welcome to my blog!!!

My name is BUGZ! I'm a bodily 22 y/o multiply disabled, queer C-DID system! My pronouns are they/he/she, but I HIGHLY prefer masculine or neutral terms :]

This blog serves as my main hub for everything I like and do- art, writing, memes, fandom stuff and more! This blog is really a collection of a bunch of random posts, and for that reason, it's really cluttered! I also will post about DID and CDD adjacent posts!!!

Our account may not be fully SFW, but we never reblog or post pornographic material! I have a bad swearing problem, struggle with """adult""" issues [such as addiction], and due to my trauma, I have a hard time telling what is socially acceptable in regards for entirely being SFW. It's something I'm working on actively! The most explicit posts you will see are likely surrounding drugs and addiction. I prefer minors do not interact personally, but liking and reblogging is okay!

I do not engage in any sort of discourse. I seriously cannot be bothered, and a lot of discourse is chronically online anyways [sorry, not sorry]. If you really need labels to feel comfortable, I am anti-misinfo and anti-harassment. Anyone is allowed on my blog as long as you don't promote misinfo, harass others, partake in ANY form of bigotry, and are not a gross person [subjective to me].

Following that; I block very liberally! This is the reason I removed my DNI, actually. If I notice you're partaking in spreading misinfo, bigotry, spam me, or anything I just don't like, you go straight to the block chamber! I curate my space for me! Not to mention my old DNI didn't work entirely anyways.

As I stated before, I'm a C-DID system! I state this pretty openly due to the fact it affects every aspect of my daily life- even my posting! PLUS I talk about my system a decent amount. I also am Autistic and have ADHD :] For obvious reasons, those also affect my daily life. I have a physical disability, and other disorders, but I won’t share those for personal reasons.

In terms of my queer Identity. . . We collectively identify as transmasc, bigender, panalterous, omni oriented aroaceflux, and ambiamorous! This is an agreed upon identity the entirety of The Crew and Co. and is essentially for the body itself! Most of the time, I just say I’m queer! Names, pronouns, genders and sexualities all vary from alter to alter individually.

Shout out to @thebibliosphere for existing, and for being open and honest about health stuff in addition to writing some amazing sexy vampires, all while suffering some of the most terrible health stuff. I know I’m not the first or the last person to say this but: uuuh you’re literally the only reason I was able to get an MCAS diagnosis after having this *mystery illness* for my entire life and the past few years having it kick up to 11 and almost dying so many times now all while forgetting how to feel like a person so much that my second dose of cromolyn felt like I woke up from the Long Sleep.

regarding dr ratio's team join voiceline with aventurine

idk where it originated from but i've been seeing this notion that the ENG voiceline is horribly mistranslated and ratio is much more caring and friendly in the original CN. THIS IS LITERALLY NOT TRUE HE IS JUST AS BITCHY IN BOTH LANGUAGES

as a native chinese speaker i actually really love hsr's localisation and i would like to clarify the misconception + explain the cultural nuance/context behind this particular voiceline

i think this tweet might've been the original source for this misconception? op's translation of the CN line is very literal and completely lacking in cultural nuance. while the sentence 管好你自己 does literally translate to "take care of yourself", it lacks the automatic positive connotation that this sentence has in ENG. CN is a high context language -- aka the meaning of a sentence can be totally different based on context clues like tone, body language, etc.

ratio's tone in this line is not the tone of someone who is concerned for a friend. it's standoffish. when said in this kind of tone, the meaning of 管好你自己 is closer to "mind your own business", making the ENG "keep to yourself" a more accurate localisation.

in addition, the word 管 has connotations of controlling/managing something -- directly translating this to "take care of yourself" means it's missing a lot of important nuance.

granted, the second half of the line is a bit unnecessarily aggressive in ENG. the CN is more like "I have no need for your concern", and explicitly saying that he believes aven's concern to be "false" in ENG is definitely a lot ruder than the original line.

However. in my opinion it's not Too far off base. the way he emphasises the second half of that voiceline in CN carries an implication that he actually disdains aven's concern; we can extrapolate from context clues that he feels this way because aven's concern is just an act. tldr; eng line explicitly saying "false display" does make it ruder than CN but it didn't just come from nowhere -- the implication is already there in CN

this is not to say that ratio doesn't care about aven or see him as a friend. imo the reason ratio is so standoffish in this line is because any display of concern from aven here has the clear intention of teasing ratio. they both know ratio can take care of himself perfectly well. this is just how their dynamic works -- aven makes silly playful comments and ratio deflects them by acting cold.

in conclusion: ENG voiceline is not a mistranslation. hsr localisation is definitely not perfect but in this particular case i feel they've done a fairly good job of conveying the original meaning. thank you for coming to my ted talk

My favorite songs are Letters, Charming, and Pierre & Anatole, they're all pretty story heavy but I love it. (The Ball definitely has the most unhinged Anatole, though the wording can be a bit yikes a few times.)

The sheer soulmatism of Lenore and Annabel fucks me up so bad everytime I think too hard about it okay sit down y’all.

The way they were immediately drawn to each other even though they had no memory of anything! No reason to immediately become so attached and protective and trusting! Not even death could part them, it’s almost like reincarnation in a way. The sins of living and the pain that comes with being alive washed away not by holy water but rather split blood, and in this new life they’re reborn into a blank, clean slate. Even in this memoryless ‘next lifetime’ they still choose each other without hesitation, without question, and I am on my knees sobbing.

The parallels of Annabel fainting! Annabel fainted when she learned that Lenore was actually alive, and Annabel also fainted when remembering how she died, and by extension, how Lenore died too (not related to soulmatism but in one scenario her lover caught her despite the injury, and in the other Lenore had no such hinderance but failed to catch Annabel regardless and that parallel kills me so softly). The soulmatism that is reacting the same exact way when you learned she lived vs remembering how she died, the soulmatism that the love is still the same. Oh how the love is still so tragically the same, crossing that threshold of death, despite the unhappy ending you shared. Annabel faints because it’s learning you have a second chance at love vs remembering how that same love was ripped away and I am no longer on my knees but laying facedown on the floor.

(The way Annabel looked at Lenore before collapsing in both scenes but with DRASTICALLY different vibes of disbelief like okay yeah sure, sure okay mhm just smash my ribs and rip my heart right out why don’t you?)

Now, NOW, the thing that truly ends me? The crazy red/blue symbolism these two carry.

Lenore is the embodiment of red. Her thoughts come in red print, as do the ribbons she was wrapped up in. Her fiery (pun intended), confident personality, her pure raging defiance rallying those around her. What’s more, Lenore’s anger and bared teeth is painted red the same way her love is, because red is not just the color of anger. Red is love, and Lenore, my god, she cares so openly about the people around her that her heart’s just painted bloody and brazen on her sleeve. Born from self-made infernos into the person she was always meant to be- flirty, quick-witted, taking what she wants when she wants- she is a young Montague wrapped up in her family’s house colors trailblazing down her own paths.

(But unlike dear Romeo who scaled a tree to look upwards towards Juliet on her balcony, Lenore was in a tree looking downwards at her counterpart, and this parallel is so important as the scene is clearly a Romeo/Juliet parallel but without the sweet sappiness but rather tension and just like, 1000x more interesting ‘can I trust you fr fr-ness’.)

Annabel is the embodiment of blue. Her thoughts come in blue print, and her ribbons are a deep blue to match. Blue is the color of calmness, and she seems so tranquil with a gentle yet firm confidence that puts people around her at ease. A natural born leader with such cool-headedness. Oh, but underneath that mask? Sadness. SO MUCH sadness, Annabel is an ocean of it, she’s a peaceful smile with a melancholic heart shot through. Young Capulet holds not pure innocence like her Juliet-counterpart but rather a deep rooted loneliness, like guys, Annabel is actually just so fucken SAD I think we really need to address this more yes she’s a total girlboss but also Annabel is the personification of hollowed out loneliness that comes with your beloved being ripped away from you.

This really got away from me, but my point?

On break so y'all get to listen to me rant abt the teen au boys (which is kinda just their backgrounds and random facts but whatev)

(I started this while on break but I only get 30mins and I'm a slow typer so had to finish it at home :'D)

Cross grew up in a strict, Christian household. To the outside, him and his family seemed like the most perfect, loving family. (They were wrong, dun dun duuuunnnn) XGaster doesn't pay attention to his kids, and just focuses on his work and making sure him and his family maintain their "perfect" lifestyle. During Cross' time in church, he became friends with Nightmare and Epic (who appears shortly I'm working on a design for him now dw), who also grew up going to church. It's very common for Cross to get grounded, or get into fights with his father (that end up with him grounded anyway), but don't worry, his boys are always willing to sneak him out. It's not uncommon for Cross to just up and leave his house for a day or so after an argument with his father, and if that happens, he stays with Nightmare, who is arguably Cross' best friend.

Nightmare, as said before, also grew up in church, but didn't attend as often, as his mother, Nim, was often busy with work. Nightmare has been known in his group as the one to be able to sweet-talk the others' parents into letting them attend things or just simply hang out (Cross is grateful for this). Due to their background and who his mother is, Nightmare is seen by the others' parents as the good example, and is very trustworthy. As of now, Nightmare's the only one of the group who knows how to drive, and he even has their own car, because of this, he's always driving around the others (another reason they're trusted by the others' parents)

Killer grew up in an unhealthy living environment, not only is his house always dirty and rundown, but their father is verbally and (partially) physically abusive to him, aswell as neglectful. In the past, due to home troubles, Killer has run away a few times, their first time doing this being when they were 7. When Killer was about 13, his father had hurt them pretty badly, and in the dead of night, he ran. He didn't bother putting on shoes, a jacket, nothing, hell he was in a t-shirt and shorts. While running, they ran into Nightmare, who was on a late-night walk. Nightmare helped him, and they became friends (and then they would soon be introduced to the others). While Nightmare is the good influence, Killer's the bad, and XGaster doesn't approve of him, but only tolerates Killer and Cross' friendship because he believes Nightmare can balance them out.

Dust grew up in a neglectful household aswell. His dad is an alcoholic that rarely leaves his room, and he never knew his mother, but Dust has grown indifferent to it. Due to the easy access to alcohol, Dust is always the one bringing it to their hangouts. He's a frequent guest to the Dreamtale household, because not only is it a regular thing for Dust to be locked out of his own home, but Nightmare just prefers he stays with them. Dust is selectively mute, and only really talks to his group and Nim (Because she's very caring to Dust, and he's grown attached to her, and comfortable around her). Due to Dust's living situation, the fact he's "living off of Nightmare", his appearance, and attitude, XGaster doesn't approve of him (But, like Killer, XGaster tolerates him because Nightmare's around).

Horror grew up in a poor household, unable to afford basic necessities like food, hygienic products, and basic utilities, and it's not uncommon for things like water, electricity, or gas to be shut off due to being unable to pay for it. It's very rarely that Horror gets a proper meal, not only because of the lack of funds, but he lets his younger brother get his fill of breakfast/lunch/dinner, while he gets the scraps. No matter how hungry Horror is afterwards, and how much he wishes he could actually eat, he wouldn't dare change a thing, as he's always put his brother's needs before his own. After joining Nightmare's little group, and Nightmare hearing of Horror's living situation, Nightmare (of course) cooks Horror meals when he's over, and makes sure he has enough to bring home some for his family too (which they were very grateful for), the first time they'd done this, Horror broke down, and now sees Nightmare as his closest friend. While Horror's a complete sweetheart, XGaster believes because of his living environment, he "must be some delinquent", so XGaster doesn't approve of him aswell as Dust and Killer (But, as usual, is only tolerated because of Nightmare).
