Now that classic Mickey is getting more attention, i think it's about time to talk about one very annoying design misunderstanding
Has anyone noticed how Mickey Mouse eyes are COMPLETELY misinterpreted in coloured version? 👀
He has a mono eye like Sonic, which was changed into two small eyes inside his pupils
Also for example, notice the placement of Minnie's eyelashes that went from her eyelids to the top of her pupils
Yet Goofy retained normal eyes for some reason
Does anyone know why it's the case? 🤔

Interviewer: "What is the biggest misconception you feel people have about you?"
Peter: "That I’m this completely suicidal, depressed guy all the time. That’s not really true. I mean, yeah, I do get depressed sometimes, but I take this side of me and exorcize demons by writing songs about negative things. It’s sonic therapy for me. I’m actually just an average guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time." ~Revolver magazine interview~

Having the autism that makes me super defensive of my special interests sucks sometimes. I want to finish that Amy Rose video because it was super good analysis and made me really appreciate her and Sonic's dynamic more, but I can't get over the complete random diss of Steven Q. Universe just to make Amy look better
#Esp because as I said in my last post abt it like. The entire point of the video is to dissect misconceptions about Amy's character#And in the process it uses a misconception about an entirely DIFFERENT character to make a point#Sonic the Hedgehog#Steven Universe#Amy#Steven

the tailstube was fucking funneeee and i may have my qualms on some stuff but i think the W's (sa2 acknowledgement, heroes acknowledgement, shth2005 acknowledgement, specifically sonic using a fake emerald acknowledgement, the idea of a mutual respect even if they may have differing ideals and should things come to it end up on opposing sides again) outweigh the cons and so im WINNING!
#WHOOOOOOOOOOOO#i am still 100% standing by my initial reaction of 'whose fanfic is this' but like. funnyyyy#also i guess if ur reaching it could also count as 'sonic was the one to use faker acknowledgement'#bc the misconception thats a shadow thing really grinds my gears xoxo#speaking

the difference between how people who aren’t huge sonic fans see shadow and his actual canonical personality is so funny to me bc like. do they know he's a deeply traumatised teenager who is only aloof bc he doesn’t know how to connect with people or do they think he’s genuinely a badass loner. do they know he's extremely quick to get attached to people even if he struggles to show his affection. do they know he has suicidal ideation.
#like the idea of shadow as this badass edgelord who plays by nobodies rules is the funniest misconception ever#he is. not that.#like yeah he is a badass but he's not edgy he just has severe ptsd and struggles to connect with people#and he also is entirely living just to fulfil the promise he made his sister to let people be happy.#like if any major character in sonic is an actual edgelord it’s metal sonic in heroes and even then it’s in a very chuuni deviantart kid wa#like heroes metal is more kid who makes coldsteel the edgehog and rps as that cool super strong evil oc#shadow literally is just like. autistic

people thinking that green hill is called green hills 🤝 people thinking endless possibility is called endless possibilities 🤝 people thinking that fleetway super sonic is his actual in universe name
#theres definitely other sonic misinformation/misconceptions that get spread around but these three all have the same energy i think#the fleetway super sonic thing is probably the most annoying out of the three though because its like#people obsessing over and maing content about a character they dont actually know. and spreading misinfo because of that.

did captain america age when he was stuck in that iceberg? did squidward age when he was locked in the freezer??? were they aware AT ALL during that time? their minds and bodies were FROZEN. they did not age. it was like they went to sleep and then woke up, however many years later. it's THE SAME for shadow.
the only thing i want from sonic movie 3 atp is for sonic to look directly at the camera and say "that guy is 15, just like me!" irt shadow because people constantly misunderstanding how CRYOSTASIS works drives me completely insane and is overall just annoying as fuck
#one of my sonic unpopular opinions is that i hate ''jokes'' about shadow's age because they're always#tasteless and contribute to this god awful misconception#like was he FROZEN for 50 years? yeah. but he is NOT 50 mentally OR physically. for the love of god.#i DON'T understand why this is so hard for people to wrap their heads around like. it's really not that complicated </3

Stone needs to get integrated into the larger game lore. I'm dead serious.
I need to see him interacting with Sage, Orbot and Cubot. I need him to almost double over crying the fist time one of them calls him dad.
Alternatively, they call him dad but they're not even fucking dating yet and Stone has no idea how to diffuse that misconception (he can't).
Just the implication of another human finding highly stylized Egged Man attractive is amazing also. Every character baring witness to their vaguely homoerotic nonsense would just look at each other like, "is this allowed? is..is this okay??"
Not to mention that Stone owardly is the calmer of the two so he seems pretty sane but the fact that he's so down for Ronotnik's schemes means he is SUPER NOT.
There's so much potential and I am clawing at Sonic Team's front door like a rabid squirrel for it to happen.

What’s your thoughts on idw silver, I personally think he is ok but I feel like the idw comic didn’t really do very well with his character.
I can't say I like him... at all.
American Sonic media already has a history of needless and quite frankly terrible changes, whether made out of ignorance, xenophobia towards Sonic Team/SoJ, some vague, made-up sense of marketability, or all three. So, I'm already wary of media like that. They always change fundamental aspects of Sonic's appeal and are supremely unenjoyable to me as a result.
To stay on track here - why do I dislike IDW Silver? The main reason is that I think he's portrayed as way too polite and nice to people. He has no backbone. It's as if he was just based off of popular fanon or Archie comics, rather than the source material. I don't blame anyone for thinking Silver is some timid, polite sweetheart if fanon and IDW/Archie is all they have consumed, but I'm doing my best to dispel that notion for the sake of conquering misinformation. As a casual fan, it is understandable to have misconceptions, but I'm going to be much more harsh to official media.
I need to hammer home the fact that Silver is rude and often talks down to people. Sonic '06, Silver's debut game, showcases this very well. In an '06 cutscene, he talks down to Sonic after attacking him when his guard was down. The casual stride over to a wheezing, incapacitated Sonic kills me. The disrespect is fucking crazy.
In the level Flame Core, he acts haughty and superior about his abilities, even letting out a light chuckle at how pathetic the enemies are. And, a detail that is easy to miss, he doesn't even apologize for trying to kill Sonic.
That's not even mentioning the Rivals games being a wonderful source of Rude Silver™, where there are too many snide remarks to count.
IDW Silver is a telltale case of Silver's nuance being stripped so that he only represents one trait of his- that trait being "naivety." Silver's naivety is mentioned twice by Blaze in Sonic '06 because this is relevant to the story. Naivety is Silver's fatal flaw that leads to him being easily manipulated by Mephiles. However, his naivety isn't due to some innocent, childlike outlook on the world. Silver takes everyone at face value and always assumes people are telling the truth to him due to a lack of social skills. This is why, when Silver mentions something outlandish or unbelievable to people, he is confused why they don't believe him. This is shown in both Rivals 2 and the Sonic x Silver wallpaper cover story.
IDW seems to completely miss this nuance and conflates "naivety" with childlikeness and innocence. When you realize this, decisions put towards Silver's characterization in IDW makes a lot of sense - his hyperactive excitement and adulation over Whisper is a good example, but how he doesn't talk back to Sonic calling him "flatware" in Issue 8 particularly bothers me.
Realistically, Sonic would immediately get thrown into a wall if he said this to Silver.
Portrayals like IDW Silver are just so utterly confusing. How in the world does Silver get misconstrued this way, into something entirely opposite of what he is, in both fanon and official media? To be completely honest, it makes me frustrated. I want things to change and I feel like I have to speak up. I ended up writing an essay about Why Silver is Rude. I'm sorry anon.

Hey! If you're a fan of the 1998-2009 era Sonic (which you probably are since most of my followers are Sonic Adventure fans), you should read the short stories from the Japanese site Sonic Channel fully. They're the ultimate experience for anyone invested in the characters, explore their personalities in-depth, and shed light on their relationships and how they would act in a variety of impossible situations. They're written by Eitaro Toyoda, one of the Sonic Team OGs who's been with the series since SA1. Windii (@browniestash) compiled English translations on her blog (the page goes from newest to oldest).
I'm sharing this because Windii recently ran a poll and found out most fans had either not read them or only know of the 2016 comic strips (which are short and small and mostly just cute gags). I consider that a huge shame, because these are absolutely a must-read. There's a lot of misconceptions in the fandom about the characters' traits and dynamics (since much of it is distorted through word-of-mouth and Sega of America retcons) and these clear up a good bit of them. They really help scratch the itch of wanting more oldschool 3D Sonic story content.

↑ THANK YOU
I don't like the idea that Tikal has become dead or even a ghost from an afterlife. I don't think it makes sense and including her in a trend of dead nice girls lists like Maria, Cosmo, Molly and even Longclaw is a disservice to her character imo. As a matter of fact, I have Cylent Nite's Shadikal essay document downloaded into my Google Docs and here's a debunkment page regarding the whole Tikal being dead argument.
Tikal is not dead
This is a very common line of thought that is always a stub in discussion. Focusing on the cutscenes featuring Tikal’s sealing within the Master Emerald, there is nothing in the sequence that really indicates that she ever “died”. If anything, the prayer she recites implies the opposite, where the power to stop Chaos is enriched by her own heart for peace.
In the middle of her incantation she has a short revelation about what she must do, revealing that they turn her thoughts into power. Through this process, Tikal has actually “ascended” in order to gain the necessary power and became an entity commissioned to serve the Master Emerald, rather than simply having died and become an undead ghost.
To consider some basic terminology: Tikal is never referred to as a “ghost”, however in certain texts and bios she is called a “spirit”. Ghosts fall under the category of “spirit”, but spirits aren’t considered “ghosts”. Also consider other entities that identify as spirits too: djinn are considered spirits who are canon elements in the Sonic series, and in various mythology, angels and demons are also considered “spirits” too. Pretty much anything that falls under that mystical banner is considered a spirit, even smaller entities like sprites and pixies.
All the above considered, Tikal is more like an “angel” than a “ghost”. Tikal’s ascension calls to mind certain characters in the various mythology who due to complete servitude to their master, transcended life and bypass death in order to become more than the simple mortal beings that they once were- in this case they became angels. These texts in particular heavily emphasize that they did not die- they were transformed.
Obviously it’s purely conjecture to apply this to something as simple as Tikal’s state of being, but given that Tikal holds a close connection to Chaos and the Master Emerald, it only makes sense that she would have to be on an equal footing with Chaos rather than just being some simple disembodied ghost; The undead should never have this much responsibility when it comes to godly affairs, this is a duty reserved for deities.
Harkening back, consider the fact that Tikal and Chaos are “equals'': Even Chaos himself was once a simple Chao before he ascended into the state of a god by the Master Emerald in order to protect its people; Chaos was never a god from the beginning. Tikal’s transformation shares the exact same properties, however, with the purpose of keeping Chaos in check.
Another line of thought people commonly consider is that at the end of Sonic Adventure, Tikal and Chaos rise up to “pass on into the afterlife”. That just doesn’t make any sense at all; Why would a god like Chaos need to pass on, especially since he himself isn’t dead?
TL;DR Stucking herself in a magical rock just gave her new superpowers/forms
The whole “pass on into the afterlife” thing doesn't make sense either because I've been exposed to enough media to know a trope called "A Twinkle in the Sky" where someone or an object is thrown into the sky and disappears behind a twinkling four-pointed star. Does that mean a character literally went straight to heaven? No. It usually occurs for either slapstick or to show that a comedic recurring villain is defeated and out of the way for now without having to kill or otherwise permanently inconvenience them, and said villain can be expected to show up again with little to no lasting damage nor explanation on how they survived or where they landed. It's just a convenient yet creative way of saving up time for the rest of the plot when it could've shown a hero knocking the villain out and dragging them back to their evil lair they may not know the location of. Just FLING and done.
Tikal and Chaos floating up to the sky is essentially a more gentler form of this trope. They didn't like go to heaven to "pass on into the afterlife as dead ghosts" or something, they simply float away to another location they would've most likely been more familiar with. Of course it might not have been obviously openly confirmed where exactly they went to, perhaps it was left open for interpretation. But I believe the Master Emerald can be used as an interdimensional gate, and I speculate that when Tikal used its power to use it as a cage for her and Chaos, one of its side effects is it created a dimension that strongly replicates the past altar, so if this ending screen is any indication ↓
I think it's safe to say that's where they most likely went to.
Summary: If Tikal is dead because she was suspended in time in an object for a long time does that mean that Shadow, Captain America and Phillip J. Fry are also dead too?
Tikal is sealed in the master emerald in like a time space girly never died she just sealed herself and chaos in the master emerald time space she is not dead
