In your Balloon Circus Story, would BB World return? I think it would be cool to see BB World actually coming back in newer games, the way Princess Quest came back in SB but just in case that's not what happens I'll settle for hearing what your awesome AU would do with it :D

I 100% WANT IT TOO!!

The theming is PERFECT for its return, and also 2 me it's a pretty important game since I like to believe that it's basically Gregorys Princess Quest, that being the game that set him free from the virus- or on the flipside, being the game that introduced him to the virus.

I'd love too add it to the plot somehow- make it important to the story. Buuuut I haven't found a way to do that yet,,, so for now it's one of the arcade games you can find down in the area where Faz Ent dumped the Pizzaplex stuff- a mysterious game that surprisingly still works, despite not being plugged in for years now.

I want to do more with it- maybe make it part of Cassie's plotline, with all the clown/balloon theming and all- maybe it somehow helps set her free from the Mimic. But for now, it's just another mystery below the circus.

If/when I figure out what to do with it there's a good chance I'll reveal it pretty soon after because I love BB World soso much I would be incapable of keeping my mouth shut if it became super plot relevant in Balloon Circus LMAO

And I also would LOVE to see Balloon Boy World return in later games- seeing how important Princess Quest ended up being is just- Like- the whole arcade conspiracy- Balloon Boy World mysteriously disappearing and ending up in the DA's room without anyone(besides the arcade conspiracy guy) finding it, and the whole glitched out area/ending with Eclipse and it saying "good night" before the game closes, and in Ruin having the roof in the DA's room turn into Eclipse with the corrupted sky when in VR mode. Chica's Feeding Frenzy being said to stay on even after being unplugged and the workers having doubts that the residual charge could last so long, and then having it give you Chica's voice box when beaten in Ruin, and then using said voice box to fix Chica. And EVERYTHING ABOUT PRINCESS QUEST!!!! Not to mention GGY putting such a heavy focus on arcade machines- and the logs talking about someone sneaking in and playing the arcade conspiracy games and then us literally NEVER learning who that was???

It's all soso interesting there's SO much we don't know about the arcade conspiracy that I'm DYING to learn more about and I SO hope they get explained soon- seeing it be brought up again in a future game would be a dream come true,,

Of course I have my own interpretations and theories, but there's obviously something being planned here- there's so much set up and so far we've seen no pay off and I NEED to know what's going on!!!! Especially with BB World cause that game has like the LEAST explanation out of the three- we get the whole glitch world and "good night" ending and the roof in VR mode but we don't get anything from the game itself like with CFF and it doesn't do anything major like the PQ ending, but we still have to go on a scavenger hunt to find it- and we can't even play it in Ruin, but it has a weird glitch effect coming out of the screen- like BB World is so mysterious and it and PQ are the games I need an explanation for the most There's just so many questions left unanswered and they plague my mind almost constantly I'm banging on Steel Wools doors and begging for answers I NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING,,,,,,

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and you see chunks of concrete being pulled from above, preparing to smash against the floor, where your family is, and you can't move.

Imagine being the fastest thing alive, and you can't move your legs and all you can do is reach out your hand to your family, who seemed so close yet so far away, and is about to get crushed by concrete.

Sonic, of course, saved his family from the concrete boulder, thankfully, but I often think about the moment before he saved him.

Despite being stuck onto the floor, it didn't stop Sonic from curling into a ball, managed to dash off from the high gravity floor with a burst of speed, and smashed the boulder to bits to save his family. He was not ready to witness another family member get injured, or worse.

He was not ready to lose another family again. He won't. He's not going to let it happen. He lost Longclaw, he's not gonna lose anyone else. And because of his will to make sure it won't happen, he managed to get unstuck and save them.

Everything about the small little moment with Sonic drives me insane watching the movie a second time. And you wanna know why?

Because someone close to him got hurt anyways.

OK so heres some of my favorite things that were talked about during the enter the florpus commentary thing yesterday:

one of jhonen's favorite things in the whole movie is the writing in zim's kitchen that says "do anything is real?"

they clarified specifically that gir was not lying and he did in fact eat a baby at the crazy taco

gir smells REALLY bad. theres like rotting organic matter in his body at all times. he stinks

zim's human suit is made out of actual human skin

zim is acting drunk on nacho cheese during that scene in his house because richard horvitz recorded it while drunk

they planned to have this whole thing with tak's ship only agreeing to go to moo-ping 10 because it knows tak is there. they wouldve shown her in silhouette during that brief explosion and she wouldve stowed away on the ship without anyone knowing and then wouldve shown up towards the end of the movie, but they decided to cut it out

zim did not need to frame membrane for a crime in order to get him into space prison and likely just tossed the guards like 5 bucks for it. its a shady place. they did specify though that if he did frame him for something, it would have been jaywalking

they pointed out during that scene where zim is celebrating peace day on dib's lawn that zim's reaction to seeing dib was very much genuine and that's just how his brain works. he is genuinely surprised to see him pop out of his own house. (they also described his reaction as like "being surprised to see your best friend")

the ham joke was ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL to the film and at some point jhonen remembered it and was like GUYS. WE ALMOST FORGOT THE HAM

there was supposed to be this joke where it cuts to and from gaz and dib in tak's ship and they would've had to stop at like a warp station or something and theyd be waiting in a long queue of spaceships and the radio is broken in the ship so theyre stuck listening to that one song. then itd cut to them like totally braindead drooling from listening to it for so long. and then a little later itd cut back a FINAL time and theyd know all of the words and both be singing along to it. but this was also cut out so only the last bit remained

when asked "who would win: minimoose or mrs. bitters?" the answer was along the lines of "neither, i think all of us lose in that scenario"

the tallest are just two dudes who happen to be the same height and therefore have to share the same job. they are not brothers and they are also not gay lovers ("as much as you want them to be, they are not. there is no love in this universe")

skooge is in fact alive and lives in zim's basement. they wanted to keep the number of "hey remember this thing from the tv show!" moments to a minimum so he was not mentioned in the movie. but he is there

the pangi stream is an absolute fever dream 😭 he opened with talking about corrupting his essay file, logged on the server, advocated for drunk driving, canonized mpreg tr!pangi, tried opening the end portal, got stopped by an admin who literally had to dm him on disc to get him to stop, started a bit of getting this one 16 year old in his chat into realms (they started a youtube channel and said they'll lock in, which is actually sweet but like. dude.) and is now talking about caring for his viewers on a parasocial level. what the fuck LMFAO

I've been following @druidposting's DR2 playthrough on discord and we just had a really good discussion about DR's Closing Arguments. Specifically the way the murderer is depicted as grey and featureless, which until now I found a bit annoying.

In Danganronpa it's repeatedly the case that we don't have the full picture until the talking actually stops- which always goes beyond the end of the trial. We generally vote first and come to understand what the murderer's actual motive was, sometimes filling in important pieces of the timeline in the process, afterwards.

But none of that matters for the killing game because characters' emotions aren't directly relevant to who was the 'blackened'- the only thing that matters to Monokuma- so it comes out afterwards and does nothing to change their execution. It doesn't matter how sympathetic they are (basically everyone) or whether other people share responsibility for the situation (eg. Hanamura, Pekoyama, Momota) or whether they intended to murder at all (Nanami). They objectively pulled the trigger and nothing else matters. Nothing about them as a person matters.

The Closing Argument mechanic might illustrate that problem- literally. They're a dramatic, conclusive summary of the entire case... constructed before the vote even happens, before we know if we're actually right, and they're missing something really important:

The actual perpetrator.

We quite literally don't even begin to see the real person behind the crime, any real exploration of their mental state, anything besides the cold, hard facts of the murder that are necessary to convict them, until the comic finishes and the protagonist makes their final accusation- replacing the grey figure with their real appearance in a shot that's often intensely emotional.

And these comics lack crucial parts of the case's timeline and sometimes important parts of the very scenes they depict that we only find out about afterwards. And those are what we know; characters may die with some pieces of the truth and prevent us from ever learning them. These aren't objective depictions of the murder, they're the protagonist's subjective attempt to connect the facts they have. A join-the-dots portrait of someone with missing dots and no colour.

Even characters' expressions may not match how they truly feel, with the grey placeholder potentially looking way more confident and sinister than they were in reality. Pasting Falter's commentary here since they put it well.

For obvious reasons this could especially be a problem for characters that die before the trial- the ones we never get a post-vote testimony from. DR1 chapter 4 really highlighted that in the way Asahina's huge misinterpretation of Oogami's feelings took up a lot of the post-trial discussion, only for Monokuma to reveal Oogami's real suicide note and recontextualise everything.

It might really be a problem for how Komaeda's depicted in DR2 chapter 5. While he isn't greyed out, we get panel after panel where he's either level-headed or maniacally evil, and even the depictions of his self-torture and death don't humanise him:

But we know that his real feelings were more complicated than that. We have his actual corpse to compare the last page to.

He died afraid.

If we approach the comic as Hinata's mental image of him instead of reality, he died without anyone truly understanding him. He was alarming, very hard to relate to, actively fought against people doing so, ensured even the killer didn't watch him die, and the survivors couldn't begin to understand his motive until a chapter later. The Closing Argument reflects that.

Early in DR1 Togami calls out the rest of his class for judging others by their own standards. However, he, too, is doing this, maybe more so than many other characters; his inability to view other people through anything but the cold, brutal logic of the killing game bites him in the ass in chapter 4. In DR2 chapter 2 voting without a good understanding of Pekoyama's motive or Kuzuryuu's involvement nearly got everyone killed. Komaeda's a walking embodiment of the problems with flattening people into caricatures and not empathising with them, suffered from people doing that back to him, and his case- the Closing Argument for which turned everyone else into grey placeholders- was impossible to solve with objective facts. It was only survivable because the survivors cooperated and one person tried to analyse things the way he would.

The games have always been a critique of the justice system and Japanese society and push us to care about others as individuals, not reduce them to- and judge their right to exist by- something they've done or their net impact on society. There are always consequences when someone neglects to do that, and the above might be yet another way the games explore that theme.

personality-wise she's kind of a weirdgirl, but she tries to play it off as being aloof and cool. and she's known for being promiscuous, a delinquent, for drinking and partying... so her status as a nun + her stellar reputation at the temple might take one by surprise!

even more surprising, probably, is the fact that she joined the temple on her own, without any input from sydney. why? who's to say :)

as for her interests, she has a genuine love for theology. she likes history and literature. she also likes drinking and dancing and getting way too intimate with her friends (though she thinks nothing of it. she has chronically poor boundaries).

she's also extraordinarily catholic despite being quite bad at it. sad little gaygirl full of so much catholic guilt... that's not gonna stop her from sinning though ofc! <3

You know, for as much as I joke about Grace and Wolfgang having had sex (and it apparently being confirmed by the team too), I'm actually genuinely intrigued if that will be plot relevant later. I've seen some people talk about Grace potentially being pregnant (and side eyeing Wolfgang's corpse too which LMAO). That may sound way out there and a stretch, but it's actually not that unbelievable, surprisingly. The animal that Grace is associated with is the rabbit. Rabbits are known to represent fruitfulness, lust and fertility due to their rapid reproduction. And in Christianity they also represent rebirth and resurrection on top of that (hence why they're so intimately tied to Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of Christ).

Considering how Eden's Garden has a LOT of religious symbolism and parallels to the bible, it wouldn't be too unimaginable if that's going to be how her animal symbolism becomes relevant later on. Her being the character most associated to fertility and reproduction while also being heavily implied to have had sex (probably unprotected) doesn't seem like a complete coincidence, I think. Just food for thought. Love it, hate it-- if nothing else, that'd certainly be one way to put the "dead" in "dead beat", amirite?

There's something special about Moon being the only side of the DCA who has canonically (gameverse) voiced his counterpart's name ("No more Sun", which yes it's not him directly saying Sun's name since it's a figure of speech, but still) whereas Sun - the chatterbox - only refers to Moon via "he" or "other me". Moon, the quiet one who mostly laughs vs Sun who mostly uses words. Sun, who is scared of Moon, never utters his name whereas Moon clearly has no problem with it. Both of them using "we☀️/us🌙" prior to Eclipse. Moon, whose only opinion of Sun we can infer is "the other me trapped me in light so now I trap him in shadow", vs Sun's whole thing which is profoundly more fleshed out.

I don't know man, the "no more Sun" line always did things to me. I remember playing Ruin for the first time and getting this... jarring emotion when I heard Moon saying that. It's such a small line but good god did I latch onto it.

well hello anon! I thiiiink this is about reverse omegaverse bc that’s the only mpreg scenario where vale is far along enough to warrant any anger for not telling marc. it’s not his fault, it was cryptic!

well for one, I think he handles it better than vale does, but that's for a variety of reasons. I don’t think he immediately jumps to vale hiding it as a conclusion bc he knows vale well enough to know there’s no way in hell he would’ve been racing if he’d known about it/he would’ve aborted that thang given the chance. imo marc probably does want kids and is very good with them but he's also 1) 22 years old and 2) not the one who has to carry and birth the baby. so on one hand it's a lot easier for him to be happy about. but on the other hand, vale is totally freaking out bc. he feels too young to have a baby. nevermind the fact that marc is for all intents and purposes, a young adult.

let’s not think about how 36 is already classified as a geriatric pregnancy. vale’s already suicidal enough just thinking about how long he’s been racing with this thing inside of him, plus the fact that he’s literally been on full strength suppressants this whole time. for his sake let’s say he hasn’t really been drinking all season with the exception of podium champagne and even that’s only a few sips. he’s terrified that he’s harmed the baby in some way.

what was the question? right, marc! I think it probably doesn't register as quite as big a deal as it should for marc for a while. he loves vale, he wants to be vale's alpha, however one-sided, and the season has been rough for sure, but enough of their history hasn't quite played out yet so he really does think they can work through this. also the pregnancy reveal AT sepang definitely like took some of the initial shock and hurt away from the incident bc hello new thing to focus on that isn't his omega publicly hating him and trying to knock him over mid-race. girl go talk to someone about this PLEASE.

vale is terrified and nearly catatonic w shock so directly after the medical checkup meltdown marc goes into alpha dealing with it mode and somehow gets them out of there and to his motorhome. he feels kinda bad bc vale probably wants to go to his motorhome where his nest is but that would involve confronting uccio and he's clearly not ready for that yet. (marc also does not want to see uccio, for obvious reasons……..) do they communicate any of this to each other? first of all marc just kind of senses that vale's pregnant but knows having the conversation there will end in catastrophe, so no! he just kind of assumes correctly w the added bonus of being right and vale realllly needing marc's scent right now. marc’s scent is the only thing bringing him any real comfort in the moment……..I wonder why……..

also pleaseeee let's take a moment to imagine the field day the press are having. this weekend alone vale has 1) dragged marc's name through the gravel, 2) let's say, uh, allegedly tried to kick marc off his bike mid race, 3) had some kind of scare in the medical building and cleared the entire place out so there's like doctors and nurses just hovering around outside looking concerned, 4) now left the medical building being physically shielded from the cameras by (checks notes) MARC! world's strangest series of headlines published that day. I don't even want to know what they were saying on twitter.

okay, now we've officially reached a secondary location. marc deposits vale on his bed and like runs around finding him clothes and blankets and boiling water for tea even though he knows vale probably won't even drink it. vale is like numbly dressing himself and half-heartedly arranging the blankets on the bed, shoving his face in marc's pillow bc he's already lost the battle w himself of pretending not to need it. marc hands him a cup of tea so now they're staring at each other sitting in marc's bed. and vale is holding a cup of tea.

basically marc tries to be like, the baby........and vale is in pure denial and also self-preservation mode so he's like what baby I don't know what you're talking about. so marc has to play dirty (vale is always forcing him to ride play dirty) and grab vale's hand and put it on his throat, vale’s trembling fingers brushing the raised bumps of his own bite. and marc is like vale I can feel you, I can feel you reaching out to me. I know you've been needing me. I know you have been stopping yourself, and I can feel it, I can feel our baby. our baby is there too. and then vale breaks down spectacularly and is like marc, amore, I swear I did not know—I have been racing, what if I hurt the baby—our baby.

now marc is young and also doesn’t have any of the answers here but he knows vale is scared out of his mind and that no matter what he’s determined to be there for him through all of it. it’s kind of unclear to both of them just how pregnant vale actually is but vale saw the ultrasound and that thing was looking hella fully formed, and marc has been feeling a growing presence through the bond for a while now so, both of them are separately confident that it’s too late for an abortion lmao. they also both have a lot of people to answer to, marc is only keeping alex and his dad away from his motorhome by telling them that he and vale are “handling the situation privately,” which is technically true bc no one knows what the situation is. also iirc I said that vale gave uccio his phone to deal with so let’s keep it that way.

okay there’s two weeks between sepang and valencia that year, right? I don’t really know like the details of how motogp riders live or in particular how they lived ten years ago but I’m going to pretend they’re somehow able to get a private flight out of malaysia that night, don’t ask me the details. marc still lives w his parents and shares a bunk bed w his baby brother so. tavullia it is!

marc hasnt been back to vale’s house since the crazy one sided mating incident. they get there at some ungodly hour and are like both numb and in their heads not really talking just sensing each other (this is the most calm marc’s instincts have been for almost a year at this point) and they’re finally going to bed when vale just kind of leads marc to his nest, wordlessly gets in. marc breathes in sharply, stunned, because vale’s nest is ninety percent marc’s clothes. it’s almost funny bc the majority of what vale had managed to steal is honda or mm93 merch from their sporadic hookups (before vale cut it off completely) so the entire bed is covered in like neon orange and red.

he gets in the bed and curls around vale, giant hand on vale’s stomach. vale unclenches for the first time in months and just silently starts crying into marc’s neck (scent gland) he is soooo scared. they have to schedule an obgyn appointment, they have to figure out something to tell yamaha because there’s no way in hell vale is going to finish the season pregnant. marc also has to figure out a way to convince vale to let him drop out of the championship to be there for him and the baby.

(when they eventually have that conversation vale is hysterically angry about it due to a combination of pregnancy hormones and projecting and being terrified that marc will resent him for it in the long run) sure vale, marc is going to resent you more for his own choice to drop out of the championship that he's already lost than for you one-sided bonding him and not letting him take care of you for months when you were pregnant. likely story.

ummmm okay this truly got away from me. the short answer is vale does his very best to keep marc out of it but he can’t actually deny what marc can literally feel through the bond so. there’s that. how do yamaha and honda and the sport as a whole and their families take it? well, that’s a whole other story……..
