water and the surrounding snow. I smiled at the sight and made my way outside. The snow crunched under my boots as I walked over to a bench that sat along the pathway. I sat down on it looking at the lake that was sparkling from the sun's reflection. A cloud of air could be seen every time I breathed out and I could feel my nose getting red. I really loved when it was cold out and there was snow on the ground, I wouldn't have come out here if it was snowing though that would mean it was too cold to come and read. And I could feel the warmth of the sun slowly stretching across my face and hands, spreading warmth on my cheeks. It was so beautiful I couldn't believe I went to school here. I barely even thought of Beauxbatons anymore. I smiled and opened up my book, unfolding the corner as I began to read.
About thirty minutes later I lifted my head from the book, hearing a noise, I looked to my left and saw the noise was the crunching of the snow under the new professor's feet. "Hello." I said smiling as he walked over, hands in his pockets, "Hello Y/n what are you doing out here this early?" he smiled looking out at the lake. "I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep so I came out here to read." I said scooching over so he could sit next to me. He smiled and sat down on the bench. "What about you?" I asked as I looked back to my book. "Oh just an early morning walk. I also could not sleep." I nodded and folded the corner of my page closing my book, "What are you reading?" he asked motioning to my book, I felt my cheeks redden a bit and looked at him and then back at my book. "Um this book called Lolita." I said smiling awkwardly. He hummed in response nodding his head with a smile. "Have you read it?" I asked, nervous of his response, I don't know why I was freaking out I mean there are so many books Im sure no one has actually read this, and even if they have its not like I support every decision made in it, but it is a bit awkward.  "No, I've just heard  of it." he smiled. We sat for a moment in silence, "So I hear you're a werewolf." I said chuckling lightly at the silly statement I made. He tensed up and bit and looked down at me, "And what leads you to think that." he asked in a bit more of a serious tone, but with a small smile. "Oh nothing just rumours, i'm only teasing." I said playfully, resting a hand on his arm in reassurance, he laughed along shifting in his spot. "Unless you are one, if that's the case then you are indeed way cooler than the last teacher." I joked, he reddened in the face a bit and smiled, "I can assure you I do not grow a tail." he assured me, laughing along. We sat and got to know each other more, he was a really sweet man and I could easily see myself being friends with him. We oddly had a lot in common too, we liked the same artists and movies, he even mentioned how he himself was not too potion savvy. We joked about many failed experiences in the subject.
"So If you went to school here, does that mean you went here with Severus? I mean Professor Snape." I said, shaking my head correcting myself. He sat up straight for a moment and looked out at the lake, he sighed and nodded his head. "Yes I did actually, we were in the same grade." he said, his face softening and his smile slowly fading a bit. I noticed the change in posture and tone and looked at him confused.  "Well what was he like? Was he mean like he is now? Did he bully you?" I asked trying to figure out why his energy shifted. He took a moment and cleared his throat. "No, not exactly." I kept my gaze on him, examining his facial expressions. "Did you guys fight or something?" I pried. "Yes you could say that, I had a group of friends, and two of us Sirius and James liked to pick on him often, I would try to convince them to leave Severus alone, but they'd never listen." he said leaning over and resting his elbow on his knees. Taken aback I looked away from him and to the lake. "That's horrible, what would they do to him?" I asked curiously. He took a moment pondering on what to say, "They would pick on him for being in Slytherin and would call him names and such." he confessed. I frowned and looked down at my hands. "Oh." I said quietly. "But Severus was a loner and he wasn't perfect either, but it's really not my place. James never really gave him a chance though, he bullied him from the start and would do it for fun and out of boredom sometimes." he added. I nodded and looked around at the snowy landscape thinking about it.
This would make a lot of sense as to why Severus was so cruel, he clearly had a hard life. It hurt my heart to think about him just trying to go about his day and some obnoxious boys decide to hurt him. I could almost cry at the thought and blinked hard to try and erase the thoughts from my mind. "But what did Snape ever do to them?" I asked, already predicting the answer. "Nothing. He was just a wallflower, associated himself with the dark arts and the wrong people and James saw him as an easy target." he admitted looking down at his feet. "Did they ever apologize? Or befriend him?" I also already knew this answer, "No, James died and Sirius was locked up." he said sadly, I rested a hand on his leg and smiled, "I'm sorry, even though they were bullies, I'm sure they were good friends of yours." I said kindly, "Thank you, they were, but i'm not sure if they would have even attempted to make amends, nor do I think Severus would have any interest in doing so either."  he said honestly, "Is Sirius still in Azkaban?" I asked, hoping I wasn't overstepping, I noticed a shift in his eyes when I mentioned the man's name. "No he got out a few years ago and is living in London." he said smiling. I could see a look in his eyes, I searched the blue spheres and tried to identify the look, "Does he have a family?" I asked trying to talk about him more, "No not really. I'm kind of all he's got left." his eyes flashed with a bit of sadness but stayed sparkling on the thought of the man, I smiled to myself when I realized why I recognized the look in his eyes. It was because it was the very same look I had when thinking about Severus. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make him uncomfortable so I just nodded in response.
I looked at his hand and noticed he didn't have a ring on his finger and looked up at him trying to figure out why he wasn't married. He was so nice and funny and handsome something didn't add up. "Why aren't you married? I mean a handsome man such as yourself you would think would have a partner and kids and stuff." I questioned cautiously, trying not to overstep. He laughed and blushed a bit, sitting up and leaning back on the bench, "I'm not sure, I just haven't met the right person I suppose." I nodded in agreement and just then I spotted a few students walking around inside. "I guess everyone's waking up, breakfast will start soon, wanna walk with me?" I asked politely, standing up and grabbing my book. He nodded and stood up as well, following beside me as we walked back inside the warm building and headed to the great hall. "So why are you here now? Why didn't you come when everyone else comes back from break?" I asked as we walked through the halls. "I guess I just wanted to get my room in order and hang out a bit in the school, it's a very nostalgic feeling, being back." he shared as we walked into the Great hall. We stopped at the staff table to finish up our conversation, I looked up behind him and noticed a dark professor glaring down at us, I furrowed my brows slightly, wondering why he would be so upset about this, but then I remembered what Remus had said, and although Remus maybe didn't participate he was still a bystander, and i'm sure Severus still held that against him, I smiled a little to myself thinking about how I could use this to my advantage. "Okay well I will catch you later at the firework show, it was lovely getting to know you and talk." I said smiling up at Remus, I kindly rested a hand on his arm and looked over to the now tense and fuming Severus, I could practically almost see the steam coming off of him, to anyone else he would look normal, but I could see it in his eyes, and his place fist he had clenched. I didn't understand why he was getting so angry with me fraternizing with Remus, he said so himself he didn't care about me that way.
When I looked back at Remus as he said his goodbye I could have sworn I felt a tug in my mind, a very familiar tug, like someone trying to pry their way in. Remus walked away and up to his seat, which was thankfully far from Severus, and I shot Snape a glare, I knew he was the only one that would be remotely interested in my thoughts and the look in his eyes only confirmed my suspicions. Two can play at this game I thought to myself as I slowly went and sat down where Luna and I had sat yesterday. I wasn't as good as him obviously and had just barely learned how to read thoughts without my wand. But I stared him down trying to get into his mind, it wasn't about reading his thoughts, it was more about making him aware he got sloppy and wasn't undetected in his attempt to read mine, I just needed to ensure he felt it. Which he confirmed when his eyes went from anger to hostility and then back to anger. I stopped my attempts and he glowered at me, I smiled and waved sarcastically and turned to the blonde girl that approached me and sat down. "Having a staring contest with Professor Snape or something?" she said, teasing me a bit. "What? No. I was just waving to the new teacher, I haven't got a clue why Snapes glaring over at me." I lied, which I felt bad doing, but Hermione and Draco were the only ones that knew of my feelings for Snape and I planned on keeping it that way.

dead dove: do not eat. steve sucks big time in this one. i’m not really sorry about it.
note: happy 6k followers to @sweeterthanthis !!! i love the idea of these prompts, they definitely did their job !! i was thrilled when i saw i got my quote of choice. this one’s based on ”i wish i knew how to quit you” from brokeback mountain (my favorite angsty husbands)
if the timeline is nonsensical in this - think 2 years post engame but no one's actually died! there is also some background starker but it's only mentioned twice. this is my first time writing for steve and bucky, and my first ~dark~ piece. it was definitely the challenge it presented itself as, and i’m super thankful for the opportunity to participate alongside so many talented witers!!
word count: 4.2k ; read time 15 minutes
Steve'd survived because of Bucky.
Bucky was the one that kept the fevers at bay, bought him medicine, nursed him back to health even when neither of them thought he'd survive through the night. Bucky was the one that dragged him out of the river, and left him alive on the bank.
Left him to wake up.
Bucky was the one that welcomed him with open arms when Steve was abandoned by the Avengers. Steve'd lost his home, his family - everyone and everything he had - when the world rejected him (the millionth time). Bucky was the one that came back. He'd lost his arm, his identity, everyone and everything he remembered - but he still ran to Steve without hesitation. No matter how far away they got, no matter what separated them, they always came back to one another.
They got together right after the fight with Tony in Siberia.
They'd found each other, and suddenly gained a future.
Steve had never... really pictured himself having a future. When he was younger, he accepted that he'd die young. A fever that wouldn't break, a cough that wouldn't leave, pneumonia he couldn't beat... Then he joined the army. He suddenly... had possibilities.
But there was still war, he was still fighting, and he was still in the line of danger every single day. It didn't matter if he was fighting Hitler, homophobia, Hydra, - someone was always gunning for him. Someone was always trying to get him killed. And it worked! He died! Crashed straight into the ocean and froze, for seventy fucking years!
Until someone had the audacity to defrost him, and yet again force him into the line of fire. Without really consulting him first. It was something Steve was slowly coming to terms with - he’d always be fighting, always be serving, always be protecting.
He’d been failing his job as a protector, lately.
+//////+
They all thought it was a bit weird, but then again, so is living with two men that look seventy years younger than they actually are. So is living with your coworkers. So is being a superhero. So of course none of the other Avengers said anything.
Not when Bucky started asking Steve permission for things - to get up from, and leave, the table after meetings. If he could get seconds during breakfast or dinner. If he was allowed to come on patrols or missions. Everyone just assumed it was a forties thing, or that it was just Bucky getting more comfortable around them. The dirtier minds of the group (Tony, Peter, Natasha) chalked it up to a kinky sex thing.
Steve saw it as devotion.
Bucky saw it as a way to keep him appeased.
See, Steve'd gotten more... irritable, lately. Every time Bucky got hurt on patrol, was in a bad position during a mission, needlessly volunteered to do something dangerous  - it pissed Steve off to high heavens, for no reason. It'd gotten significantly worse over the course of a few months, to the point where Bucky could barely breathe without Steve getting upset.
It came to a head one day when Bucky got pinned during a fight with New York's latest nuisance. He wasn't even supposed to be there, it was his day off, for fucks sake. But he'd heard the call go out, and suited up before following a few minutes behind the rest of the crew.
This particular species of big nasty™ (a xorrian dog? Thor had called it?) had an... upsetting taste for live, warm flesh. He popped up outta nowhere over Manhattan during the Friday morning rush, apparently scouting Earth for the next course in their Milky Way Dinner Service.
Bucky, self sacrificing moron that he is, was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just as Steve laid down the final blow, narrowly avoiding the alien's jaw, Bucky slid underneath it, shoving his hand between the soft plating of the monster's stomach. He reached in, single-handedly gutting the thing while Steve put a shield-sized dent in its skull.
Their foe dropped almost instantly, crushing Bucky beneath several tons of dead weight. None of them would have known he was there, either, if Tony hadn’t programmed life-sensing protocols in a new combat arm he’d gifted the soldier for his second anniversary home and Hydra-free. A signal went to Tony’s suit the instant FRIDAY sensed structural integrity issues, sending him a precise location.
“What do you mean he’s here, babygirl? We didn’t call him in.” The worry in Tony’s voice was apparent, calling the attention of the rest of his team. They were all intrigued, prematurely pulled from their celebrations of a fight well won.
“It seems that Sergeant Barnes is approximately twenty paces northwest of your location, and his elevation is slowly decreasing. Would you like a map of the area?”
“Uhh, no Fri. I think I know exactly where he is. Cap, get your ass over here!” His heart rate was increasing by the second. If he thought correctly (as Tony almost always did), Bucky was... underneath the alien. “We need to pick this fucker up, or flip it, or something. I think Bucky’s stuck under it.”
Steve’s blood ran cold. “Tony, what the fuck are you talking about? Bucky wasn’t part of the group today.”
Steve didn’t hide his anxiety well when it came to Bucky. Their team knew that he was Steve’s whole world. One more life threatening situation, and Steve might actually die from old age with all the years Bucky’d stressed out of him. FRIDAY sending a detailed ping with Bucky’s combat arm location didn’t do anything to ease his anxiety, either. He knew it was just like Bucky to do something like this - jump in without word, all act and no think. Try to help his team out and wind up crushed by an alien pet the size of a 787.
Peter was next to them, soon, ready to help get this thing off their friend. Together, they managed to drag Mister Beast-of-the-Week far enough down the street, revealing a very unconscious, very bloody Winter Soldier nestled in the asphalt.
Steve was on him in a second, picking Bucky up with both hands. Tony already had FRIDAY doing preliminary scans and sending them back to Cho and Strange. Initial reads weren’t terrible, all things considered, but he still looked like shit. He might be five hundred times stronger than the average man, but no one’s prepared to be stuck under 200 tons of pure xeno-reptilian mass. Not even Bucky Barnes.
His head rolled back freely as Steve picked him up, exposing an already bruised and swelling jaw. Steve’s breath caught in his throat, choking him on his own shock. Saved by the bell, Cho called Tony back immediately, sending for one of them to bring him to the tower surgical site immediately.
“We have to go, Steve. Let us take him, we’ll get him fixed. We’ve done it before. We can do it again. But you have to let him go.” Steve’s upward glance brought him Tony’s exasperated face. He was dizzy, everything felt like slow motion.
He didn’t register the movement until he saw it, watching Peter’s hands as they held him back. Tony took Bucky’s lifeless form, carrying him toward Stark Tower and away from the wreckage.
The wreckage he shouldn’t have been anywhere near in the first place.
The wreckage he wouldn’t even have known about if he didn’t beg Tony to be included in all mission alerts.
The wreckage he would have avoided if it weren’t for the martyr complex he’d had since birth. It might not be nearly as strong as Steve’s, but it was still there. Bucky’d always gone to obscene lengths protecting the people he loved.
Steve had a track record of doing a piss poor job of repaying the favor. He couldn’t save him from the war. He couldn’t save him from the train, or from Hydra. He couldn’t save him from Thanos. He couldn’t even save him from a stupid little skirmish downtown. No, from where he was standing, Steve’d fucked up. Big time.
He promised that day, he wasn’t going to let anything like this happen again.
+//////+
It was weeks before he was back to normal, and even then - Bucky wasn't entirely sure he wanted to leave. Not because he was still sore, or not feeling up to par. In fact, he'd been antsier and more ready to get back into the field than ever. He missed his friends, he missed the people he fought evil with every day. He missed sparring with Sam and going on runs with Peter, listening as Thor regaled stories about Old Asgard no one.. could quite follow. Missed the twice weekly calls from Shuri. But most of all, he missed his freedom.
Steve wasn't ready to give it to him.
When he woke up after surgery, Steve was right next to his recovery bed. He almost looked like he did back in the day - sleep deprived, worry lines forcing their way to the surface of his face. Vague frustration enveloped him, even when he met Bucky's conscious form for the first time.
Their first few conversations were tender, loving, but it didn't take long for them to sour.
Steve'd insisted on bringing Bucky back to their shared floor immediately after he woke. He allowed Cho to look him over, FRIDAY to scan him, everyone to come say hi - but he never let Bucky out of his sight. Not while Bucky was awake, anyway.
He slept a lot in those first few days. He was still healing, and while it might have been much faster than anyone expected, he was also recovering from what should have been several deaths over. He spent most of his time in bed, asleep, or talking to Steve.
Most of it was lecture, some was praise. How stupid he was to get involved on his day off. How much Steve loved him. How he wasn't allowed to go being a martyr like that again. How much Steve loved him. How Steve was going to do a better job of watching over him from now on. How much Steve loved him.
There was a lot of that, after Bucky woke up. How much Steve loved him. How important Bucky was to him, how much it meant to him that Bucky was alive and breathing and conscious and okay. Every time he got a lecture, or a reminder, Steve's hand was on him somewhere. His shoulder, his wrist, his face. His throat. Every time he spoke, he squeezed, just the tiniest bit. Not threatening, not even to force acknowledgement. Just.. Because he could. To the untrained eye, it was just physical contact.
Bucky knew better.
Bucky knew conditioning when he saw it. When he felt it.
Bucky also knew he was significantly more susceptible to conditioning than most people.
Bucky was fucked.
+//////+
Tony didn't think anything of it when Steve asked for handcuffs that could hold a supersoldier back. He, too, was a pervert with a genetically enhanced super-boyfriend, who was he to deny the Captain a little fun? He'd designed restraints Peter could use without breaking (or hurting himself!), why not share the love?
No one thought anything of it when Bucky stopped joining them on missions. Trauma has a different effect on everyone, maybe Bucky just needed time to process almost dying (again). No one would blame him for it. Hell, most of them encouraged his staying home.
None of them... really thought anything of it when he quit leaving altogether. They trusted Steve's judgement, and if he didn't think Bucky was ready to leave, then he wasn't. Bucky knew better than to defy him, too - just kept his mouth shut around "yes, Steve"s and "okay, Steve"s.
The conditioning didn't stop as he got stronger. He'd been back to 100% weeks ago, but Steve was still babying him. Carrying him to the shower, not letting Bucky bathe himself, or brush his own teeth. He couldn't dress or eat without help, go anywhere without asking. "I just want to keep you safe. I need to know that you're not going to get hurt." Steve's words remained calm, level, but his face betrayed the threat behind them. If you don't listen, you won't be able to leave at all.
Bucky'd learned the hard way that if he didn't listen to Steve, he wouldn't have a choice. He'd attempted to leave their floor by himself while Steve was out on a mission with Tony, Nat, and Thor - he got up early, showered, got dressed. His first taste of freedom in a long time, he was so excited to go see everyone again.
He was downstairs and halfway through breakfast with Bruce and Peter when Steve got back.
+//////+
Bucky couldn't remember the last time he'd seen the sun. It's a familiar feeling to him, one he thought he'd never deal with again. The isolation. The lack of control. The fear.
Steve initially hadn't looked mad. He let Bucky finish his meal, kept a distant but watchful eye over the group until the two others finished and moved on to their lab work downstairs.
Bucky knew he was fucked. He'd broken rules. He'd left their room without permission. Steve might not have looked it, but Bucky could feel the anger and disappointment radiating off him.
After that... He wasn't allowed to do anything.
No workouts, no missions, no patrols. No leaving their room. Steve'd used the restraints Tony made - had him thoroughly tied down to the floor below their bed. No internet, no phone. Not a single book or movie or boardgame in sight. Good boys don't require entertainment to behave. No eating - Steve'd placed a gastric tube down his sinus to provide nutrition. His muzzle, the one hydra'd used... Steve'd locked it over his jaw, and left it there. Good boys don't need to use their mouths - not to drink, not to eat. Not to talk back or call for help.  No using the bathroom on his own - he had a catheter replaced once a day, and Steve changed his bag as needed. Good boys don't get to leave the bed, not even if it's an emergency.
He learned to wait for Steve. Learned his schedule - early morning meetings with Wakanda, check ins with Fury and Maria, patrol a bit after lunch. Then, he'd come back, make sure Bucky's bag was empty and his feeding tube was flushed and clean before feeding him.
Steve allowed him to use the bathroom and shower at night, under incredibly watchful eyes. The restraints Tony'd made were long enough to stretch the entire perimeter of their room, but Steve kept him on a short leash. Bucky had five minutes total - shit, shower, shave. If he didn't finish in time... There's always tomorrow.
If he did, he'd get rewarded.
Steve'd wrap him up in a large fluffy towel, carry him to bed. He'd bring back the sweet little reminders, with his hand around Bucky's throat. How much Steve loved him. How this was all for his protection. How Steve wasn't going to let anything happen to him, ever again. How proud Steve was of him, for letting him return that favor, even decades later. How well behaved Bucky was, how good he'd been for Steve.
Steve was so different from Hydra, too. That's what made it so fucking difficult to resist the love bomb-type conditioning. He wasn't the torture type - didn't like the idea of doing anything he didn't have to. Steve didn't want to hurt him, and Bucky knew that. He found it harder to reject Steve's advances the longer he was locked in that fucking room, found it harder to discern whether or not he... wanted... to reject it.
He was Bucky's dialysis, and his drinking problem.
He was Bucky's oxygen machine, and the cigarettes he'd smoked to earn him one.
Steve could ask Bucky to do anything, ask him for anything... and he was powerless to say no. He'd tried.
+//////+
It'd gotten him a flick to the mouth, for his hesitation.
"When I ask you a question, love, you need to answer me. Do you understand?" The tears in his eyes nearly spilled over, sharp pain from his lips radiating into his nose and the corners of his eyes. He didn't want to answer. He wanted to leave. He wanted to run, to get the fuck away from Steve and the compound and everything.
"Yes."
"Yes what, angel?" Steve might've been good about keeping his emotions checked in public, but Bucky could tell he was smug. Gloating. He enjoyed this. What'd happened to the sweet kid from Brooklyn that could barely hold himself upright? Bucky missed him.
"Yes, Stevie. I’m sorry Stevie." Saying his name was painful. This wasn't his Steve. This wasn't the Steve he'd fallen in love with. Wasn't even the man that'd dragged him out from underneath that alien... How long ago? Months? Years?
Bucky didn't know anymore.
Didn't know why his friends hadn't saved him yet. Didn't know how his absence went unnoticed for... however long it'd been. Didn't know why he was struggling to be upset about it all.
Steve, observant as he was, could practically see the gears turning in the other's head. He cradled Bucky's face in his hands, drawing him into calculated eye contact. Bucky felt sick. There was something... wrong, there. Something Bucky'd never seen before.
"They don't love you like I do, Buck. They don't want you. They don't love you."
Bucky flinched at the words, physically recoiling from Steve's grasp. He knew it wasn't true, he knew... He thought it wasn't, right?
Steve's laugh pulled Bucky out of his own thoughts, bringing him back to the room in front of him. He had a display up, with various recordings of the rest of the Avengers. He flipped through them, muting and unmuting seemingly at random.
"... I mean, he's probably ditched us for Zemo again. Would that really shock you?"
"he almost died again. I don't blame him, i wouldn't want to be found eith-"
"-e can take care of himself, let's just give him time."
Steve waved the holo display away when he saw the first few tears fall. "Don't you see, Baby? They don't care like I do - they don't love you like I love you. No one will ever love you like I love you." Steve's words stung, but Bucky couldn't deny that they made sense. Of course no one was looking for him. He was unpredictable, still kind of an outsider. Why would they try to come find him? Why would they care?
Bucky's mouth moved before his brain could stop him.
"'m sorry, Stevie, please, I'm so sorry! I-I- I thought they cared, please, please don't leave me Stevie! I was so wrong, Steve please! Wish I knew how to stop, Stevie, but you know I can't. You gotta help me stop Stevie, I've been so confused, been tryin' to quit you Stevie but I can't. Wish I could quit you but I can't, I can’t be left alone anymore. Please, you can take my arm if you want it, Stevie. Take anything, take whatever you want from just please, please don’t leave me alone anymore!"
He was in hysterics at this point, unable to believe what was coming out of him. Was he really okay with Steve taking his arm away? Did he really love this Steve back? Was he just scared?
The worst part was that he couldn't tell.
+//////+
The smell of fresh coffee woke him before he was ready. His eyes burned, still dry after Steve refused to close the window before they went to bed.
Bucky would have closed it himself, but he couldn't actually reach that far.
They'd moved out to the cabin a few months after Bucky finally broke realized how wrong he was. It was a cute little place, big enough for the two of them but small enough to not draw attention if someone came upon it by accident. Not that they really could. Steve'd installed motion sensors five miles out, and had fully automated... solutions, in place, should any threats or issues arise.
They went entirely unused.
It really was a beautiful plot of land - they had a few animals, a cute pair of kittens to dote on and play with. He had enough room to move around, to sit in the sun or curl up in bed. He had plenty of books, games, anything and everything he could want to occupy his time, really. He had Steve.
And breakfast now, apparently.
Steve set the plate on the bedside table, gently sitting next to his lover and planting small kisses on his still shut eyelids. Bucky looked up and smiled, blushing at the hand that'd wrapped around his neck. He reached out, gently thumbing at the inside of Steve's wrist. Oh, how he'd missed this. Missed contact with his Steve.
He opened his mouth, accepting the bite Steve offered him. Steve always made the best pancakes, he thought, appreciating the hot meal hitting his tongue. He hadn't eaten this good in weeks. It was hard for him to cook without his arm, but Steve always provided. Steve cooked for them, cleaned up after them, made sure Bucky was sated. Safe.
He'd taken off for a mission nearly a month ago. A dangerous one, he'd said. One he might not return from for a while, he'd said. Bucky worried. He always did when Steve left, especially since he couldn't know where or why he was going. But Steve always came back to him. Sometimes, he was back in one piece. Once, he'd come home with an arrow in his stomach and several gunshot wounds. That'd been a... scary night. Another time, he came home with half of his hair singed off and his clothes in tatters.
Last night... Last night he finally came home, and he looked like shit.
He was covered in bruises, nearly 40 pounds lighter than he was when he'd left. There were holes in the shield, too large to be bullets but too small to be anything else easily recognizable. Some were through his suit, too - puncture wounds littering his chest and stomach. They were already partially closed, but he was still bloody.
There were still webs in his hair, too - Bucky brushed them away after Steve closed (and locked. always locked.) the door. He knew better than to comment. Steve was just protecting him. Steve loved him, he was doing what he needed to keep Bucky safe.
But that didn't mean it didn't hurt. That each time Steve left for a mission, Bucky cried himself to sleep. He thought, eventually, that the pain would go away. That the death of each of his friends would get easier, somehow. That the fear, the hope, of losing Steve would stop consuming him.
He'd just smiled, kissed his husband's cheek, and helped him strip down. He'd mouthed at the graze left on the side of Steve's neck, reverent in the presence that was his protector. Bucky'd developed quite the complex, in their time of isolation. Every time Steve came in - from cutting firewood, picking food from the garden, feeding the animals, or from nights like last... Bucky just couldn't stop talking.
About how he wouldn't be alive without Steve. How he'd still be a mindless slave for Hydra, killing innocent people under everyone's noses. How he owed Steve his life, a thousand times over. How he'd've been taken by Ross or Stark or Clint or someone, and locked away miles under the sea. He'd pressed them into Steve's jaw like kiss-coated secrets, like no one in the entire world knew these things but Bucky & Steve. Like they were bits of information to cherish, to chew on and savour before swallowing.
Steve just laughed, picking Bucky up and bringing him to bed. He followed shortly after, cleaning and patching himself up before snuggling right up to Bucky.
Sleeping was interesting, initially, but they'd adapted. It was easier to cuddle Bucky without his arm, but sometimes Steve woke up with his legs tangled in loose chains by the footboard. It was an easy enough trade, in Bucky's opinion. Give up his arm, give up a bit of freedom, and get a loving, devoted husband in return? One that would make him breakfast in bed, one that would hold him and kiss him and praise him whenever he needed? One that would kill for him? Die for him?
Bucky saw it as a fair enough trade, and if that meant their friends needed to die... He tried not to think about it.

Alive and Well Part 1- Jasper Badun x OC
Jasper Badun x Angela Young
Description: Angela reads the morning news and discovers that Cruella is dead, and Jasper and Horace have gone to jail for it. It leaves her with unresolved feelings for Jasper, but after getting a call from Artie, she realizes that they may not actually be unresolved.
Word Count: 1.8k
“You’re sure that it’s okay if I stay home today?” Angela asked hesitantly, twirling the phone cord around her finger.
“Of course,” Artie responded earnestly. “In fact, I think I may just close the shop a bit early today, business has been a bit slow, you know?” Both of them knew that that was a lie, but Angela was thankful that he made an attempt.
“Thanks Art, I’ll see you tomorrow then?” She questioned hopefully.
“I can swing by later tonight if you’d like,” he suggested.
“Nah, don’t worry about it,” she brushed it off. “Have a good day, lots of love.”
After setting the phone down, Angela took another look at the very reason she wanted to stay home. She picked up the newspaper carefully, as if it would bite her, and tried not to tear up as she read the headline.
                                      Cruella Up In Flames
A few hours earlier, the fire department received a call about a large house fire in the warehouse district of London, where it was discovered that it was the upcoming fashion icon Cruella’s lair. Just an hour before that, she had a flash mob showcasing her new work in Regent's Park, only to get run out by the police.
Angela’s heart broke as she read it over, and the next line didn’t help her in the slightest.
Police caught and arrested Jasper Badun and Horace Ethan for conspiracy to murder, though there was no body discovered among the wreckage.
She set the paper down, not being able to read anymore of it. It just didn’t make sense, just last night everything seemed fine. Everyone had a blast with the show and even discussed getting drinks to celebrate the occasion. Plus, that didn’t even sound like Jasper and Horace. They loved Este -or actually- Cruella, from how they talked about her, she was like their sister. Sure she had been very pushy before the show, but that doesn’t mean the boys just jumped to murder. That wasn’t them. It was the Baroness, it had to be. But she couldn’t prove that, besides, Cruella was dead and that was the end of it. And yet, how was she supposed to just move on as if the past few months of helping the icon meant nothing, as if they weren’t the best days of her life? She had no idea.
Just a few hours later she received a call from Artie.
“I need your help,” he spoke rather excitedly.
“Hello to you too, Art,” she responded amusedly. She heard the man laugh on the other end, and she could just imagine him shaking his head at her.
“Hello Angela. How are you doing? How’s the family? Is your garden coming in nicely? I need your help,” he retorted in the same tone as before.
“I’m as well as I can be. My mum got over that nasty cold and dad said hi. It is, but I’ll need more fertilizer soon. How can I help you?” Artie then gave her an address, telling her to meet him there for something important.
“What is it? I’m not going to get killed, am I?” She joked, smiling when she heard him laugh once again.
“Oh no, nothing like that love. Just get here as soon as you can. Lots of love!” He gave her no time to respond before he hung up. Angela only stared at her phone, confused. After a minute she shrugged and set it down, she had no reason not to trust Artie so she would have to get ready for the secret location.
Just an hour later she stepped off the bus and arrived at a nice looking house. She double checked at the address she’d written down then walked up to the doorstep, knocking nervously. After only waiting for a few seconds the door opened to reveal a bald man in a nice suit. Her eyebrows shot up a bit and she messed with the hem of her rust colored parka.
“Uh, hello. Is Artie here?” She greeted him awkwardly.
“Are you Angela Young?” The man questioned in a deep voice, to which she nodded. A small smile rested upon his face and he opened the door wider for her.
“Come in, my name is John. I am the owner of this house,” he explained as she stepped inside. “May I take your coat?”
“Oh, uh, yes please.” She, with John’s help, took her parka off and she waited while he hung it up in a nearby closet.
“Angela!” She heard Artie call from down the hall. She barely had time to turn before he hugged her.
“I thought I heard your voice love. We’ve been waiting for you.”
“We?” Angela repeated confusedly.
“I’ll go make you some tea,” John spoke before walking off to what Angela assumed was the kitchen.
“Come on,” the excited boy instructed, linking his arm in hers and leading her down the hall.
“Artie, what’s going on?” She questioned as she followed him. “Why are we here in a stranger’s house?”
“Just wait and see,” he responded before stopping in front of the doorway of what seemed to be the living room. She stared at him curiously for a minute before walking inside, then gasped.
“Jasper!” She cried out in surprise. The man grinned widely at the girl.
“Angela,” he exclaimed as the girl practically ran over to him. The two embraced, Jasper’s head lowering a bit to rest on top of her head.
“You’re okay,” she breathed out, now sounding relieved.
“You are too,” he responded in the same tone, squeezing her tighter. Angela wanted to cry, this time with happiness, but that would come later.
“I am too,” she heard Horace speak up from the sofa. That made Angela giggle as she (very hesitantly) pulled away from Jasper and faced him.
“I’m glad,” she responded kindly as she offered him a quick hug. “But what happened? I thought you two had gone to jail?” She questioned, looking around.
“Well, we were in prison, but then we escaped,” Horace explained.
“We had some help though,” Jasper added, now looking past Angela. That made her turn around, and her eyes widened.
“Cruella,” she exclaimed. “You’re alive.” Though she was happy, she found her feet were stuck in place. She was still rather upset about Cruella’s treatment of not only her, but Artie, Horace and especially Jasper. That made her smile fade, and the woman seemed to understand why.
“I know you’re probably mad,” she started, making Angela cross her arms.
“That’s a bit of an understatement, don’t you think?” She cut her off rather coldly. She could see Artie frown out of the corner of her eye, but she didn’t exactly care at the moment. Instead, she shrugged and began walking around the living room.
“I mean, now that I know what the Baroness is capable of, I want to take her down. Believe me, I do. But that was your goal before your ‘death’ and look what happened. You treated everyone like they were trash and beneath you, you acted as if Horace and Jasper hadn’t been there for you since you were children, and yet you still were ready to throw them under the bus to reach your goal. Hell, you almost fired me from a job I technically didn’t have! None of us were being paid for helping you, we did it because we cared about you. You didn’t care then, though. Tell me, what difference does it make this time around?” She stopped when Jasper reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder.
“Just hear her out, Ang,” he pleaded softly. “She’ll explain everything.” She stared at him for a moment going over her options. Eventually she sighed and faced the woman across from her expectantly. After a few minutes of Cruella staying quiet, Angela breathed out a laugh and shook her head.
“I’m leaving. Good luck with whatever you guys are trying to do but I’m not about to be a part of it.” She grabbed her bag, ignoring Jasper when he called her name. Just as she reached the door, she was stopped by Cruella finally speaking.
“I almost died,” Cruella started. “If it hadn’t been for John, I would have. It’s quite the eye opener, though I don’t recommend you try it,” she stayed quiet for another minute before looking down when Angela faced her once more. “There’s no easy way to say this. The Baroness is my birth mother, she gave me away to die. And then killed the sweetest woman, albeit a liar, who ever lived.” Angela’s eyes widened, and her shoulder slumped enough that her purse fell from her shoulder and hung from her elbow.
“We are in a kill-or-be-killed situation here. I can’t run, she’ll find me. You know she will, Angie,” she paused yet again then took a deep breath before looking at her. “I went a bit mad. I’m sorry. After all that’s happened with us, I can’t help but view you as my sister, and I know you’re the same way. Well, at least you were before I blew up. The point is, you’re my family. You guys are all I have.” Cruella gave her a desperate look, which made her close her eyes in thought. After a minute of silence Angela crossed her arms and exhaled deeply.
“God, you’re really hard to say no to sometimes,” she finally spoke, opening her eyes once more. A smile appeared on Cruella’s face and she stood. The two met each other halfway in a hug.
“Does this mean I’m forgiven?” She questioned, which made the girl laugh.
“Yeah, why not,” she responded as they pulled away. “So, what now?” Cruella’s sincere  smile melted into a mischievous one.
“I have a plan,” she spoke.
“Of course you do,” Artie responded teasingly.
“And you two are going to help me,” Cruella continued. Angela and Artie gave each other a look before facing the woman.
“A night full of fabulous and mayhem and possibly death.” Angela hummed in thought.
“Hmm. Check, check, I’m not quite sure about the death though.”
“It won’t be any of you,” Cruella retorted. Artie grinned.
“Continue.”
“The Baroness’ charity gala is this weekend. We’re going to need the home addresses and measurements of all the guests.”
“Easy,” Horace responded, petting Winky.
“You and Artie’s tribe of dressmakers, of course,” Cruella continued.
“Of course,” Angela repeated with a grin.
“A black cape, pots of paint.”
“Oh, yeah?” Jasper questioned with a laugh.
“Several boned corsets…” Angela turned to face the others with a playful smile.
“Should we write this down?” John walked in with tea for everyone, and Cruella’s smile widened as she looked around.
“Let’s get started then.”

Tape to tape - Chap. 2
Coops - High School AU
All credits for the world & the characters for @lumosinlove. I’m kind of sad that SW is ending but luckily there’s still Coast to coast left and 12 days of ficmas isn’t far away.
I wrote this fic(of a fic) before the last chapter was out. In case someone hasn’t read it yet, I won’t tell any details but I have to admit that the ending was far better than I could have hoped for. I was literally jumping up and down after reading that❤️
Happy reading!
_______________________________________________________________________
Tw: child abuse (not direct but definitely implied)
In the three months that Sirius had known Remus they had gotten pretty close. Sirius had to admit that he enjoyed being with Remus but he was rather surprised that Remus seemed to also like his company. You see, Remus was one of those people who was rather popular with his peers. Remus had adjusted to the team quickly and found his place easily. Of course there were some people who didn’t like him but he didn’t care about them. Luckily Remus had found his place within the better people in Sirius’s opinion.
Sirius on the other hand couldn’t usually come along with people like him. Or rather people like him didn’t like Sirius’s closed off nature. Remus seemed to be an exception. They had spent a lot of time with each other in practice and school as they shared the same French class and usually paired together in training and he hadn’t (yet) gotten sick of him.
Autumn was finally starting to blend into winter with temperatures dropping and sun rising later each day. This also meant Sirius’s birthday was getting closer. He didn’t really enjoy his birthday as it didn’t come with any special occasion in his family. Somehow his parents seemed to be even more annoyed by him around his birthday which resulted in Sirius getting a few punches more than usually. Especially his father seemed to consume rather impressive amounts of alcohol around this time as well.
Previous years he hadn’t had anyone who genuinly wanted to wish him happy birthday and pay attention towards him. Of course his teammates wished him happy birthday but they didn’t really notice his sullen mood and certainly didn’t bug him about it.
”Sirius, are you sure you are okay? It’s just that you seem a little quieter today than you usually are.” Sirius was stretching in the gym with Remus. They had already figured this routine that worked well for them. They both liked to stay and stretch well before showering so why not do it together?
”Yes. I’m fine.” Sirius answer came out maybe a little harsh but on his defence he was tired and just wanted to get to his bed and sleep. This wasn’t the first time Remus had asked the question and somehow it was getting harder and harder not to lose his temper.
”Okay, I believe you. I was thinking, we could maybe do the run together that we are supposed to do over the weekend. Since your birthday is on Sunday maybe tomorrow?” Remus asked.
”I think you should go alone this weekend. I’m going to be pretty busy.” Sirius said while l lying on his back and stretching his thigh.
”Oh. That’s alright.” Remus sounded a little upset and they sat in silence for a few moments.
”Are you really fine Sirius? I mean you just seem-”
”YES! I am fine, Remus! Just stop asking. Please.” Sirius let out a shout. He closed his eyes and sighed little. What are you doing? He is just worried. Sirius rose from the ground and walked to the locker room for the showers. He hoped Remus would say something but the silence wasn’t broken.
One shower later Sirius packed up his gear and headed outside. After a quiet drive Sirius opened stepped inside his home. He tried to be as quiet as possible getting to his room but apparently he wasn’t quiet enough. He heard his father calling for him from his office. Sirius knew he had no choice as he slowly turned and headed for the office.
When Sirius gained his consciousness the first thing he registered was how much his head was pounding. The second thing was how his back ached. The third thing he registered was the bunch of little sniffs he was hearing. He felt how something tickled his nose.
Sirius opened his eyes to see a tiny black puppy with wet eyes on his bed with him. It was sniffing at him before it curled up next to his head. They looked at each other for a while before Sirius properly processed what he was seeing. He slowly raised his hand to pet the little ones head. The puppy let out a tiny whine and pushed against his hand.
After a few pets Sirius started to wonder how the puppy had gotten there. That startled him awake. He was sure that he had locked his door before he had passed out here.
He rushed to turn around to see the whole room and search for any danger. When he looked at the door it was still closed and locked. Wait. Can this puppy teleport or something?
In the soft glow of the desk lamp Sirius’s eyes landed on the boy sitting on his desk looking at him. He frowned. How did Remus get in here?
”If you are wondering how I got here, I climbed through your window. And no, no one saw me. It is already dark outside.” Remus said quietly.
Sirius coughed before answering. ”I see.”
Remus looked at Sirius face. Sirius knew that he propably looked bad. He could tell that he had at least a black eye and his lip was split. There might be other bruises but he wasn’t sure.
Remus got up from his place on the table and walked into Sirius’s bathroom. Sirius could hear the sink being turned on and a while later Remus emerged with a wet cloth in his hand. He sat next to Sirius, scooped up the puppy from his side and dumped it onto Sirius’s lap.
”It wants attention. Can you pet her?” Remus asked as he raised the cloth to wipe at Sirius’s lip. Sirius’s breath hitched at the contact but he still started to pet the little puppy on his lap.
They stayed quiet while Remus cleaned his face from blood. After he was done he got up to take the cloth back to the bathroom. Sirius concentrated on the puppy and holding it close.
”You don’t have to talk about it. You don’t have to lie to me, but remember that I am here.” Remus said quietly when he came back. Sirius lifted his gaze from the floor to see Remus looking at him.
”I- umm…” Sirius hadn’t talked about this before with anyone. He trusted Remus with his whole heart but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to bear Remus with the knowledge of it.
”I’m not sure if I can.” Sirius’s voice was shaky when he spoke.
Remus nodded understanding. ”You don’t have to. But if you change your mind I’ll be here. Always.”
”Thank you Remus.” Sirius scooted to lay against the wall with the puppy on his lap. It had gotten comfortable to Sirius’s presence by now so it was play-attacking his hand and whipping its tale around uncontrollably. He felt the bed dip with Remus weight as he got up to retrieve something from his jacket’s pocket.
While Remus wasn’t looking at him, Sirius let himself tear up a bit. He finally felt like the universe was paying back for all the shit it had given him over the years. He had finally found someone who cared about him, and who Sirius cared for as well. He hadn’t known this was something he needed but now that he had it he didn’t know how he had survived without it. Now he couldn’t help but dream about more.
Sirius quickly wiped his eyes as Remus sat next to him. He took the puppy from him but exchanged it with a little present.
Sirius’s eyes shot up. ”Happy birthday Sirius.” Remus said with a small smile.
”Oh, you didn’t have to get me anything.” Sirius answered little unsure of how to handle this situation. He hadn’t received gifts in years.
”I know but I wanted to. Now, go on. Open it.” Remus assured Sirius while holding eye contact.
Sirius whispered an okay and proceeded to carefully unwrap the present. He let out a wet laugh when he saw that the wrapping paper was hockey themed.
Inside the wrapping paper Sirius discovered three chocolate bars. One was regular, other one was dark chocolate and the third one was filled with mint chips. Sirius was tearing up again.
”I wasn’t sure what you liked but I thought, how wrong can I go with chocolate?” Remus laughed a little worried as Sirius didn’t say anything. ”These are from my favourite brand. If you like these, we’ll have to try their special winter edition. They change the formula every year, you know. I heard rumours that this year they’d do one with gingerbread.” Remus started rambling as Sirius still just stared at the chocolates.
”I- Thank you, Remus. This is the best present I have ever gotten.” Sirius glanced at Remus.
Remus flushed a little. ”Oh. Well good. Though I doubt this is the best one you’ve got-”
”Trust me. It is.” Sirius said and opened the regular chocolate bar. He broke off two pieces and handed one to Remus.
After they had eaten a couple pieces in silence Sirius opened his mouth looking at the puppy now asleep on Remus’s chest. ”So. I didn’t know you had gotten a puppy.”
Remus petted the puppy and smiled. ”This one actually isn’t our own. You know my parents are vets, right?” Sirius nodded. ”Well, now that we have fully adjusted to life here they have gotten back to their usual antics. When we lived in the States they used to bring sick animals and ones that needed to be fostered back home all the time. They had to take a brake from that hobby for a while but yesterday they brought this little guy home. He was found on the side of a highway abandoned.” At that Sirius frowned worriedly and Remus grabbed the puppy gently and laid it on Sirius chest. The puppy nuzzled contedly and fell back asleep.
”After I couldn’t reach you all day I decided to come check on you. When I got up to leave she woke up as well and wanted to come outside with me. I didn’t want her to wake the whole house up with her small barks so I just scooped her up and put her in my pocket for the walk.” Remus told him.
”My phone must have died. I’m sorry I didn’t contact you. I didn’t know you even wanted to reach me.” Sirius muttered.
Remus shook his head. ”If you think I the little argument we had after practice is enough to scare me away, you are very wrong. And stop apologizing. It’s not your fault.”
”I’m sorry, I’ll stop-” Sirius was quick to apologize.
”Sirius!”
”I’m sorry- NO, I mean okay. I’ll stop.” Sirius stammered.
Remus laughed a little. ”Okay. Good.”
They continued talking for about half an hour after that. They talked mostly about puppies to avoid any uncomfortable subjects. The clock was nearing 3 a.m.
Sirius yawned loudly.
”I think I should go. We should both propably get some sleep.” Remus yawned as well.
Sirius stretched under the covers. ”We propably should.” And threw his hand over his eyes.
Remus rose from his place where he was sitting on top of the covers. Sirius watched him walk over to his desk and put his jacket on. After that he reached inside his pocket where he pulled a dark brown beanie that he put on his head.
Remus turned around eyeing Sirius suspiciously. ”Where is the puppy?”
Sirius cracked a smile at that. ”I don’t know what you are talking about. I haven’t seen any puppies lately.”
Remus walked over to him and suspected his form beneath the covers. Sirius knew what he was looking for but he still blushed a little. Remus grabbed one corner of the blanket covering Sirius and yanked it off of him. Sirius quickly turned to cover the puppy sleeping near his side. Sirius started to laugh as Remus tried to reach the puppy but ended up tickling him. Remus smiled brightly at the sound but despite that he dove on top of Sirius to reach the puppy. He managed to grab her and turned with a wolfy grin towards Sirius. They both froze at that since their noses were almost touching each other.
”You found the puppy.” Sirius breathed out.
”That I did.” Remus said as he rose from the bed. He composed himself quickly before turning back towards Sirius who was pulling the covers back on. Remus held the puppy in front of Sirius’s face and smiled a little. ”Say bye. Now you’ll at least have a reason to start visiting.”
The corners of Sirius’s mouth lifted as he looked at the puppy. ”True. I’ll have to come see this little one.”
Remus slid the puppy into one of his coat’s inside pockets and walked up to the window. On the way he shut off the lamp leaving the room to be lighted up by the moon. He opened the window and raised one of his legs onto the other side.
Sirius took a breath in. ”Remus, thank you. For the chocolate. And for bringing the puppy.”
”It’s alright. I hoped you’d like them.” Remus said quietly. ”Good night. Text me when you wake up.” ”Good night.” Sirius whispered as Remus climbed out the window and slid it shut. Sirius burrowed deeper underneath the covers and let his eyes close. In the quiet darkness Sirius noticed how he could still smell the puppy and a slight tint of chocolate.
That night Sirius didn’t dream of pain and flying punches but of brown curls peaking out beneath a beanie and small puppies. When he woke up he wasn’t sure if last night was real but at the sight of chocolate on his desk he let out a relieved sigh.
Chocolate really is good no matter what time you are eating it. He thought as he munched on a piece while texting Remus.

Coping, Part 3
( previous. )
Characters: c!Tommy, c!Ranboo, c!Techno, c!Wilbur, c!Phil Word count: 1885 Content: dissociation tw, unreality, broken bonds, broken trust, healing, hurt/comfort, sbi family feels, found family, dead!wilbur, revival mention
-----
Tommy already misses the days when he could sit in the back corner of his little dirt shack and dissociate. He misses when he could pretend reality doesn’t exist anymore, and it’s just him and himself in a sea of nothingness. Today though, Ranboo is sticking to him like glue, much to Tommy’s annoyance.
He can’t even bring himself to be too mad though, because the alternative is going back to Techno’s cabin and facing him, and Phil, and Wilbur. Tommy knows they’re inside. Every time they pass by the cabin, their voices carry outside, filled with laughter, and sometimes a concern that Tommy doesn’t miss.
He’s jealous. He wants to be in there with his father and brothers, he wants the feeling of safety, but Tommy doesn’t remember what safety feels like anymore. Sure, Ranboo offers some sort of comfort and stability, but Ranboo isn’t safe either. Tommy is well aware that on a moment’s notice, Ranboo could easily snap and attempt to kill him.
Not that he blames Ranboo; it’s not his fault he’s under Dream’s control.
No, it’s best that Tommy keep his walls up. He doesn’t want to speak to anyone in his stupid family, no matter how left out he feels. They all hurt him personally, and he’s tired of it. He’s happier in Ranboo’s ugly house, with Ranboo’s pet cat. Enderchest is the closest to safety he knows.
He doesn’t know how long he’s spent in Ranboo’s house. By the time Tommy finally lets himself come back, it’s significantly darker, though he wonders if that’s because they’re in a snow biome, and the days are already shorter. Poking his head out the window, Tommy allows himself to get lost in the shades of purples and pinks in the sky before Ranboo is shaking him again.
“Tommy, you’ve been avoiding that place for ages,” Ranboo points out. “Almost the entire day. I gotta kick you out soon.”
The teen grumbles in response, turning back to Enderchest. She lets out a quiet meow as she nuzzles into his hand. “I could just easily go home. I’m not needed here.”
“You and I both know that the second you make for the portal, they’re just going to grab you again.” Ranboo sits next to Tommy, letting out a sympathetic sigh. “I know being here isn’t ideal for you, and they’re trying to give you space, but they do mean well.”
“What would you know?” Tommy snaps. “You weren’t personally betrayed by all three of them, one right after another. In fact, they did the complete opposite with you. They gave you a home. You have a place to go, you have people to rely on.”
“Come on, we had such a nice talk earlier,” Ranboo points out. “You and me talked about this already. They love you. They want you in their lives, they just suck at showing it.”
“Yeah, we did talk about that. But I also seem to remember telling you that I’m not ready to talk to them.” He scoops Enderchest up and holds her close to his chest. Normally, he’d rather have a dog, but right now, Enderchest is doing more wonders for his psyche than anything else is.
“How long do all four of us have to wait for you to be ready? Because this is a really slow pace.”
“Bitch all you want, memory boy. I’m focusing on myself for once.”
“No, you’re relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms to get by, and I’m kind of getting tired of watching you do it. You had a couple of days already, the least you can do is go inside.”
“Why do I have to leave your house? You’re nicer than Techno is.”
“Technically, because they’re the ones who kidnapped you. I think they’d want you around them instead of me, and besides, Wilbur’s in there.”
“Wilbur’s a fucking ghost,” Tommy mutters darkly. “His opinion doesn’t exactly count for much right now. Selfish bastards, the lot of them.”
There’s no verbal response from the enderman hybrid. Tommy continues to pet Enderchest, taking comfort in the way she purrs and squints up at him, completely content in his arms. In this moment, he envies her. That feeling of utter contentment and safety is a foreign feeling to him, and right now, he wishes he were a cat. Someone holding him so carefully and lovingly must be nice.
Well, it’s nice until Ranboo pries her from his arms. Tommy’s initial reaction is to start crying, reaching back for her, but before he can grasp her fur, Ranboo is hauling him to his feet, nearly lifting him up off the ground.
He feels like he’s throwing too many tantrums lately.
It’s hard to combat though, because everything is too much. Reality aches. Physically, emotionally, mentally, everything in between. He can feel himself being walked back towards Techno’s cabin, where he’s urged inside and handed to someone else. Tommy cries harder when he feels a pair of arms wrap around him, holding him close.
“I thought you might want him back for the night.” Ranboo’s voice sounds far too distant for his liking. “I’m going to go back home, and.. yeah. Just call me if you need anything.”
There’s that sound of a door closing, taking all of Tommy’s hopes with him. The arms around him don’t fade away into nothingness, and neither does Tommy’s mind. The utter lack of dissociation this time is more confusing than anything else. There’s an unfamiliar warmth in his chest as he’s picked up again, cradled in someone’s arms.
“Tommy, I am so very sorry for what happened to you.” The voice above him sounds weird. Logically, Tommy knows it’s Phil. It’s Phil’s arms, Phil’s voice, and Phil’s concern, but there’s a crack in the voice that sounds very unfamiliar; he might as well be a stranger.
“No you’re not,” Tommy forces out. “No one ever is.”
“We are.” That’s Wilbur’s voice. “Do you know where you are right now?”
“No.” He closes his eyes. If he can’t see them, they’re not there. Pretending he’s back at home is far nicer, anyway. In his fantasies, Enderchest is there as well.
“You’re in Techno’s cabin,” Wilbur continues. “You’re in Phil’s arms, and Phil is talking to you. So am I, Wilbur.”
“You’re dead,” Tommy counters. “What you have to say means shit.”
“Tommy, please open your eyes and look at us.”
“I don’t want to.” In spite of himself, he’s burying his face in Phil’s chest. That unfamiliar warmth is growing warmer, almost achingly so. Tommy recognizes it as a feeling of safety, but he wants desperately to push it back down. He doesn’t want to feel it with this lot. They hurt him. “I hate all three of you.”
“Do you really hate us?” Techno’s the next to speak up. “Or did you convince yourself of that because of everything that happened? Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re just saying that to be stubborn.”
That’s enough. Tommy’s eyes fly open and he wretches himself away from Phil to strike at Techno. It’s not a hard hit, but it’s hard enough that Techno reels back and rubs at his shoulder, with wide, almost hurt eyes.
“You don’t get to be upset,” Tommy snarls. “You don’t get to look sad, alright? You don’t get to hurt me over and over again, only to be sad when I decide to work on my own terms. Why do all of you suddenly love me again? Where were you when Wilbur went crazy and blew up L’Manburg? Where were you when I was exiled? Where were you when L’Manburg fucking died for the last time? Oh, that’s right, you were doing the blowing up. Save your fucking sadness, Techno.”
There’s another long pause, similar to when he was in Ranboo’s house. This time, Tommy doesn’t have a cat to comfort him or keep him steady. He has his own shaky breathing, trembling hands, raw anger and...
and...
...and Techno wrapping his arms around Tommy, ruffling his hair and whispering in his ear. Techno, saying that their family is too broken, that Tommy is carrying too many burdens and that he finally deserves a break.
Of course he breaks.
Instead of slipping away this time, Tommy crumbles into a boneless, sobbing mess in Techno’s arms, crying harder than he ever remembers crying. He’s desperately clinging to his older brother, grasping weakly at his sleeves and hair, afraid to let go. Letting go this time means Tommy will dissociate, and he’s so, so tired of escaping into a fantasy, when he finally has comfort.
He wails when Phil lifts him again, pulling him away from Techno. Of course Tommy shifts to cling weakly at Phil, feeling smaller and more vulnerable than he did seconds ago.
“We’re going on vacation,” Phil says. “We’re going away from here, just the four of us. We think this place, and the SMP, carry bad memories for all of us, and we think taking you somewhere completely new will do wonders.”
“Don’t leave me again,” Tommy whimpers. “ Please, please just don’t leave me again.”
“Phil knows someone who can help me,” Wilbur interrupts. Tommy can feel Wilbur’s hand on his head now, so he leans into the touch. “You know how Phil is ancient? We can go somewhere far, far away, meet new people and forge new memories.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Tommy’s throat is starting to ache now. He’s spent, wanting nothing more than to sleep. At the same time, he just wants to enjoy the comfort. He feels like Enderchest, safe in someone’s arms with that stupid feeling of safety. He’s not pushing it away this time.
“I can be revived, safely.” Wilbur sounds like he’s beaming. “Phil knows people that can help, we don’t need Dream or anyone around here. We can also learn to heal and become a family again.”
“You promise?”
“Yeah.” Techno chuckles. “We’re all fucked up, but we’re together, right?”
Tommy nods, letting his eyes close again. He’s tired, and dimly, he can feel himself being rocked.
“Sleep, my child,” Phil whispers. “We’ll leave soon, alright?”
“You’d better not leave me behind ever again. I can’t handle it anymore.”
“No,” Wilbur confirms. “None of us are ever getting left behind again. We’re a family again, and I personally promise you’ll heal. Just promise all of us one last thing, alright?”
“What’s that?” Tommy cracks an eye open to peer at Wilbur.
“No more unhealthy coping mechanisms,” Wilbur says. “Ranboo was messaging us all day, saying he had to keep a close eye on you. If you want to heal, we’ll all heal together, but you have to stay with us, alright?”
“Get me a pet and we’ll talk.”
“Tommy, I have dogs. I have so many dogs, I could give you ten dogs and it wouldn’t matter. You can have a dog, just pick one.” Techno starts laughing.
“Not tonight.” Tommy nuzzles more into Phil. “I just want to be with you.”
Phil coos. “That, we can do.”
Okay, so maybe Tommy isn’t a cat, but he’s a sixteen year old boy, and he’s feeling safe for the first time in months. Broken family, broken trust, whatever. He’s starting to feel like he’s home again.

The whole package (Diego Hargreeves x Fem! reader)
A/N:  Okay, I'm finally catching up with the requests... And how exciting that they have already confirmed the third season of Umbrella Academy!!!!
Words: 2,115
Request:   Hi! So I saw your requests are open... here goes one! For Diego from TUA: he starts dating this girl, and after some time she decides that it’s time for him to meet her little daughter. I think he would be kind of wary around her at the beginning, but he would eventually warm up to her and ve just so soft around her? Anyways, I think that at the time he would introduce his girl and his not by blood but in bond little one to his siblings, they would see what a natural softy papa bear he is💕
Tumblr media
The couple is in the small room that he rents in the gym where he also works. Both lying on the bed, Diego slowly strokes her hair, while Y/N traces her fingers on his chest.
"I've been thinking," says Diego.
"Oh no. That’s never a good sign,” the girl jokes and Diego makes a face.
“Anyway, I was thinking,” he continues, “we’ve never talked about meeting our families.” Y/N's body tenses. She moves away a little and sits next to him.
"I thought you didn't want me to meet your family." He raises his eyebrows.
"Well," Diego scratches his head. "I'm not excited, they are insane, but..." He looks at her. "Wait, don't you want to meet them?"
"If you say it's a bad idea, I don't see why making it so important," She responds, looking away.
"I think you are the first girlfriend I’ve had that doesn’t want to meet my siblings, not even my mother," he suspects.
"It's not a big deal, Diego," She says.
"We've been dating for over a year now, don't you think we should at least talk about it?" He sits up.
"Why do you suddenly want to do it?"
"Why are you getting defensive?"
She opens her mouth, but the words get stuck.
“Do you have something against my siblings? Believe me, it's not something that would surprise me, Vanya's ex-boyfriend is proof of that, but I want to know if something happened–"
“No, I don't know them, Diego. It's just that- if I meet them, it means that you too will want to meet my family.” She bends her legs and hugs them against her chest.
Diego feels pressure on his chest when he sees her in that defenceless way.
"Hey," He grabs her chin. "Is there something wrong with your family? I thought you simply weren’t on speaking terms with your parents..."
"I am, but, they have a good reason to be upset."
"What are you afraid of?"
"You won't want to be with me anymore," She says with a pout.
Diego frowns.
"What? Why do you think that? I’ve done everything to be able to go out with you, blood, sweat and tears..."
"I'm serious."
"Me too! Honey, I can assure you that there will be nothing that can scare me or keep me from your side. With the family I have, nothing can do it."
She bites her lower lip.
"I don’t know..."
"Trust me."
Y/N sighs and reconsiders the possibility. She remembers everything they've been through together since he tried to flirt with her after that fight at the gym. The determination of man to get her attention.
She admits that Diego is a great man, tender, protective, funny, responsible, a little clumsy and stupid, but in the end he always manages to make her smile despite the fights. And after he has confessed everything that had to happen with his family, she knows that there are no more secrets.
“Ok, but you should know that this is a huge step for our relationship. I've never gotten this far with someone else."
He’s surprised to see her so serious but doesn’t push his luck.
"I'm ready for the whole package, baby."
***
"Last chance to go, Di," She says when they both arrive at her apartment door.
“No matter how much you say it, I won’t leave. You won't have a pet spider or something like that right?" He jokes, but when she doesn't answer, the nerves grow. "Tell me please, at least it's not a tarantula–"
"I don't have a spider," She says rolling her eyes.
He opens the door and the two enter. Y/N leaves the keys on a small table and walks through the small apartment.
"Daisy?"
Diego stares at the place. He pauses at some picture frames and laughs when he sees one of his girlfriend as a little girl with a ball in her hand, smiling at the camera showing some a gap between her teeth.
"Mommy!" the high-pitched scream makes him turn quickly, only to witness the moment when a little brown-haired girl runs into Y/N's arms and she carries her. "You’re early, I must show you the best drawing of my life!"
The woman laughs.
"You said yesterday's drawing was the best of your life."
"Mommy, that was yesterday!" replies the girl moving her hand from one side to the other.
Y/N puts her down, but before the little girl could leave, her mother takes her hand and crouches down to her height.
“Daisy, I want you to meet someone first. Do you remember what we talked about yesterday?"
Daisy looks up and finds Diego standing next to the television. She turns away from her mother and walks slowly towards him.
“Hi, my name is Daisy. Are you my mom's boyfriend?"
Diego isn’t sure of what to do.
"Uh, yes?" he says nervously.
The girl asks tilting her head and then goes back to her mother. "Are you sure it's him?" Y/N laughs and walks over.
"Daisy, this is Diego. Diego, this is my daughter Daisy."
The man comes out of his shock and begins to notice the great similarities between the girl and his girlfriend. She is the girl in the photograph.
"Uh- Hi," he says tensely.
"You're good?" Y/N asks.
"Yes! Yes, I'm okay. I’m just surprised. Uh, you look a lot alike."
"Can I go get my drawing now?" says the girl and his mother nods.
"Sure you're okay?"
"Sorry, I'm not good with children," he says nervously.
"Don't worry, she's only 8 years old."
"They're the worst."
"Diego!"
"I'm sorry," He sighs. "Wait, were you afraid that I would break up with you because you have a daughter?"
"It wouldn’t be the first time. Since she was born every time I mention the possibility of a child, everyone runs away and I didn't want you to do it."
He takes her hand and with the other, he caresses her cheek. "I'm still here and rest assured that I'm not going anywhere unless you want me to."
"Aren't you scared?"
"Yes, but not because of what you think," He grimaces. “You know I didn't have a good childhood and I’ve never dealt with children. What if she hates me?"
Y/N laughs when she sees her boyfriend's nervousness and feels one less weight off her.
"I will not lie to you, she can be difficult sometimes, but she will love you."
"Difficult, huh?" He says raising a brow. "Just like her mother."
"Don't try to win her over as you did with me, she’s not as patient with idiots."
"At least I have a clue," He leans down and gently kisses her lips.
"Ew, stop kissing!" The girl screams. "Leave my mom alone!"
"Daisy, don't be rude!"
"Okay, now I see the resemblance."
***
"Diego, your hands are sweating," says Daisy wiping her hand on his pants.
"I'm sorry. I’m nervous."
"Why?"
“My family’s crazy, Dais. I don’t know what will happen."
"Are they dangerous?"
"Do I look dangerous to you?"
"No, actually I think you're just dumb."
"Daisy!" Her mother scolds her and Diego laughs.
"Yes, so are my brothers."
The three arrive at the academy, before opening the door, Diego stops. Y/N take his hand. "Everything will be fine. We’re with you."
Daisy's little hand takes his again. Diego opens the door and the three enter the large Hargreeves mansion.
The first thing they hear is the echo of heels approaching. Grace approaches the little family with a huge smile.
"Hello, darling," she says, opening her arms and Diego surrounds her in a big hug.
"Hi, Mom," He stands aside and smiles. "These are Y/N and Daisy."
The woman greets both with a hug.
"Diego has told me many good things about you."
"You don't look like a robot," says Daisy.
"Daisy!"
Grace laughs.
"That's the idea, sweetie. Would you like to try the cookies I just baked?" The girl's eyes light up, but before she can respond, she looks at her mother asking for permission, when she nods to her, she turns to Diego and he, surprised, also nods.
"Yes!" She squeals and takes Grace's hand, the two of them walk into the kitchen.
"One less," says Y/N.
"She didn't worry me," Diego answers, grimacing.
"Son of a bitch!"
"That’s the real problem."
Another scream echoes through the house and then a thin, brown-haired man runs up the stairs and reaches the two adults.
"Diego! Hello, how nice to see you after such a long time,” He says, trying to control his breathing. "Oh, you must be the mistress, nice to meet you!" He says, taking her hand and shaking it exaggeratedly.
"Klaus..." growls Diego.
"What? I'm being nice, just like you asked."
Before anyone could say anything, a blue light flashes behind Klaus, scaring all three of them.
"Give me back my money!" The boy mutters.
"Five! What are those manners? We have a guest!” says Klaus pointing to Y/N. Five frowns and looks at the girl.
"Oh, yeah. Hi."
"It's a pleasure to meet you..." She answers a little unsure.
"I only asked you for a day without nonsense!" Diego sighs.
"Oh, they’re here!" says a woman coming down the hall.
"She's Allison," Diego moves away from his other two brothers who are already fighting again.
“Hi, it's a pleasure to meet the girl Diego talks about so much. You really don't know how tiring it is!"
Y/N laughs.
"I still remember when you said that no girl would make you weak and look at you now, blushing like a little boy!"
"I did not say that."
"That sounds like something you would say," adds his girlfriend and he blushes even more.
“Anyway, where are Ben and Vanya? They are my last hope..."
"Why is there so much noise? What's going on? Who are you?" says a very tall blond man.
"I guess your ape brain doesn't remember that we have an important dinner today, Luther," says Diego through clenched teeth.
"Uh, yeah. Hello.” Luther shakes her hand.
"They’re so many," Y/N whispers to Diego.
"And there are two still missing..."
"Hey, I don't want to scare anyone," Allison says. "But Ben is arguing with a girl in the kitchen."
Allison, Diego and Y/N go to the kitchen, while Luther notices that Five and Klaus are fighting, so he stays to break the fight.
"The movie is better!"
"How is it better? I tell you, the book is much better!"
"I don’t like reading. It's boring."
"That's not my fault."
"It's not my fault that you're boring either."
"Listen to me, girl–"
"Ben," says Diego. “Are you arguing with an 8-year-old girl?
"She started!" He points out.
"Vanya, why didn't you tell them anything?" Allison says looking at the girl sitting at the end of the table.
"I did, but no one paid any attention to me, so I just waited to see what was going to happen," She shrugs.
"Di, your siblings are very strange, but your robot mom made us chocolate cookies" adds Daisy taking one from the plate and offers it to her mother.
"Daisy, you said you were going to be good," Y/N says taking the cookie.
“It was Ben's fault. She said the Harry Potter books were better than the movies."
"They are!"
"It’s not true!"
"Very well family, dinner is served," says Grace entering the kitchen.
The entire Hargreeves family reunion with Y/N and Daisy was anything but boring. Y/N is delighted with Allison's style, Five's intelligence, Klaus's ideas, Vanya's calmness, Ben's acquaintance, and was even able to see something good in Luther, with whom she had less interaction.
She’s happy to meet her boyfriend's family, especially seeing how her little daughter laughs, discusses and interacts with everyone. It seemed very natural to be with so many people and she’s sure the Hargreeves felt it too.
"Everything went fine after all," She whispers leaning towards Diego at the table.
“You’re still here. It's what matters,” He says with a lopsided smile.
"Oh, I don't think Dais wants to leave soon," They look at the girl who listens carefully to something that Five’s explaining to her. "I'm glad she gets along with everyone… it's always been just her and me."
Diego takes her hand.
"That ended. You will not be alone again."
She smiles at him and kisses his lips.
"Ew!" yells Daisy.
"No demonstrations, please," says Luther.
"There are children here!"
"Some of us are eating!"
"How cheesy..."
“Get a room!”
The others continue, making the couple laugh.
"I can't believe you're still here after all this circus," says Diego.
"We’re ready for the whole package, love."
