TLDR: my activity over the next week or so will probably be spotty. taking a small semi - hiatus but i'll still be lurking / writing from time to time but. just don't expect too much. i'm going to rant a little under the cut so forgive me, you don't need to really read it i'm just on the verge of crashing out and i need to vent, thank you.

my mental health at the end of 2024 wasn't great ( honestly all of 2024 was very hard for me ) and now with the state the US is in and having pretty much no way to leave or anything is freaking me out. the last few days all i've wanted to do is play LADs or honkai and watch youtube as a distraction. my spoons are low and i'm on the verge of tears what feels like every other hour so. with that being said i need to be honest with myself and say 'hey. you need a break'. so, for the next week or so i'm going to be sporadic with activity. i may only post one reply a day or none at all & i'm sorry but i told myself i'd be more real with myself and give breaks to myself cause well, this is a hobby & not a job. i've been pretty consistent with activity for a while and going into 2025 i told myself i'd take breaks and only write when i feel good so this is me sticking too that.

it's just . . . crazy to be acting like nothing is wrong and everything is cool when it's not. i feel bad for trying to distract myself but also, as a queer / non - binary person all this news and shit is exhausting and taking a toll on me mentally. all i've wanted to do the past week is cry and rot in bed. and i will be damned if i let that orange man steal away my happiness. i want to stay informed but also protect myself mentally when the past year has been so hard on me. i have depression, anxiety & ocd already. constantly exposing myself to scary news is just draining me entirely. it doesn't help that i live with my grandparents who are trumpies. but i don't have the means to move out so, i'm kinda stuck here.

idk. i just wanted to write this down somewhere so i could get it off my chest. if you read all of this post, thank you. you didn't need to.

I bitch a lot about the bad writing for the women but I assure you the feelings are mutual for the men.

Shinichi and Kaito's misogyny and sexism are something is find incredibly painful about their characters and there are actions committed by the both of them that I would never forgive if they weren't fictional characters.

For Kaito it's how he harrasses Aoko. The skirt flipping and sharing the colour of her panties is awful and I don't care if it's a "product of it's time" as it should have NEVER been a product of its time. And the anime has been remade twice and both times they include him doing this to her. And with Gosho making the movies canon too, which we see with him including more and more movie things into the series, that means him trying to grope Ran was also canon...

For Shinichi his treatment of Ran is beyond gross but there is a thing he's done that is just as gross as Kaito's behaviour and that's trying to keep a picture of a sexual nature (Ran's boobs taken without and then given to him without her permission) that she asked him to delete and he tried to save it instead. That is unforgivable and when I saw that in the anime I was beyond creeped out. He has also tried to get into the bath with Ran again, but this time on purpose knowing that it would be wrong to do so.

There are probably more instances with the two of them but these are the ones at the top of my head.

Now I am completely aware these are tropes meant to be funny in nature but as a woman I can't find them funny. They make me feel gross. How the author writes and treats women in his series is beyond appalling to be honest, but this is the standard for many anime and manga too, and he's not the only one doing so.

You're probably thinking "if she's so disgusted why does she keep consuming the series?" and I don't blame you for thinking that way, but I'm just being critical of a piece of media that I otherwise enjoy a lot and if I stopped consuming stuff I had problems with I would end up with nothing to enjoy because everything has problems. I just want to vent my feelings in my personal blog about how frustrated I am with the writing of these characters at times.

Look, I fucking like the TV shows I get into. I also, admittedly, tend to get a little parasocial with the actors. None of y'all knew me back when X Files was on the air, but back then I was only limited by the fact that social media and the internet (as we know it today) didn't exist.

BUT, Jesus, it is still all just a tv show. These things, with these particular people, aren't happening in real life. They don't even actually exist.

I can't imagine writing all the things these people wrote (without vomiting) and then forcing it on innocent people. I can't imagine commenting to actors with vitriol. (I can't say I've never commented on Lou or Kenny or Oliver's posts, but not with some BS. Usually some dumb lol comment)

Allow me to rant a second if you please 🙏 been sitting on this for a while now but the thing i need most for sonic movie 3 is for Sonic to grow into his game self a lil more, give me that unrelenting confidence and cockiness, I don't want Shadow constantly beating him into the ground (which i feel like is gonna happen anyways T-T) like what happened with knuckles, I don't want them all teaming up to fight Shadow coz he's too powerful or whatever, Sonic has never had trouble going one on one with Shadow before, Shadow very rarely beats Sonic in a fight, or it's at least a draw, it's also one of the big reasons Shadow has such an issue with Sonic, coz he can never properly beat him when he's supposed to be 'the ultimate lifeform' and it's honestly one of my fave things about their dynamic. I know movie Sonic is very different from game Sonic, he's a lot less experienced and all that and I love him dearly he's my precious bby boi but I think it's time for him to really start growing into that confident, super sure of himself, unrelenting hero that we all know and love. They really need to stop nerfing my boy, let him grow a little, it's His World after all ;)

Alright, I need input on something, just to get closure, and I feel like I am driving myself crazy over something that probably isn't that big of a deal. The reason why I make this poll under the cut:

Some time ago, like in the last year, year and a half maybe, I had joined a strike through lfg for OLC, and the only thing that the comm had listed was for the players to be experienced.

To me, experienced meant "knew the mechanics of the fight" and "unlikely to die if something got messed up via weirdly timed mechanics"

So I joined. This commander was complaining about people joining and ditching on the first wipe they got. Felt a little sketch, but I was still relatively new in terms of joining lfg for daily strikes. So I thought I was imagining things.

As someone who's still new and relatively inexperienced (and frankly horrible at build crafting), I thought just knowing the mechanics and following the commander should have been enough.

With this comm, apparently not.

The moment we started, they were demanding to know what my comp was in the middle of the fight. Maybe I just can't multitask in these types of games, but I cannot type and fight at the same time, because any moment spent typing is less dps I'm outputting. So I didn't respond.

I got told after we wiped that I should go back to the training tab in lfg (which, even if I agreed - which I didn't - no one was doing once a strike had been out for a couple of months, and therefore no chance of improvement otherwise, considering my schedule), and had rattled off numbers that I had zero knowledge of knowing. (According to what they were rattling off, I was apparently doing 3k dps on a very poorly built virtuoso, which I was quickly corrected by a trusted friend where the fault was. That's what happens when you put a soloist with no prior experience into endgame content, who also was unaware of certain etiquette with joining squads)

Am I crazy for blocking and reporting that person for being what I thought was misleading in their lfg post? Because, if experienced meant "must have a meta build" even though I barely had resources to even have ascended armor (which turned out to be the wrong stats), then not a lot of people are going to get the experience of endgame content like that (obviously in regards to people who want that experience)

Edit: for further clarity, this was for daily normal run OLC (priority strike that day I think), so idk why this comm was so worked up over a fairly new-ish player not being full meta 30-40k dps, esp someone who was never into endgame content before

Edit 2: Don't be afraid to tell me I'm in the wrong. I made this poll to get perspective for myself. I have since grown from this, and while it was a hard experience for me to go through, it was an important lesson for me - as a newer endgame player - to get a better understanding of the endgame community and the expectations

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr

I love these two. They're some of my favorite EXEs.

I'm so tired of all the hate that these two get.

If you don't like these two, that is completely fine. If you don't care for their creator due to the past allegations/drama. That is ALSO completely fine.

But the majority of the hate that these two get can be summed down to the following things;

1: Both of them are trans (Curse (left) is a trans man, NormalCD (right) is a trans woman)

2: Curse is a femboy

3: NormalCD is plus sized

Like, just say you're a bigot and go away. Don't make it everyone else's problem. Don't act like those parts of their characters are their entire character. That is not the case, that's just what you've made yourself believe cuz you're big dumb.

(also, let's not forget, the OG Sonic.exe canonically has a romantic obssesion for Sonic. LGBTQ+ EXEs are NOT and have NEVER BEEN out of the ordinary.)

There are PLENTY of EXEs that (intentionally or unintentionally) aren't scary (I mean have you even READ the original Sonic.exe creepypasta????)

So no. They are EXEs. And they're some of my favorites. In a fanbase where the majority of characters created are either a Lord X, Faker, or NeedleM0use clone (and this is coming from someone who absolutely adores those 3, mind you), these two are some of the most original creations to come from the fanbase, and I love them so much.

Like yes I realize fictional others are just that — fictional. But often times the feelings FOR them are often so real that seeing other people ship with them can at best sting a bit or at worst make someone completely spiral.

If you’re comfortable sharing, that’s fine! However, that’s not to say you should look down on others who’re non-sharing, who often times do so just for the sake of peace of mind. You shouldn’t belittle people who dislike sharing or imply they have to share because that’ll be a better option for them. And furthermore, if you have opinions like that, for the love of God don’t voice those concerns publicly where potentially, your non-sharing friends can see it and feel like you’re badmouthing them.

I’m not saying you should immediately worship the ground non-sharers walk on. People can agree to disagree, but even if you don’t understand someone’s beliefs or feelings, you should at least respect it, so long as it isn’t harming anyone. I don’t know how that’s so hard to understand
